1. PA – Physical Activity
Yoga Sessions:
In the first part, importance of yoga and benefits of doing yoga regularly were
discussed. In the second part, a sequence of yoga asana and pranayama was discussed.
It mainly covered following asanas and pranayama. Warm up exercise and Surya
namaskar. Sitting asanas: vajrasana, shashank asana, vakrasana, padpaschimottan
asana. Standing asanas: vriksh asana, pad hast asana, tad asana, ardha chakrasana. Lying
asanas: hala sana, sarvang asana, dhanurasananauk asana, shav asana. Pranayama:
Anulom vilom, Kapalbhati, Bhastrika. In the third session, meditation and relaxation was
practiced to attain peace of mind.
Brief introduction:
Yoga came to the attention of an educated western public in the mid-19th
century along with other topics of Indian philosophy. In the context of this budding
interest, N.C. Paul published his Treatise on Yoga Philosophy in 1851. Yoga as exercise is
a physical activity consisting largely of asanas, often connected by flowing sequences
called vinyasas, sometimes accompanied by the breathing exercises of pranayama, and
usually ending with a period of relaxation or meditation. It is often known simply as
yoga, despite the existence of multiple older traditions of yoga within Hinduism where
asanas played little or no part, some dating back to the Yoga Sutras, and despite the fact
that in no tradition was the practice of asanas central. The first Hindu teacher to actively
advocate and disseminate aspects of yoga, not including asanas, to a western audience,
Swami Vivekananda, toured Europe and the United States in the 1890s. The reception
which Swami Vivekananda received built on the active interest of intellectuals, in
particular the New England Transcendentalists, among them Ralph Waldo Emerson,
who drew on German Romanticism and philosophers and scholars like G. W. F. Hegel,
the brothers August Wilhelm Schlegel and Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Schlegel, Max Mueller,
Arthur Schopenhauer, and others who had interests in things Indian. In early Buddhism,
various yogic practices were taught including:
THE FOUR DHYĀNAS THE FOUR SATIPATTHANAS
ANAPANASATI THE FOUR IMMATERIAL DWELLINGS
THE BRAHMAVIHĀRĀS ANUSSATI
Also, we had some good learning about having an open mentality a mindset.
With the proper guidance of our teachers, we had developed many skills like “Thinking
out of the box”. With interactive session conducted we were able to interact with our
class mates and also got to know their views about the concerned topic.
2. CA – Creative Arts
Poetry Session
We learned about Poetry’s, Poets. We also discussed some of their great works.
Develop creativity and imagination through a range of complex activities.
Poetry (derived from the Greek poesies, "making") is a form of literature that
uses aesthetic and often rhythmic qualities of language—such as phonesthetics, sound
symbolism, and meter—to evoke meanings in addition to, or in place of, the prosaic
ostensible meaning.
Indian poetry and Indian literature in general, has a long history dating back to
Vedic times. They were written in various Indian languages such as Vedic Sanskrit,
Classical Sanskrit, Tamil, Odia, Maithili, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese, Urdu, and
Hindi. Poetry in foreign languages such as Persian and English also has a strong influence
on Indian poetry. The poetry reflects diverse spiritual traditions within India. In
particular, many Indian poets have been inspired by mystical experiences. Poetry is the
oldest form of literature and has a rich written and oral tradition.
Art and Painting Session
Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid
surface (called the "matrix" or "support"). The medium is commonly applied to the base with a
brush, but other implements, such as knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be used.
In art, the term painting describes both the act and the result of the action (the final work is
called "a painting"). The support for paintings includes such surfaces as walls, paper, canvas,
wood, glass, lacquer, pottery, leaf, copper and concrete, and the painting may incorporate
multiple other materials, including sand, clay, paper, plaster, gold leaf, and even whole objects.
Painting is an important form in the visual arts, bringing in elements such as drawing,
composition, gesture (as in gestural painting), narration (as in narrative art), and abstraction (as
in abstract art). Paintings can be naturalistic and representational (as in still life and landscape
painting), photographic, abstract, narrative, symbolistic (as in Symbolist art), emotive (as in
Expressionism), and/or political in nature (as in Archivism).
Music
Music is an art form, and a cultural activity, whose medium is sound. General definitions of
music include common elements such as pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm
(and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness),
and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a
musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some
of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and vocal techniques
ranging from singing to rapping; there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces (such
as songs without instrumental accompaniment) and pieces that combine singing and
instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses").
In its most general form, the activities describing music as an art form or cultural activity
include the creation of works of music (songs, tunes, symphonies, and so on), the criticism of
music, the study of the history of music, and the aesthetic examination of music. Ancient Greek
and Indian philosophers defined music in two parts: melodies, as tones ordered horizontally,
and harmonies as tones ordered vertically. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the
spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and
pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can
be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound."
Zendala Art
Zendalas are a combination of the Zentangle art form and Mandalas.
it is the art that leads to meditation and spiritual connection. It's a doodling in a circle,
repeating some patterns, but there is no right or wrong way to draw a Zendala.
Zentangle is a process of doodling in a meditative state with “tangles” & repeated patterns to
design a space. It's easy to learn and easy to do. Zentangle is the art form that is fun and
relaxing.
Mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. Making a mandala teaches
us patience. The practice of concentrating and reproducing detailed patterns causes the mind
to slow down.
Discover the Hidden Artist in you!
Many people don’t think of themselves as creative, but everyone is creative in some way.
3. UHV - Universal Human Values
Holistic development and Eternal happiness
We learned about Holistic development and Eternal happiness and got a general
idea about Sankar also Imparted universal human values in students. Enable us to live in
harmony within ourselves, with family, with society and the nature. Initiated the process
of self-exploration and self-investigation within ourselves about their understanding of
happiness. An idea about how to maintain relationship, Which kind of relationship and
acceptance give happiness to us was imparted in us.
The needs of the Body cannot be fulfilled by Right Understanding, Right Feelings
alone. The needs of the Self cannot be fulfilled by Physio-Chemical Things. Both type of
needs has to be understood separately. Both type of needs has to be fulfilled separately.
Human beings need time and quantity which is fulfilled by Right Understanding
& Right Feeling.
KNOWING To see the reality as it is, in its completeness, by direct
observation. It is definite, has continuity & universality
ASSUMING Acceptance of the reality (acceptance can be on the basis of
knowing or even without knowing).
RECOGNISING The relationship (with human being and with rest of nature)
FULFILLING The relationship (with human being and with rest of nature)
Existence is in the form of co-existence. It is ever present
(Existence = Co- Existence = Units submerged in Space)
Every unit in existence is related with every other unit in existence in a mutually
fulfilling manner
Synergy is intrinsic to existence, harmony is inherent in existence – we do not
have to create it, we do not have to construct it
The role of Human Being is to realize this co-existence, this harmony, this order
in existence – For this, all that human beings need to do is:
To understand the inherent harmony, the co-existence in existence
To live accordingly – to live with the feeling of harmony or co-existence (and
there is every provision in existence for living in co-existence)
Human Being is co-existence of Self and Body
The Self is central to human existence; Body is an instrument of the Self
The transaction between Self and Body is only in the form of information
Physical Facility is required, in a limited quantity, for Nurturing, Protection & Right Utilization of the
Body
Prosperity = Feeling of having / producing more than required physical facility
Identification of required physical facility (including the required quantity) – with right
understanding
Ensuring availability/ production of more than required physical facility – with right skills
The Self and the Body are in Harmony when there is a feeling of Self-regulation in the Self and Health in
the Body
Self-regulation = Feeling of responsibility toward the body – for Nurturing, Protection and Right
Utilization of the Body
Health = The body acts according to Self and parts of the body are in harmony (in order)
4. LIT E- Literary English
The English Proficiency module was specially designed for entrants to
enhance their technical vocabulary and general and technical communication
skills. The module comprised of a total six units offering students’ knowledge
and drilling in general communication, vocabulary building, report writing,
interpretation and elaboration of graphical data and procedure writing. Experts
from different esteemed institutions from different universities of Gujarat were
invited for the deliverance of English Proficiency Module. Each division was
allotted with one and half hours of session for six consecutive days. Booklets
comprising of all the six units of proficiency module extending drilling into the
aforementioned area were distributed to the learners for better comprehension
and practice. The proficiency module helped the learners to acquire linguistic
competence for leading their academic life effectively. Learners were acquainted
with filling up of various forms and receipts for successful banking. It also
familiarized learners with various common tools which are used in workshops
and their functions and terms associated with them for enrichment of lexical
resource. Moreover, it also helped them to understand the difference between
general and technical English and their usage to make their daily general and
academic tractions successful. Deliverance of module was later on corroborated
by achievement test in order to evaluate learning attainment and measure the
improvement in the students from 19/10/2020 to 30/10/2020
We learned a lot about English language and had fun learning idioms,
paragraphs, stories and a lot literary skill
With interactive quiz we also learned a lot of new things and had a lot of
interaction with the teacher during this session we also came across may new
topics which we found to be interesting and tempted us know more and much
more about the topic.
5. LIT M- Literary Math’s
Mathematics has always been a tough subject to study and the
students are always struggling with a fear factor associated with
mathematics. Although practice makes a man perfect hold truth in many
typical tasks it also holds true for study as well. Mathematics has been too
complicated for majority of students. But mathematics as primary subject
in core and new engineering course is compulsory in world-wide
engineering education. In engineering there are several branches such as
computer science engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical
engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and civil
engineering and each branch has different study set focused on the
significance of mathematics.
The differential equations in mathematics find importance in
electrical engineering for solving circuit equations. There is another subject
in electrical engineering related to electromagnetic theory which involve
mathematical concepts on calculus, and building sound knowledge-base on
learning triple integrals and integration over a closed surface.
Mathematical linear algebra is inter connected with the electrical
engineering concepts of circuit theory and signal processing. Engineering
students has an advantage over mathematics to grasp basic to advanced
difficult concepts in core electrical engineering subjects. In engineering,
students learn all about extensive use of Laplace and Fourier transforms
equations which is related to
linear algebra in circuit theory
and signal processing.
Mathematical complex
number algebra find
maximum use in solutions of
sinusoidal excited circuits (AC)
equations and Power system
load flow problems.
With the guidance of the amazing faculties we will surely able to
crack the toughest of the toughest probluems.
6. PM - Proficiency Modules
The induction program period can be used to overcome some critical lacunas
that students might have, for example, English, computer familiarity etc. These should
run like crash courses, so that when normal courses start after the induction program,
the student has overcome the lacunas substantially. We hope that problems arising due
to lack of English skills, wherein students start lagging behind or failing in several
subjects, for no fault of theirs, would, hopefully, become a thing of the past.
Exercise:
1. A write up on "Importance of English Language in Engineering".
2. A list of 15 Idioms with its meanings and frame sentences using those idioms and fill in the blanks
given in the PPT slide.
3. Write a picture story as well as connecting the dots-A story mentioned in the PPT slide.
4. Write a note on any of the motivational/patriotic/inspired web series.
5. Write a Paragraph on "An unforgettable dream".
Importance of English Language in Engineering
English is acknowledged passport to better education and employment opportunities. English
language plays a crucial role to weave the world into a single thread. English has a status of a second
language in almost all the countries where it is not the first language. To acquire simple language for
day to day communication is main aim of learning any language. In turn, today’s workforce is expected
to be highly competent to continually improve skills and engage in lifelong learning. Language is a skill,
like any other skill until and unless we practice the skill mastery is highly impossible. The aim of
learning a language is directly linked with the LSRW skills that are to be developed. As a universal
process communication influence the activities of the human community at large. Social development
is a prominent feature of effective techniques of communication, which is necessary for sustaining the
growth and development. The need for learning a language arises from the point of view of its
adaptability, productivity, utility, universality and teachability. Communication is a sharing of feelings,
ideas and opinions with others. This can be intellectual, personnel spoken or written in nature. We live
in groups and man is invariably a social animal. As the social needs insist, we share our thoughts with
others. The two-way processes of communication motivate, inform, suggests, warns, orders, changing
behavior and establish better relationships to make interaction meaningful and make oneself
understood. Communication becomes effective when a communicator is effective enough to
communicate competently, simply, clearly sincerely and dynamically. Communication is essential for
close sympathetic relationships in a society and for transformation of men, material and thoughts from
one place to another. This process involves initiation reception and response that serve as feedback.
Hence, communication is interactive by nature. Today the compulsions of learning English are no
longer merely political but scientific and technological. And no longer is English language of Great
Britain only; it is the language required by the world for greater understanding; it is the most
international of languages. English has become a global language a connecting link, a language of
modern science and technologies, a language of latest sciences, like information technology and space
science, a language of all competitive examinations-be they the state level, national level or
international level. Whether we realize it or not we are now living in the world of information and
communication technology. In this digital age, computers can be seen populating everywhere. Eighty
percent of computer data are processed and stored in English Scientists have found out that five
thousand newspapers more than half of the newspapers published in the world are published in
English. Even in many countries where English is a minority language there is still at least one
newspaper in English. It has become the language of international affairs and international
correspondence. It has become a language of International commerce and trade, a language of status
and symbol. English is window to world. “English has been widely accepted as the most widespread
language in the world.”. By the end of 20th century English began to emerge as a global. It has a great
acceptance at social, economic and political levels. The outlook behind the usage of English has been
changing significantly. In our country middle class is also not keeping itself in isolation by neglecting the
importance of English. In view of the growing importance of English as a tool for global communication
and the consequent emphasis on training students to acquire communication skills. No one can get
mastery over communication skills in a day or two. It is an academic imbroglio for the students lacking
in effective communicative skills. English language communication is the most common problem faced
by students. Most students are not “industry ready” because they lack communication skills. There is
no effective communication between the faculty-student and student-student. No effective training is
imparted to the students who are very poor at communication. Much importance is being given to the
technical skills ignoring the most indispensable communication skills. To perform effectively in the
business world or organization, communication plays a pivotal role. One who is good at effective
communication thinks soundly, enjoys self-esteem, dignity and gets respect in society, academic or
profession. People with effective communication skills are more confident, because they know that
they can tell other people exactly what they need. In order to communicate effectively one has to think
ahead and organize one’s thoughts. In order to have the technical know-how and other related skills
should learn to develop the competence in application of English language. In every walk of life,
language that we use for communication is very important. If we don’t have an effective language, the
works which we take up remains dull and cheerless. Among all the modern languages, English claims
to be the first-rate language. It is because all international communications are carried out in English.
English is taught as a tool for international understanding. By learning this language, one can overcome
one’s prejudices, fanaticism, intolerance and narrow mindedness and contributes one’s share to
promote international understanding. Employability refers to a person’s capability of gaining initial
employment maintaining employment, and obtaining new employment if required (Hillage and Pollare,
1998). It depends on knowledge, skills and attitude the employer seeks. In order to be employable, it is
important to understand the needs of the market place and identify what skills you already have and
what skills you need to include in your career plan. In a list of skills and attributes identified by
companies that belong to National Association of Career Educators and Employment (NACE)
communication skills holds the first position. It’s mandatory to have effective English invariable of the
sector and industry. The National Curriculum Frame Work 2005 has underlined the importance of
English with sole objective of developing the ability to communicate through English.
Communication is the central human activity. We are now witnessing the emergence of an advanced
economy based on information and knowledge. Probably the most important skill for knowledge
workers in the new environment is ability to communicate. This means to able to listen and to express
your ideas effectively in writing and in speech. In order to achieve desired success, professional needs
to assess and respond to communication situations that occur constantly. The four main goals of
communication are
1.To inform
2.To request
3.To persuade and
4.To build relationships with others

A Picture Story
Waterfalls inspire adventure travel. If there is agreement among adrenaline
junkies, adventure travelers, easy hikers, fanny-pack touting tourists, workaholics, and
even couch potatoes it is everyone loves a waterfall. I have never heard anyone say
“waterfalls suck,” or “I hate waterfalls.” Even something as popular as Christmas has its
critics. There is no such comparable beauty on earth when it comes to the combination
of water, gravity, and rocks.
If only a waterfall could run for office. It would achieve 100% approval rating and could
possibly secure world peace. The only problem is that a waterfall could not sit in at
cabinet meetings nor travel to world summits. Leaders would have to come to the
waterfall in order to meet with it if a country was ever sage enough to elect one as its
president. When leaders would come, they would be so pacified by the beauty of the
natural wonder that they would agree to anything it said, which is nothing because a
waterfall cannot talk. They manage to say as much, nothing, as many politicians do who
speak a lot.
I have not been many of the world’s most famous waterfalls. I did visit Dudhsagar
Waterfall – Goa, but I was in college and did not bring a camera. I have never been to
Iguazu Falls, or Niagara, but I have been to a lot of mid-range waterfalls and enjoyed
them even though they are not as impressive as the world’s greats. There is something
soothing about cascading water and even a rapid is fun to watch. spectacular sight it is
to see water gushing from unbelievable heights into the valleys. The pleasant bickering,
the pristine water and the lush verdant rolling slopes make for the most gorgeous jaw-
dropping sites across the world. Waterfalls are indeed magical and a blessing to
mankind by mother nature. The falls are a sight to behold especially if you go there in
the monsoons, when the fall is in full flow. Water falling down from a height forms
clouds of milky foam at the bottom, creating a visual of aesthetic beauty. Set amidst the
crescent shaped valley carpeted with lush green flora. I feel very calm and rejuvenated
when I visit one such.
Connecting the Dots…
"Enjoying a cup of tea while sitting on my balcony on a Sunday morning, suddenly I
felt a deep pain in my chest. I thought that this was the last moment of my life. I
wanted to call my daughter, my husband and everybody to say the final Good Bye, but
couldn't do so." I was all about to lose my hopes and then I had my head spinning a bit. I
had a story card flashing in my mind, my whole life I was able to see going through
Infront of my eyes. I got tensed and had to pass a goodbye to my family. So, I take a
camera and started recording to say goodbye to my family. “Hello everyone I have no
too much time left so I finish it quickly. I am going too far from my life so want to say
good bye everyone. I know it's very quickly to go but what can I do. I want to spend my
last time to everyone but I am alone in this time. There for I make my video. Good bye
everyone and take care of you."
An unforgettable dream
One day that I will never forget, was the day I woke up with tears on my face I
was very tired and get to bed early. That day, I had just gotten back from school and was
lying on the sofa watching TV, my little sister was in bathroom having a shower, my
mum was in the kitchen preparing dinner. My dad was still at work. Suddenly, our house
started shaking violently as if it were a small wooden boat being tossed by giant waves
in the ocean. At first, none of us realized what was happening. Then my mum yelled,
Earthquake! Get under something! I was too stunned to move but the shaking was so
strong that I soon fell off the sofa onto the floor. I half rolled, half crawled across the
floor to the dining table and got under it. My mum was sitting on the floor in the
kitchen, holding her arms over her head to protect it from falling dishes. She yelled at
my little sister, she wanted to be with us. The earthquake lasted less than a minute, but
it seemed like a year for me. At last, the shaking stopped. For a minute or two, we were
too scared to move. I was crying my mum cautiously got up and went to help my little
sister, who was crying too. There was no electricity. Next, we checked the house for
damage, it was horrible. We started worrying about my dad. My mum tried to call him
at work, but the phone lines were busy. Two hours later my dad still doesn’t arrived
home. We were so worried about him. Then I started to cry very hard and yelled for my
dad, and woke up. When I realized that it’s just a dream, I was so happy. Whenever you
got to sleep you dream something, but some of them could be unforgettable some of
them you even don’t remember. You can dream everything but you need to know that
is just a dream and as it says” Dreams never come true„

quitted his banking career in 2009.
What is 2 States about: -
It is the story about a couple coming from two different states in India. They face
hardships in convincing their parents to approve of their marriage. This story focuses on the
love story of a Tamil girl, Ananya, and a Punjabi boy, Krish. This is the second Chetan Bhagat
book based largely on his life. Krish Malhotra, a fresh Engineer from IIT Delhi, now a student
pursuing his MBA at the IIM Ahmedabad, Gujarat, comes from a troubled, rich family of Punjabi
heritage. He meets his classmate Ananya Swaminathan, economics topper in her college, who
comes from a conservative Tamil Brahmin family. Krish and Ananya, initially quarrel, but soon
become friends and start studying together. Soon they begin dating, and stay together for their
next 22 months on the IIM campus. Krish confides in Ananya that his real passion is writing,
which he wants to pursue a career in. They both have become close to each other and fall for
each other during the stay in IIM. Krish gets selected in the campus drives for Yes Bank. He
immediately rushes to the next room and proposes to Ananya, in the middle of her interview.
She accepts and then gets selected for SUNSILK.
Plot: -
The plot is basically Punjabi-Tamilian warfront.
Bollywood masala is the flavor for the book but still enjoyable. Krish (Punjabi by birth)
and Ananya (Tamilian) both fall for each other while completing their MBA from IIM. After a no
problem love story of two years, a major problem is to be confronted-PARENTS.
As we all know for all north Indians, south Indians are madrasis & for all south Indians,
north Indians are illiterates. Anyways Krish attempts his best to get the marriage proposal
accepted by, not Ananya but her parents. Ananya on the other hand does all sort of things to
get absorbed into Krish's family. Ultimately what happens we all know. No marks for guessing.
But if you are a north-Indian in south or a south-Indian in north, you will connect to the story
and will certainly enjoy. Most of the situations are the one which can be found in real life. This
book actually tells you the thinking of Indians staying in India but still apart, still not accepting
different cultures in the same country. Some moments can really leave you giggling and smiling
for sure.
Character Description: -
Two main characters of the novel are Krish Malhotra, a north Indian Punjabi boy and
Ananya Swaminathan, a Tamilian Brahmin girl. Ananya, who is from an economics background,
is the most talked about girl at the campus of IIM Ahmadabad, whereas Krish is an IIT graduate.
Soon they become good friends and their friendship turns into love and they start to live
together. After the course both of them get job in the companies they have wished. Then Krish
proposes to Ananya for marriage. While both of them were ready but not their families as,
being from different states opposition from the respective families is obvious in India. Both of
them irrespective of their own state and caste specific culture are not stereotyped. They are
liberal in their thoughts. In spite of all this, they pick to convince their parents and take turn to
win each other’s families. For this, Krish asks his company for his placement in Chennai just to
remain close to Ananya’s family. Finally, Krish manages to convince them. Then he takes
Ananya with him to meet his mother. Except for Krish’s father rest of the family accepted her
after an incident in which Ananya saves the marriage of Krish’s cousin. Krish has a very troubled
relationship with his father so he tries to ignore him. Again, due to cultural difference the
marriage is called off and with this Krish goes into depression. Finally, Krish’s father convinces
everyone for the marriage and they both get married and are blessed with twins.
Synopsis: -
The book very cleverly begins with the protagonist of the story - a Punjabi boy called
Krish Malhotra, in a shrink's office, doing a class Devdas act, trying desperately to come to
terms with the apparent loss of the love of his life- a Tamilian Brahmin girl called Ananya
Swaminathan. It then goes into flashback mode, where the love story begins "where all love
stories begin"- with Krish and Ananya meeting for the very first time at the mess counter of the
IIMA, where they both are fellow student-each with ambitions of their own and the ambitions
driven by their own reasons.
Krish, who shares a horribly impaired relationship with his father, also has to deal with
an overprotective overzealous mother, who wants him to marry the first Punjabi girl that comes
his way, strapped with a fleet of cars, house and money as dowry. The Malhotra family is as
dysfunctional as any family can get, with Mr. and Mrs. Malhotra on non-speaking terms, Mr.
Malhotra with a fiery temper and unhindered rage and Mrs. Malhotra's large numbers of
interfering relatives.
The vivacious and bold Ananya on the other hand, comes from a typical conventional,
well-educated and education hungry Tamilian Brahmin family in Chennai, completely
contrasting to her rebellious, outgoing, personality. Born to a quiet, reserved father, she is
closest to him, while she and her mother share a frustrating albeit interesting relationship. She
also has a bookworm of a sibling, whose only aim in life seems to be to become more of a
bookworm and possibly graduate from the top-ranking institutions in the country.
Amidst tumultuous family issues, irate professors, truckloads of study material and
raging hormones, the two meets, fall in love over many conversations, study lectures, chicken
and lots of chai. As they graduate and accept their respective placements, their relationship
progresses to one of complete commitment but corresponding non-acceptance from the
respective families.
Bhagat then plunges into knitting and weaving his way through their respective lives and
the various attempts they both make to please the other's family. After lots of emotional
upheavals and a breakup, he wonderfully gives the story a turn that I definitely wasn't
expecting. Suffice it to say, the novel ends in a happy Tamil-Punjabi marriage-a freakish North
meets South scenario, which brings a warm feeling to the heart and a smile to the face.
As an author, Chetan Bhagat has taken risks with some language that may not go well
with the oldies, but then the book is aimed at the youth of India anyways. And they relate to
him. He has fast become a youth icon and his attempts to bring about a change in the narrow
mindset among our people, his entreating to young Indians to marry outside their caste to
promote the feeling of Indian-ness and not be bound to one's own caste, promises some very
positive change in the country. Based on his own life, his sarcasms about the Punjabi and Tamil
communities, as well as his own parents, in-laws and Yes bank. But this is the very reason for
the original story which has a genuine, honest touch to it. That is something every reader
appreciates.
With this Chetan Ends like, Krish up in a hospital for Ananya’s delivery, astonishingly
they end up having twins, which goes up like Ananya saying ...
‘Twins?’ she said in disbelief, looking ready to faint.
‘Yes,’ the doctor said. ‘Congratulations.’
The nurse cleaned up the two babies and gave them to me.
‘Be careful,’ she said as I took one in each arm.
‘You are from two different states, right? So, what will be their state?’ the nurse
said
and chuckled.
‘They’ll be from a state called India,’ I said............
7. EL - Lectures by Eminent People, Expert Lectures
Transforming setbacks to a path of success, keep on trying until we success, get mentorship and
guidance. there’s one thing you can count on as an entrepreneur, it’s that you’re inevitably going
to experience not one but several setbacks on the journey. What if you had the tools to face those
setbacks with a new mindset and come out the other side with the lesson to add to your
entrepreneurial book of wisdom?
A favorite Dan Sullivan quote about obstacles, setbacks, or failures that can apply to business or
life is, “You either win or you learn. if you want to be successful, there’s no other option.”
When you face a setback with that mindset, you go into it knowing that there’s no failure as
long as you take away the lesson. So, if you’re smart, that’s exactly what you’ll do—learn from your
mistakes—just like Michael Reddy did early in his career when he experienced his first shocking
setback, and has done ever since. In fact, he made a business out of it.
“You either win or you learn. if you want to be successful, there’s no other option.” Dan Sullivan
The ultimate transformer.
How to stare setbacks square in the eyes, figure out how to solve the problem—and
take away from the experience a lesson for life.
Even more impressive is that he developed a highly successful business helping other
entrepreneurs who are “stuck” break through, transform whatever obstacle is holding them back,
and go on to greater success.
8. INNO - Innovations
Solar roads are created using photovoltaic cells installed into road systems. The
idea behind these projects is to be able to melt snow, power street lights and even
eliminate the need to paint white or yellow lines on asphalt. In the United States of
America, there have been many proposed plans for the use of solar roads including the
Solar Roadways’ Route 66 experiment; however, none of them has come to fruition.
This is mainly due to the benefits of the technology not outweighing the disadvantages.
The roads are not thought to be practical due to the high costs and safety concerns.
However, in China, a kilometre-long solar road has been built. Unfortunately, the
road does not generate enough electricity to validate the $450 USD per square foot
price tag. It is known that solar power can power an entire country, but it is still not a
viable option for a large-scale road system. Although, if prices continue to drop, it
should not be too long before there are low-cost solar cells on the market.
Currently, the investigation into solar roads are still ongoing but have yet to
make much progress. Until manufacturing costs become lower, it is highly unlikely that
we will be seeing solar roads being implemented in cities soon.
In today’s time, as online payments are becoming more and more popular
means of transactions, online payment gateways have become increasingly important.
Payment gateways successfully provide end-to-end solutions for seamless customer
experience. They are the key medium to help merchants receive card payments in both
card present and card not-present transaction situations. For increasing the value-added
services, payment gateways have integrated front-end services of newly available
banking platforms.
Besides, Digital India Initiative has played a crucial role in making Payment
Gateways become such an integral part of society. With this initiative, several other
related sectors like Machine Learning, AI, telecom, software industry are getting the
push rapidly ever since demonetization. Over a period, payment gateways have become
extremely imperative for every e-commerce platform online. Since, in today’s time,
e-commerce platforms are on the rise in India, payment gateways have become vital for
the country.

  • 3. 1. PA – Physical Activity Yoga Sessions: In the first part, importance of yoga and benefits of doing yoga regularly were discussed. In the second part, a sequence of yoga asana and pranayama was discussed. It mainly covered following asanas and pranayama. Warm up exercise and Surya namaskar. Sitting asanas: vajrasana, shashank asana, vakrasana, padpaschimottan asana. Standing asanas: vriksh asana, pad hast asana, tad asana, ardha chakrasana. Lying asanas: hala sana, sarvang asana, dhanurasananauk asana, shav asana. Pranayama: Anulom vilom, Kapalbhati, Bhastrika. In the third session, meditation and relaxation was practiced to attain peace of mind. Brief introduction: Yoga came to the attention of an educated western public in the mid-19th century along with other topics of Indian philosophy. In the context of this budding interest, N.C. Paul published his Treatise on Yoga Philosophy in 1851. Yoga as exercise is a physical activity consisting largely of asanas, often connected by flowing sequences called vinyasas, sometimes accompanied by the breathing exercises of pranayama, and usually ending with a period of relaxation or meditation. It is often known simply as yoga, despite the existence of multiple older traditions of yoga within Hinduism where asanas played little or no part, some dating back to the Yoga Sutras, and despite the fact that in no tradition was the practice of asanas central. The first Hindu teacher to actively advocate and disseminate aspects of yoga, not including asanas, to a western audience, Swami Vivekananda, toured Europe and the United States in the 1890s. The reception which Swami Vivekananda received built on the active interest of intellectuals, in particular the New England Transcendentalists, among them Ralph Waldo Emerson, who drew on German Romanticism and philosophers and scholars like G. W. F. Hegel, the brothers August Wilhelm Schlegel and Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Schlegel, Max Mueller, Arthur Schopenhauer, and others who had interests in things Indian. In early Buddhism, various yogic practices were taught including: THE FOUR DHYĀNAS THE FOUR SATIPATTHANAS ANAPANASATI THE FOUR IMMATERIAL DWELLINGS THE BRAHMAVIHĀRĀS ANUSSATI Also, we had some good learning about having an open mentality a mindset. With the proper guidance of our teachers, we had developed many skills like “Thinking out of the box”. With interactive session conducted we were able to interact with our class mates and also got to know their views about the concerned topic.

  • 5. 2. CA – Creative Arts Poetry Session We learned about Poetry’s, Poets. We also discussed some of their great works. Develop creativity and imagination through a range of complex activities. Poetry (derived from the Greek poesies, "making") is a form of literature that uses aesthetic and often rhythmic qualities of language—such as phonesthetics, sound symbolism, and meter—to evoke meanings in addition to, or in place of, the prosaic ostensible meaning. Indian poetry and Indian literature in general, has a long history dating back to Vedic times. They were written in various Indian languages such as Vedic Sanskrit, Classical Sanskrit, Tamil, Odia, Maithili, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese, Urdu, and Hindi. Poetry in foreign languages such as Persian and English also has a strong influence on Indian poetry. The poetry reflects diverse spiritual traditions within India. In particular, many Indian poets have been inspired by mystical experiences. Poetry is the oldest form of literature and has a rich written and oral tradition. Art and Painting Session Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface (called the "matrix" or "support"). The medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush, but other implements, such as knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be used. In art, the term painting describes both the act and the result of the action (the final work is called "a painting"). The support for paintings includes such surfaces as walls, paper, canvas, wood, glass, lacquer, pottery, leaf, copper and concrete, and the painting may incorporate multiple other materials, including sand, clay, paper, plaster, gold leaf, and even whole objects. Painting is an important form in the visual arts, bringing in elements such as drawing, composition, gesture (as in gestural painting), narration (as in narrative art), and abstraction (as in abstract art). Paintings can be naturalistic and representational (as in still life and landscape painting), photographic, abstract, narrative, symbolistic (as in Symbolist art), emotive (as in Expressionism), and/or political in nature (as in Archivism). Music Music is an art form, and a cultural activity, whose medium is sound. General definitions of music include common elements such as pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness),
  • 6. and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping; there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces (such as songs without instrumental accompaniment) and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses"). In its most general form, the activities describing music as an art form or cultural activity include the creation of works of music (songs, tunes, symphonies, and so on), the criticism of music, the study of the history of music, and the aesthetic examination of music. Ancient Greek and Indian philosophers defined music in two parts: melodies, as tones ordered horizontally, and harmonies as tones ordered vertically. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound." Zendala Art Zendalas are a combination of the Zentangle art form and Mandalas. it is the art that leads to meditation and spiritual connection. It's a doodling in a circle, repeating some patterns, but there is no right or wrong way to draw a Zendala. Zentangle is a process of doodling in a meditative state with “tangles” & repeated patterns to design a space. It's easy to learn and easy to do. Zentangle is the art form that is fun and relaxing. Mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. Making a mandala teaches us patience. The practice of concentrating and reproducing detailed patterns causes the mind to slow down. Discover the Hidden Artist in you! Many people don’t think of themselves as creative, but everyone is creative in some way.

  • 10. 3. UHV - Universal Human Values Holistic development and Eternal happiness We learned about Holistic development and Eternal happiness and got a general idea about Sankar also Imparted universal human values in students. Enable us to live in harmony within ourselves, with family, with society and the nature. Initiated the process of self-exploration and self-investigation within ourselves about their understanding of happiness. An idea about how to maintain relationship, Which kind of relationship and acceptance give happiness to us was imparted in us. The needs of the Body cannot be fulfilled by Right Understanding, Right Feelings alone. The needs of the Self cannot be fulfilled by Physio-Chemical Things. Both type of needs has to be understood separately. Both type of needs has to be fulfilled separately. Human beings need time and quantity which is fulfilled by Right Understanding & Right Feeling. KNOWING To see the reality as it is, in its completeness, by direct observation. It is definite, has continuity & universality ASSUMING Acceptance of the reality (acceptance can be on the basis of knowing or even without knowing). RECOGNISING The relationship (with human being and with rest of nature) FULFILLING The relationship (with human being and with rest of nature) Existence is in the form of co-existence. It is ever present (Existence = Co- Existence = Units submerged in Space) Every unit in existence is related with every other unit in existence in a mutually fulfilling manner Synergy is intrinsic to existence, harmony is inherent in existence – we do not have to create it, we do not have to construct it The role of Human Being is to realize this co-existence, this harmony, this order in existence – For this, all that human beings need to do is: To understand the inherent harmony, the co-existence in existence
  • 11. To live accordingly – to live with the feeling of harmony or co-existence (and there is every provision in existence for living in co-existence) Human Being is co-existence of Self and Body The Self is central to human existence; Body is an instrument of the Self The transaction between Self and Body is only in the form of information Physical Facility is required, in a limited quantity, for Nurturing, Protection & Right Utilization of the Body Prosperity = Feeling of having / producing more than required physical facility Identification of required physical facility (including the required quantity) – with right understanding Ensuring availability/ production of more than required physical facility – with right skills The Self and the Body are in Harmony when there is a feeling of Self-regulation in the Self and Health in the Body Self-regulation = Feeling of responsibility toward the body – for Nurturing, Protection and Right Utilization of the Body Health = The body acts according to Self and parts of the body are in harmony (in order)

  • 15. 5. LIT M- Literary Math’s Mathematics has always been a tough subject to study and the students are always struggling with a fear factor associated with mathematics. Although practice makes a man perfect hold truth in many typical tasks it also holds true for study as well. Mathematics has been too complicated for majority of students. But mathematics as primary subject in core and new engineering course is compulsory in world-wide engineering education. In engineering there are several branches such as computer science engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and civil engineering and each branch has different study set focused on the significance of mathematics. The differential equations in mathematics find importance in electrical engineering for solving circuit equations. There is another subject in electrical engineering related to electromagnetic theory which involve mathematical concepts on calculus, and building sound knowledge-base on learning triple integrals and integration over a closed surface. Mathematical linear algebra is inter connected with the electrical engineering concepts of circuit theory and signal processing. Engineering students has an advantage over mathematics to grasp basic to advanced difficult concepts in core electrical engineering subjects. In engineering, students learn all about extensive use of Laplace and Fourier transforms equations which is related to linear algebra in circuit theory and signal processing. Mathematical complex number algebra find maximum use in solutions of sinusoidal excited circuits (AC) equations and Power system load flow problems.

  • 18. 6. PM - Proficiency Modules The induction program period can be used to overcome some critical lacunas that students might have, for example, English, computer familiarity etc. These should run like crash courses, so that when normal courses start after the induction program, the student has overcome the lacunas substantially. We hope that problems arising due to lack of English skills, wherein students start lagging behind or failing in several subjects, for no fault of theirs, would, hopefully, become a thing of the past. Exercise: 1. A write up on "Importance of English Language in Engineering". 2. A list of 15 Idioms with its meanings and frame sentences using those idioms and fill in the blanks given in the PPT slide. 3. Write a picture story as well as connecting the dots-A story mentioned in the PPT slide. 4. Write a note on any of the motivational/patriotic/inspired web series. 5. Write a Paragraph on "An unforgettable dream".
  • 19. Importance of English Language in Engineering English is acknowledged passport to better education and employment opportunities. English language plays a crucial role to weave the world into a single thread. English has a status of a second language in almost all the countries where it is not the first language. To acquire simple language for day to day communication is main aim of learning any language. In turn, today’s workforce is expected to be highly competent to continually improve skills and engage in lifelong learning. Language is a skill, like any other skill until and unless we practice the skill mastery is highly impossible. The aim of learning a language is directly linked with the LSRW skills that are to be developed. As a universal process communication influence the activities of the human community at large. Social development is a prominent feature of effective techniques of communication, which is necessary for sustaining the growth and development. The need for learning a language arises from the point of view of its adaptability, productivity, utility, universality and teachability. Communication is a sharing of feelings, ideas and opinions with others. This can be intellectual, personnel spoken or written in nature. We live in groups and man is invariably a social animal. As the social needs insist, we share our thoughts with others. The two-way processes of communication motivate, inform, suggests, warns, orders, changing behavior and establish better relationships to make interaction meaningful and make oneself understood. Communication becomes effective when a communicator is effective enough to communicate competently, simply, clearly sincerely and dynamically. Communication is essential for close sympathetic relationships in a society and for transformation of men, material and thoughts from one place to another. This process involves initiation reception and response that serve as feedback. Hence, communication is interactive by nature. Today the compulsions of learning English are no longer merely political but scientific and technological. And no longer is English language of Great Britain only; it is the language required by the world for greater understanding; it is the most international of languages. English has become a global language a connecting link, a language of modern science and technologies, a language of latest sciences, like information technology and space science, a language of all competitive examinations-be they the state level, national level or international level. Whether we realize it or not we are now living in the world of information and communication technology. In this digital age, computers can be seen populating everywhere. Eighty percent of computer data are processed and stored in English Scientists have found out that five thousand newspapers more than half of the newspapers published in the world are published in English. Even in many countries where English is a minority language there is still at least one newspaper in English. It has become the language of international affairs and international correspondence. It has become a language of International commerce and trade, a language of status and symbol. English is window to world. “English has been widely accepted as the most widespread language in the world.”. By the end of 20th century English began to emerge as a global. It has a great acceptance at social, economic and political levels. The outlook behind the usage of English has been changing significantly. In our country middle class is also not keeping itself in isolation by neglecting the importance of English. In view of the growing importance of English as a tool for global communication and the consequent emphasis on training students to acquire communication skills. No one can get
  • 20. mastery over communication skills in a day or two. It is an academic imbroglio for the students lacking in effective communicative skills. English language communication is the most common problem faced by students. Most students are not “industry ready” because they lack communication skills. There is no effective communication between the faculty-student and student-student. No effective training is imparted to the students who are very poor at communication. Much importance is being given to the technical skills ignoring the most indispensable communication skills. To perform effectively in the business world or organization, communication plays a pivotal role. One who is good at effective communication thinks soundly, enjoys self-esteem, dignity and gets respect in society, academic or profession. People with effective communication skills are more confident, because they know that they can tell other people exactly what they need. In order to communicate effectively one has to think ahead and organize one’s thoughts. In order to have the technical know-how and other related skills should learn to develop the competence in application of English language. In every walk of life, language that we use for communication is very important. If we don’t have an effective language, the works which we take up remains dull and cheerless. Among all the modern languages, English claims to be the first-rate language. It is because all international communications are carried out in English. English is taught as a tool for international understanding. By learning this language, one can overcome one’s prejudices, fanaticism, intolerance and narrow mindedness and contributes one’s share to promote international understanding. Employability refers to a person’s capability of gaining initial employment maintaining employment, and obtaining new employment if required (Hillage and Pollare, 1998). It depends on knowledge, skills and attitude the employer seeks. In order to be employable, it is important to understand the needs of the market place and identify what skills you already have and what skills you need to include in your career plan. In a list of skills and attributes identified by companies that belong to National Association of Career Educators and Employment (NACE) communication skills holds the first position. It’s mandatory to have effective English invariable of the sector and industry. The National Curriculum Frame Work 2005 has underlined the importance of English with sole objective of developing the ability to communicate through English. Communication is the central human activity. We are now witnessing the emergence of an advanced economy based on information and knowledge. Probably the most important skill for knowledge workers in the new environment is ability to communicate. This means to able to listen and to express your ideas effectively in writing and in speech. In order to achieve desired success, professional needs to assess and respond to communication situations that occur constantly. The four main goals of communication are 1.To inform 2.To request 3.To persuade and 4.To build relationships with others

  • 24. A Picture Story Waterfalls inspire adventure travel. If there is agreement among adrenaline junkies, adventure travelers, easy hikers, fanny-pack touting tourists, workaholics, and even couch potatoes it is everyone loves a waterfall. I have never heard anyone say “waterfalls suck,” or “I hate waterfalls.” Even something as popular as Christmas has its critics. There is no such comparable beauty on earth when it comes to the combination of water, gravity, and rocks. If only a waterfall could run for office. It would achieve 100% approval rating and could possibly secure world peace. The only problem is that a waterfall could not sit in at cabinet meetings nor travel to world summits. Leaders would have to come to the waterfall in order to meet with it if a country was ever sage enough to elect one as its president. When leaders would come, they would be so pacified by the beauty of the natural wonder that they would agree to anything it said, which is nothing because a waterfall cannot talk. They manage to say as much, nothing, as many politicians do who speak a lot. I have not been many of the world’s most famous waterfalls. I did visit Dudhsagar Waterfall – Goa, but I was in college and did not bring a camera. I have never been to Iguazu Falls, or Niagara, but I have been to a lot of mid-range waterfalls and enjoyed

The pleasant bickering, the pristine water and the lush verdant rolling slopes make for the most gorgeous jaw- dropping sites across the world. Waterfalls are indeed magical and a blessing to mankind by mother nature. The falls are a sight to behold especially if you go there in the monsoons, when the fall is in full flow. Water falling down from a height forms clouds of milky foam at the bottom, creating a visual of aesthetic beauty. Set amidst the crescent shaped valley carpeted with lush green flora. • 26. Connecting the Dots… "Enjoying a cup of tea while sitting on my balcony on a Sunday morning, suddenly I felt a deep pain in my chest. I thought that this was the last moment of my life. I wanted to call my daughter, my husband and everybody to say the final Good Bye, but couldn't do so." I was all about to lose my hopes and then I had my head spinning a bit. I had a story card flashing in my mind, my whole life I was able to see going through Infront of my eyes. I got tensed and had to pass a goodbye to my family. So, I take a camera and started recording to say goodbye to my family. “Hello everyone I have no too much time left so I finish it quickly. I am going too far from my life so want to say good bye everyone. I know it's very quickly to go but what can I do. I want to spend my last time to everyone but I am alone in this time. There for I make my video. Good bye everyone and take care of you."
  • 27. An unforgettable dream One day that I will never forget, was the day I woke up with tears on my face I was very tired and get to bed early. That day, I had just gotten back from school and was lying on the sofa watching TV, my little sister was in bathroom having a shower, my mum was in the kitchen preparing dinner. My dad was still at work. Suddenly, our house started shaking violently as if it were a small wooden boat being tossed by giant waves in the ocean. At first, none of us realized what was happening. Then my mum yelled, Earthquake! Get under something! I was too stunned to move but the shaking was so strong that I soon fell off the sofa onto the floor. I half rolled, half crawled across the floor to the dining table and got under it. My mum was sitting on the floor in the kitchen, holding her arms over her head to protect it from falling dishes. She yelled at my little sister, she wanted to be with us. The earthquake lasted less than a minute, but it seemed like a year for me. At last, the shaking stopped. For a minute or two, we were too scared to move. I was crying my mum cautiously got up and went to help my little sister, who was crying too. There was no electricity. Next, we checked the house for damage, it was horrible. We started worrying about my dad. My mum tried to call him at work, but the phone lines were busy. Two hours later my dad still doesn’t arrived home. We were so worried about him. Then I started to cry very hard and yelled for my dad, and woke up. When I realized that it’s just a dream, I was so happy. Whenever you got to sleep you dream something, but some of them could be unforgettable some of them you even don’t remember. • 29. book based largely on his life. Krish Malhotra, a fresh Engineer from IIT Delhi, now a student pursuing his MBA at the IIM Ahmedabad, Gujarat, comes from a troubled, rich family of Punjabi heritage. He meets his classmate Ananya Swaminathan, economics topper in her college, who comes from a conservative Tamil Brahmin family. Krish and Ananya, initially quarrel, but soon become friends and start studying together. Soon they begin dating, and stay together for their next 22 months on the IIM campus. Krish confides in Ananya that his real passion is writing, which he wants to pursue a career in. They both have become close to each other and fall for each other during the stay in IIM. Krish gets selected in the campus drives for Yes Bank. He immediately rushes to the next room and proposes to Ananya, in the middle of her interview. She accepts and then gets selected for SUNSILK. Plot: - The plot is basically Punjabi-Tamilian warfront. Bollywood masala is the flavor for the book but still enjoyable. Krish (Punjabi by birth) and Ananya (Tamilian) both fall for each other while completing their MBA from IIM. After a no problem love story of two years, a major problem is to be confronted-PARENTS. As we all know for all north Indians, south Indians are madrasis & for all south Indians, north Indians are illiterates. Anyways Krish attempts his best to get the marriage proposal accepted by, not Ananya but her parents. Ananya on the other hand does all sort of things to get absorbed into Krish's family. Ultimately what happens we all know. No marks for guessing. But if you are a north-Indian in south or a south-Indian in north, you will connect to the story and will certainly enjoy. Most of the situations are the one which can be found in real life. This book actually tells you the thinking of Indians staying in India but still apart, still not accepting different cultures in the same country. Some moments can really leave you giggling and smiling for sure. Character Description: - Two main characters of the novel are Krish Malhotra, a north Indian Punjabi boy and Ananya Swaminathan, a Tamilian Brahmin girl. Ananya, who is from an economics background, is the most talked about girl at the campus of IIM Ahmadabad, whereas Krish is an IIT graduate. Soon they become good friends and their friendship turns into love and they start to live together. After the course both of them get job in the companies they have wished. Then Krish proposes to Ananya for marriage. While both of them were ready but not their families as, being from different states opposition from the respective families is obvious in India. Both of them irrespective of their own state and caste specific culture are not stereotyped. They are liberal in their thoughts. In spite of all this, they pick to convince their parents and take turn to win each other’s families. For this, Krish asks his company for his placement in Chennai just to remain close to Ananya’s family. Finally, Krish manages to convince them. Then he takes Ananya with him to meet his mother. Except for Krish’s father rest of the family accepted her after an incident in which Ananya saves the marriage of Krish’s cousin. Krish has a very troubled
  • 30. relationship with his father so he tries to ignore him. Again, due to cultural difference the marriage is called off and with this Krish goes into depression. Finally, Krish’s father convinces everyone for the marriage and they both get married and are blessed with twins. Synopsis: - The book very cleverly begins with the protagonist of the story - a Punjabi boy called Krish Malhotra, in a shrink's office, doing a class Devdas act, trying desperately to come to terms with the apparent loss of the love of his life- a Tamilian Brahmin girl called Ananya Swaminathan. It then goes into flashback mode, where the love story begins "where all love stories begin"- with Krish and Ananya meeting for the very first time at the mess counter of the IIMA, where they both are fellow student-each with ambitions of their own and the ambitions driven by their own reasons. Krish, who shares a horribly impaired relationship with his father, also has to deal with an overprotective overzealous mother, who wants him to marry the first Punjabi girl that comes his way, strapped with a fleet of cars, house and money as dowry. The Malhotra family is as dysfunctional as any family can get, with Mr. and Mrs. Malhotra on non-speaking terms, Mr. Malhotra with a fiery temper and unhindered rage and Mrs. Malhotra's large numbers of interfering relatives. The vivacious and bold Ananya on the other hand, comes from a typical conventional, well-educated and education hungry Tamilian Brahmin family in Chennai, completely contrasting to her rebellious, outgoing, personality. Born to a quiet, reserved father, she is closest to him, while she and her mother share a frustrating albeit interesting relationship. She also has a bookworm of a sibling, whose only aim in life seems to be to become more of a bookworm and possibly graduate from the top-ranking institutions in the country. Amidst tumultuous family issues, irate professors, truckloads of study material and raging hormones, the two meets, fall in love over many conversations, study lectures, chicken and lots of chai. As they graduate and accept their respective placements, their relationship progresses to one of complete commitment but corresponding non-acceptance from the respective families. Bhagat then plunges into knitting and weaving his way through their respective lives and the various attempts they both make to please the other's family. After lots of emotional upheavals and a breakup, he wonderfully gives the story a turn that I definitely wasn't expecting. Suffice it to say, the novel ends in a happy Tamil-Punjabi marriage-a freakish North meets South scenario, which brings a warm feeling to the heart and a smile to the face. As an author, Chetan Bhagat has taken risks with some language that may not go well with the oldies, but then the book is aimed at the youth of India anyways. And they relate to
  • 31. him. He has fast become a youth icon and his attempts to bring about a change in the narrow mindset among our people, his entreating to young Indians to marry outside their caste to promote the feeling of Indian-ness and not be bound to one's own caste, promises some very positive change in the country. Based on his own life, his sarcasms about the Punjabi and Tamil communities, as well as his own parents, in-laws and Yes bank. But this is the very reason for the original story which has a genuine, honest touch to it. That is something every reader appreciates. With this Chetan Ends like, Krish up in a hospital for Ananya’s delivery, astonishingly they end up having twins, which goes up like Ananya saying ... ‘Twins?’ she said in disbelief, looking ready to faint. ‘Yes,’ the doctor said. ‘Congratulations.’ The nurse cleaned up the two babies and gave them to me. ‘Be careful,’ she said as I took one in each arm. ‘You are from two different states, right? So, what will be their state?’ the nurse said and chuckled. ‘They’ll be from a state called India,’ I said............

EL - Lectures by Eminent People, Expert Lectures Transforming setbacks to a path of success, keep on trying until we success, get mentorship and guidance. there’s one thing you can count on as an entrepreneur, it’s that you’re inevitably going to experience not one but several setbacks on the journey. What if you had the tools to face those setbacks with a new mindset and come out the other side with the lesson to add to your entrepreneurial book of wisdom? A favorite Dan Sullivan quote about obstacles, setbacks, or failures that can apply to business or life is, “You either win or you learn. if you want to be successful, there’s no other option.” When you face a setback with that mindset, you go into it knowing that there’s no failure as long as you take away the lesson. So, if you’re smart, that’s exactly what you’ll do—learn from your mistakes—just like Michael Reddy did early in his career when he experienced his first shocking setback, and has done ever since. In fact, he made a business out of it. “You either win or you learn. if you want to be successful, there’s no other option.” Dan Sullivan The ultimate transformer. How to stare setbacks square in the eyes, figure out how to solve the problem—and take away from the experience a lesson for life. Even more impressive is that he developed a highly successful business helping other entrepreneurs who are “stuck” break through, transform whatever obstacle is holding them back, and go on to greater success.

  • 35. 8. INNO - Innovations Solar roads are created using photovoltaic cells installed into road systems. The idea behind these projects is to be able to melt snow, power street lights and even eliminate the need to paint white or yellow lines on asphalt. In the United States of America, there have been many proposed plans for the use of solar roads including the Solar Roadways’ Route 66 experiment; however, none of them has come to fruition. This is mainly due to the benefits of the technology not outweighing the disadvantages. The roads are not thought to be practical due to the high costs and safety concerns. However, in China, a kilometre-long solar road has been built. Unfortunately, the road does not generate enough electricity to validate the $450 USD per square foot price tag. It is known that solar power can power an entire country, but it is still not a viable option for a large-scale road system. Although, if prices continue to drop, it should not be too long before there are low-cost solar cells on the market. Currently, the investigation into solar roads are still ongoing but have yet to make much progress. Until manufacturing costs become lower, it is highly unlikely that we will be seeing solar roads being implemented in cities soon. In today’s time, as online payments are becoming more and more popular means of transactions, online payment gateways have become increasingly important. Payment gateways successfully provide end-to-end solutions for seamless customer experience. They are the key medium to help merchants receive card payments in both card present and card not-present transaction situations. For increasing the value-added services, payment gateways have integrated front-end services of newly available banking platforms. Besides, Digital India Initiative has played a crucial role in making Payment Gateways become such an integral part of society. With this initiative, several other related sectors like Machine Learning, AI, telecom, software industry are getting the push rapidly ever since demonetization. Over a period, payment gateways have become extremely imperative for every e-commerce platform online. Since, in today’s time,
