Argumentative Essay College
Writing an essay on the topic of "Argumentative Essay College" can present a unique set of
challenges. Firstly, one must navigate through a vast array of opinions and perspectives
surrounding the theme of higher education. There's an abundance of literature, research studies,
and personal anecdotes to consider, making it essential to sift through this wealth of information
to construct a coherent argument.
Furthermore, the topic itself is broad and multifaceted. It encompasses issues such as the value
of a college education, rising tuition costs, accessibility to higher education, the effectiveness of
different educational models, and more. Narrowing down the focus and developing a clear
thesis statement amidst this complexity requires careful deliberation and critical thinking.
Moreover, crafting a compelling argumentative essay demands thorough research to support one's
claims effectively. This involves not only finding reputable sources but also critically analyzing
and synthesizing the information to build a persuasive case. Additionally, counterarguments must
be anticipated and addressed to strengthen the overall validity of the essay.
Structuring the essay is another challenge, as it requires organizing ideas logically and cohesively
to ensure clarity and coherence. Each paragraph should contribute to the overarching argument
while maintaining a smooth flow of ideas. Balancing the presentation of evidence, analysis, and
personal insights within the confines of a coherent structure can be demanding.
Lastly, writing with clarity and precision is crucial to effectively convey ideas and persuade the
reader. This entails attention to detail, proper use of evidence and examples, and adherence to
the conventions of academic writing.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of "Argumentative Essay College" demands
thorough research, critical thinking, effective organization, and persuasive writing skills. It's a
challenging task that requires careful navigation through a complex array of ideas and
perspectives.

Controversial Hunting
What goes through the minds of people when they think about trophy hunting?
Hunting is the act of pursuing and killing live animals for food, recreation, or trade.
Early human civilizations relied on hunting for subsistence. As humans and
civilizations evolved, so did hunting. Hunting became a sport rather than a necessity.
People who are for huntingclaim that it helps control wildlife populations, whereas
people against it believe that trophy hunting will lead to the extinction of certain
animals. This paper will examine viewpoint one, two, and my viewpoint on trophy
hunting being banned or not.
To begin with, viewpoint one believes trophy hunting serves no purpose and is
contributing to the eradication of species. For starters, grizzly ... Show more content

Specifically, trophy hunting could harm the environment and the entire species of the
animal killed. Firstly, grizzly bears help the environment and other animals in the
rainforest. For example, David Suzuki talks about how grizzlies bring salmon, along
with nutrients from the ocean in the salmon, into the rainforest. This leaves the
carcass of the salmon for other animals and the nutrients in the salmon for the
fertilization of the rainforest (Suzuki). Therefore, trophy hunting grizzlies harms
more than just the one bear the hunter killed. Secondly, illegal markets caused a rise
in hunting, leading to more animals being killed to be sold. For instance, Richard
Emslie and Michael Knight report that pseudo hunters would get permits to hunt
rhinos and sell their horns. This caused a temporary peak in hunting applications
(Emslie). Therefore, the hunting of animals caused illegal markets to pop up, in
which caused more people to hunt. Thirdly, some animals are already facing threats
without hunters. To illustrate, Suzuki, talking about grizzly bears, says they already
face threats from habitat loss, damage and fragmentation; cascading effects of salmon
collapse and climate change; and death from poaching. Hence, hunting only furthers
problems animals have. For all these reasons, trophy hunting is harming the
environment and other animals, plus the ones they are

Occurrences Of Natural Disaster Or Man-Made Disaster
Final literature review
Introduction
Occurrences of natural disaster or man made disaster have increased this last decade
thus there is a constant need to provide humanitarian support to population affected
by such disasters. Means of communications are vital to manage rescues operation
during down time. However, in worst case scenario most of the infrastructures are
getting damaged. Therefore, it is essential to restore communications within the
disaster zone. This literature review is divided in three main stages, which are the
consequences of a natural disaster, the need of communication and the solutions
available to provide communication to the population.
Disaster consequences
The Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED, 2009) defines a
disaster as an unforeseen event that causes destruction and resulted in a high number
of civilian casualties, that overwhelms local capacity and request international
assistance. Alexander (2014) agrees An emergency is defined as an exceptional event
that exceeds the capacity of normal resources and organization to cope with it .
Impacts of disaster are usually measured by the cost of direct and indirect losses.
What is meant by Indirect losses are losses of employment, temporary unemployed
resulting from business disruption caused by building collapsing (National Research
Council U.S, 1989) thus the impact can last for an indeterminate period of time
(Alexander, 2014b) therefore the cost of Indirect losses caused by natural disasters are
difficult to quantified. Whereas direct losses encompass physical destruction,
casualties, communication loss, transportation, and emergency response. (National
Research Council U.S, 1999). Munich Re (1989, cited in Hoeppe, 2016) states that
cost of losses caused by natural disaster have extremely increased since 1950 mainly
because of population growth and the complexity of infrastructures in modern
societies.
The professor Rahman defines the complex relationship between infrastructures as
infrastructures interdependencies where each node is known as a Critical
Infrastructures. According to Moteff and Parfomak (2004) a CI is a system that if
disrupted can lead to serious issues on the wellbeing of society.

United Nations Shortcomings
The United Nations is one of the most well known international organizations in the
world. It tries to serve the task of maintaining international order by promoting
international collaboration throughout its 193 member states and various agencies.
The United Nations facilitates order by the coordination of international security,
international law, economic development, human rights, social progress, and trying
to maintain world peace. Overall, the United Nationshas failed to deliver on its main
objectives which has resulted in the organization having little to no power. The
United Nations shortcomings are evidently shown through the United Nations
Security Council s (UNSC) unsuccessful prevention of international conflicts, its
organization s ignorance towards human rights crimes, and the little to no
authoritative power that the organization possesses in resolving conflicts as a
mediator.
The United Nations most widely known purpose is to prevent conflicts within and
between countries. However, the United Nations has failed to prevent a plethora of
conflicts, resulting in catastrophic consequences. An ongoing conflict, The Somali
Civil War began in 1991. In 1992, as the Somali Civil War crisis worsened, the
United Nations Security Council (UNSC) sanctioned the Unified Task Force
(UNITAF) to initiate a safe and protective environment to allow humanitarian efforts
to proceed. However, the UN s efforts completely failed, resulting in a crisis.

Theories Of The Nazca Lines
The Mysteries of the Nazca Lines The Nazca Lines discovered in 1939, by Paul
Kosok, are gigantic drawings that cover the Nazca Desert in southern Peru ( The
Nazca Lines , web). It is said that the Nazca people are the creators of these lines, but
when the Nazca people and their culture vanished the Lines were the only things left
behind. Today, many historians and archaeologists are left with this Desert riddle.
There are many theories concerning the Nazca Linesand their origin, what they could
possibly mean and who put them there. There are no exact answers but these theories
and ideas have provided many possibilities that have brought historians closer to
solving the mystery. Although theories of the NazcaDesert drawings include... Show

These theories are the ones that are supported by much evidence and provides a
reasonable explanation to the mysterious meaning of the lines. In the Nazca
Desert, water is a scarce resource, but necessary for their overall survival. The
solution could have been performing these rituals to ask the Gods for rain. A video
by UNESCO explaining some background of the Nazca Lines suggests, Experts
believe the Nazca used to dance along the lines of the geoglyphs when they prayed
for rain, ( Lines and Geoglyphs of Nazca and Pampas de Jumana (UNESCO/NHK)
, web). The dancing of the natives could have been part of a ritual to plead for
water. This was a very important part in their everyday lives because it was their
way of communicating with the Gods and telling them what it is that they needed
to be able to continue. Some of the geoglyphs drawn are the killer whale, spider,
monkey, condor and hummingbird. All of these animals are linked to water and
are important for the Nazca people. The theory of the lines being linked to water is
the most probable that even in other theories like the astronomy ones can be
brought back to having some thing to do with water. The ideas that Maria Reiche
and Paul Kosok studied about an astronomical calendar can be refined to agricultural
clock, as mentioned in Archaeology, The sun enters this region of the horizon at the
time of year late October when water beings to run in the rivers and their
underground canals. If builders of the Nazca Lines had intended to incorporate an
orientation calendar into their complex maze of lineation, we would logically expect
not the solstices or equinoxes to be prominent in the plan, but rather the most
significant times in the agricultural year to be indicated, just as they are at Cuzco,
(Aveni, 39). Eventually, it is revealed in some theories that water has a massive
significance to the meaning and
The Worst Life Choice Research Paper
On the night of May 11th, I made the worst life choice of my life. I decided to
enjoy the last night of the semester on the campus of the University of North
Carolina at Charlotte by drinking an alcoholic beverage with some friends. I
decided to engage in underage drinking and I am now facing criminal charges.
Around 11:00 p.m., on the night of May 11, 2016 some friends invited me to their
dorm room to hang out. When I arrived, they were drinking, so I decided to have a
drink also. After hanging out for a while, I returned to my dorm room, but decided
to leave again once I learned through social media that another friend was hanging
out in a nearby room. I decided to go by just to speak since this was the last night of
the semester, and
Change in Values and Perspectives in Streetcar Named...
Adversity can present itself in a wide range of severities, and it can have drastic
effects on an individual. A man is insensible to appreciate prosperity until he has
gone through some kind of adversity. Hardships and adversity develop and shape a
person s identity and also plays a big role in shaping one s personal values. John
Locke, a famous philosopher, once said that Let us suppose the mind to be, white
paper void of all characters, without any ideas. How comes it be furnished? To this
I answer, in one word, from experience . The quote says that humans are born like
clean slates and adversity plays a major role in shaping people. In the modern play A
Streetcar Named Desire, the author, Tennessee Williams, suggests that individuals are
blank slates and adversity plays a major factor in shaping their values and their
perspective on things. This is shown through the characters of Blanche Dubois, Stella
Kowalskiand Stanley Kowalski. Living on plantation in Laurel Mississippi,
Blanche Dubois considers herself a southern Belle. Her life at Belle Reve does not
fulfil her dreams that she once envisioned and instead she found herself assuming
responsibilities of huge proportions. She was left to incur al financial debts, while
having to pay for the costly funerals of her relatives. At last she was unable to pay her
debts and she had to give in and lose her beloved land. In addition, she faces the
adversity of lifelong guilt because of her making a cruel remark to her late

Symbolic Interactionism Theory Of Smoking
Symbolic Interactionism Theory sees interactions and meanings as central to society,
and assumes that meanings are not inherent, but are created through interactions
(Chp. 1 Theory). An example of Symbolic Interactionism Theory is smoking
(informal). Smoking is harmful to your health. A person may associate a meaning
for smoking. They might use smoking for means as a way to meet a new friend.
When two smokers meet, and one offers the other a cigarette, that is a way to
become acquainted with someone. The gesture here is the offer of a cigarette from
one person to another. This gesture is positively sanctioned because the person makes
a new friend. The negative sanction is the harmful effects that a cigarette has on a

This is associated with larger ideology in our society because in our society, it is
considered rude and creepy to stare at people. I believe that this is a norm because
people tend to be more introverted or personal nowadays, and they do not want
others to be nosy. This is most likely a norm in most cultures because it is
considered rude. This norm is often sanctioned negatively when broken because it
is rude to stare at others. I think that race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and
age play a factor as to how people around them respond. Race, gender, sexual
orientation, religion and age also affect the response of the person as well. If a
white person is being targeted by this experiment, then more people would notice
and more people would probably react and ask me what I was doing. If an African
American was being targeted by this experiment, then people would not act as
concerned. EXPERIMENT TIME The experiment was conducted was April 3,
2017 at 9:16 AM at the Building E Sitting area. My partner, Matthews, and I were
seated near the window in E. The test subjects around us were of many different
races and both genders. All of them seemed to be middle class and around the ages
of 18 21. The subjects that we experimented were all male. Our first subject was
named Cameron. I saw Cameron sitting at his table from our table. He was about 3
tables away from us and was on his phone. I told Mathews that
Influence Of Past And Present
Influence of past and present.
Definitely we all have our past and what we are living with is present. Past could be
sweet or bitter whatever we have spent directly and indirectly influences our present.
It is also said that our present is determined by our past. How we spent our
childhood, environment we have grown up, education we took, family background,
nature of the family members and occupations of our parents. All of those are the past
variables connected with our present. That s why our past life is considered as the
direct variable of our present life, which has direct impact with where we are today.
I am not talking all of the substances that the past life connection with the present.
The main concern of my past influences is if we had our bad past life, how to
overcome them and just take a good lesion to move forward in our life. Everyone
must have gone with different situations in the past. We could have very interesting
past lives as well; some of us might have spent the horrible due to certain tragedy
we never want to remember that again. Whatever the past either it is sweet or bitter,
past is already gone but the memory has left us with us frequently affecting our
present. We have to learn to be proud for the accomplishment we made instead of
regretting with the failure in the past. We have to celebrate our reward even we had a
bitter time yesterday. That is already passed away and never come back but our
present is more precious that we have to deserve
I Am David Book Vs Movie
I always thought that the books were always better than the movie based of the
book. But, after watching I am David, I thought differently. The movie brought
more emotion, more suspense, and it kept the story flowing better than the book
did. To begin, the movie brought more emotion to the story. These emotion that the
book lacked were portrayed in the movie. Some of these included when David
realizes that his mother is alive, when he talks with Sophie, and the actors in
general. The actor for David(add actors name) brought more emotion the way he
looked and acted. This couldn t be told by the book with words as well as the
movie. The actor for Honnas(Add actors name) added to the emotions the way he
responded what was happening around him at what he was thinking. The book lacked
this because they couldn t show what Honnas looked like and his emotions.... Show

The movie created the suspense that the book lacked. This suspense was created
with the flashbacks so we could understand what David was remembering and
thinking of. The flashbacks created suspense throughout the movie, but especially
in a few parts. One of these parts is when David realizes that Honnas sacrificed
himself for david because David stole the soap. Another part more suspense is
created is when David is in the church and sees the guard, and realizes that the man
had to shoot any one with the soap. But once the man sees that David has the soap
he doesn t want to shoot David and signals to Honnas who takes the soap. Even
though the man doesn t want to shoot Honnas because he was David s friend, he had

The Purification Of Methane
Texas LNG, a company that focuses on liquidizing natural gas, has proposed to build
a facility in the port of Brownsville. While the masses might see it as an economical
opportunity or a chance for Brownsville to put itself in the map, environmentalists are
against the construction of such facility. Past ideas of such innovative and beneficial
gains have had disastrous results, which destroy the environment. Consequently, the
construction of such facility reeks of air pollution, untrustworthy practices, and the
potential to ruin the entire Rio Grande Valley. Purification of methane is
straightforward and manageable when it is in a liquid state, which purifies to be 98%
methane, compared to past purification methods that only go up to 95%.
Life And Death That Polish Literature
Writing thrives as a favorable way of expressing one s ideas and beliefs. Sharing
one s thoughts on paper has always been part of the role of being a writer; it serves
a purpose of writing a reflection of one s personal thoughts and opinions. From the
Medieval era to the Renaissance era, Poland is remarked as a period of change.
Poland was expanding as a country and many political events were occurring. During
this span of time, Polish literature signifies various changes in its themes, beliefs and
language all constituted with a purpose. The theme of life and death overpowers
Polish literature written during these two eras. Two pieces that demonstrate an
experience of death and how the author s worldview comes through the text are Jan...

The piece that demonstrates a wide scope of his worldview is Laments. Jan
Kochanowski expresses his despair and emotions after the loss of his child in the
form of treny. Treny are an older style of writing that praise the life and
accomplishments of those who passed, especially well known figures.
Kochanowski s Laments can be distinguished from the typical treny for the sole
reason that the subject is a child instead of a famous or intellectual individual.
However, the main character in Laments is Kochanowski himself. He plays the role
of a grieving father and author who struggles to find the value and trust in any
philosophy, religion and life itself after his daughter s death disrupted his reality. In
the article Why We Write About Grief, Oates explains that Grief is the most humane
of emotions but it is a one sided emotion; it is not reciprocated. This is exactly what
makes Laments credible for the Kochanowski s worldview through death. He
experienced it himself as a parent; one cannot simply understand how it feels to lose
a child. It is not a typical telling of a story about death; it is the dark emotions of a
mourning father. Throughout the Laments, Kochanowski intertwines the theme of
searching ways to relieve pain and his bitter reflection on death. Specifically, he
expresses a rebellion against death.

My Values In My Life
When life seems to be taking a turn for the worst it is easy to see how many people
and things that mean the most to us. It can get rough, but it is what we make out of
the situation that helps us move forward and keep us in line for the next few hard
times we have. When I look back at how I managed my stress this last semester I see
that this relaxation class helped me through some hard times.
On a normal day to day bases I spend most of my time where I place the most value
in my life. I spend lots of time on the farm and that is where my animals and my
family is so it is apparent that I like to be there. Also my faith means a lot to me
and that is why I try to be as kind and compassionate to others so that people will
know the real me. When times get hard, as they did in the last week, because one
of my classmates from high school committed suicide, it put lots of stress on me
going into the week before finals. I learned that I need to stay true to my values.
Some of the values that are keeping me strong are my core values faith, family,
nature, and exercise. By keeping these values close I can remember to stay strong in
my times of need, even when things get hard.
I believe when something bad happens it always has to be at the most stressful and
vulnerable time in my life. Then it seems like I just keep going into a deeper hole,
that I am digging for myself. My stress right now is coming from past anxiety and
future stress. When something tragic comes up it normally
Mirrored Path To Empathy
The Mirrored Path to Empathy The most frequently taught description of empathy in
today s college textbooks defines it as emotional reactions that are focused on, or
oriented toward, other people and include feelings of compassion, sympathy, and
concern (Baron Branscombe, 2012). Furthermore, students are also learning that there
may be a societal decline in empathythat is occurring among college students at a
small but somewhat significant level. Unfortunately, there are currently no empirical
answers for this decline. Empathy is an enigma that science has longed to understand
and explain since Theodor Lipps and Edward Tichener named the earliest known
concept of imitation and empathy, Einfuhlung, in the early 1900s (Gerdes, Lietz,...

Pier Ferrari asserts that existing evidence supports empathy as a combination of both
an innate, visceral response, driven by the mirror neuron system and a higher,
multidimensional cognitive process. In his discussion of available literature, entitled
The Neuroscience of Social Relations, Ferrari describes empathy as a phenomenon
where biology, emotion and cognition work simultaneously to produce empathy, also
suggesting that mimicry is the core element of this so called phenomenon (2014).
Ferrari rendered the neurological basis of empathy in perhaps the most simplistic
terms, by stating that mirror neurons found in the pre motor and parietal cortices fire
when behavior is both observed and performed, supporting the theory that mirror
neurons make empathy a biological and visceral response. He noted that adjacent
areas of the brain related to emotion are also activated, which may mean that they are
also capable of mirroring. He then points to the ability of humans to cognitively
evaluate a situation and make decisions without completely succumbing to the
vicarious feelings of the other individual, allowing the observing person to feel
empathy with a level of detachment that facilitates decisions for self preservation and
The Heroic Traits Of Robin Hood
Robin Hood has characteristics commonly associated with both heroes and
criminals, and depending on how other characters interact with Robin, he is either
a hero or a hoodlum. People like the villagers Robin Hood always find food or
money revere him as a saint, as Sir Guy mentioned. However, Sir Guy himself as
well as the Sheriff see Robin as a nasty outlaw who always steals from them.
Contradictory to what Sir Guy believes, Robin Hood is a hero. Only a hero would
be brave enough to steal from people who have the power to execute him so
peasants could have enough food and money to survive. Another heroic trait about
Robin Hood is his generosity, shown in Scene 5 when he selflessly distributed food
to the villagers who couldn t afford it. Robin
The Body in Western and Non Western Cultures
How do people view the body? The answer varies from location, religion and
culture. How western cultures view the body and how the body is treated (our
body and others) are different from how non western cultures view and treat
bodies. We can see the differences in the western and non western bodies in such
works as Anne Fadiman s account of a Hmong child in America and in articles like
Genital Surgeries: Gendering Bodies. Along with the many differences between
western and non western thoughts there are also several similarities. Especially
when it comes to metaphors of the body. The generalized western opinion of the
body is that it is akin to an object. Like a car the body is composed of several diverse
aspects. From a medical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women find that natural female genitals are unclean and ugly and the surgeries
create a more pleasing, smooth, and feminine genital area (page 95 Genital Surgeries)
For many women practicing genital surgery it is a form of cosmetic surgery. It has
the same purpose (to make the body look appealing) and some of the same risks
(excessive bleeding and tearing) as many cosmetic surgeries used in western cultures.
Although many western cultures denounce these practices as being barbaric and
unfair these western cultures actually practice genital surgery on children. For
example, many baby boys in the United States are circumcised at birth for both
aesthetic reasons and for health concerns. Children born with both male and female
genitalia are seen as medical emergencies and surgeries to correct this anomaly are
done as soon as possible.
The western and non western view of the body is very different. As we infer from
comparing the western view of the body to the Hmong view of the body there are
many ways to view the body than the one we were brought up to believe. However,
we can also see from western metaphors and Hmong metaphors that a sick body is
recognized by most people as being sick. We are also able to see with genital surgery
that although society standards are different for every culture each culture uses
surgery as a way to enhance the body and make it more pleasing to look at. Even
with drastically different views of the

Introduction
Effective communication can be considered an art as much as a science. There are of
course many best practices that one can study to improve their ability to
communicate. However, it can be difficult to distinguish different success factors
responsible for effective communication various individual scenarios. For example, it
is often hard to determine what went right or wrong in any given conversation.
However, at the same time, effective communication is generally cited as one of the
most important critical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number of different theories serves as evidence of the level of complexity that is
inherent in the concept of leadership. Despite this complexity, virtually every
leadership model states that effective communication is among the most important
success factors. This analysis will select different leadership models and compare and
contrast how these models view effective communications. Competing theories
include such perspectives as trait theory, situational theory, behavioral theory,
competencies theory, network theory of leadership and many more. This analysis will
consider transformational leadership, transactional leadership, servant leadership, and
Level 5 leadership to attempt to identify any differences and similarities in the ways
these theories include effective communication in their theories.
Transformational Leadership
Transformational leadership has been called one of the most effective among the
various theories of leadership (Judge Bono, 2000). Transformational leaders are able
to encourage their teams to reach their full potential by setting challenging
expectations which into turn leads to the team achieve higher performances (Bass,
1999). Transformational leaders are also commonly associated with change and
change management because they are able to inspire people to overcome their
Asthma Treatment
Asthma Treatment
Asthma is best described as a chronic inflammation the pulmonary lower airways
because of hyperresponsiveness of lower airway obstructions that is usually
reversible (Fireman, 2003). Asthma is triggered by cold air, exercise, viral upper
respiratory infections, cigarette smoking, and respiratory allergens. One in 12 people
in the United States has been diagnosed with asthma which is approximately 25
million people which accounts for 8% of the total population (AAAAI, 2016). It is
estimated that the average cost for care of asthma in the United States is about
$3,300.00 yearly in related medical expenses, missed school, missed worked days
and early death (AAAAI, 2016). The purpose of this paper is to describe the long
term treatment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An effective asthma plan should include: knowing the triggers of the patient s asthma
attacks, taking the prescribed medication to control asthma and being able to
recognize the early signs of an asthma attack (AAFA, 2015). Being able to understand
and identify triggers reduces the use and need for medication and prevents asthma
attacks from occurring. Educating patients on the regular use of prescribed
medication and the importance of compliance is a key factor in asthma management.
Prescribing patient with meter dose inhaler is a beneficial option in the management
of an acute asthma attack for patients. An important goal to set for patients with
asthma is the use of a peak flow meter that can help the patient detect early narrowing
of the airways hours or even days before an asthma attack
Compare And Contrast Psychology And Graphic Design
Psychology and graphic design may seem like two entirely different subjects;
however, they are very integrated topics as one can t work without the other. Both
psychology and graphic design are two widely complex subjects that are almost
nearly impossible to get a straight answer on how do graphic designers use
psychologyin their designs? To understand psychology and graphic design one has to
look into the history of both, separate and together.
Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and its function. The study of
psychology is a very wide and diverse field as human behavior is varied and
unpredictable. Unlike physics or chemistry, there is no set in stone answers and or
complete reasonings behind them. The areas of psychology are divided into two
groups, basic and applied. (Source) Basic areas of study are an inquiry into what,
how, and why the human mind works as it does. Applied areas make use of the
knowledge, that is gained in the basic area, to better the human situation. The
psychology of graphic design falls under the basic area due to the emotion,
consciousness, motivation, and the learning aspect of design. (Cite)
During these Middle Ages, people with mental illness were accused to have
stigmata diaboli (marks of the devil). Apparently they were physical marks, but the
marks were different to every doctor or psychologist who looked at them and they
were subjective to what they actually were. Many people found that these marks were
self given,
Potential Inappropriate Medication (HT)
INTRODUCTION Hypertension (HT), defined as a chronic elevation of systolic and
/or diastolic blood pressure (BP), is in all probability the most common chronic
disease today. Clinically hypertension is not a disease at usual sense it is a risk factor
for many future vascular diseases1,2. In human body blood pressure is maintained by
several factors such as kidney, sympathetic nervous system, hormonal mechanisms
along with the diet taken. These include lipids, magnesium, sodium, potassium and
the total energy intake3. When two or more drugs are co administrated together there
is a possibility of developing drug interactions. These alteration may be caused due to
changes in the concentration of drug (pharmacokinetic interaction) or may be due...

Doctors should cautious about Potential Inappropriate Medication (PIM) and other
potential drug disease interactions (PDDI). In this patients homeostatic mechanisms
and functional capacities of most drugs are reduced on being aged. Decline in
renal function and GFR also affect the drug clearance. It is evident from many
other studies about the age related reduction in metabolic capacity of liver of
man5. This significantly influence the pharmacokinetics of a drug. Apart from
kinetics pharmacodynamic changes in the elderly patients are ascribed to changes
in the sensitivity to drugs. Polypharmacy is common in elderly patients is that
more than 40% persons aged 65 or above use more than 5 drugs and 12% use ten or
more different medications7. This makes elderly populations more susceptable to
drug interactions. The probability of potential drug interactions for a person taking
7 or more drugs is 82% whereas it is only 13% for a person taking two
Jackie Robinson Turning Point Analysis
1. How do turning points impact a person s life, family, and country? A turning
point can be described as a life changing event that can have a negative or positive
outcome on a person. In the autobiography, I Never Had It Made , by Jackie
Robinson, the memoir, Warriors Don t Cry , By Melba Pattillo Beals, and the article,
The Father of Chinese Aviation by Rebecca Maksel each of the individuals faced
turning points. Jackie Robinson, Melba Pattillo Beals, and Feng Ru all faced life
changing experiences that changed both their lives and their countries.
2. Jackie Robinson s life changed when he became the first black man to play in the
world series and Major League Baseball (MLB) during a time of segregation in
America. These life changing events challenged him because he had to face
racially tense crowds and endured threats from teammates, opponents, and bigoted
fans. For example in paragraph three, the text states, Some of my own teammates
refused to accept me because I was black. This quote explains a negative portraying
event that comes upon Jackie Robinson. Also in paragraph three the text states,
There were threats against me and my family and even out and out attempts and
physical harm to me. This explains how Jackie felt uneasy about how the whites
were trying to put Jackie down. Despite the racism he faced, Robinson learned to
have pride in his accomplishments and appreciate the courage, support, and love
shown by his supporters. For example, in paragraph eleven, the text states, I don t
think I ll ever forget that small, shrill voice of a tiny white kid, in the midst of a
racially tense atmosphere during an early game in a Dixie town, cried out, Attaboy,
Jackie. This explains how because of one his supporters was cheering him on he felt
he had to succeed even if most people wouldn t accept him. Jackie s challenges made
him a popular name to remember in the Major Leagues today.
3. Melba Pattillo Beals life changed when she integrated an all white high school.
The events challenged Beals because she faced racism and because of this she built
up confidence and character. In paragraph thirteen the text states, Some of the white
people looked totally horrified while others raised their fists

Gossip Girl Series
The adolescent years are a tough struggle for any young adult experiencing body
changes, mood swings, and social issues and when mass media places even more
pressure on teens to dress or act in a particular way it only adds additional stress
and anxiety. Most teenagers want to be part of the in crowd and some will do
whatever it takes to climb to the top to be accepted or cool . The high society
adolescents in Gossip Girl are no different, they are portrayed as self centered teens,
who think class, money and designer clothes will get them whatever they want.

Every teenager has a strong need to fit in and be part of a clique. It is hard to be an
individual in high school; teens often feel that they need to conform to what their
peers are doing to fit in no matter what cost. The elite group in Gossip Girl was
popular based on their status in society and the designers they were wearing. In a
typical high school the popular kids are the ones that are involved in sports and can
afford to follow the new clothing trends. During adolescent years teens want to form
an identity, Erikson s identity crisis explains the struggle between identity
achievement vs. identity confusion (Jafari, J. Identity.). Erikson believed that at
each stage of life there is a particular issue or crisis, and during adolescents it is the
struggle with identity (Jafari, J. Identity.). Dan and Jenny had a difficult time forming
their own identities; they wanted so badly to fit in that they lost themselves along
the way. I am sure there are many high school students who experience this crisis of
identity achievement and confusion, when trying to find a clique to be a part of or
simply trying to find
Human Service Organization
As stated in the text Effectively Managing and Leading Human Service Organizations
an organization s mission works to meet a need. Without a mission the organization
loses its direction, support, and its legitimacy. This was no clearer than in my first
position higher education began in the University s Office of Diversity. I recall being
incredibly excited because I had originally been a member of the minority student
organizations as well as several community organizations, and this opportunity
represented the chance to really work in passion that I had developed for helping to
further an agenda for supporting students of color and educating the campus
community on issues affecting these communities. Within the first month of managing

Of course I believed the office did not function in an effective or efficient manner to
truly impact the target client. Furthermore, the office had severe shortcomings in
explaining the very existence of the office other than its connections to the Black
Alumni events and four diversity scholarships. There was no program assessment or
clear mission.
The struggle between the mission and the effort of an organization is one that not
only impacts higher education. Nonprofits face this issue more than any other entity.
In his book Begging for Change: The Dollars and Sense of Making Nonprofits
Responsive, Efficient and Rewarding for All, Egger encourages organizations that
they must move beyond the who and the what and get to the how and the why.

Analysis of Third Person Narratives of Two Novels
Ask any author what the most important aspect of their work is (whether that be
fiction or not) and they will all probably say the same four things: plot, setting,
characters, and narration. This is also true for the three novels we have studied thus
far in class: Vathek, The Castle of Otranto, and The Mysteries of Udolpho. The dark
gloomth setting, the larger than life characters, and the supernaturally centered plot
lines all make these books Gothic novels, but how would one characterize the
narrators? If there is anything that these three novels we have studied thus far have in
common, it is that each of them have a third person narrator. Andrew Vachss, an
American crime fiction author, once said that The third person narrator,... Show more

3 ) Although, The Horse and His Boy is far from a Gothic novel, as it is actually a
children s novel, the similar introduction of the main characters strikes me as
something that must be common among authors who use the Arabian setting for their
works. This specific familial introduction of the particular character by the narrator
suggests the nobility of the character and emphasizes that this is a character that we
should know. While the opening descriptions of Vathek can be categorized as
somewhat subjective, especially to the stereotypes of Arabia, The Castle of Otranto
s opening lines are objective. Walpole introduces the characters of the story as
simply as possible. The narrator gives no bias to the characters, he just communicates
facts such as that Matilda was a beautiful virgin and Conrad was sickly:
Manfred, Prince of Otranto, had one son and one daughter; the latter, a most
beautiful virgin, aged eighteen, was called Matilda. Conrad, the son, was three years
younger, a homely youth, sickly, and of no promising disposition; yet he was the
darling of his father, who never showed any symptoms of affection to Matilda
(Walpole, 27).
Unlike Vathek which conveys a message of dangerous magic right from the start, the
narrator of The Castle of Otranto gives the reader a much
Accuracy Of Eyewitness Testimony
Introduction
Eyewitness testimony has been used as an important tool in the criminal justice
system. When there is lack of other kinds of evidence, police often rely on
eyewitness to find potential suspects. In court, eyewitness testimony is a kind of
important evidence associates with DNA or other types of evidence. However, many
psychologists think that it should not be used in the criminal justice system as most of
the wrongful convictions were caused by inaccurate eyewitness testimony.
Although eyewitness testimony is not always accurate, the criminal justice system
can evaluate the accuracy through some factors and make it a more useful tool.
Three main factors will be discussed in this essay, which are confidence of
eyewitness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The accuracy rate was high, and the other two groups showed similar results. In the
self rate interview group, 96% and 98% in the interviewer rate interview group. The
result confirms that the witness s confidence can be used to infer accuracy. And
interviewer may increase their confidence. While interviewing by person,
participants might think that they were considered a good eyewitness and good
eyewitness supposed to give the right details. Therefore, they have more confidence
in themselves and are more likely to do better than completing the task on papers.
Another study was conduct by Short and Dalby (2007) to support this theory. 106
participants completed the study by watching a videotape and identifying the suspect
in the photo line up. The video showed a man stealing a lady s purse in a hair salon.
At the end, they rated their confidence from 1 7 (low high). In this study, only 32% of
the participants correctly identified the culprit. These participants had an average of
5.3 when they rated the confidence level, while participants who made inaccurate
identification only had an average of 4.9. That means participants who gave the
correct answers had high confidence in themselves. When evaluating the accuracy of
eyewitness testimony, eyewitness s confidence can be considered in court,
accompany with the other two important factors which will be discussed later.
Kruskal Algorithm Essay
Kruskal s Algorithm
Introduction:
In 1956, the minimum spanning tree algorithm was firstly described by Kruskal. In
same paper where he rediscovered the Jarnik s algorithm. The algorithm was
rediscovered in 1957 by Loberman and Weinberger, but avoided to be renamed after
them. The main idea of Kruskal s algorithms is as follows:
Scan all the edges in the increase of weight order;
[If any edge is safe, keep it (i.e. add it to the set A)]
Kruskal s Algorithm is directly based on generic MST algorithm. It builds MST in
the forest. On the initial level, each of the vertex is in its own tree in the forest.
Then the algorithm consider each of the edge in turn, order by the increase of

Galton s On The Origin Of Species
The poster being critiqued uses a family tree theme to convey the theory of
heritability of intelligence. The theme logically fits the theory and, to some extent, is
memorable. However, there is arguably too much text for the poster to be understood
in a few minutes. The poster also includes information about environmental factors
that influence intelligence, potentially distracting the viewer from the main concept
of heritability. A solution to these critiques is to focus solely on the theory of
heritability, thus minimising text and preventing confusion.
The theory of heritability of intelligence was proposed by Francis Galton (1869) in
his book Hereditary Genius ; the first scientific study of ingenuity. Galton was
influenced by his cousin s (Charles Darwin, 1859) book On the Origin of Species
which portrays the thesis that animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To tests this, he developed historiometry, defined as quantitative analysis of historical
data about representative people (Simonton, 1990). Following Adolphe Quetelet s
research, one of the first to use historiometry (Simonton, 1997), Galton obtained data
about imminent men from biographical sources which he compared in numerous
ways. His analyses concluded that the number of imminent relatives when comparing
first degree relatives to second degree and so forth, had an inverse relationship: the
more distant the relative of an imminent individual, the less likely they were
themselves to be imminent; Galton perceived this as evidence for heritability of
intelligence. This research has limitations however, including the use of retrospective
data and the difficulty in distinguishing nature and nurture. Galton, aware of these
limitations, sought to compare twins, overcoming these critiques. In his paper The
History of Twins (Galton, 1876) he concluded the evidence supported nature rather

screaming. She then glanced at her leg, which was warped backwards.
Caroline was brought to a hospital and told that she had a dislocated patella. She

Essay on The Functions and Goals of the Special Veterans ...
1. I chose to cover special veterans courts for this paper. This court was created back
in 2008 in Buffalo, New York. It was created by Judge Robert Russell in an effort
to help veterans who have broken the law due to the adverse psychological and
emotional effects that military service can have upon a service member. Some
veterans, after undergoing various combat situations, being cut off from family and
friends, and other hardships associated with being in the military, are not able to
properly assimilate back into civilian life, if at all. They may resort to drug use or
alcoholism to cope, and/or act out in other ways as well. In the various articles of
this kind of court I ve read, courts usually require that the veterans offense... Show

3. From what I ve read, this kind of court is highly successful. In the case of Judge
Robert Russell s original special veteran s court, his court saw (at the time of this
particular article) a 90% success rate without any recidivism. In Hennepin County,
Minnesota, their special veteran s court was found in a study of two years to have
lowered the amount of offenses committed of 83% of the participants six months
after being in the program, as compared to six months before.
One judge noted that working with fellow veterans is particularly helpful to those
going through this special court. Veterans Today found that these programs have very
high success rates, and some programs can have up to a 90% success rate.
4. On Kentucky.gov, it shows that there are two special veterans courts; the first
one in Jefferson County, and the second in Fayette County. I believe that in order
for these courts to continue to function all that they must do is follow the
precedent set by already established courts in the U.S., as on average they have a
very high success rate. One thing I found in common with the articles I read is that
it is important for veterans being put through these kinds of courts to be working
with fellow veterans, and so I think that this should be a big staple for the two
courts in Kentucky to do to help ensure the success of their programs. As one
veteran puts it, you can t talk to a civilian who s never experienced what you have as
Essay On My Favourite Birthday Gift
It was my seventh birthday and also one of the best days of my entire life. I had

they had given me for my birthday. When I heard a bark and turned around to see
my dad holding what would be my favorite birthday present that I ever received. It

Scarlet was a very playful and stubborn puppy. She loved to run and chase anything
that would move, including her tail and the neighbor s cat. Although, a very playful

was completely house trained in under a week and learned how to play fetch in two
weeks. Occasionally of course her playfulness turned our games of fetch into games
of me chasing her around the yard trying to get the tennis ball back.
It was also a great responsibility that my parents entrusted me to take care of. I had
to feed her, keep her groomed, and of course teach her the correct way to act. My

According to Acton (2013), if there are too few data points, the model will have
insufficient data to perform a robust analysis and the predictions will be inaccurate
and largely influenced by random factors. Supporting this notion, other research
contradicts the prediction that Annual Dinners held later in the week will generate
more money. Network for Good (2006) found that Mondays, Tuesdays, and
Wednesdays are the days when donors are most generous. This finding is supported
by Chaffey (2013), who suggests that Tuesdays are the best days for marketing
causes, and reinforced by the #GivingTuesday movement, a global day dedicated to
giving back, started in partnership between New York s 92 Street Y and the United
Nations Foundation (Giving Tuesday, 2014). Therefore, despite the current research
findings, other research indicates that planning events earlier in the week will lead to
greater fundraising success.
Research questions two and three found a strong positive correlation between the
total amount of financial gifts pledged and both the number of guests in attendance
and the number of donors. The number of donors likely increases as the number of
guests increases, possibly due to competitive or audience effects. Triplett (1989)
found that competition was sparked not only by the co action of other competitors,
but also by an audience effect,
Power Series Method For Solving Linear Differential
Equations
ABSTRACT In this work, we studied that Power Series Method is the standard
basic method for solving linear differential equations with variable coefficients. The
solutions usually take the form of power series; this explains the name Power series
method. We review some special second order ordinary differential equations. Power
series Methodis described at ordinary points as well as at singular points (which can
be removed called Frobenius Method) of differential equations. We present a few
examples on this method by solving special second order ordinary differential

1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The attempt to solve physical problems led gradually to Mathematical models
involving an equation in which a function and its derivatives play important role.
However, the theoretical development of this new branch of Mathematics Differential
Equations has its origin rooted in a small number of Mathematical problems. These
problems and their solutions led to an independent discipline with the solution of
such equations an end in itself (Sasser, 2005).
1.2STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The research work seeks to find solutions of second order ordinary differential
equations using the power series method.
1.3AIM AND OBJECTIVES
The aim and objectives of the study are to: Describe the power series method. Use it
to solve linear ordinary differential equations with
Electricity Generated By Hydropower Electricity
Hydroelectricity is electricity generated by hydropower, the electricity is created
by using the gravitational force from falling or flowing water. Throughout the
entire world it makes up 16% of the renewable energy used making it the most
widely used source of renewable energy. In 2010 there was 3427 terawatt hours and
with a power plant larger than 10 megawatts it costs 3 to 5 US cents per kilo watt
which also makes hydroelectricityone of the cheapest forms of energy.
Hydroelectricity is expected to increase 3.1% each year for the next 25 years
which eventually means we will be producing enough electricity to power over
1000 United States. Looking at the stats hydropower ranks first among all other
renewable energies and if we keep up and continuing to put in power plants
hydropower can continue to stay on top of all the other renewable energies. The
way hydropower works and operates so efficiently is because it uses falling water
or flowing water which is already happening naturally in the world. The plants
work by allowing water into a small area and then it flows down and pushes a
turbine which then charges a generator to create electricity and then flows out the
other side continuing on with the path of the river. The turbine spins and creates
electricity to be used. Which leads to the biggest hydro powered plants being in
dams or on large rivers to take advantage of the large body of water. There are many
different types of way the energy is created there is the

contest. Dempsey and Martins both fit the bill. If Dempsey produces another epic

Life Is Worth Living Essay
Would You Plug In?
What kind of life is worth living? Robert Nozick poses the question of whether it is
worth to live life the way it was planned for you or by having the power to pick and
choose the experiences you go through by plugging into the experience machine.
Before deciding to go into the machine, a person must think about what kind of life
is worth living. A life worth living is a life with as little suffering and hardship as
possible, where a person can be completely free to chase their dreams. So many
people look for a way to escape the pain that life brings and the experience machine
offers a way out. There are two main reasons to plug into the experience machine; a
person can escape the hardships of life and society s unrealistic expectations about
how to live life. Humans go through many hardships over their lifetime. They
experience love, loss, heartbreak, pain, work, happiness, sadness, and many more
things. People have to struggle through school to work their whole lives until they
die. These aspects of human life are used to mark where in the stages of life a person
is. To many, these stages define life and what it stands for, but they are not
necessary. A person doesn t have to go through loss to have a complete life. They
don t have to struggle to make ends meet because that s what life is supposed to be
like. they can sidetrack these moments if desired. A person can have a life filled
with happiness and no worry of having to get somewhere in life by plugging into
the experience machine. The experience machine has the capability of getting rid
of the hard things we go through. Instead of going through heartbreak, a person
can bypass that by programming the machine to only let them experience love.
Instead of working a grueling job that only pays minimum wage, a person can plug
into the experience machine to a life where they don t have to work to survive.
They can live a life full of happiness, instead of one filled with sadness and
hardships. Society places unrealistic expectations of human life. People are expected
to live their life a certain way and when they fall short of that, they are judged. One
problem is that many never get close to the expectations,
Essay on Sun Chief
The religion detailed and examined throughout Don Talayesva s Sun Chief can be
difficult to understand and near impossible to appreciate. At first glance to the
casual reader it can appear shallow and ridiculous; a religion created around the
wants and needs of the Hopi but not based on any empirical or even supposed sacred
evidence. When coupled with The Sacred Canopy however, the reader begins to
understand the simplistic beauty of their religionproviding necessary guidance and
support to the Hopitribe. The reader also is able to relate to Don s religion in terms of
the love one has for his or her own dogma and the importance it plays in an
individual s life.
It is important to understand that Don s religion was not his by ... Show more content

It is not fair for any religion to dismiss another as absurd, because of the inherent
differences in what different religions include or consider miracles , oracles , or
rituals . Opposing religions consider each other ridiculous equally and their own
dogma is revered as true equally. To Don Talayesva as a child, Christianitywas
nothing more than something white people talked about while he waited for their
free clothing or candy. This is soundly equivalent to the care and consideration non
Hopis give to the thought of dancing for rain. In terms of nomos, the Hopis religion
served just as well as any could have. At birth babies are born onto sacred sand.
When they need rain for crops, the Katcinas dance in the plaza. To live a healthy
life and bear many children, Hopi s have intercourse with the Salt Woman. These
rituals and traditions make sense to the Hopi and provide mental security. It
shields them from terror and imposes a meaningful order upon reality, as put in
The Sacred Canopy. The Hopi can use their religion to eschew helplessness and a
fear of being spiritually alone in the world. It provides them with answers and
makes them calm and happy. These qualities make their religion successful as
defined by The Sacred Canopy s requirement of nomization for a meaningful life.
From the perspective of a non Hopi, their religion would probably be viewed as a
convenient set of beliefs and practices thought up by a group of
Buying Behavior of Blog Shoppers
Buying behaviour that occurs in blogs can differ significantly from the buying
behaviour that occurs in other forms of social media. As stated before, blogs can
portray several different forms of marketing that appeal to the consumers. Written
from an unbiased point of view, consumers tend to put more weight into the opinion
of other consumers than they would in other forms of advertisement such as banner
ads or PR statements. The marketingefforts that can be found in blogscan have a huge
impact on a consumer and therefore on the buying process in itself. (Solomon 2011,
137 139.)
What about women s buying behavior in blogs? In order to find out what types of
factors in blogs affect the behaviour of women about buying situations, it is important
to consider both internal influencers and external influencers. The consumers are
unconsciously affected by both every time they make buying decisions, and it is
therefore vital that both are considered when studying the topic.
As shown below in the Figure 2.5 on the next page, the consumer buying process is
influenced by several different factors. The diagram is a modified version of an
image created by Smith and Rupp, portrays what kind of thought process occurs
when buying. The diagram was modified to portray the strategic buying process
from the view point of a young Spanish woman who is using a fashion blog as a
source of information. The original diagram, which considered the effect of social
media on a buyer, was
John F. Kennedy Not Only A Great President But A Naval
John F. Kennedy not only a great president but a naval hero to our country. He
stopped The Cuban Missile Crisis in which was almost a nuclear world war and he
is recognized as one of the best presidents ever. John F. Kennedy is one of the

JFK has had many achievements in his life and he was much more than a good
president. In my opinion JFK was a naval hero and one of Americas greatest
presidents.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was October 16th through the 28th in the year of 1962,
and it was one of the scariest situations that could have ended in a nuclear war.
Earlier that month John F. Kennedy send a plane to spy on them and see if they
were doing anything they were not supposed to and he saw that Cuba had nuclear
missiles set out and they could fire them at any given moment if they wanted to. John
F. Kennedy saw this and the next day he immediately went to talk to the leader of the
Soviet Union. The leader of the Soviet Union was named Nikita Khrushchev and it
was very hard for John F. Kennedy to make a deal with him so that he would put
his nuclear missiles away. The deal was that if John F. Kennedy would remove his
nuclear missiles from Turkey and Italy then The Soviet Union would have to remove
their nuclear missiles from Cuba. John F. Kennedy also had to make an agreement
that he would never invade Cuba again without direct provocation. This agreement
also set a

Diversity In America Essay
We may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we
are all human race Kofi Annan. This quote said by Kofi Annan explains perfectly
how not all people have to be of the same background or even the same culture but
everyone is still a human being so you can not treat them as any less. America is a
melting potbecause of all the different cultures in the US today. Also, the US is
working on rights for all by making it more convenient for people who do not speak
English to have the same rights. While some people believe diversity separates a
country, it can be argued that diversity creates unity because today the US is a
melting pot, and they are working on rights for all.
In the past, society created diversity, but in today s society it s starting to create
unity in several ways. In source one there is two main ways that show the US is a
melting pot. The title of source one is New US Citizens wave American Flags before
sworn in at naturalization ceremony. The title of the picture alone proves that the
new citizens coming into America are excited and accepted in society by ... Show

In source three, there are two ways that show the US working towards rights for
all. The quote Only when i was able to think of myself as an American, no longer
an alien in gringo society, could i seek the rights and opportunities necessary for
public individuality. from source three is just one way to show they are getting
rights. This statement shows that there is no set boundaries for new citizens unless
they make them for themselves. Also, the quote consider, for example, the bilingual
voter s ballot. In some American cities one can cast a ballot printed in several
languages. from source three is just another way to show they are getting rights. This
statement proves that the US is working on allowing all people even with language
barriers the right to
Core Activities Of An Office Administrator At Danlnia...
Introduction
The following report will look at four core activities of an Office Administrator at
Danlnia Furniture Ltd including; meetings management, information management,
Reception duties and website management It will explain the role of organising,
planning and co ordinating in each one of the core activities. The developments in
two working practices will be evaluated from the perspective of both an employer
and an employee. The report will then also go on to identify and describe four causes
of stress that are created through working. The report will then provide two possible
solutions for these issues.
Core Activities 1.Meetings Management
Meetings management involves a variety of different activities. Before a meeting
has begun the office administrator should make sure that he/she has booked a
room for the meeting and that it is in accessible location so that it allows access for
anyone who is disabled and it complies with all current government legislation. The
secretary should make sure that all the equipment is already set up in the room and
check it is in good working order. For example: a computer and a projector if there
are going to be presentations of any kind. There should also be sufficient refreshment
available. An agenda which contain: Apologies, minutes of the previous meeting,
matters arising, any other business and the date of the next meeting. This is sent to
all attendees of the meetings in advance so they know what is being discussed.*
Huskies Showcase Reflective Report
Presenting in the Huskies Showcase was a very new experience to me. I have
never had the experience to conduct research and present it in a setting like the
Huskies Showcase. I feel I learned a lot through the process and grew as a student.
I gained a great deal of useful skills relating to collecting research and presenting
what I learned to an audience. I will be able to apply these skills to future skills
and become a more successful student. When I first was first beginning to work on
this project, I was overwhelmed by the amount of work that was needed to
complete it. I was worried I would be unable to balance the workload from the
project with my other classes. I had no previous experience doing something like
this, so I wasn t sure what to expect. To combat the large workload, I planned on
evenly spacing the work out throughout the semester. I was able to stick with the
plan at first, but as the semester went on a slowly got more and more behind. As the
due date approached, I rescheduled the work I had left. I made a strong effort to
stick to this schedule so I wouldn t have to do all the work the night before the project
was due. Not putting everything off until the last night greatly reduced the amount of
stress that could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to beginning my research, I had a basic understanding of the topic, but I did
not know close to enough to write a ten page paper about it. This forced me to do
extensive research to make sure I would hit the ten page mark. I was able to
acquire a large amount of information on the topic through this research. This was
not only useful for completing the research paper; everyone should have an
understanding of the inequalities African Americans face. Because of this, I am
very glad I chose the topic I did. I was unaware of many of the issues I discovered
through my research. I will keep these issues in mind as I continue to become a more
active member in
Social Observation Of The Southlands Mall In Centennial
Social Observations I decided to go the Southlands Mall in Centennial, to observe
people interactions. I choose to head over to the mall around 11 am on Friday,
September 15th. This was a great time for me because my son was in school and I
knew I needed at least two hours where I could just sit and observe people without
any distractions. When I was observing, I was looking for norms of behavior and
American values. To Begin, let me give you a visual of the mall. The Southlands
mall is a large outdoor mall that s filled with shops, diners and entertainment. I
thought I would sit near Town Square which is in the center of the mall. I could
see majority of the store from here. There were a lot of mothers out watching their
children play in the water fountain and at the park. Norms are how values tell us to
behave (Conley, 2017, pg. 90). They are like rules or guideline to what kind of
behavior is acceptable. Norms can be informal or formal. Informal norms are
unspoken for example, as I observed my surroundings I saw children taking turns
going down the slide. I also saw families standing in line getting Pretzels. These are
norms that are not written down but we learn them when we are young. Informal
norms are viewed as what is right verses what is rude. Formal norms are written
down like laws.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I looked around I noticed all the expensive cars that were coming and going and
parked along the stores. Expensive cars can represent ones success. Another
example of this shown through the number of mothers that are out with their
children. They have the leisure of enjoying a sunny afternoon with their kids.
People seem to use material possessions for comfort or to compete with others. I
saw women wearing Coach and Michael Kors bags. People were walking around on
their IPhones, which we all know these items are not cheap. I also saw tons of
women leaving stores with lots

Performance Measurement Performance measurement is an essential part of the
company; it provides a stage for managers and supervisors, as well as, the
performance of its employees. It helps them determine whether or not employees are
meeting the company s expectations. Performance measurement methods differ
according to the work surroundings, such as, the company, and the occupation of the
employee. It can determine an employee s employment status, and his or her
compensation, as well as, their opportunity for advancement. Because of this
performance management should consist of methods that use fair and correct

For instance at a photo printing shop, the printer s accuracy is measured in the size
of defects to the total pictures printed. This measurement is an important measure of
performance; it symbolizes how well the product the project produced works. The
project team can produce a product on time and budget, however, if it is not accurate
it will not meet the performance constraint (voices yahoo, 2007). Volume The third
performance measurement is volume, which is measured by the total number quality
product that is dispensed to the client. For instance, a photo printing shop is
expected to produce a volume of 125 photos in three hours, the printer could break
down slowing production. The manager could decide to go into overtime to make
sure that the numbers of photos are delivered, and the measure of speed would not be
expected, but the volume measure would be successfully met. The three performance
measures speed, accuracy, and volume are important signs of a projects performance.
They show just how successful the project is, thus, making them similar, irrespective
of time and budget. They allow benchmarks to be set, which stands for the
performance level that project managers depend on for the project team to produce.
These three measurements are measurable, specific, and assignable, they are exact
indicators that can be estimated and anyone can be

  • 2. Controversial Hunting What goes through the minds of people when they think about trophy hunting? Hunting is the act of pursuing and killing live animals for food, recreation, or trade. Early human civilizations relied on hunting for subsistence. As humans and civilizations evolved, so did hunting. Hunting became a sport rather than a necessity. People who are for huntingclaim that it helps control wildlife populations, whereas people against it believe that trophy hunting will lead to the extinction of certain animals. This paper will examine viewpoint one, two, and my viewpoint on trophy hunting being banned or not. To begin with, viewpoint one believes trophy hunting serves no purpose and is contributing to the eradication of species. For starters, grizzly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Specifically, trophy hunting could harm the environment and the entire species of the animal killed. Firstly, grizzly bears help the environment and other animals in the rainforest. For example, David Suzuki talks about how grizzlies bring salmon, along with nutrients from the ocean in the salmon, into the rainforest. This leaves the carcass of the salmon for other animals and the nutrients in the salmon for the fertilization of the rainforest (Suzuki). Therefore, trophy hunting grizzlies harms more than just the one bear the hunter killed. Secondly, illegal markets caused a rise in hunting, leading to more animals being killed to be sold. For instance, Richard Emslie and Michael Knight report that pseudo hunters would get permits to hunt rhinos and sell their horns. This caused a temporary peak in hunting applications (Emslie). Therefore, the hunting of animals caused illegal markets to pop up, in which caused more people to hunt. Thirdly, some animals are already facing threats without hunters. To illustrate, Suzuki, talking about grizzly bears, says they already face threats from habitat loss, damage and fragmentation; cascading effects of salmon collapse and climate change; and death from poaching. Hence, hunting only furthers problems animals have. For all these reasons, trophy hunting is harming the environment and other animals, plus the ones they are

  • 4. Occurrences Of Natural Disaster Or Man-Made Disaster Final literature review Introduction Occurrences of natural disaster or man made disaster have increased this last decade thus there is a constant need to provide humanitarian support to population affected by such disasters. Means of communications are vital to manage rescues operation during down time. However, in worst case scenario most of the infrastructures are getting damaged. Therefore, it is essential to restore communications within the disaster zone. This literature review is divided in three main stages, which are the consequences of a natural disaster, the need of communication and the solutions available to provide communication to the population. Disaster consequences The Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED, 2009) defines a disaster as an unforeseen event that causes destruction and resulted in a high number of civilian casualties, that overwhelms local capacity and request international assistance. Alexander (2014) agrees An emergency is defined as an exceptional event that exceeds the capacity of normal resources and organization to cope with it . Impacts of disaster are usually measured by the cost of direct and indirect losses. What is meant by Indirect losses are losses of employment, temporary unemployed resulting from business disruption caused by building collapsing (National Research Council U.S, 1989) thus the impact can last for an indeterminate period of time (Alexander, 2014b) therefore the cost of Indirect losses caused by natural disasters are difficult to quantified. Whereas direct losses encompass physical destruction, casualties, communication loss, transportation, and emergency response. (National Research Council U.S, 1999). Munich Re (1989, cited in Hoeppe, 2016) states that cost of losses caused by natural disaster have extremely increased since 1950 mainly because of population growth and the complexity of infrastructures in modern societies. The professor Rahman defines the complex relationship between infrastructures as infrastructures interdependencies where each node is known as a Critical Infrastructures. According to Moteff and Parfomak (2004) a CI is a system that if disrupted can lead to serious issues on the wellbeing of society.

  • 6. United Nations Shortcomings The United Nations is one of the most well known international organizations in the world. It tries to serve the task of maintaining international order by promoting international collaboration throughout its 193 member states and various agencies. The United Nations facilitates order by the coordination of international security, international law, economic development, human rights, social progress, and trying to maintain world peace. Overall, the United Nationshas failed to deliver on its main objectives which has resulted in the organization having little to no power. The United Nations shortcomings are evidently shown through the United Nations Security Council s (UNSC) unsuccessful prevention of international conflicts, its organization s ignorance towards human rights crimes, and the little to no authoritative power that the organization possesses in resolving conflicts as a mediator. The United Nations most widely known purpose is to prevent conflicts within and between countries. However, the United Nations has failed to prevent a plethora of conflicts, resulting in catastrophic consequences. An ongoing conflict, The Somali Civil War began in 1991. In 1992, as the Somali Civil War crisis worsened, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) sanctioned the Unified Task Force (UNITAF) to initiate a safe and protective environment to allow humanitarian efforts to proceed. However, the UN s efforts completely failed, resulting in a crisis. The UN quickly
  • 7. Theories Of The Nazca Lines The Mysteries of the Nazca Lines The Nazca Lines discovered in 1939, by Paul Kosok, are gigantic drawings that cover the Nazca Desert in southern Peru ( The Nazca Lines , web). It is said that the Nazca people are the creators of these lines, but when the Nazca people and their culture vanished the Lines were the only things left behind. Today, many historians and archaeologists are left with this Desert riddle. There are many theories concerning the Nazca Linesand their origin, what they could possibly mean and who put them there. There are no exact answers but these theories and ideas have provided many possibilities that have brought historians closer to solving the mystery. Although theories of the NazcaDesert drawings include... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These theories are the ones that are supported by much evidence and provides a reasonable explanation to the mysterious meaning of the lines. In the Nazca Desert, water is a scarce resource, but necessary for their overall survival. The solution could have been performing these rituals to ask the Gods for rain. A video by UNESCO explaining some background of the Nazca Lines suggests, Experts believe the Nazca used to dance along the lines of the geoglyphs when they prayed for rain, ( Lines and Geoglyphs of Nazca and Pampas de Jumana (UNESCO/NHK) , web). The dancing of the natives could have been part of a ritual to plead for water. This was a very important part in their everyday lives because it was their way of communicating with the Gods and telling them what it is that they needed to be able to continue. Some of the geoglyphs drawn are the killer whale, spider, monkey, condor and hummingbird. All of these animals are linked to water and are important for the Nazca people. The theory of the lines being linked to water is the most probable that even in other theories like the astronomy ones can be brought back to having some thing to do with water. The ideas that Maria Reiche and Paul Kosok studied about an astronomical calendar can be refined to agricultural clock, as mentioned in Archaeology, The sun enters this region of the horizon at the time of year late October when water beings to run in the rivers and their underground canals. If builders of the Nazca Lines had intended to incorporate an orientation calendar into their complex maze of lineation, we would logically expect not the solstices or equinoxes to be prominent in the plan, but rather the most significant times in the agricultural year to be indicated, just as they are at Cuzco, (Aveni, 39). Eventually, it is revealed in some theories that water has a massive significance to the meaning and

  • 9. Change in Values and Perspectives in Streetcar Named... Adversity can present itself in a wide range of severities, and it can have drastic effects on an individual. A man is insensible to appreciate prosperity until he has gone through some kind of adversity. Hardships and adversity develop and shape a person s identity and also plays a big role in shaping one s personal values. John Locke, a famous philosopher, once said that Let us suppose the mind to be, white paper void of all characters, without any ideas. How comes it be furnished? To this I answer, in one word, from experience . The quote says that humans are born like clean slates and adversity plays a major role in shaping people. In the modern play A Streetcar Named Desire, the author, Tennessee Williams, suggests that individuals are blank slates and adversity plays a major factor in shaping their values and their perspective on things. This is shown through the characters of Blanche Dubois, Stella Kowalskiand Stanley Kowalski. Living on plantation in Laurel Mississippi, Blanche Dubois considers herself a southern Belle. Her life at Belle Reve does not fulfil her dreams that she once envisioned and instead she found herself assuming responsibilities of huge proportions. She was left to incur al financial debts, while having to pay for the costly funerals of her relatives. At last she was unable to pay her debts and she had to give in and lose her beloved land. In addition, she faces the adversity of lifelong guilt because of her making a cruel remark to her late

Symbolic Interactionism Theory Of Smoking Symbolic Interactionism Theory sees interactions and meanings as central to society, and assumes that meanings are not inherent, but are created through interactions (Chp. 1 Theory). I think that race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and age play a factor as to how people around them respond. Race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and age also affect the response of the person as well. Past could be sweet or bitter whatever we have spent directly and indirectly influences our present. It is also said that our present is determined by our past. How we spent our childhood, environment we have grown up, education we took, family background, nature of the family members and occupations of our parents. The main concern of my past influences is if we had our bad past life, how to overcome them and just take a good lesion to move forward in our life. Everyone must have gone with different situations in the past. We could have very interesting past lives as well; some of us might have spent the horrible due to certain tragedy we never want to remember that again. Whatever the past either it is sweet or bitter, past is already gone but the memory has left us with us frequently affecting our present. While the masses might see it as an economical opportunity or a chance for Brownsville to put itself in the map, environmentalists are against the construction of such facility. Past ideas of such innovative and beneficial gains have had disastrous results, which destroy the environment. Sharing one s thoughts on paper has always been part of the role of being a writer; it serves a purpose of writing a reflection of one s personal thoughts and opinions. From the Medieval era to the Renaissance era, Poland is remarked as a period of change. Poland was expanding as a country and many political events were occurring. During this span of time, Polish literature signifies various changes in its themes, beliefs and language all constituted with a purpose. The theme of life and death overpowers Polish literature written during these two eras. The piece that demonstrates a wide scope of his worldview is Laments. Jan Kochanowski expresses his despair and emotions after the loss of his child in the form of treny. Treny are an older style of writing that praise the life and accomplishments of those who passed, especially well known figures. Kochanowski s Laments can be distinguished from the typical treny for the sole reason that the subject is a child instead of a famous or intellectual individual. However, the main character in Laments is Kochanowski himself. He plays the role of a grieving father and author who struggles to find the value and trust in any philosophy, religion and life itself after his daughter s death disrupted his reality. In the article Why We Write About Grief, Oates explains that Grief is the most humane of emotions but it is a one sided emotion; it is not reciprocated. This is exactly what makes Laments credible for the Kochanowski s worldview through death. He experienced it himself as a parent; one cannot simply understand how it feels to lose a child. It is not a typical telling of a story about death; it is the dark emotions of a mourning father. Throughout the Laments, Kochanowski intertwines the theme of searching ways to relieve pain and his bitter reflection on death. Specifically, he expresses a rebellion against death. From
  • 17. My Values In My Life When life seems to be taking a turn for the worst it is easy to see how many people and things that mean the most to us. It can get rough, but it is what we make out of the situation that helps us move forward and keep us in line for the next few hard times we have. When I look back at how I managed my stress this last semester I see that this relaxation class helped me through some hard times. On a normal day to day bases I spend most of my time where I place the most value in my life. I spend lots of time on the farm and that is where my animals and my family is so it is apparent that I like to be there. Also my faith means a lot to me and that is why I try to be as kind and compassionate to others so that people will know the real me. When times get hard, as they did in the last week, because one of my classmates from high school committed suicide, it put lots of stress on me going into the week before finals. I learned that I need to stay true to my values. Some of the values that are keeping me strong are my core values faith, family, nature, and exercise. By keeping these values close I can remember to stay strong in my times of need, even when things get hard. I believe when something bad happens it always has to be at the most stressful and vulnerable time in my life. Then it seems like I just keep going into a deeper hole, that I am digging for myself. My stress right now is coming from past anxiety and future stress. When something tragic comes up it normally

Mirrored Path To Empathy The Mirrored Path to Empathy The most frequently taught description of empathy in today s college textbooks defines it as emotional reactions that are focused on, or oriented toward, other people and include feelings of compassion, sympathy, and concern (Baron Branscombe, 2012). Furthermore, students are also learning that there may be a societal decline in empathythat is occurring among college students at a small but somewhat significant level. Unfortunately, there are currently no empirical answers for this decline. Empathy is an enigma that science has longed to understand and explain since Theodor Lipps and Edward Tichener named the earliest known concept of imitation and empathy, Einfuhlung, in the early 1900s (Gerdes, Lietz,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pier Ferrari asserts that existing evidence supports empathy as a combination of both an innate, visceral response, driven by the mirror neuron system and a higher, multidimensional cognitive process. In his discussion of available literature, entitled The Neuroscience of Social Relations, Ferrari describes empathy as a phenomenon where biology, emotion and cognition work simultaneously to produce empathy, also suggesting that mimicry is the core element of this so called phenomenon (2014). Ferrari rendered the neurological basis of empathy in perhaps the most simplistic terms, by stating that mirror neurons found in the pre motor and parietal cortices fire when behavior is both observed and performed, supporting the theory that mirror neurons make empathy a biological and visceral response. He noted that adjacent areas of the brain related to emotion are also activated, which may mean that they are also capable of mirroring. He then points to the ability of humans to cognitively evaluate a situation and make decisions without completely succumbing to the vicarious feelings of the other individual, allowing the observing person to feel empathy with a level of detachment that facilitates decisions for self preservation and

However, Sir Guy himself as well as the Sheriff see Robin as a nasty outlaw who always steals from them. Contradictory to what Sir Guy believes, Robin Hood is a hero. Only a hero would be brave enough to steal from people who have the power to execute him so peasants could have enough food and money to survive. Another heroic trait about Robin Hood is his generosity, shown in Scene 5 when he selflessly distributed food to the villagers who couldn t afford it. Robin

How western cultures view the body and how the body is treated (our body and others) are different from how non western cultures view and treat bodies. We can see the differences in the western and non western bodies in such works as Anne Fadiman s account of a Hmong child in America and in articles like Genital Surgeries: Gendering Bodies. Women find that natural female genitals are unclean and ugly and the surgeries create a more pleasing, smooth, and feminine genital area (page 95 Genital Surgeries) For many women practicing genital surgery it is a form of cosmetic surgery. It has the same purpose (to make the body look appealing) and some of the same risks (excessive bleeding and tearing) as many cosmetic surgeries used in western cultures. Although many western cultures denounce these practices as being barbaric and unfair these western cultures actually practice genital surgery on children. For example, many baby boys in the United States are circumcised at birth for both aesthetic reasons and for health concerns. Children born with both male and female genitalia are seen as medical emergencies and surgeries to correct this anomaly are done as soon as possible. The western and non western view of the body is very different. As we infer from comparing the western view of the body to the Hmong view of the body there are many ways to view the body than the one we were brought up to believe. However, we can also see from western metaphors and Hmong metaphors that a sick body is recognized by most people as being sick. We are also able to see with genital surgery that although society standards are different for every culture each culture uses surgery as a way to enhance the body and make it more pleasing to look at. Both psychology and graphic design are two widely complex subjects that are almost nearly impossible to get a straight answer on how do graphic designers use psychologyin their designs? To understand psychology and graphic design one has to look into the history of both, separate and together. Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and its function. The study of psychology is a very wide and diverse field as human behavior is varied and unpredictable. Unlike physics or chemistry, there is no set in stone answers and or complete reasonings behind them. The areas of psychology are divided into two groups, basic and applied. Applied areas make use of the knowledge, that is gained in the basic area, to better the human situation. The psychology of graphic design falls under the basic area due to the emotion, consciousness, motivation, and the learning aspect of design. A turning point can be described as a life changing event that can have a negative or positive outcome on a person. In the autobiography, I Never Had It Made , by Jackie Robinson, the memoir, Warriors Don t Cry , By Melba Pattillo Beals, and the article, The Father of Chinese Aviation by Rebecca Maksel each of the individuals faced turning points. Jackie Robinson, Melba Pattillo Beals, and Feng Ru all faced life changing experiences that changed both their lives and their countries. 2. Jackie Robinson s life changed when he became the first black man to play in the world series and Major League Baseball (MLB) during a time of segregation in America. These life changing events challenged him because he had to face racially tense crowds and endured threats from teammates, opponents, and bigoted fans. For example in paragraph three, the text states, Some of my own teammates refused to accept me because I was black. This quote explains a negative portraying event that comes upon Jackie Robinson. Also in paragraph three the text states, There were threats against me and my family and even out and out attempts and physical harm to me. This explains how Jackie felt uneasy about how the whites were trying to put Jackie down. Despite the racism he faced, Robinson learned to have pride in his accomplishments and appreciate the courage, support, and love shown by his supporters. For example, in paragraph eleven, the text states, I don t think I ll ever forget that small, shrill voice of a tiny white kid, in the midst of a racially tense atmosphere during an early game in a Dixie town, cried out, Attaboy, Jackie. This explains how because of one his supporters was cheering him on he felt he had to succeed even if most people wouldn t accept him. Jackie s challenges made him a popular name to remember in the Major Leagues today. 3. Melba Pattillo Beals life changed when she integrated an all white high school. The dark gloomth setting, the larger than life characters, and the supernaturally centered plot lines all make these books Gothic novels, but how would one characterize the narrators? His analyses concluded that the number of imminent relatives when comparing first degree relatives to second degree and so forth, had an inverse relationship: the more distant the relative of an imminent individual, the less likely they were themselves to be imminent; Galton perceived this as evidence for heritability of intelligence. This research has limitations however, including the use of retrospective data and the difficulty in distinguishing nature and nurture. Research questions two and three found a strong positive correlation between the total amount of financial gifts pledged and both the number of guests in attendance and the number of donors. The number of donors likely increases as the number of guests increases, possibly due to competitive or audience effects. Triplett (1989) found that competition was sparked not only by the co action of other competitors, but also by an audience effect,

Power Series Method For Solving Linear Differential Equations ABSTRACT In this work, we studied that Power Series Method is the standard basic method for solving linear differential equations with variable coefficients. The solutions usually take the form of power series; this explains the name Power series method. We review some special second order ordinary differential equations. Power series Methodis described at ordinary points as well as at singular points (which can be removed called Frobenius Method) of differential equations. We present a few examples on this method by solving special second order ordinary differential equations. Key words ; Power series, differential equations, Frobenius Method, Lengendre polynomials 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY The attempt to solve physical problems led gradually to Mathematical models involving an equation in which a function and its derivatives play important role. However, the theoretical development of this new branch of Mathematics Differential Equations has its origin rooted in a small number of Mathematical problems. These problems and their solutions led to an independent discipline with the solution of such equations an end in itself (Sasser, 2005). 1.2STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The research work seeks to find solutions of second order ordinary differential equations using the power series method. 1.3AIM AND OBJECTIVES The aim and objectives of the study are to: Describe the power series method. Use it to solve linear ordinary differential equations with

Electricity Generated By Hydropower Electricity Hydroelectricity is electricity generated by hydropower, the electricity is created by using the gravitational force from falling or flowing water. Throughout the entire world it makes up 16% of the renewable energy used making it the most widely used source of renewable energy. In 2010 there was 3427 terawatt hours and with a power plant larger than 10 megawatts it costs 3 to 5 US cents per kilo watt which also makes hydroelectricityone of the cheapest forms of energy. Hydroelectricity is expected to increase 3.1% each year for the next 25 years which eventually means we will be producing enough electricity to power over 1000 United States. Looking at the stats hydropower ranks first among all other renewable energies and if we keep up and continuing to put in power plants hydropower can continue to stay on top of all the other renewable energies. The way hydropower works and operates so efficiently is because it uses falling water or flowing water which is already happening naturally in the world. The plants work by allowing water into a small area and then it flows down and pushes a turbine which then charges a generator to create electricity and then flows out the other side continuing on with the path of the river. The turbine spins and creates electricity to be used. Which leads to the biggest hydro powered plants being in dams or on large rivers to take advantage of the large body of water. There are many different types of way the energy is created there is the

  • 40. Life Is Worth Living Essay Would You Plug In? What kind of life is worth living? Robert Nozick poses the question of whether it is worth to live life the way it was planned for you or by having the power to pick and choose the experiences you go through by plugging into the experience machine. Before deciding to go into the machine, a person must think about what kind of life is worth living. A life worth living is a life with as little suffering and hardship as possible, where a person can be completely free to chase their dreams. So many people look for a way to escape the pain that life brings and the experience machine offers a way out. There are two main reasons to plug into the experience machine; a person can escape the hardships of life and society s unrealistic expectations about how to live life. Humans go through many hardships over their lifetime. They experience love, loss, heartbreak, pain, work, happiness, sadness, and many more things. People have to struggle through school to work their whole lives until they die. These aspects of human life are used to mark where in the stages of life a person is. To many, these stages define life and what it stands for, but they are not necessary. A person doesn t have to go through loss to have a complete life. They don t have to struggle to make ends meet because that s what life is supposed to be like. they can sidetrack these moments if desired. A person can have a life filled with happiness and no worry of having to get somewhere in life by plugging into the experience machine. The experience machine has the capability of getting rid of the hard things we go through. Instead of going through heartbreak, a person can bypass that by programming the machine to only let them experience love. Instead of working a grueling job that only pays minimum wage, a person can plug into the experience machine to a life where they don t have to work to survive. They can live a life full of happiness, instead of one filled with sadness and hardships. Society places unrealistic expectations of human life. People are expected to live their life a certain way and when they fall short of that, they are judged. One problem is that many never get close to the expectations,

To Don Talayesva as a child, Christianitywas nothing more than something white people talked about while he waited for their free clothing or candy. This is soundly equivalent to the care and consideration non Hopis give to the thought of dancing for rain. In terms of nomos, the Hopis religion served just as well as any could have. The Hopi can use their religion to eschew helplessness and a fear of being spiritually alone in the world. It provides them with answers and makes them calm and happy. These qualities make their religion successful as defined by The Sacred Canopy s requirement of nomization for a meaningful life. From the perspective of a non Hopi, their religion would probably be viewed as a convenient set of beliefs and practices thought up by a group of

As stated before, blogs can portray several different forms of marketing that appeal to the consumers. Written from an unbiased point of view, consumers tend to put more weight into the opinion of other consumers than they would in other forms of advertisement such as banner ads or PR statements. The marketingefforts that can be found in blogscan have a huge impact on a consumer and therefore on the buying process in itself. (Solomon 2011, 137 139.) What about women s buying behavior in blogs? In order to find out what types of factors in blogs affect the behaviour of women about buying situations, it is important to consider both internal influencers and external influencers. The consumers are unconsciously affected by both every time they make buying decisions, and it is therefore vital that both are considered when studying the topic. As shown below in the Figure 2.5 on the next page, the consumer buying process is influenced by several different factors. The diagram is a modified version of an image created by Smith and Rupp, portrays what kind of thought process occurs when buying. The diagram was modified to portray the strategic buying process from the view point of a young Spanish woman who is using a fashion blog as a source of information. I choose to head over to the mall around 11 am on Friday, September 15th. This was a great time for me because my son was in school and I knew I needed at least two hours where I could just sit and observe people without any distractions. When I was observing, I was looking for norms of behavior and American values. To Begin, let me give you a visual of the mall. The Southlands mall is a large outdoor mall that s filled with shops, diners and entertainment. I thought I would sit near Town Square which is in the center of the mall. I could see majority of the store from here. There were a lot of mothers out watching their children play in the water fountain and at the park. Norms are how values tell us to behave (Conley, 2017, pg. 90). They are like rules or guideline to what kind of behavior is acceptable. Norms can be informal or formal. Informal norms are unspoken for example, as I observed my surroundings I saw children taking turns going down the slide. I also saw families standing in line getting Pretzels. Performance measurement methods differ according to the work surroundings, such as, the company, and the occupation of the employee. For instance at a photo printing shop, the printer s accuracy is measured in the size of defects to the total pictures printed. This measurement is an important measure of performance; it symbolizes how well the product the project produced works. The project team can produce a product on time and budget, however, if it is not accurate it will not meet the performance constraint (voices yahoo, 2007). Volume The third performance measurement is volume, which is measured by the total number quality product that is dispensed to the client. For instance, a photo printing shop is expected to produce a volume of 125 photos in three hours, the printer could break down slowing production. The manager could decide to go into overtime to make sure that the numbers of photos are delivered, and the measure of speed would not be expected, but the volume measure would be successfully met. The three performance measures speed, accuracy, and volume are important signs of a projects performance. They show just how successful the project is, thus, making them similar, irrespective of time and budget. They allow benchmarks to be set, which stands for the performance level that project managers depend on for the project team to produce. These three measurements are measurable, specific, and assignable, they are exact indicators that can be estimated and anyone can be
