This document summarizes the key findings of the 2015 Application Trends Survey of full-time two-year MBA programs. The survey found that a majority (57%) of programs reported increased application volumes compared to the previous year. Full-time MBA programs receive more applications and have lower acceptance rates than other MBA program types. The typical applicant pool has slightly more international (54%) than domestic candidates, and women now make up 40% of applicants. Interviews, exam scores, and transcripts carry the most weight in admissions decisions. Most programs offer merit-based scholarships but less than a third offer need-based aid. Employer funding supports less than 30% of each graduating class.

In an era of accountability and a growing emphasis on college completion, successful campuses are using data to drive their retention planning and strategy development. Student satisfaction data plays a key role in retention planning efforts at colleges and universities across the country. What are the best approaches for using these types of data to improve student retention? This presentation will feature four suggestions for using student satisfaction data with an emphasis on improving retention. We will also identify several top issues facing schools and provide suggestions for improving satisfaction in these areas. As a result of participating in this session, individuals will be able to identify clear next steps on how to use their own institution’s satisfaction data to improve student success.

Leveraging Salesforce to Drive Career Center SuccessSalesforce.org
Presentation from Salesforce.org Higher Ed Summit 2017 by: Katie Connor of the University of Colorado Boulder
Since 2012, the job placement rate for Leeds graduates has increased from an average of 59% to over 90%. Student email click rates are up over 20%, career advising appointments have doubled, and the overall response rate to placement surveys has exceeded 99% in the past 2 years. These numbers were achieved, in part, due to leveraging technology to effectively capture data, analyze it and act on it. The use of Salesforce and Qualtrics, as the technological backbone for Leeds Career Development, combined with strong school-wide partnerships, have enabled us to increase operating efficiency and improve stakeholder engagement to drive student success.
This research collected comprehensive information on the prevalence of organizations hiring 2015 college graduates with undergraduate and graduate degrees. The findings revealed that one-fifth of respondents (20%) indicated their organizations hired 2015 college graduates to begin working after graduation, and 15% indicated they hired 2015 college graduates to begin working before graduation. Among organizations that indicated they had hired 2015 graduates, 18% offered higher total compensation to 2015 college graduates than to 2014 college graduates; the majority (81%) offered compensation that was “about the same.”
Half of potential transfer students will not reach out to admissions until they are ready to apply. With their list of schools they are considering as small as 2-4, it's ever important to ensure you are "top of mind" for potential transfer students.
As we enter the spring recruitment season when transfer recruitment becomes a big priority for many schools, it's important to stay informed of top trends and resources for building your brand, capturing student interest, and engaging and converting prospects through enrollment.
This presentation will focus on top ways colleges are using new technology to go beyond the table in the student lounge and focus on high impact and measurable methods of finding and connecting with their prospects.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
