This paper analyzes heterogeneous traffic stream parameters at signalized intersections in India, emphasizing the inefficacy of current homogeneous design methods for this context. It presents a macroscopic stochastic model for traffic flow, speed, and density specific to Indian highways and identifies the need for new models reflecting the unique characteristics of Indian traffic. The study incorporates data collection via video recordings and applies statistical software to derive relationships between traffic parameters, concluding that existing models are inadequate and new equations for Indian traffic scenarios are necessary.
