Essay On Skills
Crafting an essay on the broad and multifaceted subject of "Skills" presents a unique set of
challenges. The inherent difficulty lies in the vast scope of the topic, as skills encompass a wide
array of abilities and competencies across different domains. Pinning down a precise focus
becomes a daunting task, as one must navigate through the intricate web of soft skills, hard skills,
interpersonal skills, technical skills, and more.
Moreover, the challenge extends beyond mere categorization. Delving into the depth of each
skill type requires a nuanced understanding and the ability to weave a cohesive narrative that
elucidates the significance and interplay of various skills. The challenge is not only in providing a
comprehensive overview but also in delving into the practical applications and the evolving
nature of skills in today's dynamic world.
Another layer of complexity emerges when considering the diversity of perspectives on what
constitutes a valuable skill. The subjective nature of skill evaluation further complicates the task,
demanding a balanced approach that considers different cultural, societal, and professional
contexts. Additionally, addressing the ever-changing landscape of skills in the context of
technological advancements and societal shifts adds a layer of intricacy to the essay.
Structuring the essay poses another hurdle. Balancing the depth of analysis with clarity and
conciseness is crucial. Finding the right equilibrium between theoretical discussions and practical
examples is a delicate task that requires careful consideration. A coherent flow of ideas and
seamless transitions become imperative to ensure that the essay is not only informative but also
engaging for the reader.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of "Skills" demands an adept handling of
complexity, a nuanced understanding of diverse skill sets, and the ability to navigate through the
dynamic nature of the subject. It is a task that requires both analytical prowess and effective
communication skills to deliver a piece that is not only insightful but also accessible to a wide
audience.

Nectar Aquatic Research Paper
Flowers are thousands of different varieties and not many people ever wonder what
makes the flowers more exquisite or what process relation the flower has with the
pollinator. In the Southern region of Texas there s nothing but cactus; sometimes on
the cactus you can see some pink, red, orange, and yellow blooming on the cactus!
First time people see that, it s a little shocking because how would an organism feed
off it, when there are thorns connected to the cactus. Lucky for the cactus there are
many different organisms who are attracted to them due to the complementary colors
and them pollinating for the Prickly Pear cactus but there is a special one, the south
texas hummingbird. When going outside the most colors you see in plants... Show

In order for the attraction of color to happen they will usually have solid colors or a
pattern with ultraviolet shades, because the hummingbirds can see a greater color
spectrum compared to humans. The most popular hummingbird flowers often have a
funnel like shape that helps nectar being consumed. Thin flower tubes can be ruined
by some insects and animals because they don t have the long hummingbirds bill or
how thin it is. Everyone would think any organisms would be attracted to flowers
that have a strong scent, but hummingbirds aren t attracted to strong scents. The
hummingbirds are attracted to flowers with a light scent and not a very strong odor
because it attracts too many insects and other organisms. The bird loves if the
position of the flower is more out and the wings aren t grazing against the needles of
the cactus. The birds also take advantage of the blooming time because in the
morning the plants open up more and a much longer blooming season. The bird also

I Am My Top Priority Essay
My top priority is to further develop empathy immediately upon returning. My lack of
empathy is evident through each module and the Johari Window whether it is
intellectual empathy, recognition of others, or in being emotionally present. Each
negatively affects professional relationships, closes my mind to others perspectives,
and truly limits my effectiveness. Thus, I will meet with the Deliberate Development
(DD) consultant, a PhD level coach, twice a month and accomplish training with her
beginning with empathetic listening. Although this will be a long term process, I will
know I m meeting my goalthrough 90 day and 180 day feedback sessions with my
commander and peers. I will attain this goal, and a coach possesses the skills and
tools to assist me.
Second, I need to clean my own house. Based on the Johari s Window, I have a few
personal struggles I need to address through counseling. These directly impact my
leadership as I tend to over compensate for each which negatively affects my Worry
Over Image and Drive for Success . Simply, leaders need clean wells to drink from.
I will schedule an appointment through Mental Health to determine and work on
the root cause for these immediately upon my return and attend needed follow up
appointments. This is an attainable goal and is relevant and realistic. A measure
and timeline on this are difficult, but I will be able to gauge progress in the same 90
day and 180 day feedbacks as addressing this will support my
Hippocrates On The Sacred Disease Summary
The passage On the Sacred Disease, is an examination into the alleged sacred
disease of epilepsy. Although many of the anatomic and bodily propositions were
incorrect, Hippocrates concepts were closer to the diagnostics and teachings of today
than those of metaphysical reasoning. For these reasons, On the Sacred Disease
provided a structural understanding of diseases in our bodies today. Hippocratesmain
concepts are derived from the fact that this disease originates from a natural cause.
He states , Men regard its nature and cause as divine from ignorance and
wonder...this notion of divinity is kept up by their inability to comprehend it (33
35). It was this sacred disease of epilepsy that people used to connect with divine
interference. Divine stimulation was never in form of a sickness or disease. These
people were under the idea that sickness was not a sole presence, but rather an
ailment that affects the human body and is sent by divinities. Therefore people did
little to treat the affected, but rather tried to appease the so called divine powers that
sent the disease. In fact, the epileptic attacks were often referred to different gods
depending on the symptoms such as Poseidon, Ares, Apollo, and Hecate.... Show

He states, the body is made to feel and undergo changes in the changes of the winds
(326 327), it was conventional that there were just four elements, earth, air, fire, and
water with their related traits, coldness, dryness, heat, and wetness. If these elements
were present in the human body in balanced amounts, health was maintained, if not

idea that health was maintained by an equal rule of the bodily elements rather than

A Short Note On The Funding II, Inc.
Viento Funding II, Inc. ( Viento or the Borrower ) owns controlling interest in a
portfolio of three operating wind power generating plants (the Projects ) located in
Nebraska, New Mexico, and Texas. The Projects have an aggregate net capacity of
361 MW and achieved COD between December 2005 and April 2009. The Projects
are fully contracted under three Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). Each of the
PPAs has a 20 year term with the earliest expiring in December 2025. The energy off
takers are Southwestern Public Service Company ( SPSC ) (A /Baa1/BBB; SFS
Equivalent 4+) and Nebraska Public Power District ( NPPD ) (A+/A1/A; SFS
Equivalent 3+).
In 2013, the Borrower refinanced its existing Senior Secured Credit Facilities (the
Term Loan ). The Term Loan is structured to a 15 year amortization schedule, on a
semi annual basis, to a balloon of approximately $74 million at maturity. The Term
Loan is sized to provide a minimum DSCR of 1.40x under P50 wind resource and a
minimum DSCR of 1.0x under P95 wind resource. The SFS EF AM share of the
Term Loan was $50.0 million with the current exposure (at the end of March 2016)
of $42.2 million.
The 2015 operating performance was adversely affected by the main transformer
failure at San Juan Mesa wind farm ( San Juan ) (120 MW or about 33% of the total
capacity) resulting in the complete shutdown of the wind farm for two months.
Shutdown of the San Juan wind farm resulted in about 22% decline in the revenues

Cultural Influence Of The Meiji Era On Japanese Food
Culture
In producing an anthropological account of my chosen meal event, which is my
experience of dining at the Meiji restaurant in Osaka, I will use a mixed theoretical
approach which is influenced by Mintz s (1985) Sweetness and Power to show
how material conditions and symbolic representations of food are interrelated.
Firstly, I will look at the historical influence of the Meiji Era on Japanese food
culture (Anderson 2005; Hiroko 2008). I will then look at gender in Japanese food
culture, specifically how masculinity is associated with fish markets and sushi
preparation, and how these culturally engrained gender roles correlate with my
observations and experience at the restaurant (Corson 2009; Bestor 2004; Holden
2005). Finally I will discuss the biocultural complexity of food preferences,
followed by an analysis of how food is related to identity formation and highly
symbolic, and whether this symbolic meaning presupposes food preferences
created by materialist conditions (Fischler 1988; Rappoport 2003; Harris 1985;
Levi Strauss 1963). The most memorable meal event I have experienced occurred
over a two week period at a restaurant in Osaka called Meiji . In early 2012 my
partner and I visited Osaka for just over two weeks, choosing our vacation destination
based on mutual appreciation for Japanese cuisineand onsen , Japanese bath. On our
third night in Osaka we were wandering down one of the many brightly lit alleyways,
which were bustling with energy and movement at
Netflix Code Of Ethics Essay
The company that I chose to write about is Netflix, Inc. They are an online
streaming service giant and DVD rental provider. Started up in 1997 by two
engineers Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph. Netflix has grown to be known as one
of the most prominent video entertainment providers worldwide. Their library carries
a large selection of television shows, movies, and original content as well. They are
currently ranked 379 on the Fortune 500 list.
Netflix started as a DVD rental service, and would later offer flat rate movie rental
by mail subscriptions to customers in the United States. The concept was to use an
online subscription service to pick a DVD of your choosing with no late fees,
returning the DVD at your leisure when you wanted to exchange it for another DVD.
It wasn t until 2007 that the company would begin to offer online streaming services.
Starting first with its online website Netflix would expand into home entertainment
system Blu ray players and gaming consoles. Now, the streaming service is at your
fingertips with a tap of your finger using apps on personal tablets and mobile phones.
Netflix is currently headquartered in Los Gatos, California. It is a public company

William Faulkner s `` A Rose For Emily ``
While authors like Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King are known for their creepy
writings, William Faulkner has achieved a level of disturbing that is hardly reached
in short stories. A Rose for Emily is a story that shows how the insanity of one
woman is able to shock an entire town, even in death.
When first reading A Rose for Emily, anyone can see how twisted Emily Grierson
is. Not only for the fact that she was sleeping in the same bed as a corpse, but
because this was not the first time that she had kept a dead body in her house. While
her family does have a history of mental instability, stating that, remembering old lady
Wyatt, her great aunt, had gone completely crazy at last (section II), she is able to
out do the impossible and create an aura of mystery that surrounds her both during
life and death. After reading this story, it makes the audience question not only the
reasoning that Emily has behind not only killing Homer, but keeping his body
trapped in her house up until she met death as well. It also brings to attention how
much the townsfolk actually influenced the progression of insanity that caused Emily
and those around her, so much turmoil. For example, if the townsfolk had not used
Emily as a source of entertainment and gossip, would she have stayed the recluse?
While, the townsfolk are not to blame, it makes readers wonder: what if? Another
question that I had while reading this story is, who was the narrator? The narrator,
whoever they are, is able to
Analysis Of John Sloan s Three Am Essay
The artwork I chose to view through a gendered perspective was John Sloan s Three
AM. Three A.M. was made in 1909 and is an oil painting on canvas. John Sloan
describes the painting as a look at a curious two room household ( Philadelphia
Museum of Art Collections Object: Three A.M. ). I chose this painting because it
reminded me of times I have shared with my best friend. The scene reminded me
of the countless nights I have spent with my best friend in the kitchen baking
cookies and gossiping. When I went to the museum, I was with my best friend and
the first thing that came to mind when we saw this was, This looks like us in my
kitchen like two weekends ago. It made me think, if someone had just captured a
small moment of us and painted it, it would look very similar to us. Sloan
characterized himself as a sort of window watcher (Coco 1), which is evident in the
way he painted the two women. He painted the room in a binocular view (Coco 1)
that looks like it was painted while watching these people from a window. This
painting has many gendered aspects, some of which are stereotypes. My gender, as
well as the artist s gender, influence the understanding of the work of art.
Knowing the sex of the artist introduces the preconceived notion of how the artist
may view the opposite sex. In this painting, because I know the artist is a male when
viewing the subjects of the painting I understand why they are painted in the way
they are. His gender influences my
The Challenges Of King Jamestown
Jamestown faced many challenges along the way and even from the start. Spain had
taken control of the seas and the new world. England knew they needed a chunk of
this new world. To accomplish this objective, King James I sent Bartholomew
Gosnold to establish the Virginia company and to colonize new land in North
America. When the 3 ships arrived off the coast of Virginia, a terrible storm made the
sailors lost in the Chesapeake bay. This lead them to find the a peninsula on the
James river where they decided to build their settlement Jamestown.
When the colonists arrived they assumed the Natives would be friendly. They
wouldn t carry their muskets around and weren t prepared so they ended up getting
attacked and killed by the Natives. At
The Causes Of The Egyptian Revolution Of 1953
The Egyptian Revolution of 1952, also known as the July 23rd revolution took
place in Egypt from July 22 26th. After the Arab Israeli war in 1948 the Egyptian
army blamed their failure in losing the war on King Farouk. The lieutenant Colonel
Gamal Abdel Nasser decided to form a group called the Free officers movement.
This group consisted of army members who wanted to abolish the monarchy that was
linked to the British Empire and replace it with a republic. On July 23rd, 1949 the
Free officers movement led by Muhammad Naguiband Nasser, overthrew King
Farouk. King Farouk sailed into exile on his yacht on July 26 1952.
Egypt was finally named a republic on June 18th, 1953 and Nasser became Egypt s
first ever president and a commander and chief. He also gained a lot of respect from
the people in Egypt. Nasser made a new constitution and changed up the government,
so that the president had to the right to dismiss ministers. Nasser was also elected as
second president and he also formed the National Union, this paved the way for the
first parliament in Egypt which was in 1952.
According to (Hornton) Egypt has passed through a critical period in her recent
history characterized by bribery, mischief, and the absence of governmental stability.
All of these were factors that had a large influence on the army. Mischief and
absence of government stability was because of King Farouk and his lack of actually
governing the country. King Farouk was very ignorant and corrupt
Support For Removing The Bereavement Exclusion
Controversies Support for removing the bereavement exclusion Koukopoulos and
Sani (2013) found that in ancient times the core of depression with mixed features
consisted of the following excitatory symptoms: agitation, anxiety, anger, racing and
crowded thoughts, irritability, and rage. The DSM 5 criterion for mixed features
mentions only two of the seven symptoms (Koukopoulos Sani, 2013). In more
recent literature as referenced by the DSM 5 mood disorders work group, it was
found that some of the authors did not find any of the proposed DSM 5 symptoms
for depressionwith mixed features diagnostically relevant. The first two diagnostic
criteria proposed by the DSM 5 are euphoria and grandiosity, which were found to
be too rare to be considered important because they are so infrequently occurring in
a small amount of depressive patients (Koukopoulos Sani, 2013). Additionally, there
was weak evidence to support the DSM 5 definition of mixed features for
depression historically and scientifically. Overlapping criteria such as psychomotor
agitation, irritability, and mood liability are found to be the core features of mixed
depression. Due to this criterion, it is possible that many patients with mixed
depression will most likely be diagnosed and treated inadequately. Instead, the
evidence found supports the clinical validity for an alternative definition for agitated
depression and mixed depression (Koukopoulos Sani, 2013). According to Zisook et
al (2013),

The 1980 s Derg Revolution In Ethiopia
The 1980 s Derg revolution in Ethiopia is truly the beginning of my story. In the
1980 s, the violent rule of the Derg led both my parents to flee to Sudan where they
eventually met. After years of applications to foreign countries, my parents gained
visas to America as refugees in 1989 and moved around until settling in Florida in
1993. Their move to the Americas allowed me to gain access to the American
education system and eventually to American colleges. When I was approximately
7 years old one of my uncle to whom I was particularly close began to have seizures
and was diagnosed with brain clot for which he underwent surgery. My familyand I

that people lived in outside of developed countries. My determination to help people
stems to an extent from this event in my life because I ve had the privilege to witness
the unfortunate circumstances that people often experience when others are not
paying attention or simply do not care. After my trip to Africa, my parents announced
that they were purchasing a gas station. I witnessed my parent work hard to sustain
our advantaged lifestyle, and I worked alongside them learning all of the skills and
effort that it took to make one s business successful. I began to appreciate the
amount of effort my parents put in towards achieving the lifestyle that we lived. For
about 3 years, I attended a local private Christian school until I eventually transferred
to a private Catholic school to complete my middle school education. The school s
inability to educate their students left me approximately a year behind in my classes.
It is this single event that I can definitively say changed my educational
Advantages Of Retention Strategies
Gone is the age when people sought permanence in every vital facet of life, be it
relationships or jobs. With the advent of modern era, there has been a tangible shift
from securing permanent things to ascertaining better things. It is a typical human
behaviour to have an insatiable hunger for development and betterment. This
penchant can be evidently contemplated in the corporate employees, since the
corporate world is swamped with a surfeit of jobs and there are ample chances for
employees to move from one job to another. In such transient job environment,
companies need to prepare themselves well in advance to efficiently and
professionally handle the exit of employees.

The Anglo-Saxon Generation
Imagine fifty years or more from now, when the modern American civilization would
cease to exist. What would that generation think of this generation? What would be
left for them to examine and infer about this generation? Artifacts and burial sites
are one of the many treasures of the past that archaeologists use to help them figure
out what the past generation was like. What if all they saw were very violent
movies? Would they think that this generation was one that was ruled by violence?

they valued gold and wealth, getting inexhaustible amount of gold and other
extravagant objects that the kings might have given them were a big deal. Overall,
the Anglo Saxon s had many values within their culture that without most of them,
the society and its artifacts might not have lasted for so long. The artifacts and poems
that they have left behind for the generations that have formed after them could see
what kind of civilization they were. According to the remnants, they mostly valued
loyalty, strength, and wealth. Those are the morals and ethics that kept the society

According to the leading business representative Nedlac was intended to inaugurate
a new era of inclusive consensus seeking and ultimately decision making in the
economic and social arenas (Parsons 2007, 9). Nedlac failed. The first obstacle was
the fact that peak level business organisation was racially divided which made
national coordination impossible. BSA turned into BUSA and from it emerged BBC.
The second blunder came from government when they only referred some economic
policies to Nedlac. The post apartheid Labour relations act was negotiated in Nedlac

Introduction:
Project management is about planning and execution starting in view of the end. A
great arrangement contains objectives utilizing measurements, with ideal asset use
and reasonable calendar gauges. When a manager and his crew plan the results of
that process typically do not only concentrate on the problems that cause productivity

Evaluation Of The Gym Program
Case 1
1.We used operation time to calculate the utilization of various facilities. Calculation
is as below.
After analysing the calculated result, we found out that cardio equipment is over
booked during peak hours in 2000 as per the five year growth trend, the gym
membership is going to grow in future years. So in order to accommodate the future
members the gym has to increase the capacity of the cardio equipment s with
40%cushion capacity and the rest of the facilities which are nearing the 30% cushion
rate should be next in line for capacity upgrading.
2. Expansionist strategy would be appropriate for the Fitness Plus gym. Since the
gym is expecting new enrolment in January and that is also the peak period of the
year. And according to the case if they need to increase the capacity that would take 4
month time for renovation. So in order to accommodate the new enrollment and the
current member gym they need to increase the capacity of some of the facilities as
per the cushion.
For the long time strategy the gym should adopt wait and see as it has to evaluate the
effect of competition on their customer base.
If it was not affecting, they should adopt continuous expansion strategy
If it is affecting, they should stick with Wait and see strategy. 3. Capacity decision
made were based on the capacity utilisation of the facilities provided by the gym.
Since the gym financial stand point is not strong; only the over utilised facilities are
planned for expansion.
A Comparison Of Count Dracula And Edward Cullen

these creatures have become an iconic symbol of mystifying horror and inexplicable
desire. Recently, the vampire has undergone a significant reconstruction of physical
appearance, behaviour, and surroundings, along with, extensive modifications to its
super natural disadvantages. These distinct character adaptations are imperative when

Dracula, and Stephenie Meyer s 21st century, Edward Cullen, is a complex reflection
of the contrasting societies from which these vampires emerged.
The acute variation between the presented images of Dracula and Edward mirror the
different perspectives, held by the cultures that birthed them, on the importance of
physical appearance. For example, Dracula s facial description is very strong, with a
thin nose, a lofty domed forehead, and enormous eyebrows, almost meeting over the
nose (Stoker 25 26). Attributes such as these are not standard descriptors of an
overwhelmingly enticing appearance, but rather, detail an elderly or distinguished
gentleman. Contrastingly, the depiction of Edward s facial features is outwardly
alluring, with descriptions such as, flawless (Meyer 162) and devastatingly,
inhumanly beautiful

C. S. Lewis Wormwood Analysis
While most people know the man C. S. Lewis as the author of the Narnia series, an
uncommon fact remains that he enjoyed reading and writing poetry. Although
Lewis s skills as a poet were not as fine tuned as his narrative and fiction, he
managed to create very thought provoking works with style and creativity. One of
these great pieces, he titled Wormwood; this poem likely was named after one of the
demons originating from one of his earlier books the Screwtape letters. This poem
focuses on the spiritual world and similar to Screwtape letters shows the impending
darkness in the world around us. The poem utilized alternate rhyme meaning every
two lines rhyme; however, this specific rhyme would not necessarily be repeated
later. This poem begins with the lines Thou only art alternative to God, oh, dark and
burning island among spirits. This introduction shows that although there exists an
alternative to God, this option remains darkness and fire among evil spirits. Mr.
Lewis then writes the names of three spirits who he thought would encourage the
reader to avoid the darkness. Firstly he writes of Wormwood; this character, from
earlier books, is constantly under the instruction of others more experienced demons

All that seemed earth is hell, or heaven. God is: thou art: The rest illusion. From this
section readers see that they should live for God or they will end up living for
nothing. Next C. S. Lewis says people should let the light of the Father show
through them, proclaiming what God does for his saved. Oppositely he shows that
those who reject their creator will see and endure the strength of fire. Venus, the
goddess of earthly love and beauty, is used to show even the people who externally

Persuasive Essay On Blue Whales
What would the ocean be like without whales? One thing that is never thought about
when whales are being hunted is how important they are. For humans to understand
the purpose of the whale and just going off the information one has learned may be
different. Understanding the whale may be more complex than thought out to be.
There is more to know about whales other than they can be big intimidating creatures.
It is important to make sure whales are being protected. When an individual enters in
a different environment they do not think about the potential danger that could be
caused. Because whales are important to the food chain and also the marine life
ecosystem, individuals should consider saving the whales. Whales are sentinels of the

Whales, such as killer whales, are unfairly stereotyped as dangerous or terrifying
animals. From 1999 2010 marine mammals accounted for fifteen deaths, two of the
deaths were by a single killer whale in captivity where conditions are not the greatest
for whales (Rose). Although there is information on marine mammal related deaths
there is no specific data on whale related deaths, meaning that the deaths could have
come from another species. Whales play an important role in the flow of aquatic
ecosystems. Blue Whales consume about forty trillion krill per day on average. By
consuming that krill they are doing their part of stabilizing the oceanic ecosystem.
Scientists are also learning more about whales and getting better understandings of
their species, the cetacean. By performing biological studies and many observations
scientists are able to learn about whale communication, intelligence, as well as
environmental impacts. When scientists better understand whales they can find even
more reasons as to protect whales and the importance of them from an environmental
standpoint. Whales should be understood more and treated more fairly than they have
been, they are an important part of the marine

The success of Airbnb certainly is a result of the innovation of travel agency. The
company concerned the gap between consumer s desired state and actual state then
provided them a platform to engage with. It is significantly different with the
traditional linear model. Certainly, there is no market strategy can serve all
customers. For property owners, Airbnb enables them to earn extra money by listing
their extra rooms and house online with a savvy price. It also helps them to build
connection globally. Likewise, Airbnb also creates great value for those travellers,
and it satisfies their different demands with a considerable fair price. It also assists
them to build a connection with the local community quickly, which provides them
with an opportunity to experience the unique local culture and satisfy their
psychological need that can enrich their travel experience.

The And The Criminal Justice System
While the use of remand custody was implemented to avoid potential casualties to
both the community and offenders, the dramatic increase of its use caught the
attention of many scholars. They argue that while the practice has its advantages, it
also has crippling drawbacks such as overpopulation in prisons and the undermining
the presumption of innocence; the main principle which defines the criminal justice
system. Individuals charged with an alleged offense are remanded into custody
through the issuance of a warrant of committal by a JP or judge (Griffiths, 2015, pp.
179) and are continued to be held in prisonfor an indefinite time until they are
needed to appear for court. The reason for custody may be issued out of concern that
accused individuals may not attend court, possibly reoffend before their trial date, or
were not granted bail. Remand custody is enforced to ensure offenders availability for
court appearance to uphold the integrity of the justice system. Implementing remand
custody allows for the safety of witnesses, who can testify without having their words
be manipulated under the fear and harassment from offenders. Consideration of bail
and outcomes to remand are merged; they have the same factors that determine
whether as to whether offenders should be detained and whether they would be
granted bail or not. Authorities may deny bail or decide to place offenders into
custodial remand if they are deemed to be untrustworthy. If released, offenders may

The Kings Three Faces Chapter Summary
Written by Brendan McConville, The Kings Three Faces: The Rise Fall of Royal
America is a masterful study of the colonial American approach toward monarchy,
and the way this attitude was in political cultures just before the revolution. Just like
other scholars who rush to promote their work, Brendan exaggerates his claim leading
him to provide a counter thesis on the historiographical convention.
Brendan examines the privileges of the Royals in the provincial politics and cultures
during the revolution in the years 1688 to 1689 and after that the revolution of
America in 1775. During that time, the colonist fully backed the succession of
Hanoverian and expanded the British Empire. According to McConville, what

This alliance continued for long until it was almost time for the fight for
independence. The breakthrough that was pulled by King George III. By reading the
books on American history, from the seventeenth century and not from the revolution.
Brendan showed that the political conflicts had been assumed to foreshadow the
events of the year 1776, which were fought by parties that raised the competing
views of the king and the royal rites and not by using the rights of the Republicans.
Therefore, McConville s book the Kings Three Faces provide a high counter thesis of
the American history (McConville 250).
In conclusion, McConville wrote this book because he wanted people to
understand how life was before the colony and after. He wanted people to have the
view of how the royals were very ordinary people and how they had a strong
affection for the monarch. He wanted people not to forget what American Revolution
was all about and to see the thirteen colonies for what they are. It is important to
study the colonies so that people can understand the revolution of America and learn

The hippie culture was originally a youth movement that started in the United States

Life Of Pi Movie And Book Comparison Essay
The main characters in the story Life of Pi are a boy named Piscine Molitor Patel
also known as Pi, a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, and a boat. The story is
about a young man who survived a shipwreck of the Tsimtsum but, lost his family.
He was put into a lifeboat with a zebra, a hyena, a Bengal tiger, and an orangutan.
He makes it alive off the boat with the Bengal tiger, both however severely ill in
two hundred and twenty seven days. Pi made it to a hospital and was interviewed
by two Japanese men who were wondering how the Tsimtsum sunk. The three main
similarities between the book and the movie are that all the animals still represent
the same people, in both the movie and the book Pi s father fed the goat to the

The Importance Of Religion In American History
The new insights I gained so far from this course is that Jon Butler begins by
describing the state of religious affairs in both the Old and New Worlds on the eve of
colonization. He traces the progress of religion in the colonies through the time of the
American Revolution, covering all the religious groups, Protestants, Jews, and
Catholics, as well as the unique religious experiences of Native Americans and
African Americans. On the other hands, Wacker continues his story with a fascinating
look at the ever shifting religious landscape of 19th century America. He focuses
mainly on the rapid growth of evangelical Protestants which includes Methodists,
Presbyterians, Baptists, and others which they were continued to increase with large

I also learn about the significance of religious thought and religious diversity in
shaping American history from the fifteenth century to the present day. Furthermore,
I learn the significant of the Declaration of Independence is full of religious language,
and the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion as a fundamental national right.
Soldiers and politicians on both sides of the Civil War relied on their religious beliefs
to make sense of the war and their positions in it. Americans invoked religious
arguments to defend and denounce slavery in the nineteenth century, and they have
used religious arguments on both sides of civil rights battles in the twentieth and
twenty first centuries. This is the history which includes many personalities who
plays part in the history and the Christianity establishment in American history and
its structures. I learn how the historians tell the stories to fit in the particular situation

Fraud As A Civil Wrong
Fraud is unfortunately a subject that many companies and even people have
problems controlling. Fraud is defined as deliberate deception to secure unfair or
unlawful gain. It is said that fraud is both a civil wrong where a fraud victim may
sue the fraud perpetrator to avoid the fraud or recover monetary compensation and a
criminal wrong where a fraudperpetrator may be prosecuted and imprisoned by
government authorities. There are many purposes of fraud that may include
monetary gain or other benefits. As a civil wrong in common law jurisdictions,
fraud is referred to as a tort. It is stated that while the precise definitions and

action for breach of contract or specific performance of control. As a criminal

most general form of criminal fraud, theft by false pretense, are the intentional
deception of a victim by false representation or pretense with the intent of persuading
the victim to part with properly and with the victim parting with property in

Several different types of fighting were used in WWII, battleships, tanks, and
legions of soldiers, but the most useful, and perhaps the most deadly of all was
flying a military aircraft. Aircrafts were powerful tools in the war, yet they were
also a very expensive price to pay. The risk of using aircraft in combat was high,
but it was extremely useful to the allied forces. First, during the dark time of WWII,
there were four main types of planes: fighters, bombers, seaplanes, and transport

Summartive Source Analysis Of The Giant
Summative Source Analysis
Source one is a political cartoon. The main focus is a giant man eating a burger.
The man is dressed in a cowboy hat with the American flag printed on it,
handkerchief, and is accessorized with a compass, showing that he is American. His
eyes and nose are covered by his hat, leaving only his massive grin apparent. It
represents that the man blindly devours anything he can. The meat of the burger is
replaced with the world. It s between his large hands, and moving towards his even
larger mouth, showing that it s about to be eaten. The man s size represents that he
has a extreme amount of power. The world s size shows that it s just another meal for
the man, because it is shown to be small and worthless. The man does not see any
beauty or worth in the world, besides its ability to provide him another meal, and
give him more power. The fact that the burger hasn t reached his mouth yet, shows
that there is a chance to stop the man from devouring it. The author s attitude is
mocking. It s showing the giant to be blind, which means he is slow and
incapable. The globe is also shown to be helpless, when really it has potential to
save itself from the man. The message of this political cartoon is that people have to
stop corporations from taking all of the resources, and having the most power. A
person that s blind shouldn t have an immense amount of responsibility, there for,
companies that only have one goal to achieve, should not be aloud to call all
Data Of Different Data Types

This approach is dynamic and allows for efficient retrieval of data items without
any basic indexing structure as progressive query is used. However the progressive
Query gives optimal result only under progressive query condition. Even noise in the
audio or video is not considered in the database.
In the current industry, uses of digital libraries have increased rapidly leading to the
growth of multimedia data. Hence it is really difficult to access the huge amounts of
data. There is need for an efficient approach to organize the data and access the data
in really short span of time. This system [4] follows a tree structure to index the data
and access every node. The nodes are divided leaf nodes and non leaf node, leaf
node having information of its distance to the nearest neighbor, dimensional features
of the node itself. It is implemented as arrays of information, containing the address
to leaf nodes and minimum distance to the neighboring nodes similar non leaf node.
In this way the nodes are arranged and indexed, used as indexes to make searching
easy. In the approach nearest neighbor can be accessed easily. Since single indexing
is used for entire system, the same indexing can be used for both inserting and
deleting. It also works in high dimensional environment. The
Michelangelo1 Essay
Michelangelo1 Michelangelo is one of the greatest creators in the history of art. Most
people recognize the genius for his beautiful sculpture David and his breathtaking
paintings on the walls and ceiling of the Sistine chapel. However, along with his
sculptures and paintings, Michelangelo was an accomplished poet and architect;
which is a reflection of his amazing creative ability.
Michelangelo was born on March 6, 1475, in a small Italian city, Caprese, but he
spent a large portion of his life in Rome, Italy. It was there that Michelangelo created
one of the most famous works of art, the marble sculpture, Pieta. A controversially

Also, one characteristic of every Pieta, other than Michelango s, is the awkwardness
of the Mother and child; the artist solved this common problem by draping Mary in
long, flowing clothes and arranging the two bodies to form a pyramid. Michelangelo
has had many influential people persuade his works. Hibbard states that with the Pieta,
We sense the debt to [Michelangelo s] Early Renaissance forebears Verrocchio and
Jacopo della Quercia and of course this is still, chronologically a work of the
Quattrocento. Highly finished and polished, it shows a Quattrocento love of detail;
linear drapery folds pile up in ornamental abundance (46)
Two items are peculiar about the Michelangelo s Pieta, Mary s youthful face and
the artist s signature, which is found only on the Pieta. Common knowledge shows
that the artist gave Mary a youthful face because women retain their beauty longer
if they are virgins, and perhaps Michelangelo sensed his great accomplishment and
felt proud to chisel his name on the work; certainly, it was fitting for such an
immaculate work of art. The Pieta is considered untouchable by today s art world; a
work that will never be duplicated. Michelangelo s Pieta is one of the most notable
works of all time.
When Michelangelo moved back to Florence, Italy, the artist created one of his most
recognizable sculptures, the David. Unlike most works of David, which show the
young boy after his victory over
Tribal Mentality In Sports
Ever since the beginning of mankind, humans have resorted to grouping themselves
together to, at all costs, achieve a common goal. From hunting and surviving together
in prehistoric times to the more modern, such as joining together with others to form
an exercising group, tribal mentality has had a pivotal role in the development of
society. Now, tribal mentality in sports clubs has recently garnered a significant
amount of attention in the media because some critics have lamented that this
mentality has been linked with unnecessary conflicts and aggression in the sports
community. This is simply not true. As usual when debating a matter of high
controversy, one must take a step back to analyze the whole picture. Therefore, in
order to understand why a tribal mentality has positive effects, one must first look at

Furthermore, it is commonly believed that cult like exercise groups are harmful to
the physical development of individuals since they stop people from opening their
minds to other rhythms and forms of exercise and may also lead to petty conflicts.
For instance, in the world of American football, in high school, members of the team
usually get in disagreements with members of other sports clubs and, if it is deemed
necessary by the coach, someone may get cast of the team if they start to show more
interest and commitment to other clubs or activities. In their world, you are either
with them or against them. While this may be true, a tribal mentality promotes
support and dedication among a group of people that may otherwise not be connected

concerns related to the surrogate mother s involvement in the child s life as well.

The Pipe Organ
The music it makes is as complex as it is majestic. The pipe organ is one of the
largest and most technically sophisticated instruments. Building one is an incredible
feat of engineering and craftsmanship. Early man discovered he could make music by
blowing across hollow reeds of different lengths. In ancient Egypt, an engineer s
device would later would become the basic technology of the pipe organ. A steady
airflow without mouth blowing while controlling air to each pipe to create different
notes. By the Middle ages, the pipe organ was a fixture in churches throughout
Europe. Johann Sebastian Bach composed his greatest works for organ while
working as a musical director of a church. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was born in Eisenach, Germany on March 21st, 1685 to a long rooted family of
musicians. Some historians argued that during his time, the term Bach is almost
synonymous with being a musician. His father Johann Ambrosius taught him how
to play musical instruments from an early age, and at the age of 7, Bach went to a
Lutheran school where he studied Latin and other subjects, which would later
impact Bach s career. Bach was profoundly religious and he saw everything that he
did as a composer and musician as basically an act of prayer. Bach s parents died
when he was quite young, and he was adopted by his brother Christoph who was an

Essay on Castles and Kings Crumble
A phone call. That s all it took to ruin what left of my day. One single, seemingly
meaningless phone call. I could have just ignored it, then it wouldn t have royally
damaged what was remained of my stupid, tedious, unhappy assignment. It was a
simple enough job, for the money at least. Put a neat crater into some business
officials face, let his brains leak out, call to confirm, get the cash and leave. Easy.
The stuck up prick went to the machines downstairs to get a pop at around 8:37 in
the morning, roughly five minutes after he arrived in his posh, professional office
probably with a gold or bronze name plate that showed he did none of the work but
took all the credit. This bloke worked for five minutes then had to get something...

UP. I mutter aloud through gritted teeth to no one in particular. Removing the
phone from the shirt pocket, I tossed it on the concrete floor without looking, eyes
locked to the scene. How the hell was I supposed to get a good shot in with that
damn thing vibrating against my chest? The target s not there. As if adding insult
to injury, the phone let out a disdained chime and fell silent. 1 New Voicemail:
from Mr. Smith A bolt of cold dread wells up in my throat. I knew that I d botched
up this job, even though it wasn t my fault the fat lard decided not to amble down
and chug a cola. Reasons aside, he was still going hold me responsible, further still
I hadn t answered my phone. Well shit, was I in for it now. I picked up the phone.
Moran, the voice on the other end of the line said, it s tone clipped and tight.
Unusual, I thought, for Smith, who typically sounded like a frog with a head cold.
Get your worthless ass to the 7.15 Warehouse. Now I was sure of it, Smith didn t
just sound sharp, he sounded anxious, frightened. You hear me? 7.15 Warehouse
now. RIGHT. FUCKIN NOW. The call ended suddenly but it may as well have
been funeral bells, because that s what the 7.15 Warehouse was. An oversized
interrogation chamber and disposal unit. In some time past I was posted there as
extra security from a job with little details and lots of pay, the inhuman screams still
lingered somewhere in the back part of my mind. God knows
The Founding Of The Information Age
One of the most important people in the founding of the Information Age would
probably be Gordon Moore. From his work at Shockley Semiconductor to his
founding of Intel, Moore has probably done more for the Information Age than
anyone else: his contributions include mass producing the transistor, making
integrated circuits viable, and founding Intel to create these ICs. Throughout it all, he
maintained an optimism and can do attitude that allowed him to shape our world into
what it is today.
While he was a child, Moore liked math and chemistry, but while he was in high
school he was preoccupied with sports more than studies. Moore graduated from
Sequoia High School and spent two years at San Jose State college. After that, he

He became convinced that transistors would have a place in the electronics market,
but his accomplishments led him to frequently disagree with Shockley. Moore and
seven other of his colleagues became tired of Shockley s management style, so they
left Shockley Semiconductor and formed their own enterprise known as Fairchild
Camera and Instrument. For this reason, the founders of Fairchild became known as
the Traitorous Eight (Thackray and Brock 22).
When the Traitorous Eight needed to choose a location for the Fairchild offices in
1957, they picked an area in California that would later become known as Silicon
Valley ( Gordon E. Moore , Business Leader Profiles for Students). Moore was
given the option to choose his position at the new company; while most of his
colleagues opted for management jobs, he chose to work as the head of research and
development ( Gordon E. Moore , Business Leader Profiles for Students). At this job,
he used his experience in chemistry to form critical junctions on transistor prototypes
during his time at Fairchild Semiconductor (Thackray and Brock 177). When asked
about his research with junctions during his time at Fairchild, Moore recalled Until
that time nobody had any idea at all one metal could be used to make contact with
[two transistor terminals]. I remember struggling with all kinds of metals to try to do
this, and one day [Robert Noyce] said, Why don t you try aluminum? From everything
we knew, aluminum
Public Surveillance in the USA Essay
1. Introduction
All the developed countries (developing countries are also in no way lagging
behind) the incidence of the people being monitored under various surveillance
systems is high of which closed circuit television system (CCTV) is gaining
dominance. For instance, the UK has over 4.2 million of them, giving it a ratio of
one for every 14 persons and the USA is reported to have been installing it on a
rapid pace in every conceivable location as town centers, schools, public
transportation systems etc with a spiraling budget estimated at $100 million. With
the terrorists attacks looming large in the wake of 9/11 attacks and despite the killing
of Osama Bin Laden, the trends are going towards more and more technology oriented

In so far as the issues relating to abuse of the powers in the implementation of such
measures, it true that there is going to a certain amount of hardships involved with
some innocent people undergoing harassment but the freedom of speech guaranteed,
public discussion at large should be able to set right such abuses by bringing out to
the notice of political leaders and policy makers who should be able to introduce
reasonable restraint on the executive while enforcing such measures. The rest of the
paper is organized as follows. It first discusses the public surveillance system as it is
obtaining in the selective parts of the developed world especially those which have
come into limelight due to actual or attempted attacks with motives to cause deaths,
loss to property and endanger peace. After this it takes into account the views of
scholars in the field which would be covered under overview section. Thereafter, in
the discussion section, it puts forth the stand I have taken with evidences for the need
of effective surveillance system and the paper concludes with a broad account what I

#1 eBay Selling
The first way to make more money online is to sell items on the site eBay. eBay is
an online auction and shopping website that allows you to sell your own household
items online for a profit or buy a product from the site and then resell it for a greater
profit. It is probably the biggest and most popular of this type of websites throughout
the entire Internet. A good aspect of this money making plan is that it is easy to sell
products on the site.
There are some cons associated with this way of earning though. Such as the fees
correlated with the selling a product, there is more than one. Another issue is that it
is not easy and a lot of work for sometimes less than satisfactory outcome. Along with
all this it can be quite difficult to determine the right niche for your products in order
to beat the heavy competition involved with whatever it might be. All that said, there
is money to be made.
#2 Sell Your Own and Other Services
The next method of earning an online income is either selling someone
Summary Of Chira Banerjee Divakaruni s The Palace Of...
Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni s novel, The Palace of Illusions is the epitome of
feminism. It retells the story of Mahabharata from the view point of Draupadi, the
daughter of King Drupad. The delicate threads of her life have beautifully been
interwoven to bring forth a grasping story. Chitra Banerjee has herself written I
would uncover the story that lay invisible between the lines of the men s exploits.
Better still I would have her one of her tell it herself, with all her joys and doubts,
her struggles and her triumphs, her heartbreaks, her achievements, the unique female
way in which she sees her world and her place in it. (XV). King Drupad, ruler of
Panchaal, one of the most prosperous kings of the continent Bharat was the father of
Draupadi. The very birth of Panchali is marked with revenge and redundant. An
offspring of vengeance and an expected one she trails after her brother
Dhristadyumna out of the sacrificial fire and is often called as Yagnyaseni. She
was also known as Krishnaa because she was copper skinned, fiery eyed and had long
black hair. She was gifted with blue lotus fragrance and hence called Yojangandha.
Her own father had not expected her as he had long prayed to the Gods for a son to
avenge Drona. Along with a dutiful son Gods had presented him a daughter whose
future had been prophesized to change the course of history. You will bring about
the death of evil kings and your children s and your brother s. A million women will
become widows
A Comparison of the Prince and the Analects
The Prince or The Analects
By Rory Steuart
Comparing the The Analects (confucious) with the Prince (Machiavelli) is something
like comparing George bush and Elizabeth May of the green party. Basically the
wrtitings of The Analects totally disagrees with the writings of The Prince. Confucius
believes people are easily improved and taught through self promotion and
development, Machaveli however sees humanity in a much different light.
Machiavelli was an innovator of realism politics and believed that people of power
should conduct themselves as tyrants. Machiavelli and Confucius are from totally
different time periods and different places in the world. Which could possibly be the
reason The Analects and The Prince are so very ... Show more content on

A prince has plenty to worry about during times of war and everyone is out to get
you so you must be greedy and heinous in times of war. The prince declares that the
nation state comes first before individuals. A strong prince can encounter any
enemy in war. The prince proclaims a ruler must not depend on fortifications. A
ruler who can t create a fearsome army and relies only on defense is not a strong
ruler. Machiavelli does focus a lot on the importance of having a city that is unable
to be taken by siege, but if you must be able to raise your own army to go on the
attack. Therefore a Prince must have a heavily fortified city and be able to deploy
an army of his own. Machiavelli believes that the foundation of a strong Nation
State is a strong army. According to The prince the most important part of being a
leader is studying the art of war. Staying in power is a main point in the prince and
to stay in power a Prince must conduct a strong army. The Prince proclaims not
only do you need a strong army but also you need to be in total control of that army.
Prince ought to have no other aim or thought, nor select anything else for his study,
than war and its rules and discipline; for this is the sole art that belongs to him who
rules, and it is of such force that it not only upholds those who are born princes, but it
often enables
Summer For The Gods Summary
Edward J. Larson introduces the world to a very detailed account of the Scopes
trial with a book called Summer for the Gods. Larson himself has a law degree,
Ph.D. in history, and is a history and law professor at the University of Georgia
making him more than qualified to elaborate on the accounts of this historical trial.
Summer for the Gods describes the events leading up to the Scopes trial, trial itself,
and the aftermath that takes place in 1925. This trial is based whether or not evolution
should be taught in schools, a controversy that very much plagues the United States.
The trial will put an infamous criminal lawyer Clarence Darrowand the famous
fundamentalist religiosity politician William Jennings Bryanagainst each other in a...

Part one is everything leading up to the trial and sets the stage for the rejection of
Darwinism and evolution theories by Protestants and fundamentalists. Larson
characterizes the emerging conflict as populist majoritarianism and traditional
evangelical faith versus scientific secularism and modern concepts of individual
liberty (Larson,83). Larson uses his knowledge of history to touch on the fact that
before the 1920s both science and Christianity had a cordial relationship.
Fundamentalist Christians would stir up the issue of evolution in the 1920s leading
to the antievolution crusade. Larson goes into further detail of the theory of
evolution, Darwinism, the fundamentalist and Protestants, and the idea of poisoning
children with evolution leaving a lot of social unrest. Larson uses all this history to
set up the conflict between the famous politician William Jennings Bryan and the
American Civil Liberties Union. Bryan is a leading antievolutionist and is involved
in many of the antievolution laws during this time. The American Civil Liberties
Union was originally founded to defend protestors during world war one then shifted
focus to defending labor union
Tom Tykwer s Use Of Visual Techniques In Run Lola Run
The film Run Lola Run directed by Tom Tykwer, is an intense, fast paced motion
picture which captures the usage of a variety of visual techniques. Tykwer utilizes
several elements within the film in order to convey numerous themes but the most
significant theme implemented throughout Run Lola Run is that life is based on
chance. The directors decision to implement a video game like structure within the
filmallows the audience to interpret each individual scene differently. For example,
within Lola s initial life she is shot in the chest and later dies from her injury. The
screen slowly fades to a dark crimson red, leaving the viewer to ponder on what
events will later come. In the reality that we as humans perceive, Lola s life would

Essay On Skills

  • 1. Essay On Skills Crafting an essay on the broad and multifaceted subject of "Skills" presents a unique set of challenges. The inherent difficulty lies in the vast scope of the topic, as skills encompass a wide array of abilities and competencies across different domains. Pinning down a precise focus becomes a daunting task, as one must navigate through the intricate web of soft skills, hard skills, interpersonal skills, technical skills, and more. Moreover, the challenge extends beyond mere categorization. Delving into the depth of each skill type requires a nuanced understanding and the ability to weave a cohesive narrative that elucidates the significance and interplay of various skills. The challenge is not only in providing a comprehensive overview but also in delving into the practical applications and the evolving nature of skills in today's dynamic world. Another layer of complexity emerges when considering the diversity of perspectives on what constitutes a valuable skill. The subjective nature of skill evaluation further complicates the task, demanding a balanced approach that considers different cultural, societal, and professional contexts. Additionally, addressing the ever-changing landscape of skills in the context of technological advancements and societal shifts adds a layer of intricacy to the essay. Structuring the essay poses another hurdle. Balancing the depth of analysis with clarity and conciseness is crucial. Finding the right equilibrium between theoretical discussions and practical examples is a delicate task that requires careful consideration. Nectar Aquatic Research Paper Flowers are thousands of different varieties and not many people ever wonder what makes the flowers more exquisite or what process relation the flower has with the pollinator. In the Southern region of Texas there s nothing but cactus; sometimes on the cactus you can see some pink, red, orange, and yellow blooming on the cactus! First time people see that, it s a little shocking because how would an organism feed off it, when there are thorns connected to the cactus. Although many of the anatomic and bodily propositions were incorrect, Hippocrates concepts were closer to the diagnostics and teachings of today than those of metaphysical reasoning. For these reasons, On the Sacred Disease provided a structural understanding of diseases in our bodies today. Hippocratesmain concepts are derived from the fact that this disease originates from a natural cause. He states , Men regard its nature and cause as divine from ignorance and wonder...this notion of divinity is kept up by their inability to comprehend it (33 35). It was this sacred disease of epilepsy that people used to connect with divine interference. Divine stimulation was never in form of a sickness or disease. These people were under the idea that sickness was not a sole presence, but rather an ailment that affects the human body and is sent by divinities. Therefore people did little to treat the affected, but rather tried to appease the so called divine powers that sent the disease. In fact, the epileptic attacks were often referred to different gods depending on the symptoms such as Poseidon, Ares, Apollo, and Hecate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cultural Influence Of The Meiji Era On Japanese Food Culture In producing an anthropological account of my chosen meal event, which is my experience of dining at the Meiji restaurant in Osaka, I will use a mixed theoretical approach which is influenced by Mintz s (1985) Sweetness and Power to show how material conditions and symbolic representations of food are interrelated. Firstly, I will look at the historical influence of the Meiji Era on Japanese food culture (Anderson 2005; Hiroko 2008). I will then look at gender in Japanese food culture, specifically how masculinity is associated with fish markets and sushi preparation, and how these culturally engrained gender roles correlate with my observations and experience at the restaurant (Corson 2009; Bestor 2004; Holden 2005). Finally I will discuss the biocultural complexity of food preferences, followed by an analysis of how food is related to identity formation and highly symbolic, and whether this symbolic meaning presupposes food preferences created by materialist conditions (Fischler 1988; Rappoport 2003; Harris 1985; Levi Strauss 1963). The most memorable meal event I have experienced occurred over a two week period at a restaurant in Osaka called Meiji . In early 2012 my partner and I visited Osaka for just over two weeks, choosing our vacation destination based on mutual appreciation for Japanese cuisineand onsen , Japanese bath. William Faulkner s `` A Rose For Emily `` While authors like Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King are known for their creepy writings, William Faulkner has achieved a level of disturbing that is hardly reached in short stories. A Rose for Emily is a story that shows how the insanity of one woman is able to shock an entire town, even in death. When first reading A Rose for Emily, anyone can see how twisted Emily Grierson is. Not only for the fact that she was sleeping in the same bed as a corpse, but because this was not the first time that she had kept a dead body in her house. While her family does have a history of mental instability, stating that, remembering old lady Wyatt, her great aunt, had gone completely crazy at last (section II), she is able to out do the impossible and create an aura of mystery that surrounds her both during life and death. After reading this story, it makes the audience question not only the reasoning that Emily has behind not only killing Homer, but keeping his body trapped in her house up until she met death as well. It also brings to attention how much the townsfolk actually influenced the progression of insanity that caused Emily and those around her, so much turmoil. For example, if the townsfolk had not used Emily as a source of entertainment and gossip, would she have stayed the recluse? While, the townsfolk are not to blame, it makes readers wonder: what if? Another question that I had while reading this story is, who was the narrator? The narrator, whoever they are, is able to

John Sloan describes the painting as a look at a curious two room household ( Philadelphia Museum of Art Collections Object: Three A.M. ). I chose this painting because it reminded me of times I have shared with my best friend. The scene reminded me of the countless nights I have spent with my best friend in the kitchen baking cookies and gossiping. When I went to the museum, I was with my best friend and the first thing that came to mind when we saw this was, This looks like us in my kitchen like two weekends ago. It made me think, if someone had just captured a small moment of us and painted it, it would look very similar to us. Sloan characterized himself as a sort of window watcher (Coco 1), which is evident in the way he painted the two women. He painted the room in a binocular view (Coco 1) that looks like it was painted while watching these people from a window. This painting has many gendered aspects, some of which are stereotypes. My gender, as well as the artist s gender, influence the understanding of the work of art. Knowing the sex of the artist introduces the preconceived notion of how the artist may view the opposite sex. In this painting, because I know the artist is a male when viewing the subjects of the painting I understand why they are painted in the way they are. His gender influences my

After the Arab Israeli war in 1948 the Egyptian army blamed their failure in losing the war on King Farouk. The lieutenant Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser decided to form a group called the Free officers movement. This group consisted of army members who wanted to abolish the monarchy that was linked to the British Empire and replace it with a republic. On July 23rd, 1949 the Free officers movement led by Muhammad Naguiband Nasser, overthrew King Farouk. King Farouk sailed into exile on his yacht on July 26 1952. Egypt was finally named a republic on June 18th, 1953 and Nasser became Egypt s first ever president and a commander and chief. He also gained a lot of respect from the people in Egypt. Nasser made a new constitution and changed up the government, so that the president had to the right to dismiss ministers. Nasser was also elected as second president and he also formed the National Union, this paved the way for the first parliament in Egypt which was in 1952. According to (Hornton) Egypt has passed through a critical period in her recent history characterized by bribery, mischief, and the absence of governmental stability. All of these were factors that had a large influence on the army. Mischief and absence of government stability was because of King Farouk and his lack of actually governing the country. King Farouk was very ignorant and corrupt

Support For Removing The Bereavement Exclusion Controversies Support for removing the bereavement exclusion Koukopoulos and Sani (2013) found that in ancient times the core of depression with mixed features consisted of the following excitatory symptoms: agitation, anxiety, anger, racing and crowded thoughts, irritability, and rage. The DSM 5 criterion for mixed features mentions only two of the seven symptoms (Koukopoulos Sani, 2013). In more recent literature as referenced by the DSM 5 mood disorders work group, it was found that some of the authors did not find any of the proposed DSM 5 symptoms for depressionwith mixed features diagnostically relevant. The first two diagnostic criteria proposed by the DSM 5 are euphoria and grandiosity, which were found to be too rare to be considered important because they are so infrequently occurring in a small amount of depressive patients (Koukopoulos Sani, 2013). Additionally, there was weak evidence to support the DSM 5 definition of mixed features for depression historically and scientifically. Overlapping criteria such as psychomotor agitation, irritability, and mood liability are found to be the core features of mixed depression. Due to this criterion, it is possible that many patients with mixed depression will most likely be diagnosed and treated inadequately. Instead, the evidence found supports the clinical validity for an alternative definition for agitated depression and mixed depression (Koukopoulos Sani, 2013). According to Zisook et al (2013),

One of these great pieces, he titled Wormwood; this poem likely was named after one of the demons originating from one of his earlier books the Screwtape letters. This poem focuses on the spiritual world and similar to Screwtape letters shows the impending darkness in the world around us. The poem utilized alternate rhyme meaning every two lines rhyme; however, this specific rhyme would not necessarily be repeated later. This poem begins with the lines Thou only art alternative to God, oh, dark and burning island among spirits. This introduction shows that although there exists an alternative to God, this option remains darkness and fire among evil spirits. Mr. Lewis then writes the names of three spirits who he thought would encourage the reader to avoid the darkness. Firstly he writes of Wormwood; this character, from earlier books, is constantly under the instruction of others more experienced demons in the art of encouraging sin and tormenting the humans... Although there is information on marine mammal related deaths there is no specific data on whale related deaths, meaning that the deaths could have come from another species. Whales play an important role in the flow of aquatic ecosystems. Blue Whales consume about forty trillion krill per day on average. By consuming that krill they are doing their part of stabilizing the oceanic ecosystem. Scientists are also learning more about whales and getting better understandings of their species, the cetacean. By performing biological studies and many observations scientists are able to learn about whale communication, intelligence, as well as environmental impacts. When scientists better understand whales they can find even more reasons as to protect whales and the importance of them from an environmental standpoint. The And The Criminal Justice System While the use of remand custody was implemented to avoid potential casualties to both the community and offenders, the dramatic increase of its use caught the attention of many scholars. They argue that while the practice has its advantages, it also has crippling drawbacks such as overpopulation in prisons and the undermining the presumption of innocence; the main principle which defines the criminal justice system. Individuals charged with an alleged offense are remanded into custody through the issuance of a warrant of committal by a JP or judge (Griffiths, 2015, pp. 179) and are continued to be held in prisonfor an indefinite time until they are needed to appear for court. The reason for custody may be issued out of concern that accused individuals may not attend court, possibly reoffend before their trial date, or were not granted bail. Remand custody is enforced to ensure offenders availability for court appearance to uphold the integrity of the justice system. Implementing remand custody allows for the safety of witnesses, who can testify without having their words be manipulated under the fear and harassment from offenders. Consideration of bail and outcomes to remand are merged; they have the same factors that determine whether as to whether offenders should be detained and whether they would be granted bail or not. Authorities may deny bail or decide to place offenders into custodial remand if they are deemed to be untrustworthy. If released, offenders may try

The man is dressed in a cowboy hat with the American flag printed on it, handkerchief, and is accessorized with a compass, showing that he is American. His eyes and nose are covered by his hat, leaving only his massive grin apparent. It represents that the man blindly devours anything he can. The meat of the burger is replaced with the world. It s between his large hands, and moving towards his even larger mouth, showing that it s about to be eaten. The man s size represents that he has a extreme amount of power. I knew that I d botched up this job, even though it wasn t my fault the fat lard decided not to amble down and chug a cola. Reasons aside, he was still going hold me responsible, further still I hadn t answered my phone. Well shit, was I in for it now. I picked up the phone. Moran, the voice on the other end of the line said, it s tone clipped and tight. Unusual, I thought, for Smith, who typically sounded like a frog with a head cold. Get your worthless ass to the 7.15 Warehouse. Now I was sure of it, Smith didn t just sound sharp, he sounded anxious, frightened. You hear me? 7.15 Warehouse now. RIGHT. FUCKIN NOW. The call ended suddenly but it may as well have been funeral bells, because that s what the 7.15 Warehouse was. An oversized interrogation chamber and disposal unit. In some time past I was posted there as extra security from a job with little details and lots of pay, the inhuman screams still lingered somewhere in the back part of my mind. God knows
  • 46. The Founding Of The Information Age One of the most important people in the founding of the Information Age would probably be Gordon Moore. From his work at Shockley Semiconductor to his founding of Intel, Moore has probably done more for the Information Age than anyone else: his contributions include mass producing the transistor, making integrated circuits viable, and founding Intel to create these ICs. Throughout it all, he maintained an optimism and can do attitude that allowed him to shape our world into what it is today. While he was a child, Moore liked math and chemistry, but while he was in high school he was preoccupied with sports more than studies. Moore graduated from Sequoia High School and spent two years at San Jose State college. After that, he transferred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He became convinced that transistors would have a place in the electronics market, but his accomplishments led him to frequently disagree with Shockley. Moore and seven other of his colleagues became tired of Shockley s management style, so they left Shockley Semiconductor and formed their own enterprise known as Fairchild Camera and Instrument. For this reason, the founders of Fairchild became known as the Traitorous Eight (Thackray and Brock 22). When the Traitorous Eight needed to choose a location for the Fairchild offices in 1957, they picked an area in California that would later become known as Silicon Valley ( Gordon E. Moore , Business Leader Profiles for Students). Moore was given the option to choose his position at the new company; while most of his colleagues opted for management jobs, he chose to work as the head of research and development ( Gordon E. Moore , Business Leader Profiles for Students). At this job, he used his experience in chemistry to form critical junctions on transistor prototypes during his time at Fairchild Semiconductor (Thackray and Brock 177). When asked about his research with junctions during his time at Fairchild, Moore recalled Until that time nobody had any idea at all one metal could be used to make contact with [two transistor terminals]. I remember struggling with all kinds of metals to try to do this, and one day [Robert Noyce] said, Why don t you try aluminum? From everything we knew, aluminum

Tom Tykwer s Use Of Visual Techniques In Run Lola Run The film Run Lola Run directed by Tom Tykwer, is an intense, fast paced motion picture which captures the usage of a variety of visual techniques. Tykwer utilizes several elements within the film in order to convey numerous themes but the most significant theme implemented throughout Run Lola Run is that life is based on chance. The directors decision to implement a video game like structure within the filmallows the audience to interpret each individual scene differently.
