verb in each sentence is an action verb or LV if the verb is a
linking verb.
1. The girls baked cookies in the kitchen.
2. Those boys are little rascals!
3. Mariany spoke very softly.
4. Angel seems silly.
5. The teacher laughed with her students.
Station 3
Each of these sentences has a LV. Each sentence also has a predicate
nominative (PrN) OR a predicate adjective (PA). First, write the subject on the
line, and then the PrN or PA.
Ex: She is a wonderful teacher. [She, teacher (PrN)].
1. My new hamster is fluffy.
2. The students were crazy during English class.
3. Ester will become a wonderful gymnast.
4. The President is the leader of the country.
5. Mr. Osberg seems angry.
6. Mr. Newton is my science teacher.
Station 4
Read each sentence below and write the antecedent and pronoun that
agrees with it.
Ex: The students walked to (its, their) classroom. [students,
their]
1. The President spoke in (his, its) conference.
2. Several of the animals jumped in (its, their) cages.
3. Anyone can go to (his, their) own room.
4. One of the boys ate (his, their) lunch.
Station 5
Write the subject of the sentence and the correct verb that goes with it.
Remember subject-verb agreement rules!
1. Marlon (want, wants) a hamburger and fries.
2. Several of the dogs (play, plays) outside.
3. (Is, Are) either of you allowed to play?
4. Many toys (is, are) being given away.
5. Those girls (want, wants) to sing on the stage.
6. Few of the students (take, takes) the bus to school.
7. All of the birds (fly, flies) south for the winter.
8. Do you (want, wants) dinner @ 5:00?

Classify each word and how it is used in the sentence. Separate
your subject and predicate & tell what sentence it is.

the SN)
2. Describe the predicate adjective in your own words
-an adjective in the predicate that describes the SN
3. What does a linking verb do?
-connects the subject to a N or ADJ in the predicate ( state of being)
4. What does an action verb do?
-tells what the subject is doing
5. What is an antecedent?
-A noun that is replaced by a pronoun

  • 3. Station 2 Write the verb in each sentence. Next to that, write AV if the verb in each sentence is an action verb or LV if the verb is a linking verb. 1. The girls baked cookies in the kitchen. 2. Those boys are little rascals! 3. Mariany spoke very softly. 4. Angel seems silly. 5. The teacher laughed with her students.
  • 4. Station 3 Each of these sentences has a LV. Each sentence also has a predicate nominative (PrN) OR a predicate adjective (PA). First, write the subject on the line, and then the PrN or PA. Ex: She is a wonderful teacher. [She, teacher (PrN)]. 1. My new hamster is fluffy. 2. The students were crazy during English class. 3. Ester will become a wonderful gymnast. 4. The President is the leader of the country. 5. Mr. Osberg seems angry. 6. Mr. Newton is my science teacher.
  • 5. Station 4 Read each sentence below and write the antecedent and pronoun that agrees with it. Ex: The students walked to (its, their) classroom. [students, their] 1. The President spoke in (his, its) conference. 2. Several of the animals jumped in (its, their) cages. 3. Anyone can go to (his, their) own room. 4. One of the boys ate (his, their) lunch.
  • 6. Station 5 Write the subject of the sentence and the correct verb that goes with it. Remember subject-verb agreement rules! 1. Marlon (want, wants) a hamburger and fries. 2. Several of the dogs (play, plays) outside. 3. (Is, Are) either of you allowed to play? 4. Many toys (is, are) being given away. 5. Those girls (want, wants) to sing on the stage. 6. Few of the students (take, takes) the bus to school. 7. All of the birds (fly, flies) south for the winter. 8. Do you (want, wants) dinner @ 5:00?
  • 7. Station 6 Classify each word and how it is used in the sentence. Separate your subject and predicate & tell what sentence it is. 1.___ The teacher gave us homework for tonight. 2.___ Andrés is a student in my class. 3.___ Vivian reads many books. 4.___ The mother called her son for dinner. 5.___ My dad was sleepy during the movie.

Describe the predicate adjective in your own words -an adjective in the predicate that describes the SN 3. What does a linking verb do? -connects the subject to a N or ADJ in the predicate ( state of being) 4. What does an action verb do? -tells what the subject is doing 5. What is an antecedent? -A noun that is replaced by a pronoun
