1. Julianna Hansen discusses using ICT such as social media, video conferencing, and learning management systems in career guidance and distant learning at Fjarnám in the Faroe Islands. 2. Research shows that social media allows CGCs to deliver information, communicate one-to-one, facilitate interactive workspaces and spark paradigm changes. However, CGCs must develop ICT competencies and address ethical issues. 3. At Fjarnám, ICT enhances access to guidance and is cost-effective, but face-to-face guidance remains important as career counseling is new in the Faroe Islands.

3. ICT in Career Guidance at Fjarnám
• The goal is to provide Lifelong Guidance – as
described by ELGPN:
“The European Lifelong Guidance Policy
Network, ELGPN was established in 2007, with
the aim of assisting its member-countries and
the European Commission in developing
European co-operation on lifelong guidance in
both the education and the employment
sectors”
• These guidelines have been translated,
adapted to Faroese circumstances and handed
to Faroese authorities in May, 2017.
