Kelsey Smith took photos for a photography class and provided feedback on each photo. [1] The backgrounds were often distracting colors instead of a uniform color. [2] Some photos were not bright enough or had objects in the frame that drew attention away from the main subject. [3] Focus was an issue in a few photos and could be improved in the next shoot.
2. On each of my four
photos here I have
focused on objects well
and used the light coming
from one direction.
However I don’t like how
the backgrounds are not
all one colour. I think the
photos would be more
effective if they were all
white or black.
In the bottom right photo
there is a bone next to
the dog which distracts
you from the main object.
3. Non of these photos are very
bright so the camera should
be set to a different light
setting. The lens is also not
very well focused so in my
next shoot I will need to
improve on focusing the main
subject of the photo more
accurately.
In the picture on the
bottom right there is a
bucket in the background
which catches more
attention than the actual
subject of the picture.
4. The lens is focused well
on the guitar on both of
these pictures, however
the guitar reflects some
of the lights which
makes the photo look
less effective. This could
be edited out or the
photo should have been
taken at a different time In the bottom right photo the
of the day. carpet has some marks on it which
should be edited off. There are also
objects in the background which
don’t help define the main object.
The dream catcher image
could have been focused
on a lot better. I think the
picture should have been
made brighter.
5. In the photo in the top
left corner I have
focused on the bone
and blurred out the
dog in the back ground
to suggest the emotion
of abandonment.
I think I have focused well on the dogs eyes The photo in the top right is
on the bottom right corner which makes the quite blurry. This could be
photo more effective. On the other hand I improved by focusing the

background.
6. On the top left picture
I think the way the
dogs eyes are defined
is very effective. I also
think that the
background has too
many colours. Maybe
if the background was
made black and white
and the dog the same
colour it would draw I took this picture (top right) at
more attention to the a more unusual angle for a
dog. better effect.
These two bottom
pictures are very
similar however I
think that the light
coming from the TV
slightly ruins the
photo as it reflects
off the dogs fur.
7. Improvements
In my next shoot I aim to improve:
• Focusing the camera on the correct object
• The amount of light on the main object and the
brightness of the photo
• The colours in the backgrounds of the photos
• Edits and effects (changing colours)
