65. The formula is as follows: You take the level of hair color you have to start with, i.e. level 9. Then take the color you intend to use, i.e. level 6. Add those two numbers together, i.e. 9+6=15. According to the scale, you would divide by 2 since you are using a level 5 or above. This gives you 7.5, i.e. 15/2=7.5 as the end result. The tone or reflect you use will also determine your results. Example 2: Level 8 – starting color Level 4 – color you use 8+4=12 According to the scale: Level 4, divide by 3 12/3=4 End result = 4 Example 3: Level 10 – starting color Level 6 – color you use 10+6=16 According to the scale: Level 5 and above divide by 2 16/2=8 End result = 8 Example 4: Level 7 – starting color Level 3 – color used 10+3=13 According to the scale: Level 3, divide by 3.5 13/3.5=3.7 End result = 4 Example 5: Level 9 – starting color Level 4 – color used 9+4=13 13/4=4.3 End result = 4.3 You can work this formula backwards, also to determine which color level to use depending on the results you wish to achieve. Example: Starting level 10 You want to achieve a level 6 If you use a 5 you would have a 15 as your total, i.e. 10+5=15. According to the scale, level 5 and above divide by 2 End result is 7.5 – this would not be dark enough So let’s try a 4. 10+4=14. 14 divided by 3 since you are using a level 4 and according to the scale you divide by 3 which gives you a 4.6. This is too dark. Therefore, the answer is that a level 4 and 5 combined will give you a level 6. Mathematically it works out this way: You end up with a 14.5 if you use half 5 and half 4.
