1. TRAILER
COMPARISON
I will be comparing our horror trailer to a real
product called ‘Carrie’.They are both horror trailer
and are targeting teenagers and young adults.
2. TITLES
Both trailers have similar fonts, we chose this font for our titles because it was
plain and professional and portrayed a serious tone which is what we wanted
to get across.
In terms of colour as seen above we added a shadow of red so that it stand
out against the moving background. In addition, the red can later be linked to
blood and death which is shown further on in the trailer.

3. EDITING
In the trailer of Carrie scenes are faded to demonstrate a passing of
time.
This is similar to our trailer as we have also incorporated this effect to
demonstrate the same thing.
We have used artificial lighting in most of our trailer as we filmed at
night meaning that there was no sunlight coming into the house. This
gives the trailer a sense of realism as it reflects a real party.
Most of our trailer is made of quick cuts that give away bits of
information such as the close up of feet entering the party which is
split in-between party scenes, this adds tension as the scenes become
concerning. In contrast, Carrie incorporates long scenes with dialogue
through out the trailer.
4. CHARACTERS
Both of the trailers introduce characters in the same order, for example at the
beginning of the trailer both the mother and the child is shown. In our trailer they
are shown together unpacking food supplies which informs the audience that
they are new in town. However, in Carrie they are in a car outside of school.
Similarly, in both trailer the protagonist seems isolated in school by their peers.
In our trailer Chase is new and has been labelled as weird which is conveyed by
students around him laughing when receiving an invite to a get together he is
hosting.
Carrie is also portrayed as an outsider in her school environment. She does not fit
in with the other characters.
5. Themes
Throughout our three products the themes of blood, death and
vulnerability are illustrated, however, in our trailer the themes of
alienation is also explored by our protagonist being placed in a new
environment. This can be a scary situation for most teens as it
means that you have to start over and find your place. This aspect is
similar to the movie Carrie as she is clearly being bullied in school for
being different. However, they embarrass her which is an aspect we
do not show in our trailer.
This POV shot below shows the audience that it is a new
environment as the protagonist seems to be lost as they are looking
around searching for help.
6. SHOTS
This establishing shot is used at the start of both trailers to show where
the plot is based. Most of our events happen at the house seen below
which is isolated and alone meaning that there is no call for help is
needed.
Both trailers show the increased use of mobile
phones and how it can be used for both negative
aspects such as bullying and positive aspects
such as connective teenagers together.
7. Ending shot
Main image
The image seen on the left
is the unknown figure which
has been the focus in both
our magazine and poster.
In our trailer, he can be seen
moving towards a victim
which is hiding. Questions
can arise from this shot as it
creates suspense and
tension between the
audience members on who
has survived.
8. CONCLUSION
In my opinion I believe that our trailer does
contribute to the effectiveness of our promotional
package as it demonstrates the figure which is
incorporated in all of our products.
In addition, the colour red in our magazine and
poster can be linked to the font and deaths that are
caused in the trailer.
