This study focuses on the formulation and development of gliclazide microspheres using the ionotropic gelation method with various bioadhesive polymers. The microspheres were characterized for drug content, entrapment efficiency, particle size, swelling index, and mucoadhesive properties, revealing that the formulation with sodium alginate and carbopol 934 exhibited superior performance. The results suggest that the ionotropic gelation method is effective for creating bioadhesive microspheres suitable for oral drug delivery.
