Introduce yourself to your learners.
Use the mother tongue to welcome them and a quick idea about the language they are going to learn (
The first contact with the learners must be with their mother tongue, in order to decrease the stress of
the first session ( just for five minutes not more) and make them believe they can learn this foreign
language since they see their teacher who from their own country and may be from their own district
where they live who learn this language and now he or she can teach it . It's the only occasion that the
teacher uses their mother tongue and it must not become a habit;
The teacher after knowing well his or her learners he or she can plan according to their needs and uses
the appropriate learning style that goes with his or her learners' interests
Set information card for each one of your learners ( in Arabic) to help learn well your learners in order to
plan your lessons according to their needs, likes and interests
Organize their school things
Shift to English interaction where you introduce yourself then invite them one by one to introduce
themselves...
Example : 1) Teacher stands in middle of the board and with gestures invites the learners to look at him or her
then
Teacher: Hello , I am Mr/ Mr/Miss /Mrs .................
The learners look at the teacher and repeat her or his name
2) Teacher invites the learner to introduce themselves :
Pupil : Hello, I am Ali / Karima .......
3) Teacher invites the learner to interact with her :
Teacher : Hello , I am Mr/ Mrs/ Miss..................
Pupil 1: Hello, Mr /Miss/ Mrs . I am Ali / Karima ....
The teacher has to be patient and invites ALL the learners to repeat and introduce themselves .
They are just ideas that I personally performed in my first meeting with my MS1 learners . You can do
better

  • 1. Introduce yourself to your learners. Use the mother tongue to welcome them and a quick idea about the language they are going to learn ( The first contact with the learners must be with their mother tongue, in order to decrease the stress of the first session ( just for five minutes not more) and make them believe they can learn this foreign language since they see their teacher who from their own country and may be from their own district where they live who learn this language and now he or she can teach it . It's the only occasion that the teacher uses their mother tongue and it must not become a habit; The teacher after knowing well his or her learners he or she can plan according to their needs and uses the appropriate learning style that goes with his or her learners' interests Set information card for each one of your learners ( in Arabic) to help learn well your learners in order to plan your lessons according to their needs, likes and interests Organize their school things Shift to English interaction where you introduce yourself then invite them one by one to introduce themselves... Example : 1) Teacher stands in middle of the board and with gestures invites the learners to look at him or her then Teacher: Hello , I am Mr/ Mr/Miss /Mrs ................. The learners look at the teacher and repeat her or his name 2) Teacher invites the learner to introduce themselves : Pupil : Hello, I am Ali / Karima ....... 3) Teacher invites the learner to interact with her : Teacher : Hello , I am Mr/ Mrs/ Miss.................. Pupil 1: Hello, Mr /Miss/ Mrs . I am Ali / Karima .... The teacher has to be patient and invites ALL the learners to repeat and introduce themselves .
