Do check the site in “RND data planning” at night to make sure the routes,
address, Site configuration.
Move early in morning to site. Before moving site once ask the Site status from
OMCR to confirm is the site is normal?

Site Audit:
When reached to Site:
Ask Rigger to do site audit, meanwhile engineer have to check the Site sector
SWAP. If you find SWAP then note the sectors in your diary and inform me.
When Rigger does complete the audit you have to match his physical audit with
your RND data.
Audit include: to check
 Tower height, Antenna height, building height.
 Azimuths of Antennas
 Electrical and Mechanical tilts
 Panoramic of each Sectors view, Pictures of Tower.
 Note the audit in your diary.

Call test:
Purpose: to verify these parameters

Methodology: Start recording Attempt 10 calls on each sector and each call
duration shall be 10 seconds.
Throughput test:
It is GPRS or EDGE test.

Methodology: Start recording Connect internet from Zong connection made on
desktop.
You must have to hear sound “PDB connection activated”

Duration: Make 5000 samples on each sector.

Note: Disconnect internet connection when completed Internet testing.
DL values must above 120 Kb/s.
MCS coding scheme must be 9

Drive test DT
 For single band site eg 900 or 1800MHZ.
You have will connect all tools, Start recording, make call on 290.
Start covering all possible major routes.
Must cover routes in Antenna main lobe.
Note:
 MS 1 is Idle mode (Do not make call)
 MS 2 is dedicated (make call on 290)
 Make sure there is no packet mode (internet connect in DT time)
 Make sure that BCCH or BAND is not locked as was in Call/Edge test.
 For Dual band Site (Having Antennas of 900+1800 MHZ)
Do DT two times.
DT 1 Normal Mode:
Do not lock any BAND.
DT 2 for GSM 900MHZ.
Lock 900MHZ band

 During DT try to place the TEMS Mobiles near car windows.
 Must start recording
Periodically check:
 Check the recording button , Tools connection green icon, Time in TEMS
windows of “current channel”
Time should not be hange if it has stopped then do stop the car –
disconnect the tools then connect all and start DT.
 Check the RX Qual, Lavels, SQI, MAIOS etc
 Attempt max possible major routes.
 Must do handover from each sector of host site to neighbor site.
 Inform me if Handovers are not occurring.
As DT have completed now you have to do redesigning changes of Site
Antennas.

When you have done changes of Site Antennas (Tilts, Degree) then leave site but

4. RxLevel
The power level corresponding to the average received signal level of the downlink
as measured by the mobile station.  Normal Range is from -30 to – 70.  Level
lower than -70 shows low signal levels.  Amplifiers, New site proposal, Hardware
check could alter the low signal level.6/29/2012 4
5. RxQuality
The level corresponding to the mobile stations perceived quality of the downlink
signal.  Normal range is from 0 to 4.  Quality higher than 4 can result in Call
drops, Call blocks, Muted calls, Handover failures, Interference.  Numerous
alternatives could be used to make the quality normal, which can include setting RF

6. Frame Erasure Rate ( FER )
A speech quality degrade factor that indicates fading and interference.  Normally
should be less than 4%.  FER greater than 4% that degrades RxLevel, RxQuality,
BER, SQI and C/I indicates fading that leads to Call drops, Call blocks, Muted calls
and Handover failures.  FER plays a major role in troubleshooting of Interference.
7. Bit Error Rate ( BER )
The number of received bits that have been altered due to noise, interference and
distortion, divided by the total number of transferred bits during a studied time
interval.  For a perfect system, no bits are to be lost.  Loss of bits can result in
fading and interference that leads to Call drops, Call blocks, Muted calls and
Handover failures.6/29/2012 7
8. Carrier to Interferer ( C/ I )
Co–channel interference is the term used for interference in a cell caused by carriers
with the same frequency present in other cells.  Normal Range of C/I should be
greater than 12 dB.  Value lower than 12 dB indicates interference with a certain
frequency that could be co-channel or adjacent channel interference.  Neighbor
sites should be properly planned to overcome interference problems.
9. Speech Quality Index ( SQI )
SQI is an estimate of the perceived speech quality as experienced by the mobile
user, is based on handover events and on the bit error and frame erasure
distributions.  SQI should be greater than 18.  Low SQI indicates degraded
speech quality and interference.  RF parameter tuning could level the SQI back to
its normal value.

13. Carrier Energy to Interference ( Ec/Io) 
The ratio of received pilot energy, Ec, to total received energy or the total power
spectral density, Io.  Ec/Io should be upto -13dB.  Values less than -13dB could

14. Carrier to Interferer ( C/ I ) 

15. Signal to Noise Ratio ( SNR ) 
Signal to Noise ratio of the carrier.  SNR should be less than 6%.  Values higher
