that were in close proximity to the occupation. Primary sources of the document provide unaltered
perspectives of the islanders. The authors of the sources give the perspective of a variety of social
classes, from officials to regular people. The limitations are shown through the possibility of
censorship by the British or German governments to hide the true nature of the occupation. As some
