Abstract: Employee absenteeism is a persistent problem in many countries; it tends to reduce the quality of education and results in poor performance of students. Despite the extensive research on the subject of Gender as personal characteristic and absenteeism, little research has be done in schools in spite of its importance. The purpose of this study was todetermine the influence of Gender on employee absenteeism in Transnzoia County. The specific objectives of the study was: to determine the relationship between gender and employee absenteeism. Social exchange theorygrounded the study. A survey research design was used for this study. The institutions studied was selected using stratified random sampling technique. The two strata consideredwere public and private secondary schools with a sample size of 168. A linear regression model was constructedto establish the relationship between employee absenteeism and Gender from each institution that was sampled, the respondents was the employee of the schools that included both teaching and non-teaching. The Gender wasidentified as the independent variable, while absenteeism as the dependent variable Data was analyzed statistically using SPSS version 19. Both descriptive and inferential statistics was used to test the hypotheses. The study found thatgender had no significant effect on absenteeism, The results of the study form the basis for better management of institutions The finding of this study will help the managers of school in endorsing the validity of incorporating personal factors in interventions in recruitment, selection, training and staff development processes. The study suggests that future research can make use of longitudinal design to adequately examine the causal status of personal factors on absenteeism.

Farm school serve as a mechanism for farmer to farmer extension at every block or tehsil. Role performance of the respondents towards ATMA has shown its prescribed role and their relative success or failure. A study was undertaken to know role performance and relationship between the selected characteristics and role performance towards farm school. The study was conducted in eight farm schools of Sri Ganganager District of Rajasthan with a sample of 160 farmers working on farm school. The findings inferred that majority (68.75%) of the respondents of Farm School fall in the category of moderate performance of role followed by 25.00 and 06.25 per cent of them fall in the poor and good role performance categories respectively. The result clearly indicates that the farmers were highly influenced by the farm school of ATMA project running in their area.

ABSTRACT: This study explores Work-Life-Balance among academic staff in an Open Distance Learning institution. A qualitative case study is used. Data for the research was collected from 16 academic staff using purposeful sampling. Academics describe the work-life experiences in the context of five overarching themes: (a) time demands, (b) ideal academic (c) career advancement (d) technology, and (e) work environment. This analysis revealed that academics’ work-life experiences are driven by a dearth of time and an excess of roles. Their involvement in multiple, interdependent roles although enriching through career advancement, presents ongoing time-based conflicts due to intense pressures of work. The tension associated with juggling roles significantly impacts their personal well-being and career satisfaction. Recommendations for this study are twofold; those that aid the university management towards more poignant work-life balance policies in the university and the need to conduct more research in Work-Life-Balance in Open Distance Learning institutions.

It was also planned to look into the influence of certain demographic factors in predicting work satisfaction. Job Satisfaction and Faculty Turnover Intentions: A Case of Pakistani Univers...IOSRJBM
Retaining faculty members has been a problem in many universities for decades. When competent teachers quit, they depart with critical knowledge and experience that are essential for maintaininga competitive advantage. The aim of this study was to measure the impact of four facets of job satisfaction on turnover intentions of faculty members of different universities of Rawalpindi/Islamabad. A 16-item, selfadministered questionnaire was used to gather data on independent and dependent variables. In questionnaire, researchers used 5 point Likert scale for variables to measure respondent’s possible responses. 110 questionnaires were completed and returned back. Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression tests were used to test the hypothesis. The results showed that the three facets of job satisfaction i.e. remuneration, supervisory support and work life policies have significant and negative relationship with turnover intentions while recognition has insignificant relationship with turnover intentions and this relationship did not support the researchers’ prediction. Results have been discussed andrecommendations have been made for universities’ administrations.

The research has revealed that the occupation status of working mothers had a significant difference in work family conflict. The Research also revealed that the working mothers in the private sector have a greater work family conflict than others. The study was conducted through a descriptive research design. Sixty one non-teaching employees of Kitale National Polytechnic were the target population. The whole population formed the sample size. A questionnaire was the main tool for primary data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics and regression analysis were used in interpreting the collected data. The study will be able to answer the hurdles that non-teaching employees face while performing their tasks. The findings established in this study will create a path to improved performance of non-teaching employees not only in Kitale National Polytechnic but all the national polytechnics in Kenya.

The aim of this longitudinal study was to Relationship between Achievement Motivation and Academic Achievement in English among High School Students. A sample of 300 students participated in the study. Results of structural equation modeling showed that mastery goals approach and avoidance were indirect predictors of both behavioral and cognitive engagement through seeking help from teachers. Performance goals avoidance, but not approach orientation were associated with cognitive engagement through help seeking behaviors. Overall, these results suggest that achievement goals are key drivers of changes in academic engagement in early high school and that their contribution is explained by seeking help from teachers. Job Satisfaction and Faculty Turnover Intentions: A Case of Pakistani Univers...IOSRJBM
Retaining faculty members has been a problem in many universities for decades. When competent teachers quit, they depart with critical knowledge and experience that are essential for maintaininga competitive advantage. The aim of this study was to measure the impact of four facets of job satisfaction on turnover intentions of faculty members of different universities of Rawalpindi/Islamabad. A 16-item, selfadministered questionnaire was used to gather data on independent and dependent variables. In questionnaire, researchers used 5 point Likert scale for variables to measure respondent’s possible responses. 110 questionnaires were completed and returned back. Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression tests were used to test the hypothesis. The results showed that the three facets of job satisfaction i.e. remuneration, supervisory support and work life policies have significant and negative relationship with turnover intentions while recognition has insignificant relationship with turnover intentions and this relationship did not support the researchers’ prediction. Results have been discussed andrecommendations have been made for universities’ administrations.

Working mothers provide a remarkable contribution to the development of our countrys economy. There are many changes in womens lives in the modern era. the present life of Working mothers is extremely challenging. The work family conflict has now evolved as an essential and universal problem for working mothers in todays world. This study set out to research significant differences in work family conflict across the occupation status of working mothers. The sample comprises 210 working mothers from the north Kerala region. Data was collected through a field survey by using a structured questionnaire. Collected data has been analyzed by using various statistical tools like one way ANOVA and Bonferroni Post hoc test. The research has revealed that the occupation status of working mothers had a significant difference in work family conflict. The Research also revealed that the working mothers in the private sector have a greater work family conflict than others. This result validates earlier research findings, where the occupation status had a significant influence on work family conflict among working mothers. Abstract: The study aimed at analyzing the factors influencing non-teaching employees’ performance in Kitale National Polytechnic. Non-teaching employees play a significant role in achieving the goals of an institution. The study was guided by the following research objectives: -to examine the effect of training on non-teaching employee’s performance at Kitale National Polytechnic, to analyze the effect of organization culture on non-teaching employee’s performance at Kitale National Polytechnic, to determine the effect of working environment on non-teaching employee’s performance at Kitale National Polytechnic and to evaluate the effect of motivation on non-teaching employee’s performance at Kitale National Polytechnic. The study was conducted through a descriptive research design. Sixty one non-teaching employees of Kitale National Polytechnic were the target population. The whole population formed the sample size. A questionnaire was the main tool for primary data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics and regression analysis were used in interpreting the collected data. The study will be able to answer the hurdles that non-teaching employees face while performing their tasks. The findings established in this study will create a path to improved performance of non-teaching employees not only in Kitale National Polytechnic but all the national polytechnics in Kenya.

The aim of this longitudinal study was to Relationship between Achievement Motivation and Academic Achievement in English among High School Students. A sample of 300 students participated in the study. Results of structural equation modeling showed that mastery goals approach and avoidance were indirect predictors of both behavioral and cognitive engagement through seeking help from teachers. Performance goals avoidance, but not approach orientation were associated with cognitive engagement through help seeking behaviors. Overall, these results suggest that achievement goals are key drivers of changes in academic engagement in early high school and that their contribution is explained by seeking help from teachers. Impact appraisal of organizational culture on employee’s performanceAlexander Decker

Consequently an aggregate of two hundred and seventy questionnaires were distributed non- academic staff of BASUG based on systematic random sampling and data collected is analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of employee engagement on employee retention. Employee engagement is a complex management concept that is becoming increasingly important. This helps organizations to take advantage of benefits associated with their organization. Overwork is a negative phenomenon that limits employee productivity. This study investigated the impact of employee engagement on employee retention and the mitigating relationship between employee engagement and employee retention. As a result, we found that there is an intermediary relationship between job satisfaction and employee engagement and intention to leave. This means that while an employees job satisfaction increases as an employees work commitment increases, this work commitment tends to make the employee more willing to volatility. The sampling method chosen in this study was probabilistic sampling, as the researchers chose a descriptive study design. In this study, researchers collected data from respondents using a simple random sampling method lottery method . Using an interview design she collected a sample of 60 people. This research was designed to explore the impact of favourable Quality of worklife (QWL) on Socio-psychological aspects of workers and make suggestions to the policy makers to improve the QWL and the factors of socio-psychological aspects of weaving mill workers. This present study concentrated on QWL of the workers of weaving mills (shuttle-less power looms) in specific and found the relationship between the prevailing factors of Quality of Worklife (QWL) and its impact on socio-psychological factors of workers’ attitude and then how the weaving mill workers are behave in groups with present work environment. There are five principal socio-psychological factors are identified here, such as Job involvement, workers’ behaviour pattern, sense of competence, response to family and physical activity in work. The researcher has used both primary and secondary data and they were analysed with appropriate statistical tools. It is found that the existing QWL factors influence 75% on the attributes of socio-psychological of the workers. This survey clearly indicates that the existing quality of worklife in weaving mills is positively influencing the socio-psychological aspects of the workers. The present study has a few limitations. Based on the study, analysis of data and the findings, some suggestions have been given. It is solemnly believed if the various measures suggested are fully implemented; the weaving mills in Tamilnadu will get an exemplary position on achieving better QWL of the workers and improve the socio-psychological aspects of workmen.

Abstract: This study sought to establish factors affecting management of performance appraisal among public secondary schools in Trans Nzoia West Sub-County. The study sought to find out effects of training, professional ethics practices, monitoring and evaluation capacity in performance appraisal and the effect of ICT use on performance appraisal. The study used a cross sectional survey research design. Data was collected from a sample of 42 schools out of 94 schools. The respondents were 42 Principals, and 122 teachers who are committee members. Likert scale questionnaire contained closed ended questions whereas the open ended questions solicited more answers from the respondents. Data analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Descriptive analysis was used as well as inferential statistics which included Pearson’s correlation coefficient and ANOVA. Data which was categorical was presented as frequencies with their corresponding percentage. This study has described a number of topical issues related to performance appraisal in public secondary schools in Trans Nzoia West Sub-County. In summary, the first objective revealed that the committees of public schools within Trans Nzoia West Sub-County have inadequate training on performance appraisal regulations and procedures. The committee members highlighted that vigorous training be conducted on performance appraisal. For the second objective, the findings showed that professional ethical practices ought to be entrenched among members of the committee. On the third objective, the researcher concludes that even though ICT use has never been fully adopted for performance appraisal in public schools, its implementation would lead to proper functioning of appraisal functions and speeds up performance appraisal activities and hence brings efficiency and integrity. On the fourth objective the findings was adopting Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks for performance appraisal in schools, the Ministry of education should ensure that the functions of performance appraisal are monitored and evaluated frequently and appropriately.

Correlates Of Job Security and Health Management On Employees Intentions To L...IJSRED
This document summarizes a study that examined the relationship between job security, health management, and employees' intentions to leave private secondary schools in South-South Nigeria. The study surveyed 835 employees and found that job security and good medical provision were most important in reducing turnover. Specifically, job security had the strongest correlation with intentions to stay (r=0.86), followed by health care management (r=0.82). The combination of job security and health care management had the overall highest correlation with intentions to stay (r=0.63). Impacts of Sportsmanship and Altruism on Casual Employees’ Performance: Case ...inventionjournals
The main purpose of this study was to ascertain the impact of sportsmanship and altruism on casual employees’ performance, a case study of Public Universities in Kenya. Questionnaires were used as data collection tool and a sample population of 225 was taken from five public universities with a response rate of 73%. The data was analysed using SPSS version 16.0. The reliability test of the instrument was tested by using alpha Cronbach and ranged between 0.711 and 0.723.The findings of the study showed that sportsmanship significantly correlated positively with casual employees’ performance (r 2 = 0.064, p < 0.05; β = 0.253, p < 0.05) similar with altruism which correlated significantly with casual employees’ performance (r 2 = 0.320, p < 0.05; β = 0.566, p < 0.05).On mediating the impacts of work environment on casual employees’ performance with sportsmanship and altruism, the coefficient of determination R2 showed a positive change. This therefore indicates that work environment mediates significantly positively with sportsmanship and altruism constructs on casual employees’ performance in Kenyan public universities.

ABSTRACT : The study aimed to evaluate the employability of the graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in
Economics of Surigao del Sur State University – Tandag Campus from 2011 to 2016. Specifically, the
conducted study was administered in the municipalities of Surigao del Sur during the academic year 2016 -
2017. This study used the simple frequency, percentage, ranking, weighted mean and modal value to determine
the employability of the graduates under study. The respondents of this study were the BA – Economics
graduates from 2011 to 2016. Out of 107 total graduates, 84graduates answered the questionnaire. Majority of
them were single and located in the City of Tandag. Most of the respondents were male who graduated in school
year 2010 – 2011. Noted that among the 18 multiple responses of the respondents were receiving first job’s
gross monthly earnings of less than 10,000 and those who were locally employed answered that their present
employment is still their job after graduation.
This study examined the relationship between effective communication and staff commitment at the School of Finance and Banking in Kigali, Rwanda. A survey was conducted of 78 staff members using a questionnaire to assess perceptions of communication and commitment. The results showed a weak but statistically significant positive correlation between effective communication and staff commitment. This implies that higher levels of effective communication are linked to increased staff commitment. However, prior reports found staff commitment to be low at this institution. The researchers aimed to determine if communication influences commitment levels in order to help address issues of low retention and motivation among employees.
Recruitment Practices And Staff Performance In Public Universities: A Case St...QUESTJOURNAL
ABSTRACT: Recruitment, as a human resource management function, is one of the activities that impact most critically on the performance of any organization irrespective of its size and location. Public Universities, known to train professionals that exhibit transformative leadership and successfully run blue-chip companies have equally suffered from rampart industrial unrest and human resource malpractices across Kenya. Could it be a unique trend of organizational deviance that could be reflecting absence of a well executed staff recruitment practice? While it is understood and accepted that poor recruitment decisions continue to affect organizational performance and limit goal achievement, knowledge about this aspect in Public Universities remains scanty. The aim of this study was to address this gap by evaluating how recruitment practices affect performance of administrative staff in Public Universities using Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kenya as a case reference. A cross-sectional survey design was employed while sampling strategy was a blend of multiphase, stratified and purposive sampling. A sample size of 124 out of 1150 comprised mainly of administrative staff was used and that a questionnaire was the principal tool of data collection. Results were analyzed using frequency tables, mean, standard deviation and simple linear regression. The study found that a recruitment policy existed at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kenya and that both external and internal recruitment practices were used to recruit employees at the University. However, it was noted that most of the university employees are recruited through media advert, internal advertisement, through transfers and promotions. The results of the regression indicated that recruitment practices are a significant predictor of employee performance, which was explained by 32% of variance and a moderate relationship captured by beta weight value of 0.57. On effectiveness of the recruitment policy, only 30% rated it as effective while 62% were indifferent and 8% rated it ineffective. The study concluded that although a significant relationship between recruitment practices and employee performance existed, it’s effectiveness and therefore positive impact on employee performance depended on employees’ positive perception and rating. It’s recommended that the Universities should avoid biasness in the recruitment process as this will negatively impact on employee performance.

This dissertation examines the impact of human resources practices on teacher retention. The study identifies hygiene factors that contribute to teacher turnover as perceived by human resource directors. It also explores effective retention practices used by districts and challenges faced by HR directors in retaining teachers. Survey data was collected from 103 HR directors and analyzed to address the research questions. The results found that personal reasons were the most commonly cited factors for teachers staying or leaving within the first two years. No significant relationship was found between hygiene factors and the socioeconomic status of districts. The study concludes with recommendations for further research.

Abstract: Employee absenteeism is a persistent problem in many countries; it tends to reduce the quality of
education and results in poor performance of students. Despite the extensive research on the subject of Gender as
personal characteristic and absenteeism, little research has be done in schools in spite of its importance. The
purpose of this study was todetermine the influence of Gender on employee absenteeism in Transnzoia County.
The specific objectives of the study was: to determine the relationship between gender and employee absenteeism.
Social exchange theorygrounded the study. A survey research design was used for this study. The institutions
studied was selected using stratified random sampling technique. The two strata consideredwere public and
private secondary schools with a sample size of 168. A linear regression model was constructedto establish the
relationship between employee absenteeism and Gender from each institution that was sampled, the respondents
was the employee of the schools that included both teaching and non-teaching. The Gender wasidentified as the
independent variable, while absenteeism as the dependent variable Data was analyzed statistically using SPSS
version 19. Both descriptive and inferential statistics was used to test the hypotheses. The study found thatgender
had no significant effect on absenteeism, The results of the study form the basis for better management of
institutions The finding of this study will help the managers of school in endorsing the validity of incorporating
personal factors in interventions in recruitment, selection, training and staff development processes.. The study
suggests that future research can make use of longitudinal design to adequately examine the causal status of
personal factors on absenteeism.

I. INTRODUCTION
Employee absences are costly problem for employers (Hackett &Guion 1985; Lyons, 1972; Muchinsky 1977). Because of
this, , the correlates and personal factors of employee absenteeism have been researched extensively over the past 75
years, Cooper & Payne,1965; Evans, 1986; Hill &Trist ,1955; Kornhauser& Sharp, 1932; Naylor &Vincent, 1959;
Noland, 195; O’Hara, Johnson &Beehr, 1959; Pierce &Newstrom.
1980; Price & Mueller, 1986; Vroom, 1962; Water & Roach, 1973) The Focus has generally been on a variety of
personal, attitudinal and organizational variables both to predict and to explain absenteeism.
In fact, absenteeism and turnover are the two most frequent outcomes studied in organizational research (Long &Ormsby,
2001). One of the key pillars of Vision 2030 in Kenya is provision of quality education for all. School systems have been
engaged in a system of educational reform designed to change school culture and to improve student achievement. That
reform is fueled by a level of accountability that includes not only the performance of the students, but also the
performance of the employees and the administrators. Schools must meet stricter qualifications for the quality of their

teaching staff and for their performance. Some of the greatest challenges facing the schools include hiring and retaining
qualified employees, maintaining excellent curricula, providing the necessary resources, providing continual professional
development of the staff, and procuring the necessary financial resources to meet these challenges. As school leaders
search for effective methods of meeting the rigorous demands of Vision 2030 in Kenya, it is imperative that they
continually examine the issues in their organizations which impact the performance of those accountability measures. One
such facet is the subject of employee absenteeism. Why is employee absenteeism important in this age of accountability?
Employee absenteeism has the potential to be very costly, not only in terms of finances, but also in terms of student
achievement. The financial cost of employee absenteeism is significant. Second, employee absence often means that
students have lost opportunities to learn. Studies have shown that employee absence translates to lower student
achievement (Miller, Murnane& Willett, 2007; Clotfelter, 2007). Further, employee absences disrupt the routines and
relationships which support the learning process (Miller, et al., 2007). Third, student achievement gaps in the less
developed countries exist partially because of employee absence (Clotfelter, 2007).
While research has clearly demonstrated that employee absence has a negative effect on student achievement (Ehrenberg
et al., 1991; Clotfelter, 2007; Miller et al., 2007), the research has not been as demonstrative about the causes or
predictors of employee absence. Conflicting evidence exists about the effects of characteristics such as gender, age,
experience, time of week and school culture. Studies have shown that female employees are absent more frequently than
male employees (Scott, 1990; Clotfelter, 2007), while others have found that men are absent more frequently than women
(Chaudhury, Hammer, Kremer, Muralidharan, & Rogers, 2006) or that there will be no association between absenteeism
and gender (Rosenblatt &Shirom, 2005). The results of various studies appear to be contextual in nature, and therefore,
are conclusive for the environs in which they were conducted. As a result, there was need to do a study of the employee
absence behaviors in the Kenyan context. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to examine gender as a factor that
predetermine absence behaviors. A worker is considered as scheduled to work when the employer has work available for
him/her as he/she is aware of it. Absenteeism of employees is a serious problem to several organizations in all developing
countries. The problem is caused by many factors and has undesirable. One reason was that high rates of employee
absence may signal weak management and poor labor-management relations. A second reason is that reducing rates of
employee absence may be an effective way to improve productivity or performance in examinations in public and private
schools.
Education is an industry in which research on the magnitude and consequences of employee absences, in particular those
of employees, is both feasible and interesting. The feasibility stems from the ability to use student test scores, and net of
prior achievement, as measures of employee productivity. The interest comes from several sources. First, most school
systems contain many schools (work sites), and the quality of leadership and informal norms about attendance are likely
to vary among schools. Consequently, absence rates, net of differences in the demographic characteristics of employees,
are likely to vary among schools. Exploring the reasons for the differences in school-specific employee absence rates may
provide insights about strategies to reduce absences. Second, employee compensation accounts for more than half of
public sector education budgets. There are few opportunities to substitute capital for the labor of absent employees.
Instead, substitutes, often with very little training, are typically hired at considerable expense. Third, the output of the
education industry, students’ skills and knowledge, are critical to both the equality of opportunity and the economic
growth aspiration of most countries as captured in Kenya’s Vision 2030 program. The concern with employee absence
rests on three premises that, a significant portion of employees’ absences is discretionary, employees’ absences have a
non- trivial impact on productivity, and the feasible policy changes could reduce rates of absence among employee.
II. MEASURES
Gender:
The respondents gave their gender as male or female and was categorized in dichotomous 0 and 1 for male and female
Absenteeism:
Absenteeism was captured using a modified questionnaire. The instrument had 11 items that identified and measured rate
of absenteeism.

Reliability and Validity of Absenteeism Reliability: Internal consistency of Absenteeism was tested by computing
Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficients. The average Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient for the absenteeism
instrument was found to be 0.935, which is good as per Sekeran (2000).
Validity: The items in the questionnaire was assessed by factor analysis through principal components extraction with
varimax orthogonal rotation. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measure of sampling adequacy, and Bartlett’s test of
Sphericity were conducted Field’s (2005) recommendations. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) had a measure of 0.748,
which is above the threshold of 0.5 (Field, 2005). The Bartlett’s test is significant for absenteeism with Chi-Square=
170.023 (p-value< 0.05). The KMO value of 0.748 and significance of Bartlett’s statistic confirm the appropriateness of
the factor analysis for absenteeism.

III. RESULTS
Response Rates: The sample consisted of 168 respondents and 120 respondents completed and returned the
questionnaire,giving a response rate of 72 %.
Gender Distribution:
The gender distribution of the survey respondents was 44.7 per cent female and 49.4 per cent male.
Correlation:
There was a week negative positive correlation between Gender and absenteeism that was non-significant at 95 %
confidence level (r = -.096, p=0.324).
Regression Analysis: Was carried out to test the null hypotheses.
H01: From the regression analysis, thehypothesis H01 was tested by constructing thefollowing linear model:
GD = B + β*A where:GDGender is (the independent variable) B is the y-intercept,β is gradient/slope of the regression
line and GDdenotes Gender (the dependent variable). Thus the linear equation relating GDand absenteeism took the form:
GD = 3.505-0223* A. This model has a weak correlation (adjusted R2 = 0.12) and is non-significant (F=28.18 and p =
0.210 which is more the significance level of 0.05) while ß ≠ 0.The results of the partial correlation for effects of
absenteeism relationship shows (H01) that stated that gender has no significance effect on employee absenteeism. The
results of the regression analysis (β= -.223, p>0.05) suggested that gender had no significant effect on absenteeism. Hence
hypothesis H01 was supported. The finding suggests that absenteeism is not determined by gender.
IV. DISCUSSION
The result of the study indicated that gender does not have a significant effect on employee absenteeism. The hypothesis
was therefore rejected. This finding is contrary to prior researches which appear to accept a view that female employees
are absent more frequently than male employees (Scott, 1990; Clotfelter, 2007).
The finding was consistent with previous studies showing that Gender affects the level of employee absenteeism. Scott’s
(2010) study of junior and senior high school employees found that age was a significant factor in predicting the absence
of men and women during the child bearing years. On the other hand, Unicombet al (1999), found that the number of
absences claimed by female employees increased with age and that male employees claimed more days in their thirties
than at any other age (Sivanathan and Fekken 2002; Modissor& Singh, 2008; Mwangiet al., 2011).
