Rosh Hashanah Essay
Rosh Hashanah
Rosh Hashanah heads the year of Jewish festivals and traditions. Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish
New Year and is usually celebrated for two days in September or October, depending on when it
falls in the Hebrew calendar. Rosh Hashanah celebrates the creation of the world and is a time for
reflection and self evaluation. It is celebrated on the first day of the seventh month (the month of
Tishri). Rosh Hashanah is celebrated by
Orthodox Jews everywhere and is one of the Jewish tradition s holiest days. Rosh Hashanah is the
Jewish New Year but, in contrast with the New Year of other peoples, it is greeted not with noise
and joy, but with a serious and repentant heart. Rosh Hashanah is known by many names and ...

After they light the candles and say kuddish, each person at the table dips a slice of apple into
the honey. Then a blessing is recited over the fruit. A pomegranate is said to has 613 seed. This
number corresponds to the number of mitzvoth, or types of good deeds, that Jews as a society
must perform. A pomegranate on the holiday table announces to the heavenly court that as many
seeds as there are, that s how many good deeds have been performed over the year. Hallah bread
is commonly served on Rosh Hashanah. A ladder, turban like shape, to the Hallah bread
expresses the wish that the family s prayers might ascend to heaven. Dough baked in the shape
of a bird also represents the same wish. It also stands for the words of the prophet Isaiah: As
birds protect their young, so will God protect Jerusalem. Some time between Rosh Hashanah and
Yom Kippur, it is customary to throw bread crumbs into a body of water as a symbolic act of
repentance. Most Jews do tashlich the afternoon of the first day of Rosh Hashanah. Family and
friends gather together at the waterfront to cast away the sins of the past year and resolve to be
better in the year to come. Tashlich is a way to admit our own faults and symbolically shed the
baggage if last year s mistakes. In the villages of Eastern Europe it was custom before the

The Events Of The Arab Spring Act
The 2011 Arab Spring act started in Egypt and Tunisia, which later inspired Syrian s to take to
the streets and demonstrate against Assad. Syrians all over voiced their unhappiness with the
stagnant political process and were advocating for new democratic reforms. A person who has
been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster is what
we call a Refugee, but with the current war on Terrorism/ISIS it is hard to distinguish whether
they are really refugees or working with ISIS. More than four million refugees of the Syrian Civil
war have fled Syria, and left to neighboring countries such as Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, and
some even ended up in the Persian Gulf, Europe, and North Africa. The... Show more content on

The movement began as a peaceful demonstration but eventually outside forces joined and began
to use this movement for other purposes mainly violent ones. The protests turned into massive
ones around March of the same year and thousands of people took the streets of Syria in peaceful
protests. Later in April 2011, the Syrian government has decided to send out the military to subdue
the protests. Opposition groups began to arm themselves and fight back after this, and they were
aided by the Syrian military members who joined them as well. The government was not happy
about these protests and they responded with extreme measures such as torturing and killing
protesters, kidnapping, and mistreatment. The government troops opened fire on civilians and the
civilians fired back in response to this. The result of this was the Syrian army quickly turning this
to an armed conflict. Daily, terrorist groups sabotage innocents, blow up buildings/infrastructure,
bomb roads, and murder civilians in mass scales. Many communities are destroyed and terrorized,
families are displaced and broke apart, and people are being murdered on the streets security
officials and civilians. These evil acts are being put through by the Free Syrian Army, as well as
some ISIS overlap. With the continuous bombings, deaths, and uncertainty in these Syrian civilians

Doctor Who Research Paper
Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC from 1963
to the present day. The programme depicts the adventures of the Doctor, a Time Lord a space
and time travelling humanoid alien. He explores the universe in his TARDIS, a sentient time
travelling space ship. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight
in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired. He is accompanied by companions, and he combats a
variety of foes while working to save civilisations and help people in need.
The show is a significant part of British popular culture, and elsewhere it has become a cult
television favourite. The show has influenced generations of British television professionals, many

It was to be a regular weekly programme, each episode 25 minutes of transmission length.
Discussions and plans for the programme had been in progress for a year. The head of drama,
Canadian Sydney Newman, was mainly responsible for developing the programme, with the first
format document for the series being written by Newman along with the head of the script
department Donald Wilson and staff writer C. E. Webber. Writer Anthony Coburn, story editor
David Whitaker and initial producer Verity Lambertalso heavily contributed to the development of
the series. The programme was originally intended to appeal to a family audience, as an
educational programme using time travel as a means to explore scientific ideas and famous
moments in history. On 31 July 1963 Whitaker commissioned Terry Nation to write a story under
the title The Mutants. As originally written, the Daleks and Thals were the victims of an alien
neutron bomb attack but Nation later dropped the aliens and made the Daleks the aggressors.
When the script was presented to Newman and Wilson it was immediately rejected as the
programme was not permitted to contain any bug eyed monsters . The first serial had been
completed and the BBC believed it was crucial that the next one be a success, but The Mutants was
the only script ready to go, so the show had little choice but to

Analysis Of The Painting Course Of Empire Destruction By...
Destruction is an exterior of tragedy that may come in many forms. When people hear the word
destruction they may think of their own personal experience of destruction or tragedy. That may
range from a house being torn apart by a tornado to a loss of a family member or president being
assassinated. The effects of destruction are tremendous and terrible. That could affect one to
thousands of people at a time resulting in massively spread pain and suffering. In the painting
Course of Empire Destruction, by Thomas Cole (1836), there is a mass tragedy being painted. The
tragedy being painted is the Vandals attack on Rome in 455. The pain and devastation was captured
in this painting perfectly, through many colors and symbols, which affected thousands of people in
many different ways. Cole used many techniques to show the enemy warriors taking over the town.
Cole s use of colorand symbols reflect the destruction of the town. In the painting, Cole uses many
colors and symbols to illustrate the effect of the attack. An old sandy color bridge is cast upon the
middle of the painting, which is crumbling apart and crashing into the water. The water in this
painting is dark blue and whiteshowing the choppiness of the water. In the middle of the painting
is a white statue with its head broken off, but still standing, holding a black shield leaning forward
towards the center of the painting. In the background, fire and gray and black smoke cover the

Introduction
Smoking tobacco cigarettes has been recognized as the leading cause of lung cancer and other
health related illnesses in the developed world. But there is a new emergence of electronic
cigarettes, which can deliver nicotine without the vast range of carcinogens and toxins found in a
regular tobacco cigarette. Of course, this is a very controversial topic in which creates a dilemma,
some people approve the use of electronic cigarettes as an alternative to tobacco cigarettes. In the
other hand there is people with negative views on the use of an e cigarette as an alternative to a
regular tobacco cigarette. My research will target a specific population, college students and their
point of view on the use of electronic cigarettes. I am interested to find what are college students at
CSUSB perceptions of the health impacts of electronic cigarettes? Are college students more
susceptible to use electronic cigarettes as an alternative to tobacco cigarettes?
Goals
In my research, I want to find out if perception plays a role in decision making. In this case I want
to know if college student perceptions of electronic cigarettes at CSUSB impacts their decision
making. For example, a student who believes e cigarettes are less harmful than tobacco cigarettes
is more likely to use electronic cigarettes. In the other hand, a student who believes e cigarettes are
more harmful

The Development Of A Driverless Car
Introduction With the advancement in technologies and researches, driverless vehicles, or
autonomous car, would soon be more realistic and common replacement to our traditional cars.
Several major companies and organization have been working on the development for this
technology. In 1980, Mercedes Benz undertook the UREKA Prometheus project and built their
first driverless car. Late in 2007, six autonomous vehicles successfully completed a 90 kilometer
test course of simulated urban traffic (Hars, 2010). In the beginning of 2013, we had the
autonomous car although it was in development stage. It could drive autonomously for hundreds
of thousands of miles. These technologies started showing up in the market for consumer with
some improvement to the system: Cruise control: It keeps the car in constant speed without
applying gas by the driver. Anti lock brakes: This system has the ability to prevent the locking of
brakes, when the driver fully applying for brakes. Stability and traction control: This system uses
digital encoder. It uses different sensors to determine dangerous situations such as car skid or
roll over, and tries to prevent it. It is able to monitor the car s direction speed, and contact
pressure between the wheels and the road. The system also could apply brakes or adjust the
pressure on each wheel when the car goes out of control. Pre accident system: It s an imminent
sensor which activates during a car crash and reduces the injuries. This system is able

The Crime Of The City Of Peoria And On Campus Essay
Location of a university is a contributing factor to the safety of the students and campus. The
overall crime rating of the university is based on reported crime on campus and in surrounding
areas. Colleges with low amounts of reported crime are valued as being safer. Bradley University
earns an overall crimerating of C when comparing on campus, city, and regional crime against all
other schools nationwide. According to the data, Bradley s campus rated as a D+, Peoria rated as
an F+, the region rated as a D ( Bradley University Crime ). In this section, I will be addressing the
crime factors related to the city of Peoria and on campus.
City
According to the crime index, Peoria is considered to be safer than 7% of the cities in the US. In
Illinois, more than 97% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Peoria. When compared
to other communities with a similar population size, Peoria s crime rate is higher than average (
Crime Rates for Peoria, IL ). Like most cities, Peoria is going to have records of violent offenses
including things like rape, murder and non negligent manslaughter, armed robbery, and aggravated
assault. But different areas of Peoria are going to differ on their crime rate based on the class level
that lives there and the security precautions taken in that area. Because a lot of students will be
living off campus in houses or apartments, it is important for Bradley to understand the likelihood
of a crime involving those students might face while not

Operation Sovereign Borders
This report is directly concerned with the Australian Government s policies under Operation
Sovereign Borders, its Regional Resettlement Arrangement with Papua New Guinea (PNG), and the
Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Nauru, which remove, lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender and intersex (LGBTI) irregular maritime arrivals to countries where their fundamental
reason for seeking asylum persecution on grounds relating to their sexual orientation and/or gender
identity is sufficient cause for further persecution, and even criminal sanction, in the recipient
country. This report reveals that by transferring LGBTI asylum seekers to countries which intend to
persecute them on the same grounds for which they originally sought asylum, Australiais breaching
its international human rights obligations by directly undermining the principle of non refoulement .
To address these concerns and ensure that the rights of LGBTI asylum seekers are protected, the
Commission recommends that the Australian Government adopt an on shore processing solution
for irregular maritime arrivals. Due to the vulnerable position of sexual minorities in detention, the
Commission also urges the Government to implement community detention arrangements for all
LGBTI asylum seekers awaiting refugee status determination s (RSD). In addition, increased

The law assumes that all parents will protect and promote the interests of their children, however
some do not. Therefore the state has the power to intervene and remove children from their
parents to protect them from any harm. This form of child protection is the states greatest power.
The local authority (LA) have a duty to investigate complaints if they have reason to believe that
a child is at risk; this is demonstrated in the scenario where the school follows their child
protection procedure and the social services department of the LA were alerted. The LA can offer

The heart breaking case of Victoria Climbie [2000] led to the Laming Report . In this case, two
hospitals and two child protection teams were involved, twelve different services saw her before
her death and no one took the steps to protect her. Lord Laming said ignorance is not an excuse and
the blame could not be passed on junior staff.
Therefore in this scenario, the LA have the duty to investigate the number of concerns which
have come up about Ewan and Callum. The red flags in this scenario are that Ewan, who is 9,
and Callum, who is 13, have both suffered physically with bruises and a black eye. Both of their
school attendances are poor and they have been acting aggressively during school. Ewan was also

environment as it is very untidy and dirty, Julie s boyfriend also threatened the social worker Boris.
Boris also stated that Julie was agitated which may indicate mental health problems or that she is a

The American Public Education System
There are many problems in the American public education system today. Some of those include
the quality of teachers, who have no real passion for the job, and are only allowed to remain in the
position because of tenure privileges. Another issue is the state budgets that are allowed for public
schools, with some states investing billions of dollars, and others prioritizing it lower on the list. In
hot debate today is standardized testing, and the negative effect that it has on high schooleducation,
with the limits it places on teachers and what they have time to teach in the classrooms. One of the
biggest problems in the American public education system is the lack of a common standard for
what students should be learning, and when they should learn it. In other words, the inequality of
curriculums across the nation is affecting the preparedness of students when they venture out
beyond the public school system, for the worst. The way to fix this problem, according to many
teachers, administrators, and politicians, is by implementing a common curriculum across the
nation that will ensure that the quality of a student s education is not determined by where they
happen to live. The Common Core State Standard curriculum is the solution to the unequal
education problem in public schools. The purpose of the CCSS is to set goals for each grade level,
so that each student, parent, and teacher knows what the student is expected to leave the grade

Analysis Of Tick Tock By Brian Eno
Tick Tock is an ambient piece of music that was made as a direct influence of Brian Eno s four
part ambient series of albums. 2/1 in particularly from Music for Airports is a reference for the
aesthetics of the sound design in the song which has a lot of darkened textures and is almost
lullaby esque in nature. A lot of randomness is often found within the ambient genre as a piece is
meant to demonstrate an ever evolving state. This is hard to express in a one minute piece
however, so a constant tempo was decided upon for the piece. To introduce some kind of
randomness into it, the vocal part begins playing on different beats through out the evolution of the
music. Minimalist music had a massive influence of Eno s music and I also wanted to take the
aesthetics of that genre and try to apply it into my music. As a result of this, only using the three
selected sounds allowed me to avoid overcrowding the piece which isn t meant to be imposing in
nature i.e. background music.
The sound is derived from a vocal part saying tick tock and heavily laden with a clear long hall
reverb to give a huge depth to the voice. A slight delay on the voice is introduced halfway through
the piece to represent the ever evolving state in ambient music. The piano sound is a grand piano
mixed with a long hall reverb with a soft attack and medium long release to produce a dream like
characteristic as well as provide a deeper spacial texture to the soundscape. The third sound was a
string sound that

Abstract: Nowadays for each and every designing in VLSI era the power consumption plays a vital
role. Low power has emerged as a principal theme in today s electronics industry. The low power
VLSI design has important role in designing of many electronic design systems. On designing any
combinational or sequential circuits, the power consumption, implementation area, voltage leakage,
and efficiency of the circuit are the important parameters to be considered initially. This paper
proposes a low power and area efficient shift register using pulsed latches. The area and power
consumption are reduced by replacing flip flops with pulsed latches. This method solves the timing
problem between pulsed latches through the use of multiple non overlap delayed pulsed clock
signals instead of the conventional single pulsed clock signal. The shift register uses a small
number of the pulsed clock signals by grouping the latches to several sub

Examples Of Logical Fallacies In Advertising
Advertisements are everywhere, on television, radio, social media, billboards, magazines, and
even on yearbooks. On the other hand, would it not be nice if every advertisement an individual
saw, read, or heard were actually true? Like using Axe body spray really did attract women or
eating Snickers really made one satisfied in seconds? Yet, most of the times the advertisements that
seem too good to be true, actually are. In fact, many ads are only slightly true and instead filled
with many common errors in reasoning, known as logical fallacies, a sneaky marketing technique
many companies use to trick a consumer into giving them their undivided attention and money. In
fact, one well known company for using logical fallacies in their advertisements... Show more

Plain folk is the marketing strategy where advertisers portray a person like a well known
celebrity like Lindsey Lohan as a person who is in fact, normal or an everyday Joe. For instance,
Lohan explains that even though she is a singer and actress she is just like anyone else, a person
who struggles with having unclear, bumpy, and acne prone skin stating, I m a normal person and
I do get zits and I m not happy when I do so I like to try and find anything that s preventative
towards it and Proactiv has done that for me. By promoting a person, in this case as Lindsay Lohan,
a person who suffers from the same problems as acne, like anyone else, people gain trust and feel
comforted, resulting in the individual being more open and willing to buy a product. Then again
Proactiv is not the only company that has used and uses logical fallacies in their advertisements to
trick people into buying their products. In fact, if one were to close enough to the advertisements
and commercials that are around them, they would start to see how life is filled with false
statements, logical fallacies, and ultimately scams. Perhaps, people will think twice and be more
cautious when buying a product, knowing that in the end they might just be wasting their

Wuthering Heights Conspiracy
Throughout the compelling conspiracy of Wuthering Heights, Emily BrontГ«, creates an
inhospitable and ominous estate, known as the Heights, that mirrors the savage inhabitants

Heathcliff. In the exposition, the reader gets a clear idea that the Heights is a dim, depressing,

Disney Misogyny
In Disney films, there is a lot of misogyny amongst female main characters. Many people in our
society have noticed a significant difference in the speaking roles between male and female
characters that Disney created, as men had way more lines than the women. Because these
movies were mostly created in the mid late 1900 s, this was the time that there was plenty of
prejudice against females. Now, in the year 2017, females are getting a little more equality than
before to the point where many females now have jobs that were only for males in the 1900 s.
Most Disney movies for that matter involve some sort of misogyny, even the ones that recently
came out such as Brave and Frozen . Examples of various levels of misogyny can be noticed in
Disney films such as Arielin The Little Mermaid(1989), directed by Ron Clements and John
Musker. The movie is about a 16 year old mermaid who wants to live on land with a human
Prince named Eric but is only able to after making a dangerous wish with Ursula the Sea Witch to
be a human for three days. In this movie Ariel The Mermaid , prejudice can be seen in Ursula, by a
femalehaving too much authority, Ariel cannot speak, and Ariel uses her appearance to attract others.
Firstly, Ursula the Sea Witch can be seen with a ton of power. The power turns Ursula evil and
manipulative, which shows that females that have too much power should be removed from
society, just like Ursula. ...And now, look at me wasted away to practically

The Hidden Life Behind The Zika Virus
The Hidden Life behind the Zika Virus As a pharmacy major, this semester I took the class
medical microbiology. As we talked about different diseases, we briefly touched on the history
of some of the diseases and it made me very curious to learn more about how the history of
medicine has shaped our world today. So, for this final paper I thought it would be a great way to
explore more about world history, through the lens of medicine. For the past few months, the Zika
Virus has been a hot topic in the news due to its recent outbreaks in the United States.
Zika virus was first discovered in 1947 in Uganda and is spread through the bite of an infected
mosquito. It can cause a fever, joint pain, a rash, and pink eye, but most ... Show more content on

Edward Jenner was a scientist in London at the time who made the connection that his milkmaids,
who had been infected with cowpox, were immune to smallpox. This connection is how Jenner
created the first smallpox vaccine using cowpox because it provided immunity for smallpox. This
was a revolutionary event in history, vaccines have been developed for diseases like chicken pox,
shingles, polio, influenza, and many others. Although there is no vaccine for the Zika virus,
because of Jenner s findings, it is quite possible that there could be a vaccine for Zika Virus in the
future.
The Industrial Revolution time period was not only at time for new technologies and factories,
but it was a key time for breakthroughs in medicine. Before the Industrial Revolution, many
scientists thought that some diseases randomly grew out of non living objects, miasmas or fogs,
in the air. In the mid 1800s, a chemist by the name of Louis Pasteur proved this wrong and he
showed that diseases were actually caused by microscopic organisms in the environment. This
discovery was revolutionary; now doctors were able to begin finding prevention methods or
cures for diseases. There is so much that happens in the world today that we can trace back to
Pasteur s discovery. Without his findings, there would be no way to protect from treatable
diseases. Because of Pasteur s discovery, more research will be able to be done about Zika virus
because it is failure unfamiliar to most people

The Interplay Between Human Laws And Divine Law In...
Sophocles Antigone focuses on the interplay between human laws and divine laws. Although the
divines do not directly appear in the play, their rules strongly affect characters behaviors. Although
the actions of the characters as well as the conclusion of the play demonstrate deities superior status
to humans, the divine is unable to assume certain roles in the humanworld. The play s first
stasimon, also known as the Ode to Man , is one of the most obvious clues that the divine is
superior to humans. The stasimon describes the wondrous power of human beings while stresses
that only if we honor the laws and the oath bound justice of the gods (370), can we be successful.
In the case of human refusing to respect the gods, our special status would fall. The play starts with
Antigone, late king Oedipuss daughter, agonizing to her sister Ismene over the death of her
brothers Polynices and Eteocles, who die over a bloody conflict over Oedipus succession. In her
agony, Antigone describes the bloody civil war as the final penalty to Zeus for Oedipus (3). Zeus,
according to Antigone, is the master behind Oedipus s downfall and the plague against her family.
Since Eteocles was the ruler of the city, and Polynices rebelled, Creon, the new king, decrees that
no one shall bury Polynices. Creon justifies his decisions based on the chorus s statement that
chance and the gods make him king (157) as well as the consideration that the decision would
bring stability. Creon also claims that as long as he remains reverent to Zeus (304), his words
will carry absolute authority. Loving her brother, Antigone, however, decides to go against Creon
s decree and bury her brother. She calls not burying Polynices an insult to what the gods believe
everyone deserves a proper burial. Soon, a watchman captures Antigone and brings her in front of
Creon for questioning (432 440). Antigone justifies her argument against Creon s decree by
arguing that Polynices deserves a proper burial like anyone else does since it was the intention of
Hades, the god of the underworld. She believes Creon, a human being, cannot make laws with
enough power to trample the gods unfailing, unwritten laws (456 457). Antigone s argument leaves

The Effects Of Reading Fluency On Reading Comprehension Essay
Introduction
Numerous experts have specified that a deficiency of reading fluency seems to be the area of
extreme impairment in reading. According to Huemer and Mann (2009), children with ASD have
been reported to show a disassociation between decoding and comprehension . Children with ASD
usually have a higher leverl of reading compared to their reading comprehension. Overall, the
evidence suggests that children with ASD have low levels of reading accuracy, which implicates
weak decoding skills as being one of the factors in reading comprehension deficits in ASD (Huemer
and Mann).
National Reading Panel define fluency as reading text with speed, accuracy, and proper expression.
(2000, p. 3 1). Reading Fluency has three interdependent distinct elements which are accuracy, rate,
and prosody. Several decades of scientific research by National Institute of Child Health and Human
Development [NICHD], clearly shows effective reading instruction addresses five critical areas:
Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. Research points out that
Reading Fluency helps build a bridge between basic word decoding and comprehension.
The baseline project will focus on Fluency. Fluency is identified by the words in a text rapidly
and accurately and using phrasing and emphasis in a way that makes what is read sound like
spoken language (NICHD report of 2000). The reasoning for fluency being important is research
identified a close relationship between

Computer Security And Information Assurance
The academic disciplines of computer security and information assurance emerged along with
numerous professional organizations all sharing the common goals of ensuring the security and
reliability of information systems. ROT5 is a practice similar to ROT13 that applies to numeric
digits (0 to 9). ROT13 and ROT5 can be used together in the same message. ROT47 is a
derivative of ROT13 which, in addition to scrambling the basic letters, also treats numbers and
common symbols. Instead of using the sequence A Z as the alphabet, ROT47 uses a larger set of
characters from the common character encoding known as ASCII. Specifically, the 7 bit printable
characters, excluding space from decimal 33 ! through 126 ~ , 94 in total, taken in the order of the
numerical values of their ASCII codes, are rotated by 47 positions, without special consideration to
case. For example, the character A is mapped to p, while a is mapped to 2. The use of a larger
alphabet produces an obfuscation than that of ROT13; for example, a telephone number such as
+1(positive) (negative)415 (negative)839 (negative)6885 is not obvious at first sight from the
scrambled result Z`c`dgbheggd. On the other hand, because ROT47 introduces numbers and
symbols into the mix without discrimination, it is more immediately obvious that the text has been
enciphered. The Mora Brothers felt that the Constitution guaranteed basic privacy and
confidentiality, they also saw this being tossed out the window recently by

The Causes Of Video Games And Videogames Cause Violence
Columbine, Connecticut and virginia all of these places burdened with tragedy. Families, loved

And finally Ethical issues, which is the most important from my point of view. This is the part were
my project could connect to Martin s lecture. It gives data about child labour in different countries
in different industries. It argues that our society should educate consumers better to know more

Diabetes Affects The Body
Diabetes is a disease that affects the use of insulin in the body. According to the Merriam Webster
Online Dictionary diabetes mellitus is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism caused by a
combination of hereditary and environmental factors and usually characterized by inadequate
secretion or utilization of insulin, by excessive urine production, by excessive amounts of sugar in
the blood and urine, and by thirst, hunger, and loss of weight ( Diabetes Mellitus). This disease not
only impacts the amounts of sugar in the blood, it also has lasting effects on the rest of the body.

Type one is characterized as an autoimmune disease, because the body targets it s own beta cells
in the pancreas. The beta cells are cells that produce insulin for the entire body. The body stops
making insulin, causing people to become insulin dependent. An insulin dependent person would
use insulin injections or an insulin pump ordinarily to manage their sugar levels. Type two
diabetes is different. The body of a type two diabetic no longer responds to the body made insulin.
Beta cells destroy themselves from the overproduction of insulin because the cells themselves try
to compensate for the deficiency of insulin. Type two is either treated without medications like
exercise and diet or with insulin tablets. But, there are some occurrences in which insulin injections
would be needed ( Differences Between Type 1 and Type 2 ). Both types are dangerous if not

Staging Photojournalism In Believing Is Seeing
Staging Photojournalism Mostly the reason for staging a journalism photo is to get an idea across
to the person viewing it. The main reason for photojournalism is be able to capture a picture that
can tell the audience a story, and photographers have to figure out how to make their photos more
interesting to the viewerВґs eye. Some may argue that the staging of the photo can change the
meaning of it, which is true. However, this depends on how a photographer decides to stages a
photo. There are two ways of staging that I see most often; moving an object that was already
supposed to be in the photo around, and adding or removing that object from the photo. Moving
objects around to stage photojournalism does not change the meaning of the photo as well as
adding or removing the object. The meaning of the photo means what the viewer sees and makes

The photographer, Ben Curtis, in chapter five of, Believing Is Seeing , makes it clear that he did
not create that scene himself, but rather he stumbled upon the Mickey Mouse toy lying on the

photo because he had decided to snap a photo of not just the Mouse toy by itself, but also with the
destruction of the buildings in the background. During class, it was brought to our attention that the
photo s meaning would have been different if the Mickey Mouse had not been included in the

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
Life Back Overlooked
Electroconvulsive therapy (also called ECT) is a form of therapy invented in the 1930 s which
uses electrodes to shock and trigger a seizure in a patient to help with rebalancing the chemicals
in the brain s system. The patient is first placed under a general anesthesia and given muscle
relaxants so that they are asleep during the procedure and it won t cause them pain. Two
electrodes attached to the patient s scalp and which when stimulated will create a seizure. The
seizure is brief and only lasts for about a minute and the patient is carefully monitored to ensure
that everything is going as it is supposed to. Afterwards, they are monitored for any side effects or
unusual behavior caused from the treatment. ECT is most commonly used for extreme cases of
depression but is also used to help with mania, catatonia, and some cases of schizophrenia. ECT is a

This article explores how the Boomerang effect , when applied to low priced discounts, can cause a

different types of conditions (essential and nonessential purchases), that are primarily based on the
theory of purchase habits (Grewal, Monroe, Krishnan, 1998). This research argues that not all

the playwright s point of view rather than a slice from reality. This made audiences react with
curiousity and participate in a dialogical argument criticising their own life and what they could
do to change it rather than an emotional and empathic response that accepts events in the play as a
slice of reality, accepted as the norm. He wanted his audiences to adopt a critical perspective in
order to recognise social injustice and to go forth and transform the reality.
Bertolt utilised specific techniques to intentionally disillusion the audience throughout the play.
One of the main techniques that Bertolt utilised was exposing the construction and mechanisms of
theatre to the audience. By emphasizing the spectator s awareness of the methods of its production,
his shows aimed to expose the contradictions between the characters ideology and purpose. Such
techniques included flooding the stage with harsh white light, regardless of where the action was
taking place, and leaving the stage lamps in full view of the audience; making use of minimal props
and indicative scenery; intentionally

Analysis of Robert ForstВґs Mending Wall Essay
Robert Frost deliberated a intention and was determined to get it across any way that he could.
He verbalized his feelings through Walls and Blockages, Descriptive words, and Seasons and
Nature. The aspiration of walls in this piece is to block neighbors and assemble a better
relationship. Descriptive words are used to portray a improved visual of what is designed to see.
Robert Frostspeaks of seasons as if it were a human.
Wall s are blockages used to isolate a human beings wants and feelings. Privacy should be
respected by all although offensiveness was not intended by either neighbor. The speaker s logic
was that the wall blocking the properties were absurd. The essential purpose of the poem is the
desire by one neighbor to have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robert Frost used a word choice that shaped the readers mind into the outdoor scenery where the
dog is on one side of the fence barking.
Robert Frost is a major nature enthusiast. In the poem, Mending Wall, the speaker talks about the
Spring. Taking a literal approach, he used Spring, because it is the first season of the year. A new
beginning for two people that have had a protracted antagonism for one another. The speaker does
not understand how they are becoming good neighbors, because they are not cows. People often
use nature to express new beginnings and the start of something new.
Nature is a description of a Season. Seasons are the start of a new beginning. The speaker uses
the word Spring, possibly because it is the first official and whole season of the year. The neighbor
could be expressing how he thinks they should break the wall down and start over. A new
beginning is what he desires.
The speaker wants nothing but a friendship with his neighbor but the neighbor wants the privacy
that he feels he is entitled to. The speaker expresses how the neighbor is a pine cone. Pine cones are
hard and nettlesome. Pine cones are very arduous. Attempting to express his feelings, the speaker
could be referring to the neighbor as a pine cone, because no matter how bad he tries, the neighbor
will not break into fragments.
The last word or phrase that Robert Frost expressed within the poem was cows. The neighbor
thinks it is ridiculous to have

Fire Imagery In Aeneas And Creusa
As singer Alexander Nestor Haddaway once sang, What is love? It is an enduring question, and one
that many artists have attempted to answer throughout the centuries. Today however, the focus is
on one artist (Virgil), one book (The Aeneid), and one character (Aeneas). According to Aeneas,
there are two fundamental kinds of love, passionate love and pious love. With the use of fire
imagery, Virgil makes references to these two forms of love. However, he makes it clear that they
are very different and are not to be confused with one another. A conflict occurs between these two
different forms of love which causes each to highlight the other.
With the passionate romance of Aeneas and Dido, as well as Aeneas and Creusa, Virgil uses

When Aeneas recounts the story of the fall of Troy, he does so tearfully, because Troy was his
home. He does, however, and the picture that follows is famous: he carries his father Anchises on
his back, he holds his son Ascanius s hand, and Creusa, his wife, lags behind. Creusa is symbolic
of his romantic past as she is lost in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius
has the potential to mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure
sign of the Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family.
Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that Aeneas would
place his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even though Troy is gone, Aeneas in
part finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than
just religion, however. Piety was, after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according
to Beryl Rawson, Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children:
they owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with father
Anchises and son Ascanius.
There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to notice.
However, the most critical part is that Virgil places one above the other. With the negative fire
imagery of passionate romance, it can be inferred that Virgil thought it was

The Human Tendency Towards War Exemplified in William...
Thomas Hobbes once said, Hereby it is a manifest, that during the time man live without a common
power to keep them all in awe, they are in that condition which is called war . . . (Hobbes 64).
Thomas Hobbes, an enlightenment thinker, believes that humans are born evil, and without a good
leader, everything will turn into chaos. William Goldings Lord of the Flies rightly gives examples
on Hobbes viewpoint. Throughout the story, it shows the process in which the boys slowly loses
their civilized self and turn into savages, how the boys would do anything just for survival or just
purely entertainment. William Golding shows the innate evilness within humans by employing
religious allegoryas by using events, characters, and settings that... Show more content on

Furthermore, the characters in the story parallels to other characters in the Bible. When Ralph
starts condemning himself, Simon cheers him up by saying, You ll get back to where you came
from (Golding 111). According to the Bible, only Satan causes condemnation. By interrupting
Ralph and giving him hope, Golding illustrates Simon as Jesus because he saves Ralph from
being torn apart by Satan. The quote also suggests Simon knows something Ralph does not
know. It shows that Simon may have the ability to foresee future events. Later, when Simon
talks to the beast, or Lord of the Flies, it says, I m the reason why it s no go? Why things are
what they are? (Golding 143). The Lord of the Flies symbolizes Satan. In the New Testament,
after baptism, Satan temps Jesus with various things for forty days. Simon is the only person
that is able to speak to the beast on the island. His innate goodness helps him to be able to speak
to the Lord of the Flies without being afraid, which is something only Jesus can do. Throughout
the story, Simon displays various traits of Jesus such as being deeply spiritual, compassionated,
and non violent. The setting of the story are also related to stories in the Bible. The island is
described as The air was thick with butterflies, lifting, fluttering, settling (Golding 28). The image
described resembles to that of the paradise. Just like the Garden of Eden, the island has an ideal
weather, an abundance of fruits,

V For Vendetta Essay
Tarunpreet Singh Ms. Redd English 12 24 October,2017 Shenanigans of the government In the
world that we live in right now, anything is possible and that is for the good and the bad. Like
represented in the novel, 1984 by George Orwell, the party used technology to make a whole new
society that goes by the rules of the party, which just means that anything that the party does is
justifiable because they are the ones making the rules and anybody who doesn t obey them gets
vaporized . Another example of the government controlling the people and invading their rights for
the benefit of the government is the movie V for Vendetta directed by James McTeigue in 2006.
After reading 1984 and V for Vendetta , some might wonder if our... Show more content on

Another type of surveillance was that the part used children, With those children, he thought,
that wretched woman must lead a life of terror. Another year, two years, and they would be
watching her night and day for symptoms of unorthodoxy. Nearly all children nowadays were
horrible. What was worst of all was that by means of such organizations as the Spies they were
systematically turned into ungovernable little savages, and yet this produced in them no
tendency whatever to rebel against the discipline of the Party. On the contrary, they adored the
Party and everything connected with it (24,Orwell). This quote shows that the party used
children to spy on their parents and other individuals. The children have been brainwashed since
they were born, this is another tactic the party used to make sure that it stays in power because
if they can move the youth to their side, the whole nation will follow. We might not know it but
our government might just be looking through our electronics and keep an eye on us.
Technology is good for us but it has been exploited in so many different negative ways that it
would be better if we did not have electronics because we would still have our privacy. V for
Vendetta uses similar tactics as us and 1984 to keep a close eye on the people of the nation. In the
movie, they used cameras, telescreens, taped phones, fingermen, etc. as surveillance tools to

Adam Smith s Wealth of Nations
For Smith, the value of all commodities that the market is supposed to promote is not come from
the money price, but come from the amount of labor required to purchase them because nobody
wants to purchase a good that is created with less effort. Therefore, the real value that the market
needs to promote is the labor that is invested in the product. For example, in real life diamond or
gold is very expensive but people do not really need them because without them, people still alive.
On the other hand, water or food is not as expensive as diamond or gold, but they are very
necessary in real life because we cannot survive without water and foods. According to Smith, to
understand the difference from these prices, we can look at the amount of labor needed to bring
these products to market. The money price of a particular community may fluctuate from a variety
of reasons, but the amount of labor needed to purchase it remains constant.
To promote that value, we should improve the division of labor, which is the greatest improvement
in the productive power of labor. Division of labor is always has the important role in increasing
productivity exponentially of a company. For Smith, division of labor is very important even in
producing a very simple product because it creates specialized knowledge of a particular trade or
task that makes the employees get

  • 2. Rosh Hashanah Essay Rosh Hashanah Rosh Hashanah heads the year of Jewish festivals and traditions. Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and is usually celebrated for two days in September or October, depending on when it falls in the Hebrew calendar. Rosh Hashanah celebrates the creation of the world and is a time for reflection and self evaluation. It is celebrated on the first day of the seventh month (the month of Tishri). Rosh Hashanah is celebrated by Orthodox Jews everywhere and is one of the Jewish tradition s holiest days. Then a blessing is recited over the fruit. A pomegranate is said to has 613 seed. This number corresponds to the number of mitzvoth, or types of good deeds, that Jews as a society must perform. A pomegranate on the holiday table announces to the heavenly court that as many seeds as there are, that s how many good deeds have been performed over the year. Hallah bread is commonly served on Rosh Hashanah. A ladder, turban like shape, to the Hallah bread expresses the wish that the family s prayers might ascend to heaven. Dough baked in the shape of a bird also represents the same wish. It also stands for the words of the prophet Isaiah: As birds protect their young, so will God protect Jerusalem. Some time between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, it is customary to throw bread crumbs into a body of water as a symbolic act of repentance. Most Jews do tashlich the afternoon of the first day of Rosh Hashanah. Family and friends gather together at the waterfront to cast away the sins of the past year and resolve to be better in the year to come. Tashlich is a way to admit our own faults and symbolically shed the baggage if last year s mistakes. In the villages of Eastern Europe it was custom before the New Year for a messenger to ... The protests turned into massive ones around March of the same year and thousands of people took the streets of Syria in peaceful protests. Later in April 2011, the Syrian government has decided to send out the military to subdue the protests. Opposition groups began to arm themselves and fight back after this, and they were aided by the Syrian military members who joined them as well. The government was not happy about these protests and they responded with extreme measures such as torturing and killing protesters, kidnapping, and mistreatment. The government troops opened fire on civilians and the civilians fired back in response to this. The result of this was the Syrian army quickly turning this to an armed conflict. When people hear the word destruction they may think of their own personal experience of destruction or tragedy. That may range from a house being torn apart by a tornado to a loss of a family member or president being assassinated. The effects of destruction are tremendous and terrible. That could affect one to thousands of people at a time resulting in massively spread pain and suffering. In the painting Course of Empire Destruction, by Thomas Cole (1836), there is a mass tragedy being painted. The tragedy being painted is the Vandals attack on Rome in 455. The pain and devastation was captured in this painting perfectly, through many colors and symbols, which affected thousands of people in many different ways. Cole used many techniques to show the enemy warriors taking over the town. Cole s use of colorand symbols reflect the destruction of the town. The Development Of A Driverless Car Introduction With the advancement in technologies and researches, driverless vehicles, or autonomous car, would soon be more realistic and common replacement to our traditional cars. Several major companies and organization have been working on the development for this technology. In 1980, Mercedes Benz undertook the UREKA Prometheus project and built their first driverless car. Late in 2007, six autonomous vehicles successfully completed a 90 kilometer test course of simulated urban traffic (Hars, 2010). In the beginning of 2013, we had the autonomous car although it was in development stage. It could drive autonomously for hundreds of thousands of miles. These technologies started showing up in the market for consumer with some improvement to the system: Cruise control: It keeps the car in constant speed without applying gas by the driver. Anti lock brakes: This system has the ability to prevent the locking of brakes, when the driver fully applying for brakes. Stability and traction control: This system uses digital encoder. It uses different sensors to determine dangerous situations such as car skid or roll over, and tries to prevent it. It is able to monitor the car s direction speed, and contact pressure between the wheels and the road. The system also could apply brakes or adjust the pressure on each wheel when the car goes out of control. • 16. The American Public Education System There are many problems in the American public education system today. Some of those include the quality of teachers, who have no real passion for the job, and are only allowed to remain in the position because of tenure privileges. Another issue is the state budgets that are allowed for public schools, with some states investing billions of dollars, and others prioritizing it lower on the list. In hot debate today is standardized testing, and the negative effect that it has on high schooleducation, with the limits it places on teachers and what they have time to teach in the classrooms. One of the biggest problems in the American public education system is the lack of a common standard for what students should be learning, and when they should learn it. In other words, the inequality of curriculums across the nation is affecting the preparedness of students when they venture out beyond the public school system, for the worst. The way to fix this problem, according to many teachers, administrators, and politicians, is by implementing a common curriculum across the nation that will ensure that the quality of a student s education is not determined by where they happen to live. The Common Core State Standard curriculum is the solution to the unequal education problem in public schools. • 17. Analysis Of Tick Tock By Brian Eno Tick Tock is an ambient piece of music that was made as a direct influence of Brian Eno s four part ambient series of albums. 2/1 in particularly from Music for Airports is a reference for the aesthetics of the sound design in the song which has a lot of darkened textures and is almost lullaby esque in nature. A lot of randomness is often found within the ambient genre as a piece is meant to demonstrate an ever evolving state. This is hard to express in a one minute piece however, so a constant tempo was decided upon for the piece. To introduce some kind of randomness into it, the vocal part begins playing on different beats through out the evolution of the music. Minimalist music had a massive influence of Eno s music and I also wanted to take the aesthetics of that genre and try to apply it into my music. As a result of this, only using the three selected sounds allowed me to avoid overcrowding the piece which isn t meant to be imposing in nature i.e. background music. The sound is derived from a vocal part saying tick tock and heavily laden with a clear long hall reverb to give a huge depth to the voice. A slight delay on the voice is introduced halfway through the piece to represent the ever evolving state in ambient music. The piano sound is a grand piano mixed with a long hall reverb with a soft attack and medium long release to produce a dream like characteristic as well as provide a deeper spacial texture to the soundscape. The third sound was a string sound that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Low power has emerged as a principal theme in today s electronics industry. The low power VLSI design has important role in designing of many electronic design systems. On designing any combinational or sequential circuits, the power consumption, implementation area, voltage leakage, and efficiency of the circuit are the important parameters to be considered initially. This paper proposes a low power and area efficient shift register using pulsed latches. The area and power consumption are reduced by replacing flip flops with pulsed latches. This method solves the timing problem between pulsed latches through the use of multiple non overlap delayed pulsed clock signals instead of the conventional single pulsed clock signal. This connection is how Jenner created the first smallpox vaccine using cowpox because it provided immunity for smallpox. This was a revolutionary event in history, vaccines have been developed for diseases like chicken pox, shingles, polio, influenza, and many others. Although there is no vaccine for the Zika virus, because of Jenner s findings, it is quite possible that there could be a vaccine for Zika Virus in the future. The Industrial Revolution time period was not only at time for new technologies and factories, but it was a key time for breakthroughs in medicine. Before the Industrial Revolution, many scientists thought that some diseases randomly grew out of non living objects, miasmas or fogs, in the air. In the mid 1800s, a chemist by the name of Louis Pasteur proved this wrong and he showed that diseases were actually caused by microscopic organisms in the environment. This discovery was revolutionary; now doctors were able to begin finding prevention methods or cures for diseases. There is so much that happens in the world today that we can trace back to Pasteur s discovery. Without his findings, there would be no way to protect from treatable diseases. Because of Pasteur s discovery, more research will be able to be done about Zika virus because it is failure unfamiliar to most people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. The Interplay Between Human Laws And Divine Law In... Sophocles Antigone focuses on the interplay between human laws and divine laws. Although the divines do not directly appear in the play, their rules strongly affect characters behaviors. Although the actions of the characters as well as the conclusion of the play demonstrate deities superior status to humans, the divine is unable to assume certain roles in the humanworld. The play s first stasimon, also known as the Ode to Man , is one of the most obvious clues that the divine is superior to humans. The stasimon describes the wondrous power of human beings while stresses that only if we honor the laws and the oath bound justice of the gods (370), can we be successful. In the case of human refusing to respect the gods, our special status would fall. The play starts with Antigone, late king Oedipuss daughter, agonizing to her sister Ismene over the death of her brothers Polynices and Eteocles, who die over a bloody conflict over Oedipus succession. In her agony, Antigone describes the bloody civil war as the final penalty to Zeus for Oedipus (3). Zeus, according to Antigone, is the master behind Oedipus s downfall and the plague against her family. Since Eteocles was the ruler of the city, and Polynices rebelled, Creon, the new king, decrees that no one shall bury Polynices. Creon justifies his decisions based on the chorus s statement that chance and the gods make him king (157) as well as the consideration that the decision would bring stability. Creon also claims that as long as he remains reverent to Zeus (304), his words will carry absolute authority. Loving her brother, Antigone, however, decides to go against Creon s decree and bury her brother. She calls not burying Polynices an insult to what the gods believe everyone deserves a proper burial. Soon, a watchman captures Antigone and brings her in front of Creon for questioning (432 440). Antigone justifies her argument against Creon s decree by arguing that Polynices deserves a proper burial like anyone else does since it was the intention of Hades, the god of the underworld. She believes Creon, a human being, cannot make laws with enough power to trample the gods unfailing, unwritten laws (456 457). Antigone s argument leaves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. The Effects Of Reading Fluency On Reading Comprehension Essay Introduction Numerous experts have specified that a deficiency of reading fluency seems to be the area of extreme impairment in reading. According to Huemer and Mann (2009), children with ASD have been reported to show a disassociation between decoding and comprehension . Children with ASD usually have a higher leverl of reading compared to their reading comprehension. Overall, the evidence suggests that children with ASD have low levels of reading accuracy, which implicates weak decoding skills as being one of the factors in reading comprehension deficits in ASD (Huemer and Mann). National Reading Panel define fluency as reading text with speed, accuracy, and proper expression. (2000, p. 3 1). Reading Fluency has three interdependent distinct elements which are accuracy, rate, and prosody. Several decades of scientific research by National Institute of Child Health and Human Development [NICHD], clearly shows effective reading instruction addresses five critical areas: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. Research points out that Reading Fluency helps build a bridge between basic word decoding and comprehension. The baseline project will focus on Fluency. Fluency is identified by the words in a text rapidly and accurately and using phrasing and emphasis in a way that makes what is read sound like spoken language (NICHD report of 2000). Computer Security And Information Assurance The academic disciplines of computer security and information assurance emerged along with numerous professional organizations all sharing the common goals of ensuring the security and reliability of information systems. ROT5 is a practice similar to ROT13 that applies to numeric digits (0 to 9). ROT13 and ROT5 can be used together in the same message. ROT47 is a derivative of ROT13 which, in addition to scrambling the basic letters, also treats numbers and common symbols. Instead of using the sequence A Z as the alphabet, ROT47 uses a larger set of characters from the common character encoding known as ASCII. Specifically, the 7 bit printable characters, excluding space from decimal 33 ! through 126 ~ , 94 in total, taken in the order of the numerical values of their ASCII codes, are rotated by 47 positions, without special consideration to case. For example, the character A is mapped to p, while a is mapped to 2. The use of a larger alphabet produces an obfuscation than that of ROT13; for example, a telephone number such as +1(positive) (negative)415 (negative)839 (negative)6885 is not obvious at first sight from the scrambled result Z`c`dgbheggd. On the other hand, because ROT47 introduces numbers and symbols into the mix without discrimination, it is more immediately obvious that the text has been enciphered. • 40. Epic Theatre By Bertolt Brecht Bertolt Brecht was the pioneer of a new style of theatre, epic theatre. Epic theatre differentiates itself from Bertolt s previous influences by presenting a series of loosely connected scenes that avoid illusion and often interrupt the story line to address the audience directly with analysis, argument, or documentation. He sought to remind the spectator that the play is an illustration of the playwright s point of view rather than a slice from reality. This made audiences react with curiousity and participate in a dialogical argument criticising their own life and what they could do to change it rather than an emotional and empathic response that accepts events in the play as a slice of reality, accepted as the norm. He wanted his audiences to adopt a critical perspective in order to recognise social injustice and to go forth and transform the reality. Bertolt utilised specific techniques to intentionally disillusion the audience throughout the play. One of the main techniques that Bertolt utilised was exposing the construction and mechanisms of theatre to the audience. By emphasizing the spectator s awareness of the methods of its production, his shows aimed to expose the contradictions between the characters ideology and purpose. Such techniques included flooding the stage with harsh white light, regardless of where the action was taking place, and leaving the stage lamps in full view of the audience; making use of minimal props and indicative scenery; intentionally ... Creusa is symbolic of his romantic past as she is lost in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius has the potential to mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure sign of the Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family. Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that Aeneas would place his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even though Troy is gone, Aeneas in part finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than just religion, however. Piety was, after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according to Beryl Rawson, Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children: they owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with father Anchises and son Ascanius. There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to notice.
