The Death Of A Soul
A soul is something that is hard to describe and define as it is not a physical thing. When you
think above it is quite hard to be certain that human beings even have a soul because we cannot
see it or have hard evidence of it. Unlike the brain, which we cannot see our own but we know for
certain human beings do in fact have a brain due to the hard evidence such as brain scans and the
fact that we cannot do everyday tasks without it. However, saying that, it is quite common to think
that we all have a soulbecause if you can have a conscience, then we must have a soul. So how do
we know if we have a conscience? Well if you feel emotions such a sadness, happiness or even
anger but also have a moral sense such as knowing the difference between right and wrong then we
can conclude that you have a conscience. Even though the definition of soul is different to
everyone, the Greek philosopher Aristotledefines the soul as Form of the body in the De Anima.
He believed that the soul is not separate from the body but rather work as one. Whereas another
Greek philosopher, Plato believed according to the Republic, that the soul and the body are two
different parts which is something that I believe in. and
In the question Jana s soul is replaced with another soul, even though it will do the same work as
the old soul but I do not believe Jana is still Jana, the person she was before her soul was replaced.
Perhaps this is because a soul is what actually defines the person you are,

How Does Rob Sitch Use Satire In The Hollowman

Social media is the new generation fad and while most entrepreneurs use it to their advantage to
advertise their business, there are many more who believe it is unnecessary. According to Hubspot,
92% of marketers in 2014 claimed that social media marketing was important for their business,
with 80% indicating their efforts increased traffic to their websites. And according to Social Media
Examiner, 97% of marketers are currently participating in social media but 85% of participants aren
t sure what social media tools are the best to use (DeMer, 2014). Today, social media is widely used
in online marketing and a lot of people build their businesses just sitting at home, without having to
invest in anything. However, there are still some businessmen who believe that customers will
come to them as long as their product/service is good through word of mouth. Online networking is
the best stage for uniting a brand with its forthcoming customers and an extraordinary medium for
mingling and interfacing. It additionally empowers the organization to determine client protests and
offer pay, in this way enhancing client administration. One who is not out there on online
networking can t interface with its purchasers and will fall back in the opposition. Online
networking empowers organizations to promote their item and benefits and educate its purchasers

Caesar Augustus Contributions
History is made up of individuals who were just living the life they wanted to live. Their actions
ended up making an impact on our world as we know it. At the time they probably had no clue that
the actions they put forth in their time would eventually lead up to the world we know today. Their
life events may not have been grand, but they were enough to make an impact. Caesar Augustusis
one example of a person in history who led a successful life.
Born Gaius Octavius on September 23, 63 B.C., in Velletri, Italy. Augustus was a sickly child with
few connections. Although, one connection he did have was being the great nephew of Julius Caesar
. Augustus was known by three different names throughout his life. From birth to 44 B.C. he was
known as Octavius, in 44 B.C. he was adopted and changed his name to Octavian and in 26 B.C.
the Roman Senate conferred on him the name Augustus. His father was a senator and governor in
the Roman Republic and passed away when Augustus was four years old; his mother Atai was
Caesar s niece. In his younger years his grandmother Julia Ceasaris helped raise him; she was the
sister of Julius Caesar.
Augustus donned the toga, the Roman sign of manhood, at age 16, and began taking on
responsibilities through his family connections. At the time Rome was dangerous and engulfed in
a civil war, one faction of the war was led by his great uncle Caesar. He started on his path of
responsibilities by leaving for Hispania to fight alongside his

The Kansas Nebraska Act
In 1854, the argument over slavery appeared in Congress again when Stephen A. Douglas
introduced the Compromise of 1850. Kansas and Nebraska would become free states because of
where they are located, north of 36 30 N latitude. If they both became free states, the balance
would be broken. Douglas knew southerners would object to this so he let the people in each
territory vote on it to be a free or slave state so he introduced the Kansas Nebraska Act. This is
called popular sovereignty when the people get to decide on an issue. As a result, Northerners
protested. This caused even more tension before the Civil War would begin. The Kansas Nebraska
Act would allow slavery into

Poodles Vs Blue Heler Research Paper
Standard Poodles v.s. Blue Heelers
You stand in the aisle staring at row after row of puppies trying to decide which one to get. Poodle?
Heeler? Poodle? Heeler? Both Poodles and Blue Heelers have their pros and cons. They can be
really cute, but some have to have certain diets unless major health problems can develop. Some
dogs have a really warm heart and love kids, but are too big or too aggressive to fit in with small
children. When choosing a dog it is important to look at body type, diet, training/temperament,
grooming and care time, job/breeding purpose, and any major health concerns.

combination of substance, power, balance, and hard muscular condition must convey an impression
of great agility, strength and endurance.
Being that they are very muscular the Heeler s size may sound intimidating, but you are mistaken.
In all actuality, Heelers normally stand between 17 and 20 inches and range from 33 49 lbs. They
are great for a growing family that wants a smaller dog that can withstand the trials and tribulations
of the kids playful roughhousing. On the other hand, Poodles are long and lanky, yet squarely built.
Their ears sit near the side of their head and fold down onto the skull. The Kennel Club says that
Poodles are, ...squarely built, well proportioned, moving soundly and carrying himself proudly...
Even though Poodles aren t as muscular, they make up for it in height. Poodles range from 25 35
inches and can weigh anywhere from 45 70 lbs. These dogs are great for playing and hanging out
with older kids. The young ones may be a little shy at first, but they will quickly make friends with
this big ball of fluff.

Paul Laurence Dunbar Sympathy Essay
Sympathy In Paul Laurence Dunbar s poem Sympathy, he chose the image of a caged bird to
represent his true feelings and emotions towards slavery. Many people question why he chose a
caged bird to symbolize a slave for many reasons. Birds were the complete opposite of slaves, birds
were free and seemed to always be full of joy. Whereas slaves were caged and mistreated by their
owners. The comparison between the two gives the reader a sense of irony. In the first stanza,
Dunbar says he knows how the caged birdfeels. When the first bird sings and the first bud opens,

He was born in Dayton, Ohio. He was an African American Novelist and playwright in late 19th
Century and Early 20th Century. He even started his own newspaper at only 17. Dunbar came
from a family of African American slaves. Parents, Matilda, and Joshua Dunbar were slaves in
Kentucky before the Civil War. His father joined the Union Army during the war to fight for
freedom after escaping from slavery. His father s fight for freedom during his life, played a big role
in his writings. Many of his poems expressed the oppression of African Americans. In this poem,
Dunbar chose to use the image of a caged bird for the lack of freedom. The was using this bird to
reflect the image of himself. Being a black male in the 1800 s, make him feel as if he was a caged
bird. While looking for jobs, Dunbar faced racial prejudice and discrimination. Leaving him to
only find a job as an Elevator Operator. Which left him spending long hours at work, but also
seem to be the perfect time to think about his writings. He believes all black people around the
1800 s was suffering as well. He says they were all locked in a cage, and revoked of their freedom.

While moving around throughout my adult years, I have noticed that many of the cultural issues
that I see here in the south are not an issue in northern states and other countries. I have also seen a
difference between small communities and large communities. Seems most people in the larger
communities are much more open minded and willing to go out of their ways to embrace cultural
diversity whether in their workplace or in their neighborhood. Diversity is about learning from
other cultures and respecting the differences that come our way. I work in a small public school
system; our county does not have a Wal Mart. As far as cultural diversity, all the teachers, except
for one are white and the support staff, to include janitorial, and kitchen help are all black. There

Shakespeare s Use of the Supernatural in Macbeth Essay
The supernatural was a popular element in many of the plays written in Shakespeare s time
(including Hamlet) and everyone of Shakespeare s time found the supernatural fascinating. Even
King James I took a special interest in supernatural and written a book, Daemonologie, on
witchcraft. It must be remembered that, in Shakespeare s day, supernatural referred to things that
were above Nature ; things which existed, but not part of the normal human life and unexplainable.
The play Macbethinvolves many supernatural actions that act as a catalyst for suspense and thrill,
insight into character, foreshadowing of future events as well as making connections with the theme.

constantly relying on the witches supernatural powers and their ability to call out the three

supernatural elements in the play could be intended to increase the thrill and suspense of the
audience. At the same time, bear in mind that Shakespeare had the play performed for King James
I, perhaps, the supernatural scenes on the witches is intended to cater to King James I s personal
interest.
It is also noted that the presence of the witches in every scene, is often accompanied by thunder

forces. The disorder and disturbance of Nature in the presence of the witches supernatural forces

How Principals Should Apply Instructional Leadership...
In a well researched and scholarly book, Doctors Joesph and Jo Blase accomplish two tasks:
outlining how principals should apply instructional leadership skills while performing their jobs,
and describing how principals should maintain positive relationships with their teachers while still
effectively leading. As well published, credentialed authors in the field of educational leadership,
the both of the Blases serve as credible sources on the topic. To accomplish their desired tasks, the
authors divide the book into brief chaptersthat each explain either an attribute of instructional
leadership or a method for maintaining positive principal teacher relations. According to the authors
themselves, the book s shows what successful instructional leaders do to enhance teaching and
learning and the effects that their behaviors have on teachers performance and well being (xiii).
Through the authors careful organization of research, use of primary sources, and use of secondary
sources, the book accomplishes this goal.
To organize their research, the Blases first divide their information into the broad categories of
Part I: The Art and Science of Instructional Leadership and Part II: How Supervisor s Behaviors
Positive and Negative Affect Teachers. By first dividing their information into these two broad
categories, the authors effectively organize their research. While the concept of carrying out
instructional leadership, as described in Part I, and how leaders should

similar characteristics to humans, allowing us to learn more about our past. There are a few
methods that Primatologists use to make their research relevant to anthropology: field study,
laboratory study, and semi free ranging. Field studying is done in nature, where scientists study
primates in their natural habitats. Laboratory study is when the environment is completely

Some Like It Hot by Billy Wilder
Some Like It Hot, Billy Wilder s 1959 musical comedy is filled with double meanings and sexual
overtones that also includes certain aspects such as cross dressing and homosexuality. In 1959,
the topic of homosexuality was taboo. If homosexuality was at all brought up, it was in a
comical manner. Viewing Some Like It Hot fifty five years later, one can not help but wonder if the
films last line spoken by Osgood, Well, nobody s perfect , is meant to be satirical or solely for the
purpose of a laugh. In the genderbending comedy, Some Like It Hot, directed by Billy Wilder, the
affirmation of heteronormativity is established through narrative, thematic, and iconographic
conventions. The narrative conventions that help to claim that Some Like It Hot is a
heteronormativity are historical settings. The historical setting in Some Like It Hot is the 1920 s,
and that alone draws narrative parallels between gender transgression and the Prohibition. The
criminalisation of alcohol acts as a reminder to how easily an activity of pleasure and personal
choice can be included under institutionalized morality. The setting of the 1920 s also provides a
crucial reassurance to the viewer that could potentially be transphobic, by creating a safe distance
between the sites of transgression. To tease with this type of viewer, Wilder added Osgood s line at

Operant Conditioning Reinforcement Analysis
Reading Summary: The second half of chapter 3 is about Operant Conditioning and how it works
by using different reinforcement techniques to mold behavior. The chapter covers the different
types of reinforcements such as positive, negative, extrinsic, intrinsic, primary secondary, social,
activity, and material. In operant conditioning a variety of these types of reinforcements can be
used to shape and condition a subject to behave in a specific way. Word Count: 67 Learning Theory:
Behaviorism is constructed upon stimulus response actions and the way in which things learn from
what is around them. It shows how the environment is something that can affect future actions of a
being and how people develop habits of thinking and doing. Word Count:... Show more content on

When I was in grade school I had teachers that would reward students for good grades and
positive behavior thus making it more likely for us to work hard to do better. I remember
receiving candy, a material reinforcer, recess extensions, an activity reinforcer, and even activity
passes, an activity reinforcer, for doing well. If I proved to know the content well enough, then I
was allowed to skip an activity in class to do something more fun such as a craft or a game
instead. Or sometimes, those who did exceptionally well on a quiz would be allowed to go to
lunch early which also meant a longer recess. These incentives to do well positively reinforced
my work ethic so that I was studying more and working harder to achieve good grades. I noticed
as I went through school that my work ethic strengthened the more positive reinforcement I
received. If I began to slip, and my effort level decreased then I would receive negative
reinforcement from my teachers in the form of a bad grade, a secondary reinforcer. This would
then signal me to work harder so that I would not receive the same low grade as before. The
consequences I encountered from both working hard and slacking off shaped the way I behaved
in school. When offered incentives to do well and negative consequences for not performing as
well, I was induced to work hard and get good grades. One particular example of Operant
Conditioning I remember from my early education was when my father promised my class
McDonalds lunch if all of us got 100% on our spelling test. I remember our entire class studying
harder than we had before to achieve a perfect score on our test. We ended up making our goal
and being the highest scoring class all year for spelling tests. My father s positive reinforcement
of our habit to study hard affected my class and for the rest of the year my class had a notably

Ethanol As An Environmentally Friendly Fuel Essay
The United States is the world s largest producer of ethanol fuel, producing over 60% of the
world s ethanol in 2011, which correlates to the creation of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS)
in 2005. The RFS originated with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and was expanded and extended
by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). The RFS requires renewable fuel
to be blended into transportation fuel more so every year until it is set to reach 36 billion gallons
in 2022 (Renewable). The purpose of this has widely been seen as an effort to combat
environmental damage such as climate change and oil spills in addition to being a political move to
be independent in creating our means of energy production. Currently, ethanol is societally regarded
as an environmentally friendly fuel, being that it is produced from plant material through a series of
chemical reactions. One of the most controversial issues relating to ethanol is the net energy of
ethanol production. In sum, more energy is used to grow and process raw material into ethanol than
is can be released by the ethanol itself. The agricultural practices that are necessary to produce the
biomaterials that are converted to ethanol include planting, fertilization, tilling, watering, and
harvesting, while processing the biomaterials involve transportation, fermentation, and distillation
(Energy). While these processes require more energy than is able to be harvested from the resulted
ethanol, and thus ethanol fuelis

The Road Monologue
Every fool and child knows that crossroads are magical places. Places where one might encounter
things not easily found elsewhere. Where the desperate might cut a deal with a demon, and where
the world weary might find themselves crossing into another place or time. Every fool and child
knows these things, but sometimes the wise forget them.
The crossroads in question did not look like a crossroads to most who saw it. It looked like a
simple dirt path, bisecting a field full of long grass that waved in the wind, the Earth s flowing
green hair. On the path, at a seemingly random spot, there was a little town. But the townspeople
could see the other half of the crossroads, as could the few who traveled upon it.
The dirt path led from nowhere to nowhere, and the other road, which was made of something far
less substantial than earth, led to just about any destination one could think of. And an inn had
sprung up where the two roads met, as inns are wont to do. Later, a little town had built itself
around the inn. The town was just like any other town, and the inn like any other. Horses brayed
in their stables. Fields of crops grew. But if you were observant, and you walked along the wheat,
you would notice something strange about it. It was. . . Wispy, almost. Shimmering. Almost like it
was not quite real enough, or perhaps a bit too real. And if one walked through the horses stables,
or among the cows in the field, one would see a fierce, wild intelligence in the animals eyes. ...

The Characteristics Of Ancient Accounting
Ancient accounting started way back during the ancient civilization. However, double entry
bookkeeping started in the 14th century in Italy. The Italians of the 14th to 16th century were the
first to practice the use of Arabic, rather than Roman, numerals for tracking business accounts. Luca
Pacioli was acknowledged as the Father of Accounting and Bookkeeping. However, he was not the
one who invented the double entry bookkeeping systembut he was the one who started to spread
this knowledge and the first to publish his work on this system. The principles published by him
remain mostly unchanged until today. Before his work, Benedetto Cotrugli wrote Delia Mercatura
et del Mercante Perfetto (Of Trading and the Perfect Trader), that touches briefly about the features
of double entry bookkeeping. Although the work of Benedetto Cotrugli had not been published for
more than a century, Pacioli was familiar with the manuscript and he credited Cotrugli as the

entire population of Oakville, except for the 1 infected person is at risk of being infected by the
disease. Then, I will use the Kermack McKendrick model to derive an exponential equation,
which will model the spread of this virus throughout Oakville. Using this equation, I will be able
to find the time required, in days, for the entire population to be affected by the virus. I will
define the point at which the entire population is affected by the virus, to be that point at which
there are no more susceptible people remaining who are at risk of being infected by the disease.
This means that all the people are distributed within the categories of either being infected or
recovered with immunity, or dead. I will then compare my results to those of case studies, of
countries such as Sierra Leone and Liberia which were affected in the 2014

Writing In A Social-Media Related Context
The following text addresses my personal view about writing in a social media related context.
Since my early days as a student, things have changed a lot; from the mostly handwritten way of
writing, being attentive to good calligraphy, and paper neatness, to using typewriters to have more
consistent and presentable results. Then, there was the time of the early computer word processors
that, nevertheless, brought new resources to the average writer. Writing was mostly an individual
experience, generally limited to essays, term papers and interpersonal correspondence, but that has
changed a lot since the advent of the internet.

Dominance In Jane Goodall s The Shadow Of Man
This highlights a very important detail of the dominance hierarchy; how flexible it is. Before
his display with the Kerosene cans Mike was practically on the bottom of the hierarchy but with
one strong display shot up to the top. This shows the quite fascinating ability for the species to
recognize individuals and remember their actions allowing someone such as Mike to do one
spectacular act of dominance and be remembered for it and not have to fight for it again. This is
quite different from a species such as the Stag Beetle, were the same males may wrestle for
territory over and over with the same victor simply because the loser doesn t remember the winner.
Further squabbles for dominance are made unnecessary between individuals when one... Show more

She explains that the shadow of man refers to the towering presence that man holds above the
chimp and indeed all wild animals. Chimpanzees live in man s shadow, only able to survive in
places that man has not claimed for farming or timber purposes. What havens these creatures do
have is continually shrinking as man shines his light of industry on the shadow. Goodall and many
others fear for the continued survival of animals who call these untouched forests their home as
they should given not only the indirect killing of these species by destroying their habitats but also
by more direct means such as hunting for locals needs or even worse, for the desires of foreigners
who financially support the hunting of these endangered species. As Goodall insinuated in the final
two chapters, chimpanzees and the creatures in their habitat have much to teach us about the
development of intelligence, the past of our species and its development, and modern day human
psychology that is often difficult to observe. The chimpanzee lives at the mercy of man and their
interests are constantly at odds. The deaths of the chimps are seen not as big of a tragedy as they
are lesser than man, they are animals. What Dr.Goodall s work shows is that the chimpanzee is not
only similar to man genetically, they have personalities, feel heartbreak, form relationship and

In 1940, Woody Guthrie wrote the song This Land is Your Land. He wrote it to explain that
America is everyone s, not just the people who can pay for it. He traveled across the U.S.A
singing hundreds of song that he wrote. He also made quotes that are still famous today. This
song and these quotes are similar to each other, but they also are different from each other. In
these ways, This Land is Your Land is similar to Woody s quotes. First of all, they are similar
because they both say Woody will never give up singing until his very last second on Earth. He
states it in the quotes, where he says I will fight those songs to my very last breath of air and my
last drop of blood. In the song, he says nobody living can ever stop me. Another similarity is they
are saying that everyone is worth it, everyone has a place. That is what Woody believed in.
Finally, they are similar because they both came from Woody, they both told what he felt in his
heart. It is easy to tell when your hear the music or read the quotes. They have deep passion in them.

Descriptive Essay About Love
Finding Love
As I walk into the Homeward Animal Shelter for my dog walking shift, I think of the reason I
began my weekly volunteering. I want to give love, in any way I can, to the animals who have
been left by the ones they love. These animals that I spend an hour and a half with every Sunday
need to know that someone loves them. That they have not been forgotten about and it gets better.
After spending the summer with my aunt and uncle, I learned that. As I watched their newest
rescue dog Snoop open up to me after 3 years and watching his mile stones. For a dog that was
abandoned by his family and left on the street, bounced between the shelter and temporary homes,
he has finally found permanent love in our family.
Snoop s journey into our family began when his family abandoned him and his little chihuahua
brother on the side of the road. They fended for each other for days until they were brought to the
pound. From there they were separated. Where the little Chihuahua went is unknown, but Snoop,
being a pure bread German Shepherd, was taken to Missouri German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS),
a rescue center specializing in Shepherds. His white coat made him easy to love, but after the
treatment of his last family he did not easily love others. Once Snoop had come out of his shell,
not so sheepishly hiding from the shelter staff, he was moved into a foster home. Here in this foster
home he started to become the dog my family knows today. Living with another Shepherd helped

Self Control And Its Effect On Society
According to BrainyQuote, Buddha once said, To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to
one s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one s own mind. If a man
can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will
naturally come to him. Self control is the restraint from oneself and actions, particularly in one s
desires and emotions. It separates us, humans, from ancient ancestors as well as the rest of the
animal kingdom. When one has the chance to enact poorly and cause harm to others, self control
is the essential aspect one must learn to withdraw from these activities. Commonly, being able to
control one s actions provides the difference between life and death. To many people in today s
society, emotions that arise from sensitive situations may result in the use of violence in order to
receive closure. Guns, for example, are deadly weapons used to accomplish these acts, and when
people fail to yield the use of guns, problems arise. Gun control is a well disputed argument
regarding the regulations enacted upon the withdrawal from guns.
History of Gun Control and the Origins of the Problem Gun control involves laws and policies that
regulate the ownership and use of guns in order to reduce crime. These regulations control the
manufacture, sale, possession, transfer, and use of firearms in the interest of controlling violence.
One key term to become familiarized with firearms is an assault weapon.

The use of solar energy has increased exponentially over recent years. New uses for solar energy
is being discovered regularly, not necessarily on a large industrial scale but definitely in terms of

From the beginning issues with non productive group members was prominent, something that I
did not anticipate but needed to deal with, and was dealt with in a professional manner. The way
that this was dealt with was by keeping the uncooperative group members informed of updates

A major skill improved during this experience was the ability to problem solve and work through a

My role in the project
Initially, my role within the project was to research the fundamentals of a solar tracker. This
research was to gain an understanding of the overall idea of a solar tracker, also consider design

Mobile Phones And The Mobile Phone
In this day and age, it is almost impossible to not have a cell phone; the number of people who
own a cell phone is growing every year. At the end of 2011, there were almost 6 billion mobile
subscriptions. That is a dramatic increase from 5.4 billion in 2010 and 4.7 billion mobile
subscriptions in 2009 (International Tele communications Union, 2011). With the introduction
into society the cell phone established a convenient way to communicate between individuals,
and they have also connected the world in a way that was thought to be impossible before their
invention. When the mobile phone was first invented its only purpose was to be able to make a
phone call while on the go. The mobile phone has gone through a great deal of technological
advancement throughout the years. The cell phones today are called smartphones, which have
the capabilities of a computer with the features of mobile phones. While society has benefited
from mobile phones, there is a growing concern amongst a group of individuals who argue that
with this influx of cell phone technology people have become too obsessed and dependent with
their cell phone to the point where the device has had a negative impact on many people s social

avoiding face to face interaction, the way texting encourages poor grammar techniques, the

Bartolome De La Casas Summary
Introduction: History of Bartolome de la casas Bartolome de la Casas was a historian who had
Spanish origin, and he was branded a Dominican friar and a social reformer as well. He was born
in Seville in 1484 and was eventually given an official appointment as the protector of the
Indians. His appointment as the protector of Indians was greatly sparkled by his service as
resident bishop in Chiapas, a position that he was surely the first person of his kind to hold. He
was a great writer and used his writing to address the issues that colonialists committed against
the indigenous people especially in the West Indies. To this effect Bartolome de la Casas wrote
an Account on the Destruction of the Indies alongside the other document called Historia de Las
Indias . He arrived in America as a settler, and he was among the very first European to do the
same. During his stay in America, he witnessed the Spanish colonialists treat the indigenous
Americans very harshly and unfairly. Filled with fury and spirit of reformation, Bartolome de la

What Are The Factors That Affect Eating Healthy
If I had to be honest, I have always known that my eating habits could use some work. I do not
eat enough foods that are nutrient dense, and I consume too many fats. However, this also
reminds me that I have improved my habits a little. For example, Before I started college and
really started this journey towards healthy living I could have easily eaten a whole Hershey s
chocolate bar, but instead I only ate a half, and that half was not in one whole sitting. Another
example is related to the items I had for breakfast. Usually, I would get the tater tots that serve
with breakfast, but I chose to get an apple instead because I knew it would be healthier for me.
With this said, I do not eat breakfast on a regular basis. I am good about eating lunch and dinner,
but I have a bad habit of not getting a meal first thing in the morning. While I may not eat three
meals a day, I do not snack that often. There will be some days that I will have... Show more content

My parents did buy healthy foods throughout my child, but they would do so when it lined up
with their goals of eating healthy and exercising. However, eating healthy was not a common
occurrence, and has lead to me not eating healthy all the time. Another factor that has affected
my eating habits is my stress because as a student I am under a lot of stress. Between studying,
reading, and classes there is a lot to deal with. When I am stressed, I usually want to eat
something that reminds of home and is simple, but also translates into something unhealthy. The
biggest factor related to my eating habits is simply being in college. Stress is related to that, but
being in college itself is a factor since I have little control over what I eat. I can make decisions
about what to eat based on what is available. However, what is available is not always good which
makes it difficult to eat food that is both healthy and

Tutankhamun Essay
Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty 1332 1323 BC, during the period of
Egyptian history which was known as the New Kingdom or the New Empire Period. He has been
referred to colloquially as King Tut of Egypt. His original name, Tutankhaten, has a meaning Living
Image of Aten , while Tutankhamunmeans Living Image of Amun . In hieroglyphs, the name
Tutankhamun was typically written Amun tut ankh, to show reverence to the divine name of
Amun. He is possibly also the Nibhurrereya according to the Amarna letters, and likely the 18th
dynasty king Rathotis who, according to the ancient historian Manetho had reigned for nine years a

(pg. 2)
With Science and technology study, positivism was challenged and it has benefited from it. One
paradigms, Actor Network Theory, has helped spread the positivism. Actor Network Theory was
developed Michel Callon, Bruno Latour, and John Law. (pg. 81) It was created to understand social
aspects of science and technology. Actor Network Theory deals with human and non human
entities. Both entities form an association, combining with other actors to form a strong network.
These actors form a connection to push their agenda. This could be making a new scientific
discovery, or it could be stopping a company s product production. These actors work together for
their cause. It would not be a network if every member entertains their own plan.
In positivism, there are actors that push for this movement. The actors are the philosophers and
scientist. The narrative was to bring together the worlds findings. Bring everything that was
learning to grow more. Working together with the world, rather than separating the different
factions. They pushed to create a popular movement. People like the notion of sharing information
amongst all walks of life. Falsification also shared information, but it was limited. Chemist and
biologist would share their information, but would not work with a philosopher. Another group is the

Portrayal Of Women In The Media
Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, and Eartha Kitt are famously known for their hourglass figures.
Years ago, women were celebrated for their natural curvy figures. Today, if you turn on the
television or open a magazine, one comes face to face with unrealistically thin models. This
epidemic has increased the number of women who are dissatisfied with their bodies. This paper
will assess several articles, literature reviews, and papers that relate to the media s portrayal of
the ideal women s body being extremely thin. Each source elaborates on the dissatisfaction
women have with their bodies as a result of the content released in the media. Irving (2008)
defines media as a Tool used to transmit ideas, images, messages, or information to the public.
The media strategically targets adolescent females. This is specifically ages 13 18 (Steinberg
Morris, 2001). During these precious years of life, adolescents go through periods of struggle with
identity. The most prominent struggle is understanding their role in society, and conforming to
social norms. Media today offers a distorted vision of the world, and therefore makes it difficult
for adolescents to decipher what is actually realistic (Van Vonderen Kinnally, 2012). Present day,
the media has easily become the most influential factor of our culture. For instance, when a news
story, product, or service needs to be publicized where do individuals turn? Social media, television,
and magazines have become the

Character Analysis Of Maria Teresa In The Time Of The...
From weak willed to brave: The character development of Maria Teresa In her novel, In the
Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez unfolds a dramatic character transformation of the Mirabal
sister, Maria Teresa. She is detailed to be a very thoughtful character who always seem to look
out for others, especially those important to her in life. Alvarez induces this empowering
development of Maria Teresa through the usage of diction, point of view and selection of detail.
As the novel began, Maria Teresa was merely a child and she was seen as a very sweet character.
However, the revolution turned things around for her whole family. She longer perceived certain
things as positively as she would have just a few years back. She believed that the sun was shining

to know the traumatic physical pain the character had to go through, and that s not even taking
into account the dreadful emotional distress. Maria Teresa can be admittedly be described as a
weak person because she could not handle the horrible conditions the guards were putting her
through. On top of that, she mentions that the pain felt like her spirit [was] snapping loose,
soaring above [her] body and looking down at the scene (Page 255). The fact that she bring up
the actions of things snapping loose and the act of looking down emphasizes how broken Maria
Teresa feels. The snapping could be a reference to her sanity and peace breaking away little by
little. And the act of looking down is usually a sign of shame, it could be a sign that Maria Teresa
looks down upon herself and dislikes what she has become, an extremely fragile human

ORIGINS AND GEOTECHNICAL ISSUES

The origins of soil deposits on the earth s crust can reveal significant findings in the chemical and
mechanical characteristics of the soils themselves. It is important to uncover such origins to find
how and where such deposits may have formed over tens of thousands of years ago. Marine and
Lacustrine deposits are two soil types that are commonly encountered during soil exploration, both
of which are primarily traced back to either glacial o r more broadly, alluvial origins (Hunt 2005 ).
They are somewhat alike in there fine sedimentary composition and similarly can be prone to ...

The problematic behavior of marine soils also extend to more subtle, but still concerning scenarios
which can be described as potential acid sulfate soils (PASS). Potential meaning under the right
conditions can produce a harmful and corrosive acid environment. The formation and deposition of
acid sulfate soil (ASS) has occurred of the past 10 000
2000 years, after the last major sea level rise. They are commonly encountered in low lying areas
of coastline such as marine estuaries and flood plains and contain soil types of marine sediments.
The ASS s tend to lay dormant under alluvial soils or dunes until they are disturbed either by
excavation or indirectly due to lowering of the water table by changed drainage conditions.

In contrast, the lack of economic growth in the poorest countries of the world has meant that
living conditions for hundreds of millions of people are appalling by the standards of rich
countries; per capita income levels in many 21st century countries are much lower than they were
in 19th century. To understand why the human race has become so much wealthier and why our
wealth is shared so inequitably among the inhabitants of the world, we need to understand what
drives economic growth. What is Economic Growth? An increase in the capacity of an economy
to produce goods and services, compared from one period of time to another. Economic growth
can be measured in nominal terms, which include inflation, or in real terms, which are adjusted
for inflation. For comparing one country s economic growth to another, GDP or GNP per capita
should be used as these take into account population differences between countries. Economic
growths is an increase in what an economy can produce if it is using all its scarce resources. An
increase in an economy s productive potential can be shown by an outward shift in the economy s
production possibility frontier. A country s economic growth is usually indicated by an increase in
that country s gross

  • 2. The Death Of A Soul A soul is something that is hard to describe and define as it is not a physical thing. When you think above it is quite hard to be certain that human beings even have a soul because we cannot see it or have hard evidence of it. Unlike the brain, which we cannot see our own but we know for certain human beings do in fact have a brain due to the hard evidence such as brain scans and the fact that we cannot do everyday tasks without it. However, saying that, it is quite common to think that we all have a soulbecause if you can have a conscience, then we must have a soul. So how do we know if we have a conscience? Well if you feel emotions such a sadness, happiness or even anger but also have a moral sense such as knowing the difference between right and wrong then we can conclude that you have a conscience. Even though the definition of soul is different to everyone, the Greek philosopher Aristotledefines the soul as Form of the body in the De Anima. He believed that the soul is not separate from the body but rather work as one. Whereas another Greek philosopher, Plato believed according to the Republic, that the soul and the body are two different parts which is something that I believe in. and In the question Jana s soul is replaced with another soul, even though it will do the same work as the old soul but I do not believe Jana is still Jana, the person she was before her soul was replaced. Their life events may not have been grand, but they were enough to make an impact. Caesar Augustusis one example of a person in history who led a successful life. Born Gaius Octavius on September 23, 63 B.C., in Velletri, Italy. Augustus was a sickly child with few connections. Although, one connection he did have was being the great nephew of Julius Caesar . Augustus was known by three different names throughout his life. From birth to 44 B.C. he was known as Octavius, in 44 B.C. he was adopted and changed his name to Octavian and in 26 B.C. the Roman Senate conferred on him the name Augustus. His father was a senator and governor in the Roman Republic and passed away when Augustus was four years old; his mother Atai was Caesar s niece. In his younger years his grandmother Julia Ceasaris helped raise him; she was the sister of Julius Caesar. Augustus donned the toga, the Roman sign of manhood, at age 16, and began taking on responsibilities through his family connections. These incentives to do well positively reinforced my work ethic so that I was studying more and working harder to achieve good grades. I noticed as I went through school that my work ethic strengthened the more positive reinforcement I received. If I began to slip, and my effort level decreased then I would receive negative reinforcement from my teachers in the form of a bad grade, a secondary reinforcer. This would then signal me to work harder so that I would not receive the same low grade as before. The consequences I encountered from both working hard and slacking off shaped the way I behaved in school. When offered incentives to do well and negative consequences for not performing as well, I was induced to work hard and get good grades. One particular example of Operant Conditioning I remember from my early education was when my father promised my class McDonalds lunch if all of us got 100% on our spelling test. I remember our entire class studying harder than we had before to achieve a perfect score on our test. We ended up making our goal and being the highest scoring class all year for spelling tests. • 27. Ethanol As An Environmentally Friendly Fuel Essay The United States is the world s largest producer of ethanol fuel, producing over 60% of the world s ethanol in 2011, which correlates to the creation of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) in 2005. The RFS originated with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and was expanded and extended by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). The RFS requires renewable fuel to be blended into transportation fuel more so every year until it is set to reach 36 billion gallons in 2022 (Renewable). The purpose of this has widely been seen as an effort to combat environmental damage such as climate change and oil spills in addition to being a political move to be independent in creating our means of energy production. Currently, ethanol is societally regarded as an environmentally friendly fuel, being that it is produced from plant material through a series of chemical reactions. One of the most controversial issues relating to ethanol is the net energy of ethanol production. In sum, more energy is used to grow and process raw material into ethanol than is can be released by the ethanol itself. The agricultural practices that are necessary to produce the biomaterials that are converted to ethanol include planting, fertilization, tilling, watering, and harvesting, while processing the biomaterials involve transportation, fermentation, and distillation (Energy). While these processes require more energy than is able to be harvested from the resulted ethanol, and thus ethanol fuelis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Where the desperate might cut a deal with a demon, and where the world weary might find themselves crossing into another place or time. Every fool and child knows these things, but sometimes the wise forget them. The crossroads in question did not look like a crossroads to most who saw it. It looked like a simple dirt path, bisecting a field full of long grass that waved in the wind, the Earth s flowing green hair. On the path, at a seemingly random spot, there was a little town. But the townspeople could see the other half of the crossroads, as could the few who traveled upon it. The dirt path led from nowhere to nowhere, and the other road, which was made of something far less substantial than earth, led to just about any destination one could think of. And an inn had sprung up where the two roads met, as inns are wont to do. Later, a little town had built itself around the inn. The town was just like any other town, and the inn like any other. Horses brayed in their stables. Fields of crops grew. But if you were observant, and you walked along the wheat, you would notice something strange about it. It was. . . Wispy, almost. Shimmering. The Italians of the 14th to 16th century were the first to practice the use of Arabic, rather than Roman, numerals for tracking business accounts. Luca Pacioli was acknowledged as the Father of Accounting and Bookkeeping. However, he was not the one who invented the double entry bookkeeping systembut he was the one who started to spread this knowledge and the first to publish his work on this system. The principles published by him remain mostly unchanged until today. Before his work, Benedetto Cotrugli wrote Delia Mercatura et del Mercante Perfetto (Of Trading and the Perfect Trader), that touches briefly about the features of double entry bookkeeping. Chimpanzees live in man s shadow, only able to survive in places that man has not claimed for farming or timber purposes. As Goodall insinuated in the final two chapters, chimpanzees and the creatures in their habitat have much to teach us about the development of intelligence, the past of our species and its development, and modern day human psychology that is often difficult to observe. The chimpanzee lives at the mercy of man and their interests are constantly at odds. The deaths of the chimps are seen not as big of a tragedy as they are lesser than man, they are animals. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him. Self control is the restraint from oneself and actions, particularly in one s desires and emotions. It separates us, humans, from ancient ancestors as well as the rest of the animal kingdom. When one has the chance to enact poorly and cause harm to others, self control is the essential aspect one must learn to withdraw from these activities. Commonly, being able to control one s actions provides the difference between life and death. To many people in today s society, emotions that arise from sensitive situations may result in the use of violence in order to receive closure. Guns, for example, are deadly weapons used to accomplish these acts, and when people fail to yield the use of guns, problems arise. (pg. 2) With Science and technology study, positivism was challenged and it has benefited from it. One paradigms, Actor Network Theory, has helped spread the positivism. Actor Network Theory was developed Michel Callon, Bruno Latour, and John Law. (pg. 81) It was created to understand social aspects of science and technology. Actor Network Theory deals with human and non human entities. Both entities form an association, combining with other actors to form a strong network. These actors form a connection to push their agenda. This could be making a new scientific discovery, or it could be stopping a company s product production. These actors work together for their cause. It would not be a network if every member entertains their own plan. In positivism, there are actors that push for this movement. The actors are the philosophers and scientist. The narrative was to bring together the worlds findings. Bring everything that was learning to grow more. Working together with the world, rather than separating the different factions. They pushed to create a popular movement. People like the notion of sharing information amongst all walks of life. Falsification also shared information, but it was limited. Chemist and biologist would share their information, but would not work with a philosopher. Another group is the ... • 48. Portrayal Of Women In The Media Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, and Eartha Kitt are famously known for their hourglass figures. Years ago, women were celebrated for their natural curvy figures. Today, if you turn on the television or open a magazine, one comes face to face with unrealistically thin models. This epidemic has increased the number of women who are dissatisfied with their bodies. This paper will assess several articles, literature reviews, and papers that relate to the media s portrayal of the ideal women s body being extremely thin. Each source elaborates on the dissatisfaction women have with their bodies as a result of the content released in the media. Irving (2008) defines media as a Tool used to transmit ideas, images, messages, or information to the public. The media strategically targets adolescent females. This is specifically ages 13 18 (Steinberg Morris, 2001). During these precious years of life, adolescents go through periods of struggle with identity. The most prominent struggle is understanding their role in society, and conforming to social norms. Media today offers a distorted vision of the world, and therefore makes it difficult for adolescents to decipher what is actually realistic (Van Vonderen Kinnally, 2012). Present day, the media has easily become the most influential factor of our culture. For instance, when a news story, product, or service needs to be publicized where do individuals turn? When Maria Teresa expresses that she had never known such terror...chest was so tight...could barely breathe (Page 254) the reader is saddened to know the traumatic physical pain the character had to go through, and that s not even taking into account the dreadful emotional distress. Maria Teresa can be admittedly be described as a weak person because she could not handle the horrible conditions the guards were putting her through. On top of that, she mentions that the pain felt like her spirit [was] snapping loose, soaring above [her] body and looking down at the scene (Page 255). The fact that she bring up the actions of things snapping loose and the act of looking down emphasizes how broken Maria Teresa feels. The snapping could be a reference to her sanity and peace breaking away little by little. And the act of looking down is usually a sign of shame, it could be a sign that Maria Teresa looks down upon herself and dislikes what she has become, an extremely fragile human ... Marine and Lacustrine Soil Types Marine and Lacustrine Deposits ORIGINS AND GEOTECHNICAL ISSUES Robert Bartus s2721227 | 4 104ENG Geotechnical Engineering Practice | August 19, 2012 1 The origins of soil deposits on the earth s crust can reveal significant findings in the chemical and mechanical characteristics of the soils themselves. It is important to uncover such origins to find how and where such deposits may have formed over tens of thousands of years ago. Marine and Lacustrine deposits are two soil types that are commonly encountered during soil exploration, both of which are primarily traced back to either glacial o r more broadly, alluvial origins (Hunt 2005 ). They are somewhat alike in there fine sedimentary composition and similarly can be prone to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is for these reasons engineers must assess and investigate potential regions of quick clay deposits to evaluate their threat and danger to the community. Figure 2 (Pg.2) and Figure 3 (below) illustrate the magnitude and threat of these quick slides, there catastrophic nature and unstable ground connditions they present. Figure 3: Quick Clay Landslide Anatomy (Canada Natural Resources) The problematic behavior of marine soils also extend to more subtle, but still concerning scenarios which can be described as potential acid sulfate soils (PASS). Potential meaning under the right conditions can produce a harmful and corrosive acid environment. The formation and deposition of acid sulfate soil (ASS) has occurred of the past 10 000 2000 years, after the last major sea level rise. They are commonly encountered in low lying areas of coastline such as marine estuaries and flood plains and contain soil types of marine sediments. The ASS s tend to lay dormant under alluvial soils or dunes until they are disturbed either by excavation or indirectly due to lowering of the water table by changed drainage conditions. Marine and Lacustrine Deposits Robert Bartus s2721227 4 Acid sulfate soils are marine deposits which are high in iron sulfide content, becoming exposed to oxygen produces an oxidation reaction which forms sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid presents relatively low pH levels of 4 1, which p roduce highly acidic

What is Economic Growth? An increase in the capacity of an economy to produce goods and services, compared from one period of time to another. Economic growth can be measured in nominal terms, which include inflation, or in real terms, which are adjusted for inflation.
