based in San Diego, California.

▪ Past involvement with design and user experience efforts on projects for

$12 million.
▪ Managed a 35+ person department of User Experience Architects, User
Interface Designers, Icon Designers, and Usability Research experts, at a
billion-dollar software company.
▪ Received a Master of Science from Purdue University in Computer
Graphics Technology.

and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)

ResLife Portal - 2016 Product Design Update
Existing web-based system for student housing at colleges and universities. The interface wasn't mobile-
friendly, with a responsive / adaptive layout for various screen sizes.

Challenge: Convert the core features of the system to a mobile-friendly layout. Use this as an opportunity to
reevaluate workflows to further improve

Solution
▪ Created a new dashboard and navigation menu
experience, to optimize for computers, tablets, and
smartphones.
▪ Dashboard includes new overview summaries and
visualizations, as well as shortcuts to deeper
content. Goal: to provide useful information
quickly.

Aqua Quote – Product Design
A dual-marketplace system for buyers to post request-for-quotes on specific products and part numbers, as well
as for suppliers to respond with their quotes. The Client desired a modern system with a user-friendly
workflow to simplify a tedious paperwork process.

Challenge: The system needed to replicate a series of existing manual, paperwork processes, and the design
needed to identify opportunities to increase the efficiency of the processes.

Solution
▪ Helped the client to transform business
requirements into workflow diagrams
▪ Drafted wireframes to iterate through various
concepts, while crafting the interaction design and
information architecture
▪ Strategized system capabilities for an initial
product release and incorporating concepts for the
future product roadmap.
▪ Facilitated the creation of user stories for the
development team to compliment the wireframe
documents, following the SCRUM methodology.
▪ Created a rapid-prototype of HTML & CSS to
serve as a proof-of-concept.

Corrective Action Sys - Product Design
A quality assurance system to track manufacturing issues and defects. The system was originally built 9+
years prior to the project. Client was wanting a modern look and to have a mobile-friendly layout.

Challenge: A rigid workflow for the system needed to be maintained and followed to mirror the standard
auditing process; yet blended with the latest information architecture design styles, while working on a tight
project budget.

Solution
▪ Updated way information was displayed for each
corrective action record to increase readability and
clarity.
▪ Updated form field validation to increase data
accuracy at point of entry.
▪ Updated layout to be mobile-friendly.
▪ To be cost-effective, able to reuse some CSS from
ResLife Portal project.

ResLife Portal - Summer 2017 Customer-Requested Enhancements
Based upon feedback received from prospective customers considering to purchase a paid subscription, their
operations model had changed from being community / social oriented to being educational/curriculum
oriented. The system had been primarily focused on a community / social model

Challenge: Introduce new capabilities to support customers using the newer educational / curriculum model, as
well as customers still using the community / social model.

Solution
▪ From comparing workflows and example
documents (forms & reports) provided by
potential customers, identified that the two models
were similar but used different terminology.
Added configuration options.
▪ Although, two key differences were discovered,
decided to design as
add-on extensions to work in conjunction with
existing functionality.

Conservation App – Usability Research
Two existing web-based systems to help state and local conservation and environment researchers track
geographic areas where studies had been conducted and how those ecosystems were evolving.

Challenge: Feedback had been received from the conservationists and researchers, that the two systems were
cumbersome to use and not time efficient. Usability Research was requested by the stakeholders to identify
issues and propose options to remedy the issues.

Solution
▪ Created a research study plan to identify usability
and accessibility issues, including scenario-based
observational studies with seven conservationists.

Task Time Tracker - Proof-of-Concept
Two existing web-based systems to help state and local conservation and environment researchers track
geographic areas where studies had been conducted and how those ecosystems were evolving.

Challenge: Feedback had been received from the conservationists and researchers, that the two systems were
cumbersome to use and not time efficient. Usability Research was requested by the stakeholders to identify
issues and propose options to remedy the issues.

Solution
▪ Created a proof-of-concept prototype, with a
dynamic grid to track time trends for each team
member.
▪ Provided a daily time view and weekly time
view, to adapt to different time tracking formats
▪ Paired time tracking with ability to enter travel
mileage
