Function words
 Words that connect important information
 Add little meaning beyond defining the
relationship between two words.
 It includes auxiliary verbs, prepositions,
articles, conjunctions, and pronouns.
Auxiliary Verbs
 Used to establish the tense:
 Examples:
 Do, be have (help with conjugation of tense)
 Do, has, will, is, has been, did
Preposition
 shows relationship in time and space
 Example:
 In, at, through over, between under
Articles
 shows us something that is specific or one of
many.
 Indicate specific or non-specific nouns
 Example:
 a, an, the
Conjunctions
 These are the words that connect
 Example:
 F,A,N,B,O,Y,S
Pronouns
 Refer to the other noun, it is also the
substitute of nouns
 Example:
 I, you, him, she, us, ours, she
