The speech signal is typically represented in electrical pulses that are amplitude modulated by the
envelope of the signal. In the CIS (continuous interleaved sampling) strategy (Wilson et al.,
1991), the speech signal is divided into a number of bands and the envelope of each band is
extracted and used to modulate the pulse trains. Speech/Voice is a pressure wave, which is
afterward converted in to numerical values in order to be digitally processed. Converting
pressure wave in to numerical values needs some hardware devices: a microphone allows the
pressure sound wave to be converted in to an electrical signal. A sampling at time intervals yields
voltage values, and finally an analog to digital converter quantizes each signal in to a specific
number. Normally, a sampler and an analog to digital converter are integrated in to audio card,
where the basic stages of the signal processing are

Jane Eyre Comparison
Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
I was very surprised that there aren t many women writers in our text book. So, I have been
interested in a woman writer, Charlotte Bronte. She dealt with a problem about women and their
lives. Most of women at that time didn t have lots of power. But Charlotte Bronte published her
novel and became famous. Charlotte Bronte judged herself. small and plain and Quaker like . Jane
Eyre s character very similar with Charlotte Bronte s one. Jane Eyre is based on Charlotte Bronte s
own life. We can know about women s position at that age. I think it is important novel for student
who studies feminism and literature. And I think it isn t quiet different with now days.
I resisted all the way. Jane Eyre sates at the beginning of Chapter 2. It contains all thing she wanted
to tell. Jane Eyre is a young woman wholly unprotected by social position, family, or independent
wealth; she is without power. She was not equal with males even Rochester. Jane Eyre had to resist
all about these things. There are many things that she had to resist. She feels a patriarchism of a
society through the educations and love. And she against that kinds of thing and find out her
identity. Throughout the novel, she expresses her opinions on the ... Show more content on

It broke the prejudice that women are not intellectual and sentimental. Most of the people regard
women as a person who didn t act objectively. But she leaved him right after when she realized
that Rochester got married to the mad woman. Rochester had intended to dishonestly marry her.
Morality is a advantage to Jane. Jane will not rebel against God or lose her self respect and
become Rochester s mistress when she finds out that he is already married. And Jane has image
of resuscitation. It is woman s own image. Jane saved his life. And she got married him who
became blind and lost his arm. And finally he can find his eye sight. It shows clearly that women s

The Impact Of Technology In Airport Security
Sixteen years and billions of dollars invested in the growth of aviation security after the terrorist
attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, threats to airport security continuously
progress as the United States aviation security encounters numerous changes. Since the September
11th attacks, the Transportation Security Administration, also known as the TSA, initiated their plan
to ensure the safety of nearly 2 million air passengers at approximately 440 airports nationwide.
(Carraway) Although the TSA implemented new training procedures, the aviation screeners fail to
apply their skills effective during searches and checkpoints. In the general public, many claim that
technological screening procedures will be more effective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is not logical to invest a significant amount of federal funds into airline security employment if
there is a large discrepancy between their current performances and expected results. However,
technology utilizes a significantly less amount of funding, but continues to perform its tasks. The
Trump administration plans to eliminate three airport security programs that were implemented
after the 9/11 terrorist attack: Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response program that conduct
random sweeps through airports and other modes of transportation, Behavior Detection Officer
program that identifies potentially high risk individuals exhibiting behavior indicative of
excessiveness then re routes them for additional screening, and the grant program to support local
police at airports, specifically, likely target cities. (Halsey) These plans indicate that the Trump
administration believes that the termination of these programs will increase the budget for the
Department of Homeland Security, but does not reduce the number of TSA officers at
checkpoints. There is also more funding for the government to invest in other areas to improve
the security for the general public. There is also a current decline in airport staffing. In this
report, the TSA admits that TSO staffing levels fell from 47,147 full time employees to 42,525
between 2013 and 2016; concurrent passenger volume rose 15 percent in this period, while the
TSA only hired 373 workers to

Machines In John Steinbeck s Grapes Of Wrath
Men create machines. Machines destroy men. Will this be the vicious cycle that ends mankind?
With machines taking over, it is difficult to see any other possible outcome. Machines are more
efficient, more intelligent, and overall better workers than the humans who created them. They
have already dominated over the farming industry, destroying homes and families, as seen in John
Steinbeck s Grapes of Wrath . In this novel, the Joad family is forced from their home by efficient
tractors that have taken over all the farms in their area. They must travel across America from
Oklahoma to California, leaving their home and everything they have ever loved behind. On their
journey, they face death of loved ones, starving children, and the struggle... Show more content on

land and the humans. They destroy life without care, barreling through people s property.
Moreover, in The Robots are Coming , Dargan personifies machines by describing them as animals:

Personal Finance Syllabus
Should all high schoolers take courses in personal finance?
#19, By: Creedance
ARTICLE 1: Yes, Education system overhaul should include a new emphasis on financial literacy.
This article was all for making personal finance instruction a top concern. It was all about how
many high schools are failing badly when it comes to teaching students about how to manage
money and only 17 states require high school students to take courses in personal finance. Nan J.
Morrison believes that for kids to be successful, they don t need to learn advanced ideas.
However she believes, students do need to know how to open a bank account and how much they
need to save each month to reach their goals, she said. They also should know how much money
they will need to earn to pay back the money they borrow. She believes that for kids to enter
adulthood ready and prepared they should have to take personal finance making them aware of how
to open a bank account and many other things you need to know to be a successful adult.

How Did Marco Polo Not Go To China
Marco Polo was an Italian Merchant who lived in 13th century Venice, a wealthy city with many
other merchants like himself. Marco Polo came from a family of merchants and became one
himself. His father was Niccolo Polo. The Italian merchant/traveler lived to be 70 (1254 1324)
and was famous for traveling to the eastern world exploring it and coming back to tell the tale.
One of the first Europeans to travel to China. He exposed numerous Europeans to the Eastern
world with the book The Travels of Marco Polo. For many Europeans this was the first time they
got to get an idea of what China and other Eastern countries were like. This is what many people
think of when they think of Marco Polo. Yet many do not know that there is a debate between
scholars and historians. This debate asks Did Marco Polo even go to China? A puzzling question
indeed. What makes people think that Marco Polo never even went to China? You may be asking
yourself. Well there are numerous clues and faults in Marco Polo s book and what he has reported.
Well first of all before we speculate whether or not Marco Polo actually reached China, we need to

size combinations, and hole angles from 80 degree from vertical to 100 degrees from vertical on
the efficient removal of gas kicks. Results show that annular velocities of up to 3.4 ft/sec may be
required to efficiently remove gas from near horizontal wellbores with relatively large annular

well kill operations. The planning process can be summarized as follows: 1. Determine the
capacities of the mud/gas separation equipment to determine the maximum circulation rate that this
equipment can tolerate. 2. Compare this rate to the optimum circulation rate to remove gas from the
horizontal portion of the hole. a. If the minimum rate to remove gas from the horizontal section
exceeds the maximum rate that can be handled by the surface equipment, the kill operation should
begin at the higher kill rate to remove gas

The island of Puerto Rico is located in the Greater Antilles in the waters of the Caribbean Sea. The
northern and eastern shore of the island faces the Atlantic Ocean, while the southern and western

Variation Of Life Expectancy
Introduction
One interesting question in mind is, How long can I live? Knowing how long one can live, or at
least have an idea about it may change people s way of living. People nowadays have grown more
conscious of their health, the environment their living in and their lifestyle.
According to Max Roser, life expectancy has increased rapidly since the Enlightenment. In a pre
modern poor world, life expectancy was around 30 years in all regions of the world. In the early
century, life expectancy started to increase in the early industrialized countries while it stayed
low in the rest of the world. Over the last decades, global inequality of life expectancy has
decreased. Since 1900, the global average life expectancy has more than doubled, and is now
approaching 70 years.
Life expectancy refers to the number of years a person is expected to live base on the statistical
average. It differs by geographical area, and depends on several variables such as gender, lifestyle,
access to healthcare, economic growth rate, environment, etc. The concept of life expectancy has
been used in different fields such as plant or animal ecology, and actuarial science.
This project aims to determine the factors that could mostly explain the variation of life expectancy
per country through regression analysis. The explanatory variables considered are real GDP
growth rate, health care index, pollution index, traffic index, literacy rate and gender. The response
variable is the actual

The experiment had four different temperature 12 МЉ, 51 МЉ, 75 МЉ, 111 МЉ. In the
experiment it was about how temperature effects the air pressure of a basketball. The one thing that
would change the experiment is recording the bounce because participants had to get the bounce
and the measurement. The highest bounce was the hot ballthat was 111 МЉit bounce high. The
lowest bounce was the frozen ball that was 12 МЉ because it barely bounced.
Introduction
Many athletes use basketballs, soccer balls, and volley balls to play their sports. The balls need to
have the right temperature and air pressure inside in order to work best. When a ball drops gravity

Different surfaces could also be tested. Further research could benefit athletes as they could
expect more consistent performance in sports balls. The research could be expanded to improve
the quality reliability, safety and performance of vehicle tires as well. The next problem addressed
could be whether different surfaces could affect the rebound of a ball or the performance of a tire.
More research in this question could result in better athletic performance indoors and out. It could

What is natural beekeeping ?
The question should rather be, is any beekeeping natural? and the answer must be that, in nature,
only bees keep bees.
As humans, our interest in them has been primarily selfish: we saw them as the source of a
uniquely delicious, sweet substance and paid little heed to their pervasive presence in the natural
world, where, largely unnoticed, they went about their business of farming flowers.
Farming? In the same way that horticulturists select plant varieties for breeding, so have the bees
and other pollinators selected, over millions of years, the plants that provide them with food in the
forms of pollen and nectar and so have greatly influenced the colours and patterns of our
landscapes and the scents and flavours of the herbs and the hedgerow fruits that we have taken and
further developed into the food we eat.
In this sense, bees may indeed be thought of as farmers. They have been carefully and skillfully
selecting plants from among the available mutations and crosses for more

Cannabis Issues
Issues of Cannabis
What is Cannabis? Wikipedia defines Cannabis (marijuana) as a plant used for psychoactive drug
or medicine. Cannabis has tetrahydrocannabinol referred to as THC. THC is the chemical that is
responsible for most cannabis effects. There are many ways to use cannabis such as smoking,
vaping, eating, and extracting. Moreover, cannabis is used for medical, spiritual, and recreational
uses. Americans should accept cannabis because it has many benefits.
Cannabis can be used as a treatment for medical related issue. Marijuana can help patients with
Cerebral Palsy (CP). CP is a group of disorders that involves brain and nervous system functions.
There is no cure for CP but marijuana is one of the options of managing it. Jacqueline Patterson, a

against the makers and distributors of designer drugs. (1) Creating a War on Drugs is not a solution.
Due to the simplicity of manipulating a product on the banned substance list, chemical change
formulations outpace efforts to impose control. (Stock, S. Web) This is why The Analog Act

Change: An Exploration of the Role of Values, Journal of Change Management,
ABSTRACT One of the most remarkable aspects of organizational change efforts is their low
success rate. There is substantial evidence that some 70% of all change initiatives fail. This article
explores the argument that a potentially significant reason for this is a lack of alignment
between the value system of the change intervention and of those members of an organization
undergoing the change. In order to test this assertion, the article begins by reviewing the change

However, the problem with such explanations is that implicitly or explicitly they assume that
there is a one best way to manage change and that failure arises from not adhering to it (Burnes,
1996). Confusingly, there are quite a few one best way approaches to change (Collins, 1998; By,
2005). For example, Kanter (Kanter et al., 1992) offered her 10 commandments for successful
change, Pugh (1993) has his four principles of change and Kotter (1996) put forward his eight step
model. Two, however, have stood out from the rest. From the 1950s to the 1970s, organization
development (OD) tended to be seen as the best way to manage change (French and Bell, 1999;
Cummings and Worley, 2005). In the 1980s and 1990s, the emergent/processual approach came to
dominate the п¬Ѓeld, at least among academics (Dawson, 1994; Orlikowski, 1996; Weick, 2000).
Nevertheless, in recent years there has been a growing recognition that one or even two approaches
to change cannot cover the vast variety of change situations (Storey, 1992; Stickland, 1998;
Pettigrew, 2000; Burnes, 2009a). As Dunphy and Stace (1993, p. 905) argued:
. . . managers and consultants need a model of change that is essentially a situational or contingency
model, one that indicates how to vary change strategies to achieve optimum п¬Ѓt with the changing
environment.

The Fusion of Content and Form in Sonnet 29 Essay examples
The Fusion of Content and Form in Sonnet 29
One of the most popular of the fixed poetic forms in English literature is the sonnet. Attributed to
the Italian poet Petrarch in the fourteenth century, the sonnet is still used by many contemporary
writers. The appeal of the sonnet lies in its two part structure, which easily lends itself to the
dynamics of much human emotional experience and to the intellectual mode of human sensibility
for argument based on complication and resolution.
In the last decade of the sixteenth century, sonnet writing became highly fashionable following the
publication of Sir Philip Sydney s sonnet sequence Astrophel and Stella, published in 1591. Sonnet
sequences were widely read and admired at this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A different rhyme scheme and thus a different convention of logical and rhetorical organization
determines the differences between the two sonnet forms. In the Petrarchian sonnet the problem is
solved by reasoned perception or a meditative process.
The Shakespearean sonnet maintains the basic two part structure of conflict and resolution, now
presented in fourteen lines of three quatrains and a concluding rhyming couplet. Each quatrain
presents a further aspect of a problem, conflict, or idea. The resolution occurs in the last two of a
rhyming couplet, achieved through logical cleverness that summarizes or ties together what has
been expressed in the three quatrains. The rhyme scheme, subject to variation, is abab, cdcd, efef,
gg in iambic pentameter.
The sonnet sequence is a gathering together of a number of sonnets to present a narrative or
examine a larger theme. Shakespeare s sequence, like Sydney s, was intended as a series of love
poems to celebrate the poet s affections for a young male friend. The poems were collected and
published as a sequence in 1609, though initially they were private poems meant for a small circle
of writers and friends, not for publication. There are 154 sonnets in the sequence. Some scholars
speculate these are ones that remain from a longer work, thus accounting for the sonnet s problems
in chronology, thematic development, and connections between individual poems. Other scholars
speculate that not all

Tile Work
Incorrect tile placements are common mistakes for the DIY projects. Wrong positions and gaps
are hard to hide. Start out by working from the center of the space. Working from the center to
outside edge keeps the tile layout looking the same. Only one way to fix this mistake, remove the
tile and start over.
Grouting
There are two types of grout; sanded and unsanded. Sanded grout is used for most home
improvement projects. Unsanded is used for small tile joints, stone or glass tile because the sanded
grout can damage this type of material. Make sure you are using the recommended manufacturer s
grout material; otherwise, you may find yourself replacing the tiles.

Vietnamese American Communication
Achieving communication competence in a culturally diverse society is necessary for personal
and professional success. I took the interview of my Vietnamese American friend named Anh
Bui. I chose him as my interviewee because for me he was the source of both American and
Vietnamese communication traits. However he considers himself more of an american guy
because he was born and grew up in california. We found a place to sit at the Titan Student Union.
I started the interview by doing the shape color material experiment on him that we watched video

Mars Versus Earth
Mars VS Earth
Mars and Earth are both part of the four terrestrial planets that orbit within the inner solar system
and are from the same origin. They are both made of rock and metal. Mars has an extremely weak
magnetosphere however, so probably doesn t have a liquid metal core. Earth on the other hand
does have a liquid metal core, which provides its strong magnetosphere. Solar radiation can
therefore directly penetrate Mars, while Earth can reflect solar radiation. Mars is much further from
the sun than Earth making it much colder. This distance from the Sun also makes a big difference
in the length of their years, with Mars year being about twice as long. Further, Mars orbit around
the sun is more eccentric than Earth s, which leads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Perhaps this will give us a cleaner and simpler way to live, because we are creating only what we
need, and only using what s necessary. I believe political design will be heavily influenced by
efficiency and necessity. And because it s going to be the year 2060, much of our work will be
handled by intelligent machines, so I believe politics will be focused less on crisis issues, and
more on how to manage and foster creativity, and maximize leisure and fulfillment of curiosities

believe the very nature of this structure will mandate a greater sense of cooperation. In this setup
I would see that wars starting and shooting bombs at each other would be a self defeating
strategy. I am seeing that s the politics of war and conflict should be minimal if any. Also the
argument about land ownership will definitely matter if we have a limited dome area. But since

Seinfeld s Impact on American Culture Essay
Seinfeld s Impact on American Culture
Jerry Seinfeld s television sitcom, Seinfeld, which went off the air in 1999, is still one of the most
culturally pertinent shows today. The show dealt with little nuances of American society. A puffy
shirt, for example, could be the main subject for an entire show. This show, which was derived
from Jerry Seinfeld s observational humor, was voted as the Greatest Show of All Time by TV
Guide in 2002. According to the show s official website, the ratings for the syndicated version of
Seinfeld are ahead of many of the current primetime comedies ( Seinfeld 2/5).

Of his obsessive nature his mother said: He never wanted just a piece of chocolate cake, it was the

Soon Seinfeld s easy to relate to humor gave way to regular appearances on The Tonight Show and
Late Night with David Letterman. Other more gimmicky comedians failed the test of time, but
Seinfeld s steadfast style made his popularity bloom. Despite national exposure, Seinfeld still
stayed close to his roots, continuing to play at small venues as well as on television. With jokes
like: They say Tide cleans bloodstains. I say if you ve got a T shirt with bloodstains, then maybe
laundry isn t your biggest problem ( Jerry Seinfeld 3/7) it s not hard to see why Seinfeld caught on.
In 1990, Seinfeld, a sitcom based on Seinfeld s humor, debuted as a summer replacement show.
Seinfeld allowed characters on the show to embody some of the idiosyncrasies his stand up comedy
had observed. Seinfeld played himself on the show, and the other characters on the sitcom were
based on friends and acquaintances in Seinfeld s real life. The show was set in a recognizable
Manhattan with specific storefronts and locales in the cut scenes and dialogue. The plot of an
episode of Seinfeld usually centered on the daily menial tasks of the characters and the little quirks
that they observed along the way. Seinfeld, widely

Why Is Characterization Important In The Veldt
Why is characterization important? Having realistic characters contribute in
connecting the readers to the story. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s
The Veldt, realistic characters are a product of the environment through the author s use
of descriptive writing with a forbidding or positive tone, use of literary devices and strong
character development. This indicates that characters are realistic regardless if the
setting is familiar or unfamiliar to the reader.
Author uses descriptive writing to characterize a person, thing or place in a way
that an image is created in the reader s mind. Tone plays an significant role in
descriptive writing as it can either be forbidding or favorable. In The Veldt, authors use
descriptive writing to help readers understand the unfamiliar setting. The narrator
creates an image of the nursery in a favorable tone by saying The hot straw smell of
lion grass, the cool green smell of the hidden water hole, the great rusty smell of
animals, the smell of dust like a red paprika in the hot air. (Bradbury 1) The use of
descriptive writing in The Veldt helps the reader understand and familiarize themselves
with the unusual setting which contributes in making the character seem realistic. In this
specific example, tone also contributes in helping readers understand the narrators
state of mind while describing the nursery. In Eleven when Rachel did not want the
sweater anywhere near her, [She] shoved the red sweater to

He brings the reader into his unblemished world, where everything is pure. The setting in The Last

Romanticism is also seen in the characters in the novel. The characters are manifestly impossible.
(Pattee 212) Hawkeye is one of these impossible characters. He is an ideal character who is pure
and untainted by the corruption of society. Hawkeye, like Cooper, is a romantic in that he has a
deep respect for nature. Cooper uses Hawkeye to celebrate the creative spirit of the individual.
Hawkeye, Chingachgook and Uncas are characters all folklores are about. They are the heroes

Based on the graphs, Pleurotus pulmonarius grew faster in the medium of MEA followed by

well but followed by PDA and then GYMP. The accumulative growth for Pleurotus pulmonarius
in MEA medium is 2.11875, PDA medium is 1.393333, and GYMP is 2.166666667. The

GYMP is about 2.85 (2.852777778) cm.
In triplicates of Pleurotus pulmonarius, white mycelium colonies were formed in both MEA and
PDA media, but white and orange colony were observed in GYMP medium. The MEA medium

Writing really emerged separately in three regions independently of one another. Those regions are
Central and South America, Mesopotamia, and Asia. It is generally accepted that writing
(Cuneiform) came about in Mesopotamia as a means of documenting transactions and keeping

like pro bloggers used the word. Although now, Let me explain to you what niche is? A Niche can
be described as when we have created a blog only on a single topic like I am running my blog and

It has been observed on many such blogs that SEO is not being followed. Such blogs devoid of
SEO optimized contents cannot live for long, an update can kill them totally and if you feel updates

The HRIS I have chosen is the training and development system. The business drivers behind e
learning include reducing training costs, increasing employee flexibility and control over learning
/training, helping them manage their work/life balance, better tracking and management of
employee training. An HRIS can help employees track the training opportunities. Many vendors
offer online training modules to offer employees training and development opportunities. This can
assist in recruiting and retention of high potential employees. The challenge for HR executives is to
manage this technology to maximize and optimize the benefits and results of training the
employees to be more productive in the restaurant business. I researched and selected two vendors
namely NotoWare Performance Support Software by trijsolutions at www.trijsolutions.com/manage
employee training/ and the other eLeap Learning and Training Management by eLeap at
www.eleapsoftware.com. The first vendor provides NotoWare Software that provides the
employees ongoing training and quick information on the job to be performed. This application
handles initial training requirements and post training support and also provides job specific
training, which will benefit Castle Family Restaurant. The second vendor provides eLeap software
that helps the organization create, deliver, track and document training. eLeap s powerful LMS

The Causes And Effects Of The Enslavement Of Africa
There were a lot of causes of the enslavement of Africans but the effects that it left had a much
bigger impact, even in our lives today. In fact the effects caused by the Africans enslavement are
still somewhat around to this day. Some are even huge political issues that consume our country
and its social structure. The causes of all this started way back in the Atlantic world, from the 15
to 1850 s, when traders and colonists went to Africa and took Africans out of their societies. When
the Americas were first settled they began to fish and hunt and eventually learned how to farm.
However these farmers could not tend to all of these fields all by themselves, they needed workers.
Soon they found out that there had already been slavery... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the fact that their skin color was different was another deciding reason they chose them. For
example if they run away they couldn t just blend in with the people of the community and get
out of working for their master. Also there was already slavery in Africa so there were plenty of
slaves already they just needed to bring them to America. But the Europeans weren t the only
ones trying to take advantage of the African slaves, so were the muslims. However the Muslims
weren t nearly as harsh on their slaves as the Europeans were. They let their slaves have
freedoms and rights and even allowed them ways to get out of slavery. Such as marrying into the
owner s family or into someone else s. As for the Europeans slaves, they had no rights, barely
any food, and terrible living conditions. Along with that they used the gang system as for how
they divided the work among the slaves, while the Muslims slaves had the task system which
meant they did the job assigned and had time to do whatever they wanted as long as they stayed
on the property and didn t go against any of their masters rules. As a result of the African slave trade
, the african societies they took them from had been left in ruins. There was no one left for there
to be any societies anymore. Some slaves were taken by force so there was most likely some
physical damage to their structures as well. Also many of the slaves they had were beaten to death
or worked to

Organizational conflict
Conflict is defined as any situation in which incompatible goals, attitudes, emotions, or behaviors
lead to disagreement or opposition between two or more parties (Nelson, 2013, p.472). In my line
of work, conflict is important and even relished; a collision of ideas, different approaches to achieve
goals, and passionate emotions are essential to group and/or individual creativity. Functional conflict
can produce new ideas, learning, and growth among individuals. When individuals engage in
constructive conflict, they develop a better awareness of themselves and others. Because it tends
to encourage creativity among individuals, this positive form of conflict can translate into
increased productivity (Nelson, 2013, p.472). Focused conflict centered on achieving common
goals often generates innovation. I enjoy the passion of my Gen Y employees, and I have
learned much from them by leveraging this conflict. Yes, some might see me as one who starts
trouble, but my intention is to bring out the best of those in my sphere of influence. Over the
years, I have learned a few key factors in functional conflict: 1) Debate along the way don t hold
back and explode down the line, 2) Maintain goal perspective don t attack individuals attack the
goal, and 3) Celebrate differences embracing individual uniqueness generates value. One effective
technique for resolving conflict is to appeal to a superordinate goal in effect, to focus the parties on
a larger issue on which

Franz Marc Research Paper
In the early 1900 s both realism and abstractionism formed important parts of America s artistic
culture. The goal of the artistic movement of Realism is accuracy and truth without illustrating
subject matter in an idealized manner. The goal of Abstractionism is an almost opposite
achievement in illustration. An accurate reproduction of the subject matter is not important; the
artist s rendering of the subject matter is expressed by relaying a core characteristic with emotions
and feelings by use of color and form. Although these American artistic movements have
presentational differences, they share stylistic and subject similarities in technique and content.
Several of this era s artist s works illustrate these concepts. Soltes (2011) first touches upon
abstraction by discussing:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His work is cubist, his work is labeled as orphic, and his work has elements of fauvism within it.
If we look at him, we realize he influenced some Americans who by 1912 went back and founded
a movement based on his style in America, except that they called it synchronism. Then he was
invited by Franz Marc (1880 1916) to come east to Germany and exhibit with Marc s group.
Franz Marc is one of the great German Expressionists of the early 20th century, who was a
founder, together with Kandinsky (1866 1944) of a group called the Blue Rider (Blaue Reiter) in
Munich and used color to symbolize emotion and feeling in a way that we recognize as derived
ultimately from that principle established perhaps at first by Gauguin (1848 1903) back in the late

Essay The Making of Apollo 13
The Making of Apollo 13
When making Apollo 13, Ron Howard s intention was to make his film as exciting as possible. He
wanted to make a chemistry on set that would show throughout the film. Ron wanted Apollo 13 to
be realistic, as well as exciting and enjoyable.
Within the characters, Ron wanted to capture their real personalities. This was done by the actors
(Tom Hanks and Kathleen Quinlan) meeting the real life Jim and Marilyn Lovell. They each spent
a day in their home to help capture the right characteristics and get a real idea how they felt.
To make the film realistic and scientifically correct, actors and the film crew went to NASA in
Florida and watched real Apollo 13 footage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She wouldn t let others see how she really felt; she wanted to be strong in front of her family.
Fred Haise did say the phrase sure was a good ship when they landed in the Pacific Ocean, Ron used
this to help portray Fred s feelings and character.
The layout of mission control in the film is very similar to the real layout of mission control in
Houston.
Ron and the actors also met the real crew and used the astronaut s descriptions to help make the
scenes more realistic. They spoke to the astronauts and spent time with them so they could learn,
use and understand the terminology they had to use.
Ron made the film accurate by researching facts, using real events and phrases, talking to NASA
and astronauts.
In addition to being an entertaining film, it will go into records as being a source of accurate data
in the future Dave Scott (astronaut).
The whole film is not completely accurate. Ron wanted to make the film dramatic and enjoyable,
so he created the relationship between Jack and Fred. In real life, Jack and Fred were good friends;
they had no problems with each other. Ron created the tension between them to add some drama to
the storyline.
We are also manipulated in the scene where Jim tells Ken that he won t be going on the mission
and that he will be replaced by Jack. The cut of Ken s reaction of his bad news, to Jacks

Child Labor Research Papers
Child labor is an important issue, that many people are not aware of. Child labor is occurring in
many countries, and we need to prevent it. I know some people may disagree with me, but child
labor is a serious issue. Children who work at a young age are more likely to quit school early,
they work in toxic hazardous conditions, and they receive harsh punishment from their employers.
Americans should not support businesses that use child labor to make goods because if they do
they would be encouraging the use of children to work day and night making products to please
other countries. Children s developmental process is hurt if they start working at a young age.

This means that shocks that force parents to send their children to work might have a permanent
effect on the child s future earning potential, (Child labor: myths, theories, and facts). When
children start working early in their childhood, it is most likely that they are in poverty and trying to
support their families, but by working at such a young age is taking away from the children s
developmental process. When children do not attend school anymore, to work they are losing a
lot of their potential. Americans should not support businesses where children have to quit school

poverty, or difficult living situations/conditions. Child labor tend to be a phenomenon related to
poverty and difficult social conditions rather than the perverse preferences of the parents, (Child

The Role Of Ethics In The Great Gatsby
Ethics and Morals
Morals are the principles on which one s judgments of right and wrong are based. Ethics are
principles of right conduct. These two words are closely related. I think morals and ethics should
be followed. In the book The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald characters display
immoral actions. The characters simply aren t bothered by some of their bad choices with work
ethics, marriage, and common sense. In the book, good work ethics are poorly disregarded.
Meyer Wolfsheim? No, he s a gambler. (Fitzgerald 73) Gatsby tells Nick this at lunch and
explains how Wolfsheim is responsible for the fixing of the 1919 world series. He gambled
knowing the outcome would be in his favor, and he got a lot of money off of cheating.
Wolfsheim s act clearly shows how much he cares about work ethics. Tom brings up the fact that
Gatsby was a bootlegger and he infers that s where all his money came from. I found out what

South Afric A Country Of The Country
Many years ago, Africa grew several powers from the control of European countries. The Western
countries send emissaries to explore and establish trade with native, but in that case same other
attract on working people having come there to work and live and to government the country when
they need. The word imperializem in my attention came as a domination by one country of the
political, economic or cultural life of another country. We have to be clear with what happened in
Africaand the region which represents a great rich country for materials and get attention of many
European country for goods and wealth potential. Europian estabilished colonies in the African
coastal region became more aggresive later on once they were expanding into other lands. We can
see that in the names Africa s countries have under the colony. For example, the Belgian Congo
instead of The Congo, Anglo Egypyian Sudan istead of Sudan, or German Southwest Africa
Namibia insted of Namibi. Those countries have both Europian and African names which means
that they belong and under which power rule they are. However, The African countries nowadays
tried to take way the kind of patterns they have, but the Congo, Cameroonand Central African
Republicare still suffering from the legacies of western imperialism. The Congo has a very
interesting story behind it. The King of Belgium was given the Congo during the Berlin
Conference. He used the Congo as a storage place for many of his possesions. This

Parexel Case Comparison Paper
Introduction While social media platforms present avenues for the freedom of expression, the
rules or regulations that guide the privilege may sometimes be curtailed or applied wrongly.
Employees and organizations are facing the dilemma on what to post or not to post on these
platforms. An employee may decide to air something through these public arenas without the
knowledge that their actions may surpass their rights and thus infringe on others rights or cause
damages to other people (Boyce, 2014). On the other hand, an organization may control the
communication of employees on social media platforms to the extent that it violates their rights
and privileges. It is in this respect that this paper explores the Facebook and Praxel cases as they
are related to these matters. Comparison and Contrast between the Two Situations The Facebook
and Parexel cases provide differences in the way that protected concerted activities are applicable
under the National Labor Act. For instance, in the Facebook case, American Medical Response

Summary Of The Framingham Heart Study
While sleep may do the body good too much increases the risk of dementia. The Framingham
Heart Study showed a twice as likely chance to get dementia 10 years later if an individual slept
for more than 9 hours. The likely hood also seemed to increase by education levels. The
Framingham Heart Study or FHS followed the sleeping pattern of a large number of adults for ten
years. Researchers from the Boston University School of Medicine,BUSM, and from FHS were
able to include that oversleeping was probably only a symptom of dementia. This meant that
reducing sleep will not change the probable outcome. This has lead to the researchers to instead
convince people to have themselves screen soon after noticing unusual sleeping patterns. It may
lead to an early diagnosis of dementia which can help the patient prepare for a possible future....

Hazel Grace Lancaster In The Fault In Our Stars
Whenever you read a cancer booklet or a website or whatever, they always list depression as a
side effect of cancer. But, in fact, depression is not a side effect of cancer. Depression is a side
effect of dying (3). Hazel Grace Lancaster is a 16 year old teen with stage 4 thyroid cancer and
mets in her lungs. She has managed to live due to an experimental drug called Phalanxifor. Hazels
days are filled with going to the doctor, watching ANTM(Americas Next Top Model) and reading
An Imperial Affliction over and over, til she quotes the book on a daily basis. But, all those weary
days change when she meets the charming Augustus Waters at a cancer support group. Now Hazel s
life takes an unexpected detour on the path to self discovery. Throughout the book The Fault In
Our Stars, Hazel Grace Lancaster is portrayed by John Green as a witty, resilient and selfless young
woman.
In the book, Hazel has shown much of her witty personality. In one of the first pages of the book,
Hazel introduces her humoristic personality when she goes to the Cancer Support Group with this
thought. Like, I realize that this is irrational, but when they tell you, you have say, a 20 percent
chance of living five years,....you figure out that s one in five...and think, as any healthy person
would: (I gotta outlast four of these bastards.) (5). Hazel was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when
she was thirteen, unfortunately for her, she got her period three months later. Like Congratulations!

Speech/Voice is a pressure wave, which is afterward converted in to numerical values in order to be digitally processed. Converting pressure wave in to numerical values needs some hardware devices: a microphone allows the pressure sound wave to be converted in to an electrical signal. A sampling at time intervals yields voltage values, and finally an analog to digital converter quantizes each signal in to a specific number. The Impact Of Technology In Airport Security Sixteen years and billions of dollars invested in the growth of aviation security after the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, threats to airport security continuously progress as the United States aviation security encounters numerous changes. Since the September 11th attacks, the Transportation Security Administration, also known as the TSA, initiated their plan to ensure the safety of nearly 2 million air passengers at approximately 440 airports nationwide. It is not logical to invest a significant amount of federal funds into airline security employment if there is a large discrepancy between their current performances and expected results. However, technology utilizes a significantly less amount of funding, but continues to perform its tasks. The Trump administration plans to eliminate three airport security programs that were implemented after the 9/11 terrorist attack: Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response program that conduct random sweeps through airports and other modes of transportation, Behavior Detection Officer program that identifies potentially high risk individuals exhibiting behavior indicative of excessiveness then re routes them for additional screening, and the grant program to support local police at airports, specifically, likely target cities. (Halsey) These plans indicate that the Trump administration believes that the termination of these programs will increase the budget for the Department of Homeland Security, but does not reduce the number of TSA officers at checkpoints. There is also more funding for the government to invest in other areas to improve the security for the general public. There is also a current decline in airport staffing. In this report, the TSA admits that TSO staffing levels fell from 47,147 full time employees to 42,525 between 2013 and 2016; concurrent passenger volume rose 15 percent in this period, while the TSA only hired 373 workers to ... Knowing how long one can live, or at least have an idea about it may change people s way of living. People nowadays have grown more conscious of their health, the environment their living in and their lifestyle. According to Max Roser, life expectancy has increased rapidly since the Enlightenment. In a pre modern poor world, life expectancy was around 30 years in all regions of the world. In the early century, life expectancy started to increase in the early industrialized countries while it stayed low in the rest of the world. Over the last decades, global inequality of life expectancy has decreased. Since 1900, the global average life expectancy has more than doubled, and is now approaching 70 years. Life expectancy refers to the number of years a person is expected to live base on the statistical average. It differs by geographical area, and depends on several variables such as gender, lifestyle, access to healthcare, economic growth rate, environment, etc. The concept of life expectancy has been used in different fields such as plant or animal ecology, and actuarial science. This project aims to determine the factors that could mostly explain the variation of life expectancy per country through regression analysis. The explanatory variables considered are real GDP growth rate, health care index, pollution index, traffic index, literacy rate and gender. The response variable is the actual ... The question should rather be, is any beekeeping natural? and the answer must be that, in nature, only bees keep bees. As humans, our interest in them has been primarily selfish: we saw them as the source of a uniquely delicious, sweet substance and paid little heed to their pervasive presence in the natural world, where, largely unnoticed, they went about their business of farming flowers. Farming? In the same way that horticulturists select plant varieties for breeding, so have the bees and other pollinators selected, over millions of years, the plants that provide them with food in the forms of pollen and nectar and so have greatly influenced the colours and patterns of our landscapes and the scents and flavours of the herbs and the hedgerow fruits that we have taken and further developed into the food we eat. In this sense, bees may indeed be thought of as farmers. They have been carefully and skillfully selecting plants from among the available mutations and crosses for more ... There is substantial evidence that some 70% of all change initiatives fail. This article explores the argument that a potentially signiп¬Ѓcant reason for this is a lack of alignment between the value system of the change intervention and of those members of an organization undergoing the change. However, the problem with such explanations is that implicitly or explicitly they assume that there is a one best way to manage change and that failure arises from not adhering to it (Burnes, 1996). Confusingly, there are quite a few one best way approaches to change (Collins, 1998; By, 2005). For example, Kanter (Kanter et al., 1992) offered her 10 commandments for successful change, Pugh (1993) has his four principles of change and Kotter (1996) put forward his eight step model. Two, however, have stood out from the rest. From the 1950s to the 1970s, organization development (OD) tended to be seen as the best way to manage change (French and Bell, 1999; Cummings and Worley, 2005). In the 1980s and 1990s, the emergent/processual approach came to dominate the п¬Ѓeld, at least among academics (Dawson, 1994; Orlikowski, 1996; Weick, 2000). Nevertheless, in recent years there has been a growing recognition that one or even two approaches to change cannot cover the vast variety of change situations (Storey, 1992; Stickland, 1998; Pettigrew, 2000; Burnes, 2009a). As Dunphy and Stace (1993, p. 905) argued: . . . managers and consultants need a model of change that is essentially a situational or contingency model, one that indicates how to vary change strategies to achieve optimum п¬Ѓt with the changing environment. • 21. The Fusion of Content and Form in Sonnet 29 Essay examples The Fusion of Content and Form in Sonnet 29 One of the most popular of the fixed poetic forms in English literature is the sonnet. Attributed to the Italian poet Petrarch in the fourteenth century, the sonnet is still used by many contemporary writers. The appeal of the sonnet lies in its two part structure, which easily lends itself to the dynamics of much human emotional experience and to the intellectual mode of human sensibility for argument based on complication and resolution. In the last decade of the sixteenth century, sonnet writing became highly fashionable following the publication of Sir Philip Sydney s sonnet sequence Astrophel and Stella, published in 1591. Sonnet sequences were widely read and admired at this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A different rhyme scheme and thus a different convention of logical and rhetorical organization determines the differences between the two sonnet forms. In the Petrarchian sonnet the problem is solved by reasoned perception or a meditative process. The Shakespearean sonnet maintains the basic two part structure of conflict and resolution, now presented in fourteen lines of three quatrains and a concluding rhyming couplet. Each quatrain presents a further aspect of a problem, conflict, or idea. The resolution occurs in the last two of a rhyming couplet, achieved through logical cleverness that summarizes or ties together what has been expressed in the three quatrains. The rhyme scheme, subject to variation, is abab, cdcd, efef, gg in iambic pentameter. The sonnet sequence is a gathering together of a number of sonnets to present a narrative or examine a larger theme. Shakespeare s sequence, like Sydney s, was intended as a series of love poems to celebrate the poet s affections for a young male friend. The poems were collected and published as a sequence in 1609, though initially they were private poems meant for a small circle of writers and friends, not for publication. There are 154 sonnets in the sequence. Some scholars speculate these are ones that remain from a longer work, thus accounting for the sonnet s problems in chronology, thematic development, and connections between individual poems. • 28. Why Is Characterization Important In The Veldt Why is characterization important? Having realistic characters contribute in connecting the readers to the story. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s The Veldt, realistic characters are a product of the environment through the author s use of descriptive writing with a forbidding or positive tone, use of literary devices and strong character development. This indicates that characters are realistic regardless if the setting is familiar or unfamiliar to the reader. Author uses descriptive writing to characterize a person, thing or place in a way that an image is created in the reader s mind. Tone plays an significant role in descriptive writing as it can either be forbidding or favorable. In The Veldt, authors use descriptive writing to help readers understand the unfamiliar setting. The narrator creates an image of the nursery in a favorable tone by saying The hot straw smell of lion grass, the cool green smell of the hidden water hole, the great rusty smell of animals, the smell of dust like a red paprika in the hot air. (Bradbury 1) The use of descriptive writing in The Veldt helps the reader understand and familiarize themselves with the unusual setting which contributes in making the character seem realistic. In this specific example, tone also contributes in helping readers understand the narrators state of mind while describing the nursery. The characters simply aren t bothered by some of their bad choices with work ethics, marriage, and common sense. In the book, good work ethics are poorly disregarded. Meyer Wolfsheim? No, he s a gambler. (Fitzgerald 73) Gatsby tells Nick this at lunch and explains how Wolfsheim is responsible for the fixing of the 1919 world series. He gambled knowing the outcome would be in his favor, and he got a lot of money off of cheating. Wolfsheim s act clearly shows how much he cares about work ethics. Tom brings up the fact that Gatsby was a bootlegger and he infers that s where all his money came from. I found out what your drug stores were. The word imperializem in my attention came as a domination by one country of the political, economic or cultural life of another country. We have to be clear with what happened in Africaand the region which represents a great rich country for materials and get attention of many European country for goods and wealth potential. Europian estabilished colonies in the African coastal region became more aggresive later on once they were expanding into other lands. For example, the Belgian Congo instead of The Congo, Anglo Egypyian Sudan istead of Sudan, or German Southwest Africa Namibia insted of Namibi. Those countries have both Europian and African names which means that they belong and under which power rule they are. Parexel Case Comparison Paper Introduction While social media platforms present avenues for the freedom of expression, the rules or regulations that guide the privilege may sometimes be curtailed or applied wrongly. Employees and organizations are facing the dilemma on what to post or not to post on these platforms. An employee may decide to air something through these public arenas without the knowledge that their actions may surpass their rights and thus infringe on others rights or cause damages to other people (Boyce, 2014). On the other hand, an organization may control the communication of employees on social media platforms to the extent that it violates their rights and privileges. It is in this respect that this paper explores the Facebook and Praxel cases as they are related to these matters. Comparison and Contrast between the Two Situations The Facebook and Parexel cases provide differences in the way that protected concerted activities are applicable under the National Labor Act.
