Georgette is a semi-sheer, crinkly fabric that is traditionally made from silk but can also be made from synthetic fibers. It was created by a Parisian dressmaker named Georgette de la Plante and is soft, drapable, and often used for scarves and flowing garments. Chiffon is another sheer fabric that can be made from silk, cotton, nylon, polyester or rayon. It has a faint shimmer and soft drape. Both georgette and chiffon are created using the plain weave technique where one thread goes over and under in an alternating pattern.
