Architectural Wonders - The History and Future of SkyscrapersKenny Slaught
Humans have been trying to touch the sky for all of recorded history, and the skyscrapers of today may only hint at the heights we’ll reach in the future.
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) is an American architectural, urban planning, and engineering firm. It was formed in Chicago in 1936 by Louis Skidmore and Nathaniel Owings; in 1939 they were joined by John O. Merrill. They opened their first branch in New York City, New York in 1937. SOM is one of the largest architectural firms in the world. Their primary expertise is in high-end commercial buildings, as it was SOM that led the way to the widespread use of the modern international-style or "glass box" skyscraper. They have built several of the tallest buildings in the world, including the John Hancock Center (1969, second tallest in the world when built), Willis Tower (1973, tallest in the world for over twenty years), and Burj Khalifa (2010, current world's tallest building). SOM provides services in Architecture, Building Services/MEP Engineering, Digital Design, Graphics, Interior Design, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Sustainable Design and Urban Design & Planning.

It gives introduction and structural details of museum and also revealed what's inside the museum. And it also gives information about why museum of future is a most beautiful building in the world.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

3. Residence Antilia
construction has begun on residence
antilia despite opposition from those
who see it as an ‘excessive’ design in a
city where more than 65% of the
population live in slums. politics aside
and after you recover from the initial
shock of seeing a skyscraper that
resembles an ikea cd rack, the
building actually looks like it may
succeed as a stunning, unique, green
piece of architecture.
4. The Cloud
'the cloud' is a speculative design for a resort city elevated 300 metres in the air
above dubai and supported on slanting legs resembling rain. it is designed by
nadim karam of lebanese architect atelier hapsitus. it is a horizontal presence on
an elevated platform, an antithesis to the sum of skyscrapers spreading over the
entire region.
5. Dubai Hub One
'dubai hub one' is a design proposal for a cultural hub, serving the UAE. designed by
studio nova, the space has been created to work in much the same way as a shopping
mall, except for the consumption of culture instead of goods. its forms have been
generated using algorithms and special programing scripts creating a dense structure of
spaces.
6. Da Vinci Rotating Tower
architect david fisher is the
designer of the 'da vinci rotating
tower', one of the most innovative
an unique buildings to be built in
dubai. the 250 meter tower will
allow each floor to rotate freely
allowing the building to shift its
shape. in between each floor
horizontal wind turbines will
allow the building to produce
energy.
7. Tameer Tower
'tameer towers' was proposed
as a sustainable
skyscraper, designed by
gensler architects. the
development will include six
72 story towers with a
diamond shaped base. set to
be complete in 2011, the towers
will be shaded by a series of
landscaped terraces.
inside, apartments, hotels, sho
ps and office will fill p the
space.
8. Dubai Tower
'dubai towers' is the centerpiece for the large 'lagoons' development. the buildings and the
development were all conceived of by TVS. the four towers range in size from 54 to 97 floors
and were inspired by the flames and movement of candlelight.
9. 0-14 Tower
'0-14 tower' was designed by
resier and umemoto and rur
architecture pc along with
dubai developer, shahab
lutfi. the building was
designed for dubai's
business bay and features 22
floors covered in a double
skin facade that's outermost
skin is constructed from
40c, thick perforated
concrete. the one meter
space between the skins
creates a chimney
effect, cooling the building.

this death-star like sphere is a design
proposal for the RAK convention and
exhibition centre in the new city
development, ras al khaimah. it was designed
by rem koolhaas and reiner de graaf of OMA

originally expected to be
completed this year.
15. Chicago spire
The phenomenal Chicago
spire, when completed in
2010, will be the world’s tallest
residential building and the
tallest building of any kind in
the western world. seemingly
modelled on the image of a
giant drill poking through the
ground, the 609m structure
will dominate the chicago
skyline.
16. CCTV headquarters
At a modest 234m the cctv building isn’t going to stand out from a distance.
however the design and shape is a crowdstopper to say the least and will be another
incredible addition to beijing’s skyline in time for the 2008 olympics. the
shape, described as a ‘z criss-cross’ results in a very high, seemingly unsupported
corner at the front. let’s hope there’s a glass floor up there.
17. The Sphere Hotel
The Sphere Hotel is a project created by Russian designer, Milla Rezanova. The concept interior design
drawings and modern furniture presented here are part of the designer's plan to create a luxury place of
isolation for guests. You can see that the hotel comes out of a cliff face which in of itself is a very
ambitious undertaking. Views would be created on both sides of the hotel which is often an issue when
you stay near a beach for example.
18. Galactic Suite
Galactic Suite is a planned private space station intended for use as an orbital hotel. The company behind the
project, Galactic Suite Limited of Barcelona, Spain, plans to have the station operational by 2012, and says that
investors have come forward to finance the station. Critics, however, have contended that the stated time-frame

Editor's Notes
Torsional Mode of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge
The Cypress Structure, the freeway approach to the Bay Bridge from Oakland, collapsed during the Loma Prieta earthquake, killing 42 people. At least two properties of the Earth's crust conspired to cause this collapse: it was built on loose soils that shook much more strongly than surrounding regions on stronger ground, and variations in the thickness of the Earth's crust between the epicenter of the Loma Prieta earthquake in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Oakland actually focused energy toward Oakland and downtown San Francisco.
