• Before independence , the status was in a much deprived state.

• Multitasking women handling many responsibilities without fear and

• 23% say that there is a lot of discrimination against women in their
country . 16% of Indian women reported that they personally had
faced discrimination because of their gender in the 12 months
before 2019-2020 survey (Pew Research Centre March 2 2020
• 33% of seats in assemblies and the Lok Sabha assigned for only
female candidates
• In Kerala reserving 50% seats in local bodies and panchayats for
women
