Episode 3 provides an opportunity for me to examine how classrooms are
structured or designed to allow everyone’s maximum participation and effective
learning. I will be able to examine how classroom management practices affect learning.
My Intended Learning outcomes
In this episode, I must be able to plan on how to manage time, space, and resources
to provide a learning environment appropriate to the learners and conducive to
learning.

My Learning Essentials
The classroom climate that is conducive for learning is one that is non-threatening
yet business-like. It is a classroom where:

Location of the School: Buenavista 2, General Trias, Cavite
Date of Visit: July 29,2015
1. Some of the students are noisy while the teacher is discussing their lesson, but
most of the students are listening. They are 14-15 years old.
2. There are 24 boys and 23 girls.
3. As senior students in their school, most of the students can manage their
behavior but some of them cannot control their noise.
4. Most of the students are still depending their answer with their seatmates.
5. The students exert more patience especially when their teacher is discussing
their lesson.
6. They listen very well to their teachers’ discussion.

An Observation Guide for the CLASSROOM VISIT
Be guided by these questions as you do your observation classroom
management. It is also good to ask the teacher for additional information, so you
can verify your observation. Write your notes below; and then organize your data
in the table that follows.
1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teaching aids,
books, students’ belongings, supplies, etc.)? Describe these areas.
 There are some books located at the back and they are arranged properly. They
also have chalk box in the front beside the table.
2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room? List them down.
 Wear your foot socks.
 Cleaners of the Day.
3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules? If yes, and the
resource teachers is available, ask him/her to describe the process.
 Their teacher said that most of the students are following the rules but some of
the students are not. For those who are not following the rules based on her,
she gave punishment for those students.
4. What are the daily routines done by the teacher? (prayer, attendance,
assignment of monitors, warm-up activities, etc.) How they are done?
 The teacher started the classes by the opening prayer that is done by the prayer
leader, to be followed by greetings from the teacher and the students. Next is
the attendance that is reported by the group leaders and the discussion part.
5. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement?
 The students are seated by group and they are alternate boys, and girls.

6. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this managed?
 While the teacher is discussing, there are only soft noise come from the
students because most of the students are listening.
7. If a learner is not following instructions or is off-task, what does the teacher do?
Describe the behavior strategies use.
 While the teacher is discussing and the students is too noisy, she will stop the
discussion and after the few seconds the students are quiet.
8. What does the teacher do to reinforce positive behaviors? (behavior strategies)
 The teacher reinforces the learners by giving a positive feedback to students
answers.
In every class, there are students that a teacher cannot easily get the attention
while discussing specially when they are bored and there are some distractions on
them. So as a teacher, you need to think more activities and you need to be
energetic in class so you will get your students’ attention.

1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners’
behavior?
 Because the students are familiarized with their daily routines and
because of that some of them are bored, but the teacher can get the
students attention by discussing energeticly with some activities.
2. What should the teacher have in mind when she/he designs the
classroom organization and routines? What theories and principles
should you have in mind?
 She must think that he/she needs to be a energetic teacher and ready
fo the question of his/her students.
3. Which behavior strategies were effective in managing the behavior of
the learners? In motivating students? Why were they effective?
 Having a good discussion and enjoyable activities because it can attract
the students to be attentive in class.

 I imagine my self teaching fourth year students in highschool. I do some
routine and procedures and practices that can ready them in their
college years.
2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why
would you choose these rules?
 Always copy lecture - so that my students will be responsible to take
down notes on their lesson.
