2. TARGET AUDIENCE
• The target audience for my opening sequence
could be suitable for both men and women but
men might be preferring horror more as it has
more action which is more liked by men than
women , this might be a stereotypical idea as there
a lot of females that would love watching horror so
my target audience would be both and in an age
bracket of (16+) most people involved in watching
these kinds of movies enjoy the leisure of being
scared and being attached to a creepy hook. Active
audience theory argues that media audiences do
not just receive information passively but are
actively involved, often unconsciously, in making
sense of the message within their personal and
social contexts which means that every audience
might have a different view concerning every
scene.
3. PURPOSE OF MY OPENING SCENE
• I wanted to scare my audience in my
opening sequence and that is what I did as
I used enigma that would hook the
audience and at the same time a scary
hook that will make them wanting to know
more and also worried about what could
happen next as a lot of unexpected things
happened and will happen. Also the whole
opening sequence had the idea of wanting
audience to keep on watching.
4. WHAT IS THE IMPACT ?
• I think the opening is setting up narrative for the rest
of the film as it gives the audience more than one
option about things that could happen through out
the movie as from the first few minutes their brains
gave a lot of new unexpected actions to be seen , as
there was main disruption that took place in the first
few minutes which is the girl hearing strange voices
and the message that she got from an unknown
phone number on her phone sending her a picture
with her friend with a caption underneath saying ‘Do
you remember me?’
5. WHAT ARE THE MAIN ELEMENTS YOU
FOCUSED ON WHILE FILMING?
• In my opening sequence I worked on two elements that i personally thought were the
most important and catch audience’s attention which are sound and cinematography.
First the cinematography I was mainly using close up shots to express how scared the
main character was after seeing the ghost and to express her feelings and emotions in
general regarding any action happening and a camera technique I was using was
tracking which is like the camera following the character from the back to give impact
that someone is following this girl wherever she goes which gives a worrying mood. In
the last shot of the opening sequence an over the shoulder shot was used while the
girl was standing in front of the ghost to show her facial expressions and the reason of
this expression which was the ghost. Another element i focused on was sound as
sound is a main thing that helps audience in focusing on the acting and also gives a
certain theme for the scenes as a whole.
6. DISTRIBUTION
• A film distributor is responsible for the marketing of a film
which is in charge of The distributor may set the release
date of a film and the method by which a film is to be
exhibited or made available for viewing; for example,
directly to the public either theatrically or for home
viewing. A distributor may do this directly, if the distributor
owns the theaters or film distribution networks, or through
theatrical exhibitors and other sub-distributors. A limited
distributor may deal only with particular products, such as
DVDs or Blu-ray, or may act in a particular country or
market. For my film it should be viewed in the cinemas first
but will need a catchy trailer to make people aware of the
film
