Bangladesh is constructing flyover bridges to address the growing traffic problems in its largest cities. Flyover bridges carry one road over another, reducing congestion by separating traffic flows. Several flyovers have already been built in Dhaka, including the Mohakhali Flyover which is 1.12 km long. More flyovers are planned as the population grows and traffic gets worse. Flyovers help increase road capacity and transportation speeds while avoiding traffic jams and accidents at railway crossings. However, they require significant resources to construct and can damage infrastructure as well as increase noise, air pollution, and accidents in surrounding areas.

It is a bridge that carries one road or railway

between the two.

4. Background of Fly Over Bridge in
Bangladesh:
Bangladesh is fast becoming one of the largest cities in the world.
With 13 million people it is also one of the most traffic congested. By
2020, the megacity's population is expected to rise to 22 - 25 million.
Traffic and public transport conditions in this country have seriously
deteriorated, characterized by daily traffic jams, traffic congestion,
long delays and high incidence of road accidents. On November 4,

flyover. The second flyover in Bangladesh at Khilgaon was

13. As a transport improvement, flyover is an advance tool
which involves high technology and lots of resources. As
being a superstructure, it has many prerequisite to
function effectively such as extra land in the intersection,
available by-pass roads etc. At present government have
plans to construct more flyovers at the congested
intersections. Flyover requires huge money but only
traffic discipline with simple planning technique can
better reveal with the critical traffic problems.
