Centre Name and Number:
York College 48357
Student Name and Unique Learner Number:
Jude Turner 398950
Project proposal title and date:
Queer Forts 02/03/22
Main area of activity:
Photography,design,art
Rationale:
Throughout past 2 years I have learnt how to use premier to make a video more exiting than just cutting
togethervideo. I have also learnt how to do interviews for print and video so I can make it the most
entertaining and how to get answers that say the questions in them to make it seem like a continuous speech.
I also have knowledge of how to use photoshop to edit photos in a range of different ways. I have some
knowledge in graphic design in using photoshop and InDesign so I think I would have a fair amount of
knowledge top make my fmp really good.
Project Concept: I will be making a magazine that shows of queer creators and their art and how they
choose to express themselves. I will try and make it multimedia by making edits and using qr codes to be put
on the pages.I will have a mixture of me writing interviews and writing pieces but also have otherpeople
contribute to it like more established magazines. I would like for it to be part handwritten and also part
computer text to make it feel more personal. I would like to make the zine as interactive as possible and not
just paper based this could be like the outside cover being fabric or 3d collages like plant collection. The
research I need to get would be finding queer people who are in certain scenes outside ofpeople that I
already know, also looking for similar magazines, zines, blogs, videos that I could get inspiration from for
my FMP. I think that doing audience research on what people in my age group like watch, read, listen to and
the different genres of them to see if I can find queerpeople in that area of focus, also finding out different
layouts that I could do so it doesn’t look similar to any other magazines
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
Using a production diary that goes in depth each week to see how I have progressed from the start of the
project to the end of the project. Final self evaluation to see how the actual final project turns out as a whole-
not the progress. The improvement of my skills that I have at the moment to see if they’ve gotten betterthan
my last zine that I made. I would also do peer evaluation both from people who are professionalat print,
queer people and people who aren’t in either to get a true evaluation.
