Contents Overview
• Aim of fire safety Design
• Classes of Fire
• Structural, Electrical and Architectural design principles.
• Basic Fire Safety Principles.
Design Principles for Fire Safety:
• Architectural Design Principles
• Structural Design principles
• Electrical Design principles
Architectural Principles:
• external open space.
• internal open space
• Enough space for fire fighting vehicles.
• Enough Doors, windows for proper ventilation.
• Rapid Exit Gates.
• Safe and easy access to exit gates.
• Sufficient Rooms height and area .
• Good Quality fire retardant materials.
• Minimum flammable or combustible material usage.
Structural Design Principles:
• protect all steel members to 120 minutes standard for a limiting temperature of X°C such as
using coated steel bars
• No cracks.
• Enough steel cover
• Extra steel bars for fire safety purpose
Failure at x°C
Electrical Design Principles:
• Electrical wiring should enclosed in heavy gauge metal conduits.
• Cable while passing to another floor should be sealed off effectively.
• Master control switch for each floor.
• Good quality cable, switches and al electrical appliances.
• All equipment should be earthed properly.
• Appropriate fire detection, smoke and heat detection should be designed
• Individual power room.
• Main switch
• Maintenance of Electrical system.
• Limited use of temporary Wiring.
Thank you
