1. I will be discussing enigma, editing, sound and the target
audience.

2.  One part of the plot which is left unanswered through out the trailer is why the
man has an interest in finishing the game. We know that this is being done as
he chooses a little girl which is seen below to play the game as she is seen being
trained for. The question we are left with is what is the purpose and why is the
man doing this.
 One of the elements we have to guess while watching this film is where did the
little girl come from. The first shot is of the little girl in and investigation room,
however, we are left to wonder about her background. This leaves the audience
wanting to watch the film as we want to learn more about the little girl who
beats the four boys shown in the trailer and how she did it.

3.  One of the common editing transitions used in this trailer to create action, drama and suspense
is quick cuts which show us different angles of the same situation such as when the game starts
and the boys are hunting.
 Shot reverse shot is used more than once in this trailer for example, at the start when a calm
conversation is taking place in the investigation room which contrasts the second shot reverse
shot which is what she was trained for as she is having a conversation with one of the boys. This
is an effective editing technique as we get to see what is being said and how each character is
reacting to what is being said.
 The key character which is Abigail Breslin is highlighted through out the film by a bright light
shining on her in different scenes as seen below this maker her blonde her stand out which is an
aspect needed to be chosen to play the game. This also demonstrated her importance as she is
standing out to the rest of the characters.

4.  The trailer is filled with diegetic and non diegetic sound. In this case there are many voice
overs over scenes which illustrates the story as well as motivated the characters for example
when Abigail is being hunted a voice over says ‘there's not one person more powerful than
the other’ this changes the mood in the trailer and she begins to fight back and seems to gain
power and confidence.
 The person who does the voice over is the man who has trained Abigail for this task. He
gives a positive impression as we also see short scenes of him and Abigail together which
shows that he is interested and cares for her as a daughter.
 The overall, music in this trailer is slow and relaxed which reflects the setting and time in
which the film is set. We also see most of the trailer in a small diner which reflects the music
as the music becomes softer when we see other people. The music become faster when they
are in the woods which shows us that they are hunting and ready to kill.

5.  The target audience for this film are teenagers and young adults which
can clearly be seen by the actors in the film. This is because they all range
from the ages of 17 – 19.
 In addition, the film has a certification of 15 and over which means
teenagers are most likely to watch the film.
 In terms of gender, females may be attracted to this type of films as it
demonstrated that with determination and resilience anyone is able to
win a fight even against 4 males.
