The Man behind the Madness
War, bloodshed, and he ruled a country with an iron fist. Who could this man possibly be. No other
than Joseph Stalin. Joseph Stalin was a remarkable leader who was feared and loved by his people of
Russia. Stalin he has gone through many challenging times, during his upbringing, adolescence, and
adulthood. By using the cognitive perspective and the theory of Piaget s four cognitive stages, and
also applying Maslow s hierarchy of needs to Joseph Stalin, it can help us as a community better

say, last warm feelings for all human beings died as well (Rotnem, 2013). History will soon prove
how true that statement was at a later time. Returning back from being exiled, Joseph Stalin became
one of the more significant people when planning in the communist revolution. Vladimir Lenin did
not like Stalin finding him crude and capricious. However Stalin was given an unimportant post,
general secretary. According to Rotnem, (2013), Joseph Stalin used his new powers to appoint loyal
subordinates to positions of power and to undermine his rivals.
Later in Adulthood, political career ... By 1928 Stalin ejected the left deviationists from the party and
had appropriated their ideological plan for heavy industrialization and the collectivization of
agriculture. (Rotnem, 2013) Stalin had implemented the full scale industrialization, along with
agricultural collectivization. Stalin seized assets, including farms and factories, and reorganized the
economy. However, these efforts often led to less efficient production, ensuring that mass starvation
swept the countryside. To mask the disastrous results of the plan,

Introduction
Due to the differences between the countries in its profitable fundamentals; the International Trade
occurs. The contracts between the countries consider as the primary driver of the global exchange.
These contracts concluded on the basis of the countries beneficial elements and advantages. Each
international trade between the countries depends on numerous focal points of this exchange process.
The economics and producers effectiveness measured by absolute advantage for these
economics/producers. For example; if the producer needs lesser amount of contributions/inputs to

The growth rate of the U.S GDP stands at 3.23 percent from 1947 up to 2016(Cuñat amp; Melitz,
2012). In the international trade, the absolute advantage indicates the ability of the economy to
conduct tasks appropriately. The comparative advantage identifies the economy, which produces the
goods with the lowest opportunity cost.
The United States has an absolute advantage over the technological products and services which are
critical. Within the global markets, the U.S has been able to provide tech products and services
appropriately. However, it has comparative advantage of offering tech services while the absolute
advantage exists in technology design and providing industrial capacity. The U.S is a major exporter
in the international markets of products such as civilian aircraft, semiconductors, cars, car accessories,
fuel oil, and organic chemicals among others. Such exports improve the U.S s comparative and
absolute advantage.
China
The economic growth rate of China rate grew by 1.8 percent following the measure of economic
growth which is the GDP growth rate. The GDP growth rate is one of the adequate economic growth
measures. It indicates that the rate expanded 1.8 percent in the second quarter of 2016 increasing from
the previous quarter of 1.2 percent growth. It also surpassed the market projections of 1.6 percent
expansion (Levchenko amp; Zhang, 2016). It was the strongest economic growth

Mask Explanation
Mask Explanation and/or Reflection There are multiple different symbols and hidden meanings on my
mask. These symbols mainly have to do with events from the past and my current state in the present.
When one looks upon the mask, the first thing they may notice is the black line going down the
middle, separating the past from present. Another good distinction between the past and present are
the words written on the both halves of the mask. On the brighter, more positive side, there lie the
words don t look back, as if symbolizing the necessity to move forward in life. The other, more
negative side of the mask has the words look ahead, once again the symbolizing the need to move, and
the need to draw attention away from the bad side ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They eye has a blue and yellow outline, which yield a very pleasing, bright color combination. They
eyebrow is slanted up to portray a happier, more relaxed look. The red plus represents the medical
field, a field I hope to get into as it is my favorite. The orange and blue man right next to the plus sign
represents martial arts, a hobby in which I kept for six to seven years and I still plan on keeping. The
other half of the mouth is pointed upwards, showing satisfaction and happiness with the peace I
managed to attain with myself. On top of the eyebrow, there are two symbols (the soccer ball and the
A+ grade) which represent some of my high school goals. These goals are to obtain good grades and
make the varsity soccer team (just to name a few). To the side of the mask, one may see a shooting
star, which is an allusion to the saying shoot for the stars . My goals are to shoot for the stars, and I
will stop at nothing to achieve them. Finally, below the mouth, there is an attempted drawing of a fist.
The fist symbolizes the will and dedication I have to move on and achieve my goals. The significant
colors I used for the good side of the mask are blue, orange, red, and yellow. They are bright colors
and I was able to make some neat combinations which I used in the mask. The bright colors symbolize
brightness in my life as I beat whatever overcome me in my

Sexist Decline to Racism In Jennifer Morgan s article Some Could Suckle over Their Shoulder : Male
Travelers, Female Bodies, and the Gendering of Racial Ideology, she suggests that sexist beliefs
contributed to the justification of racialized slavery. She proves this by providing accounts of
European explorers describing those they encountered, which at first reveal an admiration for the
strength and beauty they (African women) possessed but later began to associate them with unholy
beasts . These Europeans lacked the ability to understand the independence of women in the
matriarchal tribes having been blinded by biases learned by living in a patriarchal society. Once
Native Americans and Africans were demonized for their lifestyles and deemed savage, they were
more easily viewed as livestock rather than human beings. It became easier to enslave an entire race
when they decided they were superior to those of a darker skin tone. A frequent source in Morgan s
article is from Richard Ligon and his depiction of his personal encounters with other civilizations.
Upon first meeting a black woman Ligon stated she was of the greatest beauty and majesty together:

Barcelona And Real Brid Comparison
Barcelona and Real Madrid have been rivals since the beginning of soccer itself. They have always
clashed and they both have some of the biggest fan bases throughout the world. Although Barcelona

always been similar being two of the biggest soccer clubs in the world. Their managers and how they

Why We Need Early Warning Systems for Tornadoes Imagine sleeping soundly at night when a
sudden roar abruptly startles one from a deep sleep. In a drowsy state, one hears gust of wind, tree
branches snapping, and a strange sucking sound from the adjacent bathroom. In a split second, a
piercing siren begins echoing against the wind, warning all in the town that a tornado has touched
down. However, it s too late. Houses crumble into debris under the fierce twisting winds of the funnel
cloud. Roofs fly off and store signs become missiles as nature s fury does its worst. In the aftermath,
families search for news of neighbors and loved one. The local emergency services works frantically

There is a definite need for improvements in meteorology to predict where and when these super
storms will occur and for development of an accurate alert system to inform citizens to seek cover.
According to Texas A M historian, Dr. Marlene Bradford, Benjamin Franklin realized as early as 1753
...the lack of communications hindered warning regions in a storm s path. (484) Later efforts by
weather expert, John Park Finlay of the Army Signal Corps, to predict tornado formation were met
with skepticism. Finlay wrote a specialized set of rules for tornado predicting, which surprisingly were
95 98% accurate in 1884 (Bradford, 487). However, government officials were afraid that severe
storm prediction could result in widespread public panic, and his research into predicting severe
weather to prevent fatalities was squashed. No other significant research was conducted until the 1930
s. Modern tornado predicting for the past hundred years has been haphazard at best. The National
Weather Service has invested a great sum of money into research, but the results have been sporadic.
Although tornado fatalities have declined by 93% from 1925 data, the tornado warning time still does
not prevent all fatalities (Brotzge and Donner, 1715). Weather patterns change rapidly during a severe
weather outbreak, but meteorologists look for common indicators of tornadic activity. Relying on
Doppler radar and other weather

There was a need for the people to gather like this because Marcos famous implementation of Martial
Law led to the deaths of several thousands of Filipinos. This regulation suspended several of the rights
of the Filipinos and granted Marcos the free use of military power, which he did, against any who
opposed him. The act of civil disobedience, which was basically exemplified through the People
Power Revolution, also brings in with itself, some benefits and detriments. The benefit to this is that
one may get the opportunity he/she is asking for through the resistance formed against the government
like the People Power Revolution. The Filipinos here managed to non violently get what they were
longing for such a time, which was a fair and honest president that soon was elected and was named
Cory Aquino. Now, in the downside of committing civil disobedience, one may find it by relating back
to the revolution that took place in the Philippines. If perhaps Marcos pushed through with an all out
attack against his people, regardless of what the foreign entities would have done about it, millions of
Filipinos would have gotten hurt and died as a result. Even though civil disobedience is an act of
nonviolence, it is still considered as resistance and the people know that Marcos wasn t a fan of any

The Complexity And National Significance Of The D.c
ral circuit court of appeal.
The complexity and national significance of the D.C. Circuit s docket is, at least in part, due to
Congress s various and diverse grants of subject matter jurisdiction. Fraser et al. combed the United
States Code to discover that 150 statutes contain the words D.C. Circuit, and at least 130 of these
statutes are grants of jurisdiction. This latter figure includes at least 43 grants of exclusive jurisdiction
to the D.C. Circuit in eight titles.
Regarding the type of agency action the D.C. Circuit is granted jurisdiction to review, grants of
jurisdiction are equally diverse. Congress has specifically granted the D.C. Circuit jurisdiction to
review two licensing provisions, thirty five provisions of fines or penalties, twenty four rulemaking
provisions, and twenty six other adjudications.
B. The D.C. Circuit s Importance to Administrative Law
Because the federal government s myriad agencies are headquartered in Washington, D.C., the rules of
personal jurisdiction render the D.C. Circuit a forum for many anti fraud suits against government
contractors. For instance, under the False Claims Acct (FCA), a suit may be filed in any United States
judicial district in which at least one of the named defendants to the suit can be found, resides,
transacts business, or has made false claims to the government as proscribed in the FCA. Any
corporate defendant headquartered Washington, D.C. is therefore within the personal jurisdiction of

Indigenous Australian Literature Analysis
The cultural representation of Indigenous Australians within Australia are heavily influences by what
is portrayed in today s Literature. Indigenous Australians get a rather bad wrap in literature, which has
produced negative stereotype towards Indigenous Australians as being primitive, uneducated, drunks,
violent, lazy and lacking complex laws, society organisation and cultural diversity (Kroff, J. 2017).
These stereotypes have derived from historical inaccuracies about Indigenous Australians in literature
and furthermore affected the representation of present day Aboriginals and Torres Straight Islanders in
Australia. Overall many non Indigenous Australians state a positive attitude towards Indigenous
Australians, but still, three out of four Indigenous Australians claim to have experienced racism
(ANTaR, 2012). Therefore, these stereotypes are producing negatives impacts towards Indigenous
Australians and will furthermore have the potential to impact on children, teachers and the teaching
profession.
The portrayal Indigenous Australians within literature can be broken down into three man offender.
Firstly, it had been depicted historically inaccurate images about Indigenous Australian, most
commonly presenting Aboriginals cultural are static and unchanging. The literature surrounding
Aboriginal historical, social and political parameters have taken place within an expansive regime of
the colonial enterprise in order to sustain the foundation myth of settlement

Argument On Miracles Are Impossible
There is another argument against miracles, which has less to do with empirics and more to do with
philosophy, namely the claim that miracles are impossible. No matter what I have accounted for above
and no matter what we experience in life, there is no need to believe in miracles since they cannot
happen, according to this view. It became popular during the so called enlightenment in the 18th
century minority world, and its main proponents were pantheists like Voltaire and deists like Thomas
Jefferson, who used theological arguments for their naturalism. From the pantheistic perspective,
nature is god and so god cannot break natural laws because then he would break his own backbone.
From a deistic perspective, god simply stopped intervening in his creation after he created it, and so
miracles are impossible because god never wants to perform them (Jefferson even took a Bible and cut
out all Jesus miracles with a pair of scissors to prove his point).
Neither pantheism nor deism provide any substantial argument for these claims, but in the 19th
century an atheist philosopher called David Hume, developed an argument against the probability of
miracles that became popular. Hume did not argue that miracles are impossible, since that s as
unprovable as claiming that God doesn t exist, but he thought that they are highly improbable to the
extent that one should never believe a miracle report.
Hume wrote that since common human experience is that dead men remain dead, for

Similarities Between The Minister s Black Veil And Sinners...
There are a few similarities between The Minister s Black Veil and Sinners in the Hand of an Angry
God. Sinners in the Hand of Angry God is written by Jonathan Edwards it is a six hour speech about
how sinners should come to God. The Minister s Black Veil is written by Nathaniel Hawthorne a short
story about how everyone sins and hides behind a black veil. He has changed himself into something
awful, only by hiding his face .
The Minister Black Veil is the most effective story. Although Jonathan Edwards gave a six hour

Movie Analysis of Jaws .
Released in 1975, Jaws was probably one of the best adventure, action, and suspense films of that era.
Directed by Steven Spielberg with the following staring main cast members Roy Scheider as Martin
Bordy (chief police officer), Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper (marine biologist), Robert Shaw as
Quint (local fisherman), Murray Hamilton as Larry Vaughan (town mayor). Jaws the movie, is not like
any other any other fish story. The film is about a gigantic 26 foot shark that has an appetite for
people; how horrifying is that? The unusual story takes place on the seasides of Amity Island. When

His acts of heroism are acted out several times throughout the film. Of course, he also had his boat
captain and a marine biologist along for the wild ride. This plays out to be a team like environment, in
which they contributed their different individual strengths towards the common goal; hunting down
the massive man eating shark.
This film also used countless props; however, there is truly only one that needs to be discussed, and
goes by the name of Jaws. This massive great white shark was a 26 foot mechanical beast. This
enormous steel gutted fish was connected to a crane arm which allowed the shark to tread just
underneath the surface of the water at a rapid rate. This gives the realistic feel of the amount of power
this shark has; being able to swim at such rates of speed. This adds to the fright element of movie
because we all know that big animals can be intimidating. Animals that are big and fast are even
scarier. Animals that are big, fast, and hungry, are a force to be reckoned with.
The film, Jaws, uses a variety of different photographic techniques. Panning was used quite often in
this movie to remind the viewer that they were a long distance from the shoreline. Additionally, plenty
of filming was done underwater. This allowed the audience to get a realistic feel for the surrounding
environment. The brilliant underwater imagery resulted with help from the naturally dark and chilling
emptiness of the foreign ocean world. A notable climatic shot is

Devices Should Be Taught In Schools Essay
Would the teachers of SJNCS rather have their students learn in a creative and fun way or have them
falling asleep in class? The best way and most effective way is having us the students bring our own
devices to school. We can learn and still have fun using our phones, tablets, laptops, and even kindles.
The students of St. John Neumann Catholic School should be able to bring their own devices to
school.
First of all, students can read on their devices. Using ebooks we get so much more options to choose
from ranges of academic and popular books. Having so many options we can read for A.R easily.
Every 4 weeks the students have to get 10 or more points, and sometimes it s hard finding the right
book in the school library. Also most times we can t even go to the library because it s either not open,
we have class, or we have too much to do in study to be able to go. In other words, our devices let us
have more varied book options and an easier access to books. Another way we can use our devices to
read is using our devices to read book assignments that the teachers assign. Recently, we have been
given short stories to read in our textbook, but most times these short stories are actually long. ...

Pay and reward systems exist in the form of pay, bonuses and benefits, financial and non financial and
designed to improve performance, increase motivation, staff retention and increase profitability.
Appreciation and gratitude is widely received as reward and the opportunity for training and
development for career progression. A good culture encompassing strong values, vision, morale s and
beliefs and behaviours expressed by employers and employees of an organisation can be the driver of
the overall performance of a company. A good culture can help support the implementation of changes
and new initiatives and are likely to be supported by those involved. 2 External factors and there
impacts: The economic climate surrounding a company can determine many things and can have
financial implications as well as affecting the levels productivity. Economic growth can lead to a lack
of employees available to fill positions because the labor market is saturated with jobs. A company
will look to offer higher wages, more benefits and incentive programs to entice potential candidates
and will invest in current employees with training and development to help retain the staff and
promote succession planning throughout the company. A downturn in economic growth can have the
opposite effect. Companies have a tendency to cut the workforce to maintain profit margins, thus
applying extra pressure to the remaining employees, causing extra work loads, poor morale and a high

Emotional Appeal Of Virginia Woolf
Throughout Virginia Woolf s speech to the Women s Service League, she does her best to inform the
audience about how women should overcome oppression in the professional world as a necessary
change in society. Woolf s intentions are to build an emotional appeal to put help put the audience in
her place. Through understatement, symbolism, and diction, Woolf develops a well stated opinion in
hopes to enlighten her audience to the issue. Woolf starts her speech off by portraying strong
understatements. In paragraph 1, she starts off by saying, It s true. I am a women; it s true I m
employed . She uses a level of sarcasm when presenting this part to show that although she is a
women, she has excelled well enough to become employed in the professional world. After this, Woolf
states that her literary career was cut many years ago and that it built her career by making her path
smooth and regulating her steps. Although her literary career was a helpful, she tries to play it off as
though it was easy for her; in reality she faced many challenges. Then she goes on to state, because
paper is so cheap, women have been more successful as writers than anything else. This allows Woolf
to imply the financial differences between men and women, without blatantly saying so. Woolf is
making it seem as though this career is easy just because it s the profession she was able to excel in.
She uses understatements for two reasons. First, to create a connection with her audience. In a way
that they see her as a peer, rather than a superior power. Secondly, she uses it to help create a sense of
serenity among women who are too hesitant to start a profession. In sum, Woolf s use of
understatements aids in portraying her argument to her audience. By exploiting strong symbolism to
the consciences of her audience, Woolf informs her audience about The Angel in the House. This is a
poem written in the 19th century about how women were oppressed and how they sacrifice themselves
to impress; this in which is still going on today. The Angel in the House helps symbolizes the
oppression and the low standards set for women. For example, in paragraph 3 the Angel talks about
how women should only show certain traits, such as sympathy and

Animal Farm, 1984 Essay
Animal farm and 1984
Napoleon, the leader of all the animals of the Rebellion, can be compared and contrasted with Big
Brother, the leader of all the people of 1984. Both Big Brother and Napoleon show the qualities of a
cruel ruler. Similar to Big Brother, Napoleon is a secretive plotter who works behind the scenes rather
than openly. However, unlike Napoleon, Big Brother periodically appears on the television screen.
Napoleon and Big Brother both work continually to weaken their rivals, whether it is by removing

How To Invade Iraq
Support To invade Iraq Hindsight makes everyone geniuses. With hindsight, more people would have
bought shares in Microsoft when it first came out. Ditto for Amazon, Facebook, something called
Berkshire Hathaway, and shares in, what was then, a small retailer based in Arkansas Walmart. We do
not have hindsight. We can not guarantee success in everything we do. If the Iraq War only lasted 100
days, we would not have argued about whether there were weapons of mass destruction. It did not, on
both counts. It lasted 3,195 days from March 20, 2003 till December 18, 2011.
If we look back on the events surrounding the war, we can understand how it happened. Surprisingly,
however, when we understood how, it was easier to understand and support the why. In March 2003,
the United States initiated a preemptive war on Iraq. Iraq had nuclear capability termed weapons of
mass destruction . Iraq had previously used chemical weapons on Iran and on its own people. Iraq

Intersectionality In Tony Kushner s Angels In America
Perhaps more than any other disease before or since, syphilis... provoked the kind of widespread moral
panic that AIDS revived when it struck America in the 1980 s (Allen. Searchquote). Angels in
America: Millennium Approaches by Tony Kushner, follows several characters during 1985 1986 in
New York, during the Reagan era. This was a time of an emerging gay culture, the spike in
HIV/AIDS, and the focusing on furthering and improving one s self. Kushner shows the progressing
times and widespread panic and beliefs through his complex characters. Their identities work with and
through each other to grant privileges or create oppressions, this is also known as intersectionality.
However, how does intersectionality shape the opportunities and obstacles of Kushner s characters
Belize, Roy Cohn, and Prior Walter? This essay will explore how each of these characters lead
different lives, despite having one thing in common; they are all gay men, facing the fear of
contracting AIDS, or knowing someone else who does. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compare Eddie Carbone A Tragic Hero
I believe that the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings were.
(Arthur Miller)
To what extent can Eddie Carbone (A View from the Bridge) and Jay Gatsby (The Great Gatsby) be
considered Tragic Heroes? What evidence is there in form, language and structure to support your
view?
In Greek tragedies, a tragic hero is traditionally characterised by several components, a notable one
being that the hero must possess a noble status. This was emphasised by Aristotle in Poetics when he
specified the tragic hero as one of those who stand out in great repute and prosperity. This quality has
been shared among other tragedy writers such as William Shakespeare. However the eighteenth
century saw the beginning of a Bourgeois ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We find out that during Act two, Eddie has revealed to the authorities that Beatrice s are cousins in the
country illegally and is now loathed by both cousins, Marco and Rodolpho. We can also see that
Catherine is no longer dependant on him and his own wife, Beatrice, remains faithful but at the same
time has lost any respect she had for him. Eddie is alone and pitiable; this point is intensified by the
stage direction where we learn that his companions, those who admired him, have gradually deserted
him: Lipari and wife exit ... Eddie calls after Louis and Mike. Eddie is even disgusted by himself as
earlier in the play when he was telling the tale of Vinny Bolanzo, the boy who betrayed his parents, he
condemningly questions How s he gonna show his face? Then comes the hero s demise. Carbone s
death leaves no doubt as to whether Miller has fulfilled this particular criterion of the tragic
hero.Although this is a tragic fall from grace there is still an argument that no ordinary man can have a
fall that can scale up to the fall of a monarch. It is arguable that the degradation of nobility, seen in
traditional tragedies, uncovers Carbone s decline as merely unimportant as he has so much less to lose
than King like Oedipus. Nonetheless, the most important reaction to the fall of a hero is the reaction of
the closest to the subject of defamation. So, although Oedipus may feel shame from the reactions of
the people of his Kingdom, it is the reaction of his family and friends that cause the audience to wince
on behalf of him. Gatsby s physical fall starts near the end of novel however, his spiritual fall arguably
begins before even meeting him. We hear about Gatsby s past and how he was a poor average man but
was honest and as the novel progresses you hear about his relationship with Daisy and how it ended

The Classical Cultures Of China Vs. China
India vs China The classical civilizations of China and India were two of the most important and
extant civilizations with major political development. The advanced technology like the ox drawn
plows, paper, silk roads, etc shaped China s development. India was manifested by artistry, trade, and
exceptional advances in mathematics. There were three main dynasties in classical China known as
the Zhou, Qin, and Han Dynasty while India was founded by three empires: the Mauryan, Kushan,
and Gupta empires. Even though these civilizations evolved around the same time, there are crucial
differences and similarities. Religion, beliefs, hierarchical and patriarchal systems, and government
reveal the distinction between the two civilizations. Confucianism and Daoism were the major belief
systems in classical China that shaped their society. These belief systems were not exactly
religions;they were created to teach individuals how to live life. Confucianism was introduced by
Confucius, also known as Kung Fuzi, around 570 BCE. It focused on reverence for elders, self
humility, and respect for rulers and the people being ruled. During the reign of Wu Ti, he emphasized
values of Confucian philosophy and recorded the Confucian doctrine in a book called The Analects.
The problems Confucius set out to rectify, notably political disorder, were approached through an
emphasis on individual virtuous behavior (World Civilizations The Global Experience). When the Han
Dynasty was first founded, it was heavily influenced by Shi Huangdi, a brutal and strict leader of the
Qin Dynasty who ruled people under many rules and regulations. Confucius wanted to terminate that
method of ruling and knock some sense into people on how to live life without brutality. Instead of
living under hundreds of regulations/laws, Confucius developed a sense of shame that changed the
society as a whole. People began to understand morals and values which formulated peace and
prosperity. As a result, the Mandate of Heaven was passed which stated that the ruler is blessed by
Gods and once the ruler becomes too corrupt, the dynasty would collapse. Contrary to Confucianism,
legalism indicated that only rules and regulations would create order in a

Henry Iv Part 1 Character Analysis
A leader tends to be a person you look up to, a person that you can trust and follow. In the play Henry
IV Part One by William Shakespeare there are many different types of leaders. Each one is different
because of the many different leadership qualities they possess. The story is about Prince Hal the son
of King Henry IV and the battle for the throne. Prince Hal was not well liked by his father because he
hung around in taverns all day with drunks instead of learning the ways of becoming a king. Hotspur,
the most well known warrior gets his family, the Percy s to challenge the king into battle for the throne

During Shakespeare s time a book called The Prince was written by Niccolo Machiavelli. It was a
guide for princes on how to use power while leading. Most of Shakespeare s characters are based on
the Machiveal. In the Machiavel article it says, The essential quality of a ruler was the effective use of
power to guarantee his own survival. Even though it sounds pretty cynical the play shows that it is an
important factor of leadership for Hal. In Shakespeare s mind, A successful leader must have some
basic skills of the Machiavel. Some qualities of a Machiavel are being manipulative, inventive,
charismatic, and willingful. Shakespeare incorporated all of these characteristics into Prince Hal to
make him a great leader. In the article it also talks about how there is one particular important quality
to watch for. This is the Machiavelli s use of language. They use their words for purposes of their own
instead of being meaningful and honest while talking to someone. This tactic is used by Prince Hal.
While he talks with the commoners he makes them believe that he is there friend and that he speaks
the same language as them. He talks poorly about them behind their backs but is able to gain their
trust which is a good thing to have when he is running the kingdom. Shakespeare incorporated a lot of

Ironic Dynamics Between Characters In The Stranger By...
In the novel, The Stranger, the author, Albert Camus, creates a world of ironic dynamics between
characters, while challenge the non conformist protagonist, Meursault, to live in the same world aware
of said dynamics. Camus introduces the readers to characters like Raymond Sintes and old Salamano,
who live these ironic dynamics to a great extent. They both physically punish their problems: for
Raymond it is his ungrateful cheating prostitute, and for Salamano, his dilapidated spaniel. Despite
their apparent distaste and hatred for them, once they lose them, they seem to develop a need to have
them back in their life, their routine. They essentially lose whatever power they have over them, and
feel powerless without them. Camus also provides the reader with a very subtle example of irony in
Maman s late relationship with her fiancé, Thomas Pérez. Living in a retirement home, Maman
experienced many of her peers pass, or come close to their death, illuminating the mortality in the
human condition: death is inevitable. By accepting death as inevitable Maman was able to take
another chance at life, giving her a reason for taking on a fiancé near her end. After being imprisoned
for murder, Meursault feels he did nothing wrong, even realizing he has been right his whole life
about everything before his execution. Through the implementation of such ironic dynamics, of which
contrasts with Meursault s own dynamics, Camus illustrates how others denounce Meursault for his

World Systems Theory By Sociologist Immanuel Wallerstein
In the perspective of world systems theory, the United States is considered a core country, whereas the
global South (Africa, Latin America, and evolving Asia including the Middle East) contains a
multitude of peripheral countries. With such extensive poverty impeding the progress of countries
within the global South, it is possible that the United States can provide effective assistance. However,
an explanation must be presented to express how these core countries and peripheral countries become
just that, in order to determine how they can change their status. This paper intends to address how
countries grow, how the US can aid the global South in the struggle of poverty, and the possibility of
altering trade policies to eventually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to sovereignty, there are two types: internal and external. Internal sovereignty occurs
within your borders, whilst external sovereignty is when other countries recognize this total
autonomous power that has accumulated. Wallerstein agreed with the concept of less borders and
more commonalities. He theorized that the core and the periphery should think and act more as a
whole rather than different parts, as those parts affect the outcome of the same machine. Therefore, it
would stand to reason that if the United States were to assist the global South in reducing poverty, that
it would actually be beneficial for the system as a whole.
US aid: In the current world economy, core countries such as the US go through increases in wages,
employment, and general prosperity. However, when this phase comes to an end, it is the peripheral
countries that bear the burden. (Wallerstein, 30) For example, let s say that the US produces a product.
The production of this good does quite well, until there is a tipping point, otherwise known as an
overproduction . The product is manufactured at such a high rate that it surpasses the actual demand
for said good. Due to the surplus, the prices become more competitive and continue to decline, which
means that there is less of a profit. So, core countries then outsource their production processes to

The Life and Work of David Sedaris
David Sedaris has been compared to some of the greatest names in American Literature, including
Mark Twain, Dorothy Parker and James Thurber (Moredock). Not surprisingly, all of the
aforementioned authors captivated audiences with their sarcasm, wit, and humor three characteristics
that are indicative of Sedaris s writing in general. Sedaris has made a career as an author and recording
artist (having broadcast and recorded his works of literature numerous times) who finds insight and
points of laughter in the ordinary nuances of life. Most of his articles are autobiographical in nature, or
at least involve him as one of the principle characters in them. His 2004 book, Dress Your Family in
Corduroy and Denim, is quite typical in this respect. An analysis of a pair of articles in this
manuscript, Us and Them and The Girl Next Door , illustrates the author s propensity for detailing
some of the more humorous aspects of non traditional American families.
Sedaris was born in 1956, and spent part of his formative years living in upstate New York. His family
would soon move down south to North Carolina in the early 1960 s, exposing the fledgling author to
some semblance of city life. By his own accounts, his tenure in New York was spent in an exceedingly
rural location, which contrasted sharply with his surroundings in North Carolina. The unconventional
wit and humor (Burroughs) that the author displays in his writings more than likely descended, in part,
from his unusual

Those are the question raised in Brett Gaylor s documentary RiP: A Remix Manifesto, raises alarms

The documentary highlights the popular music artist known as Girl Talk. Girl Talk consists of one man
named Gregg Gillis and he takes parts from different songs (usually popular ones) and creates new
music of his own. He doesn t use any of his own materials at all. A lot of people consider his work

you can t even tell what all of the songs he uses are. Girl Talk is known as a mash up artist, and
according to the documentary, mash up artists have stirred up quite a controversy with both the
Copyright Company and the other artists they take their material from.
Copyright problems arose with the advent of the free availability of information on the Internet. It was
easy for people to steal music, movies and images from the internet and use them to create their own

websites like Napster began, musicians and other artists began suing and copyright laws became more

understanding of a lesson like giving daily warm up questions at the beginning of class. Another
reason for homework is there isn t enough dedicated time to do work at school. Teachers use
homework to use for students grades. There are many reasons for students receiving homework, but
receiving little to no homework could really be beneficial to students. Getting large amount of

Acquisition of Union Carbide
The Bhopal Disaster of 1984 was the worst industrial disaster in the history of the world. It was
caused by the accidental release of methyl isocyanate (MIC) from a Union Carbide India, Limited
(UCIL) pesticide plant located in the heart of the city of Bhopal. UCIL was a joint venture between
Union Carbide and a public/private consortium of Indian investors. The MIC leak killed thousands

Fracking And The Public Health
Hydraulic fracturing or fracking has become a concern both environmentally and in the public health
sphere in Western Maryland. In analyzing these ideas, the environment and public health concerns
intertwine in a discourse about the relationship on both power and knowledge. Fracking is a new issue
for the state of Maryland to consider; therefore dominant narratives on this subject are still being
developed and legitimized. Studies have been conducted in other regions around the world to analyze
the various effects fracking has had on the environment and within communities, both economically
and politically. However, despite the potential for Western Maryland to become a possible new site for
fracking, there is a lack of literature that specifically analyzes the environmental and public health
concerns as a discourse that may be detrimental to the people and the environment in this region. Also,
as a result of fracking being a relatively new source of natural gas, there has yet to be a significant

children how may I teach them to walk like men in the world, and I sold my friends? (Miller 142).
Proctor is unwilling to turn in his name because he does not want to betray others, just like Miller didn
t want to betray the members of the communist party. Proctor was more willing to give up his life
rather than to conform to the evil society of Salem. Miller and Proctor both also spoke out against
what was going on. Proctor did not believe in all of the lies that were created by the rumors of

The White Witch By James Weldon Johnson
Brovold 1
Emily Brovold
Sackett
English 11
2/17/17
The White *itch And back behind those smiling lips, / And down within those laughing eyes,.../ The
shadow of the panther lurks, / The spirit of the vampire lies (25, 26, 29, 30). The supernatural poem
The White Witch by James Weldon Johnson gives us an insight to what lay behind the curtains during
the Harlem Renaissance. The poem takes a real life situation of the era, white women luring black
men to their death via false blame, and portrays it as a fairy tale. Using symbolism, white women are
represented by an attractive and powerful witch who takes the black men as prey to portray the
message of how deceiving and evil white women were to falsely blame African American men of ...

Johnson s description of the witch s features became the most significant facet of the story, especially
the significance attaches to color symbolism: Her lips are like carnations red, / Her face like new born
lilies fair, / Her eyes like ocean waters blue... (13 15). J. Johnson uses the power of imagery here by
depicting the evil witch as a shockingly beautiful lady. He utilizes similes to convey that she is gentle
looking and captivating. With this image in mind, Johnson also makes it clear that looks can be
deceiving:
The great white witch you have not seen?
...Like nursery children you have looked
For ancient hag and snaggled tooth;
But no, not so; the witch appears
In all the glowing charms of youth. (7, 9, 10, 11, 12) The evil force of women in this time does not
appear to look like what you would assume. She is youthful, not old and snaggled toothed. Through
this we can see that the theme is the portrayal of a black man that has fallen victim to the witch s
power, and is now warning his brothers and friends. White women that had power over black men,
and even black women, abused their privileges and the people in the lower class were the ones
affected. In analyzation, the connotation aspect of this poem is how women during this time,
specifically white women, used their power over black men and their freedom. Although the texts
literal interpretation, or denotation,

Prince Hamlet s False Madness In Hamlet By William...
One can only fake madness for so long, with a traumatic past experience anyone could lose their sense
of control. In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare the main character, Prince Hamlet, fakes going
mad, but in that same faking he begins to believe his own lie. Hamlet begins to deteriorate into a
madman and while losing grip of his reality he dies due to the result of his insanity. Famous
psychologist, Sigmund Freud, had a theory that one s grown up life is affected by the past events in
one s childhood. Freud claimed that personality develops through a series of stages, each characterized
by a certain internal psychological conflict. As many people go through depression after a death of a
loved one, Prince Hamlet s father s death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While this might cause the audience to speculate Hamlet s sanity, it is mentioned Marcellus and
Horatio has also see the ghost proving that the ghost is not just in Hamlet s mind. During the
encounter Hamlet is asked to avenge his father s death. He feels that he must avenge his father s death,
which would fulfill the wish of pleasing him. Hamlet is left with the trauma of losing a parent while
expected to be happy for his mother s remarriage... to his father s murderer. Not only to disguise his
revenge, but save himself some time Hamlet tells his friends that he will pretend to be mad Here, as
before, never, so help you mercy, How strange or odd soe er I bear myself As I perchance hereafter
shall think meet To put an antic disposition on (Act 1 Scene V). However, a turn of events Hamlet s
madness seems to be manifesting inside him.
Assuming a fake insanity, Hamlet finds an excuse to act impulsively while concealing his real motive,
which is to take vengeance on King Claudius. As a result to his his mental state Shakespeare opts to
make the audience feel sympathy towards Hamlet due to suffering the great tragedy of losing their

Another good distinction between the past and present are the words written on the both halves of the mask. Stephanie Malena Hist B17a TR 1:00 2:35pm September 26, 2017 Sexist Decline to Racism In Jennifer Morgan s article Some Could Suckle over Their Shoulder : Male Travelers, Female Bodies, and the Gendering of Racial Ideology, she suggests that sexist beliefs contributed to the justification of racialized slavery. She proves this by providing accounts of European explorers describing those they encountered, which at first reveal an admiration for the strength and beauty they (African women) possessed but later began to associate them with unholy beasts . These Europeans lacked the ability to understand the independence of women in the matriarchal tribes having been blinded by biases learned by living in a patriarchal society. Once Native Americans and Africans were demonized for their lifestyles and deemed savage, they were more easily viewed as livestock rather than human beings. It became easier to enslave an entire race when they decided they were superior to those of a darker skin tone. A frequent source in Morgan s article is from Richard Ligon and his depiction of his personal encounters with other civilizations. (484) Later efforts by weather expert, John Park Finlay of the Army Signal Corps, to predict tornado formation were met with skepticism. The National Weather Service has invested a great sum of money into research, but the results have been sporadic. • 14. Argument On Miracles Are Impossible There is another argument against miracles, which has less to do with empirics and more to do with philosophy, namely the claim that miracles are impossible. No matter what I have accounted for above and no matter what we experience in life, there is no need to believe in miracles since they cannot happen, according to this view. It became popular during the so called enlightenment in the 18th century minority world, and its main proponents were pantheists like Voltaire and deists like Thomas Jefferson, who used theological arguments for their naturalism. From the pantheistic perspective, nature is god and so god cannot break natural laws because then he would break his own backbone. From a deistic perspective, god simply stopped intervening in his creation after he created it, and so miracles are impossible because god never wants to perform them (Jefferson even took a Bible and cut out all Jesus miracles with a pair of scissors to prove his point). Neither pantheism nor deism provide any substantial argument for these claims, but in the 19th century an atheist philosopher called David Hume, developed an argument against the probability of miracles that became popular. Hume did not argue that miracles are impossible, since that s as unprovable as claiming that God doesn t exist, but he thought that they are highly improbable to the extent that one should never believe a miracle report. • 21. Emotional Appeal Of Virginia Woolf Throughout Virginia Woolf s speech to the Women s Service League, she does her best to inform the audience about how women should overcome oppression in the professional world as a necessary change in society. Woolf s intentions are to build an emotional appeal to put help put the audience in her place. Through understatement, symbolism, and diction, Woolf develops a well stated opinion in hopes to enlighten her audience to the issue. Woolf starts her speech off by portraying strong understatements. In paragraph 1, she starts off by saying, It s true. I am a women; it s true I m employed . She uses a level of sarcasm when presenting this part to show that although she is a women, she has excelled well enough to become employed in the professional world. After this, Woolf states that her literary career was cut many years ago and that it built her career by making her path smooth and regulating her steps. Although her literary career was a helpful, she tries to play it off as though it was easy for her; in reality she faced many challenges. Then she goes on to state, because paper is so cheap, women have been more successful as writers than anything else. This allows Woolf to imply the financial differences between men and women, without blatantly saying so. Woolf is making it seem as though this career is easy just because it s the profession she was able to excel in. She uses understatements for two reasons. First, to create a connection with her audience. In a way that they see her as a peer, rather than a superior power. Secondly, she uses it to help create a sense of serenity among women who are too hesitant to start a profession. In sum, Woolf s use of understatements aids in portraying her argument to her audience. By exploiting strong symbolism to the consciences of her audience, Woolf informs her audience about The Angel in the House. This is a poem written in the 19th century about how women were oppressed and how they sacrifice themselves to impress; this in which is still going on today. The Angel in the House helps symbolizes the oppression and the low standards set for women. • 27. Compare Eddie Carbone A Tragic Hero I believe that the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings were. (Arthur Miller) To what extent can Eddie Carbone (A View from the Bridge) and Jay Gatsby (The Great Gatsby) be considered Tragic Heroes? What evidence is there in form, language and structure to support your view? In Greek tragedies, a tragic hero is traditionally characterised by several components, a notable one being that the hero must possess a noble status. This was emphasised by Aristotle in Poetics when he specified the tragic hero as one of those who stand out in great repute and prosperity. This quality has been shared among other tragedy writers such as William Shakespeare. However the eighteenth century saw the beginning of a Bourgeois ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can also see that Catherine is no longer dependant on him and his own wife, Beatrice, remains faithful but at the same time has lost any respect she had for him. Eddie is alone and pitiable; this point is intensified by the stage direction where we learn that his companions, those who admired him, have gradually deserted him: Lipari and wife exit ... Eddie calls after Louis and Mike. Eddie is even disgusted by himself as earlier in the play when he was telling the tale of Vinny Bolanzo, the boy who betrayed his parents, he condemningly questions How s he gonna show his face? Then comes the hero s demise. Carbone s death leaves no doubt as to whether Miller has fulfilled this particular criterion of the tragic hero.Although this is a tragic fall from grace there is still an argument that no ordinary man can have a fall that can scale up to the fall of a monarch. It is arguable that the degradation of nobility, seen in traditional tragedies, uncovers Carbone s decline as merely unimportant as he has so much less to lose than King like Oedipus. Nonetheless, the most important reaction to the fall of a hero is the reaction of the closest to the subject of defamation. So, although Oedipus may feel shame from the reactions of the people of his Kingdom, it is the reaction of his family and friends that cause the audience to wince on behalf of him. • 28. The Classical Cultures Of China Vs. China India vs China The classical civilizations of China and India were two of the most important and extant civilizations with major political development. The advanced technology like the ox drawn plows, paper, silk roads, etc shaped China s development. India was manifested by artistry, trade, and exceptional advances in mathematics. There were three main dynasties in classical China known as the Zhou, Qin, and Han Dynasty while India was founded by three empires: the Mauryan, Kushan, and Gupta empires. Even though these civilizations evolved around the same time, there are crucial differences and similarities. Religion, beliefs, hierarchical and patriarchal systems, and government reveal the distinction between the two civilizations. Confucianism and Daoism were the major belief systems in classical China that shaped their society. These belief systems were not exactly religions;they were created to teach individuals how to live life. Confucianism was introduced by Confucius, also known as Kung Fuzi, around 570 BCE. It focused on reverence for elders, self humility, and respect for rulers and the people being ruled. During the reign of Wu Ti, he emphasized values of Confucian philosophy and recorded the Confucian doctrine in a book called The Analects. The problems Confucius set out to rectify, notably political disorder, were approached through an emphasis on individual virtuous behavior (World Civilizations The Global Experience). When the Han Dynasty was first founded, it was heavily influenced by Shi Huangdi, a brutal and strict leader of the Qin Dynasty who ruled people under many rules and regulations. Confucius wanted to terminate that method of ruling and knock some sense into people on how to live life without brutality. Instead of living under hundreds of regulations/laws, Confucius developed a sense of shame that changed the society as a whole. People began to understand morals and values which formulated peace and prosperity. As a result, the Mandate of Heaven was passed which stated that the ruler is blessed by Gods and once the ruler becomes too corrupt, the dynasty would collapse. Contrary to Confucianism, legalism indicated that only rules and regulations would create order in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though it sounds pretty cynical the play shows that it is an important factor of leadership for Hal. In Shakespeare s mind, A successful leader must have some basic skills of the Machiavel. Some qualities of a Machiavel are being manipulative, inventive, charismatic, and willingful. Shakespeare incorporated all of these characteristics into Prince Hal to make him a great leader. In the novel, The Stranger, the author, Albert Camus, creates a world of ironic dynamics between characters, while challenge the non conformist protagonist, Meursault, to live in the same world aware of said dynamics. Camus introduces the readers to characters like Raymond Sintes and old Salamano, who live these ironic dynamics to a great extent. They both physically punish their problems: for Raymond it is his ungrateful cheating prostitute, and for Salamano, his dilapidated spaniel. Despite their apparent distaste and hatred for them, once they lose them, they seem to develop a need to have them back in their life, their routine. They essentially lose whatever power they have over them, and feel powerless without them. Camus also provides the reader with a very subtle example of irony in Maman s late relationship with her fiancé, Thomas Pérez. Living in a retirement home, Maman experienced many of her peers pass, or come close to their death, illuminating the mortality in the human condition: death is inevitable. By accepting death as inevitable Maman was able to take another chance at life, giving her a reason for taking on a fiancé near her end. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to sovereignty, there are two types: internal and external. Internal sovereignty occurs within your borders, whilst external sovereignty is when other countries recognize this total autonomous power that has accumulated. Wallerstein agreed with the concept of less borders and more commonalities. He theorized that the core and the periphery should think and act more as a whole rather than different parts, as those parts affect the outcome of the same machine. Therefore, it would stand to reason that if the United States were to assist the global South in reducing poverty, that it would actually be beneficial for the system as a whole. Sedaris has made a career as an author and recording artist (having broadcast and recorded his works of literature numerous times) who finds insight and points of laughter in the ordinary nuances of life. Most of his articles are autobiographical in nature, or at least involve him as one of the principle characters in them. His 2004 book, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, is quite typical in this respect. An analysis of a pair of articles in this manuscript, Us and Them and The Girl Next Door , illustrates the author s propensity for detailing some of the more humorous aspects of non traditional American families. Sedaris was born in 1956, and spent part of his formative years living in upstate New York. His family would soon move down south to North Carolina in the early 1960 s, exposing the fledgling author to some semblance of city life. The poem takes a real life situation of the era, white women luring black men to their death via false blame, and portrays it as a fairy tale. With this image in mind, Johnson also makes it clear that looks can be deceiving: The great white witch you have not seen? ...Like nursery children you have looked For ancient hag and snaggled tooth; But no, not so; the witch appears In all the glowing charms of youth.
