Essay On Postmodernism
Crafting an essay on the subject of postmodernism is a challenging endeavor that demands a
deep understanding of a complex and multifaceted intellectual movement. Postmodernism, with
its roots in philosophy, art, literature, and culture, is characterized by its rejection of traditional
conventions and a skepticism toward grand narratives. The task of elucidating the intricate
concepts and theories associated with postmodernism requires a careful exploration of its
historical context, key thinkers, and the diverse ways it has manifested across various disciplines.
One of the difficulties in writing an essay on postmodernism lies in navigating its inherent
paradoxes and contradictions. Postmodernism thrives on ambiguity and challenges the very
notions of truth, reality, and objective meaning. Attempting to encapsulate and articulate these
fluid and elusive concepts in a coherent essay can be akin to grappling with a constantly shifting
intellectual landscape.
Furthermore, addressing the impact of postmodernism on different fields – from literature and
art to architecture and philosophy – adds another layer of complexity. Each discipline has its
unique nuances and interpretations of postmodern thought, making it essential for the essay to
weave together a comprehensive narrative that captures the essence of this broad and sometimes
elusive movement.
The inherent diversity within postmodernism itself poses a challenge. With its eclectic mix of
influences and its rejection of a unified approach, the essayist must carefully navigate through
the labyrinth of postmodern ideas, avoiding oversimplification while maintaining clarity for the
reader. It requires a delicate balance between providing a nuanced understanding and avoiding
the risk of descending into the chaotic terrain that postmodernism often explores.
In conclusion, writing an essay on postmodernism is a formidable task that demands intellectual
rigor, a nuanced grasp of diverse ideas, and the ability to navigate through a complex and often
paradoxical intellectual landscape. It necessitates a keen awareness of the interplay between
theory and practice, as well as an appreciation for the dynamism inherent in postmodern thought.

Critical Thinking Skills In Nursing
As a Provider of Carecritical thinking about whether, or how, humor should be
applied to a situation is an important assessment skill. This may be better applied
after easing in and using practiced skills of using silence, giving recognition,
accepting, in a loving manner. For a number of patients to accept humor during their
care they will decide whether the nurseis considered clinically competent. Being able
to relate to a patient with cardiac conditions that laughing will decrease the amount of
cortisol produced when the body is under stress, along with lowering blood pressure,
blood sugar and heart rate, can show the nurses understanding of laughter goes further
than just joking around. (Thaik, 2014). Aside from showing clinical competency...

Natural Law And Legal Positivism
The contrast between Natural Law and Legal Positivism is a necessary starting point
for those who wish to understand the relationship between law and morality, and the
most varied manners in which it influences society to this day. When it comes to
analyzing which theory offers the most well rounded idea of law, one can argue that
Legal Positivismprovides the best definition of what law is at its essence. However,
because Legal Positivism came to exist as a critique to what was proposed by Natural
Law theorists, it is significant that both are explored in depth as means to support
such argument.
Natural law theory is based on human nature and its predisposition to do good. The
determination of what s good and evil, however, is often drawn ... Show more content

In fact, it argues that at times, it is possible that for the law to be immoral.
The biggest difference between the writings of Austin and Hart might be that the
former while setting the framework for a plausible theory, fails to elaborate on its
most basic premises. Hart expanded on legal positivism by enhancing the theory
suggested by Austin and making it more credible, all while debunking natural law
theory. One example is the manner in which Austin argues that the concept of law
is subject to the command of a higher authority backed by threats. Although this is a
way in which law can be presented, it is also a simplistic definition. Hart argues that
although Austin s definition of the law might be applicable to criminal law, it fails
to justify other variants of legal process such as contracts or marriage licenses. He
argues that Such laws do not impose duties or obliВgations. Instead, they provide
individuals with facilities for realizing their wishes, by conferring legal powers upon
them to create, by certain specified procedures and subject to certain (p. 27) It is
difficult to associate laws such as the ones concerning marriage to the idea of a
command backed by threat. The differentiation between laws that grant liberties when
compared to those that might take them away is something that is not taken into
account by Austin or explored in depth by natural law theorists such as Aquinas.

Importance Of Budgeting Is Not Hard Even For Younger
Children
Cents and Sensibility
Group 5 : Jasmine, Hayden, Trey
What are the basic steps to managing your money? Everyone needs a plan in saving
money, especially kids. In this paper, we will outline the best money saving
concepts to help build a budget that works. Teaching kids early to work within a
budget pays off big for them down the road. Even when very young, kids are ready
for the basic idea in how to save and spend money and as they get older, if parents
include them in their own budget planning it will help their children develop good
money habits from the start. The concept of budgeting is not hard even for younger
children. The hard part building good money habits at an early age. These habits,
especially the bad habits, have had the chance to take root are very hard to break.
So how do you start to manage money at an early age? For beginners, parents need to
be role models. When parents are doing financial planning, they need to let the
kids sit in on some of the decision making. This is called a household spending plan.
This plan involves all members of the family. They can help out by identifying what
is important to spend money on. They can watch their parents write down a list and
use this list for decision making process. It will help in determining final goals for
the family and what is important to spend their money on monthly. Everyone in the
family needs to be in agreement in order for the budgeting process to be successful. It

Queen Gertrude And Gertrude In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Queen Gertrude is a character in the Shakespearian play Hamlet. She is a very
secretive character. After the death of her husband, King Hamlet, she marries her
former brother in law, Claudius. In the play, Shakespeare portrays her as sexually
driven woman. Even though she has caused hamlet, her son, a great deal of pain,
Gertrudeis very protective of him. Hamletis blinded by revenge and accusations that
he fails to see his mother for what she truly is. Throughout the play, Hamlet is
disappointed by his mother for remarrying just after a month of the funeral. After the
Ghostof his father reveals to him how his Uncle, Claudius, poisoned him, Hamlet
starts to blame both Claudius and Gertrude for the death of his father.
Claudius s relationship with Gertrude is very typical for that era. As her husband,
he controls and treats as a child. Men considered women to be childlike and
lascivious. Even though she might not be neither of those things, both the Ghost
of King Hamlet and Claudius as a man, see her as a child. In the play, Gertrude is
accused by the Ghost and Hamlet. The Ghost describes her as seeming virtuous
(1.5,46) which implies, she was having an affair with his brother before he was
murdered and not grieving for him long enough and accuses his brother as adulterate
beast (1.5,41). while Hamlet accuses her of being In the rank sweat of an
enseamГЁd bed, Stewed in corruption, honeying and making love (3.4,92 94). But the
Ghost doesn t seem to mind her behavior
Catherine The Great s Reign
Catherine the Great is recognised world wide as one of the most prominent and
successful historical rulers of Russia. Catherine ll, Empress of Russia, is
remembered in the majority, as an incredible leader of her time; with full entitlement
of the title The Great . The term or title of The Great was given to rulers of the past
by themselves or their countrymen, due to significant achievements or victories
during their time of reign. The term Great has multiple meanings but in regards to
leadership it means eminent, distinguished, a great leader to an extreme or notable
degree . Catherine the Great s reign saw her as one of the longest serving leaders,
extending from 1762 to1796. With the title of Russian Empress, Catherine ll... Show

Upon her arrival Catherine rapidly consumed the Russian culture, mastering the
customs and the history of the empire. Empress Elizabeth s death in December 25,
1761, saw Catherine s husband ascend the throne and named Peter III. After only
six months, Peter was overthrown in a coup allegedly orchestrated by Catherine.
The exact role Catherine played in her husband s death has been widely debated.
Early in her reign as attempt to be acknowledged favourably she returned the church
s land and property. It is believed that Catherine even styled herself after her hero the
beloved ruler Peter the Great, claiming that she was following in his footsteps.
In 1762 Russia presented immediate concerns to Catherine the Great, with her
nation being viewed as backward and provincial by many in Europe. She set out to
alter this negative outlook with progression in the areas of education and the arts.
The Smolny Convert was established under Catherine the Great as a boarding
school to educate young ladies; very proud of this achievement she exchanged
letters with French writer Voltaire ... These young ladies I confess far surpass our
expectations. They make astonishing progress... . After the positive outcomes of her

Viktor Frankl s Man s Search For Meaning
Number 119,104: Viktor Frankl s Man s Search for Meaning
Viktor Frankl had a chance to escape the wrath of World War II, but he didn t!
Instead, he chose to stay behind so that he could be close to his parents. That choice,
ultimately led him to extreme experiences within several Nazi concentration camps,
including the infamous Auschwitz. Watching those around him suffer the same fate,
the same hardships and the same pain, he noticed that they all reacted differently.
Those who had found a meaning or will to live did so, but others who had lost
everything dear to them often just gave up and died. Frankl realized that (and he
often quotes Nietzsche), He who has a why to live can bear with almost any how .
Frankl s Early Life and Parental Attachment
Viktor Frankl was born on March 26, 1905 in Vienna, the same day Beethoven died
to Elsa and Gabriel Frankl. He was interested in psychology from an early age and in
1921 gave a public lecture On the Meaning of Life . He graduated with a doctorate in
1930 (V Frankl Institut). While in training he had great difficulty being apart from
his parents and stated in his autobiography that I was so emotionally attached to my
parental home that I suffered terrible homesickness during the first weeks and
months, even years, when I had to stay overnight in the various hospitals where I
was working (Frankl, 2000). In 1940, during the war, he became a director of the
Neurological Department of Rothschild Hospital where he made
How Tornados Are Formed
There s a strong natural weather phenomenon in the world. Do you know what is
that? That is a tornado and it is a turbulent air column. (Conserve Energy Future,
2013) When you saw it, it is shaped like a funnel. Now you can probably know what
a tornado is. I am going to tell you more about how tornadoes are formed.
First, tornados are formed by plenty of supercells. Actually, supercells are a huge
cluster of thunderstorm clouds. In other words, heat rises up as it has a low vapor
pressure and cold air drops down because of its high vapor pressure. (The National
Severe Storms Laboratory) Because of this, the warm air in the end forms a vortex
and forms a funnel cloud, also known as tornado.
Secondly, the formation of a tornado can be divided

Hannah Arendt s Four Types Of Evil
After the second world war, Hannah Arendt spent a lot of time studying the evil
actions that the Nazi s had committed during the war, and as a result of her studies,
she came to the conclusion that most evil is done by people who never make up
their minds to be good or evil. To fully understand her statement, we must first look at
the four types of evil:
1.Diabolical evil
2.Idealistic evil
3.Instrumental evil
4.And finally, banal or unconscious evil
This first type of evil, Diabolical evil, is considered to be when an evil action is
conducted with no other purpose other than to be evil. However, there is
contradiction whether this type of evil actually exists. If we look at masochism, for
example, the purpose behind their evil actions, ... Show more content on

In my opinion God is not the creator of evil and suffering. This is implied in the
bible, in Genesis 1:31, when it says; God saw all that he had made, and it was very
good. Therefore, everything that he had made was good, thus He could not
possibly be the author of evil. So where did suffering come from? God wanted a
genuine relationship with us. He wanted us to sincerely love him, like he already
loved us. However, this would not have been possible without the freedom of
choice, otherwise we would just be like robots, programmed to love God, rather
than actually experiencing it (Dickson, 2001). However, when God gave Adam
and Eve this freedom, we, as humans, betrayed him and chose to eat the fruit from
the tree that we were forbidden not too. We abused the free will that he gave us
and walked away from Him. This, in my opinion, is the reason that good people
suffer. Because when we walked away from God, we also brought natural and
moral evil into the world. Moral evil is the suffering that occurs as a result of our
own uncaring, selfish, and hateful actions. For example, if we look at famine, the
world produces enough food for everyone to have 3,000 calories a day; however, it is
a result of our own self centeredness that thousands of people around the world
starve. It is a result of our own free will. Furthermore, natural evil can also be

The Impact Of Social Media On American Elections
The Impact of Social Media on American Elections and the importance of 21st

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media websites have affected
American elections in many forms. Candidates are now turning their attention to the
people on social networks Murse (2015). They re trying to draw more people like
Millennials because they use more technology. These applicants are trying to step up

its 21st century media outlets have become the center of the 2016 election (CIO,

Hillary Clinton, who is a democrat and Donald Trump, who is a republican. Other
popular rising candidates are Ben Carson and Bernie Sanders and more beyond

there has become a controversy between the candidates. The GOP, known as the

Medieval Romance Compare And Contrast
When someone thinks of a medieval romance, that person will more than likely
think of these common characteristics: knights, quests, a lady, magic, romance,
Christianity, and of course King Arthur. There is actually much more to these
stories than just A knight goes on a quest. He meets a lady. And they all live
happily ever after. A reader needs to know what features to look out for in order to
know for sure what kind of story he is reading.
A Handbook to Literature by William Harmon and C. Hugh Holman says that a
medieval romance is a tale of adventure that contains knights, kings, or distraught
women. That person is usually motivated by either love, religion, or s/he is just
wanting an adventure. Medieval romance was first seen in ... Show more content on

Medieval romances succeeded the epic of the 12th century, which was the main
kind of story anyone ever wrote or read. There are many differences between an epic
and medieval romance story. Epics tend to tell a story about a hero and how he must
fight evil monsters, while romances tell how a knight expresses his chivalry through
one or more quests. While an epic is more serious and usually consists of everyday
life, a romance is more mysterious and usually about fantasies. Romances will
more than likely be comical and end happy, while epics are very solemn and have a
sad ending. Epics follow a straight path to the ending. The reader knows that the
hero will fight some evil villain and win. Medieval romances are not like that.
While the story does follow a slightly straight path to the end, the reader never
knows what the protagonist will face on the way. The structure is very relaxed in a
romance, while in an epic it is strict. The reader will know whether he is reading an
epic or not by the amount of romance or love that is displayed. Epics do not contain
love, and if they do, it is not much. There may be women in the story, but they are not
usually part of the actual story. That is not true of medieval romances. It would no
longer be a medieval romance if it did not contain romance throughout the story. In
epics, the characters

Measurement and Measurement Error
PHYS 1313 S06
Prof. T.E. Coan
Version: 16 Jan 06
Introduction
Physics makes both general and detailed statements about the physical universe and
these statements are organized in such a way that they provide a model or a kind
of coherent picture about how and why the universe works the way it does. These
sets of statements are called theories and are much more than a simple list of facts
and figures like you might find in an almanac or a telephone book (even though
almanacs and telephone books are quite useful). A good physics theory is far more
interested in principles than simple facts. Noting that the moon appears regularly in
the night sky is far less interesting than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Understanding and quantifying measurement error is important in experimental
science because it is a measure of how seriously we should believe (or not believe)
our theories abut how the physical universe works.
If I measure my mass to be 120.317 kilograms, that is a very precise measurement
because it is very specific. It also happens to be a very inaccurate measurement
because I am not quite that fat. My mass is considerably less, something like 85
kilograms. So, when we say that we have made a precise measurement we can also
say that we have made a very specific measurement. When we say we have made an
accurate measurement we are saying that our answer is close to the true value of the
quantity. When we make measurements in the laboratory we should therefore
distinguish between the precision and the accuracy of these measurements.
The so called number of significant figures ( sig figs ) that a measurement contains
indicates its the precision. In our mass example, the quantity 120.317 kilograms has
6 significant figures. This is rather precise as measurements go and is considerably
more precise than anything you will ever measure in this course. Again, the fact that
a measurement is precise does not make it accurate, just specific. In any event, it is
useful to be familiar with how to recognize the number of significant figures in a
The Tempest Visualization Map Analysis
My visualization map of The Tempest depicts three land masses separated by the
sea. From the view of the King s mariners, the sea is nothing but water for miles in
all directions. Little did they know that the tempest would blow them off course and

lined with palm trees and greenery. While the other men give quite different
accounts, Gonzalo sees the beauty of the uninhabited island as I would. He marvels,
How lush and the lusty the grass looks! How green! (2.1.55). I think that the island is
tremendous in size (mainly because they have to actively search for Ferdinand) and

The Equal Pay Act Of The United States
Introduction
During the early history in America women were deprived of some of the many
rights given to the male citizens. It has almost been a century since women were
awarded the right to vote in the United States. It s been half a century after the
Equal Pay Act was established. The Equal Pay act led to a reduction in the wage
gap, but wage differences based on sex persist (Korgen Giraffe, 2015). Sadly, there
is still a lot of prejudice towards women in the workplace. Bigotry towards women
in the workplace has been dominant through the years. Many perceive women as
being weak and not able to effectively provide their leadership duties in their
workplaces due to their emotions (weaker sex). Positions in leadership are often given

By the 1900s, 142,000 of the employees were women. In the 1900s a third of all

benefits of working outside the home. As businesses created white collar positions
in the 1950s, women were steered toward what became known as pink collar jobs.
В¬Pink collar workers are those employed in service sector jobs considered to be

Why Women in Leadership
Women often take an alternative approach to leading teams encouraging more open
discussion, cultivating talent and sharing credit. Feedback is the place where women
bosses may add the most value (Meers, 2009).
Like I stated before, women are viewed as the weaker sex. But after doing some
research I have found that many employees would rather have a female as their
employer. Listed below are five main reasons:
Better communicators In order to be an effective leader one must communicate
effectively.
Better community builders The best leaders are learning to lead through the power
that comes from building alliances instead of competing.
Stronger business ethics Women in leadership roles tend to acknowledge and
consider the rights of others in the search of fairness.
More patience Women are known for having more patience in general.

Known in Chinese as Weixin, micro message, WeChat is a mobile messaging app for
sending text, voice, and photos to friends and family. It was launched just 4 years ago
by Chinese investment holding company Tencent, one of the largest internet
companies in the world. As of earlier this year, WeChat had more than 500 million
monthly active users among over one billion registered users, almost all of them in
Asia.
WeChat quickly gains popularity due to its features and appearance. It allows users
to easily connect with family and friends by providing text messaging, video call,
hold to talk voice messaging, group messaging, sharing of photographs and videos,
and location sharing. Compared to some other duplicate apps such as WhatsApp,
WeChat has more features that allow users get to know more friends via Drift
Bottle, Shake , and Look Around. This app is free and is available on many phones,
and it requires user to have it installed on a phone in order to use it.
Below, we highlight nine of WeChat s features that keep the user base strong.
1.Video Call. It allows users to make face to face video calls. The process is just like
dialing your contact in your cell phone s contact book.
2.Voice Message. It can simplify your chat messages. If you are spending hours
drafting a long text message, think about sending a WeChat voice message instead.
You just need to hold to talk. In such way, WeChat turns your smartphone into a
walkie talkie. You can use that feature under the

Women don t mind another point of view as long as it is in the form of a suggestion
or inquiry rather than as a direct challenge. All these differences in this essay begin to
clarify why men and women have such different expectations of communication.
Tannen suggests, once men and women understand these differences, improvement
in communication will come naturally. In the future one can use the information in
this essay to recognize his or her differences when it comes to conversation and
learn to alter their behavior to improve communication with their partner, rather
than right and wrong which can lead to breaking up or divorce. In David Ropeik s
What Really Scares Us , Ropeik argues that Humans perceive risk through emotions
rather than reasoning even though we obtain a highly advanced brain which gives
us the power to reason. Ropeik says that the reason humans perceive risk
emotionally before reasoning is because our brains are biologically built to fear first
and think second. The brain has two parts that are built mainly for reasoning and
emotion. One of these parts is called the prefrontal cortex, behind your forehead,
which is the area where we do a lot of our reasoning and thinking. The other part,
which is the brain s key emotion center, is the amygdala. Because of the way the
brain is built, information gets to the amygdale first before getting to the prefrontal
cortex. In that case a person would react
The Logo Of Bacardi
The logo for the Bacardi brand has been changed quite a few times. It has been
recently rebranded and given a more vintage look inspired by the Bacardi hand
drawn bat designs from the early 1900s. The bat logo was chosen because from the
beginning many of Bacardi s potential clients were illiterate, and the image of the
bat helped them to remember the rum. It is also used because it stays true to the
integrity of the original symbol. In Cuban and Spanish heritage bats represent good
health, fortune, and family unity. This new/old look makes Bacardi look a little bit
more sophisticated and also quirky. Far from the cartoon style that it once had, in
the new logo, they got rid of the yellow/gold colour which makes it look cleaner, it s

The Bacardi logotype is much more eye catching when looked upon and the letter
design leaves little space for flair. The accent on the I reminds the consumer that it
is a product from a Cuban and Spanish culture, it also looks more bold than the
previous version and along with the particular angular quality with the two A s, this
sets a reminder of their Untamable feature. Bacardi has changed to this more
straight style of logo that resembles that of vodka logos which almost puts them
directly opposite to the classical rum style. Usually, rum brands want their logos to
create an exotic feel with persistent modernity. This Bacardi logo is what is going to
make their rum stand out, it will be unique compared to the rest of the rum brands.
Usually rum is associated with palm trees and pirates, this simple yet memorable logo
will appeal to the crowd of consumers nowadays that accepts respectability and slick
new professionalism. This way Bacardi demonstrates the understanding that they
have developed in the way that they are targeting their audience and the way that they
want to advertise their

Sierra Leone, a country that lies on the west coast of Africa, faced a gruesome war

people of Sierra Leone and its economy are paying for. Sierra Leone s economic
development and progress after the post civil war became an interest to me because
Sierra Leone is where my family originated from. I personally can relate to the war

Essay on Black Theology
The development of Black Theology in the United was one that shocked the
nation as a whole. While in slavery, Blacks had to sneak and hold church services.
This was partly because Whites felt that Blacks were not able to be accepted into
heaven, and they believed that once one as a Christian they could no longer be
enslaved. So to appease their conscience they would not allow Blacks to take part in
theology. Due to these issues Black Theology soon originated within the United
States. The origination of Black Theology was only cracked open by the idea of
slave theology. The origination of Black Theology first began when churches began
to become segregated. Many could not understand how Whites could continue to

The idea of Black Theology was to redefine the meaning and role of church and
religion in the lives of Black people. The theology of Blacks came to be because of
racism, injustice, inhumanity, and inequality. Black Theology was created out of
a liberal struggle for political freedom and of the development by the black
religious experience. Throughout the development of Black Theology and the
black church a sensitive topic has risen. Many feel that there is a large amount of
sexuality throughout the black church. Four hundreds of years a major discussion
raised among people has been the issue of sexuality as well as the black church,
furthermore the combined idea of sexuality in the black church. Many theologians
as well as philosophers have tried to grasp and place meaning to the connection
that exist as well as the problem within sexuality in the black church. Blacks are
known as sexual beings so obviously one would assume that there is an association
of sexuality in the African church. This idea is even seen in a black church worship
experience. In a black worship experience the pastor is seen as a ministerial
Casanova who sends ambivalent messages to the congregation speaking the ills of
adulterous relationships. But then he proceeds to pursue a relationship with one of
the congregation members. Many argue that we need to recover erotic uses our black
bodies. In the book Sexuality and the Black Church

What is Cornhole?
Cornhole (otherwise called Tailgate toss, baggo, bags, or bag toss) is a popular
outdoor party game. It has recently been gaining a whole lot of fame all over the
United States, from college campuses and sports bars to tailgating events, backyards,
and parties.
Cornhole boards are inclined boards usually two feet by four feet or two feet by

of pitching corn bags weighing 15 to 16 ounces each. These can contain either whole
kernel corn or plastic resin pellets in an effort to send them through the hole in the
board.
Benedict Vs Beowulf Research Paper
The Rule of St. Benedict and Beowulf could not be more different texts. Beowulf is
the epic story of a warrior turned king who kills monsters while grappling with his
mortality. The Rule of St. Benedict was written as a how to for other monks to
follow when founding their own monasteries. While one is meant to be loudly
performed by a bard to drunken warriors, the other is meant for quiet reflection by
one abbot. Yet through these disparate genres, similar values emerge. Both The Rule
and Beowulfglorify the ideal of a brotherhood working under the watch of one leader.
It is not a coincidence that two separate cultures developed such a similar
dependence. Both the monks in Benedict s monastery and the warriors in Hrothgar
s mead hall are only barely sustainable. The warriors are facing daily attacks from
monsters and the monks spend every possible moment in prayer to keep sin at bay.

Essay On Undocumented Immigrants
Amnesty for Undocumented Immigrants
Put yourself in the place of an undocumented immigrant or a family member. Would
you then advocate for amnesty? Amnesty, which is a pathway to citizenship for
undocumented immigrants, has been a very controversial topic that has been debated
since the foundation of the United States. People argue against amnesty because
according to their sources they take jobs from American citizens. They are violating
the law of the United States and they live of taxpayer dollars. Should illegal
immigrants be granted a pathway to citizenship? Yes, they should because illegal

In a statement given by Judge Goodlatte titled Immigration Reform he opines that
undocumented immigrants should not be granted a pathway to citizenship because
they have violated the immigration laws of the United States and that those laws
must be enforced. However, on a recent report requested by ICE it is shown that
between the dates of January and August 2015 about 1,800 undocumented
immigrants that were released were rearrested. The immigrants however, faced
charges that were associated to non violent crimes. Also, a Wall Street Journal
opinion piece done by Jason L. Riley claims that about 1.6 percent of all immigrant
males between 18 and 39 years old were incarcerated, compared to 3.3 percent of the
native born population . These studies suggest the contrary to the point of Judge
Goodlatte that undocumented immigrants should not be granted amnesty because
they have broken the immigration laws of the United States. Undocumented
immigrants are statistically shown to be more law abiding than native born citizens
and although some were charged with felonies, they were non violent and charges
were ultimately dropped. Due to this undocumented immigrants should be granted
amnesty to remain in the united states legally and keep benefiting our economy as

Norman Bates Research Paper
After stealing a large sum of money from her boss in order to marry the man she
loves, poor office worker Marion Crane flees the city to her lover, but soon finds
herself lost and checking into a deserted motel. There she discovers that its young
depressed manager, Norman Bates is an unrelenting killer with a dissociative identity
disorder. The actions and personality traits displayed by Norman Batescan be
explained by two distinct theories, those of Sigmund Freud and Abraham Maslow.
Freud s theory stems from the belief that traumatic events, usually from childhood,
are repressed by the conscious mind; yet remain in the subconscious, where they
proceed to act as a constant source of neuroses and psychoses. Freud believed that
the majority of repressed memories relate to sexuality. In Psycho, Norman Bates is
said to have murdered his mother and her lover in a jealous rage after finding them
in bed together. These actions can be further explained by Freud s theory of Infantile
Sexuality.
Freud theorized that Infantile Sexuality occurred when a child s sexual instincts are

He stated that people are motivated to achieve certain needs and when one need is
fulfilled a person seeks to fulfill the next one, and so on. Maslow s hierarchy is
divided into five stages, physiological, safety, love, esteem and self actualization.
Maslow believed that these needs are quite similar to human instinct in that they
play a major role in motivating human behavior. He theorized that one must fulfill
the lower level basic needs before progressing on to satisfy any higher level needs.
Thus while Norman Bates lower level basic needs were being met, his higher level
needs for love, esteem and self actualization were
What Are The Similarities Between Sallust And Salluse
In what is arguably one of the most infamous episodes of the Roman Republic, L.
Sergius Catilina plotted the murder of a number of senators, and planned to assume
control over the Republic. The conspiracy is the depicted in Sallust s historiography,
Bellum Catilinae, as well as it is the subject of Ciceros most famous speeches, In
Catilinam I IV. Primarily, the fame of the unsuccessful rebellion known as the
Catilinarian Conspiracy of 63 B.C. stems from the comprehensible body of work
which details it, and to the surviving world, these works provides insight into the
unstable political climate of the late Roman Republic. In addition to detailing this
attempted rebellion, Sallust and Cicero also managed to create an image of the man
which the conspiracy was named after, Catiline. As a result of Cicero s and Sallust s
standing as giants within the body of Western history, the inevitable consequence of
this is that the image which they constructed of Catiline is the one which has
prevailed through the centuries.

In the world of film making, female directors are rather scarce. It s easy to find a

Aphasia Is A Language Disorder
Aphasia is a language disorder where certain areas of the brain are damaged, which
affects one s ability to comprehend or produce speech and language. Nearly two
million Americans have some type of aphasia, with about 180,000 American s
acquiring aphasia per year (NAA). There are many ways aphasia could be acquired
such as, traumatic brain injury, infections, diseases or tumors. However, it is most
commonly acquired by having a hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke. These events do not
always lead to aphasia, but when they do, it is because the lesions are located in
certain languagecenters of the brain, such as Broca s Area or Wernicke s Area.
According to Schlaug, Marchina, and Norton (2008) about 600,000 to 750,000
strokes are documented each year in the US and around 20% of those who suffer
from a stroke end up with some form of aphasia.
It has been shown over the years that intervention and therapy greatly benefits
those with aphasia, allowing them to gain some of their language skills back or
taking some of the strain off producing language. Melodic Intonation Therapy is
one of the most efficient ways to treat adult s affected with non fluent aphasia. In
this research paper it will be discussed what Melodic Intonation Therapy (MIT) is,
the types of aphasias it is used for, how MIT is performed, research studies that give
credit to MIT, and what criteria needs to be met before starting MIT.
Depending on where the lesion is it could result in different types of
The Feminine Touch
Chess (2011) continues examining the ad s contents by noting the presence of the
feminine touch, which Erving Goffman describes as a cradling or delicate sense of
touch. This is particularly relevant given the DS Lite s touch screen interface. As
such, the content of the ad focuses on the woman playing, not the game or the system
itself. Instead of including the woman in the domain of play itself, the ad resorts to
presenting her as delicate and overtly feminine, thus dividing her from the rest of the
gaming audience.
A second case Chess (2011) examines is an advertisement for WiiFit, a health centric
game and hardware addition to the Wii gaming system. The ad shows rows of
models using the Wii Fit board, placed against a green background, where green is
the color representing health and natural living. The white attire of the models
contrast the background color, but supplement its meaning by representing purity and
simplicity Kama all values that one may strive for while using the Wii Fit (Chess,
2011).
In her analysis, Chess (2011) describes advertising attempt to tap into women s
body conscious aptitude. While Wii Fit seemed to posit itself as a product that
anyone can use regardless of sex or ethnicity, the fact that it appears in magazines
such as O and Good Housekeeping clearly Target a female audience and plays on
the standardized value of healthy living (Chess, 2011). It is quite apparent that this
type of game does not fall in the traditional realm of games,

Essay about Marie Curie
Marie Curie
LIFE OF MARIE CURIE
Marie Curie(1867 1934) was a French physicist with many accomplishments in both
physics and chemistry. Marie and her husband Pierre, who was also a
French physicist, are both famous for their work in radioactivity.
Marie Curie, originally named Marja Sklodowska, was born in Warsaw,
Poland on Nov.7, 1867. Her first learning of physics came from her father who
taught it in high school. Marie s father must have taught his daughter well because in
1891, she went to Paris(where she changed her original name) and enrolled in the
Sorbonne. Then two years later she passed the Examination for her physics degree
ranking in first place. She met Pierre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Curie thus began studying uranium radiation and made it her doctoral thesis. With
the aid of an electrometer built by Pierre, Marie measured the strength of the radiation
emitted form uranium compounds and found it proportional to the uranium content,
constant over a long period of time and influenced by external conditions. She
detected a similar immutable radiation in the compounds of thorium. While checking
these results, she made the discovery that uranium pitchblende and the mineral
chalcolite emitted four times as much radiation as their uranium content. She realized
that unknown elements, even more radioactive then uranium must be present. Then
in 1898 she drew the revolutionary conclusion that pitchblende contains a small
amount of an unknown radiating element.
Pierre Curie understood the importance of this supposition and joined his wife s
work. In the next year, the Curie s discovered two new radiating elements which they
named Polonium(after Maries native country) and Radium.
They now began the tedious and monumental task of isolating these elements so that
their chemical properties could be determined. During the next four years, working
in a leaky wooden shed, they processed a ton of pitchblende, laboriously isolating
from it a fraction of a gram of radium.

may assume they have different interest that can go against their best interests, based
on the impression or stereotype they have of the counterpart. This mistrust may
increase when the parties are from different cultures or have different backgrounds,
since negotiations are not only between companies from the same country, but also
with companies from different countries. An example of this is the negotiations
between international companies from American and Asian countries, a situation that
is increasing a cause of the globalization. An even though this cultures know that
negotiations is a significant component in business, there are differences in how this
process is approached by American and Asian cultures. First, the negotiation style of
Asian and American cultures varies depending on the background of the parties
involved in the process. Asian cultures tend to use the collaborative style of
negotiation, this mean that they try to be cooperative and work with the counterpart
to find a solution, while American cultures tend to use competitive
Application Of A New Password Protected
A new password protected Training folder has been created on the root of drive R to
be used for all current training materials.
The password is Training. Please do not store anything in this folder until we have all
outdated training materials archived and files and folders re organized.
As we move, and delete files and folders, a TD Mirror folder of the TD folder has
been created as a backup. The TD Mirror folder will be deleted after the re
organization project is complete and The TD folder will be deleted after all files and
folders have been moved to their perspective housing area.
The original Archives folder has been moved (as is) from the TD sub folder in the
Human Resources folder on drive R to the Training folder at the root of R. There
are many versions and copies of the same course stored in the current Archive folder
making it challenging to determine which courses were actually in production (used
by the learners) and which were a work in progress or backups before the final
release. In other words, a course is not considered a version until it is released in
Production or to the public, anything before that time is considered a Work in
Progress. These two procedures seems to cause confusion. Consider the follow story:
A work team for a popular magazine company is tasked with producing a fun,
interesting, an exciting, spring issue. The team begins work drafting concepts and
ideas and then presents them to other team

Literature Review On Noise And Smartphone Noise
2Literature Review
Based on the research design and challenges for this dissertation, the scope of the
literature review includes three key areas that will be discussed hereafter:
1.Noise and smartphone noise data collection. o Noise and indices. o Noise data
collection applications. o Participatory sensing.
2.Noise mapping. o Noise data. o Predicting Noise Exposure Levels.
3.Estimating a total number of buildings and population exposed to noise levels 55
dB.
2.1Noise and Smartphone Noise Data Collection
2.1.1Noise
Sound waves oscillate air molecules producing alternating sound pressure levels. The
varying frequencies and amplitude of these sound waves can be detected by the
human ear. To the human ear, the frequency is perceived as pitch and amplitude
perceived as loudness (Bies and Hanson, 2003). Sound pressure level is commonly
expressed using a weighted system because the highest sound pressure level tolerated
by the human ear is 10 million times larger than the smallest. There are many noise
weightings which are a spectrum of amplitude vs frequency, designed to measure
specific frequency ranges. When measuring environmental noise it is practical to
measure only the frequencies that the human ear can hear. Epidemiological studies
have indicated that the human auditory system is capable of detecting a frequency
range between 20 and 20,000 Hz and is most sensitive to frequencies between 1 and
5 kHz (Peters et al., 2011). Considering this, a noise weighting system

Essay On Postmodernism.pdf

  • 1. Essay On Postmodernism Crafting an essay on the subject of postmodernism is a challenging endeavor that demands a deep understanding of a complex and multifaceted intellectual movement. Postmodernism, with its roots in philosophy, art, literature, and culture, is characterized by its rejection of traditional conventions and a skepticism toward grand narratives. The task of elucidating the intricate concepts and theories associated with postmodernism requires a careful exploration of its historical context, key thinkers, and the diverse ways it has manifested across various disciplines. One of the difficulties in writing an essay on postmodernism lies in navigating its inherent paradoxes and contradictions. Postmodernism thrives on ambiguity and challenges the very notions of truth, reality, and objective meaning. Attempting to encapsulate and articulate these fluid and elusive concepts in a coherent essay can be akin to grappling with a constantly shifting intellectual landscape. Furthermore, addressing the impact of postmodernism on different fields – from literature and art to architecture and philosophy – adds another layer of complexity. Each discipline has its unique nuances and interpretations of postmodern thought, making it essential for the essay to weave together a comprehensive narrative that captures the essence of this broad and sometimes elusive movement. The inherent diversity within postmodernism itself poses a challenge. With its eclectic mix of influences and its rejection of a unified approach, the essayist must carefully navigate through the labyrinth of postmodern ideas, avoiding oversimplification while maintaining clarity for the reader. It requires a delicate balance between providing a nuanced understanding and avoiding the risk of descending into the chaotic terrain that postmodernism often explores. In conclusion, writing an essay on postmodernism is a formidable task that demands intellectual rigor, a nuanced grasp of diverse ideas, and the ability to navigate through a complex and often paradoxical intellectual landscape. It necessitates a keen awareness of the interplay between theory and practice, as well as an appreciation for the dynamism inherent in postmodern thought. For those seeking assistance in exploring such intricate topics or for help with writing essays on various subjects, it's worth considering professional writing services. Platforms like HelpWriting.net provide a range of options for obtaining well-researched and expertly crafted essays, allowing individuals to navigate the challenges of academic writing with support and guidance. This may be better applied after easing in and using practiced skills of using silence, giving recognition, accepting, in a loving manner. For a number of patients to accept humor during their care they will decide whether the nurseis considered clinically competent. Being able to relate to a patient with cardiac conditions that laughing will decrease the amount of cortisol produced when the body is under stress, along with lowering blood pressure, blood sugar and heart rate, can show the nurses understanding of laughter goes further than just joking around. • 3. Natural Law And Legal Positivism The contrast between Natural Law and Legal Positivism is a necessary starting point for those who wish to understand the relationship between law and morality, and the most varied manners in which it influences society to this day. When it comes to analyzing which theory offers the most well rounded idea of law, one can argue that Legal Positivismprovides the best definition of what law is at its essence. However, because Legal Positivism came to exist as a critique to what was proposed by Natural Law theorists, it is significant that both are explored in depth as means to support such argument. Natural law theory is based on human nature and its predisposition to do good. The determination of what s good and evil, however, is often drawn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, it argues that at times, it is possible that for the law to be immoral. The biggest difference between the writings of Austin and Hart might be that the former while setting the framework for a plausible theory, fails to elaborate on its most basic premises. Hart expanded on legal positivism by enhancing the theory suggested by Austin and making it more credible, all while debunking natural law theory. One example is the manner in which Austin argues that the concept of law is subject to the command of a higher authority backed by threats. Although this is a way in which law can be presented, it is also a simplistic definition. Hart argues that although Austin s definition of the law might be applicable to criminal law, it fails to justify other variants of legal process such as contracts or marriage licenses. He argues that Such laws do not impose duties or obliВgations. Instead, they provide individuals with facilities for realizing their wishes, by conferring legal powers upon them to create, by certain specified procedures and subject to certain (p. 27) It is difficult to associate laws such as the ones concerning marriage to the idea of a command backed by threat. After the death of her husband, King Hamlet, she marries her former brother in law, Claudius. In the play, Shakespeare portrays her as sexually driven woman. Even though she has caused hamlet, her son, a great deal of pain, Gertrudeis very protective of him. Hamletis blinded by revenge and accusations that he fails to see his mother for what she truly is. Throughout the play, Hamlet is disappointed by his mother for remarrying just after a month of the funeral. After the Ghostof his father reveals to him how his Uncle, Claudius, poisoned him, Hamlet starts to blame both Claudius and Gertrude for the death of his father. Claudius s relationship with Gertrude is very typical for that era. As her husband, he controls and treats as a child. Men considered women to be childlike and lascivious. Even though she might not be neither of those things, both the Ghost of King Hamlet and Claudius as a man, see her as a child. In the play, Gertrude is accused by the Ghost and Hamlet. The Ghost describes her as seeming virtuous (1.5,46) which implies, she was having an affair with his brother before he was murdered and not grieving for him long enough and accuses his brother as adulterate beast (1.5,41). while Hamlet accuses her of being In the rank sweat of an enseamГЁd bed, Stewed in corruption, honeying and making love (3.4,92 94). Instead, he chose to stay behind so that he could be close to his parents. That choice, ultimately led him to extreme experiences within several Nazi concentration camps, including the infamous Auschwitz. Watching those around him suffer the same fate, the same hardships and the same pain, he noticed that they all reacted differently. Those who had found a meaning or will to live did so, but others who had lost everything dear to them often just gave up and died. First, tornados are formed by plenty of supercells. Actually, supercells are a huge cluster of thunderstorm clouds. In other words, heat rises up as it has a low vapor pressure and cold air drops down because of its high vapor pressure. • 10. Hannah Arendt s Four Types Of Evil After the second world war, Hannah Arendt spent a lot of time studying the evil actions that the Nazi s had committed during the war, and as a result of her studies, she came to the conclusion that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil. To fully understand her statement, we must first look at the four types of evil: 1.Diabolical evil 2.Idealistic evil 3.Instrumental evil 4.And finally, banal or unconscious evil This first type of evil, Diabolical evil, is considered to be when an evil action is conducted with no other purpose other than to be evil. However, there is contradiction whether this type of evil actually exists. If we look at masochism, for example, the purpose behind their evil actions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion God is not the creator of evil and suffering. This is implied in the bible, in Genesis 1:31, when it says; God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. Therefore, everything that he had made was good, thus He could not possibly be the author of evil. So where did suffering come from? God wanted a genuine relationship with us. He wanted us to sincerely love him, like he already loved us. However, this would not have been possible without the freedom of choice, otherwise we would just be like robots, programmed to love God, rather than actually experiencing it (Dickson, 2001). However, when God gave Adam and Eve this freedom, we, as humans, betrayed him and chose to eat the fruit from the tree that we were forbidden not too. We abused the free will that he gave us and walked away from Him. This, in my opinion, is the reason that good people suffer. Because when we walked away from God, we also brought natural and moral evil into the world. Moral evil is the suffering that occurs as a result of our own uncaring, selfish, and hateful actions. For example, if we look at famine, the world produces enough food for everyone to have 3,000 calories a day; however, it is a result of our own self centeredness that thousands of people around the world starve. It is a result of our own free will. Furthermore, natural evil can also be explained

Medieval Romance Compare And Contrast When someone thinks of a medieval romance, that person will more than likely think of these common characteristics: knights, quests, a lady, magic, romance, Christianity, and of course King Arthur. Medieval romances succeeded the epic of the 12th century, which was the main kind of story anyone ever wrote or read. There are many differences between an epic and medieval romance story. Epics tend to tell a story about a hero and how he must fight evil monsters, while romances tell how a knight expresses his chivalry through one or more quests. While an epic is more serious and usually consists of everyday life, a romance is more mysterious and usually about fantasies. Romances will more than likely be comical and end happy, while epics are very solemn and have a sad ending. Epics follow a straight path to the ending. The reader knows that the hero will fight some evil villain and win. Medieval romances are not like that. While the story does follow a slightly straight path to the end, the reader never knows what the protagonist will face on the way. The structure is very relaxed in a romance, while in an epic it is strict. The reader will know whether he is reading an epic or not by the amount of romance or love that is displayed. Epics do not contain love, and if they do, it is not much. There may be women in the story, but they are not usually part of the actual story. That is not true of medieval romances. It would no longer be a medieval romance if it did not contain romance throughout the story. In epics, the characters

These sets of statements are called theories and are much more than a simple list of facts and figures like you might find in an almanac or a telephone book (even though almanacs and telephone books are quite useful). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Understanding and quantifying measurement error is important in experimental science because it is a measure of how seriously we should believe (or not believe) our theories abut how the physical universe works. If I measure my mass to be 120.317 kilograms, that is a very precise measurement because it is very specific. It also happens to be a very inaccurate measurement because I am not quite that fat. My mass is considerably less, something like 85 kilograms. So, when we say that we have made a precise measurement we can also say that we have made a very specific measurement. When we say we have made an accurate measurement we are saying that our answer is close to the true value of the quantity. When we make measurements in the laboratory we should therefore distinguish between the precision and the accuracy of these measurements. The so called number of significant figures ( sig figs ) that a measurement contains indicates its the precision. In our mass example, the quantity 120.317 kilograms has 6 significant figures. This is rather precise as measurements go and is considerably more precise than anything you will ever measure in this course. Again, the fact that a measurement is precise does not make it accurate, just specific. In any event, it is useful to be familiar with how to recognize the number of significant figures in a

The conspiracy is the depicted in Sallust s historiography, Bellum Catilinae, as well as it is the subject of Ciceros most famous speeches, In Catilinam I IV. In addition to detailing this attempted rebellion, Sallust and Cicero also managed to create an image of the man which the conspiracy was named after, Catiline. Nearly two million Americans have some type of aphasia, with about 180,000 American s acquiring aphasia per year (NAA). There are many ways aphasia could be acquired such as, traumatic brain injury, infections, diseases or tumors. However, it is most commonly acquired by having a hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke. These events do not always lead to aphasia, but when they do, it is because the lesions are located in certain languagecenters of the brain, such as Broca s Area or Wernicke s Area. According to Schlaug, Marchina, and Norton (2008) about 600,000 to 750,000 strokes are documented each year in the US and around 20% of those who suffer from a stroke end up with some form of aphasia. Marie and her husband Pierre, who was also a French physicist, are both famous for their work in radioactivity. Marie Curie, originally named Marja Sklodowska, was born in Warsaw, Poland on Nov.7, 1867. Her first learning of physics came from her father who taught it in high school. Curie thus began studying uranium radiation and made it her doctoral thesis. With the aid of an electrometer built by Pierre, Marie measured the strength of the radiation emitted form uranium compounds and found it proportional to the uranium content, constant over a long period of time and influenced by external conditions. She detected a similar immutable radiation in the compounds of thorium. While checking these results, she made the discovery that uranium pitchblende and the mineral chalcolite emitted four times as much radiation as their uranium content. She realized that unknown elements, even more radioactive then uranium must be present. Then in 1898 she drew the revolutionary conclusion that pitchblende contains a small amount of an unknown radiating element. Pierre Curie understood the importance of this supposition and joined his wife s work. In the next year, the Curie s discovered two new radiating elements which they named Polonium(after Maries native country) and Radium. They now began the tedious and monumental task of isolating these elements so that their chemical properties could be determined. During the next four years, working in a leaky wooden shed, they processed a ton of pitchblende, laboriously isolating from it a fraction of a gram of radium. In 1903,

The varying frequencies and amplitude of these sound waves can be detected by the human ear. To the human ear, the frequency is perceived as pitch and amplitude perceived as loudness (Bies and Hanson, 2003). Sound pressure level is commonly expressed using a weighted system because the highest sound pressure level tolerated by the human ear is 10 million times larger than the smallest. There are many noise weightings which are a spectrum of amplitude vs frequency, designed to measure specific frequency ranges. When measuring environmental noise it is practical to measure only the frequencies that the human ear can hear. Epidemiological studies have indicated that the human auditory system is capable of detecting a frequency range between 20 and 20,000 Hz and is most sensitive to frequencies between 1 and 5 kHz (Peters et al., 2011). Considering this, a noise weighting system
