I was born in Inglewood, CA, the son of two immigrant parents. Growing up, I
always knew the importance of education; it was ingrained in me by my mother
and father. They grew up in Mexico where they both loved school until their

Salmonella is a gram negative bacterium present in contaminated food or water.
Typhoid fever is a systemic infection caused by the serotype Salmonella typhi and can
be fatal without proper intervention. Instances of resistant typhoid are high in less
developed countries. Resistance occurs when genetic mutations prevent antibiotic
mechanisms of action, making current antibiotics less effective. The purpose of this
drug screen was to target oncological drugs and diversity library compounds to
identify novel antibiotic substances. To perform the initial drug screen, we exposed
Salmonellatyphimurium to various compounds and chemotherapeutic drugs. The
positive and negative controls were ampicillin and Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO),
respectively. We used spectrophotometry to measure the growth of salmonella in
the plate. Hits were identified as compounds with an absorbance below 2 standard
deviations of the mean DMSO value, meaning that hits would have an absorbance
below 0.065. We identified that the FDA approved drug capecitabine had an
average absorbance of 0.035. To perform a dosing series, capecitabine was diluted
in a 1:2 ratio, making 13 dilutions total. The dosing series revealed that capecitabine
is most effective at doses lower than 6.25 ОјM. Through this process, we determined
that the oncological drug Capecitabine (Xeloda) has dose dependent antibiotic

causes confusion, especially when considering its unnecessary information involving
the background of the performance art as well as explaining her frustrations with

Andy Warhol (1928 1987), was born Andrew Warhola to Slovak immigrants. He

schools have had to cut many different programs and areas of study because it is

the students. This is causing the quality of students education to go down, and they
aren t receiving all of the benefits that they should be. The education that a student
receives starting in elementary school and all the way up into high schools sets
them up for how they will do in college, and that will determine how they are going

Schools also cut sports, extra circular activities, and other events that make school
fun for the students. I want to see how they deal with these cuts but yet still give
the students the proper education. Overall, I just want to find out how schools
make up for the classes that are taken out of the schools, and what they think is the
best way to deal with this situation. My search had its good and bad points, but over
all it was pretty successful and took me about two weeks to complete. I found out a
lot of things that I didn t know, but some of the things were obvious from attending a
public high school. At some points it was difficult to find information to back up

Gonadal Dysgenesis Gonadal Dysgenesis, also known as turner syndrome, is a rare
medical disorder that affects 1 in every 2,500 girls (kidshealth). It is a chromosomal
that occurs when one of the two X chromosomes found in females are missing or is
incomplete. This condition only affects females. Although researches don t know
exactly what cause turner syndrome, they do know that it s a problem with a female
chromosome. Females who are born with Tuner Syndrome are short in height and
effects their sexual development and the ability to have children. Other features of
this condition that can vary among women who have turner syndrome include:
extra skin on the neck, heart defects, puffiness or swelling on the hands and feet,
and/or kidney failure. Turner Syndrome was discovered by Henry H. Turner, MD,
a pioneer endocrinologist. He first discovered the syndrome in 1938 when he wrote
is manuscript describing the syndrome that has his name. Henry Turner described
his initial observations of the Turner syndrome in an interview with R. Palmer
Howard, MD and he said he noticed a pattern of non maturing girls who were shorter
than regular girls and had short necks, and a low hair line. Turner continued to follow
the seven patients, and he later discovers that they responded to an estrogen therapy,
in which helped the teenagers develop breasts, and increase the size of their uterus.

A Reflection Of A Experience For A Second Observation...
For my second observation experience, I went to the MARC. I had the opportunity
to observe a DPT3 student from UTHSCSA who was on his 3rd rotation. The MARC
has a system setup for how they handle each patient, whether it be an initial
evaluation or a regular treatment session. Patients first check in and then are sent to
the waiting room. The technician checks each patients vital signs prior to exercise. I
think this is such an important step that so many clinics don t do. By checking
vitals prior to exercise, you are able to ensure their safety and be the first line of
defense if they are having any underlying heart issues such as unmonitored high
blood pressure. If it is an initial evaluation for the patient, then they will be greeted
by the treating physical therapist and evaluated for treatment. I liked the way they
did this at the MARC but from what I understood the patients are evaluated out in
the gym area with no privacy. I believe with many diagnoses it would be beneficial
for the MARC to have rooms to make the evaluation process more private. If the
patient is presenting to the clinic for a regular treatment session, then the therapist
will either greet them to begin with manual therapyor the technician will start them
on their prescribed exercises. During my experience, the clinic was not very busy
therefore, I only had the opportunity to observe one patient being treated. The patient
was a retired male in his fifties returning for a treatment session. The DPT3 student
explained the pt was diagnosed with tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis most likely
due to his follow through swing when playing golf. The patient stated he had played
in a golf tournament since his last treatment but utilized a homemade brace to help
with discomfort. The patient explained he was able to finish the tournament but was
experiencing a great amount of pain during and after. The therapist then asked the pt
what his level of pain was before starting treatment, then preceded to preform
mobilizations including: radial ulnar anterior and posterior glides both proximally

Stryker Alan Wood s life was cut short this last week. He was born 11 26 02 and
died on 9 5 17. He was a very kind and caring young man who loved the outdoors.
Unfortunately at just the age of 14 his love for the outdoors had turned into his
worst nightmare. Due to a monkey attack during a jungle exploration near the Nile
River we were unable to carry out an autopsy. It is believed he was attacked and
murdered by monkeys but can t confirm our theory. Hiking and going on adventures
intrigued him very much. He had so much loveand passion for sports and based his
life around them. He grew up an athlete and loved being part of a team and the rush

Ever since the Communist Party came to power in 1949 in China, the leader
Chairman Mao (Mao Zedong), who believed deeply in manpower, encouraged
bigger families with more children. To accomplish this, he abandoned abortions and
the use of contraception. His ultimate goal was to increase the labor force and the
strength and power of the People s Liberation Army. It was estimated that there was
around 540 million people in the country in 1949. However, the number quickly
grew into around 940 million in 1979. The number almost doubled in 30 years and
quickly approaching to one billion. The new leader Deng Xiaoping who firmly

Chinese government established a voluntary program in 1978 which suggested that
