The Whale By John Phillips
John Phillips Plot Ishmael meets Queequeg and they get hired together and board the whaling ship
Pequod, whose captain searches for the whale that bit his leg off. Ahab offers a gold doubloon as a
reward to motivate his crew to search for the whale with as much passion as he does. During the hunt,
they try to kill any other whales they see, Ishmael gives a run down on whaling, the crew come across
bad omens, and they meet ships devastated by Moby Dick in their search for the whale. After a three
day chase of the whale, Moby Dick destroys the Pequod and kills every crew member, except for
Ishmael, who survives by clinging to Queequeeq s coffin, and is then rescued by a ship that lost some
of its crew to Moby Dick. Characters Ishmael A cautious sailor aboard the Pequod, that worries too
much about his own safety and tends to make things seem worse than they actually are. He is not
afraid to speak his mind and he will rebuke anyone that tries to get a laugh out of messing with him.
When it comes to spending what little money he has, he is frugal, but will accept whatever he can get.
Ahab Captain aboard the Pequod, who is consumed by his hate for Moby Dick, has an ivory leg. He is
intimidating, a natural leader, and on a neverending quest for vengeance against the whale that bit his
leg off. As the story progresses, he dives deeper and deeper into the insanity of his obsession over
Moby Dick. Moby Dick An albino whale simply defending himself against the whalers

Comparing The Innocent Man By Ron Williamson And Dennis Fritz
Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz were arrested for a rape and murder they didn t commit. The
Innocent Man covers almost every detail regarding the victims lives, the suspects lives, the backstories
of the families, the in depth details of mental health, the judicial system, and more you can probably
think of. I recommend The Innocent Man to anyone who loves to learn about Crime, Lawyers, and the
exposing of corruption and bad police work. The Innocent Man is about 2 men who were wrongly
convicted of a crime they obviously didn t commit. Debra Sue Carter, 22, was found murdered and
raped in her apartment. She died of asphyxiation. Hair and Semen was left behind by the killer. The
Detectives found Ron Williamson and accused him of the crime. Dennis Fritz was another suspect, the
cops assumed there were 2 murderers who both participated in the rape. The two men suspected of the
crime served 12 years in prison each. Ron was sent to death row and Dennis got life in prison. ... Show

Both characters had a history of crime and misconduct. Ron and Dennis were both friends, so the cops
obviously had found their killers. If the cops had actually had investigated the crime and other
suspects, it would have been obvious they were innocent.
The characters definitely ran into problems whether it be bad police work, false evidence, lying
jailhouse snitches, Depression, suicidal thoughts, false lab tests, or anything else you can think of.
My favorite character was Barney Ward because he reminds me of a Marvel superhero by the name of
Daredevil, who is also a blind lawyer. My least favorite was Bill Peterson. He was the opposing
lawyer of Ron, and did a bad job. I feel I could relate a lot to Ron Williamson. He was the only boy
with his sisters, He was the youngest of the family, and He was Diagnosed with Bipolar and

Gang Vs Gang Case Study
J.T operates exactly like a franchise. J.T must pay a 20 percent due towards the board of directors of
the gang. The boards of directors are essentially the big bosses of the gang. Anything left over is a
profit for J.T, but he must handle the expense that the gang has. These costs can be separated as fixed
and variable cost. The fixed costs are the dues and the Extortionary taxes and the variable costs are
weapons or mercenary fighter. Any earning made after these cost go towards J.T pocket, which are tax
free. The similarity between a corporation and a gang is astonishing. An example of this is the
similarities that drug dealer and a newly hired corporate worker face. A drug dealer must face the
same initial obstacles that your everyday worker goes through. The drug dealers must start out at the
bottom as a foot solider , which is the case for a regular worker. An example of this is when an
aspiring accountant starts out as an intern of their future employment. The end goal for both of these

Durkheim s Sociological Perspective On Religion
Abstract
This work examines Durkheim s sociological approach to religion. Several central aspects of
Durkheim s approach are defined, including the concepts of religion, clan, and totem. The Totemic
Principle and how it can be applied to religion is also discussed. Supporting evidence for Durkheim is
offered through Eliade, while dissension is offered by Malinowski. This work concludes with an
example of Durkheim s ideas applied to the story of Lame Deer.
Background
Any discussion of Durkheim s views on religion from a sociological perspective should define exactly
what the sociological perspective regarding religion is. According to Roberts and Yamane (2012), for
sociologists, the study of religion takes into account more than merely the beliefs of the religion.
Religious institutions exist and the existence of these institutions is an important aspect of sociological
study (Roberts Yamane, 2012). Religious institutions affects not only beliefs but also behaviors that
sometimes run contrary to doctrine as with anything else concerning human beings, conflict is always
a possibility (Roberts Yamane, 2012). The behaviors of individuals within the context of religious
institutions and beliefs are also important to the sociological perspective (Roberts Yamane, 2012). As
such, sociology focuses on the interactions between influences of religion on society and society on
religion (Roberts Yamane, 2012); this deconstruction offers the lens through which this work

Shopping Vs. Online Shopping
We all know that shopping at stores requires us to go to mall or department stores in buying supplies
and spend our money. Now we live in the age of internet and buying things can now be done by
clicking a mouse. Because of the numerous benefits of shopping online more and more people these
days prefer online shopping over conventional shopping. But which one gives us the best benefits?
Our discussion centered on three differences between shopping at stores and shopping online.
Our first point of discussion is the dissimilarity between shopping at stores and shopping online is
time. Shopping in the stores spend more time than shopping online. A trip to the mall could take two
to three hours including transportation time. You must spend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many internet companies operate as online retailers only which means they don t have to pay any
intermediaries such as distributors and they don t have to hire sales people. Thus, they can pass some
of the savings to the customers by offering reduced prices. Internet also enables the customers to do
price comparisons in an instant, thus, they can buy from the online retailer that offers the best prices.
Internet companies are aware of this thus, they price their inventory competitively. Moreover,
companies get bigger audience of their products online so they often put clearance products on sale
and offer other deals to clear out inventory faster. Moreover, most customers are also able to save on
taxes because taxes are applicable only if the online retailer operates in the same state as the customer.
Shopping mall retailers have higher costs because not only they have to invest in physical property but
they also have to hire sales people and managerial staff. Their audience is only limited to the number
of visitors in the shopping mall at any time. Thus, they are forced to generate higher sales per
customers which mean higher prices on the average. It s also more expensive for the visitors to
compare prices in terms of both cost and time, thus, the shopping mall customers are at a

International Franchising
Abstract
This paper is concerned with evaluating the structure, history, cultural aspects, leading businesses, and
the future of international franchising. Franchising has become an increasingly popular market entry
mode, and the use of franchise systems for expansion into international markets is expected to
continue and perhaps intensify. (Arthur Anderson, 1996) These business franchises appear as hotel
chains, fast food restaurants, and many others. The first section examines the definition of franchising
by giving an overview of franchising from an international perspective. The historical section traces
this form of business ownership from its beginnings in the Middle Ages to the current trend in
international expansion. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the course of time, the regulations governing franchises became a part of European Common
Law. Throughout the centuries the franchising concept has evolved as the economies of the nations of
the world have evolved. During the early 1800s in Germany, certain major ale brewers granted
franchises to certain taverns, giving those taverns the exclusive right to sell their ale. This marked the
beginning of the concept of franchising as we know it today. In 1851, the Singer Sewing Company
became the forerunners of modern franchising agreements through the contracts that it would
associate with its franchising activities. In the 1880s, cities began to grant monopoly franchises to
street car companies and utilities for water, sewerage, gas, and later, electricity. Another stage in the
evolution of franchising came around the turn of the 20th century when oil refinery companies and the
automobile manufacturers began to grant the right to sell their products. Business format franchising,
which is the dominant mode of franchising today, came onto the economic scene after World War II
with the return of the millions of U.S. servicemen and women causing the subsequent baby boom.
Franchising became the ideal business model for the rapid expansion of the hotel/motel and fast food
industries. International franchising started its beginnings in the early 1960 s. However, the explosion
of the 1960s and 70s saw many forms of abuse in the

Strangeness And Isolation
Strangeness is an experience that occurs in everyday life. It can happen when we meet people from
different countries, when we travel to other countries or it can occur at home when we encounter
people who are strange to us. Thus, the stranger can be a visitor, a guest, a new comer or an
immigrant. In addition, foreigner, other or enemy are words that can be used as a synonym for
stranger. However, strangeness is not only related to people but also to situations, places, time or to
attitudes of other people, even to our undiscovered traits. In this sense, strangeness involves several
dimensions and aspects. George Simmel considers the stranger as a wanderer who comes today and

At the beginning; he is a stranger to Tomis, exiled in a culture that forbids him from his language, his
pride and his traditions. He draws a comparison between Tomis and Rome, and finds that Tomis lacks
color and civilization: No flower. No fruits. We are at the end of the earth.......We are centuries from
the notions of an orchard or a garden made simply to please p.7. However, the sight of the poppy is

that identity is to a large extent formed according to the place or society in which people live in, and
much of the social norms are constructed from the obedience and submissiveness to the conditions of

Why Is Divine Command Theory Morally Good
Philosophy 111

Divine Command Theory
Dan Glaser 20540143
Divine Command Theory is the idea that morality is grounded in God s nature, such that something
(i.e., a choice, behaviour, action, etc.) is morally good because it was commanded by God. Something
that is considered morally evil, is such because God forbids it from being done. For example, the bible
teaches us to love our neighbours and be generous and is there for considered morally good actions
because God commands it upon us. Likewise, it is considered morally evil to steal and murder because
God forbids it. If you believe that moral actions are good or bad because they are commanded or
forbidden by God, then every moral good or bad action must have been commanded or forbidden by
God. If the action was not commanded or forbidden, then they would not be considered good nor bad.
If God had commanded to hate thy neighbour , then Christians and Jewish people would behave in
that fashion. Plato s question of Is x good because God loves it or does God love x because x is good?
address this point by showing that moral code is somewhat arbitrary. ... Show more content on

This suggests that God is not the creator of morally good and morally bad, but rather a recognizer of
right and wrong. This suggests that God is also subject to moral law and is not the judge of morally
right and wrong like Divine Command Theory suggests. John Arthur (2005) mentions that If God
approves kindness because it is a virtue and hates the Nazis because they were evil, then it seems that
God discovers morality rather than inventing it. This is a problem for people who believe in Divine
Command Theory because it suggests that God is also subject to moral law and is not the omniscient
being that theists

Racial Segregation And Tension In The United States
Racial segregation and tension have existed in the United States of America since the country was first
discovered by the Spanish in the 1400s. From the genesis of the colonization of the new world, as it
was called, the Native American people were treated as an inferior species by the European settlers.
Over the course of time, in an act justified by the flawed concept of Manifest Destiny, these
indigenous people were forcibly removed from their land. Since then, in issues such as the shameful
practice of slavery, voting rights, and general segregation, racism has continued to infiltrate the social
dynamic of our country. This dilemma still persists today. It is evidenced in scenarios such as the
current tension between the African American population and police officers and the general racial
profiling that is present in all socioeconomic groups. The question is: How can we as a society accept
our differences while at the same time view each other as equals, thus eradicating this mindset of
dissention and hostility between the races? What can I do personally to, at the very least, improve the
situation in my circle of influence? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Racial discrimination has not limited to the United States; there is evidence of it in every culture and
people since the beginning of recorded time. Humans from all time periods seem to have in their
nature the innate tendency to judge and mistrust those that are unlike them. As a Christian, this age old
way of thinking is contrary to what I believe God intended for us when He created humans and the
world we live in. If we were all truly created equal in His image, as both the Bible and the United
States Declaration of Independence state, what is keeping us from getting along and living without
prejudice and

The Chained Dog, By Alfred Lord Tennyson And The Lady Of...
The Chained Dog
Throughout history civilizations have been governed by patriarchal societies dependent on the status
and respectability of men. Men held all the power while women were subservient and even sometimes
owned by men. This notion is only emphasized the moment we go back in time in the Victorian Era.
Women were subject to men s oppression, held no actual roles besides motherhood and were reliant on
their chastity to project an agreeable image of themselves and their spouse. The status of a Victorian
woman is depicted in The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Lord Tennyson and in a more feminist approach
in Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti as being dependent on their chastity, servitude to men, and
ability to present themselves.
During this era a women s depiction of not only herself but her husband was heavily reliant on her
chaste nature. Women would earn a good reputation, or be respectable, by remaining faithful to their
husbands and by only seeing them privately; inversely they would earn a poor one if they were known
to not, be moral, to be chaste, and faithful and God fearing, (...) (Caird 190). The respectability of
themselves and their spouse would be diminished the moment they did not present one of the above
qualities. A critique is made of this notion in both The Lady of Shalott and Goblin Market. The first
poem introduces us to the Lady of Shalott who is isolated in a tower and looks upon the world through
a mirror, however, the moment she stops

Peptic Ulcer Disease ( Peptic )
Peptic Ulcer Disease
Ever wonder how many diseases there are in the world? Well, there are tons. Some disease are more
harmful than others. With all the disease it is hard to choose which one is the best to learn. One
disease that is very fascinating is Peptic Ulcer Disease. A Peptic Ulcer is a sore on the lining of the
stomach or duodenum caused by Helicobacter pylori, which is a spiral shaped bacterium that is found
in the gastric mucous layer of the stomach, or NSAIDs. There is multiple things to learn about a
Peptic Ulcer: the history of one, what causes it, who can mostly get it, diagnosis, treatments, and
prevention.
In the early 20th century ulcers were believed to be caused my dietary and stress factors. If someone
was diagnosed with an ulcer they were hospitalized and put on a bland food diet. Then later on in the
20th century gastric acid was blamed for causing ulcers. So then treatment changed to antacids and
medication that stopped gastric acid. In 1982 Robin Warren and Barry Marshall identified that
Helicobacter pylori and ulcers were connected to each other. People did not accept their findings.
People still believed it was stress, diet, or gastric acid that caused the ulcers. Many years later in 1994,
A National Institutes of Health Consensus Development Conference concluded that Helicobacter
pylori was strongly related to ulcers and that the bacterium Helicobacter pylori could be treated with
antibiotics. Then, a year later in 1995 data showed that 75% of

When I Was Puerto Rican Character Analysis
When I Was Puerto Rican is a memoir detailing the author Esmeralda Santiago s life, which began in
her native home of Puerto Rico. Macun, a rural barrio is where she spends the beginning of her
childhood, exploring and living off the land. As the novel progresses she constantly moves from place
to place in Puerto Rico because of her parents rocky relationship. Towards the end of the novel as she
s getting older her mother decides that it is time to make the border crossing and move to New York
City in search of a new and better life for her family. Throughout the novel When I Was Puerto Rican,
coming of age is a resounding factor and her budding maturity helps her to overcome the struggles
that she and her family go through in Puerto Rico as well as during the border crossing and the life
that follows. I push my cart away, towards the apples and pears of my adulthood, their nearly seedless
ripeness predictable and bittersweet (p. 4), the novel begins with Esmeralda as an adult inspecting a
guava at a store in New York, bringing back memories of her childhood. While reminiscing on her
childhood she also refers to the predictability and boringness that comes with growing into adulthood.
The story of her childhood begins in a shack made of tin where her father Pablo, mother Ramona, her
two younger sisters and she live. They live in the barrio of Macun, where she enjoys the freedom and
simplicity of life in the countryside, she also takes advantage of the availability of

The Central Valley Of California
Study Area The Central Valley of California, United States, is a notable structural depression which
covers around 32,187km2 (Figure 1), and is bounded by the Cascade Range in the north, the Sierra
Nevada in the east, the Tehachapi Mountains to the South, and the Coast Ranges and San Francisco
Bay to the west (Planert 1995). The Valley has relatively flat topography, lying close to mean sea level
but is higher along the valley margins. Most of the valley boundary along the eastern edge is about
152m above mean sea level and most of the western boundary ranges from 15 107m above mean sea
level (Jennings 2010). In the past 100 years sea level has risen in the San Francisco Bay area by 10
20cm (Faunt 2009). The climate of the Central Valley area allows for the strong agricultural activity
year round (Johnston 1997), accounting for one sixth of the country s irrigated land. Irrigation in the
area relies on surface water deliveries and on groundwater withdrawal from the underlying regional

Hanger Limb Research Paper
Robotic Prosthesis
Prosthesis have been around since the early 1400 century. One of the first functioning limb
replacement was created around the renaissance times. It was a replacement hand for a general who
lost a hand in war. The hand was constructed from copper and steel.
By the late 1500 century, a French Army barber/surgeon Ambroise Paré was to be considered the
father of prosthesis surgery. He was one of the best when it came to saving enough limb to allow for a
prosthetic limb. By this time the advancement in these fake limbs had grown from crude made hands
to fully functioning legs. As the U. S. Civil War dragged on, the number of amputations rose
astronomically, forcing Americans to enter the field of prosthetics. james Hanger, one of the first
amputees of the Civil War, developed what he later patented as the Hanger Limb from whittled barrel
staves. (Kim M. Norton) For many years a perfect prosthetic was not a thought. Many people that had
to have a limb cut off would not have a very usable fake limb. Most of the time the remnants of the
limb where down in the field to soldiers and were not done properly. Since the limbs were cut off very
roughly many people would die do to disease. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Abuse Of Power In Macbeth
Throughout the course of time, humanity has viewed an individual with power as someone that
possess the qualities of unwavering strength, strong influence, and control. Although this is the case,
this individual can vary depending on the circumstances. For example, one could be a King who is the
overseer to all parts of his kingdom and is well known all around the world. The other could be a poor
common man living in the slums of this very kingdom, planning to overthrow that very king. One
might think that because the man is in such a small position compared to the king, he holds less power
and doesn t pose as a threat. Well, that s the type of thinking that ought to be the downfall to humanity.
We fail to realize, it might be the small common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although marriage between man and wife is usually based off of love and trust, they seem to show to
little affection for each other or for anyone except for their own ambitious dreams. During this time
period men were assumed to have more power than the women and were ahead of the household, but
this seemed to be the opposite for this odd couple. Lady Macbeth seems to hold power over Macbeth
even when she wasn t with him. This is evident when he looks to party with his wife once he finds out
he is to be Thane of Cawdor. He even writes to her and immediately leaves the King to tell her the
news he had just received. Upon hearing the news, we see that Lady Macbeth is already plotting the
murder of Duncan and is more ruthless than Macbeth(Shakespeare, pg.317 318). Shakespeare even
ties nature to Duncan s appending death by comparing him to a symbolic raven. In the text it states,
The raven himself is hoarse(.)That croaks the fatal entrance of Duncan under my battlements. Come,
you spirits(.) That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me, from the crown to the toe, top
full of direst cruelty ( Shakespeare, pg.318). This quote tells us that like Duncan, the raven is sick and
it can foresee Duncan s impending death. It also parallels Lady Macbeth to the witches because they
both speak of supernatural powers which, in this case , is to unsex her. This quote says that Lady

Current Issues in Quality and Safety Current Issues in Quality and Safety The safety of medication
administration has become a universal issue and crucial for one s wellbeing. The majority of
hospitalized patients are treated with medications (Agyemang amp; While, 2010). The medical
treatment of patients has a direct effect on the patient s quality of life. Srinivasan declared patients
have a right to know they are receiving safe care (as cited by Zhani, 2012, p. 1). The purpose of this
paper is to identify current quality and safety issues in healthcare, share the impact the issues have on
health care delivery, identify quality improvement strategies, and to reveal a plan to implement quality
improvement strategies. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nurses were required to confirm the right patient, medication, dosage, time, and route. The five rights
aided in the process but errors were still made. Nurses working long hours, mandatory overtime,
budget cuts, increased patient nurse ratio, and high patient acuities are also noted to contribute to the
increase of errors. For many of these issues there is not a quick remedy. Geiger shared the elimination
of retribution for medications errors would help decrease the effects associated with medication
administration. Quality Improvement Strategies Plan Nurses on the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

around the plain mirror that they have in their bathroom. Then, there are some steps that you have to
follow in installing the frames of your bathroom mirrors.
The first thing you have to do is to measure and select the frame style. You have to measure the mirror

The Theme Of Death In Slaughterhouse Five And Death
Slaughterhouse Five and Death There s a recurring theme throughout Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt
Vonnegut which permeates throughout the story from beginning to end. It s the idea that death is just
that. Death. One can argue that Vonnegut attempts to desensitize death through the Billy Pilgrim and
the Sci Fi story of the Tralfamadorians, but what if he is instead using these examples in order to
justify the exact opposite idea? By planting us into Billy Pilgrim s surreal and insane story filled with
destruction and soulless human action, it may on surface seem as if he is regarding death as a
meaningless construct, but what if he is instead trying to tell us that death should actually be
something regarded as monumental and crucial to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The simple phrase seems to follow concepts related to death throughout the first half of the novel, and
the melancholic and casual tone of the phrase parallel with the idea that death is something to gloss
over and not emphasize with. This idea by nature is comforting. It allows anybody to ignore deaths
and view them as unimportant. This comforting way of thinking simultaneously places the reader into
the psyche of Billy Pilgrim and his mentality. The phrase is repeated over a hundred times, and the
repetitive nature of it being stated brings the reader into the same mindset by sheer repetition.
Interestingly enough, the phrase is also very rarely placed alongside completely unrelated ideas. When
Billy Pilgrim uncorked a bottle of champagne on the kitchen table, It didn t make a pop. The
champagne was dead. So it goes (70). After nearly all of the prior utilization of the phrase so it goes is
used to accompany death, Vonnegut places it next to a moment which is anything but related to it. This
shatters the consistency of the quote and in a way, compares death to any small disappointing moment
in a life. The phrase resonates even more because now, it compares death to something like
overcooking a steak or dropping a cell phone. Doing this is, of course, comfortable. Over the course of
the novel, the reader becomes Billy Pilgrim, and adapts his fatalistic way of thinking. Though this may

Minnesota s Smartness
Minnesota has many smart, kind, and strong people, all in a beautiful and impressive state. Not only
are the people wise and welcoming, the geography of the state is picturesque too. Though Minnesota
may not have huge cities, or tropical vacation sites, it is one of the best states.
Minnesota has a plethora of smart people. By analyzing IQs, one will find Minnesota at the number
two spot, which is pretty high considering there are so many other states. Students here are known for
that exceeding intelligence, and that shows in the many tests we take. The amount of eighth graders
proficient in math or reading is 47.2%, which is the third highest in the USA. 47 percent may not seem
like a lot, considering Nova s standards, but only about one third of eighth graders in the US are at that
level. These high reading proficiency levels allow for Minneapolis to be called the Most Literate City.
The magazine Education Week named Minnesota the third best state for getting kids off to a good
start, and to allow them to progress academically. Another source, City Pages, named Minnesota the
second best state for education. The article stated our intellectual superiority trails only those Ivy

The Gold Bridge And The Bridge Collapse
Silver Bridge
4.1 Background
The Point Pleasant Bridge or so called the Silver Bridge was designed by the J.E. Greiner Company
and built by the Gallia County Ohio River Bridge Company to connect Point Pleasant, West Virginia
to Gallipolis, Ohio. It was designed as a two lane eye bar suspension type bridge, measuring 2,235 feet
in total length, including the approaches. The bridge was the first eye bar suspension bridge of its type
to be constructed in the United States. [26] Figure 4.1: The Bridge before collapse. [26] During the
early evening of December 15, 1967, the Silver Bridge collapsed during a period of heavy traffic and
46 people were killed. Another nine people were injured. Of the 37 vehicles on the bridge, 31 fell
during the collapse. After some forty years of service, the Point Pleasant Bridge collapsed without
warning. [27] Figure 4.2: The Bridge after collapse. [26] The bridge was constructed of carbon steel,
which tends to crack. Many cracks were found throughout the bridge among extensive corrosion.
Upon investigation, it was found that the collapse was due to a defective eye bar that experienced a
cleavage fracture in the lower part of its head which was resulted from stress corrosion and corrosion
fatigue. [26] Since the eye bars were not designed to be redundant, failure in one eye bar would
disrupt the continuity of the suspension system. This disruption is what caused the bridge to collapse
suddenly. The location of the flaw

William Edward Burghardt Du Bois known simply as W.E.B. was 83 when the government indicted

Du Bois overriding emphasis as a black activist was solidarity. As an intellectual, he believed he had a

In 1899, Du Bois published The Philadelphia Negro, a pioneering work of sociology. Du Bois

The Ordeal Of Elizabeth Marsh
A biography is defined as a written account of another person s life. The key word in the definition
being another person s life. Biographies are full of great information that can often times make history
fun and exciting. Historical phenomenon is often portrayed through biographies allowing us to see
how society has developed over time and how the past and present may be similar. Although
biographies are full of information often times it is impossible to prove them to be true because they
aren t written by the person themselves. Linda Colley s The ordeal of Elizabeth Marsh is a great
example of an exciting biography that allows us to learn about British Imperial Rule through someone
else s eyes. In Linda Colley s The ordeal of Elizabeth Marsh it becomes clear very quickly just how
much British Imperial Rule effected Elizabeth s life. British Imperial Rule was so strict that Elizabeth
was forced to marry a man that would offer her the most social advancement not only for herself but
for her father as well. She originally was supposed to marry Henry John Phillips because his family
was very high up on the social latter, however it didn t end up working out. Instead Elizabeth marries
pretends and later marries James Crisp, not necessarily because of love but again because of the social
standings that come with it. James Crisps social and financial background was much greater than
Elizabeth s lowering his overall wealthy and social standing. The seven year war also had

Cost is a huge problem when it comes to kids participating in youth sports. According to athlete
intelligence parents in the United States spend an average of $671 per year to cover different costs for
sports. These costs may include the participation fee, uniforms, lessons, or coaching from a private
club. As the kids get older they start participating in traveling leagues which can also be very costly.
Overtime all of those things add up and can become very costly for families This is just in youth
sports only, and the cost has increased and has been on the rise.
Another problem would be under trained coaches or coaches that are not properly taught how to coach
young children in youth sports. Farrey (2013) Only 1 in 5 coaches of youth teams of children under
age 14 say they have been trained in effective motivational technique, and just 1 in 3 in skills and

Introduction to Poetry Representation
Poetry is not just words formed into a line and a stanza; each poem is an opportunity to dance with the
poet to his or her significant song. Introduction to Poetry by Billy Collins is a reflection on how
readers should read poetry. This poem is about how readers should take the time to understand and
explore poetry. In addition, Billy Collins, also, states that readers should not torture poems and ignore
the significance each stanza represents, but dissect, enjoy, and appreciate the journey they will take
while reading poetry. Introduction to Poetry is a guide to readers in how to take more time enjoying
poetry and learning to understand the experiences poems portray. Billy Collins makes an observation
that readers should not just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He tries to get the readers to portray that poetry can be thrilling and adventurous. For instance, Collins
wants his readers to waterski across the surface of a poem / waving at the author s name on the shore
(9 11), which means he wants the readers to feel enthusiastic and thrilled while reading poetry.
Waterskiing is a daring and riveting sport that moves a person very quickly through the water.
Therefore, Collins compares reading to waterskiing because he wants his readers to read through a
poem like as if it were waterskiing across the surface of the water. The lake represents the poem in the
stanza, and the reader is waterskiing across the poem because he or she has a better understanding
towards the meaning. Therefore, it is easier for him or her to waterski across the poem (9 10). By the
reader waving at the name of the author on the shore (11), this line is another way of revealing
recognition towards the author s work.
However, Collins transitions the mood from excitement to a harrowing imagery portraying what
readers do to poetry. In the fifth stanza, Collins creates suspense because he states that the poem is
being tied to a chair with rope and tortured for a confession by the readers (12 14). This vivid and
dismaying imagery represents the poem as a prisoner being held captive and the reader as the torturer,
who is trying to squeeze out an understanding. By the poem being restrained, this depicts the poem s
lack of movement.

Chemoprevention Essay
Chemoprevention is assigned by either selecting prevention of esophageal acid exposure using proton
pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy or modulation of pro inflammatory mechanisms45. Proton pump
inhibitors (PPIs) are used generally in the handling of acid related disorders. They function by
permanently obstructing the hydrogen/potassium adenosine triphosphatase enzyme system (the
H+/K+ ATPase, or, more frequently, the gastric proton pump) of the gastric parietal cells. The proton
pump is the terminal stage in gastric acid secretion and is directly accountable for secreting H+ ions
into the gastric lumen, leading the pump to be an excellent target for preventing acid secretion.
Targeting the terminal step in acid production, as well as the irreversible nature of the inhibition,
results in a class of drugs that are considerably more efficient than H2 ... Show more content on

1999 the company has to cut $1.2 billion in costs and 19,900 jobs, or about one fifth of its payroll, the
most severe cutback ever at Kodak (Gavetti, Henderson and Giorgi 10). By 2001, Kodak was losing
$60 on every digital camera it sold (Gavetti, Henderson and Giorgi 10). During its time, Kodak has
faced multiple legal issues. One issue they faced was an antitrust suit with independent service
organizations. Kodak controls most of the service market and the market for its replacement parts. The
independent service organizations argued that Kodak was trying to force them out of business by
restricting their access to replacement parts and by trying to insure that customers for its business
machines either service the machines themselves or buy service directly from Kodak (Greenhouse).
Kodak was being accused of violating the Sherman Antitrust Act. The service companies believed that
Kodak was unlawfully tying the sale of service for Kodak machines to the sale of parts, and
unlawfully trying to monopolize the market for service (Greenhouse). According to the textbook,
Section 1 of the Sherman Act states that it is illegal to restraint trade in contract, trust or conspiracy

In reality, many arrests are carried out without a warrant. This is either because the Police are called to
the scene of a crime and must act rapidly, or because they do not know who is about to be arrested
before they deal with an incident and therefore could not get a warrant.
Section 24 of PACE (1984) sets out the general powers of arrest which may be exercised by the Police
as well as the public. However, S24 of PACE was substantially changed by the Serious Organised
Crime and Police Act (SOCPA, 2005). Section 110 of SOCPA replaced most of the existing powers of
arrest with a new general power of arrest. It also created Code G of PACE which sets out when an
officer might arrest. This power of arrest is only exercisable if the officer has reasonable grounds for
believing that it is necessary.

The Aging Process Essays
The Aging Process As we grow in to adulthood, many things start to change in our life. Aging is an
unavoidable process, beginning at conception and ending with death. The process does not proceed at
a uniform rate all over the body. As we age, the organ systems of individuals age at different rates. Our
body gradually slows down in early adult life. These changes are not apparent until perhaps 50 years
of age as they are not perceptible. The skeletal system gradually changes over the years until it is
porous and brittle, as the bones lose calcium and their density. This may be more pronounced in
women with menopause. These losses are multifactioral and involve age related changes (reduce CA
absorption, increased bone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thyroid gland often becomes lumpy (nodular). Metabolism gradually declines, beginning around
age 20. Parathyroid hormone affects calcium and phosphate levels affect the strength of the bones.
Some hormones are decreased, some unchanged, and some increased with age. Female reproductive
system has a number of changes. The cessation of menopause is an obvious sign of aging. A transition
period, called the climacteric, lasts for many years before and after a woman s last menstrual period.
Hormone levels change, physical changes in the woman s entire reproductive tract, and psychological
changes. The intricate relationship changes occur between the ovarian hormones and those produced
by the pituitary gland (in the brain). The ovaries stop releasing eggs (ova), and menstrual periods stop.
When hormone levels fall, the vaginal walls become less elastic, thinner, and less rigid. The external
genital tissue decreases and thins (atrophy of the labia). The pubic muscles lose tone, and the vagina,
uterus, or urinary bladder can fall out of position. A prolapsed of any of these structures increases the
risk of problems such as urine leakage. Decreasing amount of estrogen produced by the ovaries may
cause hot flashes, mood disturbances, headaches, and sleep disturbances are common symptoms that
occur during menopause. Male

Yemen s Humanitarian Crisis
What many individuals do not know is that Yemen is one of the worst humanitarian crises occurring
today. Yemen is located in the Middle East, north of the horn of Africa and south of Saudi Arabia.
Before the current conflict began, Yemen was already the poorest country in the Middle East, with half
of their population at or below the poverty line. Since 2004, a war between the Republic of Yemen
Government (RoYG) and the Houthi rebels began, which increased the humanitarian crises in Yemen
(Whitaker, 2011). This affects the citizens of Yemen as the unlawful airstrikes from Saudi Arabia are
harming the citizens rather than aiding the war efforts. The US should respond to the Humanitarian
Crisis in order for Yemen to become economically and politically ... Show more content on

Since Yemen was already considered a poor country, the conflict between the Republic of Yemen
Government and the Houthi rebels made matters worse. This led to Saudi Arabia contributing to
controversial air strikes with the intention to help reinstate President Hadi s position in the
government, which in turn is responsible for a great portion of civilian deaths. Having the US
involved to peacefully put an end to the war would help save many civilian lives. By doing so, the
crises in Yemen can be resolved adequately, and allow for the nation to prosper and grow once more.
The Republic of Yemen Government and Houthi rebels must come to a ceasefire and truce, but this
may only be reached by the assistance of the United

Understanding And Importance Of Following Orders
The purpose of this counselled essay is to explain my understanding and importance of following
orders. This essay will have several sections to explain different areas where following orders effects. .
I will cover the significance of following orders within the unit, prominence of following order within
the artillery world, results of failure to follow orders, and how following orders will help me in the
future. The importance of these procedures created by my superiors are apparent in a soldier s daily
life. Following Orders within the Unit To start this essay off I want to begin with the oath I took at the
beginning of my career. Considering this oath would be a revolving point in my paper I need to have it
as a basis. I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United
States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;
and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers
appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. To follow
orders within the unit promotes morale, Esprit de corps, the completion of tasks and details that
promote the benefit of the unit as a whole, and transition of communication in the unit. When orders
are not being followed, it creates a doubt within the mind of not only the Noncommissioned Officer,
but the other core leaders of the soldier. The soldier himself or

Patient Care Technicians ( Pct )
Patient care technicians (PCT s), formally known as nursing assistants, are the backbone to any
nursing department. They create rapport with the patients and family members, as well as the nursing
and medical staff. Some of the tasks PCT s are responsible for include: obtaining and recording vital
signs, collecting and labeling specimens, blood glucose specimen, and obtaining electrocardiograms
(ECG). All these tasks are important and critical in an emergency. PCT s designated to work in
medical surgical floors may not remember the steps for obtaining a good ECG reading. Like the
saying goes: if you don t use it, you lose it. The most common reason ECG s are misinterpreted is due
to incorrect lead placement. PCT s in critical settings such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other reasons for ECG s:
Stroke like symptoms
Dizziness
Epigastric abdominal pain
Shortness of pain
Altered mental status
Loss of consciousness
Upper back pain
Electrode Lead Placement Electrodes must be placed in the correct landmarks to prevent
misinterpretation of the ECG. If the electrodes are placed incorrectly, the ECG may read as ST
changes, electrical axis, location of bundle branch blocks and location of infarcts (Riddle, 2008, para.
5). During the ECG, a total of 10 electrodes are applied to the patient. Six electrodes (V1 V6) are
placed on the anterior chest in the proper anatomical landmarks, and these leads must be placed
precisely for an accurate ECG interpretation. Electrodes V1 and V2 are placed on the fourth
intercostal space with V1 on the right and V2 on the left (Riddle, 2008). Electrodes V3 V6 are placed
on the left chest wall on the fifth intercostal space in the following order: V3 to the right of V4, V4 at
the midclavicular line, V5 to the right of V6, V6 to the midaxillary line (Riddle, 2008). The remaining
four electrodes are placed on both upper and lower extremities without touching the chest.
Objectives for PCT Workshop on ECG placement
The PCT will be able to demonstrate correct lead placement
The PCT will be able to troubleshoot the ECG machine and obtain missing equipment
The PCT will demonstrate techniques

  • 3. Comparing The Innocent Man By Ron Williamson And Dennis Fritz Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz were arrested for a rape and murder they didn t commit. The Innocent Man covers almost every detail regarding the victims lives, the suspects lives, the backstories of the families, the in depth details of mental health, the judicial system, and more you can probably think of. I recommend The Innocent Man to anyone who loves to learn about Crime, Lawyers, and the exposing of corruption and bad police work. The Innocent Man is about 2 men who were wrongly convicted of a crime they obviously didn t commit. Debra Sue Carter, 22, was found murdered and raped in her apartment. She died of asphyxiation. Hair and Semen was left behind by the killer. The Detectives found Ron Williamson and accused him of the crime. Dennis Fritz was another suspect, the cops assumed there were 2 murderers who both participated in the rape. The two men suspected of the crime served 12 years in prison each. Ron was sent to death row and Dennis got life in prison. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both characters had a history of crime and misconduct. Ron and Dennis were both friends, so the cops obviously had found their killers. If the cops had actually had investigated the crime and other suspects, it would have been obvious they were innocent. The characters definitely ran into problems whether it be bad police work, false evidence, lying jailhouse snitches, Depression, suicidal thoughts, false lab tests, or anything else you can think of. My favorite character was Barney Ward because he reminds me of a Marvel superhero by the name of Daredevil, who is also a blind lawyer. My least favorite was Bill Peterson. He was the opposing lawyer of Ron, and did a bad job. I feel I could relate a lot to Ron Williamson. The boards of directors are essentially the big bosses of the gang. Anything left over is a profit for J.T, but he must handle the expense that the gang has. These costs can be separated as fixed and variable cost. The fixed costs are the dues and the Extortionary taxes and the variable costs are weapons or mercenary fighter. Any earning made after these cost go towards J.T pocket, which are tax free. The similarity between a corporation and a gang is astonishing. An example of this is the similarities that drug dealer and a newly hired corporate worker face. A drug dealer must face the same initial obstacles that your everyday worker goes through. • 7. Durkheim s Sociological Perspective On Religion Abstract This work examines Durkheim s sociological approach to religion. Several central aspects of Durkheim s approach are defined, including the concepts of religion, clan, and totem. The Totemic Principle and how it can be applied to religion is also discussed. Supporting evidence for Durkheim is offered through Eliade, while dissension is offered by Malinowski. This work concludes with an example of Durkheim s ideas applied to the story of Lame Deer. Background Any discussion of Durkheim s views on religion from a sociological perspective should define exactly what the sociological perspective regarding religion is. According to Roberts and Yamane (2012), for sociologists, the study of religion takes into account more than merely the beliefs of the religion. Religious institutions exist and the existence of these institutions is an important aspect of sociological study (Roberts Yamane, 2012). Religious institutions affects not only beliefs but also behaviors that sometimes run contrary to doctrine as with anything else concerning human beings, conflict is always a possibility (Roberts Yamane, 2012). The behaviors of individuals within the context of religious institutions and beliefs are also important to the sociological perspective (Roberts Yamane, 2012). As such, sociology focuses on the interactions between influences of religion on society and society on religion (Roberts Yamane, 2012); this deconstruction offers the lens through which this work ... Now we live in the age of internet and buying things can now be done by clicking a mouse. Because of the numerous benefits of shopping online more and more people these days prefer online shopping over conventional shopping. But which one gives us the best benefits? Our discussion centered on three differences between shopping at stores and shopping online. Our first point of discussion is the dissimilarity between shopping at stores and shopping online is time. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many internet companies operate as online retailers only which means they don t have to pay any intermediaries such as distributors and they don t have to hire sales people. Thus, they can pass some of the savings to the customers by offering reduced prices. Internet also enables the customers to do price comparisons in an instant, thus, they can buy from the online retailer that offers the best prices. Internet companies are aware of this thus, they price their inventory competitively. Moreover, companies get bigger audience of their products online so they often put clearance products on sale and offer other deals to clear out inventory faster. Moreover, most customers are also able to save on taxes because taxes are applicable only if the online retailer operates in the same state as the customer. Shopping mall retailers have higher costs because not only they have to invest in physical property but they also have to hire sales people and managerial staff. Their audience is only limited to the number of visitors in the shopping mall at any time. Thus, they are forced to generate higher sales per customers which mean higher prices on the average. It s also more expensive for the visitors to compare prices in terms of both cost and time, thus, the shopping mall customers are at a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. International Franchising Abstract This paper is concerned with evaluating the structure, history, cultural aspects, leading businesses, and the future of international franchising. Franchising has become an increasingly popular market entry mode, and the use of franchise systems for expansion into international markets is expected to continue and perhaps intensify. (Arthur Anderson, 1996) These business franchises appear as hotel chains, fast food restaurants, and many others. The first section examines the definition of franchising by giving an overview of franchising from an international perspective. Over the course of time, the regulations governing franchises became a part of European Common Law. Throughout the centuries the franchising concept has evolved as the economies of the nations of the world have evolved. During the early 1800s in Germany, certain major ale brewers granted franchises to certain taverns, giving those taverns the exclusive right to sell their ale. This marked the beginning of the concept of franchising as we know it today. In 1851, the Singer Sewing Company became the forerunners of modern franchising agreements through the contracts that it would associate with its franchising activities. In the 1880s, cities began to grant monopoly franchises to street car companies and utilities for water, sewerage, gas, and later, electricity. Another stage in the evolution of franchising came around the turn of the 20th century when oil refinery companies and the automobile manufacturers began to grant the right to sell their products. Business format franchising, which is the dominant mode of franchising today, came onto the economic scene after World War II with the return of the millions of U.S. servicemen and women causing the subsequent baby boom. Franchising became the ideal business model for the rapid expansion of the hotel/motel and fast food industries. International franchising started its beginnings in the early 1960 s. It can happen when we meet people from different countries, when we travel to other countries or it can occur at home when we encounter people who are strange to us. Thus, the stranger can be a visitor, a guest, a new comer or an immigrant. In addition, foreigner, other or enemy are words that can be used as a synonym for stranger. • 11. Why Is Divine Command Theory Morally Good Philosophy 111 Andrew Irvine September 25, 2014 Divine Command Theory Dan Glaser 20540143 Divine Command Theory is the idea that morality is grounded in God s nature, such that something (i.e., a choice, behaviour, action, etc.) is morally good because it was commanded by God. Something that is considered morally evil, is such because God forbids it from being done. For example, the bible teaches us to love our neighbours and be generous and is there for considered morally good actions because God commands it upon us. Likewise, it is considered morally evil to steal and murder because God forbids it. If you believe that moral actions are good or bad because they are commanded or forbidden by God, then every moral good or bad action must have been commanded or forbidden by God. If the action was not commanded or forbidden, then they would not be considered good nor bad. If God had commanded to hate thy neighbour , then Christians and Jewish people would behave in that fashion. Plato s question of Is x good because God loves it or does God love x because x is good? address this point by showing that moral code is somewhat arbitrary. ... • 12. Racial Segregation And Tension In The United States Racial segregation and tension have existed in the United States of America since the country was first discovered by the Spanish in the 1400s. From the genesis of the colonization of the new world, as it was called, the Native American people were treated as an inferior species by the European settlers. Over the course of time, in an act justified by the flawed concept of Manifest Destiny, these indigenous people were forcibly removed from their land. Since then, in issues such as the shameful practice of slavery, voting rights, and general segregation, racism has continued to infiltrate the social dynamic of our country. This dilemma still persists today. It is evidenced in scenarios such as the current tension between the African American population and police officers and the general racial profiling that is present in all socioeconomic groups. The question is: How can we as a society accept our differences while at the same time view each other as equals, thus eradicating this mindset of dissention and hostility between the races? • 13. The Chained Dog, By Alfred Lord Tennyson And The Lady Of... The Chained Dog Throughout history civilizations have been governed by patriarchal societies dependent on the status and respectability of men. Men held all the power while women were subservient and even sometimes owned by men. This notion is only emphasized the moment we go back in time in the Victorian Era. Women were subject to men s oppression, held no actual roles besides motherhood and were reliant on their chastity to project an agreeable image of themselves and their spouse. The status of a Victorian woman is depicted in The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Lord Tennyson and in a more feminist approach in Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti as being dependent on their chastity, servitude to men, and ability to present themselves. During this era a women s depiction of not only herself but her husband was heavily reliant on her chaste nature. Women would earn a good reputation, or be respectable, by remaining faithful to their husbands and by only seeing them privately; inversely they would earn a poor one if they were known to not, be moral, to be chaste, and faithful and God fearing, (...) (Caird 190). The respectability of themselves and their spouse would be diminished the moment they did not present one of the above qualities. With all the disease it is hard to choose which one is the best to learn. One disease that is very fascinating is Peptic Ulcer Disease. A Peptic Ulcer is a sore on the lining of the stomach or duodenum caused by Helicobacter pylori, which is a spiral shaped bacterium that is found in the gastric mucous layer of the stomach, or NSAIDs. There is multiple things to learn about a Peptic Ulcer: the history of one, what causes it, who can mostly get it, diagnosis, treatments, and prevention. In the early 20th century ulcers were believed to be caused my dietary and stress factors. If someone was diagnosed with an ulcer they were hospitalized and put on a bland food diet. Then later on in the 20th century gastric acid was blamed for causing ulcers. So then treatment changed to antacids and medication that stopped gastric acid. In 1982 Robin Warren and Barry Marshall identified that Helicobacter pylori and ulcers were connected to each other. People did not accept their findings. People still believed it was stress, diet, or gastric acid that caused the ulcers. It was a replacement hand for a general who lost a hand in war. The hand was constructed from copper and steel. By the late 1500 century, a French Army barber/surgeon Ambroise Paré was to be considered the father of prosthesis surgery. He was one of the best when it came to saving enough limb to allow for a prosthetic limb. By this time the advancement in these fake limbs had grown from crude made hands to fully functioning legs. As the U. S. Civil War dragged on, the number of amputations rose astronomically, forcing Americans to enter the field of prosthetics. james Hanger, one of the first amputees of the Civil War, developed what he later patented as the Hanger Limb from whittled barrel staves. • 23. The Theme Of Death In Slaughterhouse Five And Death Slaughterhouse Five and Death There s a recurring theme throughout Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut which permeates throughout the story from beginning to end. It s the idea that death is just that. Death. One can argue that Vonnegut attempts to desensitize death through the Billy Pilgrim and the Sci Fi story of the Tralfamadorians, but what if he is instead using these examples in order to justify the exact opposite idea? By planting us into Billy Pilgrim s surreal and insane story filled with destruction and soulless human action, it may on surface seem as if he is regarding death as a meaningless construct, but what if he is instead trying to tell us that death should actually be something regarded as monumental and crucial to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The simple phrase seems to follow concepts related to death throughout the first half of the novel, and the melancholic and casual tone of the phrase parallel with the idea that death is something to gloss over and not emphasize with. This idea by nature is comforting. It allows anybody to ignore deaths and view them as unimportant. This comforting way of thinking simultaneously places the reader into the psyche of Billy Pilgrim and his mentality. The phrase is repeated over a hundred times, and the repetitive nature of it being stated brings the reader into the same mindset by sheer repetition. Interestingly enough, the phrase is also very rarely placed alongside completely unrelated ideas. When Billy Pilgrim uncorked a bottle of champagne on the kitchen table, It didn t make a pop. The champagne was dead. So it goes (70). After nearly all of the prior utilization of the phrase so it goes is used to accompany death, Vonnegut places it next to a moment which is anything but related to it. This shatters the consistency of the quote and in a way, compares death to any small disappointing moment in a life. The phrase resonates even more because now, it compares death to something like overcooking a steak or dropping a cell phone. Doing this is, of course, comfortable. Over the course of the novel, the reader becomes Billy Pilgrim, and adapts his fatalistic way of thinking. Though this may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, Billy Collins, also, states that readers should not torture poems and ignore the significance each stanza represents, but dissect, enjoy, and appreciate the journey they will take while reading poetry. For instance, Collins wants his readers to waterski across the surface of a poem / waving at the author s name on the shore (9 11), which means he wants the readers to feel enthusiastic and thrilled while reading poetry. Waterskiing is a daring and riveting sport that moves a person very quickly through the water. Therefore, Collins compares reading to waterskiing because he wants his readers to read through a poem like as if it were waterskiing across the surface of the water. The lake represents the poem in the stanza, and the reader is waterskiing across the poem because he or she has a better understanding towards the meaning. Therefore, it is easier for him or her to waterski across the poem (9 10). By the reader waving at the name of the author on the shore (11), this line is another way of revealing recognition towards the author s work. However, Collins transitions the mood from excitement to a harrowing imagery portraying what readers do to poetry. In the fifth stanza, Collins creates suspense because he states that the poem is being tied to a chair with rope and tortured for a confession by the readers (12 14). This vivid and dismaying imagery represents the poem as a prisoner being held captive and the reader as the torturer, who is trying to squeeze out an understanding. By the poem being restrained, this depicts the poem s lack of movement. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chemoprevention Essay Chemoprevention is assigned by either selecting prevention of esophageal acid exposure using proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy or modulation of pro inflammatory mechanisms45. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are used generally in the handling of acid related disorders. The proton pump is the terminal stage in gastric acid secretion and is directly accountable for secreting H+ ions into the gastric lumen, leading the pump to be an excellent target for preventing acid secretion. The pubic muscles lose tone, and the vagina, uterus, or urinary bladder can fall out of position. A prolapsed of any of these structures increases the risk of problems such as urine leakage. Decreasing amount of estrogen produced by the ovaries may cause hot flashes, mood disturbances, headaches, and sleep disturbances are common symptoms that occur during menopause. Male ... Other reasons for ECG s: Stroke like symptoms Dizziness Epigastric abdominal pain Shortness of pain Altered mental status Loss of consciousness Upper back pain Electrode Lead Placement Electrodes must be placed in the correct landmarks to prevent misinterpretation of the ECG. If the electrodes are placed incorrectly, the ECG may read as ST changes, electrical axis, location of bundle branch blocks and location of infarcts (Riddle, 2008, para. 5). During the ECG, a total of 10 electrodes are applied to the patient. Six electrodes (V1 V6) are placed on the anterior chest in the proper anatomical landmarks, and these leads must be placed precisely for an accurate ECG interpretation. Electrodes V1 and V2 are placed on the fourth intercostal space with V1 on the right and V2 on the left (Riddle, 2008). Electrodes V3 V6 are placed on the left chest wall on the fifth intercostal space in the following order: V3 to the right of V4, V4 at the midclavicular line, V5 to the right of V6, V6 to the midaxillary line (Riddle, 2008). The remaining four electrodes are placed on both upper and lower extremities without touching the chest. Objectives for PCT Workshop on ECG placement The PCT will be able to demonstrate correct lead placement The PCT will be able to troubleshoot the ECG machine and obtain missing equipment The PCT will demonstrate techniques ...
