Horror Alice in Wonderland
Final photograph edits.
I chose 9 photographs out of my two Photoshoots, there was around 200 photographs taken altogether. I
edited each chosen photograph in 2/3 different ways to see how I like it best, the first photograph I
chose was the ‘Rabbit’ chasing ‘Alice.’
I chose this photograph because I think it shown both
themes I wanted my Photoshoot to be, which are horror
and fantasy. I also like the camera angle on this
photograph because I’ve hardly taken any which are a
long shot. I edited it in 3 different ways to see how I
like it best, I also wanted to try and make the
photograph look more ‘fantasy.’ The first edit I added a
filter and I think this looks really good and works well
because it does make my photograph have a fantasy look.
I also like how it looks like sunset when the photograph
was taken because it was a dull day. The second
photograph I just simply made it black and white, it does
work well but I think it looks boring compared to my first edit. The third photograph I also made black and
white but I made the Rabbit and Alice in colour, I think the last two black & white edits don’t look as
professional as my first edit. I am going to use my first edit because it’s my favourite edit and photograph
out of all of my photographs and I also think it’s edited in a professional way.
The second photograph I chose was one of Alice in the studio
holding the cup, I chose this because I like the composition of the
photograph. Also I like the angle, even though it’s straight ahead
how Alice is placed looks good. All three of these edits are very
similar and I think they all work well because they make it obvious
what theme/genre’s I was trying to achieve. Even though I do think
both photographs look good with the ‘red eye look’ I do prefer the
edit without the red eyes. My favourite photograph out of these
three edits is the one without the red eyes because it shows my
theme well without it being obviously edited, I am going to use this
edit in my final photographs.

The third photograph was one of the studio photographs of the ‘Mad
Hatter’. I didn’t like the photograph to start but it is my favourite out of
all the photographs of the Mad Hatter. Once I edited it and gave him the
green eyes I think looked good but it only shows the Alice in Wonderland
theme in my Photoshoot. I like
the composition of this
photograph I think it works well.
There was a photograph online of
the Mad Hatter where he had
this facial expression, so I
wanted to make my photograph
like the one I researched about
but make it my own. I think the
edit in colour doesn’t look
professional, and I also think it
looks too bright when it’s in
colour. Out of these three edits
I’m going to use the one on the left for my final edited
photographs.
For my final photographs I only chose one prop photograph
because they was all similar and I didn’t want repeated or almost
identical photographs chosen. I liked all three of these edits
and I found it hard deciding which one I wanted so I asked
other people aswell. I like the angle of this photograph and also
the composition. The photograph also has a depth of field which
makes it look more professional. My two favourite are the black
and white and the one on the left side, because I think these
too look a lot more professional than the other. The other one
was a rushed edit and even though I do like it I think it could be
improved a lot. I ended up choosing the left photograph to use
for my final edits because like some of the others I’ve chosen
they have the slightly same filter and I’ve found this adds the
‘fantasy’ theme into my photographs more.

Another photograph I chose was one of the Mad Hatter in the
studio, this photograph was taken more naturally than the rest of
the ones I chose, while he was talking/ throwing party poppers in
the air I was taking photographs and I think this shows his ‘mad’
side. I edited this photograph in two different
ways, my favourite is the one on the left top
because of his eyes, it isn’t obvious from far away
so I cropped the photograph down to see his eyes.
On the other photographs the eyes look edited
but when the photograph is large and far away his
eyes look like bright green contacts and I think
this shows the fantasy theme to my photographs.
I also think this photograph looks more
professional than the other edit.
The next photographs I edited are the ones of Alice drinking the ‘drink me’
bottle, I chose this photograph to edit because I wanted to relate the
photographs to the film as much as I could but change it in ways aswell. I
also think this photograph shows both of the themes I was trying to
achieve horror and fantasy. Two of these edits are very similar because
I’ve pulled the entire colour out of them, the only thing that I did
different was add a yellow and red over the top of the photograph I’ve
chosen and I think this works well and professional. The third photograph
I edited which is in colour is my least favourite because I think it’s too
bright and could have been edited in a better way and more professional.

The seventh photograph I chose was when Alice is slightly behind
the tree, I chose this because I think it shows how Alice is lost
and scared because she looks curious and is looking at something
while trying to hide behind the tree so she doesn’t get caught. I
took a variety of photographs like this but this was my favourite,
my favourite edit is the one on the left because I think it looks
more professional than the others, also because of her eyes it
slightly shows the ‘horror’ theme. I also
like this photograph edited in black and
white but I do prefer the other. For
the last edit I kept it in colour and
messed around with the colours on the
photograph, I don’t think this works
well because of how green the three
looks, I also think the photograph
doesn’t look professionally taken and
edited.
The next photograph I chose is one of my favourites out of both Photoshoots, I also like both edits that
I’ve done. The first edit I changed it black and white and added red eyes and I do like this photograph but
when the photograph is large it looks slightly unprofessional and also slightly over edited. For the second
edit I added a filter and used the blur tool, I think the blur works well in this photograph and this was the
main reason why I chose that one out of both edits. I don’t think it shows both of my themes though,
especially not horror. The photograph is obviously Alice in Wonderland though because of how she is
dressed and also because of the prop in her hand.

The last photograph I chose was one in the woods, I
didn’t like this photograph to start but I think it shown
both of my themes better than the rest of my
photographs. Also I haven’t included the rabbit in many
photographs so I thought using another would be a
good idea. I edited two photographs the same expect I
darken the edges one the one I’ve chosen, and I’ve also
added a slight violet tint into the photograph. My least
favourite is the one in colour because it looks too
colourful and dark in certain areas because I darkened
the shadows and highlights. I think this photograph
looks least professional than the other two. I am going
to use the one on the left for one of my final edited
photographs because I like the angle and composition
of the photograph and also the violet tint.
