Energy Efficient Design of Multiplexer Using Adiabatic logicIJEEE
the increasing prominence of portable systems and the need to limit the power consumption in very high density VLSI chips have led to rapid and innovative developments in low power design during the recent years. The CMOS technology provides circuits with very low static power dissipation, during the switching operation currents are generated, due to the discharge of load capacitances that cause power dissipation increasing with the clock frequency. The adiabatic technique prevents such losses, the charge does not flow from the supply voltage to the load capacitance and then to ground, but it flows back to a trapezoidal or sinusoidal supply voltage and can be reused. In this paper a low 2:1 multiplexer is designed using positive feedback adiabatic logic. The design is simulated at .12µm technology using Microwind 3.1. Simulated results shows that proposed design saves 38% energy as compare to conventional CMOS design.

A novel low power and Positive Feedback Adiabatic Logic (PFAL) combinational low power circuit is presented in this paper. The power consumption and general characteristics of the PFAL combinationallow power circuit arethen compared against two combinational low power circuit Efficient Charge Recovery Logic (ECRL), Conventional CMOS. The proposed PFAL combinational low power circuit design was proven to be superior to the other two designs in power dissipation and area. The combination of low power and low transistor count makes the new PFAL cell a viable option for low power design.

Power conditioning circuits are required for the fuel cell systems due to its nature in energetic state. This paper proposed the small signal average modelling of a duel active bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter with LC filter, to generate the single phase AC power by using the H1000 fuel cell system. The controller is designed for the stable operation of the system. This paper focuses on principles of adiabatic logic, its classification and comparison of various adiabatic logic designs. An attempt has been made in this paper to modify 2PASCL (Two Phase Adiabatic Static CMOS Logic) adiabatic logic circuit to minimize delay of the different 2PASCL circuit designs. This modifications in the circuits leads to improvement of Power Delay Product (PDP) which is one of the figure of merit to optimize the circuit with factors like power dissipation and delay of the circuit. This paper investigates the design approaches of low power adiabatic gates in terms of energy dissipation and uses of Simple PN diode instead of MOS diode which reduces the effect of Capacitances at high transition and power clock frequency. A computer simulation using SPECTRE from Cadence is carried out on different adiabatic circuits, such as Inverter, NAND, NOR, XOR and 2:1 MUX.

Design and Simulation of Efficient DC-DC Converter Topology for a Solar PV Mo...Sajin Ismail
Modulated Integrated Converter systems are considered to be the new and global turning point in the field of
Solar PV systems. These converters are highly recognised for its modular size and compact nature and they are supposed to
be attached directly with each PV module and since one PV module is having the power rating of a few watts ranging from
0-500Ws, the design rating would be in the same range and thus the most vital condition in such a design is efficiency
under these relatively low loads. In this paper an isolated interleaved boost converter topology is considered in the DC-DC
section and which is designed and simulated for a specific power rating (250W) and the efficiency is analysed with varying
load conditions and compared with the target efficiency of the system.

Adiabatic describe the thermodynamic processes in which there is no energy exchange with the environment, and therefore very less dissipated energy loss. These circuits are low power circuits which use reversible logic to conserve energy. Adiabatic logic works with the concept of switching activities which reduces the power by giving stored energy back to the supply. The main design changes are focused on power clock which plays the vital role in the principle of operation. This has been used because many adiabaticcircuits use a combined power supply and clock, or a power clock (Four Phase). To achieve this, the power supply of adiabatic logic circuits have used time varying voltage charging signal, in contrast to traditional non-adiabatic systems that have generally used constant voltage charging from a fixed-voltage power supply. Thereby the circuit topology and operation of the circuit has been changed so that the source current of CMOS transistor change its direction and goes back to the supply(Recovery) when the power clock falls from VDD to zero. Power efficient blocks can be designed by using adiabatic logic which can be used in combinational and sequential circuits. The simulation of the designs is done using a backend tool called MENTOR GRAPHICS in 130nm technology
The main goal of this paper to produce new low power solutions for very large scale
integration(VLSI).The main focus of this research on the power consumption, which is showing an
ever-increasing growth with scaling down of the technologies. The full adder is the most important
component of any digital system applications. To limit the power dissipation, this full adder is
designed with adiabatic technique PFAL and it compare with partial adiabatic technique ECRL.
These analysis have done on TANNER simulator V 7 technology. The power is reduced up to 70-
80% as compared to other methods.
Power Comparison of CMOS and Adiabatic Full Adder Circuits VLSICS Design
Full adders are important components in applications such as digital signal processors (DSP) architectures and microprocessors. Apart from the basic addition adders also used in performing useful operations such as subtraction, multiplication, division, address calculation, etc. In most of these systems the adder lies in the critical path that determines the overall performance of the system. In this paper conventional complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) and adiabatic adder circuits are analyzed in terms of power and transistor count using 0.18UM technology.

SIMULTANEOUS OPTIMIZATION OF STANDBY AND ACTIVE ENERGY FOR SUB-THRESHOLD CIRC...VLSICS Design
Increased downscaling of CMOS circuits with respect to feature size and threshold voltage has a result of
dramatically increasing in leakage current. So, leakage power reduction is an important design issue for

VOLTAGE STACKING FOR SIMPLIFYING POWER MANAGEMENT IN ASYNCHRONOUS CIRCUITSVLSICS Design
Multiple power domains on a single integrated circuit (IC) are becoming more common due to the increasing complexity of systems on chips (SoCs) as process nodes continue to get smaller. Supplying the correct voltage to each domain requires the use of multiple voltage converters that occupy substantial
space either on-chip or off-chip and introduce additional power loss in the conversions. In this paper, an asynchronous paradigm called Multi-Threshold NULL Convention Logic (MTNCL) is used to create a “stacked” architecture that reduces the number of converters needed and thereby mitigating the
aforementioned problems. In this architecture, the MTNCL circuits are stacked between a multiple of VDD
and GND, where simple control mechanisms alleviate the induced dynamic range fluctuation problem. The GLOBALFOUNDRIES 32nm Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) CMOS process is used to evaluate and analyze the theoretical effects of parasitic extracted physical implementations in stacking different circuits running different workloads. These results show that the “stacked” architecture introduce negligible overhead
compared to the operation of the individual circuits while substantially alleviating the need for voltage converters, which in turn reduces the overall power consumption of the system.

In this paper, an asynchronous paradigm called Multi-Threshold NULL Convention Logic (MTNCL) is used to create a “stacked” architecture that reduces the number of converters needed and thereby mitigating the aforementioned problems. In this architecture, the MTNCL circuits are stacked between a multiple of VDD and GND, where simple control mechanisms alleviate the induced dynamic range fluctuation problem. The GLOBALFOUNDRIES 32nm Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) CMOS process is used to evaluate and analyze the theoretical effects of parasitic extracted physical implementations in stacking different circuits running different workloads. These results show that the “stacked” architecture introduce negligible overhead compared to the operation of the individual circuits while substantially alleviating the need for voltage converters, which in turn reduces the overall power consumption of the system.

Design and Implementation of Low Power Multiplier Using Proposed Two Phase Cl...IJECEIAES
This paper presents a design and implementation of 2*2 array and 4*4 array multiplier using proposed Two Phase Clocked Adiabatic Static CMOS logic (2PASCL) circuit. The proposed 2PASCL circuit is based on adiabatic energy recovery principle which consumes less power. The proposed 2PASCL uses two sinusoidal power clocks which are 180 0 phase shifted with each other. The measurement result of 2*2 array proposed 2PASCL multiplier gives 80.16 % and 97.67 %power reduction relative to reported 2PASCL and conventional CMOS logic and the measurement result of 4*4 array proposed 2PASCL multiplier demonstrate 32.88 % and 82.02 %power reduction compared to reported 2PASCL and conventional CMOS logic. Another advantage of the proposed circuit is that it gives less power though the number of transistors in proposed and reported 2PASCL circuit is same. From the result we conclude that proposed 2PASCL technology is advantageous to application in low power digital systems, pacemakers and sensors. The circuits are simulated at 180nm technology mode.
The paper presents a low Power consumption plays a vital role in the present day VLSI technology. Power consumption of an electronic device can be reduced by adopt changed design styles. Analysis of Fuel Cell Based Multilevel DC-DC Boost Converter for Induction MotorIJMTST Journal
In this paper new topologies and interleaving modulation concepts for multilevel DC-DC boost converter
enabling a significantly less loss and a reduced chip size of the power semiconductors are proposed. The
distributed generation (DG) systems based on the renewable energy sources have rapidly developed in
recent years. These DG systems are powered by micro sources such as fuel cells, photovoltaic (PV) systems,
and batteries. Fuel cells are considered to be one of the most promising sources of distributed energy because
of their high efficiency, low environmental impact and scalability. Non-isolated high step-up DC-DC
converters are required in the industrial applications. Many of these conventional DC–DC converters have the
disadvantages of operating at high duty-cycle, high switch voltage stress and high diode peak current. A
three-level step up converter is implemented to boost the fuel cell stack voltage of 96V to 340V. The proposed
converter consists a system of fuel cell based Multilevel DC-DC converter with PI controller is modeled and
simulated by using Matlab/Simulink.
A new bidirectional multilevel inverter topology with a high number of voltage levels with a very reduced number of power components is proposed in this paper. Only TEN power switches and four asymmetric DC voltage sources are used to generate 25 voltage levels in this new topology. The proposed multilevel converter is more suitable for e-mobility and photovoltaic applications where the overall energy source can be composed of a few units/associations of several basic source modules. Several benefits are provided by this new topology: Highly sinusoidal current and voltage waveforms, low Total Harmonic Distortion, very low switching losses, and minimum cost and size of the device. For optimum control of this 25-level voltage inverter, a special Modified Hybrid Modulation technique is performed. The proposed 25-level inverter is compared to various topologies published recently in terms of cost, the number of active power switches, clamped diodes, flying capacitors, DC floating capacitors, and the number of DC voltage sources. This comparison clearly shows that the proposed topology is cost-effective, compact, and very efficient. The effectiveness and the good performance of the proposed multilevel power converter (with and without PWM control) are verified and checked by computational simulations.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Abstract
The energy stored at the output can be
retrieved by the reversing the current source
direction discharging process instead of dissipation
in NMOS network. Hence adiabatic switching
offers the less energy dissipation in PMOS network
and reuse the stored energy in the output
capacitance by reversing the current source
direction. There are the many adiabatic logic

two of them are chosen ECRL and PFAL, which
shows the good improvement in energy dissipation
and are mostly used as reference in new logic

I. INTRODUCTION
The main objective of this thesis is to
provide new low power solutions for Very Large
Scale Integration (VLSI) designers. Especially, this
work focuses on the reduction of the power
dissipation, which is showing an ever-increasing
growth With the scaling down of the technologies.
Various techniques at the different levels of the
design process have been implemented to reduce the
power dissipation at the circuit, architectural and
system level. Furthermore, the number of gates per
chip area is constantly increasing, while the gate
switching energy does not decrease at the same rate,
so the power dissipation rises and heat removal
becomes more difficult and expensive. Then, to limit
the power dissipation, Alternative solutions at each
level of abstraction are proposed. The dynamic power
requirement of CMOS circuits is rapidly becoming a
major concern in the design of personal information
systems and large computers. In this thesis work, a
new CMOS logic family called ADIABATIC
LOGIC, based on the adiabatic switching principle is
presented.
The term adiabatic comes from
thermodynamics, used to describe a process in which
there is no exchange of heat with the environment.
The adiabatic logic structure dramatically reduces the
power dissipation.
The Adiabatic switching technique can
achieve very low power Dissipation, but at the
expense of circuit complexity. Adiabatic logic offers
a way to reuse the energy stored in the load
capacitors rather than the traditional way of
discharging the load capacitors to the ground and
wasting this energy.

(F) and pull-down (/F) networks.
This thesis work demonstrates the low
power dissipation of Adiabatic Logic by
presenting the results of designing various design/
cell units employing Adiabatic Logic circuit
techniques. A family of full-custom conventional
CMOS Logic and an Adiabatic Logic units for
example, an inverter, a two-neither input NAND
gate, a two-input NOR gate, a two-input XOR gate, a
two-to-one multiplexer and a one-bit Full Adder were
designed in Mentor Graphics IC Design Architect
using standard TSMC 0.35 µm technology, laid
out in Microwind IC Station.
All the circuit simulations has been done
using various schematics of the structures and post-
layout simulations are also being done after
they all have been laid-out by considering all the
basic design rules and by running the LVS program.
Finally, the analysis of the average dynamic power
dissipation with respect to the frequency and the load
capacitance was done to show the amount of power
dissipated by the two logic families.
Adiabatic logic circuits reduce the energy dissipation
during switching process, and reuse the some of
energy by recycling from the load capacitance. For
recycling, the adiabatic circuits use the constant

current source power supply and for reduce

supply voltage.
II. DISSIPATION MECHANISMS IN
ADIABATIC LOGIC CIRCUITS
Fig.2 shows, the equivalent circuit used to
model the conventional CMOS circuits during
charging process of the output load capacitance. But
here constant voltage source is replaced with the
constant current source to charge and discharge the
output load capacitance. Here R is on resistance of
the PMOS network, CLis the load capacitance.
Energy dissipation in resistance R is
Fig.2 Equivalent model during charging process in
adiabatic circuits.
Since Ediss depends upon R, so by reducing the on
resistance of PMOS network the energy dissipation
can be minimized. The on resistance of the MOSFET
is given by the first order approximation is [3-5],
Where μ is the mobility, Cox is the specific oxide
capacitance, Vgs is the gate source voltage, W is the
withal is the length and Vth is the threshold voltage.
Ediss also depends upon the charging time T, If T>>
2RC then energy dissipation will be smaller than the
conventional CMOS. The energy stored at output can
be retrieved by the reversing the current source
direction during discharging process instead of
dissipation in NMOS network. Hence adiabatic
switching technique offers the less energy dissipation
in PMOS network and reuses the stored energy in the
output load capacitance by reversing the current
source direction [1, 2].
III. ADIABATIC LOGIC GATE
In the following, we will examine simple
circuit configurations which can be used for adiabatic
switching. Figure 3.2 shows a general circuit
topology for the conventional CMOS gates and
adiabatic counterparts. To convert a conventional
CMOS logic gate into an adiabatic gate, the pull-up
and the pull-down networks must be replaced with
complementary transmission-gate (T-gate) networks.
The T-gate network implementing the pull-up
function is used to drive the true output of the
adiabatic gate, while the T-gate network
implementing the pull-down function drives the
complementary output node. Note that all the inputs
should also be available in complementary form.
Both the networks in the adiabatic logic circuit are
used to charge-up as well as charge-down the output
capacitance, which ensures that the energy stored
at the output node can be retrieved by the power
supply, at the end of each cycle. To allow adiabatic
operation, the DC voltage source of the original
circuit must be replaced by a pulsed-power supply
with the ramped voltage output.

IV. ADIABATIC LOGIC TYPES
Practical adiabatic families can be classified
as either PARTIALLY ADIABATIC or FULLY
ADIABATIC. In a PARTIALLY ADIABATIC
CIRCUIT, some charge is allowed to be transferred
to the ground, while in a FULLY ADIABATIC
CIRCUIT, all the charge on the load capacitance is
recovered by the power supply. Fully adiabatic
circuits face a lot of problems with respect to the
operating speed and the inputs power clock
synchronization.
A) ECERL-Efficient Charge Recovery Logic:
Efficient Charge – Recovery Logic (ECRL)
proposed by Moon and Jeong [13], shown in Figure,
uses cross-coupled PMOS transistors. It has the
structure similar to Cascode Voltage Switch Logic
(CVSL) with differential signaling. It consists of two
cross-coupled transistors M1 and M2 and two
NMOS transistors in the An AC power supply
pwr is used for ECRL gates, so as to recover and
reuse the supplied energy. Both out and /out are
generated so that the power clock generator can
always drive a constant load capacitance
independent of the input signal. A more detailed
description of ECRL can be found in . Full output
swing is obtained because of the cross-coupled
PMOS transistors in both precharge and recovers
phases. But due to the threshold voltage of the PMOS
transistors, the circuits suffer from the non-adiabatic
loss both in the precharge and recover phases. That
is, to say, ECRL always pumps charge on the output
with a full swing. However, as the voltage on the
supply clock approaches.

B) Positive Feedback Adiabatic Logic:
The partial energy recovery circuit
structure named Positive Feedback Adiabatic Logic
(PFAL) has been used, since it shows the lowest
energy consumption if compared to other similar
families, and a good robustness against
technological parameter variations. It is a dual-rail
circuit with partial energy recovery. The general
schematic of the PFAL gate is shown in Figure 5.
The core of all the PFAL gates is an adiabatic
amplifier, a latch made by the two PMOS M1-M2
and two NMOS M3-M4, that avoids a logic level
degradation on the output nodes out and /out. The
two n-trees realize the logic functions. This logic
family also generates both positive and negative
outputs. The functional blocks are in parallel with
the PMOSFETs of the adiabatic amplifier and
form a transmission gate. The two n-trees realize the
logic functions. This logic family also generates both
positive and negative outputs. The two major
differences with respect to ECRL are that the
latch is made by two PMOSFETs and two
NMOSFETS, rather than by only two
PMOSFETs as in ECRL logic, and that the
functional blocks are in parallel with the
transmission PMOSFETs. Thus the equivalent
resistance is smaller when the capacitance needs
to be charged. The energy dissipation by the
CMOS Logic family and Adiabatic PFAL Logic
family can be seen as in Figure 5

VI. CONCLUSION
With the adiabatic switching approach, the
circuit energies are conserved rather than dissipated
as heat. Depending on the application and the
system requirements, this approach can be used to
reduce the power dissipation of the digital
systems. With the help of adiabatic logic, the
energy savings of upto 76 % to 90 % can be
reached. Circuit simulations show that the
adiabatic design units can save energy by a
factor of 10 at 50 MHz logically equivalent
conventional CMOS implementation and about 2 at
250 MHz, as compared.
