2. Introduction
Genre and conventions is a way of categorizing films under a certain name depending on things
like sound,settings,etc.
I chose horror as my genre some examples of horror movies are:

Saw
Ghost ship
Unfriended
3. Setting
The place or type of surroundings where something is positioned or where the film takes place in.The
setting is important any movie as it creates the mood for the movie every genre should choose its setting
carefully as it makes a difference and catches the audiences attention.The conventions for my opening
sequences would be a dark and dry place as It is a horror movies! And this will help the audience to be into
the storyboard and genre theme. I will mostly follow the dark sad theme and for sure will not have any
funny or light colours in any scenes and specially in the opening scene to show the audience that it is horror
4. Themes
The subject of a talk, piece of writing, exhibition, etc. A theme is like track that the movie will
move on with. Some themes of horror might be zombies, ghosts, etc. I will follow the ghosts
theme in my opening scene

5. Characters
Characters are important as they are the main eye spot for the whole movie they are the ones
representing the actions of the story. According to the survey I did it seems that people prefer
women to be the main character so my main character is a teen girl I will make sure that the main
character is a teen girl
6. Narrative
A narrative of a story is the main storyline of the opening sequence my narrative is that the
girl had extra classes after school till when it is dark then she began hearing strange sounds
and ten shadows chasing her till she sees a ghost in a form of a girl and once she sees it a
flashback happens and she remembers this girl that was her best friend but the same girl
committed suicide 3 years ago in school and the shots ends by both of them staring to each
other!
7. Style
I will be mainly using modern style and modern locations according to my survey shown
below. For example the school corridor will be one of he modern locations used
I will use a lot of dark lighting to give a mysterious impact for the audience
In chasing scenes I will use hand held cameras but in any other scene a fixed in place with
tripod camera will be used
A lot of dark make up for the characters and specially “farida” the ghost to make it seem
real
