This document outlines a learning episode for creating an effective slide presentation. The goals are to apply principles of audiovisual presentations and be evaluated on observation, analysis, reflection skills. Guidelines are provided on using presentation software, following designs like the "Rule of Six," including graphics/video to engage learners, and ensuring information is correct, cited and organized properly. A sample presentation on semantics is included, with steps the student will take to achieve the learning outcomes through practice and reflection.
This post is based on my field study that I did conduct last three months for the year 2014. You may seem not to approve some of this idea, but please correct me if I am wrong. Most of the things contain here were based on my own opinion. I am very welcome to some ideas that you may share on this subject matter. Thank you and hope it will be a help for those people in search for the same studies.

Mgmt. 350 Collaborative Guidelines
Business Communication many times requires sending the message so the receiver understands what it is you want them to know.
In this class you will perform 3 methods of communication: 1) written, (2) visual through a PowerPoint or Prezi and (3) orally using a video (e.g. YouTube or Mov) to explain how the theory(ies) or concept(s) apply(ies) to the case study.
An overview of the team collaborative presentation for each of these methods are listed in the Collaborative support documents.
Briefly the written assignment is a TEAM assignment in that only 1 document will be submitted on behalf of the team.
The written assignment will include all of the information on the Rating sheet. The structure of the written assignment is as follows:
1. Cover Page … with the name of your topic, a list of the students presenting the topic, the date and the course name
2. The Table of Contents which is a listing of the topics the written paper will cover
3. The Executive Summary is the first section of the paper however it is the last section to be written.
a. The reason for writing for writing this section last is that you need to have written the entire document so that you are able to provide an overview of the key elements of the written analysis.
b. REMEMBER the Executive Summary is for the EXECUTIVE. This means it needs to attract the Executive to either read the rest of the document or, more likely, refer the document to the appropriate staff person to read e.g. marketing, production, legal, etc.
c. This section can be as long as 1 page and is clearly longer than a paragraph.
4. The Introduction section begins to describe the case study and the issues that cause the analysis to begin.
5. The Body of the written analysis will feature those theories or concepts attached to the case (see the Excel Worksheet for this information).
Remember to use the RULE of 3; 3 theories or concepts and 3 examples of each theory or concept in the analysis of the case. Clearly your team cannot address all of the theories or concepts identified in the text – suggest selecting 3 theories or concepts which relate to your case and then provide 3 examples of how the theory or concept applies to the case.
Theory or Concept 1
1) 1 example of how the theory or concept applies to the case
2) 2nd example of how the theory or concept applies to the case
3) 3rd example of how the theory or concept applies to the case
Theory or Concept 2
1) 1 example of how the theory or concept applies to the case
2) 2nd example of how the theory or concept applies to the case
3) 3rd example of how the theory or concept applies to the case
Theory or Concept 3
1) 1 example of how the theory or concept applies to the case
2) 2nd example of how the theory or concept applies to the case
3) 3rd example of how the theory or concept applies to the case
6. The conclusion represents the 3 key ideas you want the audience to remember as the resu.

Task
This is a group presentation. Each group will consist of four students. Groups can formed by the lecturer or by the students
themselves. Each group will select a topic from the topic list provided below. Inform your lecturer about the topic you
selected at least a week before your presentation date.
The presentation is meant to be brief (10 minutes), but formal -- demonstrating skills in presenting to a business or
management audience. It should concisely and effectively convey the theme of the topic for an audience that does not have
any special expertise in your chosen topic. Each student should employ the best techniques they find available to reach
their audience.
Each presentation must include:
• 10 minutes of presentation time
• Visual aids, such as presentation software like PowerPoint, Prezi, Keynote, PowToon etc.
• Participation in roughly equal measure by each group member
• Well-supported argument interpreting the significance of the topic presented
• APA (6th version) referencing style
• Succinct presentation of in-depth research of the topic
• Attention to questions raised by audience about any subject matter of the topic
Guidelines for Presentations
Equal Participation
Each team member should contribute equally. Teams will compile a list of major areas to be covered in their presentation,
and assign one to each member to research and present. Each member should speak for approximately two and a half
minutes. The presentation can reflect the diversity of viewpoints of the presenters. Designate one team member as the
team leader. This person will be responsible for introducing the presentation as a whole, and each presenter. The team
leader will also summarize the presentation at its conclusion, and lead a class discussion.
Format
Some students may elect to use PowerPoint. There are numerous types of presentation software available, and a group
may use any one of them.
Class Presentation
Talk to the class, don't read. You may use notes when you make your presentation, but you may not read from a fully
written out text.
Here is one way to make a successful presentation:
1 Do plenty of reading and research. Explore the topic as fully as possible. Make notes.
2 Read over your notes, and think over the results of your reading.
3 Discuss your results with your team members. Tentatively plan the presentation in its general outline.
4 On your own again, and setting notes aside, brainstorm and write down all the interesting ideas that you have come
up with.
5 Organise these ideas into a coherent sequence. Return to your notes and add any information relevant to your major
ideas which will illustrate or explain them.
6 Add an introduction, which tells what you will talk about, and a conclusion which sums up what you have discussed
and learned. Cut out any irrelevant or uninteresting materials.
7 Meet with your team members to organize and streamline the pres ...

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
1. LEARNINGEPISODE3 – Slideshow (SlidePresentation)
My Learning Episode Overview
Episode 3 provides an opportunity for me to develop a teaching-learning resource for
a particular unit of study or lesson.
My Intended Learning Outcomes
In this Episode, I will be able to apply the principles in creating effective audio-
visual presentations.
My Performance Criteria
I will be rated along the following:
Quality of my observation and documentation,
Completeness and depth of analysis,
Depth and clarity of classroom observation-based reflection,
Completeness, organization, clarity of portfolio and
Time of submission of my portfolio.
My Learning Essentials
Presentation softwares are useful in organizing your lesson with a series of text and
graphics, often with audio and video to capture the interest of your learners. The most
popular one is PowerPoint but you can also explore so many others softwares or apps like,
Prezi, Powtoon, Keynote, Prezentit and Sliderocket.
When creating audio-visual presentations, remember the following:
1. Plan your presentation by drafting an outline. Ensure that information is organized in
proper headings and sub-headings based on how pieces of information relate with
each other.
2. Abide by the Rule of Six. Each slide should have a maximum of six lines and each line
with six words.

2. LEARNINGEPISODE3 – Slideshow (SlidePresentation)
3. Ensure that your font size is large enough to be seen by learners at the back. Font size
for titles should not be less than 36-40 and 32 for the rest.
4. Include more of key words or phrases and less of whole sentences.
5. Animation should have clear purpose. It should only be used if it will help highlight
important points, strongly communicate an idea, and not at all distract the learners.
6. Pictures speak a thousand words. Add pictures and even video clips to enrich your
presentation.
7. Follow the 3 C’s for information. All information included should be correct, current
and complete.
8. Proper citation should also be observed. Include a list of references at the end of the
presentation.
My Map
An effective teacher makes it her/his business to create slide presentations that really
enhance instruction.
To realize my Intended Learning Outcomes, I will work my way through these steps:

My Analysis
After working on your slide presentation, answer the following questions:
What are the good features of a slide presentation?
The good features of a slide presentation are, it have picture that can catch
the attention of the students, there are also animation and graphics, the
color of the themes and the font colors has unity so it is good in the eyes of
the audience/learners. Also the font is readable; it is not too big or too
small. And lastly, the themes are appropriate on the topic.
Which of these features are present in the slide presentation you made?
One of good features of my slide presentation is the color of the themes, the
font colors have unity and also my themes have connected to the topic of
my slide presentation. I also make sure that my font size is readable by the
learners.
Which features are not present in the slide presentation you made?
One of good features that are not present in my slide presentation is it don’t
have pictures, video presentation and audio presentation.
5. LEARNINGEPISODE3 – Slideshow (SlidePresentation)
My Reflection/Insights
1. What difficulties, if any, did you encounter in making the slide
presentation? How did you overcome them?
In making my slide presentation, I encounter some difficulties like I
don’t have themes that connected to my topic but I overcome this by
downloading thru internet. Another difficulties is I only have limited
font style so I only use simple styles and it is good that this style is too
attractive to the eyes of the audience/learners.
