2. • I genre I have chosen to research is Thriller. Thriller uses a combination
of suspense, tension and excitement to grab any audiences attention and
keep them on the edge of their seat throughout. Thriller films tend to be
adrenaline rushing, fast paced and used to stimulate the viewers moods
giving them a high level of anticipation. There are many stereo types that
are initially thought about when considering thriller such as a gritty
villain, blood, gore, killing, death etc. When thinking of typography and
music choice which are associated with this specific genre the
typography is very blunt and bold in comparison to a romance where the
typography is more flowy and bouncy. The Music has a slow tempo
which creates a mysterious effect also with the anticipating beat. Most
Thriller/Horror films incorporate a very clever plot, slowly revealing the
villain, for example for killings taking place. I believe this would be very
hard to do however studying more into this genre I believe it would
become a lot easier.
Horror/Thriller
4. We are firstly introduced to the title of the film.
Its bold, in capitals, making it come across as
very important. The biggest thing that stands
out is the contrast between the black and red,
black indicates death and red indicates blood.
Also the typography is looks as if its been
slashed/damaged this then relates back to what
the audience may think will happen to the
characters in the film.
This is then followed by a series of titles. There
is a contrast between the black and white. This
is a very special shot because it introduces the
characters or even the victims. Also in each
corner of the photo there are red markers, these
indicate that there is danger also because they
are surrounding the people in the pictures this
indicates there is danger around them.
5. In this shot the thing that stood out them most
was the use of the dark black sky, this is used to
indicate something bad is going to happen
giving it a bad connotation. This dark sky is a
representative of the danger which is going to
lurk over the neighbourhood because of the
dark clouds lurking over the house.
In the opening sequence we are also introduced
to a little girl. We instantly know this is the
victim and the main target. We know this
because she is by herself, venerable and close
to being home. During this clip she is singing a
nursery rhyme, incy wincey spider, this is very
symbolic because it comes across as very eerie.
6. This image is very clever because the sheets are
blown and the villain appears. Its clever
because they have used a calm setting but
twisted it to be scary. During this you know
something creepy is going to come up because
whilst the sheets are blowing you hear the
sound of the villain (clown) laugh. The laugh is
evil!
A close up of the clown pops up, and because it
is a symbol of a happy clown, and he looks
very friendly and because he is surrounded in
white sheets it also shows purity and he looks
very nice, but later on in the film you realise he
is very evil, and he looks friendly to guide
children to him with things like balloons and by
doing this he then gets to kill them !!
7. Our first ideas were that we wanted to pick a genre, we wanted something
different that hadn't been done before. Initially me and George came up
with a western and coral and Sarah like the idea of doing a different
genre.
As a group we then came to the conclusion about doing a horror/thriller
and from looking at series of opening sequence for example it, this then
allowed us to decide we were going to achieve this in a different light.
From this I mean we wanted it to include a clever plot, suspense and
tension, something to keep our audience on the edge of their seat.
