Examples Of Figurative Language In Night By Elie Wiesel
Figurative language can be used to develop different themes within writing. Elie Wiesel uses
figurative language to show his theme of hopelessness in his memoir, Night. For instance, he writes,
They passed me by, one after the other, my teachers, my friends. ... Some of whom I had once feared,
some of whom I had found ridiculous, (Wiesel 17). This repetition definitely shows the feeling of
hopelessness that he must have had during this time. Reading this, I feel bleak. Bleakness being very
close to helplessness. The repetition puts this feeling on you, and this makes it a very effective piece
of figurative language. Reading further along I see another literary device. They passed me by, like
beaten dogs, (Wiesel 17). This simile is an even

Ally s Welcome Home-Personal Narrative
Welcome Home It has been fifteen year since the killing of Ally s father. Now her brother, Matthew,
was leaving her to stage four lung cancer. Ally was a twenty eight year old lady, and her skin tone was
white. She had blue eyes and blond hair. Matthew, her brother, was Ally s protector, he was her savior,
and now Ally felt all alone in this dangerous world. She knew that she could not continue their
business by herself. On the day of her brother s funeral, Ally was so determined to go. She was all
dressed in black, and she had her hair nicely pinned up. But right as she was about to leave, she
stopped in the doorway of her front entrance. She panicked at the sight of daylight and fresh air,

I m going to finish Ally off for good. Dion whispered to Josh, She killed our brother and she must pay.
So go while you still have the chance. Dion was committing suicide and they both knew it, yet Josh
still obeyed his brother s orders and kept going while Dion searched the house for Ally once again.
Ally darling come out come out wherever you are. Dion chanted. Out of nowhere Ally came out of the
closet and attacked Dion. Then *BANG* the gun had went off. Josh stopped dead in his tracks, but by
this time Josh had already made his way out of the house and was about to leave the front yard. Josh
hoped for Dion to come out of the house, what now seemed so dark, but Dion never did. Ally was the
one who showed up and stood in the doorway, knowing she could not still leave the house. Later that
evening, Ally was arrested and put was into a mental facility. Just like Ally inherited her father s
psychoticness, it was then passed down to Josh. Four years after the incident, Josh came back to Ally,
he helped her escape the facility, and together Ally and Josh continue the business her and her brother
had. Welcome home sweetie. You now go by the name Sage, and this here is now forever your room.

Wellesley Country Club Summary
I enjoyed the opportunity to conduct this short visit at Wellesley Country Club with Mr. Sansone on
May 19, 2016. It was good to see the golf course in such good condition with negative impacts from
the winter season. The turf was in good agronomic condition as we head into the summer season. We
used our time together to tour the golf course and also to discuss the preparation for the Championship
in September. Our topics included agronomic practices but also looked at the staffing issues and
management programs that will be requested for the Championship. The following report summarizes
our discussions and the recommendations that were provided. GREENS General Maintenance

Latin American Culture And Globalization
Economy: An expanding international commitment to free trade among countries has internationalized
the market for goods; people have access to goods that were previously out of reach. Finally, in
addition to the exchange of goods across borders, traders move billions of dollars daily with the click
of a mouse. Some countries have been helped by the newly emerging economic order because they
have the resources to expand production worldwide and to create goods that are in demand
internationally. On the other hand, some countries and individuals have been hurt because they are not
able to compete with the strongest producers internationally. The United States is one of the world s
leading exporters and maintains a lead in many of the future s most promising industries, including
biotechnology, space technology, and computer software. U.S. corporations have sought a competitive
edge by taking advantage of cheap labor in Latin America and Asia. ... Show more content on

In one sense, globalization has produced strong pressures for harmonization of values around the
world, in particular, a value in universal human rights. In another important sense, globalization has
resulted in the emergence, interaction, and competition of many different value systems on the global
stage. While there have always been debate and discussion within cultures about values, globalization
has brought these debates to a global scale. Sometimes the interaction of differing value systems has
been a source of positive change and growth. The globalization of culture and values has brought
Western conceptions of democracy and liberty to many areas of the world in the last twenty five years.
In many cases, the internet and popular culture have helped to spread those ideas. Many people resent
the Americanization of the world and feel that the forces of globalization threaten their

Proposal For HVAC Units Replacement At Palo Verde High School
Listed as the first action item needing approval at the Sept. 5, Palo Verde Unified School District
School Board meeting, was item N.1 Desert Quality, Inc., Proposal for HVAC Units Replacement at
Palo Verde High School.
Requiring an unanimous vote to dismiss the use of the bidding process, only three board members
voted in favor of rapidly getting air conditioners fixed in the three special education classrooms at
PVHS.
Presented to the board of trustees by School Board President Jamie Mullion and Superintendent
Charles Bush was the need for three separate installation of six air conditioners/heating units.
As submitted by the business services department, six units went down at the beginning of the 2017

However, at the meeting, the board simply felt that it wasn t an emergency and turned down the item.
It s their decision to make and they had the right to make it, and they simply want us to go through the
process, Bush shared with the Times. Unfortunately we have some stuff going on, where in one
building we have three units broken and in one of those classrooms it s extremely hot, and our nurses
unit is cooled by that unit, and that s hot. Then there s another unit working fairly well, so if we leave
the doors open to the other classrooms, the one that is working fairly well, that room can stay cool,
and the room next door can stay about mid 80s. Consequently, with the bid not approved, Bush also
shared, Now we have to work on finding classroom space and moving students out of there...We have
to move one class out quickly, and the nurse as soon as we find a space, because it s just too hot to
work in there.
Hoping to keep the one to two units working, that are spitting out somewhat cool air until the bid
process is complete, Bush said, his main concern still is the County

Senior Seminar Project
For my senior seminar project, I wish to complete a community event. With about 10 kids from the
Youth Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30 4:15, I plan to have a t ball clinic. I
plan to use the field at the Bow Youth Center as a location for my clinic, in which there will be 3
different stations hitting, throwing, and fielding. The stations will be run on Mondays and
Wednesdays, and on Fridays, there will be a t ball game in which kids will be able to put their learned
skills to use. For the volunteer hours, I plan to job shadow the PE teacher at Abbot Downing School in
Concord. I will drive down 4 times a week (Tuesday/Thursday from 11:45 to 1:00 and
Wednesday/Friday from 1:30 2:30) and complete my job shadow, which could involve anything from

positive effects of playing sports at a young age. I feel like this topic is important because sports have
always been prevalent in society, but in the past decade or so, there has been more of a push, or
movement, to get the younger generation involved in youth sports. I hope to find out the cause of this
major push to find out why it is important for kids to play sports at a young age. Through job

the immediate positive effects of athletics on young kids, which could possible be anything such as

comparisons with numeric values and trends in data within literature are applicable. The results which
were shown in figure 1 for the CMAPs where the amplitude of the CMAPs increased as the perceived
tension increased were to be expected. Because in order for a greater force to be applied there must be
increased force of contraction, which the amplitude demonstrates, through electrical activation
intensity. Also frequency of contraction may be increased aswell, as more muscle fibres are recruited
when an increased effort is exerted, however in the figure it is hard to determine whether there has

Body Modification And Human Physical Appearance
From culture to culture, body modification can be viewed as a true positive expression of one s
identity or viewed as forbidden and the person is shunned from society forever. In corporate America,
it is considered taboo and will not earn respect or a job. In rural America, you are perceived as unclean
and destroying the perfect body God gave you. But, in urban America on the streets of Brooklyn, the
person is unique and exciting. Body modification or the deliberate altering of the human anatomy or
human physical appearance (Dictonary.com) can be achieved in many ways. Some of the more
extreme ways are facial and body piercing and tattoos however, something as small as a basic ear
piercing still counts as modification. Many African and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These people could show their similarity through the use of similar scarification patterns, similar ear
stretching methods, and similar neck stretching technics. This modification also showcases the
expressions of the wearer. The wearer could have scars to show age and importance or scars to show
marital status and wealth. Tribal people, such as PaDaung women of Thailand, use different forms of
modification to flaunt their wealth and marital status in the act of stretching their neck with brass
rings. The origins of this tradition is said to be due to rendering the women incapable of farming or
heavy labor (Jefkin Elnekave) which in turn protects the women from being kidnapped by slave
traders which is very common in this part of Asia. So, in essence this form of modification actually
protects these women. This implies that modification as a whole is used in most cultures as a form of
invisibility. People in these cultures ultimately, assume the characteristics associated the modification
and strive to live up to the ideals the modification stands for.
Furthermore, the Bume of Ethiopia use body scarification as a form of personal achievement earned
after a hunt or kill. These scares are given in a complex ritual. This modification is a rite of passage
into adulthood for many African tribes. The scarring emulates the manliness of the wearer. The scars
show off their achievements and are very prestigious and aid these men in finding a

Essay The Psychodynamic Approach
The psychodynamic approach focuses on individuals who behave in a certain way due to having
emotional feelings buried deep inside their unconscious mind. The theory was developed by Sigmund
Freud who was a psychologist. The use of the psychodynamic approach within health and social care
helps individuals understand and support patients who are undergoing the psychodynamic process as it
is generally used around the world. This essay aims to show my understanding of the approach and the
ways health and social care workers could apply the theory to a health and social care setting. By
explaining what psychodynamic counselling is and how it helps individuals it shows how I am able to
identify the solutions to the problems.

It is the part that makes people obey the rules and that makes them behave the way they do. It judges
people, criticizes them, and makes them feel guilty when they do something incorrect. It is what
makes people feel guilty and ashamed, it is their inner judge. It is the part of personality which holds
all of individual s ideals that are required from parents and society (individual s sense of right and
wrong). The Super Ego provides guidance in creating judgments. Freud had stated that the Super Ego
starts to appear at age five.
There are two parts of the Super Ego: * The Ego Ideal this involves the rules and standards for good
behaviour. These behaviours consist of those which are permitted by parental and other authority
figures. Following these rules leads to feelings of pride, value and achievement
* The Conscience consists of details about things that are thought of being bad by parents and society.
These sorts of behaviours are regularly not allowed and lead to bad consequences, punishments or
feelings of guilt and remorse.
The Superego s purpose is to act and improve the behaviours of individuals. It operates to suppress all
inappropriate urges which comes from the id and struggles to make the ego act upon the idealistic
standards rather than upon realistic principles. The Superego is present in the conscious, preconscious
and unconscious.
The Id, Ego and Super Ego are functions of the mind

Bend It Like Beckham Character Analysis
Through the use of cinematic techniques, Hidden figures, a movie directed by Theodore Melfi and
Bend it like Beckham by Gurinder Chadha both explore the dangers that are inherent in a marginalised
society. Each text demonstrates that hope for change is needed in society as it can build the
momentum for an individual to strive. Through these texts, we see that people have no conscience
about harming others until they learn the truth about their circumstances. This is depicted by the way
in which Jess coach Joe behaves after learning about her cultural expectations in Bend it like
Beckham. Similarly, this is shown in Hidden Figures by Mr. Harrison. Both directors emphasise that
the abuse of power leads to corruption and this can be seen through the segregation between the black
and white people in Hidden Figures and the way in which cultural values overrule the lives of the
Bhamra s in Bend it like Beckham. Both characters highlight the importance of creating opportunities
rather than seeking it, this is shown when Mary Jackson goes to court for educational rights in Hidden
Figures and in Bend it like Beckham when Jess stands up to her father who appears to be patriotic
about his cultural values. The resolutions to both texts justify that determination comes from within
and that though many factors can outweigh a person s ability to triumph, consistency can lead to
rewarding results. As an audience we are able to further increase our understanding of perseverance

Voodoo In South Louisiana
New Orleans had all the trapping of the metropolitan life, including its own flavor of Voodoo. It was

The Hoodoo spirit made its way into the bayous of Southern Louisiana, but Voodoo s formal

The fascinating life work of Diane Arbus Diane Nemorev was born on March 14, 1923 in New York
City, NY, and grew up in Central Park West, NY. She was the child of wealthy Jewish parents but was
mainly raised by several governesses. Because of that, she did not have a good relationship with her
parents and often felt alone. Diane felt unreality in her life. When Diane learned new things, she had
the feeling she couldn t experience it. As a child she painted at school. Diane hated painting and when
she graduated from High School, she stopped immediately. Painting made her feel shaky, because

Arbus was also one of the first photographers to combine daylight with a flash. She started
photographing freaks and eccentrics, including transvestites, people with mental disabilities, dwarves,
etc., but also nudists and ordinary people. Diane would go to the park or in the streets and walk up to
people to speak with them and take their portrait. She would also go to their homes to photograph
them. She loved these people and would approach them with respect. When Arbus would photograph
a freak she would get a mixture of shame and strangeness. She didn t like to photograph people or
subjects that are known. Arbus thought people or subjects that are unknown were fascinating, when
they are well known she would get blank about them. In 1960 she decided to work as a freelance
photographer. She earned her money especially by taking photographs for magazines. She also wrote
several articles. Between the period of 1960 and 1971, Diane published more than 250 pictures and
more than 70 articles in different magazines. She wrote 18 articles and published 31 pictures in the

True Dimensionality of Space-Time
Allan Poe states in his essay on cosmology titled Eureka, that space and duration are one. To many,
this is portrayed as the first known instance of suggesting space and time to be joined together as one
thing. Albert Einstein s 1905 theory of special relativity is the very beginning of a theory related
concept of spacetime, but the first mathematical theory of spacetime actually created by one of his
own early teachers named Hermann Minkowski. He created the concept of Minkowski Space which is
the earliest recommendation to the treatment of space and time as two separate entities of one unified
whole. The idea of Minkowski space has led up to special relativity being viewed more so in a
geometrical way rather than a scientific and mathematical way. Minkowski space is described as the
mathematical formation for which special relativity can be conveniently formulated. In this setting the
three dimensions of space are combined with one dimension of time to create a four dimensional
whole expressed together as spacetime.
It would be considered extremely important to consider the events that space and time can ultimately
affect each other and how space and time are used in cosmological research. However, before
touching base with the concept of space time, it seems appropriate to tie together the two basic types
of dimensions and how they are ultimately applied to each other. Space time is closely linked with
Albert Einstein s theory of special relativity, mathematician

Polonius Mad For Thy Love Analysis
Sohee Mun
Professor Christine Gottlieb/TA Lauren King
English 91b

Polonius theory of love assumes that Love can make someone mad
The feeling of love can make a person mad. Hamlet portrays Hamlet who seems mad for the love he
has for Ophelia. When Polonius is speaking to his daughter, he says about the madness that Hamlet
has for their love, Mad for thy love? (2.1.83). The words mad and love makes the syntactic structure
that Polonius makes for Hamlet. Love is the subject in Hamlet and Polonius seems to depict a special
kind of love through his daughter Ophelia, and Laertes. However, the words by Polonius to the queen,
the cause of this effect, / Or rather say, the cause of this defect (2.2.101 2), are reflective of the phrase
that claims about Hamlet s madness.
Love is an intense feeling that makes an individual to feel attracted to something or someone. The
claim that is laid by Polonius, Mad for thy love? (2.1.83) is a depiction of a feeling that has grown so
much intense that it has swayed Hamlets mind, he is not configuring anything in his thought properly.

him lose grip on reality since the situations to manage are emotionally difficult. Also, Ophelia is truly
insane which makes him lose the vestige of self knowledge and exposure. The love for each other
eventually end up with madness for both Hamlet and Ophelia. The author used madness as the vehicle
for advancing plot nicely to the direction needed to flow. Furthermore, insanity is used to reveal the

What The Weeknd did in 2011 needs to be recognized and not just because I say so, it needs to be
recognized because this was the moment Toronto started a growing movement that can be felt today,
but it really started in late December of 2010. Because in late December of 2010, three songs were
uploaded by The Weeknd and these songs were Loft Music, What You Need and The Morning. 3
months later, The Weeknd would go on to drop his critically acclaimed House Of Balloons mixtape.

this point, The Weeknd had given away 18 tracks through both tapes. There was even a Drake feature.
Drake and The Weeknd were the sound in Toronto all throughout 2011. The Weeknd would then give

The Fight For Clean Drinking Water
Drinking a glass of water does not usually stir up thoughts of injustice. If it in someway did, it would
probably be over concern for those in underdeveloped countries who struggle to get clean drinking
water. Yet, the struggle to attain clean drinking water occurs in the United States as well and especially
for minorities. Regulations in the Federal Safe Drinking Act often go unmet and the purpose of the
Safe Water Drinking Act unfulfilled as minority dominant and poor communities often have the most
severe and pervasive health violations of their drinking water. Unfortunately, this occurs right here in
the San Joaquin Valley. The Valley demonstrates environmental injustice in the types of communities
that experience nitrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2007, 75% of nitrate violations in water in California happened in the San Joaquin Valley and the
source of the increased nitrates in groundwater is most certainly from the large agribusiness in the
valley. The United States Geological Survey concluded the agriculture was the main source of nitrate
pollution in both ground and surface water as there is at least 6.6 million acres of irrigated crop land in
the Valley and each acre creates about 80 pounds of nitrogen every year. Nitrogen is commonly found
in pesticides and fertilizer and it seeps into the ground as nitrates. Animal waster is another byproduct
of farms and about 1 to 2.5% of manure created by the Valley s 1.6 million dairy cows is nitrogen.
Overall, fertilizers and animal waste applied to crops create 96% of nitrate contamination of drinking
water in California. While agriculture and resulting ground water problems is far from unusual, the
water situation in the San Joaquin Valley is rather ironic. Ninety percent of residents in the Valley rely
on groundwater for drinking water. Farmers receive state and federal water subsidies for irrigation
purposes that is not highly contaminated with nitrates. Farmers receive water both from California s
Bay Delta and from more local runoff from the Sierra Nevada. They receive this water at about $70

Throughout the book: The Sun Also Rises alcoholism is a part of the whole book. Every character that

Technology And Cancer
Many people have asked if technology affects people s bodies in negative ways, and many studies
have researched this question. It turns out that thousands of studies have discovered that too much
screen time and using too much technology is directly linked to multiple diseases and even cancer.
Many of these diseases are fatal and cause major damage to your body, if we don t limit our use of
technology we could all contract these terrible diseases.
One of multiple causes of anxiety and depression other than trauma, stress, genetics, etc, is actually

The type of radiation cell phones give off is called radio frequency (RF) radiation. This radiation can
go through your body and cause major damage to your tissues and cells. In fact, the World Health
Organization (WHO) even classified this type of radiation as a possible 2B carcinogen (Burrell).
There are also thousands of studies saying cell phones cause cancer, one study is the Interphone Study,
this study concluded that regular use of a cell phone by adults can significantly increase the risk of
gilomas by 40% with 1640 hours or more of use (Burrell). This equals out to about 30 minutes per day
for ten years. Another study done by the Hardell Research Group concluded that using cell phones
gives you an increased risk of developing gilomas or acoustic neuromas (Burrell). Another study done
in the UK in 2013 studied 790,000 women and found that women using cell phones at least 10 hours a
day are 2 1/2 times more likely to acquire an acoustic neuroma (Burrell). In the 1990s, at the
University of Washington, Professor Lai linked cell phone radiation exposure directly to single
stranded DNA breaks. This is important because, micronuclei proliferation indicates a type of DNA
damage strongly associated with cancer (Burrell). Not only can cell phones give you two different
types of deadly brain tumors, but it can also give you eye cancer, lymph node cancer, breast cancer,
thyroid cancer, stem cell cancer, leukemia, paratoid malignant tumors, cancer of the pituitary gland,
melanomas, and it can damage your DNA, which in turn can lead to cancer (Burrell). To conclude,
major damage can be done to your brain and whole body if too much time is spent

What Are The Challenges Of Coul Ullman s Decentralized...
JCP is a company which consistently maintained a 100 year old tradition. JCP is a dry goods and
clothing store established by James Cash Penney in partnership with his employers and merchants. It
started expanding its stores since then and by 1930 the number of stores were 1452 and the number of
associates (employees) were about 25,000. The core growth strategy adopted by the company was
decentralized merchandizing when its competitors adopted centralized merchadizing . This started
showing up problems for the company as their strategy could not show the daily updates of the sales

and even hindered new recruits to enter the company. This made Ullman to build a new culture which

redefining the culture at JCP with the help of the newly appointed HR chief, Michael Thielmann. He
made various symbolic changes incuding a campaign called Just call me Mike which is intended to
encourage all the associates of the company to address each other by their first names irrespective of
the cadre they belong to. He brought in other changes like cubicle decors, relaxation in dress code and
disbanding of the office police . This was only the beginning.
It was a big challenge for Ullman to change a century old culture. The reasons why Ullman thought of
culture change were:
 Office police were appointed who enforced the guidelines and decorum for the associates.
 As outsiders had the information about culture in JCP, youngsters were not inclined to join the

The Music Of Music Videos
The development of music videos throughout many years has changed rapidly due to the relationship
between media forms and platforms of different media kind of texts. Some issues in contemporary
music videos are from the evolution of new technologies, social media and politics. Thus, artists
throughout time have taken advantage of music videos in order to use it as a site for debates about
politics of representation. Nowadays the majority of music videos are transforming and turning into
short films and art in order for the artists to express themselves through this function. A music video
that illustrates these media contexts is Justin Timberlake s song What Goes Around . This essay will
firstly describe this music video and how it has broadened the definition of the term music video, and
then examine how this is relevant to media contexts. Therefore, with new technologies arising in
music videos it tends to contribute to changes in ideas of musicianship and performance.
On February 7th 2007, the artists Justin Timberlake released his music video to his song What Goes
Around which turned out to be a short film as it was nine minutes and twenty two seconds long. It was
directed by Samuel Bayer and starred the actress Scarlett Johansson. It features acting, dialogue and of

Age And The Importance Of Voting In The United States
Although all Americans have the right over the age of 18, not all citizens vote because of four
common, yet relevant reasons. One s educational level, age, level of income, and prestige of
occupation determine if they will vote or not. First and for most, the education one has is the single
most important factor in predicting whether they vote. Although mostly, all American citizens know
they have the right to vote, they do not know how to get registered or where to vote. That does seem
like a poor excuse, considering we live in a technology based society and pretty much anything can be
looked up online. Despite the fact that some citizens truly do not understand the importance of voting,
some choose to not understand it. Secondly, age

Describe and Analyse a Subculture with Which You Are Familiar
Describe and analyse a subculture with which you are familiar.
The definition of a subculture is a culture within a culture where a group develops distinctive norms
and values that are different from those of the mainstream culture.
The subculture that I will be writing about is called the Fan Base which is also know as the Fandom.
A fan base or fandom is a group of regular supporters and enthusiasts that spend a rather large amount
of time and energy focussing on a team, musician or musical group, entertainer or any other celebrity;
these different people/groups can be classed as sort of a leader or main person that holds the group
together.
Fan bases do not majorly differ from mainstream cultures when it comes to values ... Show more

Also, for many fan bases there are expectations for each fan to have some form of social networking
account so then they can communicate with other fans. Websites such as Twitter, Facebook and
Tumblr would be the main examples of ways to communicate between fans. For music based
fandoms, there is the expectation of having to be at concerts, signings, radio tours and any other
events that the musician/band they follow attend.
For fan bases there is not necessarily a method for learning the groups rules or norms as you become
part of a fan base by simply having something common with another fan, so liking the same band or
television show, having the same dedication toward a team or band and so on. This means that you are
automatically accepted as part of the group, however a lot of fans get agitated when fans that are part
of their fandom decide to move fandoms as they see it as a sort of betrayal to their leader , this can
lead to unruly behaviour and many arguments within the fan base itself.
This kind of subculture emerged originally in the 1960s when pop music first arrived on the scene. It
was during a time when teenagers wanted to rebel against the system or just wanted be different to
everyone else and this kind of music allowed them to do so. The first fan bases came about because of
groups like The Rolling Stones and the Beatles, these particular groups especially had an impact on
mainstream culture as many teenagers spent a

feet, four inches of head space in the finished basement. The finished foundation should be
waterproofed from the footing to the finish grade line. The foundation is poured, sleeves are installed
in the forms before pouring for such things as the water supply and the sewage outlet, the pipe is
placed through the hole and the space between the pipe and the wall is patched. This is the easiest
method used to get a tight, waterproof fit. .
7.) Rough In Plumbing: (2 4 days) Once the foundation is in and backfilled and tamped and possibly
soil treated, the plumber needs to install the sewer line and water pipes that will be under the concrete.
8.) Flatwork for Basement Floors or Garages: (3 days) The top of the slab should be at least eight
inches above the finish grade. There will be a base for the slab, gravel or crushed stone to form a layer
four to six inches in depth. If poly goes down it is just prior to pouring the concrete. Sometimes it is
recommended and expansion joints of fiber board are installed around the perimeter Garages are
subject to extreme temperature changes and concrete expands and contracts with those changes. The

Servant Leadership In Health Care
Servant leadership is a fundamental skill that is of great importance in today s health care system.
Servant leadership allows healthcare workers to effectively conquer challenges and promote teamwork
during stressful situations. Servant leadership requires an individual to have authority with the people
they are leading. It is a complex task to gain authority among people; I believe that an effective and
important way to obtain authority is to show love to others. The book, The Servant by James C.
Hunter describes love not as a feeling, but rather as a behavior or action towards people. As a leader,
one might have good intentions, but without following up with the intended action, the leader loses
authority. The act of love requires having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Servant (1998) examines this by suggesting that people have a need to be shown they are
important. In order for a leader to build authority, they must respect others and acknowledge their
value as part of the team. According to Robert Greenleaf (as cited in Ramer, 2008, p. 256), a servant
leader must be a servant to others by meeting their needs first in order to become a servant leader. I
believe respecting others, actively listening to others and acknowledging the importance of those
individuals; which are all aspects of respect accomplish this. Appreciative The book The Servant
(1998) suggests that people have a legitimate need to feel appreciated. It is an underlying requirement
that must be met and once someone feels acknowledged, they are given a sense of empowerment. A
leader gains authority by providing these individuals with a sense of empowerment. I believe a servant
leader should acknowledge the work of those being led, through rewards or praise; which I believe
increases individual moral. In order for a leader to be able to appreciate and acknowledge others they
must possess some aspect of humility.

The Integration Of Robotics And Artificial Intelligence
The industrial revolution period through the recent technological revolution brought immeasurable
changes in how society approaches tasks and jobs. The transformations brought by automation and
technology integration in the workplace elicits different views and exaggeration on the future of
human labor. The job market is getting more concerned about the future that on a greater extent
depends on the creative and innovative minds of the vibrant technology experts (Kelly). Most of
current manual jobs, especially in the assembly category get a massive replacement of machinery like
robots that receive continuous upgrading to improve flexibility and ease of task handling. The critical
element of thinking demonstrated by humans gets adopted in robotics and automation by the
developments intensified in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The fear of robots taking over human
tasks should get dismissed because the adoption of new technology elevates innovation levels that
create alternative jobs in various sectors of the economy hence employment (Kelly). The integration
of robotics and artificial intelligence in the human tasks benefits society to a great extent by
simplifying tasks, handling previously dirty tasks, and creating new jobs. The use of robots will
initially displace human labor, but at the expense of a simplistic solution to task handling. The
assembly line workers will be partially replaced by robots if they lack the basic training required to

Brechtian Alienation in Theater Performance Essay
Brechtian Alienation in Community Performance
Eugen Berthold Friedrich Brecht, (b.1898 d.1956), known commonly as Bertolt Brecht, was a German
poet and playwright. One of his major contributions to theatre history was the alienation effect (From
the German, Verfremdungseffekt ). Brechtian alienation requires the removal of the fourth wall. This
is a term that describes the suspension of disbelief by the audience that takes place during a
performance. It is often thought that the audience looks in on the play s action through an invisible
wall, just as the audience during a performance is focused upon a procenium stage. This is a literal and
figurative term. The audience pretends that the characters in the story are actually alive, ... Show more

The performers know that what they have to say is rehearsed and is for the benefit of the audience.
The political message is of great importance. However, the entire event has an air of surrealism.
A second example of community performance that utilizes the effect of Brechtian Alienation is the
work of the late monologist, Spaulding Gray. Spaulding Gray (1941 2004) was the author and
performer of monologues such as Swimming to Cambodia (1987) and Monster in a Box. (1992)
During his performances, Spaulding sat serenely behind a desk, sipping water as he related stories of
his life, satirized for the benefit of an audience. No subject was taboo. He spoke candidly about
puberty, sex and suicide. His monologues contained many messages, some quite political. Although he
portrayed himself as a character, disassociating himself from many of the painful memories he shared
(such as dealing with the suicide of his mother and his subsequent depression), the audience was
always keenly aware that his work was a reflection of his experience, not a factual reporting of the
experience itself. His words made audiences introspective, leading them to mull over issues of social
justice. His final performance was his own suicide in 2004, pointedly highlighting the issues facing
the mentally ill.
The next example is not motivated by any political agenda. Renaissance

Introduction
Motivation is the willingness to exert high levels of effort towards a goal, provided the effort made
also satisfied some individual need. (Keenan K., 1995, e.g. 60)
Everyone at least once asked themselves: What I am doing now? , Where will it bring me? , How can
it help me to reach my target? . These questions have always accompanied me and help to understand
what I want and what is my goal. We have a motivation from the childhood, for example, to get sweets
or toys: every child love candies, chocolates, toys, and parents motivate us by saying: Study hard, get

Analysis Of Being A Half Breed By Leslie Marmon
Leslie Marmon Silko s novel, Ceremony, reveals how the crossing of cultures was feared, ridiculed,
and shunned in various Native American tribes. The fear of change is a common and overwhelming
fear everyone faces at some point in their life. The fear of the unknown, the fear of letting go, and the
fear of forgetting all play a part in why people struggle with change. In Ceremony the crossing of
cultures creates half breeds, usually bringing disgrace to their family s name. In Jodi Lundgren s

These derogatory terms were used against Tayo and Night Swan as they differed from the Laguna
people. Tayo and Night Swan are rejected by the white and Native populations, and it is determined
they are tainted or dirty compared to those ridiculing others. Night Swan says, they think that if their
children have the same color of skin, the same color of eyes, that nothing is changing, which is why
Auntie excludes Tayo from the family because of Tayo s mother s mistake to interact with white men
(Silko 92). We see a change in this perspective in today s society as we have interracial families,
where race plays little to no part in determining a couple s love for one another. However, we do still
have families which believe their children should marry within the same race due to the fear of change
within their own family.
Night Swan is initially an outcast because she is a half breed but her frivolous behavior pushes her
even further as a disgrace to women. Night Swan discusses the real reason her and Tayo are outcasts,
they are afraid, Tayo. They feel something happening, they can see something happening around them,

fear the concept of change occurring around them. Night Swan

  • 3. Examples Of Figurative Language In Night By Elie Wiesel Figurative language can be used to develop different themes within writing. Elie Wiesel uses figurative language to show his theme of hopelessness in his memoir, Night. For instance, he writes, They passed me by, one after the other, my teachers, my friends. ... Some of whom I had once feared, some of whom I had found ridiculous, (Wiesel 17). This repetition definitely shows the feeling of hopelessness that he must have had during this time. Reading this, I feel bleak. Bleakness being very close to helplessness. The repetition puts this feeling on you, and this makes it a very effective piece of figurative language. Reading further along I see another literary device. They passed me by, like beaten dogs, (Wiesel 17). This simile is an even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ally s Welcome Home-Personal Narrative Welcome Home It has been fifteen year since the killing of Ally s father. Now her brother, Matthew, was leaving her to stage four lung cancer. Ally was a twenty eight year old lady, and her skin tone was white. She had blue eyes and blond hair. Matthew, her brother, was Ally s protector, he was her savior, and now Ally felt all alone in this dangerous world. She knew that she could not continue their business by herself. On the day of her brother s funeral, Ally was so determined to go. She was all dressed in black, and she had her hair nicely pinned up. But right as she was about to leave, she stopped in the doorway of her front entrance. She panicked at the sight of daylight and fresh air, discouraging her to proceed on going to Matthew s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I m going to finish Ally off for good. Dion whispered to Josh, She killed our brother and she must pay. So go while you still have the chance. Dion was committing suicide and they both knew it, yet Josh still obeyed his brother s orders and kept going while Dion searched the house for Ally once again. Ally darling come out come out wherever you are. Dion chanted. Out of nowhere Ally came out of the closet and attacked Dion. Then *BANG* the gun had went off. Josh stopped dead in his tracks, but by this time Josh had already made his way out of the house and was about to leave the front yard. Josh hoped for Dion to come out of the house, what now seemed so dark, but Dion never did. Ally was the one who showed up and stood in the doorway, knowing she could not still leave the house. Later that evening, Ally was arrested and put was into a mental facility. Just like Ally inherited her father s psychoticness, it was then passed down to Josh. Four years after the incident, Josh came back to Ally, he helped her escape the facility, and together Ally and Josh continue the business her and her brother had. Welcome home sweetie. • 6. Latin American Culture And Globalization Economy: An expanding international commitment to free trade among countries has internationalized the market for goods; people have access to goods that were previously out of reach. Finally, in addition to the exchange of goods across borders, traders move billions of dollars daily with the click of a mouse. Some countries have been helped by the newly emerging economic order because they have the resources to expand production worldwide and to create goods that are in demand internationally. On the other hand, some countries and individuals have been hurt because they are not able to compete with the strongest producers internationally. The United States is one of the world s leading exporters and maintains a lead in many of the future s most promising industries, including biotechnology, space technology, and computer software. U.S. corporations have sought a competitive edge by taking advantage of cheap labor in Latin America and Asia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In one sense, globalization has produced strong pressures for harmonization of values around the world, in particular, a value in universal human rights. In another important sense, globalization has resulted in the emergence, interaction, and competition of many different value systems on the global stage. While there have always been debate and discussion within cultures about values, globalization has brought these debates to a global scale. Sometimes the interaction of differing value systems has been a source of positive change and growth. The globalization of culture and values has brought Western conceptions of democracy and liberty to many areas of the world in the last twenty five years. In many cases, the internet and popular culture have helped to spread those ideas. Many people resent the Americanization of the world and feel that the forces of globalization threaten their ... However, at the meeting, the board simply felt that it wasn t an emergency and turned down the item. Unfortunately we have some stuff going on, where in one building we have three units broken and in one of those classrooms it s extremely hot, and our nurses unit is cooled by that unit, and that s hot. Then there s another unit working fairly well, so if we leave the doors open to the other classrooms, the one that is working fairly well, that room can stay cool, and the room next door can stay about mid 80s. Consequently, with the bid not approved, Bush also shared, Now we have to work on finding classroom space and moving students out of there...We have to move one class out quickly, and the nurse as soon as we find a space, because it s just too hot to work in there. With about 10 kids from the Youth Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30 4:15, I plan to have a t ball clinic. I plan to use the field at the Bow Youth Center as a location for my clinic, in which there will be 3 different stations hitting, throwing, and fielding. The results which were shown in figure 1 for the CMAPs where the amplitude of the CMAPs increased as the perceived tension increased were to be expected. Because in order for a greater force to be applied there must be increased force of contraction, which the amplitude demonstrates, through electrical activation intensity. Body Modification And Human Physical Appearance From culture to culture, body modification can be viewed as a true positive expression of one s identity or viewed as forbidden and the person is shunned from society forever. In corporate America, it is considered taboo and will not earn respect or a job. In rural America, you are perceived as unclean and destroying the perfect body God gave you. But, in urban America on the streets of Brooklyn, the person is unique and exciting. These people could show their similarity through the use of similar scarification patterns, similar ear stretching methods, and similar neck stretching technics. This modification also showcases the expressions of the wearer. The wearer could have scars to show age and importance or scars to show marital status and wealth. Tribal people, such as PaDaung women of Thailand, use different forms of modification to flaunt their wealth and marital status in the act of stretching their neck with brass rings. The origins of this tradition is said to be due to rendering the women incapable of farming or heavy labor (Jefkin Elnekave) which in turn protects the women from being kidnapped by slave traders which is very common in this part of Asia. So, in essence this form of modification actually protects these women. This implies that modification as a whole is used in most cultures as a form of invisibility. People in these cultures ultimately, assume the characteristics associated the modification and strive to live up to the ideals the modification stands for. Furthermore, the Bume of Ethiopia use body scarification as a form of personal achievement earned after a hunt or kill. These scares are given in a complex ritual. This modification is a rite of passage into adulthood for many African tribes. The scarring emulates the manliness of the wearer. The theory was developed by Sigmund Freud who was a psychologist. The use of the psychodynamic approach within health and social care helps individuals understand and support patients who are undergoing the psychodynamic process as it is generally used around the world. This essay aims to show my understanding of the approach and the ways health and social care workers could apply the theory to a health and social care setting. It judges people, criticizes them, and makes them feel guilty when they do something incorrect. It is what makes people feel guilty and ashamed, it is their inner judge. It is the part of personality which holds all of individual s ideals that are required from parents and society (individual s sense of right and wrong). The Super Ego provides guidance in creating judgments. Freud had stated that the Super Ego starts to appear at age five. There are two parts of the Super Ego: * The Ego Ideal this involves the rules and standards for good behaviour. These behaviours consist of those which are permitted by parental and other authority figures. Following these rules leads to feelings of pride, value and achievement * The Conscience consists of details about things that are thought of being bad by parents and society. These sorts of behaviours are regularly not allowed and lead to bad consequences, punishments or feelings of guilt and remorse. The Superego s purpose is to act and improve the behaviours of individuals. It operates to suppress all inappropriate urges which comes from the id and struggles to make the ego act upon the idealistic standards rather than upon realistic principles. • 12. Bend It Like Beckham Character Analysis Through the use of cinematic techniques, Hidden figures, a movie directed by Theodore Melfi and Bend it like Beckham by Gurinder Chadha both explore the dangers that are inherent in a marginalised society. Each text demonstrates that hope for change is needed in society as it can build the momentum for an individual to strive. Through these texts, we see that people have no conscience about harming others until they learn the truth about their circumstances. This is depicted by the way in which Jess coach Joe behaves after learning about her cultural expectations in Bend it like Beckham. Similarly, this is shown in Hidden Figures by Mr. Harrison. Both directors emphasise that the abuse of power leads to corruption and this can be seen through the segregation between the black and white people in Hidden Figures and the way in which cultural values overrule the lives of the Bhamra s in Bend it like Beckham. Both characters highlight the importance of creating opportunities rather than seeking it, this is shown when Mary Jackson goes to court for educational rights in Hidden Figures and in Bend it like Beckham when Jess stands up to her father who appears to be patriotic about his cultural values. To many, this is portrayed as the first known instance of suggesting space and time to be joined together as one thing. Albert Einstein s 1905 theory of special relativity is the very beginning of a theory related concept of spacetime, but the first mathematical theory of spacetime actually created by one of his own early teachers named Hermann Minkowski. He created the concept of Minkowski Space which is the earliest recommendation to the treatment of space and time as two separate entities of one unified whole. The idea of Minkowski space has led up to special relativity being viewed more so in a geometrical way rather than a scientific and mathematical way. Minkowski space is described as the mathematical formation for which special relativity can be conveniently formulated. In this setting the three dimensions of space are combined with one dimension of time to create a four dimensional whole expressed together as spacetime. It would be considered extremely important to consider the events that space and time can ultimately affect each other and how space and time are used in cosmological research. However, before touching base with the concept of space time, it seems appropriate to tie together the two basic types of dimensions and how they are ultimately applied to each other. The United States Geological Survey concluded the agriculture was the main source of nitrate pollution in both ground and surface water as there is at least 6.6 million acres of irrigated crop land in the Valley and each acre creates about 80 pounds of nitrogen every year. Nitrogen is commonly found in pesticides and fertilizer and it seeps into the ground as nitrates. For fan bases there is not necessarily a method for learning the groups rules or norms as you become part of a fan base by simply having something common with another fan, so liking the same band or television show, having the same dedication toward a team or band and so on. This means that you are automatically accepted as part of the group, however a lot of fans get agitated when fans that are part of their fandom decide to move fandoms as they see it as a sort of betrayal to their leader , this can lead to unruly behaviour and many arguments within the fan base itself. It is an underlying requirement that must be met and once someone feels acknowledged, they are given a sense of empowerment. A leader gains authority by providing these individuals with a sense of empowerment. I believe a servant leader should acknowledge the work of those being led, through rewards or praise; which I believe increases individual moral. In order for a leader to be able to appreciate and acknowledge others they must possess some aspect of humility. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Budweiser Clydesdale s Commercial Analysis Brotherhood Budweiser Clydesdales commercials are always one of the most recognized commercials during a super Bowl. They have been aired every year starting on Super Bowl XX in 1986, because of this, many consider Budweiser ads as part of Super Bowl tradition. From the many, I chose the one aired on Super Bowl XLVII (2013), titled Brotherhood . Not only was this one of the top Budweiser commercial but it broke record over other commercials as one of the most shared Super Bowl Ad. • 35. The Integration Of Robotics And Artificial Intelligence The industrial revolution period through the recent technological revolution brought immeasurable changes in how society approaches tasks and jobs. The transformations brought by automation and technology integration in the workplace elicits different views and exaggeration on the future of human labor. The job market is getting more concerned about the future that on a greater extent depends on the creative and innovative minds of the vibrant technology experts (Kelly). Most of current manual jobs, especially in the assembly category get a massive replacement of machinery like robots that receive continuous upgrading to improve flexibility and ease of task handling. The critical element of thinking demonstrated by humans gets adopted in robotics and automation by the developments intensified in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The fear of robots taking over human tasks should get dismissed because the adoption of new technology elevates innovation levels that create alternative jobs in various sectors of the economy hence employment (Kelly). The integration of robotics and artificial intelligence in the human tasks benefits society to a great extent by simplifying tasks, handling previously dirty tasks, and creating new jobs. The use of robots will initially displace human labor, but at the expense of a simplistic solution to task handling. The assembly line workers will be partially replaced by robots if they lack the basic training required to manage and supervise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Brechtian Alienation in Theater Performance Essay Brechtian Alienation in Community Performance Eugen Berthold Friedrich Brecht, (b.1898 d.1956), known commonly as Bertolt Brecht, was a German poet and playwright. One of his major contributions to theatre history was the alienation effect (From the German, Verfremdungseffekt ). Brechtian alienation requires the removal of the fourth wall. This is a term that describes the suspension of disbelief by the audience that takes place during a performance. It is often thought that the audience looks in on the play s action through an invisible wall, just as the audience during a performance is focused upon a procenium stage. This is a literal and figurative term. The audience pretends that the characters in the story are actually alive, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The performers know that what they have to say is rehearsed and is for the benefit of the audience. The political message is of great importance. However, the entire event has an air of surrealism. A second example of community performance that utilizes the effect of Brechtian Alienation is the work of the late monologist, Spaulding Gray. Spaulding Gray (1941 2004) was the author and performer of monologues such as Swimming to Cambodia (1987) and Monster in a Box. (1992) During his performances, Spaulding sat serenely behind a desk, sipping water as he related stories of his life, satirized for the benefit of an audience. No subject was taboo. He spoke candidly about puberty, sex and suicide. His monologues contained many messages, some quite political. Although he portrayed himself as a character, disassociating himself from many of the painful memories he shared (such as dealing with the suicide of his mother and his subsequent depression), the audience was always keenly aware that his work was a reflection of his experience, not a factual reporting of the experience itself. His words made audiences introspective, leading them to mull over issues of social justice. His final performance was his own suicide in 2004, pointedly highlighting the issues facing the mentally ill. The next example is not motivated by any political agenda. Renaissance ... • 37. Advantages Of MANET A MANET (Mobile Ad hoc Network) is a infrastructure less network and connected without wired in the network. It is self determine in any direction and also changes the connections from one system to other system. The MANETs are mobile and is a type of wireless ad hoc network that has routable networking on top of the link layer. It contained peer to peer file sharing, self healing, and self forming the network. In MANET, the files are shared efficiently and avoid congestion in peer to peer network. The p2p is sharing and distributing the digital media using network topology. The p2p file sharing method makes large networks in which nodes share files directly with each other using decentralized server. It can share the files for example audios, images, games, files, videos, graphics, text, and etc. MANET have some advantages that are mobility, cost effective, less time consuming, self configurable, rapid deployable, and more robust than cellular system. In disconnected MANET, p2p file sharing systems is based on two methods flooding based and advertisement based. Lee s body was discovered in Leakin park; three weeks later in a shallow grave. The police arrested and charged Lee s ex boyfriend Adnan Syed with the murder six weeks later. The police alleged Syed because of phone records they obtained also their only witness Jay Wilds. In the murder case of Hae Min Lee, Adnan Syed should not have been convicted. In fact there is no evidence tying him to the crime at all except a few fingerprints and a handprint in Hae Min Lee s car which means that Syed was at some point in her car. This mean nothing because of how often they hung out together while they were dating and afterwards. Even after the break up both Syed and Lee were still good friends (Episode 1). When law enforcement discovered the body they also found two pieces of evidence next to the body, an empty bottle of alcohol and a piece of rope; they didn t test those two for any DNA evidence (Episode 3). Also supposedly there was shovels Wilds and Syed used to dig the grave for Lee but, both shovels were never recovered along with their soiled clothing that they had on that day from the graves dirt. Wilds threw away the evidence away behind West View mall. She dives Jay back to Eastview Mall to the dumpsters back there so that Jay can Retrieve the shovels and wipe the handles clean of fingerprints (Episode 4). The whole ordeal with evidence is almost sketchy seeing how little solid physical evidence the state have against Syed .Proving the state s case was weak there was one person that could disprove that Syed left with Wilds to kill Lee; that person is Asia McLean. Theories Of Motivation Theories Motivation in leadership through Achievement Motivation Theory MM3151 Managerial Leadership Introduction Motivation is the willingness to exert high levels of effort towards a goal, provided the effort made also satisfied some individual need. These questions have always accompanied me and help to understand what I want and what is my goal. It could have been easy to pack up our bags and call it a year early on. However, Big Blue football simply does not give up. Every player wears their jersey with pride and holds their head high. During practice, we improve together and learn from our mistakes. We are not a group of individuals, but a unified team. We cannot rely on one person to carry us on their back, as we all have our individual tasks that need to be accomplished in order to be successful. Analysis Of Being A Half Breed By Leslie Marmon Leslie Marmon Silko s novel, Ceremony, reveals how the crossing of cultures was feared, ridiculed, and shunned in various Native American tribes. These derogatory terms were used against Tayo and Night Swan as they differed from the Laguna people. Tayo and Night Swan are rejected by the white and Native populations, and it is determined they are tainted or dirty compared to those ridiculing others. Night Swan says, they think that if their children have the same color of skin, the same color of eyes, that nothing is changing, which is why Auntie excludes Tayo from the family because of Tayo s mother s mistake to interact with white men (Silko 92). We see a change in this perspective in today s society as we have interracial families, where race plays little to no part in determining a couple s love for one another. However, we do still have families which believe their children should marry within the same race due to the fear of change within their own family. Night Swan is initially an outcast because she is a half breed but her frivolous behavior pushes her even further as a disgrace to women. Night Swan discusses the real reason her and Tayo are outcasts, they are afraid, Tayo. They feel something happening, they can see something happening around them, and it scares them. Night Swan teaches Tayo about miscegenation and how the people do not physically fear them, but rather fear the concept of change occurring around them. Night Swan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
