2. Margina Busby Assistive Technology Analysis
In the Overview of Assistive Technology and Implementation Video by Margina
Busby, she gives a lecture on what assistive technology is and how it can be used in
the classroom. I learned that assistive technology is any item, piece of equipment or
product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or
customized that is used to increase, maintain, or improve capabilities of individuals
with disabilities. Some examples of assisted technology are calculators, pencil grips,
pocket dictionaries, communication systems (with or without voice output), adapted
textbooks, and modified utensils. It is interesting to see all of the different forms of
assistive technologythat can be used in the classroom. I am currently taking a class...

When I was in elementary and middle school I would use pencil grips because I did
a lot of writing. My hand would start to cramp up and hurt and the pencil grip
would help ease the pain. I also used other items such as a pocket dictionary, a
calculator, and wide spaced lined paper. Growing up I used these items in the
classroom and while I was at home. The teacher would require us to use these
items when she was teaching a lesson. It was interesting to learn that the windows
program has an accessibility option. I believe that the computer is one of the best
assistive technologies because there are so many things that you can do on the
computer. There are websites that the students can use as well as programs
designed especially for them. One point that I got out of Ms. Busby s lecture is
that teachers need to use all of their resources. There are so many items and ways to
use those items that teachers can use to help their students excel in the classroom. I
know that this video is rather old, but one question I have for the guest speaker is
what are some assistive technology that teachers are using in the classroom today?
Another question I have for the guest speaker is there a time length on certain
assistive technologies? For example, John should only use the wide line paper for
three weeks or until he has mastered using the

ROLE OF THE GOVERNMENT
The UK government has announced a package of measures aimed at rescuing
banking system that makes 400 billion pound.
100 billion pound will be available in short term loans from bank of England on top
of an existing loan facility.
Banks will have to increases their capital by at least 25 billion pound and borrow
from government.
An additional 25 billion pound in extra capital will be available in exchange of
preference shares.

Since the market began to tumble in 2008, Governments around the world have spent
almost $ 11 trillion bailing out falling banks and trying to repair the financial system
As per the IMF data all the governments of the world has so far spent more than $
10.8 trillion to avoid the ill effects of last years financial crisis. Out of this huge sums
are spent by the rich nations.

Out of this the maximum amount is spent as guarantee given to save the existing
banking system, which was effected by last year s crisis. This crisis was worst than
the great depression of 1929.
US had spent $ 3.6 trillion to bailing out failing banks and repair the financial system.
25.8% of total GDP for bailing out ie 25.8% of the total GDP, which is $ 10,000/ per
person.
UK had spent $ 2.4 trillion as 94.4% of GDP for bailing out failing banks. ie 94.4%
comes around $ 50,000/ per person.
The private financial sectors also have estimated write offs amounting to $ 4tn, of
which two third are losses suffered by big international banks such as Citigroup and
RBS. About half of these losses write offs of securities backed by failed mortgages.

4. Population And Its Effects On The World
In the world there are lots of different organisms. The number of organisms in a
group can be referred to as the organism s population. When the term population is
thrown around, the human race comes to mind. But what is the human
population? Where is it most dense? Is it good or bad? Let us learn. Population is
defined as the number of inhabitants in a particular area. Currently on the face of
the earth there are approximately 7.2 billion people alive at this very moment and
as of 2013, 36 million of these people live in Canada. The top 10 countries by
population are: China with 1.4 billion people, India with 1.3 billion people, the
United Sates with 322 million, Indonesia with 253 million, Brazil with 200
million, Pakistan with 185 million, Nigeria with 178 million, Bangladesh with 158
million, Russia with 142.5 million and Japan with 127 million people. As can be
seen a lot of people live in Asia. To be specific, 61% of the world s population lives
in Asia but why is this the case? There are many reasons as to why there are so
many people in Asia. One reason is Asia s agricultural development. Asian culture
thrived in the past because they mastered growing a high amount of food in small
areas. They grow such copious amounts of rice, and copious amounts of other food
types of food that they can support copious amounts of people. Another reason for
high Asian populations is the lack of cultural social safety net. In many of these
countries, there is not unemployment
5. Education Is A Universal Right
Education is a universal right. Most students find their true passion for learning in
college. Taking courses that interest them and avoiding courses that don t interest
them, college students find themselves in a world that is coming to an end but, it
also leads to a new beginning. This is why it s very important for most students to
get an education from the nation s so called prestigious institutions. In a article
written for Time Magazine, Frank Bruni writes determined to get into one of the
dozen or so most selective institutions of higher learning in America? I m sorry to
break the news, but your odds have never been worse [source]. In his remark, Mr.
Bruni is shedding some light on a evasive problem that many students face as well
as their parents. In a society that values personal achievement as much as we do,
graduating from a top institution is a stepping stone to higher achievements and a
better life. But, very few are fortunate to walk in this path. Between applying to
colleges and getting an acceptance or a rejection, it can be a daunting process. That
is because colleges and universities place a very big emphasis on grades such as the
GPA, the AP scores, the SAT scores, and other things such as recommendations and
extra curriculum activities. However, this emphasis tends to favor students who
come from affluent families or those who have had advantages from the very start. In
order to level the playing field, universities and collegesshould accept
6. Cellular Respiration Steps
Cellular respiration, the great giver of energy to cells, takes place in and around
the mitochondria. It involves a series of 3 steps which starts with a large molecule
and ends in ATP energy. The first step of this process is called glycolysis and this
takes place outside the mitochondria. In this step 2 ATPs are used to phosphorylate
a glucose molecule making Fructose 1, 6 biphosphate, next the new molecule is
broken into 2, 3 carbon molecules, and finally rouge phosphorous are added and
hydrogens are removed through oxidation creating 4 molecules of ATP and 2
NADH+H+. The 3 carbon sugars become pyruvic acid. (There is a gain of 2 ATP in
this step). The second step is the Krebs cycle. In this step the pyruvic acids enters the
mitochondria,
7. Preparation Of Bone Marrow Cell Extract
The aim of this study is to do initial characterization in bone marrow cell extract (BM
soup). Our results demonstrated that 1) BM soup contains many kinds of protein
factors secreted by bone marrow cells, such as growth factors, cytokines; 2) proteins
are the active ingredients responsible for its therapeutic action.
To reduce the irradiation damage of salivary glands, many approaches are being
tested. The best approaches are to spare salivary glands from the high dose co
irradiation as much as possible with either advanced techniques, such as IMRT and
proton [29], or gland transfer[30]. However, still about 40% of patients receiving
IMRT are suffering from hypofunction of salivary gland [31], and gland transfer

In this study, only soluble components of cell lysate from whole bone marrow cells
were used. All types of BM cells were lysed and numerous paracrine factors were
included in BM soup. Our results showed that BM soup protects salivary gland cells
and restores organ function. This indicated that transplanted intact bone marrow cells
might cross talk with local tissue by all or some of these components to exert their
curative effects. These findings are in agreement with studies on myocardial
infarction treatment by Yeghiazarians group [26]. They reported that injection of
bone marrow cell extract resulted in comparable benefit with intact BM cells. In
addition, they also tested the human BM cell extract and fractionated BM cell extract
in mouse model and found that human BM extract was able to improve the cardiac
function without immune rejection[28], but fractionated BM extract showed limited
effects comparing with the whole BM cells[40]. Given all that, BM soup showed
comparable benefit on tissue regeneration with intact cell transplantation, and even
better in terms of immune rejection or tumorigenecity.
To further confirm protein factors are the active ingredients, BM soup was digested
by proteinase K, namely deactivated BM soup, and injected into the mice receiving
irradiation on head and neck area. Proteinase K is commonly used to destroy the
proteins
8. Robert Hooke Research Paper
Robert Hooke discovered some of the world s first microorganisms and should be
the known as the father of cell biology. He made discoveries way before scientists
like Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek had made them, even though he didn t really
understand what he saw, he gave it the name the ВЁcellВЁ. He also wrote one of the
most important scientific books to date as well, Micrographia. He was also a great
physicist and discovered the law of elasticity which gave us a great understanding of
stress and strain on physical objects. Robert Hooke was a man of many trades and
one of them was being a great Cell Biologist. Robert Hooke was born on July 18,
1635, in Freshwater, Isle of Wight. His father was a curch server and his mother was
a non working woman. He was initially a sick child but loved to learn as her grew. He
loved to paint and work with mechanical toys and models as he grew up. At the age

him of actual cells. Other discoveries he made were actually three notable
inventions. He made the balance wheel to make clocks more accurate, the
universal joint to make objects bend in any direction, and lastly the lense
diaphragm to stop to acute the passage of light in lenses. he was a great scientist
and inventor for his time and created stuff we still use today. Today pretty much
every cell biologist uses his discovery! He coined the name ВЁcellВЁ for these things
and gave us the first glimpses of all the science that was yet to come. He also wrote
the book Micrographia one of the most important books in science to date. Every

When people think of French gastronomy wine is an essential component of her
culture. While it remains a one of many licit joys the French indulge in, this gluttony
is an important image and offering to tourist. Although parts of France greatly rely
on the production and manufacturing of wine more than the actual consumption,
they still rather enjoy their wine. Oenology in itself is a very interesting study and
takes the appreciation of the drink to a whole new level. French wine is much like
the French themselves its well dressed, elegant, never overpowering, and well
behaved. Even on the topic of Oenology the variety and quality that France provides
is incredible. Two well known regions, RhГґne and Bordeaux, produce the some
famous wine names such as CГґtes du RhГґne and ChГўteau d Yquem. The CГґtes
du RhГґne is more earthy and tends to be described as rustic while ChГўteau d
Yquem is a sweeter or dry wine, and also holds the record for most expensive wine
bought at 117,000$. Avoiding great detail it s easy to say that the difference starts
in the soil that makes the grapes. In a way the wine can be seen as a model for
modern production and food by promoting quality and variety, in other words, an
optimistic point of view for French food. France is always advancing in food and
wine production therefore it is a fair assumption that they will continue to grow
together.

Introduction Coaching is a very interesting and fun job to be able to do. There are
many things that come with being a coach, good and bad. Getting used to being
around more people and having to teach them plays will be something new to me.
Reasoning behind choosing this career path is because I used to play so I
understand the game and have a strong passion for it. My career goal is to try and
become one of the best coaches there is in the NFL and make others wanna play or

12. The Importance Of Racing Within The Car Industry
The importance of racing within the car industry
So for years now, the car industry has been evolving. While it is getting bigger and
bigger, it is also branching off to many other sub industries. Among those
industries, one of the most popular is the racing one. It has been evolving since it
has started. And to say that it is very popular in this generation would be a huge
understatement. Even while it is an industry of its own (Racing industry), it still has
many different branches. For instance, when we talk about racing, we can have an
endless discussion about how many different kinds there are. On the legal side of
racing, we have organized activities such as NASCAR racing events, but if we want
to talk about illegal racing ways, we can talk about street racing or drag racing on
local streets. This however, will be discussed in the main part of this paper. So
before getting into the meat of this paper which is the driving question ( Why is
racing important in the car industry? ) We need to answer why talking about his is
important to know about. So, why is this topic crucial to know about? Well for
starters, racing has become one of the most popular activates that most teenage boys
and professionals partake in. other than that, racing brings one of the biggest revenues
economically to the table. Now this means better improvements in the car industry as
a whole. While we are talking about improvements to the car industry, we can
certainly talk about how sport and
13. Fair Use Case Summary
The Fair Use Doctrine
Case Summary Libraries have been transitioning to the digitalization of literature for
preservation and distribution purposes. When a group of libraries gave works to
HathiTrust for digital conversion, tension from the owners of the work began to rise.
The Authors Guild, an organization that has been supporting writers and their rights
since 1912, filed a case against HathiTrust to protect intellectual property. Google
formed HathiTrust, an organization that the libraries loaned books to for the purpose
of digital scanning and creating metadata files (Ford, 2011).
Converting books to a digital format allows the libraries to circulate digital copies
without compensating the owner of the copyright. Consequently, ... Show more

The simplified definition of the Fair Use Doctrine is to give the public the right to
make reasonable uses of the copyrighted material, while protecting the interests of the
copyright owners (Samuelson, 1995). The challenge is how the legal system
measures fair use and particularly in this case, transformative use. Judges consider
four factors for measuring fair use. The first is the purpose of character of the use.
Second is the nature of the copyrighted work. The third is the amount and
substantiality of the portion taken. Finally, the fourth is the effect of the use upon the
potential market (Stanford, 2015). When HathiTrust a Google company, began
digitalizing thousands of books from the public library s and creating metadata, the
copyrighted materials were being duplicated by a for profit company.
Although the company who owns HathiTrust is a for profit company, their intended
use and transformation of the material was not with the intent of profit. Yet one
might have a hard time believing Google would fund such an endeavor if they did
not see an opportunity to make money off the digitalization of the works. From a
legal standpoint, a challenge is how the judges measure the portion taken and the
effect of the use upon the potential market, particularly when this is the first time of
mass digitalization. The Actors Guild lost the case because the courts believed the
transformative factor of digitalizing the library books gave the public new
14. Aldo Leopold Research Paper
Aldo Leopold
Aldo Leopold was born on January 11, 1887 in Burlington, Iowa to German
immigrant Carl Leopold and Clara Starker. His full name is Rand Aldo Leopold
and was named after two of his father s business partners and later came to be
known only by his middle name Aldo. He had 3 brothers sisters: Mary Luize, Carl
Starker and Frederic. He was raised spending much of his time outdoors where he
learned to appreciate nature. As a young boy he loved to hunt, hike and fish with his
father and spent a lot of time cataloging birds. Every summer his family took a
vacation to Michigan, in the heavily wooded area of Lake Huron coastline. There
he and his siblings would explore a group of islands and became drawn to all the
wonders of nature.

15. Race And Social Race
Race, to many people is one thing and one thing only; the color of one s skin. But
race is more than just the color of one s skin, but it s their biological makeup and
social makeup. Biological race is the skin color we are born with along with the other
genetic traits that come with certain ethnic backgrounds. Social race, however, is how
society depicts your skin color and biological traits, and decides from there what
social class you may be placed in, how you ll be treated, and how you ll live your
life, socially. All people are biologically born the same race as their parents, or a
mix, if the parents are different. But what determines the social race? Social race
can be explained using the blacks in Southern America during the times of
segregation. Blacks were forced to eat, drink, and sit in different places just
because of their skin color. During this time blacks were seen as scum of the Earth,
dirty, and vile, just because of their skin color. Many people thought that blacks
carried diseases and lacked intelligence in early America. Later you had pictures
and drawings of human skulls and black skulls that were always seen as less
desirable and less beautiful, just because their skulls tended to be more oval in shape
and not round like the whites. Though there can be strictly biological racismand
strictly social racism, they both go hand in hand in many cases. Ota Benga, from
Congo, was captured for his looks and abnormalities. He was black, stood four feet

The timeless story, A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway, has a
descriptive setting and plausible characters. In this story, the reader can also
ground herself and feel that she is truly a part of what is occurring. If the story
were to lose its believability, its connection with the reader would be severed. This
story allows the reader to grasp the main concepts that Hemingway is trying to
convey, while also leaving her to expand upon it in great detail through her own
experiences, imagination, and research. The setting used in A Clean, Well Lighted
Place adds clarity to every aspect of the story. There is a strong, seamless connection
between the story s main ideas and its setting. The setting delivers a contrast that is
essential for the story. Each character resembles the development of man s morality
as they are each placed in varying degrees of shadow throughout the story. With a
realistic setting tying into the story, the reader can effortlessly place herself into the
story and find something that relates to her through the experiences of the characters.
Ultimately, if the setting were to be unclear or seem unrealistic, then this story loses
its power over the reader. The reader should be able to connect with the story, A

INTRODUCTION
The definition of special education in the encyclopaedia of children s health declares:
Special education refers to a range of educational and social services provided by the
public school system and other educational institutions to individuals with disabilities
who are between three and 21 years of age. Special education is designed to ensure
that students with disabilities are provided with an environment that allows them to
be educated effectively. Disabilities that qualify for special education include physical
disabilities, such as deafness or blindness; mental disabilities, such as Down s
syndrome and autism ; medical conditions, such as oxygen dependence or traumatic
brain injury; learning deficits, such as dyslexia ; and behavioural disorders, such as
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and conduct disorders.

18. Fiction Analysis Essay
Fiction Analysis There are many ways to supplement a story in order to add
lucidity. It is done through literary devices and Tim O Brien s The Things They
Carried is no different. The Things They Carried is a narrative about a soldier at
war in Vietnam. However, this story provides multiple layers of meaning through O
Brien s tone and style that help the reader further understand it. Both of these literary
devices are embedded in the story and gradually help define it. To begin with, O
Brien writes this short storyin a very serious tone. There is no joking with him, unless
in dialogue. For instance, O Brien demonstrates this serious tone when he writes After
the chopper took... They burned everything (440). This tone then helps... Show more

The excessive mentioning of weights pulls the reader down. He or she experiences
the burden O Brien is writing about and can therefore further understand the stress
each soldier is under. He also writes about what personal items each soldier carries,
such as Rat Kiley s (433) comic books and Lt. Cross s letter from Martha (434). In
doing so the reader can grasp the humanity of each soldier and enable the reader to
engage in the characters on a more personal level, making the possibility of losing
one of the soldiers all the more grim. Additionally, O Brien s tone and style together
create an ominous environment. The serious tone combines with his style on page
434 to convey a message that almost threatens the reader. The combined weight of
the things each soldier carries takes its toll on the reader. Already feeling pulled
down, O Brien adds statements such as the land was mined and booby trapped and
you could die so quickly. The ominous environment is further described with the
nights were cold... the monsoons were wet. O Brien then proceeds to mention how
the plastic poncho meant to help the men is also what is used to carry Ted Lavender
after being shot. As these elements combine with one another, the reader is immersed
in the hostile environment that was

20. Taking a Look at Filibusters
Filibusters are quite the conundrum, a pariah of sorts in the realm of U.S. politics,
yet an integral part of our body of government. It is imperative that it remains to be
kept alive in a warm embrace with the Senate, lest it is reduced to nothing more
than a mere accessory to the House of Representatives. By nature, the filibuster is
actually a resourceful tactic that utilizes the ideology of free speech to prolong and
create an active dialog over legislation or to prevent a measure from being brought
to a vote. However, in recent years the most unsettling adversity contemporary
legislation faces is Rule XXII of the U.S. Senate. Forty one senators can veto the lion
s share of legislation by refusal of invoking cloture(sixty being the magic number).
Due to the malapportionment of the Senate, less than forty one percent of the
population could be over represented, resulting in a conflicting vote against cloture
sustaining debate indefinitely. The idea of a three fifths vote is being required for
most Senate action can be seen as a modern day thunderstorm that overcasts
democratic self government. The tradition of limitless debate in the Senate needs a
bit of a review (perhaps a judicial one), as a refusal to vote for cloture should result
in a suspension rather than an absolute veto. Simply put, forty one senators should
have the ability to place an extended debate on bills or nominations for a period not
to exceed a year beginning from the time they reach the floor.

Is your hair dry and damaged and you just don t know what to do with it? With salon
treatments and overpriced products, you may have just given up on your hair.
Maintaining and repairing your hair starts from your daily routine. Formulating
treatments in the comfort of your own home without making a dent in your wallet is
the next step. Get ready for shiny, healthy, and frizz free hair!
Causes of Damaged Hair
The most common type of damaged hair is caused by chemicals. Harsh chemicals,
perms, color treatments, and bleach are big contributors to your damaged hair.
These chemicals strip your hair of their natural moisture and protein, leaving your
hair weak and brittle. With excessive usage of these harsh chemicals, your hair may
chip or even shed more rapidly that you would like. While combing your hair is a
true importance, there is such thing as over combing. Excessively combing your hair
can put a strain on your hair, leaving it damaged. Direct heat on your hair definitely
causes split ends and damaged hair. Using heat stimulated styling products can
diminish the proteins that keep your hair luscious. Direct sunlight is usually not the
case for damaged hair if your hair has not been chemically treated. However,

The stage theories often concentrates on the age appropriate development tasks to
be attained at each stage, the stage theories of human development involve the
entire life span, and highlighted the potential of positive changes during very later
years of life (Erikson, 1980). The idea of adulthood possesses legal and socio
cultural meaning, the legal concept of an adult is the individual who has gotten to
the age at which they are viewed as responsible for their own actions, and for that
reason; legally responsible for them (Santrock, 2012). This is known as the age of
majority which is the age of eighteen in many cultures, while there is difference
from sixteen to twenty one years old of age (Erikson, 1980). The socio cultural
concepts of being an adult is based on what the culture normatively sights as being
the required standards for the adulthood which often influence the definitions of the
adulthood of people within that certain culture (Erikson, 1980). This may or may
not correspond with a legal definition. The views on adult development in the late
concentrate on the idea of effective aging, and is described as a low probability of
disease and disease related disability, high cognitive, physical function ability, and
active proposal with life (Erikson, 1980). The biomedical theories that hold one age

25. Epidermal Keeratinocytes Angiogenesis
As the inflammation receds the proliferation phase begins, in this phase of healing,
cellular activity predominates. The major events during this phase are the creation of
a permeability barrier (ie, reepithelialization), the establishment of appropriate blood
supply (ie, angiogenesis), and strengthening of the injured dermal tissue (ie,
fibroplasia). Reepithelialization is the process of restoring an intact epidermis after
cutaneous injury. It generally involves several processes, including the migration of
adjacent epidermal keratinocytes into the wound. Epidermal stem cells from the hair

In response to the injury, microvascular endothelial cells initiate an angiogenic
process consisting of activation of endothelial cells, local degradation of their
basement membrane, sprouting into the wound clot, cell proliferation, tubule
structure formation, reconstruction of the basement membrane, and, eventually,
regression and involution of the newly formed vasculature as tissue remodeling (22).
Newly formed vessels participate in granulation tissue formation and provide
nutrition and oxygen to growing tissues. Various cytokines are released by
endothelial cells and macrophages stimulate the process of angiogenesis. Several
growth factors play important roles in wound angiogenesis, they include vascular
endothelial growth factor, angiopoietins, fibroblast growth factor, and TGF b.
Vascular endothelial growth factor is a potent mitogen for endothelial cells and
induces endothelial cell migration and sprouting by upregulation of several integrin
receptors (23). Recent study showed that laminins are one of the major extracellular
matrix proteins important in wound angiogenesis, they have profound effects on
human skin dermal microvascular endothelial cells( HDMEC) functions, they
promote endothelial cell migration and capillary structure formation
26. The Repressions Of Women In Le Morte DArthur By
Thomas Malory
The impressions of women throughout history influenced the way authors depicted
women in their works. The belief that women are the cause of men s problems dates
back to the bible s first chapter. The chapter lead men to believe the ultimate fall of
humanity was at the hands of a woman. Consequently, this belief has been carried
from generations to generations throughout history. The legend of Morgan Le Fay
changes behaviorally from evil and spiteful in Le Morte D Arthur by Thomas Malory
to kind and nourishing in Avalon from Vita Merlin by Geoffrey of Monmouth

Certain individuals decided to change their beliefs. Some began to see women as
nurturing creatures rather than the bane of all of man s existence. This idea
reflects in the poem by Geoffrey of Monmouth, Avalon from the Vita Merlini .
This poem tells the tale of a beautiful island where nine sisters live. The sisters are
generous and kind to all who visit their home. The poem then shifts focus to
Morgan Le Fay, almost bragging that she may cure sick bodies (Geoffrey of
Monmouth). This differs from the Middle Age text greatly. Even the tone of the
poem is light and airy in contrast to the dark and mysterious tone of the earlier
story. The poem goes on to tell a story of Morgan Le Fay saving someone,
explaining she saved a man that had gone into battle with her own honorable hand
(Geoffrey of Monmouth). This man was her half brother Arthur, and whether the
characters know of their relation is a mystery to the audience. In the poem Morgan
Le Fay saves her brother; in the story she nearly kills him. It is clear the narrator of
the poem admires Morgan Le Fay, as shown by the use of word honorable to
describe her on many occasions. The depiction of the women in this story reflects
how some people felt toward women in the Modern Ages, and once again turning
life into art. Art imitates life in these two works. The societal beliefs of the Middle
Ages were prominently against women having any power, though there are always

Do humans truly have free will or are their lives completely predetermined? This
question of free will has and will always remain to be a place for argument in
philosophy. Many of the great philosophers attempted to answer this question, but
none did as well of a job as Immanuel Kant. He lays the basis of his argument in his
Prolegomena to any Future Metaphysics. Kant writes this prolegomena in response to
David Hume s of skepticism, and therefore, Kant is attempting to more firmly ground
metaphysics. In the introduction Kant says, I openly confess my recollection of
David Hume was the very thing which many years ago first interrupted my dogmatic
slumber and gave my investigations in the field of speculative philosophya quite new

When broken down Kant is appealing to both his thesis and his antithesis; he is
agreeing with both. Kant agrees that humans are beings of nature and therefore
they follow the rules of nature, but he also is accepting his thesis by saying that
they are free. But in the former case reason is the cause of these laws of nature, and
therefore free; in the latter, the effects follow according to mere natural laws of
sensibility (Prolegomena). Instead of rejecting the laws of nature and saying that
humans are free of all ties, he is agreeing that certain things do govern the way in
which humans act. Furthermore, he suggest that Freedom is therefore no hindrance
to natural law in appearances: neither does this law abrogate the freedom of the
practical use of reason, which is connected with things in themselves, as determining
grounds (Prolegomena). Regardless of natural law humans are free and neither one
interferes with the other. His prolegomena is not the only work where Kant
addresses free will. In his work, Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant
suggests that morality is based on the concept of freedom. He states, A rational
being must always regard himself as law giving in a realm of ends that is possibly
only through the freedom of the will, and this holds whether he belongs to the realm
as a member or as sovereign (Groundwork). Therefore mankind must

a range of devices to remind them that they were watching theatre and not real life; it

Brecht
Brechtian theatre and plays use many techniques to create this separation and
differentiation between other styles and epic theatre . For example, song/music is
sometimes make you feel different emotions to the mood of the song. Brechtian
styled plays may use upbeat, lively music, however, the lyrics within that song may
be negative and may be on serious subjects and/or events. This consequently makes
the audience think more about what they are witnessing and the situation of the
character(s) and additionally reminds the audience that what they are watching is
only a representation of life and not full reality. This idea of the separation between
theatre and reality is further emphasised as epic theatre often incorporates freeze
frames/tableaux, which are evidently unnatural and therefore makes the audience
think about the frozen moment; this is again to further stress that it is not real life
despite the realism of the piece or the performance of actors. Brechtian plays also
often performed with the house lights on so the audience remained aware of each

Not only did he help Duke Ellington when troubled harmonically or melodically, but
he made the individuals of the big bands sound their best based on their unique
qualities. He took in mind what each individual in a big band must play. Ellington
as a bandleader would find the best musicians based on their uniqueness, which was
what inspired him to compose songs. Taking this into account, Strayhorn had to
focus on the full orchestra and had to ...write out the individual instrumental parts
for each member...(Hajd). After several magnificent compositions and
arrangements based on Hajd, he expanded by writing an arrangement for Mary
Martin, an actress and singer. Besides the works Strayhorn did in collaboration
with Ellington, his greatest composition without any Ellington associations was
Lush Life. This song was allows the musicians play it with smoothly because
according to Guitarist Mundell Lowe, it is one of the few songs he knows that
requires no improvisation because the line as written cannot be improved (Sales).
Since jazz is a genre that is mostly composed of improvisation, the fact that Lush
Life requires no improvisation depicts not only that it is well composed, but also
that it is a unique with its melodic invention and lyrics. In other words, it is a perfect
piece for any musicians or bands to
42. Reform Movements Dbq
During the 19th century, many reform movements occurred which helped shape
America. The United States was still developing to achieve an ideal nation, in order
to achieve it s goal there were many reforms. Reform movements occurred in many
places, categories, and led by many magnificent figures. Reform movements ranged
from women s rights, education, slavery, and many more. Despite the equality
reforms such as abolition and women s suffrage, the majority of reforms carried out
in the early 19th century focused on a utopian society, instead of democratic ideals.
Therefore, the opinion that all reform movements in America at this time sought to
expand democratic ideals is invalid specific to this time period.
The utopian society was greatly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morse shows that by stating the social problems of the immigrants rather than any

society was the religious reforms. Charles G. Finney states the people must change
their spiritual duties to religion since the people needed to prioritized religion
since it adds to achieving an idealistic society (Document B). Charles G. Finney
was an Presbyterian minister and leader in the Second Great Awakening, religious

religious aspects people should wake up and become good children of God. Finney
s statement was a cry for all people to become religious again, it was intended for all
people especially those who have forgotten than religious values. This shows that
democratic reforms wasn t sought to expand the US, religious reforms held more
importance especially in the preachers and religious ministers. Along with a need of
religious revival, the temperance movement
43. Use Of Allusion And Symbolism In The Samurai s Garden
Love can be twisted, tangled, and tortuous. Gail Tsukiyama analyzes this concept
within her novel, The Samurai s Garden. Amidst the Second Sino Japanese War is a
young Chinese man named Stephen, who travels to the small village of Tarumi in
order to recover from tuberculosis. On his journey, he encounters a young Japanese
woman by the name of Keiko. Soon enough, they become deeply fond of one another.
Torn by their racial differences, Stephen and Keiko must end their once thriving
relationship. In this passage, the author effectively uses allusion and symbolism to
convey the theme that relationships do not always work out smoothly. To begin, the
author uses allusion to associate Stephen and Keiko s unfortunate circumstances to

44. Gatorade Research Paper
In the 2012 NFL season, NFL teams drank 1,800,144 bottles of Thirst Quencher.
Gatorade had been in football since the athletes were doing strenuous exercises, they
continually battled dehydration in the Florida heat (Wickford). Our bodies sweat
system relies on salts to pump water onto our skin to evaporate and cool us off
(Wilcox). But is Gatoradeas healthy as they make it out to be?
Gatorade says that their drink was born in a Lab (Jim F). In early summer of 1965, a
University of Florida assistant coach sat down with a team of university physicians
and asked them to determine why so many of his players were being affected by
heat and heat related illnesses, (Gatorade). They soon discovered two key factors
that were causing Gator players to fall apart: the fluids and electrolytes the players
lost through sweat were not being replaced, and the large amounts of carbohydrates
the players bodies used for energy were not being replenished (Gatorade). The
researchers then took their findings into the lab, and made a new, precisely balanced
carbohydrate electrolyte beverage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sports drink is full of sugar, doing more harm than good. If someone drank
Gatorade when they are not doing anything to make them sweat, it is getting them
fatter. Christie Wilcox explains this is her article, Sports Drinks: More Harm Than
Good?, If your goal is to lose weight, drinking calories is like shooting yourself in
the foot (Wilcox). If someone does not work out at a high intensity for a long time,
they do not need the extra calories. So sports drinks are not for the casual exerciser,
while taking a ten minute treadmill run or jog around the block. However, if
someone is doing strenuous exercises for a long period of time, sports drinks can be
highly beneficial. In fact, the Houston Texans drank 88,224 bottles of Thirst
Quencher throughout the 2012 NFL
45. Essay on Electronic and Communication Privacy Act of 1986
Electronic and Communication Privacy Act of 1986
We are all familiar with the phrase, A little birdie told me. But where did that birdie
get his information? If he was like most Mockingbirds in the sky, his information
was probably obtained through eavesdropping, which is not an ethical approach.
This day and age with technology becoming more and more effective everyday it is
not the birds that we have to worry about. Congress has recognized the way that
technology has changed society and reacted by passing the Electronic
Communication Privacy Act of 1986. There are two main Titles discussed in this act,
Title I Interception of Communications and Related Matters and Title II Stored Wire

Where it preserved your right to listen in to public radio transmissions, it preserves
your right to listen in on pubic computerized transmissions. It allows the provider
of electronic communication service to keep records of who called and when, to
protect themselves from the fraudulent, unlawful or abusive use of such service.
This law has stated that is illegal to intentionally intercept a phone conversation on
a cellular phone and also to disclose any of the information obtained illegally. The
law forbids the manufacturers of radio scanners from creating or marketing any
type of radio that will interfere or invade the same frequencies that are used for
cellular phones. Title I is very self explanatory, it deals with the more obvious
privacy laws. Title II Stored Wire and Electronic Communications and Transactional
Records Access, is more complex than the above title. This section has caused the
biggest concern among bulletin board system operators and users. For those who do
not understand what a bulletin board is, it is places on the Internet where messages,
or pretty much anything can be posted. Unfortunately, while a lot of well intentioned
people know that a law had been passed, most of them started discussing it without
talking the trouble to read it first. As a result, there has been a lot of misinformation
46. Faustus Essay
Out of ancient myth of the magician who sells his soul to the Devil for occult
powers, Marlowe has fashioned a veritable fable of Renaissance man (Source 5 113).
The goal of any true renaissance man is to improve himself. This goal may border
on heresy, as it leads to a man trying to occupy the same position as God. Lucifer
commits this same basic sin to cause his own fall. To Doctor Faustus, this idea of
sin is of no concern at the beginning of Christopher Marlowe s Doctor Faustus.
Faustus goal is to become god like himself. In order to accomplish this, he learns of
science and shows an interest in magic. He turns to the pleasures of magic and art and

That s hard. /.../If we say that we have no sin / We decieve ourselves, and there s no
truth in us. / Why then belike / We must sin and so consequently die, Ay, we must die
an everlasting death/.../...Divinity, adieu! (Marlowe 15). Having denied God
completely leaves Faustus completely desolated from society, In acceptance of
Mephistophilis, Faustus completely denies society and all that has been handed to
him by science and learning. Marlowe shows that one who rejects his intellectual,
social, and spiritual inheritance experiences pain of personal isolation, anxiety, dread,
and meaninglessness (source 5 150). Finally, Faustus turns to magic as his method to
improve himself infinitely. Faustus decision to become a magician marks the fatal
culmination of his attempt to improve himself infinitely. At this point, Faustus notes,
A sound magician is a mighty god / Here, Faustus, try thy brains to gain a deity
(Marlowe 15). This marks the crossover from attempting to improve himself as a
mortal and attempting to become immortal. He believes that magic is his only
feasable option to become immortal. He dismisses divinity because it seems to invite
a hateful determinism which denies the real freedom to settle , begin , and be (source

47. Essay on Old Man And The Sea
Old Man and The Sea
quot; The great DiMaggio is himself again! quot;(21), in Ernest Hemingway s novel,
The Old Man and the Sea, which takes place near Havana, Cuba in the Caribbean
Sea, a very old, unlucky, fisherman sets out for the big catch. The great
DiMaggio is seamed throughout the novel to symbolize the old man and his struggle
to catch the big fish, yet also he poses as a role model for Santiago
(the old man).
The old man is using the great DiMaggio for a role model. At a certain point in the
struggle to catch this great fish, the old man begins to cramp up in his left hand, do to
the fish pulling so strenuously on the line.
Where as the great DiMaggio (during this time) is struggling with a bone spurn his
ankle, yet still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When thinking of the great DiMaggio, the old man remembers to give himself more
confidence, and in doing so thinks back to his younger years when he was referred
to as the champion because of an arm wrestling match. This gave the old man more
strength and will to push on and fight the fish until he wins.
Also this image of DiMaggio reminds him he must be very strategical, and do
everything right, despite any cramps in his hand.
There is hard evidence that shows that DiMaggio symbolizes the old man.
Previously Joe DiMaggio had been struggling in his profession of baseball, due to
a bone spur in his heel. The whole team struggled because DiMaggio was the main
hope to the Yankee s team. Now in the case of the old man, who had previously
struggled to catch a fish because of his newly developed unluckiness, struggles in
his life because he has not caught a fish and in turn, has no money to buy the
necessities for life. Well as soon as DiMaggio picked up his game and started to
play at a whole new level, the old man hooked into a great big marlin, and started a
fight that would change his life. Not to mention the fact that DiMaggio played
outstanding even though he suffered from a bone spur in his heel. As did the old man
out struggle and out think the fish even though he suffered from a temporary cramp
in his left hand. All of this shows how
DiMaggio quot;is quot; the old man quot; The great DiMaggio is himself again
quot;(21).

48. Visit Of The Shree Swaminarayan Mandir On Prescott
Avenue
When it comes to the topic of understanding religions other than one s own, most are
educated by what they have learned through their reading, or have been taught by
professors, colleagues, friends and neighbors. Few have the curiosity, courage, and in
my case a course requirement to attend a service of another religion and dialogue
with those practicing that particular religion. I chose to visit the Shree Swaminarayan
Mandir on Prescott Avenue mainly because of my curiosity regarding the diversity of
the practice of Hindusim. I attended two services, one being the celebration of
Diwali, the festival of lights, and the other being an ordinary Sunday ritual. These
experiences have given me a unique understanding of the practice of Hinduism...

We began to take a seat as close to the rear as possible, when Mary Katherine
pointed out that we were clearly on the women s side of the temple. The other two
male students and I realizing our lack observational skill turned around and exited
back through the shoe room, and into the lobby. There I thought it would be best
to stop in and inform the young man in the office (whose name has slipped my
memory) that we were visiting as part of our course. He welcomed us and
explained that today was their celebration of Dewali and that they were expecting
close to 500 people. He came out of the office and brought us down the center isle up
to the shrine. I couldn t hear much of what he was saying, partly due his accent, but
also due to the loud music that was being played by a few worshipers just a few
feet away. The shrine was composed of three figures covered in brightly colored
decorative ornaments and clothing. The figures stood in a large altar that appeared to
be beautifully carved and finished wood that was lined with strips of lights that
flickered colored patterns throughout the service. Below the altar was an assortment
of foods and fruits, which were aesthetically prepared and plated. I took a few
pictures as were many worshipers, the young man then said he had to head to the
back of the temple to grab something and my fellow students and I then headed to
the back of the temple to take a seat. The service was entirely in a language other than
49. Euphemism In Boomerang By Lyfe Jennings
The song I ve chosen to interpret was Boomerang by Lyfe Jennings. The
boomerang effect is an euphemism. As we learned in our discussion that it s a
nicer way to say something to someone without being offensive or, coming off as
harsh. The meaning of boomerang is other way of saying what comes around goes
around. What you do to others, will always comeback to you in the long run. Some
refer to it as karma which is also a euphemism. In the song Lyfe Jennings was
basically saying that he didn t understand how being heartbroken felt until it
happened to him. He didn t realize the pain he caused others until someone made him
fell the same way. He than understood how it felt to be in love with someone who
hurts you the most, he knew the pain he
