THE ACTION - OPENING SCENE
• The events: There a girl that wakes up in an unknown room. Looks around, there‟s loads
of pictures of people on the wall most of them crossed out. She see‟s a body and then
picks up the image and matches them two together. Looks in the mirror and there‟s a
    ghost.
THEMES
• Genre: Psychological Thriller/supernatural
• Themes: Search for identity/ past/ truth, betrayal, trust, revenge, fear, relationships.
• Amnesia is a convention that a majority of psychological thrillers feature.
THE PLOT –PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER/
SUPERNATURAL
• Girl wakes up in an unidentified room with amnesia. Crosses pictures of people on the
    wall including herself unknowingly why.
• Realizes she has killed people because there‟s a body on the floor which matches one of
the victims in the photo crossed out. – she knows they have hurt her. There‟s a ghost that
    helps her along the way.
• The person who has hurt the most is herself – doesn‟t realize this until the end.
• Helper Is the betrayal.
• AT THE END – Through her journey she realises that its an old ritual where it is
necessary for her to get rid of the helper to burn the body to get rid of her. Through
obsticals , flashback and help she realises she finds out that the body is situated in the
aement where she first found her self in the unidentified room. She ills the body and turns
    it into ashes
THE NARRATIVE THROUGH TODOROR‟S THEORY
• We are challenging Todoror‟s traditional structure by starting with an enigma code which
is in fact according to Todoror‟s the recognition instead of the equilibrium at the beginning.
• It begins with the recognition of her killings at various points in her life, which results in
the flashback in the opening of the film which leads to her confusion. This yet again
contrasts Torodor‟s ideal structure as we have chose the „attempt to repair‟ to be the
second stage of our narrative whereas Todoror‟s structure represents this stage as the
    fourth.
• The person who has hurt the protagonist the most is herself – doesn‟t realize this until the
end, this is where our “disaster” situates as the audience, at this stage are very engaged
with the character. Todoror‟s considers “disaster” to be the third stage. We decided to
leave this stage as the third stage because we were influenced by him.
• Helper Is the betrayal.
• At the end the new equilibrium takes place.
THE CHARACTERS
• Teenage female: aged 18. – the reason for this is because society is becoming more child
centered therefore, the audience will immediately psychologically feel a connection with
her. Also, we decided to challenge convections and cliché‟s
SETTING & CHOICE OF LOCATION
• The location of the opening scene would be set in an
unidentified dark room, which automatically creates a
mysterious feeling and would code enigma.
• To fulfil our requirements of what the setting should look
like , we’ve found a room that we will use for the opening
scene. In order for the film to be the best possible scene for
our particular script, we’ll present the room in such a way
that it will fit the genre and make the opening scene more
    attention grabbing.
MISE-EN-SCENE
• The colours used would generally be dark and gloomy colours to set the scene and
builds the atmosphere in the opening scene which again codes enigma.
• However, other significant colours present would definitely be highlighted to show
the importance of the colour In that specific shot. For example, the colour red which
indicates blood would be very vibrant red and would contrast the gloomy
    background.
• The dress code of the main character in the scene would be casual clothes in such
bad condition, where the audience could notice that she’s been through something
    atrocious.
• There would be minimum lighting, just enough for the to be able to tell what's going on the
film. Any source of natural light would be blocked off, to indicate the genre of the film.
• Overall, in the opening scene, we‟d like to present the atmosphere of a shady room with
an unknown character who‟s identity would be straight forward or not revealed much to
    the audience.
THE CAMERA WORK
• Close up shots will be used to grab the audiences attention and make them feel that they‟re
involved but also to show certain things in more detail.
• Panning is used to show the room from the characters perspective. This would not only
answer their questions but would also prepare them for upcoming events.
• Voyeurism is used to build tension and leaves the audience with questions, such as „ who‟s
    being spied and why?‟
THE EDITING
• Several quick shots are used; however we‟ll make sure that it doesn‟t look like a trailer, as
we‟ve realised this is the aspect of the opening scene that has been found to be difficult.
• Cross cutting is used to show two perspective of the film.
CERTIFICATING RATING

• I researched the different certificate ratings and decided that the age rating for this
film will be 15 instead of 12 because it’s violent but is extreme enough to be rates
as a 15 as the main protagonist in the film herself is young, so we are targeting a
    teenage audience.
• Our film contains nudity, briefly when we see her victim but not in the opening scene,
however over all we think it should fit the age rating 15 more. Also the use of language in
the film will also be inappropriate for younger kids, this is why it will definitely be a 15 and
not a 12. As this film contains self-harm, and attempt of suicide; and the way in which the
victims are murdered in the film is also very gruesome which determines the age rating of
    this film.
