Good Manners Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of good manners might seem deceptively straightforward, but
delving into the intricacies of this topic reveals a myriad of challenges. Firstly, defining what
constitutes "good manners" can be a daunting task in itself, as societal norms and cultural
expectations vary significantly across different regions and communities. This necessitates
extensive research and a nuanced understanding of etiquette across diverse contexts.
Furthermore, discussing good manners often requires a delicate balance between advocating for
courteous behavior and avoiding coming across as overly prescriptive or judgmental. Addressing
the importance of good manners without alienating or offending readers with differing
perspectives demands a thoughtful and empathetic approach to language and argumentation.
Moreover, crafting an engaging and insightful essay on this topic requires more than just
presenting a list of dos and don'ts. It entails exploring the underlying principles and values that
underpin good manners, such as empathy, respect, and consideration for others. This necessitates
critical thinking and the ability to analyze real-life scenarios to illustrate the impact of good
manners on interpersonal relationships and societal cohesion.
Additionally, maintaining coherence and cohesion throughout the essay while navigating through
various subtopics, such as manners in different social settings or the evolution of etiquette in the
digital age, presents its own set of challenges. Ensuring a logical flow of ideas and seamlessly
transitioning between different aspects of the topic requires careful planning and organization.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of good manners may seem simple at first
glance, it entails navigating through complex societal norms, striking the right tone, delving into
underlying principles, and maintaining coherence throughout. It demands a blend of research,
critical thinking, empathy, and effective communication skills to craft a compelling and
meaningful exploration of this subject.

Command Center Journey
1.Two young boys are officially assumed to be dead by the Coast Guard, and we ve
suspended our search. My pulse slowed, my breathing stabilized and my pace
slowly quickened. The music in my headphones is ambient; words interrupt my
concentration and I need to be able to focus and reflect. There are cars on the
bridge backed up for a half mile, filled with people, but I don t see their faces.
Blurring aqua marines and concrete colors fill my vision, but I am not seeing any
of it. As the music and the pounding of my footfalls fall into synchronization, what
I see is faces. Not the faces of the two boys, however, the faces I see are the faces of
my people in the Command Center. We did everything we could, but sometimes,

Success is not a mountain peak, nor is it the finish line. Success is persevering in
the journey. That s important to remember in a Command Center, because everyday
a dozen missions are planned, many cases worked, a multitude of details attended to
and a legion of challenges to be sorted. In this journey is no finishing, there is no
summit. Achieving success in a Command Center is a marathon without end, a 24
hour a day race against failure, and success is possible only through the unified belief
of those undertaking the effort that their actions matter, that what they are doing is
personally and professionally meaningful. Overtime, the constant flow of cases can
erode morale like a river carving a canyon. Chasms can appear in the confidence and
motivation of the watchstanders, which is a recipe for failure. This is where the third
and final pillar of my leadership philosophy comes into play: Vigilant Inspiration. To
combat the grinding down of the most important element in the Command Center, the
will of the watchstander, requires vigilance and constant recognition to maintain the
motivation of my people. Enthusiasm is a delicate flower that flourishes in a harsh
environment only with care and vigilance, encouragement, praise, and the belief that
we have each others success as our priority. To this end, I must be vigilant to praise
whenever it s merited, to document positive performance, and to connect on a
personal level with my people to find out what makes them tick. Only through
knowing my people, am I able to perceive when they are struggling with a deficit of
motivation, burnout, or ennui. Only through showing them that I care about them
personally am I able to earn their trust. Only through having their trust am I able to
earn their respect. Only through having their respect am I able to make praise
meaningfully. This is Vigilant

Congo Genocide
The Democratic Republic of Congo has a very violent history and is still filled
with conflict to this day. Ever since the Democratic Republic of Congo (known as
Zaire until 1996) gained independence in 1960, there were violent plays for power
and two wars occurred. Since armed forces have appeared, they have committed
(mainly sexual) crimes against the people in this country. In 2006, the South Kivu
Province was reported to have more than 27,000 sexual assault occur. According to

Investigation Of A Coil Gun
Abstract: The task of this assignment is to evaluate the of a coil gun using the
variables of number of rapes of coil and the distance the projectile will travel. Then
will evaluate and investigate the physics behind the gun. Aim: The purpose of this
investigation the efficiency of a coil gun using the relationship between the
number of coils and the distance the projectile travelled. Hypothesis: In this
investigation there is a relationship between the number of coils and the distance
the projectile travelled. Therefore the more coils the further the projectiles will
travel (cm). Prediction: As more coils are wrapped around the gun, the distance of
the projectile will increase. Literature Review: Coil gun A coilgun (aka gun Gauss,
Gauss Gauss cannon or rifle) is a type of gun that uses a series of electromagnets
for magnetically accelerate a projectile at high speed. The name Gauss gun comes
from Carl Friedrich Gauss, who formulated the mathematical proofs of the
electromagnetic effect used by Gauss cannons. The Gauss cannons are often called
wrongly railguns from various sources, and while they are similar in general concept
(ie, a magnetic weapon), differ in operation, since a railgun accelerates the missiles
on two rails parallel conductors. The Gauss cannons are in substance identical to the
projector mass, albeit on a smaller scale. Kristian Birkeland is commonly considered
the inventor of the electromagnetic cannon Gauss, by which he obtained a patent
The Right to Bear Arms
Introduction In this essay highlighting the second amendment, I will focus mostly
on the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment states, A well regulated Militia,
being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and
bear Arms, shall not be infringed. I think that the founders put this in the
constitution to keep the sense of freedom they had in England concerning arms,
and other than a small force of paid officers, the United States had no professional,
trained army. Instead it relied almost exclusively on civilian militias for self
defense, focusing primarily on men aged 18 50. In the event of attack by a foreign
country, there would be no trained military force to hold back the British or the
French. This changed when John Adams became president. When John ADams
became president, he made a proffessional navy to protect vessels and trade ships
from pirates. Today, there is no military draft at all. The U.S. Army is made up of a
mix of full time and part time professional soldiers. This is important in maintaining
the US armed forces and the morale of the troops. Finally, this paper will focus on the
current controversies of the second amendment, the past precedents, and the overall
meaning of the amendment. Its important to realize how the meaning of the
amendment has changed over the years, and how it affects your life and how you live
it. Knowing all the amendments current meanings is vital to being a knowledgeable
citizen.
Evaluation Of The Mediation Process
You have asked be to review your file in the above mentioned matter. Moreover, you
have asked me to review the mediation binder in a substantially similar case
involving the same insured that is named as a defendant in the litigation at issue here.
Upon reviewing these materials, you have instructed me to have a conversation with
you about preparing additional reservation of rights letters, and how to proceed going
forward.
In this matter, we represent Liberty Mutual Insurance ( LMI ) in their coverage
dispute with Baltimore Masonry, Inc. ( BMI ). LMI issued a commercial general
liability ( CGL ) insurance policy to BMI. Further, the policy at issue here names
BMI as the named insured, and the Armada Hoffler Construction Company and the
project owners as additional insureds.
The litigation upon which the insureds claim under the CGL policy arises out of a
lawsuit claiming damages associated with the defective construction of the VUE
Condominium. The VUE Condominium is a 30 story mixed use high rise building
that includes a residential condominium located in the Harbor East Neighborhood of
Baltimore City. Plaintiffs allege they have recently discovered that the project
contains a variety of latent design, construction, product manufacturing, and repair
defects, some of which present substantial and imminent risks of serious personal
injury or death.
The coverage dispute at issue in this matter arises out of a lawsuit filed on September

Cultural Imperialism And Iranian Art
Cultural Hegemony and Iranian Art (Iranian Art as Political Discourse)
The following paper will be an evaluation of Iranian artist and the role they play as
women living in exile. The paper will discuss how art becomes a type of political
discourse against patriarchal governments. To do this I will look at the work of
Parastou Forohaur an Iranian artist whose parents were killed when she was young
because they were political activist fighting to defend the rights of all people women
and men included. In the paper I will use various sources and terms that have been
discussed throughout the semester in a short literature review. Shirin Neshat will
also be discussed and the role that she plays in created fragmented narratives that
help women feel empowered in their lives in Iran.
As a member of the artistic community something that has always bothered me is
the usage of specific pronouns during artistic compliments. What do I mean by
pronouns do you ask? I am talking about gender pronouns of course, specifically
girl, female, and lady. Something that often occurs in art is statements like the
following, which I addressed earlier in the proposal for this project: she is a good
girl drummer, or she is a great female guitarist. Why do these superficial
compliments exist? This paper will address that the importance of pointing out these
issues to thus be able to display these women s resilience along the way. These
women have a very interesting role in that they create a

Programs under this strategy are the most commonly available form of work based
learning in the public schools that is designed to assist students in making the
alteration of careers. It features agreements between schools and employers to
provide on the job experiences that relate to a student s career focus. These
experiences are based on objectives jointly developed by school personnel and an
employer within the student s career area. In a typical cooperative education
program, employers provide paid part time jobs in the student s career field. A
teacher coordinator of the cooperative education program arranges placements,
develops a training plan with the employer specifying what the student is expected to
learn on the job, and makes periodic supervision visits to the employer s business.
The employer evaluates the student s job performance in consultation with the
teacher coordinator. Cooperative education programs provide paid work experiences
linked to the career/technology program the student is pursuing. Students work on the
job part time (usually in the afternoon) in a paid position and attend both academic
and occupational related courses during the remainder of the school
Analysis Of Leslie Jamison s Mark My Words. Maybe
Whether it be a dragon, tribal marking, Asian character, or a simple phrase,
thousands of people get tattoos daily. Tattoos play a significant role in self
expression and identity in the modern age as well as since ancient times. Tattoos
can be just for fun, symbolic of heritage and ancestry, representative of
accomplishments or life events, or can be just for style. For some people, it s an
expression of identity and personal beliefs. This is exactly the case for Leslie
Jamison. She tells the story of her tattooin Mark My Words. Maybe. On Jamison s
forearm, the Latin phrase homo sum: humani nil a me alienum puto . In English, this
is translated to I am human: nothing human is alien to me (Jamison 458). Throughout
her story, she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the piece people approach Jamison inquiring about the tattoo and each
time giving a response that she doesn t want. Whenever she explains the translation of
the tattoo, the inquirer immediately questions the motives behind it and gets offended
by her claim to understand humanity and understand everything that is wrong in the
world (Jamison 459). Except, they don t know what Jamison has been through and
don t understand the personal meaning it holds. Although it wasn t her initial
intention, Jamison learns to accept the attention she receives from it. She explains
that the purpose of her tattoo is to attract attention, be aspirational, and cause
admiration. But, she also claims that it also serves the purpose of the opposite of all
of those things (Jamison 460). Jamison tells this story to demonstrate the significance
and symbolism of a tattoo and how a simple phrase can mean so much more about a
person s identity and how it represents people.
In Jamison s story, the main focus is her tattoo and its significance. It is odd to think
that ink on an arm could be so meaningful to someone; however, to Jamison, it is her
identity. Tattoos are declarations of selfhood that make people unique and special
(Jamison 459). As previously stated, this tattoo is a new beginning for Jamison. Her
tattoo means much more than a quote on her arm or something that makes her
Physician Recruitment Process
Physician recruitment is the key of a practice to succeed. It is a whole process from
finding and hiring physicians to keeping and evaluating physicians. Good physician
recruitment will lead to good outcome of the practice. Due to the impact of different
factors, there is a shortage of the physicians and this situation will last for several
years. If the practice wants to find and keep great physicians, they need to make a
different and take actions. Different methods will be introduced throughout each
process of physicianrecruitment.

The orientation in practice is more complex than other business organizations. The
federal government and state governments have lots of requirements to practices.

Beer Myths Research Paper
The best beer myths busted
Who doesn t love sipping on a freshly poured brew? There s no better way to kick

today. During that time many myths surrounding beer have surfaced. Little things we
all believe in, but don t quite know why. It s time for the best beer facts. We re about
to debunk the myths.
Myth 1: The best beer is served ice cold

The best beer is always drunk straight from the bottle. Isn t it? Again, no. The bottle
top can taint the liquid with a metallic tang. For the best taste and drinking
experience, beer should be poured into a glass. Beer glasses have been designed to
release the flavour and aroma of craft beer. In fact, many have been shaped
specifically for a certain beer. Always pour your brew into a beer glass where you
can. Discover our basic guideline to beer glasses here.
Myth 5: Dark beer is heavier than light beer
Perhaps it s because of the depth of colour, but it is often thought that dark beer is
heavier and stronger than light beer. In fact, dark and light refer simply to the colour
of the beer. The colour has nothing to do with strength, it s determined by the toasting
of the malt. The more heavily the malt is toasted, the darker it becomes.
Myth 6: A foamy head is bad
We ve all been there tilting the glass to minimise the amount of foam when pouring
a cold one. Everyone tries to pour their beer with the least amount of foam
possible, but a frothy head is actually a good thing. The foam head serves a
purpose. It helps trap the carbon dioxide and aroma, adding to the scent and flavour
of your beer. Without a good head of foam, the flavour is lost to the

Imagine a man leaving home to retrieve medication for his pregnant wife, but never
returning home. Now, picture him being captured and forced to care for soldiers
without going home for several years. How would he keep his spirits up while
being away from home for so long? One may learn from an experience like this one
when watching the film Doctor Zhivago. The main character, Yuri Zhivago teaches
the audience to work hard even under unwanted or forced labor. He also shows a
determined attitude for keeping his head up and moving forward one day at a time.
This is a strong mindset to have considering the film begins in the 1950 s and
continues all throughout World War I. During this time, Russiais under reconstruction.

was a very popular instrument in Russia around the 1950s. Yuri s mother was very
good at playing the Balalaika. People considered her music as a beautiful art. The
balalaika traveled with Yuri everywhere, but he didn t know how to play it.
Toward the end of the movie Yevgraf starts looking for Yuri s daughter. He found
her, but she claimed she didn t know who her father was. Yevgraf could tell it was
Yuri s daughter because she had an gift for playing the balalaika, just like Yuri s
mother. Many believe that the balalaika serves as a symbol of Yuri s artistic nature.
Which is most likely true, considering Yuri represents Boris Pasternak, who had a
very creative mindset.
In conclusion, the film Doctor Zhivago displayed many elements of symbolism.
These elements include the harsh leader, Strelnikov, the doctor, Yuri Zhivago, and a
beautiful instrument called the balalaika. The audience can see there are many
struggles in the film that have been experienced in real life. One may encounter
obstacles in their lives due to challenges that aren t asked for or deserved. In this
case, the film can teach one to have a go getter attitude and to live everyday to their
best ability even if nothing seems to go
Similarities And Differences Between Knights With
Knights...
Have you ever wondered how it would feel back then with the with knights and
samurais? Summaries and knights have very little in common, but have much
more difference. In Europe knights were hired because the central government
lost their power. Warlords fought each other to see who would have the most
territory. The Western Roman Empire had fallen in the late 400s, leaving the
continent divided and the weak kingdoms apart. Japan had found itself in pieces,
but most people kept the land in order by a system called feudalism. There were
two types of Warriors. First there were Europe s Warriors called the knights, and
there was Japan s Warriors called samurais. The Minamoto won the Civil War later
set up a new government, and the head of the government was the Shogun. Each
ruled the county in the name of the emperor, but the shogun had more power then
the emperor. Europe had a different leader and that was the pope. Knights developed
a code of behavior called Chivalry. A samuraideveloped a code of honor called...

The knight took a vow of the Knighthood. They had to promise no wicked deeds,
be loyal to the king, mercy those who ask, be courteous and be helpful to the
ladies. The loss of Knighthood would be a disgrace and that was a major thing back
then. The samurai s code consists of discharging loyal services to his master if the
samurai has one. The one difference that samurais most of the time had a master and
the knight didn t. The samurai was summarily punishes himself if he didn t follow his
warrior code. The samurai would stab himself with a seppuku, then another person
would cut that a person s neck. They both have different rules they have to follow but
the consequences were way different, the night would be a disgrace but the samurai
would punish himself by killing himself. But the difference that was most different

Pros And Cons Of California Town Hall Meetings
A California town is being threatened with a lawsuit over a 12 hour prayer rally
held outside the city hall for a 6 year old girl who was shot last week, and for an
upcoming town hall meeting at a property belonging to a Christian organization. City
mayor Anthony Silva received a letter from the American Humanist Association and
Stockton Area Atheists and Freethinkers, telling him that the prayer rally held at a
public property violated the Constitution. The rally was dedicated to the 6 year old
child who was wounded in gunfire aimed at the car she was riding with her mother.

Mayors and other public officials cannot use the machinery of the state to push their
religious agendas. Using the state to promote prayer violates the Establishment
Clause of the First Amendment and alienates community members of minority
faiths and of no faith, AHA senior counsel Monica Miller said in a statement. The
letter also complained that the town hall meetings should not take place at
properties of Christian organizations such as of Christian Life Center, where it is
set to take place on November 30. There is similarly no secular purpose for holding
town hall meetings in religious Christian venues, especially when there are ample
secular government venues available. And clearly, there is no secular purpose in
having a city sponsored town hall meeting hosted by a Christian organization. The
city s rejection of the alternative of wholly secular [venues] makes it very clear that

Refusal to Return: Finding Bliss at Upton Although Tom Jones by Henry Fielding is
appropriately known as a comic novel written to no set of absolute rules, the work
shows many characteristics similar to epics. In epic novels the main protagonist is
normally known for following a set series of events called the hero s journey. The
hero s journey is often a three part adventure consisting of a departure, an initiation,
and a return, through which the protagonist learns much about their strengths and
weaknesses having departed from their world to another. In the new world they face

My Experience Of Dance
Tha ka dhimmi, said my Indian dance teacher as I nervously walked into Sreepadam
School of Arts for the first time. I greeted her while her soft smile helped me
consider dance to not be so terrible. The hopeful consideration abruptly stopped as
she instructed me to stomp my right foot, for I did not know which one was which.
Little did I know this was the place I would create lifelong memories and learn the
immense impact of dedication and hard work. Whatever a dancer must learn can
not be mastered by the comprehension of a textbook; it has to be obtained through
struggle and experience. Over the years, I discovered that in order to end up where I
endeavor to be; hard work, responsibility, and passion must lead the way.
Learning the aspects of Bharatanatyam, classical Indian dancing, certainly was
difficult at first, and it required daily practice to reinforce the skills that were
learned at each lesson. The first few practices I attended were similar to learning a
new language or beginning a new physics class and being told It s just algebra. It
was a lot more difficult than it appeared to be. Each day we would learn about five
mudras, hand gestures to tell stories, and eventually we memorized the names and
shapes of fifty six single handed and double handed mudras.
Subsequently, we would practice eye exercises like looking to the corner, looking
up and down, and looking all around. Then we would rehearse expressions such as
love, sadness, and anger because so much of
Self Driving Cars Are Becoming Realistic And Reliable
Technology is everywhere around us, it lead to many useful creations such as
computers, cellphones, airplanes, televisions and many more. Technology created
many ways for people to move from one place to another, like the metro, bus, train,
bicycles and cars. They are the most common transportation tools used by the
people who live in big cities. Science is trying to take it a step further by making the
car driverless. Self drivingcars are becoming realistic and reliable, since it is
developed by many big companies competing with each other for being the first to
release it for sale. Big corporations competing with each other are great for the
progression of the self driving cars, because they will all try to make the better one
compared to other companies and if they make it, the potential is absolutely insane.
The first autonomous driving ever achieved was around 10000 B.C., when the first
horse rider got onto a horse s back and rode on it without directing it to any
direction. Although this technology rarely achieved the goal of arriving at a target
destination, for 11980 years, this was the only form of autonomous driving
humankind could get. This is the earliest traces of the autonomous found. The
second earliest was a Mercedes Benz team making a van drive itself on empty
streets at the speed of 100km per hour. After that, they achieved a autonomous
driving on its own for 1600km. Challenges from DARPA (Defense Advanced
Research Projects Agency) spread this idea and
Why Is Penicillin Important
To begin with, penicillin is a medicine that help save lives. The medicine was one
of the greatest medical discoveries of all time. The way how penicillin works is
that it kills off bacteria. The medicine will continue to stop infectious diseases. In
this case, the medicine was accidently discovered by a bacteriologist named
Alexander Fleming. So Fleming was on a one month vacation, and he didn t keep a
neat and clean lab. In the source The Discovery of Penicillinthe article says it s
possible that one of these mold spores would interact with one of the cultures. When
the mold grew, it seem that it has killed the bacteriain the culture. Later on Fleming

They were working on it around World War II, they believe that the medicine had
potential. They wanted to find a way to use the medicine on humans to help reduce
the bacteria infections in a wound. When they did find a way, it mass produced and
used in the war. The medicine saved many lives. The scientist Florey, Chain, and
Fleming were awarded the Nobel Prize. Fleming was alone credited with the
penicillin discovery. Even though the discovery of penicillin was a simple accident,
but all the series of events that led up to being a very useful medicine.
Furthermore, a scientist named Andrew J. Moyer had succeeded in increasing the
yields of penicillin 10 times, and with the help of Dr. Heatley. The penicillin
production quickly went available to treat the Allied soldiers wounded on D Day.
In the article The History of Penicillin it states, the price dropped from nearly
priceless in 1940, to $20 per dose, in July 1943, to $0.55 per dose by 1946. Because
of their work, two members from the British groups were awarded the Nobel Prize,

Desertification As A Global Problem
Desertification is defined by the UN as the persistent degradation of dryland
ecosystems by human activities, including unsustainable farming, mining,
overgrazing and clear cutting of land and by climate change ( Desertification ).
Desertification can also be defined as a process that reduces biological productivity
and the intensification of desert conditions (Hellden 372). Although less publicized,
desertificationis an issue that requires international cooperation as the victims of
drought, famineand the numerous environmental problems of dry lands are over 250
million, and more than one billion people in over 100 countries are at risk (
Desertification as a global problem 1). Additionally, desertification tends to affect...

Although no quantifiable targets were specified in the agreement, which contributed
to its ineffectiveness, Goal 15 of the UN s SDGs has a target to combat
desertification, restore degraded land and soil, including land affected by
desertification, drought and floods, and strive to achieve a land degradation neutral
world by 2030.
Part 2: Desertification Challenges
Desertification is an environmental problem difficult to address due to its wide
definition and extensive forms of manifestation. According to Warren, the
inadequacies of the definitions of desertification, even among the scientific
community, has led to a credibility gap and a dismissal of the issue relative to other
environmental problems (12). Secondly, there are logistical issues, as sustainably
managing dry lands would involve a bottom up approach and the inclusion of local
populates affected by desertification in the decision making process (13).
Implementation of the convention was also complicated by the use of National
Action Programmes (NAPs), which required identification of causes and solutions to
desertification in each country, large research undertakings for which countries have

Alaska During The Klondike Gold Rush
Alaska is cold, that s not a big surprise, but most people don t know the half of it.
Exploration of Alaska is very dangerous, nor is it easy, and sometimes it involves
death as well. So now i will be writing about why all of this happens, and for the
finale, i will talk about the main reason all of this all happens. So now, sit back,
relax, and try not to freeze to death....yeah. How does the geography of Alaska
make it difficult to explore and settle: both during the Klondike gold rush and still
today? Well, to start this off simple, the cold. The cold is one of the key things, if
not the most important reason in this essay. Sometimes in Alaska it can go below
freezing, and the cold seems like a very simple answer at first, but! They need to
settle, work, and climb in it, the things that they need to do to get what they need, in
this case oil, it will not be a very simple job. And most of the time they come back
empty handed, so the payoff is worth it, and the money they waste is not the thing
they worry about. Because sometimes they go home empty handed, but sometimes
they don t come home at all. And it s more than you think.... Show more content on

Themes Through Out Hawthorn
The literary works of Nathaniel Hawthorne are essentials in a comprehensive study of
American literature. Nathaniel Hawthorne, a sixth generation American was born in
Salem, Mass., on July 4, 1804. Hawthorne had an ancestor who was one of the three
judges at the 17th century Salem witchcraft trials. His Massachusetts family declined
into relative obscurity over the generations, both facts impacted his life, imagination
and writings. ( Nathaniel Hawthorne. Columbia Encyclopedia) Two of Hawthorne s
short stories The Birthmark and Rappaccini s Daughter demonstrate a common

The birthmark is small and delicate, Georgiana s lovers were wont to say that some
fairy at her birth hour had laid her tiny hand upon the infant s cheek, and left this
impress there in token of the magic endowments that were to give her such sway over
all hearts (Hawthorne, 2013). As state by Hawthorne Alymer become obsessed with
the birthmark, He actually hates it more than he loves Georgiana Since the birthmark
blemishes his ideal conception of her, he must eradicate it. (Hawthorne, 2013).

knowing there was a danger, even when Georgiana says she would drink poison
from his hands and is ready to die he continues to urge her to drink the elixir he
concocted. Eventually, elixir does work and the birthmark fades and Georgiana s life
fades with it. Aylmer succeeds in his scientific experiment of eradicating the
birthmark, but kills his wife in the process.

Concepts of Family and Home in Jane Austen s Persuasion
In Jane Austen s last completed novel, Persuasion, England is one large family with
two distinct branches, the navy and the aristocratic upper class it is no accident that
the two large books consulted in the novel are the Baronetage and the Naval Lists.
The naval family poses a threat to the aristocratic family; in fact, undertones of social
instability riddle the text, through imagery of death, illness, and accident. The
marriages of Anne Elliott, Louisa Musgrove, and Harriet Musgrove reveal a gentry
which can only redeem itself through intermarriage with the professional meritocratic
class, symbolically taking on their values of utility and social responsibility, and ...

This domestication of the navy as a group renders it an alternative family to the
aristocratic class; on the one hand, there is the meritocratic, sea faring navy, and on
the other, the indolent, land holding gentry.
The embodiment of this superficial class is the Elliott family. In using the Elliotts as
her prime example of the aristocracy, a family that purchased its nobility relatively
recently, Austenundercuts their claim to privilege. This family serves almost as a
metonym for the larger aristocratic family in general. Rather than showing the
aristocratic family tree as a pyramid of increasing status with increasing
responsibility, Austen portrays it as a social food chain of the flatterers and the
flattered. For example, when Mrs. Clay quits Bath at the end of the novel, Sir Walter
and Elizabeth are shocked and mortified...they had their great cousins, to be sure, to
resort to for comfort; but they must long feel that to flatter and follow others, without
being flattered and followed in turn, is but a state of half enjoyment (Persuasion
220). Unlike the landholders of other novels Mr. Darcy of Pride and Prejudice and
Mr. Knightley of Emma, for example Sir Walter does not fit with Burkean models of
beneficial aristocratic paternalism. His connection to the land is limited to Elizabeth

The Quality Of Quality Assurance Essay
Quality assurance can be defined as a system to monitor to and evaluate a product
or a service. It identifying and recommending measures to make improvements to
set standards and performance and ensuring everything is working well aiming to
avoid problems keeping everything running smooth and improve products and
services. In relation to the teaching, training assessing it ensures the product
/service which the learner is receiving being to correct standard and the internal
quality assurance are the checks which are done to ensure this is occurring. The
IQA Process is carried out from the start and only ends at the completion of the
product or service, in the case of the assessing is the learner s journey through the
learning cycle, and enables the learner to be tracked at each stage of the process.
Assessment and IQA is a continuous process and should be monitored and evaluated
at all times. This allows actions for improvement which can be implemented It is
important that an IQA is appointed to carry out quality assurance when assessment
activities are taking place, the IQA should include the following tasks: plan what
will be monitored, from whom and when observe training and assessor practice, and
give developmental feedback sample assessment records, learners work and assessor
decisions meet with learners and others, for example, witnesses facilitate the
standardisation of assessor practice hold team meetings support assessors Upholding
Indigenous Education And Bilingual Education
By the late 70s, the government had moved towards a hybrid system of having
bilingual educators use indigenous language in primary schools to teach the national
Spanish based curriculum with Spanish materials (Hamel, Indigenous Education
275). After failing once again to produce positive educational outcomes, the
government moved to a bilingual and bicultural model in the 80s, then an
intercultural one in the 90s that is still in use today (Hamel, Indigenous Education
275). In 1991, the Mexican constitution was amended to explicitly recognize
indigenous rights for the first time by promising to protect and promote the
development of [indigenous] languages [and] cultures (Hamel, Indigenous Education
276). This right was further elaborated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A study on bilingualism and income found some negative correlation between
speaking an indigenous language and income. On average, male monolingual Spanish
speakers earn 23% more than bilinguals and monolingual speakers of indigenous
languages, with no significant difference between the income levels of the last two
groups (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 350). Effects were more pronounced in their
female counterparts: monolingual female Spanish speakers earned about 28% more
than bilinguals who, in turn, earned 25% more than monolingual indigenous
language speakers (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 350). However, there is no
indication that learning an indigenous language was the cause for this disparity. In
fact, class was a much better predictor of income and success than language of
education (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 364). Still, indigenous parents often believe
that formally learning an indigenous language will not give their children a
competitive edge in the modern economy (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 364).
Specifically, they point to the fact that, when given the chance to send their children
to bilingual institutions, the majority of non indigenous people including many
bilingual teachers and activists for indigenous language education send their children
to schools that teach English or French (Garcia, Politics 79). Yet, these arguments
made by indigenous parents are often discredited by activists, who attribute the
reluctance to participate in bilingual programs to the fact that the parents themselves
are uneducated and do not know what is best for themselves, their children, and their
communities (Garcia, Politics
Building Your Own PC Essay
Building Your Own PC
In the following paragraphs I will be instructing you step by step on how to build
your own PC (Personal Computer). It is recommended that you have general
knowledge on computers. This means that you need to know what the different parts
are and what they do.
The first thing that you want to do is to get all your tools and parts together. The
tools that you will need are a Phillips screw driver and a Вј ; socket wrench. The
basic parts that you must have are a motherboard (PC Board), a video card, a sound
card, some RAM (Random Access Memory), a hard drive, a 3 ВЅ ; floppy A drive,

After you have tightly crewed those in you will want to take the PC board and set
it on top of the mounting screws. You will want to place the holes of the PC board
over the mounting screws. You will then want to screw down the PC board to the
side panel. After you have done this place the side panel, with the PC board attached,
back into the case and replace the screws that were holding it.
You have now completed the first part of your computer. You will now want to
look at the front of the case and take off one or two of the slot panels, depending on if
you are installing a CD ROM or not. This is where you are going to place you
amp;#8217;re a drive and your CD ROM if you chose to install one. You
amp;#8217;ll want to go ahead and place in the floppy drive and the CD ROM
now and screw them in tightly. Be sure that they do not protrude out of the front of
the case. Now you will want to place your hard drive in under the floppy drive and
secure it. You have now completed the second part of your computer.
You will know want to take your RAM and place them in the slots they were
designed for on the PC board. You will then want to take the IDE cable that came
with the case and plug it into the PC board where the IDE 1 is labeled. You will
then take the other end of the cable and plug it into your CD ROM. Continue to plug
the middle of the cable into your hard drive making
Line Clipping Is The Process Of Removing Lines
LINE CLIPPING ALGORITHMS Line clipping is the process of removing lines
/portions of lines that are outside of an area of interest. There are two main
algorithms of line clipping namely: 1)Copen Sutherland 2)Liang Barsky Copen
Sutherland This algorithm is used to detect and dispense with two trivial cases
and in order to clip a line we are required to consider only the end points. When the
endpoints of a specific line lie inside the window then it can be said to be trivially
accepted and clipping is not required. Clipping occurs when both endpoints of a
line lie entirely to one side of the window thus indicating that the line entirely lies
outside of the window hence trivial rejection and the line needs to be clipped.
Inside Outside Window Codes The Copen Sutherland algorithm sets up a half
space code for the endpoints so as to determine whether the endpoints are inside or
outside the window. An infinite line is defined by every edge of the window
which divides the entire space into two half spaces (the inside half space and the
outside half space) Fig 1.1 During the trivial acceptance and rejection tests the
edges of the window are extended so as to divide the window planes into 9 regions.
The end points of the respective line are then assigned the code of the region in
which it lies. 1)Given a line with endpoint L1 =(x1, y1) and L2 = (x2, y2), we
compute the 4 bit codes for the endpoints: If both codes are 0000 the line maybe said
to completely lie
Ezra Pound And Modernist Poetry
The following poems share a similar theme: Ezra Pound s A Few Don ts, Wallace
Stevens Of Modern Poetry, Archibald Macleish s Ars Poetica, and Marianne Moore s
Poetry. Each of these authors felt they had discovered superlative methods to write
the most powerful poetry. However, the details and methods which each author used
varied from one another. Born in 1885, Ezra poundis known as one of Modernist
poetrys biggest contributors. His poetry of the early 20th century was
unconventional and controversial for its time. He studied endlessly to understand
every facet of poetry and pave his own way in the field. He pioneered the imagist
movement and developed rubrics which imagist poems were to follow. In A Few

His poetry is experimental and was influenced by the works of numerous
modernist poets. As he aged, his poems developed to be more traditional. Many of
his works in the 1930 s analyzed social and political issues that plagued the world
during this period. Ars Poetica challenges how one interprets their own reality, and
his own guidelines to powerful poetry. He uses strong, apt images to convey his
points. MacLeish believes a poem should be worldess As the flight of birds
(MacLeish 789). This poem is much more abstract than the other two, but shares
the same theme of trying to connect to the reader and illicit strong feelings.
MacLeish believes that A poem should not mean But be (MacLeish 790). A poem
should speak for itself and use strong images for the reader to ponder. This leaves
the poem more open to interpretation and discussion. Marianne Moore was born in
Missouri in 1887. She was a modernist poet; however, the subjects which she chose
to write about differed from the average modernist. Most modernist poetry during this
time was centered around the state of modern civilization. Moore chose to center her
poetry around animals, nature, and poetry itself. Her poem Poetry starts off
somewhat perplexing when she states I, too, dislike it: there are things that are
important beyond all this fiddle (Moore 791). This is demonstrating irony, because
Biblical Allusions in The Magician s Nephew
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician s Nephew is very interesting story wise. It
has a lot of good morals and allegories teaching integrity, self control and wisdom
and is mostly composed of biblical allusions.
A biblical allusion is to use a reference from the bible to communicate a hidden
meaning. You could compare your best friend to Jonathan, King David s loyal friend
in the books of Samuel. You could also illustrate faith through the strength of the
disciples as they remained faithful even in persecution. Many biblical allusions can
be found here in The Magician s Nephew .

Aslan had also chosen specific animals to have the power of speech. Those who
had this free will to speak had been given the land that was created to populate. This
is closely related to the creation of man and woman and the freedom of speech for
humanity. As long as they did not go back to their old ways as dumb animals, the
speaking animals were given authority by Aslan to govern the animals who could not

nothing without God, for He is the only one who can raise us up from the lowly
beginning from whence we had come from. Here is a quote from the book showing
the authority of Aslan, just as God has authority over us as His creation.

you cease to be Talking Beasts. For out of them you were taken and into them you

Reflection About Hunting
Hunting has dated back to ancient times when there were massive sheets of ice
covering the planet, and yet, all of the evolving the human race has done, it is still
a crucial part of some people s everyday life. It has been a family tradition for dads
to take their sons into the woods, and teach them the ways of stalking your prey, and
finally killing it. On my eighth birthday, I woke up to my dad dressed in a
camouflage top holding onto a bowand arrowand a massive white target standing at
his feet. His first words were we are going to have fun today . I instantly thought that
that day I was going to be killing my first animal, but to my dismay, it turned out that
blood was not shed for three years.
I loved that bow and arrow, and I can remember everyday after school I would go to
the garage and shoot that bow to the point where I couldn t manage to draw it back.
After about month, I had lost hope in killing anything with that bow because I was
not able to shoot it straight. There was a time that I was shooting in the garage at a
target, and the arrow slipped out of my hand, and it had managed to hit a bottle of
lighter fluid. Granted I there was not enough force behind the arrow to push it the
entire way through the can, but it was enough to spill the lighter fluid all over my
foam target. I was no longer to use my bow and arrow unsupervised.
Years later, my dad decided to take me to the gun range. He had brought the gun that
his father had taught him how to shoot

Analysis Of Bad Day By Daniel Poster
Bad Day by Daniel Poster has been a song that has influenced my life since I can
remember. It is really the first song that i remember hearing from my child hood.
Every time it came on the radio me and my mom blasted it. The song goes through
the motion in a third person narrative of someone having a bad day. I remembered
during my childhood when I was having a bad day I would blast this song and it
would make me in a better mood. It really begin the foundation of music for me.
This song spoke volumes to me and it would instantly change my mood when I
heard it. Now when I hear it I instantly am drawn to memories of me and my mother
blasting it. It takes me back to my child hood in a way. I remember my favorite
lines from the song was, You re taking one down. You sing a sad song just to turn it
around. Its ironic, but sometimes listening to sad music will brighten my mood. I
related a lot with that verse and the rest of the song. This is why Bad Day by
Daniel Poster is part of my attention collection project. Scooby Doo is another piece
of my attention project. Growing up I didn t really like watching a lot of
television, but I do remember loving the show Scooby Doo. I was interested in
always trying to figure out the mystery of who was the person behind all the
mischief. I remember when I was sick I would watch Scooby Doo. It was a big part
of my child hood and I also still like to watch it today. It has taught me that the real
monsters are not the made up monsters
Research Paper On Pretty Little Liars
Pretty Little Liars is an American teen drama, mystery and thriller television series
based on the popular book series, written by Sara Shepard. For those who have
never heard of Pretty Little Liars, the show is based around a group of four female
friends who become engrossed in a missing persons case. The queen bee of their
group, Alison, goes missing and the remaining friends find themselves being
blackmailed by an anonymous source, A, who seems to know an awful lot of their
secrets. TV shows come in many different variations. Pretty Little Liars may not be
the first teen targeting show in its generation, shows such as Vampire Diaries, Teen
Wolf and Gossip Girl fall in this category. Yet, Pretty Little Liars has criteria that
stands out among the rest. The captivating show sucks in over 2.972 million viewers
a week and has won awards such as Choice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There s a fair amount of mature language, and some misguided choices that the
characters make that lead them into dangerous situations, all of which is made
possible by an extreme lack of parental influence on the show. However, most kids
say the show is watchable and appropriate for their peers age ten and up. In spite of
these reviews, I believe the action and mysterious aspect of the show is not too
scary and I m usually a total wimp when it comes to scary movies or TV shows.
Pretty Little Liars is more suspenseful than other shows and some storylines are
just a little bit creepy, As for the age appropriate aspect, I believe the show is not
the cleanest, but in the world we live in today most kids under the age of 12 are
watching teen based shows with inappropriate storylines. The show is not only for
teens. My mom and some older adults I know, also watch the nail bitingly good
show. The fan base is mainly girls but guys can certainly watch and enjoy it
Ethos In Joe Clark
Joe Clark uses the appeal of credibility of character, also known as ethos, to
encourage his students and teachers at Eastside High to work hard and improve.
One example of how Mr. Clark showed ethos is at the beginning of the movie when
he first came in and kicked out all of the bad students from the stage. These students
were the worst of the worst, they had been selling and using drugs and not doing
anything to improve in school. By coming right in and laying the hammer down on
the students, this showed the students that there is now authority in the school and
they cannot keep messing around. The school had not seen any type of real leaders
in the school in a while, and that is why it got so bad there. With Joe Clark arriving,
things will surely change. Another example of ethosin this movie is how Mr. Clark
ensured that each one of the students lives were doing okay and they had a place to
stay. He would always ask people how they were doing in the hallway and that
made the students look up to him as a person who really did care for them. Joe
took the time and personally went to Kaneesha s house and made sure she had a
safe place to permanently stay and convinced her mom to keep letting her live
there. This put Kaneesha s trust in Mr. Clark as a person she can really rely on and
look up to. A final example of when Joe Clark used ethos is when he said that
everyone could succeed on the test and in life if they are really willing to put the
work in for it. He said he truly believed in them that they will pass if they become
motivated. Joe saying that he believed in the students put encouragement in them
that they had possibly never seen. Another way that Joe Clark motivated the
students and staff of Eastside to work harder is by using the appeal of Logos, or
statistics and logic. A powerful example of when Mr. Clark used logos is when he
had a meeting with all of the staff and made 70% of them put their hands up to
signify the 70% of students who failed the exam. This really made the staff really
think that they can make a big difference in these kids lives. Another example of
when Joe Clark used logos to get the students motivated is when he made a speech
before they took the exam. He made the

Maine Explosion
x On a peaceful night at the Coco Havana the Maine one of the first warships
owned by the U.S. Costing over 2 million dollars and weighing approximately
6,000 tons blew up in an explosion. After taking about 9 years to build the ship, it
was all ready to sail the seas. The Maine then sailed the Atlantic Ocean for 3 years,
after which it settled in Havana, Cuba in January of 1898. On the night of
February 15,1898 the ship was blown up in an explosion. This is an article on
whether it was an internal or external explosion that sank the Maine. After doing
some research, I found my position on the issue. I believe the sinking of the Maine
was an internal explosion. After years of investigation in the 1900s, they did not
come up with a specific reason for the explosion. However, some Americans blamed
Spain. As you may know the effect of this explosion was the Spanish American war.
Which gave Cuba independence and America gained leadership of Guam, Puerto
Rico and the Philippines.
Lamentation Martha Graham Analysis
We are made of stories. They define us and make us who we are. We are constantly
being molded by the stories we create ourselves and the ones thrown in our direction.
As children, we watched movies and read books about princesses, knights, talking
bears, and even giant red dogs. We were told stories from our parents about lessons
they learned as children with hopes we would not make the same mistakes. There are
some stories that can not adequately be shared through words or pictures. There is a
purity and truth to a story when it is told through dance, movement of the human
body. The human body is the instrument through which the dance speaks[; it] is also
the instrument through which life is lived. It is the instrument by which all the

There is freedom of movement, expression, costume, space, and music. Modern
choreographers strive to use all of these unique aspects of dance to spark the core of
the audience s soul to connect them to the piece. Martha Graham, who is considered
the mother of modern dance, accomplishes this concept in her piece Lamentation .
Lamentation was first performed on January 8, 1930 at New York s Maxine Elliott
s Theater. Martha Graham performed the piece at the premiere. The piece
consisted of a solo dancer, a bench, and constricting, muted, purple, fabric tube as a
costume. The simplicity of the fabric tube enhanced her dance by pushing the
audience to focus on her movement. The tube appears to act as the dancer s skin
and as the dancer moves, pushing and pulling the fabric, she gives the idea she is
so stricken with grief, grief she can t explain, she is stuck and crawling in her own
skin. In 1932, Record (Philadelphia) gave a review of the piece saying, When Miss
Graham in her Lamentation depicts the dumb agony of grief she does not droop like
a flower or attitudinize like Patience on a monument, she is grief from the first
stricken bewildered gropings of her head and torso to the last moment when she
averts her covered head with a finality that is pitiful and terrible

Jamasb and Nepal Assessed the Economic Environmental

There has been a considerable amount of academic research performed in the area of
evaluating the feasibility of WTE systems through technology, environmental, and
economical analysis. Some of these studies have been done by Jamasb and Nepal
(2010), Zaman (2010), Evangelisti et al (2013) and Nixon et al (2013).
Jamasb and Nepal (2010) assessed the economic and environmental aspects of waste
management options in the UK with focus on waste management targets and carbon
prices, and the results were then compared with the conventional coal fired power
systems. Comparisons were made through developing a social cost benefit analysis of
recycling, energy recovery through landfill gas, incineration and coal power
generation. The paper concluded that WTE is cost effective in comparison to a coal
fired plant, but the technology requires government policies and subsidies to allow
the market to develop. This study could be further developed by including other
advanced WTE technologies such as AD and ATT in the assessment, as well as taking
into consideration the more recent developments in UK renewable energy
government policies.
In another paper, Zaman (2010) analysed the environmental performances of three
waste treatment technologies: sanitary landfill with energy recovery, incineration and
gasification pyrolysis. The methodology used was through conducting life cycle
analysis (LCA) with SimaPro software, with the context of a Swedish waste treatment
system. The author concluded

Prudhoe Bay Research Paper
Prudhoe Bay is a town in the Arctic region of Alaska; it is also called
Sagavanirktok. It is a significant industrious economical area because the largest
oilfield in all of North America is located in Prudhoe Bay. This does not give
economical advances to just Alaska s economy, but also the country s economy.
Prudhoe Bay s major oil producers are British Petroleumand Phillips; other minor oil
companies are Brooks Range, Anadarko, Exxon, and Eni. Prudhoe Bay has an
abundance of oil an example of the amount is, in around 1 day 1 million barrels of oil

The environment is described as a tundra which means a the land is a flat treeless
area. Prudhoe Bay is bordered by the Arctic Ocean which are where most of the
petroleum reserves are located. Because the geography is so flat, the oil rises up
from geological pressure under the ground. This is one of the reasons oil is found
here by the barrels. Though the plant life seems a bit sparse many animals reside in
this natural habitat and thrive off the habitat; common animals of this area are
caribou, migratory birds, bears and many more. Because Prudhoe bay is located in
the far north, climate is low; the average temperature is 11.2 degrees fahrenheit with
lowest temperatures in February and January of around 30 degrees fahrenheit; and
highest temperatures in July with an average of around 50 degrees fahrenheit. Wind

Essay on Oedipus and Hamlet
Efthimios Mariakakis
Professor Mihailovic
5 14 01
Though Shakespeares Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus the King were written in two
different eras, echoes of the latter can be found in the former. The common theme of
Hamlet and Oedipus the King is regicide. Also, like in Oedipus the King, there is a
direct relationship between the state of the state and the state of their kings.
Furthermore, there is also a relationship between Oedipus armed entrance into the
bedroom in which Jocasta hanged herself, and Hamlet s confrontation of Gertrude in
her bedroom. Both plays share the emphasis on a tragic irony in the chain of events
that lead up to ritual of catharsis, but the plot of Hamlet makes a much more

You are the murderer, you are the unholy defilement of this land(Knox, 23). Tiresias
goes on to say I say that without knowing it you are living in shameful intimacy with
your nearest and dearest. You do not see the evil in which you live (Knox, 25).
Mariakakis 3 The other major ingredient of the tragic equation, the purging emotion,
is worked out by Sophocles. The hubris of Oedipus is demolished when he confides
in Jocasta concerning the predictions of the seer Tiresias; she tells him the story of
the murder of Laius, and as she speaks, Oedipus comes to recognize the scene and
circumstances of the regicide as being the same as those encountered on the road
to Thebes. The full hypothesis of his doings come to him and he cries out to
Jocasta, Oh, it is all clear as daylight now (Knox, 54). However, when he faces the

was the same infant who was cast out to the wolves by Laius; Laius had feared the

now sees that the prophecy has indeed come true, for he has killed his own father
and committed incest with his mother. He then blinds himself, as if to acknowledge

If Georgia readers are like most Americans, they ve driven while drowsy at some
point in their lives. Statistics indicate that 60 percent of U.S. drivers are guilty of
driving drowsy at least once, and approximately one third have actually nodded off
while operating a vehicle. While drowsy driving may not seem like a big deal to
some people, the behavior is just as dangerous as driving while drunk. In some
cases, it can even be more dangerous. Research shows that staying awake for 18

they have a blood alcohol content level of .10. For comparison, the legal blood

using traditional marketing placement strategies i.e. price, promotion, packaging,

Izanami s Creation
In the beginning, there was only a mass of Chaos but over time this mass begin to
separate. The lighter more translucent parts ascending to form the heavens while the
heavier parts sank to become the Earth. Heaven was given life and form while earth
was still liquid and barren. The primordial gods were not pleased, so they gave Izanagi
no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto the task of giving Earth life and form. The two
accepted and were given a jeweled spear, Amenonuhoko, to assist them with their
tasks. The gods crossed the bridge between Heaven and Earth. Once on Earth, they
churned the sea with the bejeweled spear and created Japan s first Island, Onogoro
from the salt water still remaining on the blade. The gods built their home there
Once Onogoro was formed, Izanami and Izanagi wished to be married. They
constructed a pillar of Heaven, Ame no Mihashira. Once it was competed, they stood

Good Manners Essay

  • 1. Good Manners Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of good manners might seem deceptively straightforward, but delving into the intricacies of this topic reveals a myriad of challenges. Firstly, defining what constitutes "good manners" can be a daunting task in itself, as societal norms and cultural expectations vary significantly across different regions and communities. This necessitates extensive research and a nuanced understanding of etiquette across diverse contexts. Furthermore, discussing good manners often requires a delicate balance between advocating for courteous behavior and avoiding coming across as overly prescriptive or judgmental. Addressing the importance of good manners without alienating or offending readers with differing perspectives demands a thoughtful and empathetic approach to language and argumentation. Moreover, crafting an engaging and insightful essay on this topic requires more than just presenting a list of dos and don'ts. It entails exploring the underlying principles and values that underpin good manners, such as empathy, respect, and consideration for others. This necessitates critical thinking and the ability to analyze real-life scenarios to illustrate the impact of good manners on interpersonal relationships and societal cohesion. Additionally, maintaining coherence and cohesion throughout the essay while navigating through various subtopics, such as manners in different social settings or the evolution of etiquette in the digital age, presents its own set of challenges. Ensuring a logical flow of ideas and seamlessly transitioning between different aspects of the topic requires careful planning and organization. In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of good manners may seem simple at first glance, it entails navigating through complex societal norms, striking the right tone, delving into underlying principles, and maintaining coherence throughout. It demands a blend of research, critical thinking, empathy, and effective communication skills to craft a compelling and meaningful exploration of this subject. • 2. Command Center Journey 1.Two young boys are officially assumed to be dead by the Coast Guard, and we ve suspended our search. My pulse slowed, my breathing stabilized and my pace slowly quickened. The music in my headphones is ambient; words interrupt my concentration and I need to be able to focus and reflect. There are cars on the bridge backed up for a half mile, filled with people, but I don t see their faces. Blurring aqua marines and concrete colors fill my vision, but I am not seeing any of it. As the music and the pounding of my footfalls fall into synchronization, what I see is faces. Not the faces of the two boys, however, the faces I see are the faces of my people in the Command Center. We did everything we could, but sometimes, despite the best... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Success is not a mountain peak, nor is it the finish line. Success is persevering in the journey. That s important to remember in a Command Center, because everyday a dozen missions are planned, many cases worked, a multitude of details attended to and a legion of challenges to be sorted. In this journey is no finishing, there is no summit. Achieving success in a Command Center is a marathon without end, a 24 hour a day race against failure, and success is possible only through the unified belief of those undertaking the effort that their actions matter, that what they are doing is personally and professionally meaningful. Overtime, the constant flow of cases can erode morale like a river carving a canyon. Chasms can appear in the confidence and motivation of the watchstanders, which is a recipe for failure. This is where the third and final pillar of my leadership philosophy comes into play: Vigilant Inspiration. To combat the grinding down of the most important element in the Command Center, the will of the watchstander, requires vigilance and constant recognition to maintain the motivation of my people. Enthusiasm is a delicate flower that flourishes in a harsh environment only with care and vigilance, encouragement, praise, and the belief that we have each others success as our priority. To this end, I must be vigilant to praise whenever it s merited, to document positive performance, and to connect on a personal level with my people to find out what makes them tick. Only through knowing my people, am I able to perceive when they are struggling with a deficit of motivation, burnout, or ennui. Only through showing them that I care about them personally am I able to earn their trust. Only through having their trust am I able to earn their respect. Only through having their respect am I able to make praise meaningfully. This is Vigilant

Then will evaluate and investigate the physics behind the gun. Aim: The purpose of this investigation the efficiency of a coil gun using the relationship between the number of coils and the distance the projectile travelled. Hypothesis: In this investigation there is a relationship between the number of coils and the distance the projectile travelled. Therefore the more coils the further the projectiles will travel (cm). • 6. The Right to Bear Arms Introduction In this essay highlighting the second amendment, I will focus mostly on the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. I think that the founders put this in the constitution to keep the sense of freedom they had in England concerning arms, and other than a small force of paid officers, the United States had no professional, trained army. Instead it relied almost exclusively on civilian militias for self defense, focusing primarily on men aged 18 50. In the event of attack by a foreign country, there would be no trained military force to hold back the British or the French. This changed when John Adams became president. When John ADams became president, he made a proffessional navy to protect vessels and trade ships from pirates. Today, there is no military draft at all. The U.S. Army is made up of a mix of full time and part time professional soldiers. This is important in maintaining the US armed forces and the morale of the troops. Finally, this paper will focus on the current controversies of the second amendment, the past precedents, and the overall meaning of the amendment. Its important to realize how the meaning of the amendment has changed over the years, and how it affects your life and how you live it. Knowing all the amendments current meanings is vital to being a knowledgeable citizen.
  • 7. Evaluation Of The Mediation Process You have asked be to review your file in the above mentioned matter. Moreover, you have asked me to review the mediation binder in a substantially similar case involving the same insured that is named as a defendant in the litigation at issue here. Upon reviewing these materials, you have instructed me to have a conversation with you about preparing additional reservation of rights letters, and how to proceed going forward. In this matter, we represent Liberty Mutual Insurance ( LMI ) in their coverage dispute with Baltimore Masonry, Inc. ( BMI ). LMI issued a commercial general liability ( CGL ) insurance policy to BMI. Further, the policy at issue here names BMI as the named insured, and the Armada Hoffler Construction Company and the project owners as additional insureds. The litigation upon which the insureds claim under the CGL policy arises out of a lawsuit claiming damages associated with the defective construction of the VUE Condominium. The VUE Condominium is a 30 story mixed use high rise building that includes a residential condominium located in the Harbor East Neighborhood of Baltimore City. Plaintiffs allege they have recently discovered that the project contains a variety of latent design, construction, product manufacturing, and repair defects, some of which present substantial and imminent risks of serious personal injury or death. The coverage dispute at issue in this matter arises out of a lawsuit filed on September 25, 2015 in the Circuit Court for

Cultural Imperialism And Iranian Art Cultural Hegemony and Iranian Art (Iranian Art as Political Discourse) The following paper will be an evaluation of Iranian artist and the role they play as women living in exile. The paper will discuss how art becomes a type of political discourse against patriarchal governments. To do this I will look at the work of Parastou Forohaur an Iranian artist whose parents were killed when she was young because they were political activist fighting to defend the rights of all people women and men included. In the paper I will use various sources and terms that have been discussed throughout the semester in a short literature review. Shirin Neshat will also be discussed and the role that she plays in created fragmented narratives that help women feel empowered in their lives in Iran. As a member of the artistic community something that has always bothered me is the usage of specific pronouns during artistic compliments. What do I mean by pronouns do you ask? I am talking about gender pronouns of course, specifically girl, female, and lady. Something that often occurs in art is statements like the following, which I addressed earlier in the proposal for this project: she is a good girl drummer, or she is a great female guitarist. Why do these superficial compliments exist? This paper will address that the importance of pointing out these issues to thus be able to display these women s resilience along the way. These women have a very interesting role in that they create a

In a typical cooperative education program, employers provide paid part time jobs in the student s career field. A teacher coordinator of the cooperative education program arranges placements, develops a training plan with the employer specifying what the student is expected to learn on the job, and makes periodic supervision visits to the employer s business. The employer evaluates the student s job performance in consultation with the teacher coordinator. Cooperative education programs provide paid work experiences linked to the career/technology program the student is pursuing. Students work on the job part time (usually in the afternoon) in a paid position and attend both academic and occupational related courses during the remainder of the school
  • 10. Analysis Of Leslie Jamison s Mark My Words. Maybe Whether it be a dragon, tribal marking, Asian character, or a simple phrase, thousands of people get tattoos daily. Tattoos play a significant role in self expression and identity in the modern age as well as since ancient times. Tattoos can be just for fun, symbolic of heritage and ancestry, representative of accomplishments or life events, or can be just for style. For some people, it s an expression of identity and personal beliefs. This is exactly the case for Leslie Jamison. She tells the story of her tattooin Mark My Words. Maybe. On Jamison s forearm, the Latin phrase homo sum: humani nil a me alienum puto . In English, this is translated to I am human: nothing human is alien to me (Jamison 458). Throughout her story, she... Whenever she explains the translation of the tattoo, the inquirer immediately questions the motives behind it and gets offended by her claim to understand humanity and understand everything that is wrong in the world (Jamison 459). Except, they don t know what Jamison has been through and don t understand the personal meaning it holds. Although it wasn t her initial intention, Jamison learns to accept the attention she receives from it. She explains that the purpose of her tattoo is to attract attention, be aspirational, and cause admiration. But, she also claims that it also serves the purpose of the opposite of all of those things (Jamison 460). Jamison tells this story to demonstrate the significance and symbolism of a tattoo and how a simple phrase can mean so much more about a person s identity and how it represents people. In Jamison s story, the main focus is her tattoo and its significance. It is odd to think that ink on an arm could be so meaningful to someone; however, to Jamison, it is her identity. Tattoos are declarations of selfhood that make people unique and special (Jamison 459). As previously stated, this tattoo is a new beginning for Jamison. Her tattoo means much more than a quote on her arm or something that makes her

In fact, many have been shaped specifically for a certain beer. Always pour your brew into a beer glass where you can. Discover our basic guideline to beer glasses here. Myth 5: Dark beer is heavier than light beer Perhaps it s because of the depth of colour, but it is often thought that dark beer is heavier and stronger than light beer. In fact, dark and light refer simply to the colour of the beer. The colour has nothing to do with strength, it s determined by the toasting of the malt. The more heavily the malt is toasted, the darker it becomes. Myth 6: A foamy head is bad We ve all been there tilting the glass to minimise the amount of foam when pouring a cold one. Everyone tries to pour their beer with the least amount of foam possible, but a frothy head is actually a good thing. The foam head serves a purpose. It helps trap the carbon dioxide and aroma, adding to the scent and flavour of your beer. Without a good head of foam, the flavour is lost to the

Summaries and knights have very little in common, but have much more difference. In Europe knights were hired because the central government lost their power. Warlords fought each other to see who would have the most territory. The Western Roman Empire had fallen in the late 400s, leaving the continent divided and the weak kingdoms apart. Japan had found itself in pieces, but most people kept the land in order by a system called feudalism. There were two types of Warriors. The Minamoto won the Civil War later set up a new government, and the head of the government was the Shogun. Technology created many ways for people to move from one place to another, like the metro, bus, train, bicycles and cars. They are the most common transportation tools used by the people who live in big cities. Science is trying to take it a step further by making the car driverless. Self drivingcars are becoming realistic and reliable, since it is developed by many big companies competing with each other for being the first to release it for sale. Big corporations competing with each other are great for the progression of the self driving cars, because they will all try to make the better one compared to other companies and if they make it, the potential is absolutely insane. The first autonomous driving ever achieved was around 10000 B.C., when the first horse rider got onto a horse s back and rode on it without directing it to any direction. Although this technology rarely achieved the goal of arriving at a target destination, for 11980 years, this was the only form of autonomous driving humankind could get. This is the earliest traces of the autonomous found. The second earliest was a Mercedes Benz team making a van drive itself on empty streets at the speed of 100km per hour. After that, they achieved a autonomous driving on its own for 1600km. Challenges from DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) spread this idea and

The naval family poses a threat to the aristocratic family; in fact, undertones of social instability riddle the text, through imagery of death, illness, and accident. This domestication of the navy as a group renders it an alternative family to the aristocratic class; on the one hand, there is the meritocratic, sea faring navy, and on the other, the indolent, land holding gentry. The embodiment of this superficial class is the Elliott family. In using the Elliotts as her prime example of the aristocracy, a family that purchased its nobility relatively recently, Austenundercuts their claim to privilege. This family serves almost as a metonym for the larger aristocratic family in general. Rather than showing the aristocratic family tree as a pyramid of increasing status with increasing responsibility, Austen portrays it as a social food chain of the flatterers and the flattered. For example, when Mrs. Clay quits Bath at the end of the novel, Sir Walter and Elizabeth are shocked and mortified...they had their great cousins, to be sure, to resort to for comfort; but they must long feel that to flatter and follow others, without being flattered and followed in turn, is but a state of half enjoyment (Persuasion 220). Unlike the landholders of other novels Mr. Darcy of Pride and Prejudice and Mr. Knightley of Emma, for example Sir Walter does not fit with Burkean models of beneficial aristocratic paternalism. On average, male monolingual Spanish speakers earn 23% more than bilinguals and monolingual speakers of indigenous languages, with no significant difference between the income levels of the last two groups (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 350). Effects were more pronounced in their female counterparts: monolingual female Spanish speakers earned about 28% more than bilinguals who, in turn, earned 25% more than monolingual indigenous language speakers (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 350). However, there is no indication that learning an indigenous language was the cause for this disparity. In fact, class was a much better predictor of income and success than language of education (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 364). Still, indigenous parents often believe that formally learning an indigenous language will not give their children a competitive edge in the modern economy (Chiswick, Patrinos, and Hurst 364). Specifically, they point to the fact that, when given the chance to send their children to bilingual institutions, the majority of non indigenous people including many bilingual teachers and activists for indigenous language education send their children to schools that teach English or French (Garcia, Politics 79). Yet, these arguments made by indigenous parents are often discredited by activists, who attribute the reluctance to participate in bilingual programs to the fact that the parents themselves are uneducated and do not know what is best for themselves, their children, and their communities (Garcia, Politics

  • 30. Line Clipping Is The Process Of Removing Lines LINE CLIPPING ALGORITHMS Line clipping is the process of removing lines /portions of lines that are outside of an area of interest. There are two main algorithms of line clipping namely: 1)Copen Sutherland 2)Liang Barsky Copen Sutherland This algorithm is used to detect and dispense with two trivial cases and in order to clip a line we are required to consider only the end points. When the endpoints of a specific line lie inside the window then it can be said to be trivially accepted and clipping is not required. Clipping occurs when both endpoints of a line lie entirely to one side of the window thus indicating that the line entirely lies outside of the window hence trivial rejection and the line needs to be clipped. Inside Outside Window Codes The Copen Sutherland algorithm sets up a half space code for the endpoints so as to determine whether the endpoints are inside or outside the window. An infinite line is defined by every edge of the window which divides the entire space into two half spaces (the inside half space and the outside half space) Fig 1.1 During the trivial acceptance and rejection tests the edges of the window are extended so as to divide the window planes into 9 regions. The end points of the respective line are then assigned the code of the region in which it lies. 1)Given a line with endpoint L1 =(x1, y1) and L2 = (x2, y2), we compute the 4 bit codes for the endpoints: If both codes are 0000 the line maybe said to completely lie

This is closely related to the creation of man and woman and the freedom of speech for humanity. As long as they did not go back to their old ways as dumb animals, the speaking animals were given authority by Aslan to govern the animals who could not talk. Lewis gives us a hint that humans are dumb in nature, and that we would be nothing without God, for He is the only one who can raise us up from the lowly beginning from whence we had come from. Here is a quote from the book showing the authority of Aslan, just as God has authority over us as His creation. Creatures, I give you yourselves, said the strong, happy voice of Aslan. I give to you forever this land of Narnia. I give you the woods, the fruits, the rivers. I give you the stars and I give you myself. The Dumb Beasts whom I have not chosen are yours also. Treat them gently and cherish them but do not go back to their ways lest you cease to be Talking Beasts. For out of them you were taken and into them you can return. Do not so. Reflection About Hunting Hunting has dated back to ancient times when there were massive sheets of ice covering the planet, and yet, all of the evolving the human race has done, it is still a crucial part of some people s everyday life. It has been a family tradition for dads to take their sons into the woods, and teach them the ways of stalking your prey, and finally killing it. On my eighth birthday, I woke up to my dad dressed in a camouflage top holding onto a bowand arrowand a massive white target standing at his feet. His first words were we are going to have fun today . I instantly thought that that day I was going to be killing my first animal, but to my dismay, it turned out that blood was not shed for three years. I loved that bow and arrow, and I can remember everyday after school I would go to the garage and shoot that bow to the point where I couldn t manage to draw it back. After about month, I had lost hope in killing anything with that bow because I was not able to shoot it straight. There was a time that I was shooting in the garage at a target, and the arrow slipped out of my hand, and it had managed to hit a bottle of lighter fluid. Granted I there was not enough force behind the arrow to push it the entire way through the can, but it was enough to spill the lighter fluid all over my foam target. I was no longer to use my bow and arrow unsupervised. Years later, my dad decided to take me to the gun range. He had brought the gun that his father had taught him how to shoot

It is really the first song that i remember hearing from my child hood. Every time it came on the radio me and my mom blasted it. The song goes through the motion in a third person narrative of someone having a bad day. I remembered during my childhood when I was having a bad day I would blast this song and it would make me in a better mood. It really begin the foundation of music for me. This song spoke volumes to me and it would instantly change my mood when I heard it. Now when I hear it I instantly am drawn to memories of me and my mother blasting it. It takes me back to my child hood in a way. I remember my favorite lines from the song was, You re taking one down. You sing a sad song just to turn it around. Its ironic, but sometimes listening to sad music will brighten my mood. I related a lot with that verse and the rest of the song. This is why Bad Day by Daniel Poster is part of my attention collection project. Scooby Doo is another piece of my attention project. Growing up I didn t really like watching a lot of television, but I do remember loving the show Scooby Doo. I was interested in always trying to figure out the mystery of who was the person behind all the mischief. I remember when I was sick I would watch Scooby Doo. It was a big part of my child hood and I also still like to watch it today. It has taught me that the real monsters are not the made up monsters

TV shows come in many different variations. Pretty Little Liars may not be the first teen targeting show in its generation, shows such as Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf and Gossip Girl fall in this category. There s a fair amount of mature language, and some misguided choices that the characters make that lead them into dangerous situations, all of which is made possible by an extreme lack of parental influence on the show. In spite of these reviews, I believe the action and mysterious aspect of the show is not too scary and I m usually a total wimp when it comes to scary movies or TV shows. Pretty Little Liars is more suspenseful than other shows and some storylines are just a little bit creepy, As for the age appropriate aspect, I believe the show is not the cleanest, but in the world we live in today most kids under the age of 12 are watching teen based shows with inappropriate storylines. • 42. Ethos In Joe Clark Joe Clark uses the appeal of credibility of character, also known as ethos, to encourage his students and teachers at Eastside High to work hard and improve. One example of how Mr. Clark showed ethos is at the beginning of the movie when he first came in and kicked out all of the bad students from the stage. These students were the worst of the worst, they had been selling and using drugs and not doing anything to improve in school. By coming right in and laying the hammer down on the students, this showed the students that there is now authority in the school and they cannot keep messing around. The school had not seen any type of real leaders in the school in a while, and that is why it got so bad there. With Joe Clark arriving, things will surely change. Another example of ethosin this movie is how Mr. Clark ensured that each one of the students lives were doing okay and they had a place to stay. He would always ask people how they were doing in the hallway and that made the students look up to him as a person who really did care for them. Joe took the time and personally went to Kaneesha s house and made sure she had a safe place to permanently stay and convinced her mom to keep letting her live there. This put Kaneesha s trust in Mr. Clark as a person she can really rely on and look up to. A final example of when Joe Clark used ethos is when he said that everyone could succeed on the test and in life if they are really willing to put the work in for it. He said he truly believed in them that they will pass if they become motivated. Joe saying that he believed in the students put encouragement in them that they had possibly never seen. Another way that Joe Clark motivated the students and staff of Eastside to work harder is by using the appeal of Logos, or statistics and logic. A powerful example of when Mr. Clark used logos is when he had a meeting with all of the staff and made 70% of them put their hands up to signify the 70% of students who failed the exam. This really made the staff really think that they can make a big difference in these kids lives. Another example of when Joe Clark used logos to get the students motivated is when he made a speech before they took the exam. He made the

Maine Explosion x On a peaceful night at the Coco Havana the Maine one of the first warships owned by the U.S. Costing over 2 million dollars and weighing approximately 6,000 tons blew up in an explosion. After taking about 9 years to build the ship, it was all ready to sail the seas. The Maine then sailed the Atlantic Ocean for 3 years, after which it settled in Havana, Cuba in January of 1898. On the night of February 15,1898 the ship was blown up in an explosion. This is an article on whether it was an internal or external explosion that sank the Maine. After doing some research, I found my position on the issue. I believe the sinking of the Maine was an internal explosion. After years of investigation in the 1900s, they did not come up with a specific reason for the explosion. However, some Americans blamed Spain. As you may know the effect of this explosion was the Spanish American war. Which gave Cuba independence and America gained leadership of Guam, Puerto Rico and the Philippines.

Modern choreographers strive to use all of these unique aspects of dance to spark the core of the audience s soul to connect them to the piece. Martha Graham, who is considered the mother of modern dance, accomplishes this concept in her piece Lamentation . Lamentation was first performed on January 8, 1930 at New York s Maxine Elliott s Theater. Martha Graham performed the piece at the premiere. The piece consisted of a solo dancer, a bench, and constricting, muted, purple, fabric tube as a costume. The simplicity of the fabric tube enhanced her dance by pushing the audience to focus on her movement. The tube appears to act as the dancer s skin and as the dancer moves, pushing and pulling the fabric, she gives the idea she is so stricken with grief, grief she can t explain, she is stuck and crawling in her own skin. In 1932, Record (Philadelphia) gave a review of the piece saying, When Miss Graham in her Lamentation depicts the dumb agony of grief she does not droop like a flower or attitudinize like Patience on a monument, she is grief from the first stricken bewildered gropings of her head and torso to the last moment when she averts her covered head with a finality that is pitiful and terrible

There has been a considerable amount of academic research performed in the area of evaluating the feasibility of WTE systems through technology, environmental, and economical analysis. Some of these studies have been done by Jamasb and Nepal (2010), Zaman (2010), Evangelisti et al (2013) and Nixon et al (2013). Jamasb and Nepal (2010) assessed the economic and environmental aspects of waste management options in the UK with focus on waste management targets and carbon prices, and the results were then compared with the conventional coal fired power systems. Comparisons were made through developing a social cost benefit analysis of recycling, energy recovery through landfill gas, incineration and coal power generation. The paper concluded that WTE is cost effective in comparison to a coal fired plant, but the technology requires government policies and subsidies to allow the market to develop. This study could be further developed by including other advanced WTE technologies such as AD and ATT in the assessment, as well as taking into consideration the more recent developments in UK renewable energy government policies. The common theme of Hamlet and Oedipus the King is regicide. Also, like in Oedipus the King, there is a direct relationship between the state of the state and the state of their kings. Furthermore, there is also a relationship between Oedipus armed entrance into the bedroom in which Jocasta hanged herself, and Hamlet s confrontation of Gertrude in her bedroom. Mariakakis 3 The other major ingredient of the tragic equation, the purging emotion, is worked out by Sophocles. The hubris of Oedipus is demolished when he confides in Jocasta concerning the predictions of the seer Tiresias; she tells him the story of the murder of Laius, and as she speaks, Oedipus comes to recognize the scene and circumstances of the regicide as being the same as those encountered on the road to Thebes. However, when he faces the shepherd who had found the child Oedipus, and who now reveals that the child was the same infant who was cast out to the wolves by Laius; Laius had feared the fulfillment of a prophecy that he would die by his own son s hands, and Oedipus now sees that the prophecy has indeed come true, for he has killed his own father and committed incest with his mother. He then blinds himself, as if to acknowledge the charge of the blind seer Tiresias that he was blind in his pride. Oh God! It has all come true. Light, let this be the last time I see you. We were counting scores and by the end of the two hours, I was at
