 Access Art aims to help you develop the
visual arts in your school.
 We support visual arts learning for all ages of
pupils and students from five years to
graduates.
 Provide an open-ended approach to drawing
which is rigorous and active.
 Encourage teachers and facilitators to
provide access to a wide range of drawing
materials from the outset.
 Encourage teachers, facilitators and students
to be open-minded as to what "making a
drawing" might mean?
Help children develop knowledge
and understanding around intention,
appreciation and
reflection, alongside experimental
and more traditional drawing skills.
Be used to introduce new materials.
Set the scene.
Open minds and prevent misconceptions.
Plant seeds of new ideas or ways of working.
Help boost confidence.
Demonstrate intention.
 The children were asked to tear or cut
forms, and to experiment with colour, shape
and composition.
 The elements were glued down onto A2
sheets.
 I talked to the children for a few minutes
about their attitude to risk taking when
making art.
 We all agreed we were happy to take a risk
with the collages – understanding that a
creative risk could lead to unexpected and
exciting outcomes.
 An activity involving skill in making things by
hand
Your title should let readers know exactly
what the tutorial is about, so you should
therefore avoid using titles that are
abstract, referential.
For example, a tutorial for making ant-
fabric baby bloomers should be called,
"How to Make Ant-Fabric Baby
Bloomers," rather than, "Ants on My
Pants."
 Calligraphy is the art of forming
beautiful symbols by hand and
arranging them well
 Use a ruler to get the spacing right
and look at references for your
preferred style so that you can copy
the general style of the letters.

  • 9.  I talked to the children for a few minutes about their attitude to risk taking when making art.  We all agreed we were happy to take a risk with the collages – understanding that a creative risk could lead to unexpected and exciting outcomes.
