Health And Fitness Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of health and fitness can be both a rewarding and challenging
endeavor. On one hand, the topic is broad and encompasses a wide array of subtopics, ranging
from physical well-being to mental health, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle choices. This
diversity allows for creativity and exploration of various dimensions related to health and fitness.
However, the challenge lies in the need for a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
To create a well-rounded essay, one must delve into scientific concepts, historical perspectives,
contemporary issues, and emerging trends in the health and fitness landscape. This requires
thorough research and the ability to synthesize information from various sources.
Moreover, addressing the multifaceted nature of health and fitness demands a balanced
approach. Striking the right equilibrium between scientific evidence, personal anecdotes, and
societal perspectives can be tricky. Maintaining coherence and logical flow throughout the essay
while navigating through different aspects of health and fitness requires careful planning and
organization.
Additionally, the language used should be accessible to a broad audience, considering the
significance of the topic for people of all backgrounds and ages. Communicating complex ideas
in a clear and concise manner without oversimplifying is an art that adds another layer of
complexity to the writing process.
In conclusion, composing an essay on health and fitness involves navigating through a rich
tapestry of information, balancing different perspectives, and presenting the content in a
coherent and engaging manner. While the process may be challenging, the opportunity to

The Fifteenth And Sixteenth Centuries In Italy
There are many highly interesting periods of history to learn about, but one of the
most interesting is that which covers the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries in Italy.
The Renaissance was a really crucial turning point in Western thinking and cultural
tradition. There was a astounding amount of artistic and architectural production
during this time. Moreover, this period in time was highly engaged. The Renaissance
produced an outstanding array of artists and painters, including the notable Leonardo
da Vinci, the Italian painter, journalist, and engineer. This time period was rightfully
named the Renaissance, meaning rebirth in Latin. It was named this because Italians
and Europeans began to once again advance culturally. The Renaissance
Analysis Of Middlesex By Jeffrey Eugenides
A world seen in Black and White The novel Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
focuses on a family of Greek immigrants whose experiences in America demonstrates
life for blacks, non whites and whites during the 1900s. One passage in the text
describes the first generation immigrant, Desdemona s initial encounter with Africans
Americans and their community. When Desdemona exits the trolley after having
arrived in Black Bottom Eugenides uses a metaphor to illustrate the contrast
between black lives and white lives. The narrator describes, The streetcar didn t so
much as pause as it crossed the invisible barrier, but at the same time in the length of
a block the world was different. The light seemed to change, growing gray as it

Whites continued to uphold power over blacks and their lives. In the passage the
author utilizes the surroundings in the black community to portray support the
theme of white authority that constantly surfaces in the novel. Later, as
Desdemona nears the silk factory she begins to notice the smells and food present
in Black Bottom. The narrator describes, The smell of unfamiliar food in the air
now, fish caught from the nearby river, pig knuckles, hominy grits, fried baloney,
black eyed peas. But also many houses where nothing was cooking, where no one
was laughing or even talking, dark rooms full of weary faces... (143). Eugenides
uses imagery to compare the liveliness of blacks, the richness of their food and
culture to the homes of African Americans in which poverty and oppression have
consumed their liveliness. The images of weary faces and dark rooms and no
laughter conveys to the reader the exhaustion and frustration blacks are feeling. The
effects of their omnipresent struggle for equality and rights and essentially for
liberation from white power and supremacy on their
Effects Of Isis On Society
Isis is a big problem in society that needs to be eliminated The U.S. Isis is a
dangerous anti American society who is causing trouble in Syria, Iraq, and even her
in the u.s. Isis has done plenty of mass murders and shootings that have caused lives.
The main problem with them is that they are infiltrating the U.S which is a major
threat to society considering they are only here to cause damage.
According to the Daily Beast Isis is completely and totally ruthless and will do
whatever they can to damage the U.S, and they have already caused countless
numbers of shooting, murders, rapes, and even beheadings. We can prevent this
problem by increasing online security because if they have access to most of the

According to CNN news post there is yet another element to the process of shutting
down Isis, and that is social media, television programs, and other information
sources that anyone can access might be a huge problem because any time that Fox
news or CNN announces something about Isis or a plan of attack, Isis will hear that
and will be able to prepare ahead of time. Another way to eliminate isis from our
country is to increase borderline security all around the U.S even by shore line to

Canoeing Short Story
One day I asked my dad to go canoeing. I had never gone canoeing before but I was
trying new things and canoeing sounded intriguing. My dad told me he hadn t
been canoeing for over 47 years. I asked him why and he suddenly got quiet like he
was trying to think of something to say. Eventually he just said he didn t like it
anymore. I thought that was the end of the story because we never did go
canoeing that day. A few days later my dad came up to me and said there was
something he wanted to tell me. He seemed off edge and had been acting unusual
the last couple of days. Eventually, he spoke up and said that he would go canoeing
with me. Once we got in the water with the canoe, me sitting in front and my dad
steering in the back, he started to tell me a story. He felt bad for not taking me
sooner but he felt that I wasn t ready to hear what he was about to tell me. It was a
story he had never told anyone before, and it was quite intriguing. He started off
saying that he forgot the ending but he knew how it at least started so he decided to
tell me that at least. It went a little bit like this:
He slithered up the muddy slope, slipping on the moss and mud. Canoes parked on
the edge of the river. He had never been so scared in his life. He might ve been
climbing to what would eventually become a major injury or possibly death, but in
his eyes, it was all worth it. It had been at least a week since he last saw someone
besides the group he traveled with. It was a group of 5
Examples Of Mock Epic And Rape Of The Lock
Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost
all the characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. In the The Rape of
the Lock there is an invocation to Muses, proposition of subject, battles,
supernatural machinery, and journey on water, underworld journey, long speeches,
feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a simple family
dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand action of a low subject produces
comical laughter and makes the story more absurd. The subject matters in both of the
epic poems are grand. Like the epic poems, the poem The Rape of the Lock opens
with the proposition of the subject matter and invocation to the Muses to help him
create... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ritual sacrifices the Baron performs in the pre dawn hours are another mock
epic element of the poem, mimicking the epic tradition of sacrificing to the gods
before an important battle or journey. The fact that he discards all his other love
tokens in these preparations reveals his untrustworthiness as a lover. An epic poem
must contain episodes also. In the poem Rape of the Lock, Pope has introduced
the episodes of the game of Omber which suggests the powerful battle and the
cards involve the soldiers described in great detail. There is also the battle between
lords and ladies just like the battle in epic poem. But in mock epic this battle is
fought with fans and snuff instead of with swords and spears. There are single fight
between Belinda and Baron and between Clarissa and Sir Plume. Another vital
element of an epic is the active participation of supernatural machinery like god and
goddesses. In The Rape of the Lock, there are sylphs and gnomes. These aerial spirits
are small and insignificant things and are therefore, exactly in keeping with the
triviality of the

INTRODUCTION:
This report is based on the history and collapse of a big Australian giant West Point
group of companies. West point Corporation Pty Ltd was the head company of the
western Australia based West point Group of Companies ( West point Group ) which
was primarily engaged in property development and collecting finance for that
purpose. In this report, causes of the collapse of the company specially the role of
auditors in the collapse will be discussed. This report doesn t only throw light on the
collapse of West Point group of companies but also look at the conduct of the auditors
of another well reputed auditing firm KPMG which as a consequence of this
negligence had to pay compensation for the damages caused to investors of West
Point group of companies. The reason of choosing West Point group of industries to
write a report on is that it involves the conduct of two big companies and ASIC action
against both of the companies.

Analysis Of The Novel A Number Of Themes
In the novel, a number of themes have been outlined by Ondaatje such as race,
ethnicity, identity, history, nationalism, Western colonialism, romance, war, and the
human body. The setting also shifts to different locations such as Cairo, deserts in
Africa and England. The problem of identity is one of the most important issues for
the post modern epoch. The English Patient is a novel that questions the nationand
nationalism that shape identities through colonial and anti colonial nationalisms. The
English Patient has the resonance of the myth of the Egyptian traveller in the form of
the central character Almasy who is a reservoir of the fragmented accounts of
expeditions through deserts. The characters are all exiles from their homeland... Show

It is through our sense of identity that we identify ourselves as members of various
ethnic groups or nations as well as social classes which provide us with a sense of
belonging. Likewise, nations are communities which provide a sense of belonging
through the individual s feeling of connectedness to his or her fellow men. In other
words, individuals think that they are a part of one collective body, namely, a
community known as nation, which is in fact an idea, defined by Benedict Anderson
as an imagined political community . The survival of nations depend upon invention
and performance of traditions, histories, symbols which help people sustain their
identity. However, it mostly depends on nationality, traditions and narration of
history, which are central elements. Therefore, national history is important in the
sense that it narrates the past as a common experience that belongs to a community. It
creates one particular version of the past and identity to constitute a common past and
a collective identity of any given community. In other words, nations are imaginary
communities, to use Benedict Anderson s phrase, and nationalism is based on the
very concept of a unified imaginary community. Furthermore, nations also provide

The Push Against Performance Summary
Critique of The Push Against Performance Reviews by Vauhini Vara
Performance reviews have often been considered a necessary evil of working in the
corporate world. They provide a set of standards by which employees can be
measured, for use in deciding who gets promoted, who gets the bonus, and who gets
put on the dreaded performance improvement plan. Employee evaluations have been
used for centuries, across all business sectors...but are they truly improving
performance? In the article, The Push Against Performance Reviews, Vauhini Vara
posits that performance reviews have outlived their usefulness.
Vara cites several reasons why she believes performance reviews are outdated. The
current model of performance reviews, according to Accenture s ... Show more

One statement that is particularly troubling is the quote from Kevin Murphy a
scientist and expert on performance appraisals from Colorado State University. In an
email to the author, Murphy allegedly makes some comments around managers
skewing evaluations due to their own incentives, and that even accurate feedback can
feel biased and unfair , which can lead to poor relationships between management
and employees. This statement paints current corporate culture with a broad brush,
assuming management performs unethically to meet their targets, and that
employees assume negative feedback is part of some vendetta against them. None
of these statements are backed by anything resembling statistical data or scientific
study. These appear to be the opinions of one person who is, apparently, an expert
in performance appraisals (a fact which is also not backed by any supporting
evidence). Another quote, by yet another expert, this one a professor at UCLA and
author of a book titled Get Rid of the Performance Review! , states that he would
get rid of all performance reviews because they are ineffective . (Vara, 2015) How are
they ineffective? This is also never explained...guess you have to read the
The Themes Of Entitlement In Lucky Jim By Kingsley Amis

Entitlement for the Ages
Stigmas, judgments, and misconceptions surround the newest generation of today s
society, cleverly named the millennials, like a virus. This particular generation is
often subject to criticism and even mockery, both justified and not justified. Similarly,
the generation that is focused on in the events of the novel Lucky Jim by Kingsley
Amis has been given the title of entitled. This conception is shown through various
characters and their respective developments, such as Jim, Dixon, and Bertrand. As
Amis develops these characters, we begin to see why their reputation is both justified
and not justified, and Amis leaves most of that interpretation open to the reader.
Rather than forcing character traits by explicitly telling the audience how each
character thinks, he uses point of view to open up major character decisions to the
reader.
In order to look at the general feelings and actions of characters through the lens of
entitlement, it is important to define such a vague and often overused term. A TIME
Magazine article, titled The Me Me Me Generation, focuses on why millennials are
the most narcissistic, self centered generation in the history of western civilization.
This attitude spreads not only among the upper and middle classes but reaches as far
as those living in poverty, who are selfish but for entirely different reasons than their
counterparts. According to the study, this movement of thinking inwards began with
trying to artificially inflate the self esteem of young adults in order to prevent them
from thinking terribly about the world around them. That self esteem movement
began in the 70s, a decade of historical significance highlighted by the Cold War. The
article further states that not all of this narcissism is not the fault of millennials, but
because of the steady diet of entitlement, they have been fed. The author mentions
that kids grow up watching reality shows, which are basically documentaries about
narcissists. History classes frequently discuss how great the younger generation is
now compared to the past, where everyone was a farmer of some kind. All of this

Evolution of Hip-Hop
Evolution of Hip Hop From where it started to where it is now, Cuban hip hop has
transformed greatly. Without the United States, hip hop in Cuba certainly would
not be where it is today. The United States is the hub of hip hop and helped to
jumpstart hip hop in Cuba. While this is true, hip hop in the United States
completely differs from that of Cuba for the better. Even though hip hop in Cuba
did not start from much, the amount of development and influence this music has
towards Cuba is immeasurable. Around 1970, 44 years ago, hip hop emerged in
the West Bronx of New York. The culture of hip hop incorporates many aspects
besides just the music itself, such as DJing, graffiti, breakdancing, and urban
fashion. Hip hop mainly started from DJ s separating the break in rock, funk and
other types of songs, as well as the MC playing a major role in the development of
hip hop. In between the songs that the DJ was playing, the MC would speak in
between the songs, make jokes and many other actions in order to get the crowd
riled up. This eventually led up to the practice of hip hop to become more
conventional, resulting in the forming of hip hop. Kool DJ Herc did all of this in
1970, who is believed to be the one who started the emergence of hip hop. At first,
DJ Herc would deliver rhymes over reggae track; however, this did not engage
people s attention enough. Because the people were not engaged, DJ Herc had to find
another way to satisfy the audience, which came from him

more inquiring, rather than being obligated to go to school just because I had to,
like the state required us to. Ever since I have been given two field placements, I
have been increasingly interested in the teaching profession. My first field

just how important other rolls are in a school, and how they can affect and tie into
how a student does in a classroom. Having two field placements has given me a new
outlook on the classroom environment, curriculum, and what goes on behind the
scenes in the teaching profession. In my second field placement, which is what this

Images Of Witchcraft During Renaissance Culture
Images of Witchcraft in Renaissance Culture
The witchcraft phenomenon of the Renaissance period was shaped by a wide range
of cultural factors; witchcraft was not necessarily subject to a single cohesive idea or
concept, and it was often instead a conglomeration of many different societal
concerns, concerns which spanned through all spheres of society. Textual evidence
from this period provides insight into the way in which witches were conceived, and
how witches were dealt with, while visual images present a companion visualisation
of the tensions, which influenced created the witch, and the imagery, which came to
be associated with witchcraft.
The 1486 Malleus Maleficarum set up the precedent for the witchcraft craze, which
came to its prime in the mid 16th century, during the Renaissance period. Though the
Malleus was not the only factor in this craze, as Margaret Sullivan notes, it made no
discernable impact... for nearly half a century , it, with a number of other social
factors, provided a wealth of information to witch hunts and hunters. This treatise
further established several of the basic ideas essential to the identification of witches
such as the identification of witches as largely women; through the treatise s
continual argument that women were of gullible and carnal nature the text further
advocated ideas of fear and hatred in regards to women.
As the witch hunting period grew, the real fears and tensions which plagued all
levels of society is clear by

Wright suffer from emptiness, she lost who she was in her marriage. Mrs. Hale
describes Mrs. Wright back when she was Minnie Foster as kind of a bird herself
real sweet and pretty, but kind of timid (Glaspell. 234). This was to show how Mrs.
Wright used to be filled with joy and saw the sky as having no limit, which was
due to her being young and vibrant. But after her marriage to her husband that

of her life that she no longer had. Wright wouldn t like the bird a thing that sang.
She used to sing. He killed that. (Glaspell 235). This was a moment that allowed

memory allowed for her to imagine and feel the pain and anger that Mrs. Wright

The Theoretical Framework Of The Study And Is Divided

Chapter 2 Literature Review 2.1Introduction This chapter discusses the theoretical
framework of the study and is divided into four main sections. The first section
describes the recent financial crisis or global economic recession. Section two
reviews any similarities between the recent crisis and previous crises. Section
three explores the measures taken by governments to prevent a reoccurrence of a
financial crisis Section four discusses FDI and mergers and acquisitions.
2.2Financial Crisis/Global Economic Recession As defined by Eichengreen and
Portes (1987) a financial crisis tends to be disruptions within financial markets and
are characterised by falling asset prices and bankruptcy/liquidation among debtors
which spread through the financial system, completely disrupting the markets
capacity to allocate capital. It is clear that the crisis had multiple causes such as
the financiers themselves especially those who claimed to have found a way to
expel risk where in fact they had only lost track of it. Regulators and bankers are
also to bear blame because they tolerated this recklessness. The macroeconomic
backdrop was very important as years of low inflation and stable growth nurtured
risk taking. Some research suggests that European banks should take blame as they
borrowed greedily in American money markets pre crisis and used the funds to buy
dodgy securities. All these factors together played a major role in the unravelling of
the recent financial crisis

Beethoven s Fifth Symphony Essay
Beethoven s Fifth Symphony
If you are part of society, I think it is safe to make the assumption you are familiar
with and have heard Symphony No. five by Beethoven. Whether it was a theme in
movie or part of an advertisement on TV, it captured your attention and added
emotion and excitement to the particular segment that it coincided with. Total
unification and the pervasive use of a single motif combine to make the Fifth

the first in which all movements are shown plainly to be part of a cyclic design. The

Instead of having the tonic minor govern the entire recapitulation in the first
movement, he brings back the second subject in the tonic major, as a simple
transposition rather than the fundamental recasting. (In this respect the movement
anticipates the Romantic concept of thematic integrity and by, extension, the idea of
the theme as the focal point of a composition.)
The fifth Symphony in C minor is rightly considered the paradigm of Beethoven s
symphonies; the various alternatives to sonata form, explored in the piano works, are
put to one side here in favor of the more rigorous example of Mozart, which is,
however, raised to a superbly spectacular level.(Pestelli p.236) According to
Pestelli, No other piece had ever organized the principles of contrast with such
integration of metrical structure and thematic invention as does the first
movement; the grand balancing of blocks of sound comes, as everyone knows,
from a proverbial four note idea, an idea unusable by others, and in that sense a
asocial , rather like the opening of Coriolan(1807), the overture for Collin s tragedy,
with it s powerful swelling unisons that explode into chords.(236) This explains the
why Beethoven s opening to Symphony No. five is so powerful and dominating to
the listener s ear. His use of only four notes to introduce his symphony is an original
one, giving it extreme distinction from any other composer s work of the Classical
Monteverdi s Version Of Orfeo
Monteverdi s version of the story of the opera Orfeo it said to be a masterwork and
set the operatic tone and the style for decades to follow. However, it was not the
first opera written during the late Renaissance; the first supposed opera, Dafne, was
written by Jacopo Peri in 1597, but has since been misplaced. Monteverdi was an
accomplished composer of madrigal, and many of the arrangements and harmonic
devices he employs in Orfeo would have already been familiar to his audiences.
However, by imposing form and structure to the often inconsequential business of
early opera, he ensued that plays with musicas operas were commonly called in the
premature days would provide the basis of Italian musical life for four centuries.

Toady sports is viewed by fans all around the world rather it being basketball,

Women athletes are generally under paid compared to the men s salaries in

women sports are not generating enough money to allow bigger contracts for
women athletes. Women sports are loved by its fans and supporters; however, most
sports fans consider women sports to be step down from the excitement of watching

Analysis Of The Basque-American Indian Pidgin
The Basque American Indian pidgin found in the north eastern part of North America
was first documented in the early seventeenth century. Although it is believed to have
first been used in the sixteenth century, this was the first time that there was recorded
documentation of someone experiencing the pidgin. The pidgin was created between
the Basque peopleof Spainand France and the American Indian people of North
America. The pidgin is believed to be composed from a lot of Basque words and
influence and the different languages the native people spoke. The native people
spoke variations of the Algonquian language, and their influence is also seen in the
pidgin. The pidgin was mostly spoken between the Basque people and the native
people, although the native people also used it when speaking to visiting
Frenchmen. The Basque people were mostly seafarers and sheepherders, while the
native people were mostly hunters and farmers. When these the two groups met it
was usually to conduct trade of some sort. The Basque American Indian pidgin was
a pidgin used to help the Basque people and the native people to communicate.
Before going into the linguistic portion of the analysis, we need to talk about the
pidgin itself and how it came to be. That is; what the superstrate and the substrate of
the pidgin are. Based on my analysis of the phonology, morphology, and lexicon I
have come to the conclusion that the superstrate of the pidgin was the Basque
language. This
Data And Processing Of Data Essay
Abstract The amount of data being generated nowadays has increased tremendously.
With these large volumes of data, there is a need for efficient storage and
processing of data. The data generated from a variety of sources like Social
networking sites, Emails, audio and video files, text files and other various files is
unstructured. The traditional databasecannot handle this complex and high volumes
of data efficiently. The Hadoop framework provides an effective solution for
storing large volumes of data and processing the data for analysis. This paper deals
about the Traditional Databases, Big data, Data analysis and how effectively
Hadoop stores these large volumes of data and processes data for analysis.
Furthermore, this paper also focuses on the various technologies used in Hadoop for
the purpose of storing the data and for processing the data.
I.INTRODUCTION
The word Big data describes the large data sets, which contains a large amount of
data. The data may exist in structured, semi structured and unstructured forms. The
structured data is a type of data whose degree of organization is high, with a well
defined data model, whereas Unstructured data is quite opposite to structured data
which doesn t have well defined data structure and is not classified. The semi
structured data is cross of structured data and unstructured data, it doesn t have a well
defined structure, but has some properties of structured data. The Big data is a
combination of these different data

Lincoln Electric Company Case Study Analysis In this Case Study Analysis, I will
identify examples of the types of organizational culture (innovative and stable) that
the Lincoln Electric Company has, as well as the benefits and problems the company
could experience as a result of these. The idea that stuck out the most about the
Lincoln ElectricCompany is that they obviously have a strong culturethat all levels of
employees are proud to be a part of. According to Carpenter, Taylor, and Erdogan
(2010), culture is a more powerful way of controlling and managing employee
behaviors than organizational rules and regulations (pg. 193, para. 2). The Lincoln
Electric Company encompasses facets of multiple types of cultures instead of
adhering to only one. The ways in which the Lincoln Electric Company identifies
with an innovative culture are most prominently explained by the following facets:
not having a traditional hierarchy, and utilizing an open door policy when it comes to
problem resolution. As explained in the Organization Structure section of the Case
Study, personnel are encouraged to take problems to the persons most capable of
resolving them [open door policy] (Sharplin, 1989, pg. 7, para. 1). In the same
section, Sharplin also mentions that, Lincoln has never had a formal organization
chart... [but] position titles and traditional flows of authority do imply something of
an organizational structure... [thus determining] that production workers have two or,

Pluto s Position On The Solar System
Introduction Pluto s Position in the Solar System Pluto used to be considered the
ninth planet of our solar system, but in 2006 Pluto s planetary classification was
changed to a dwarf planet (Choi). Pluto is located in the Kuiper belt and it orbits
beyond Neptune, which makes Pluto a trans Neptunian object, or TNO (Schneider
and Arny 380 381). Plutos elliptical orbit of the sun takes 248 years, and on average
it is approximately 3.6 billion miles from the sun (Dunbar). Pluto has an extremely
cold atmosphere since it is so far away from the sun. On average, Pluto s
atmospheric temperature is 390 degrees Fahrenheit, or 40 K (Schneider and Arny
380). NASA recently launched a new mission to explore Pluto and its atmosphere
with the New Horizons spacecraft, and we have also learned new information
about Pluto s topography. Pluto has many mountain ranges, lands with deep
craters, frozen plains, and flowing nitrogen ice. The frozen plains on the eastern side
of Pluto are believed to be younger than its deep cratered, western areas. The eastern
plains of Pluto are only thought to be 100 million years old, and the western area
may be billions of years old ( NASA s New Horizons Finds ). Pluto also has five
moons that are being explored as part of the New Horizons mission. Pluto s moons
are: Charon, Hydra, Nix, Styx, and Kerberos all of which have variable spin rates (
Last of Pluto s Moons ).

Chupacabras
Monster of Latin America The Chupacabra is the legendary hairless, dog like
creature that is responsible for the cattle mutilations in Latin America. This strange
alien like bipedal monster with red eyes and a long, thin row of spikes down its
back rips its victims apart and removes the ears, eyes, lips, and some organs
(Coleman). Also, it sometimes drains the blood completely. The creation of the
Chupacabra says a great deal about humanity. The legend of the Chupacabra shows
that humans want an explanation for abnormalities, let their imaginations run too
wild, and need a scapegoat for their carelessness. Cattle ranching is a very important
part of Latin American culture because it was brought over when the area was first
colonized... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The teacher analyzed the samples and found unknown chemicals that could kill
germs. These chemicals were not able to be produced in nature. Only something or
someone (the United States government) with good technology would be able to
produce that kind of chemical. Also, at many mutilation sights, helicopters and bags
of medical supplies have been found (Coleman). These different variations to the
cause of cattle mutilations show the difference in the cultures of the United States
and Latin America. The Latin American culture is known for its myths and
superstitions, leaving everything up to the gods, while in the United States, the
people are known to blame almost everything on the government.
The legend of the Chupacabra says many things about the human race. One prominent
thing it says about humanity is the need to explain the supernatural. Humans have
always fabricated explanations to make sense of abnormal happenings. A few
examples besides the legend of the Chupacabra are Bigfoot, werewolves, the Loch
Ness Monster, and vampires. People do not like not knowing something. They need
explanations. Humans would rather make up a scary monster than believe wild
animals could kill their cattle. They do not want to be scared of every living creature.
A community will unknowingly create a monster so they only fear one creature,
rather than every creature. Another thing the legend of the Chupacabra says about

I remember sitting on the ground, next to my parents, fascinated by the opening
ceremony, by the fireworks and the abundance of things that were happening at the

games of the Olympics. It was unbelievable! So many people doing so many events

What fascinated me the most was the men and women who were jumping so high,

Compare And Contrast The Spirit Of Detroit And The
Last...
The two totally different pieces of art, The Spirit of Detroit and The Last Supper
both symbolize the same meaning, religion and human feelings. The Spirit of
Detroit and The Last Supper took three years to create their piece of art. The Last
Supper was started in 1495 and was finished in 1498. The Spirit of Detroitshows
symbolism by holding a bronze sphere that represents religion in his right hand, in
his left hand sits figures of a small family. The Last Suppershows their symbolism of
religion and family by coming together all as one religion for a dinner on the eve of
Jesuss crucifixion. Even though one is a sculpture and one is a painting made by two
different people, they both symbolize the same thing.
Marshall Fredrick created a very beautiful piece of art called The Spirit of Detroit .
This sculpture was created in 1958. This piece of art was made to represent the
city of Detroit, it became a Detroit symbol and landmark. Its name came from the
people of Detroit themselves, likely inspired by the biblical verse behind the figure
Corinthians 3:17: Now the Lord is that Spirit, and where The Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty (Spirit of Detroit). The statue sits in the core of downtown Detroit in
front of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center. The sculpture was 26 feet tall
and weighs sixty ton of marble. The sculpture costed $58,000 when it was first
built. In 2013, they reappraised the statue and it is now worth at least $1,000,000.
When The Spirit of Detroit was first built, it was the largest cast iron bronze statue
since the renaissance. The Spirit of Detroit is a man with his arms outstretched,
holding a bronze sphere symbolizing religion in his right hand, and in his left hand
sits figures of a small family. The statue s plaque reads, Through the Spirit of man is
manifested in the family, the noblest human relationship (Sternberg, Laura). The
Spirit of Detroit was given a nickname, The Jolly Green Giant because the bronze
statue tarnished and weathered green over the years of sitting outside. Throughout
the different sport seasons, they would put a Detroit Jersey on The Spirit of Detroit
during playoffs. The Spirit of Detroit reminds me a

Something I learned, that not many realize, is that each year two million people
acquire an infection while they are in the hospital. Mainly because the clinicians only
wash their hands one third to one half as many times as they should. Semmelweis,

By analyzing the patterns of injuries and treatment, other basic life saving measures
were implemented. For example, soldiers coming into treatment were found to be
without their Kevlar. When asked why? They would complain about the weight, the
heat, and the discomfort. Orders were issued that Kevlar was to be taken seriously
and the injuries became less frequent. Gawande s point is that reporting is vital to
diligence just as it was for the WHO supervisor fighting malaria; these doctors
recorded the details and results of each case. They understand, as Gawande writes,
that vigilance over the details of their own performance offered the only chance to do
better.
Chapter 4: Naked
The chapter is titled Naked and concerns the exam room etiquette that doctors and
patients expect from one another and often uncomfortably tiptoe around. There is an
allusion to a movie that has the female patient separated by a dark blanket like screen

Even though they are clearly audible to each other they wait until the boy speaks to
them. This is the matter of decency. According to this literature some doctors feel
uncomfortable with the whole process. There is really no

Acid Rain
Acid rain is a great problem in our world. It causes fish and plants to die because
earth s rainwaters are contaminated. It also causes harm to people as well, because
we eat fish, drink water and eat plants that are polluted by acid rain. It is a problem
that we must all face together and try to get rid of. However, acid rain on it s own is

Farmers put lime (a very strong alkaline substance) and special fertilizers in there soil
neutralize the acid in the soil on a regular daily basis.
In general, soil structure is classified as sandy, clay, or loam, although most garden
soils are mixtures of the three in varying proportions. A sandy soil is very loose
and will not hold water. A clay soil is dense and heavy, sticky when wet, and almost
brick hard when dry. Loam is a mixture of sand and clay soils, but it also contains
large quantities of humus, or decayed organic material, which loosens and aerates
clay soil and binds sandy soil particles together. In addition, humus supplies plant
nutrients. Then, soil structure can be improved by digging in compost, manure, peat
moss, and other organic matter.
Parts of western United States, Minneapolis, northeastern North America and east and
north Canada are places in North America where soil is more sensitive to acid
deposits then any other places. Many factors, including the soil chemistry and the
type of rock determine the environments ability to neutralize the acid deposits from
the rain.
Soils naturally contain small amounts of poisonous minerals such as mercury,
aluminum, and cadmium. Normally, these minerals do not cause serious problems,
but as the acidity of the soil increases, chemical reactions allow the minerals to be
absorbed by the plants. The plants are damaged and any animals that eat the plants

Science Is A Division Of Health Care
Radiologic science is a division of health care that deals with imaging for
diagnoses of diseases, broken bones, and other problems. A few examples of
radiologic sciences are sonography, X Ray, mammography, MRI, PET scan, CT
scans, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, and so much more. These tests are
completed using large devices that will take scans of your body, sometimes with the
help of dyes and gamma rays. All of the machines are different, but have one thing in
common: they all use technology! A recent advancement in X Ray is that technology
has been made to make the machines portable. This makes it more convenient for
both patients and healthcare workers because the patient can simply stay in one
location. The machine itself costs around $20,000 and are very compact, weighing
around ninety pounds. These machines upload the scans taken via wireless internet
connection and can be sent to anyone who has access, such as the patient and the
doctors who have that patient. Because it is all on a screen, there is no need to
physically print the X Rays, thus saving the film from being used. Along with
portable machines, hospitals and doctors offices are now introducing mobile phones,
tablets, and laptops into the system. These are helpful because doctors, nurses, and
patients can bring up their results at any time and any location, granted there is a
wireless connection. Mobile devices are great in an emergency setting because it is
something that is in someone s hands

The Active Role of the Media in Influencing Our Opinion...
Introduction
The globalization of media has broken down the communication barriers between
countries and is now more readily available and accessible than ever before. This
paper examines how the media plays an active role in influencing our opinion on
global politics in regards to the Arab Spring and the new revolution making its way
through the Middle East and North Africa. It will also examine the theories of the
CNN effect and the Manufacturing consent and how these define the relationship
between governments and the news media. The United States involvement with the
Hollywood industry raises concerns about this relationship and emphasizes the
importance to recognize the role of the media in global politics.
Media today has made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This rise of the Arab Spring, a revolution demonstrating the unity of Arab s across
the Middle East and North Africa, forced Ben Ali to be exiled to Saudi Arabia after
several weeks of protests against his authoritarian rule that had led to declining
socioeconomic conditions as well as the corruption of the president s extended
family. As to why it is important to recognize the media role in shaping societies
view on global politics, the use of media in Tunisia by the Arab Spring exposed a
different side of Ben Ali; who was for most of his years ruling, a convenient if
uncomfortable ally for the west. For the first time the rest of the world were given an
insight to what Ben Ali s authoritarian regime had done to his country, the high
unemployment rate and injustices across the region were along with many other
issues of national interest that risked the stability of his regime in the long term.
The ever increasing ways to communicate news media has led to a constant live
streaming of events anywhere around the world. The phrase CNN effect
encapsulates the theory that new media has the power to provoke responses from its
audiences as well as the political elite, to events on a global scale specifically chosen
by the dominant news corporations. The Bosnian War of the early 1990 s was
contested by most powerful nation s states such as the United States as a civil war
that did not need the intervention of
Sacrabani Deals With Bullying
I don t particularly like this section in the book as it deals with bullying. Bullying is
probably the worst thing a child could do to another child. If you bully, you may feel
better about yourself but you have to realize that the person you re bullying is hurting
on the inside. Sacrabani has to deal with bullyingfor possibly his whole life because
of the way he looks. The children make fun of him and call him things such as
bastard. Sacrabani hearing such words will bring his confidence down in the
future, preventing him from trying new things as he will fear he will get judged
for it. No matter what I do, no matter how old I get if I have to make a decision that
will change my life, I will ask for my parent s permission, unlike Murugan,
Vehicle Code 15620 Research Paper
While most parents have enough common sense to know not leave their infants and
very young children alone in a car, as children get older, there may be circumstances
where it does not seem unreasonable to do so. But is it ever okay to leave a child
unattended in a motor vehicle in the state of California? California Vehicle Code
15620, originally referred to as Kaitlyn s Law, was passed in 2001 after a six month
old baby named Kaitlyn Russell died as a result of being left alone in a parked car for
more than two hours. California Vehicle Code 15620 makes it a crime for parents,
legal guardians or any other responsible person to leave a child under six years of age
in a vehicle without the supervision of a person 12 years of age or older in
circumstances where: the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The outdoor temperature is the most obvious risk, especially in the summer in
warm weather climates like southern California. Many parents may not realize that
within as little as ten minutes the temperature of the average motor vehicle can
rise as much as twenty degrees. Even in the shade and with the windows open the
temperature of a car can quickly rise to the point of creating an increased risk of
heat stroke. Considering the fact that children tend to succumb to heat stroke much
more quickly and easily than adults, what may seem like mild weather to an adult
could be deadly to child left in such circumstances. A violation of California Vehicle
Code 15620 is considered an infraction punishable by a one hundred dollar fine and
a requirement to attend an educational class on the dangers of leaving children alone
in a vehicle. In accordance with the original provisions of Kaitlyn s Law, seventy
percent of the proceeds from fines collected are used for the development and
implementation of community education programs to raise public awareness of the
dangers of leaving children unattended in motor
Russia after the Fall of the Soviet Union
After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the world watched Russia closely as the
largest country remaining from the former superpower built itself into a democracy.
However, within a short amount of time, Russia has slipped into competitive
authoritarianism, giving much of the governmental power to its current president,
Vladimir Putin. In contrast, another semi presidential system, the governmentof
France, is a strong democracy. France s government has been largely successful
since the creation of the Fifth Republic in 1958 and the most recent constitution. In
addition to this, the roles of the president and prime minister have been balanced and
checked since President Charles de Gaulle stepped down in 1969. These two
countries, while sharing the same basic political skeleton, are vastly different in
power division and, ultimately, the success of democracy. Unlike France, Russias
democracy slid into competitive authoritarianism because of the overpowering
amount of unchecked power the president has. Since the writing of the Russian
constitution in 1993, the presidency has been a concentration of power that has
ultimately led to the demolition of democracy in the country in contrast to France s
success. The basis of the president s power in each respective country is vastly
different: in the 1993 Russian constitution, the president s powers are multifarious, in
the French Fifth Republic constitution, the president does not directly govern (Cases,
O Neil, 162). Much

My dad told me he hadn t been canoeing for over 47 years. I asked him why and he suddenly got quiet like he was trying to think of something to say. Eventually he just said he didn t like it anymore. I thought that was the end of the story because we never did go canoeing that day. A few days later my dad came up to me and said there was something he wanted to tell me. He seemed off edge and had been acting unusual the last couple of days. Eventually, he spoke up and said that he would go canoeing with me. Once we got in the water with the canoe, me sitting in front and my dad steering in the back, he started to tell me a story. He felt bad for not taking me sooner but he felt that I wasn t ready to hear what he was about to tell me. It was a story he had never told anyone before, and it was quite intriguing. He started off saying that he forgot the ending but he knew how it at least started so he decided to tell me that at least. It went a little bit like this: He slithered up the muddy slope, slipping on the moss and mud. Canoes parked on the edge of the river. He had never been so scared in his life. He might ve been climbing to what would eventually become a major injury or possibly death, but in his eyes, it was all worth it. It had been at least a week since he last saw someone besides the group he traveled with. It was a group of 5

Examples Of Mock Epic And Rape Of The Lock Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost all the characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. In the The Rape of the Lock there is an invocation to Muses, proposition of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, and journey on water, underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand action of a low subject produces comical laughter and makes the story more absurd. The subject matters in both of the epic poems are grand. The ritual sacrifices the Baron performs in the pre dawn hours are another mock epic element of the poem, mimicking the epic tradition of sacrificing to the gods before an important battle or journey. The fact that he discards all his other love tokens in these preparations reveals his untrustworthiness as a lover. An epic poem must contain episodes also. In the poem Rape of the Lock, Pope has introduced the episodes of the game of Omber which suggests the powerful battle and the cards involve the soldiers described in great detail. There is also the battle between lords and ladies just like the battle in epic poem. But in mock epic this battle is fought with fans and snuff instead of with swords and spears. There are single fight between Belinda and Baron and between Clarissa and Sir Plume. Another vital element of an epic is the active participation of supernatural machinery like god and goddesses. In The Rape of the Lock, there are sylphs and gnomes. These aerial spirits are small and insignificant things and are therefore, exactly in keeping with the triviality of the

In other words, individuals think that they are a part of one collective body, namely, a community known as nation, which is in fact an idea, defined by Benedict Anderson as an imagined political community . The survival of nations depend upon invention and performance of traditions, histories, symbols which help people sustain their identity. However, it mostly depends on nationality, traditions and narration of history, which are central elements. Therefore, national history is important in the sense that it narrates the past as a common experience that belongs to a community. It creates one particular version of the past and identity to constitute a common past and a collective identity of any given community. In other words, nations are imaginary communities, to use Benedict Anderson s phrase, and nationalism is based on the very concept of a unified imaginary community. Furthermore, nations also provide people

The Push Against Performance Summary Critique of The Push Against Performance Reviews by Vauhini Vara Performance reviews have often been considered a necessary evil of working in the corporate world. They provide a set of standards by which employees can be measured, for use in deciding who gets promoted, who gets the bonus, and who gets put on the dreaded performance improvement plan. Employee evaluations have been used for centuries, across all business sectors...but are they truly improving performance? One statement that is particularly troubling is the quote from Kevin Murphy a scientist and expert on performance appraisals from Colorado State University. In an email to the author, Murphy allegedly makes some comments around managers skewing evaluations due to their own incentives, and that even accurate feedback can feel biased and unfair , which can lead to poor relationships between management and employees. This statement paints current corporate culture with a broad brush, assuming management performs unethically to meet their targets, and that employees assume negative feedback is part of some vendetta against them. None of these statements are backed by anything resembling statistical data or scientific study. These appear to be the opinions of one person who is, apparently, an expert in performance appraisals (a fact which is also not backed by any supporting evidence). The Themes Of Entitlement In Lucky Jim By Kingsley Amis Sam Torabi Ms. Cordia British and World Literature 7 November 17, 2017 Entitlement for the Ages Stigmas, judgments, and misconceptions surround the newest generation of today s society, cleverly named the millennials, like a virus. This particular generation is often subject to criticism and even mockery, both justified and not justified. Similarly, the generation that is focused on in the events of the novel Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis has been given the title of entitled. This conception is shown through various characters and their respective developments, such as Jim, Dixon, and Bertrand. As Amis develops these characters, we begin to see why their reputation is both justified and not justified, and Amis leaves most of that interpretation open to the reader. Rather than forcing character traits by explicitly telling the audience how each character thinks, he uses point of view to open up major character decisions to the reader. In order to look at the general feelings and actions of characters through the lens of entitlement, it is important to define such a vague and often overused term. A TIME Magazine article, titled The Me Me Me Generation, focuses on why millennials are the most narcissistic, self centered generation in the history of western civilization. This attitude spreads not only among the upper and middle classes but reaches as far as those living in poverty, who are selfish but for entirely different reasons than their counterparts. According to the study, this movement of thinking inwards began with trying to artificially inflate the self esteem of young adults in order to prevent them from thinking terribly about the world around them. That self esteem movement began in the 70s, a decade of historical significance highlighted by the Cold War. The article further states that not all of this narcissism is not the fault of millennials, but because of the steady diet of entitlement, they have been fed. The author mentions that kids grow up watching reality shows, which are basically documentaries about narcissists. History classes frequently discuss how great the younger generation is now compared to the past, where everyone was a farmer of some kind. All of this evidence and

Without the United States, hip hop in Cuba certainly would not be where it is today. The United States is the hub of hip hop and helped to jumpstart hip hop in Cuba. While this is true, hip hop in the United States completely differs from that of Cuba for the better. Even though hip hop in Cuba did not start from much, the amount of development and influence this music has towards Cuba is immeasurable. Around 1970, 44 years ago, hip hop emerged in the West Bronx of New York. The culture of hip hop incorporates many aspects besides just the music itself, such as DJing, graffiti, breakdancing, and urban fashion. Hip hop mainly started from DJ s separating the break in rock, funk and other types of songs, as well as the MC playing a major role in the development of hip hop. In between the songs that the DJ was playing, the MC would speak in between the songs, make jokes and many other actions in order to get the crowd riled up. This eventually led up to the practice of hip hop to become more conventional, resulting in the forming of hip hop. Kool DJ Herc did all of this in 1970, who is believed to be the one who started the emergence of hip hop. At first, DJ Herc would deliver rhymes over reggae track; however, this did not engage people s attention enough. Because the people were not engaged, DJ Herc had to find another way to satisfy the audience, which came from him

Images Of Witchcraft During Renaissance Culture Images of Witchcraft in Renaissance Culture The witchcraft phenomenon of the Renaissance period was shaped by a wide range of cultural factors; witchcraft was not necessarily subject to a single cohesive idea or concept, and it was often instead a conglomeration of many different societal concerns, concerns which spanned through all spheres of society. Textual evidence from this period provides insight into the way in which witches were conceived, and how witches were dealt with, while visual images present a companion visualisation of the tensions, which influenced created the witch, and the imagery, which came to be associated with witchcraft. The 1486 Malleus Maleficarum set up the precedent for the witchcraft craze, which came to its prime in the mid 16th century, during the Renaissance period. Though the Malleus was not the only factor in this craze, as Margaret Sullivan notes, it made no discernable impact... for nearly half a century , it, with a number of other social factors, provided a wealth of information to witch hunts and hunters. This treatise further established several of the basic ideas essential to the identification of witches such as the identification of witches as largely women; through the treatise s continual argument that women were of gullible and carnal nature the text further advocated ideas of fear and hatred in regards to women. The first section describes the recent financial crisis or global economic recession. Section two reviews any similarities between the recent crisis and previous crises. Section three explores the measures taken by governments to prevent a reoccurrence of a financial crisis Section four discusses FDI and mergers and acquisitions. 2.2Financial Crisis/Global Economic Recession As defined by Eichengreen and Portes (1987) a financial crisis tends to be disruptions within financial markets and are characterised by falling asset prices and bankruptcy/liquidation among debtors which spread through the financial system, completely disrupting the markets capacity to allocate capital. It is clear that the crisis had multiple causes such as the financiers themselves especially those who claimed to have found a way to expel risk where in fact they had only lost track of it. Regulators and bankers are also to bear blame because they tolerated this recklessness. The macroeconomic backdrop was very important as years of low inflation and stable growth nurtured risk taking. Some research suggests that European banks should take blame as they borrowed greedily in American money markets pre crisis and used the funds to buy dodgy securities. All these factors together played a major role in the unravelling of the recent financial crisis

The fifth Symphony in C minor is rightly considered the paradigm of Beethoven s symphonies; the various alternatives to sonata form, explored in the piano works, are put to one side here in favor of the more rigorous example of Mozart, which is, however, raised to a superbly spectacular level.(Pestelli p.236) According to Pestelli, No other piece had ever organized the principles of contrast with such integration of metrical structure and thematic invention as does the first movement; the grand balancing of blocks of sound comes, as everyone knows, from a proverbial four note idea, an idea unusable by others, and in that sense a asocial , rather like the opening of Coriolan(1807), the overture for Collin s tragedy, with it s powerful swelling unisons that explode into chords.(236) This explains the why Beethoven s opening to Symphony No. five is so powerful and dominating to the listener s ear. The native people spoke variations of the Algonquian language, and their influence is also seen in the pidgin. The pidgin was mostly spoken between the Basque people and the native people, although the native people also used it when speaking to visiting Frenchmen. The Basque people were mostly seafarers and sheepherders, while the native people were mostly hunters and farmers. When these the two groups met it was usually to conduct trade of some sort. The Basque American Indian pidgin was a pidgin used to help the Basque people and the native people to communicate. The structured data is a type of data whose degree of organization is high, with a well defined data model, whereas Unstructured data is quite opposite to structured data which doesn t have well defined data structure and is not classified. The semi structured data is cross of structured data and unstructured data, it doesn t have a well defined structure, but has some properties of structured data. • 29. Pluto s Position On The Solar System Introduction Pluto s Position in the Solar System Pluto used to be considered the ninth planet of our solar system, but in 2006 Pluto s planetary classification was changed to a dwarf planet (Choi). Pluto is located in the Kuiper belt and it orbits beyond Neptune, which makes Pluto a trans Neptunian object, or TNO (Schneider and Arny 380 381). Plutos elliptical orbit of the sun takes 248 years, and on average it is approximately 3.6 billion miles from the sun (Dunbar). Pluto has an extremely cold atmosphere since it is so far away from the sun. On average, Pluto s atmospheric temperature is 390 degrees Fahrenheit, or 40 K (Schneider and Arny 380). NASA recently launched a new mission to explore Pluto and its atmosphere with the New Horizons spacecraft, and we have also learned new information about Pluto s topography. Pluto has many mountain ranges, lands with deep craters, frozen plains, and flowing nitrogen ice. The frozen plains on the eastern side of Pluto are believed to be younger than its deep cratered, western areas. The eastern plains of Pluto are only thought to be 100 million years old, and the western area may be billions of years old ( NASA s New Horizons Finds ). Pluto also has five moons that are being explored as part of the New Horizons mission. Pluto s moons are: Charon, Hydra, Nix, Styx, and Kerberos all of which have variable spin rates ( Last of Pluto s Moons ). Pluto s History of Discovery The first documented sightings of Pluto were in 1905 by

This strange alien like bipedal monster with red eyes and a long, thin row of spikes down its back rips its victims apart and removes the ears, eyes, lips, and some organs (Coleman). Also, it sometimes drains the blood completely. The creation of the Chupacabra says a great deal about humanity. The legend of the Chupacabra shows that humans want an explanation for abnormalities, let their imaginations run too wild, and need a scapegoat for their carelessness. The teacher analyzed the samples and found unknown chemicals that could kill germs. These chemicals were not able to be produced in nature. Only something or someone (the United States government) with good technology would be able to produce that kind of chemical. Also, at many mutilation sights, helicopters and bags of medical supplies have been found (Coleman). These different variations to the cause of cattle mutilations show the difference in the cultures of the United States and Latin America. The Latin American culture is known for its myths and superstitions, leaving everything up to the gods, while in the United States, the people are known to blame almost everything on the government. The legend of the Chupacabra says many things about the human race. One prominent thing it says about humanity is the need to explain the supernatural. Humans have always fabricated explanations to make sense of abnormal happenings. A few examples besides the legend of the Chupacabra are Bigfoot, werewolves, the Loch Ness Monster, and vampires. People do not like not knowing something. They need explanations. Humans would rather make up a scary monster than believe wild animals could kill their cattle. They do not want to be scared of every living creature. A community will unknowingly create a monster so they only fear one creature, rather than every creature. Another thing the legend of the Chupacabra says about

I remember sitting on the ground, next to my parents, fascinated by the opening ceremony, by the fireworks and the abundance of things that were happening at the same time. Every day after school I ran home and turned on the TV to watch the games of the Olympics. It was unbelievable! So many people doing so many events that I had never seen in my life: throwing sticks, jumping over little fences, running for hours, smashing a big metal ball in the ground and the list goes on. What fascinated me the most was the men and women who were jumping so high, that they were almost able to reach the sky with their hands while coming so close to knocking over the stick suspended in mid air in such a way that it was beauty itself. I recorded the event on a cassette and watched it over and over again until I understood the way how the athletes stepped, the method they used to jump, the style in which they were moving their body through the air, and finally how they landed gracefully on their back. It was a starting point of my lifetime goal: becoming a good High Jumper. At first I was just fooling around in the backyard, jumping over a piece of string attached to two sticks, just for fun, but then as time passed and my

The two totally different pieces of art, The Spirit of Detroit and The Last Supper both symbolize the same meaning, religion and human feelings. The Spirit of Detroit and The Last Supper took three years to create their piece of art. The Last Supper was started in 1495 and was finished in 1498. The Spirit of Detroitshows symbolism by holding a bronze sphere that represents religion in his right hand, in his left hand sits figures of a small family. The Last Suppershows their symbolism of religion and family by coming together all as one religion for a dinner on the eve of Jesuss crucifixion. Even though one is a sculpture and one is a painting made by two different people, they both symbolize the same thing. Marshall Fredrick created a very beautiful piece of art called The Spirit of Detroit . This sculpture was created in 1958. This piece of art was made to represent the city of Detroit, it became a Detroit symbol and landmark. Its name came from the people of Detroit themselves, likely inspired by the biblical verse behind the figure Corinthians 3:17: Now the Lord is that Spirit, and where The Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (Spirit of Detroit). The statue sits in the core of downtown Detroit in front of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center. The sculpture was 26 feet tall and weighs sixty ton of marble. The sculpture costed $58,000 when it was first built. In 2013, they reappraised the statue and it is now worth at least $1,000,000. When The Spirit of Detroit was first built, it was the largest cast iron bronze statue since the renaissance. The Spirit of Detroit is a man with his arms outstretched, holding a bronze sphere symbolizing religion in his right hand, and in his left hand sits figures of a small family. The statue s plaque reads, Through the Spirit of man is manifested in the family, the noblest human relationship (Sternberg, Laura). The Spirit of Detroit was given a nickname, The Jolly Green Giant because the bronze statue tarnished and weathered green over the years of sitting outside. Throughout the different sport seasons, they would put a Detroit Jersey on The Spirit of Detroit during playoffs. The Spirit of Detroit reminds me a

When asked why? They would complain about the weight, the heat, and the discomfort. Orders were issued that Kevlar was to be taken seriously and the injuries became less frequent. Gawande s point is that reporting is vital to diligence just as it was for the WHO supervisor fighting malaria; these doctors recorded the details and results of each case. They understand, as Gawande writes, that vigilance over the details of their own performance offered the only chance to do better. Chapter 4: Naked The chapter is titled Naked and concerns the exam room etiquette that doctors and patients expect from one another and often uncomfortably tiptoe around. Farmers put lime (a very strong alkaline substance) and special fertilizers in there soil neutralize the acid in the soil on a regular daily basis. In general, soil structure is classified as sandy, clay, or loam, although most garden soils are mixtures of the three in varying proportions. A sandy soil is very loose and will not hold water. A clay soil is dense and heavy, sticky when wet, and almost brick hard when dry. Loam is a mixture of sand and clay soils, but it also contains large quantities of humus, or decayed organic material, which loosens and aerates clay soil and binds sandy soil particles together. In addition, humus supplies plant nutrients. Then, soil structure can be improved by digging in compost, manure, peat moss, and other organic matter. Parts of western United States, Minneapolis, northeastern North America and east and north Canada are places in North America where soil is more sensitive to acid deposits then any other places. Many factors, including the soil chemistry and the type of rock determine the environments ability to neutralize the acid deposits from the rain. Soils naturally contain small amounts of poisonous minerals such as mercury, aluminum, and cadmium. Normally, these minerals do not cause serious problems, but as the acidity of the soil increases, chemical reactions allow the minerals to be absorbed by the plants. A few examples of radiologic sciences are sonography, X Ray, mammography, MRI, PET scan, CT scans, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, and so much more. These tests are completed using large devices that will take scans of your body, sometimes with the help of dyes and gamma rays. All of the machines are different, but have one thing in common: they all use technology! A recent advancement in X Ray is that technology has been made to make the machines portable. This makes it more convenient for both patients and healthcare workers because the patient can simply stay in one location. The machine itself costs around $20,000 and are very compact, weighing around ninety pounds. These machines upload the scans taken via wireless internet connection and can be sent to anyone who has access, such as the patient and the doctors who have that patient. Because it is all on a screen, there is no need to physically print the X Rays, thus saving the film from being used. Along with portable machines, hospitals and doctors offices are now introducing mobile phones, tablets, and laptops into the system. These are helpful because doctors, nurses, and patients can bring up their results at any time and any location, granted there is a wireless connection. Mobile devices are great in an emergency setting because it is something that is in someone s hands

Russia after the Fall of the Soviet Union After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the world watched Russia closely as the largest country remaining from the former superpower built itself into a democracy. However, within a short amount of time, Russia has slipped into competitive authoritarianism, giving much of the governmental power to its current president, Vladimir Putin. In contrast, another semi presidential system, the governmentof France, is a strong democracy. France s government has been largely successful since the creation of the Fifth Republic in 1958 and the most recent constitution. In addition to this, the roles of the president and prime minister have been balanced and checked since President Charles de Gaulle stepped down in 1969. These two countries, while sharing the same basic political skeleton, are vastly different in power division and, ultimately, the success of democracy. Unlike France, Russias democracy slid into competitive authoritarianism because of the overpowering amount of unchecked power the president has. Since the writing of the Russian constitution in 1993, the presidency has been a concentration of power that has ultimately led to the demolition of democracy in the country in contrast to France s success. The basis of the president s power in each respective country is vastly different: in the 1993 Russian constitution, the president s powers are multifarious, in the French Fifth Republic constitution, the president does not directly govern (Cases, O Neil, 162).
