2. WHY?
• To appeal visual learners(a very high proportion of learners
have this type of intelligence).
• To appeal Kinaesthesic learners.
• To present new vocabulary
• To play different games for warming up.
• Useful at every stage of the class.
• It can be used in conjunction with word cards for children at
reading age.
• To recycle vocabulary.
• They can be given out to early finishers to use in small groups.
• They allow to play at home with parents and siblings.
3. IDEAS FOR ACTIVITIES
• Look at pictures and try to name as many items as possible.
• Make questions to use some structures.
• Show children cards and say a word , they repeat it as group
and individually.
• “Chinese whisper”: children are in line and whisper a word.
The last child has to choose the flashcard and the word card
and place them together.
4. IDEAS FOR ACTIVITIES
• “Flashcard race”: flashcards are placed around the class. Pupils are
divided in groups. Teachers say a word and one student from each team
has to bring the correct card.
• “Pointing”: flashcards are placed around the class. Students point to them
as they are call out.
• “Guessing question game”: Teacher hides a flashcard behind a student’s
back. He or she tries to guess what the object is by asking questions.
• “Memory game”: Flashcards and word cards are placed up side down,
students have to face them up in order to match the flashcard with its
word.
