Essay about Workers Compensation Fraud
Workers Compensation Fraud
Worker s Compensation is a service that provides reimbursement for lost wages to employees
who have sustained injuries from work or work related tasks. It is also one of the services that is
most often the victim of fraud. Each of the three types of fraud, claimant, employer, and provider, is
defined by the same characteristics, outlined by the Ohio Board of Workers Compensation:
#61623; Receiving workers compensation benefits that are not entitled to the claimant;
#61623; Making false or misleading statements with the purpose of securing goods or services
under the Workers Compensation Act;
#61623; Altering, falsifying, destroying, concealing, or removing records needed to assess claim

This proves little if any about the real problem, though, because only about 1,000 claims were
investigated in Kansas over five years (Lorenz), while over seven times that amount were
investigated in New York and California in the same time period ( InsuranceFraud ). Throughout
most sources, though, it is clear to see that employer fraud is the most prevalent and costly type of
fraud. Employer fraud includes a number of schemes used by employers to reduce the number of
workers compensation insurance premiums by underreporting payroll, misclassifying employees
occupations and misrepresenting their claims experience. According to the National Council on
Compensation, the most common frauds include:
#61623; Misclassification of workers. Employers can either classify workers as independent
contractor or misrepresent the work performed, which places workers in a less hazardous
occupational category. Both of these tactics are intended to avoid or reduce premiums.
#61623; Underreporting payroll. Another method of premium reduction is employers not reporting
parts of the work force, paying workers off the books, or creating a companion corporation to hide
a portion of the employees.
#61623; Misrepresentation of claims experience. Employers hide previous claims by classifying
employees as independent contractors or leased

Alienation In The Martian Chronicles
The feeling of alienation is one that no humans want to experience. In Ray Bradbury s The
Martian Chronicles, Bradbury allows the reader to grasp a greater understanding of what
alienation is like by bringing the story to a world of actual aliens. By doing so, Bradbury sets a
wall between the extraterrestrial setting of the book and humanity s reality on earth. He also
creates a sense of separation by never allowing the story s characters to live too far throughout the
book. This tactic keeps the reader from gaining a connection between the characters. The state of
being alienated is defined as being withdrawn. The way Bradbury writes this book allows the reader
to not only read about alienation, but to truly understand it too. Bradbury begins... Show more

In today s society, the divorce rate is about 50%. The loss of love in a relationship is shown in
The Martian Chronicles. The characters Mr. and Mrs. K struggle to keep their relationship
alive. They barely talk and it rare for them to go out into town. When Mr. K finally does request
that him and his wife go into town with their odd, birdlike pets, Mrs. K finds that she doesn t
want too. Love has to be tended to throughout a relationship, not just in minimal moments. This
is something that is true from Earth to Mars. Love is a main topic in this book. There are
examples of a loveless marriage, loss of a love one, wanting to meet new love, and the pain of
losing a loved one. Love is an emotion that all humans can sympathize with, whether is be because
of a partner or family member (Anna Minore). When lines like I thought: Well, here I am, the only
lady on Mars, and here is the only man, and, well... (Bradbury 148) are said, the yearning for love is
prominent even among characters from another planet. Bradbury shows that there are some traits
that carry through no matter the type of life form. Animals feel love, humans feel love, so why
should martians not experience the same emotion? Similarities aside, though the need to alienate
still shines

The Tragedy Of Siddhartha s Life
Siddhartha s protected environment could no longer satisfy him when he discovered the
unfortunate truths of every person s life. Occasionally, the prince would leave the palace to take
trips into the city. His father, wanting to shelter him, would orchestrate these trips to avoid the
unpleasantries of life. The story goes that four sights led Siddartha to leave his established life.
He experienced these sights on outings he was taken on by his charioteer named Chandaka.
Even though care was taken to hide these things the prince saw old age, disease, and death that
drastically changed his view of the world. On a fourth outing, he saw a holy man and a
practicing ascetic. This is when he first perceived these realities of human life. He suddenly
became aware of the causes of suffering in the world. This encounter showed him, what he
thought was the way to overcome life s sufferings, the ascetic path. At the age of twenty nine he
left his wife, his son, and his palace behind to lead a life of extreme asceticism that he believed
could lead him to the answer of overcoming human suffering. For six years Siddhartha Gautama
followed asceticism and meditation. He practiced the yoga discipline under two masters, Arada
Kalama, and Udraka Ramaputra. Not finding the answers under his two teachers he left to engage
in extreme asceticism and was joined by five others; Ashvajit, Vashpa, Bhadrika, Mahanaman, and
Kaundinya. These men became followers of Siddhartha. After six years, he

Mount Baker in Bellingham, Washington Essay
I decided for my project that I would spend the time researching Mount Baker. Mount Baker is
located about 30 miles east of Bellingham, Washington. The Cascade Mountain range extends over
140 miles between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, Canada. Mount Baker is a Stratovolcano,
which is also known as a composite volcano, it is also the highest peak in the North Cascades and
the fifth highest in the Cascade mountain range (Volcano Hazards Programs). Cities located near
Mount Bakerinclude Abbotsford, British Columbia and Bellingham, Washington. The closest stream
to the mountain is the Nooksack River which runs near the west side of the mountain. On the
southwest side of the mountain is Baker Lake. I chose this area because it is a very... Show more

As I looked out the window, I saw walls of rocks all over the place. I also saw a lot of good rock
exposure on the top of the mountain where the rock was to steep for the snow to stick to. You
will notice that Mount Baker has an abundance of all sorts of rocks. From the rocks I examined I
observed a lot of extrusive igneous rock, metamorphic rock and sedimentary rocks and you will
find few places where you can walk continuously from shale or basalt into well metamorphosed
gneiss (Tabor Haugerud). I observed rocks such as gabbro, shale, and types of extrusive and
intrusive igneous rock such as basalt. The ages of the rocks range from about as old as the
mountain, which is about 140,000 years old.
Structures:
When you look at a topographic map of Mount Baker, you will notice many different structures
and interesting landforms. The first thing I noticed when I was observing the map were all the
different peaks within the mountain. From what I have been reading I have found two major
faults that are within Mount Baker. These two faults are the Straight Creek Fault and the Ross
Lake Fault Zone; these faults are thought to be primarily strike slip. In addition, on the geologic
map you will notice the Sherman Crater, which originated from a large hydrovolcanic explosion
(Tabor, Haugerud, Hildreth, Brown). This crater is responsible for many of Mount Bakers past
lahars that have flowed down the mountain and into Baker Lake. The pattern of hills, valleys,
ridges, and

Go Set A Watchman, By Harper Lee
Prompt #5 In the book Go Set A Watchman , Dr. Finch said not much more than 5% of the South
ever saw a slave, much less owned one. to Jean Louise. This statement brings the idea of slavery
away from the racist views which are clearly present in characters like Dr. Finch and Grady O
Hanlon. Although the validity of this statement is questionable, the impact slaveryhad on society in
this country is clear. Slavery impacted many aspects of society, including the people of Maycomb,
the views of the Southern/Northern states, and racial tension in today s society.
The statement made by Dr. Finch was, in fact, inaccurate. When you look at the results of the 1860
census, you see that the overall percent of families owning slaves is only 8% in the United States as
a whole(CivilWar.net). However, in his statement from the book, he specifically said not much
more than 5% of the South ever saw a slave, much less owned one. The keywords in this
statement were South and Saw . Both of these words can be disproved by the 1860 census. If
you were to look at the different states separately, you would see that almost all southern states
were at or above 25% when looking at families who own slaves. This proves that much more than
5% of the south owned slaves. However, if you were to look at the data as a whole, you would
be mislead by thinking this 8% was a representation of the south. This is most likely what Dr.
Finch s error was when saying this. This is why I do believe that

Words As Sweet As Honey From Sakhambi Short Story
The story Words as Sweet as Honey From Sankhambi is a story being retold by a children s book
specialist Linda Rode. Sankhambi plays a big part in many Venda folktales and is very alike to
Hlakanyana from Zulu Folklore. He takes on many different shapes and sizes in these tales but
one thing for certain is wherever he is there is always trouble. This story is about how monkeys
became tall, slender, quick, and nimble from being short, and fat. Back in the early days the
monkeys were fat, little, pot bellied animals that moved rather slowly. They were not nearly as
nimble or quick as they are today, and there body shape was much different. Sankhambi had a lot of
fun sneaking up behind the monkeys and pulling their tails. Obviously the monkeys were not too
happy about this and would throw seeds and bits at him from high in the tree tops while he lay there
basking in the sun. Sankhambi hated the monkeybusiness and one day he decided that he was
going to put a stop to it. He approached the monkeys and said in his sweetest voice that he
wanted to tell his dear monkey friends a big secret. The eldest monkey called out to the other
monkeys not to listen to him, because it was just another one of his wicked tricks. Sankhambi
begged and pleaded the monkeys to listen to him for this very special event. Monkeys are naturally
curious animals so they slowly began to climb down the tree to listen to Sankhambi. Sankhambi
with his voice sweet as honey told them that he would like to

Initially, the declaration of martial law was well received, given the social turmoil the Philippines

opponents were given the opportunity to go into exile. But, as martial law dragged on for the next

The Comparison Of Godot, By James Beckett
There is a vast literature on interpretations of Godot, encompassing Christian and anti Christian
religion, Freudian and Jungian psychology, and a kitchen sinkful of esoteric and obscure isms. The
undeniable fact is that no one really knows what Godot is about, and the playwright himself clearly
believed that the core of his art lay in the ambiguities resulting from the absence of information,
saying that everything he knew about the characters was in the text and if he knew anything more
about the characters then he would have put it in the text. That Godot is more hole than doughnut
has made it an easy target of parody if not outright ridicule. Beckett evolved his unique literary
voice by distinguishing his style from that of his mentor James Joyce, whom he assisted during the
writing of Finnegans Wake. In almost exactly the opposite way, Joyce grounded his art in
fanatically perfectionist control of his work, leaving no missing pieces or rough edges in stuffing
his characters full to overflowing so that we the readers know more about them than they could
possibly know about themselves.
By far the best biography of Beckett, in my opinion, is by James Knowlson of the University of
Reading, whose 20 year friendship with the playwright led to the donation of notebooks,
manuscripts and other archival material that became the world s leading Beckett archive. Knowlson
s title taken from a passage in Beckett s notebooks is Damned to Fame, neatly encapsulating the

The Aztecs And The Aztec Religion
During what is to be believed around 15,000 years ago, civilization was starting to develop
around North and South America. One of the last societies to arise were the Aztecs. The Aztecs
originated from groups of people that were migrating from a lake named, Aztlan, towards the
valley of Mexico. They transformed from just a small group of explores into a successful empire
during this time. Aztecs had a very unique culture, their religion influenced most of their life. Their
religion was expressed through their rituals, everyday life, and art. Even before they settled down,
the Aztecs depended on their Gods to guide them to choose the perfect location for them. That is an
illustration of how much the trusted and respected their Gods.
The Aztec religion had a mix of mythology which is seen through the Aztecs God s uprising story
and their significance. In the Aztecs religion, the people had multiple gods that they observed and
prayed to. Their Gods ranged from nature spirts to supporter of the Gods. One of their Gods, was
named Quetzalcoatl. This deity represented the four major aspects of their forces, their creation,
virtue, learning and culture. Another influential God was Tlaloc, the God of rain. Tlaloc was a
representation of the atmosphere and everything that happened that was impacted by the weather.
Along with the Gods representing significant topics, the stories that led to that unique spirt
becoming a God influenced their life as well.
Let s begin with a God that

Deck Expansion Essay
How wide should you spread your deck? We aren t trying to break any records here, but we want
to achieve a decent sized span. For the spectators to believe they are seeing the entire deck, you
must stretch the spread the distance you would usually spread a deck if you were having an
audience member pick a card. Instead of using your fingers to help distribute the cards, let s use
friction. The key to expanding your reverse spread is regulated by how much you slide the cards
across one another. By simultaneously pulling your hands apart as you push and pull the cards
during the action of spreading, you regulate the friction that helps keep the cards together. Pull
your hands apart too far, and you will lose your grip and the cards will... Show more content on

Whatever the purpose, from now on you must be conscious of how often, and in which
direction, you spread cards. If you have a card selected from a reversed spread but reveal it with
a regular spread, for example, suspicion might follow. The best course of action is to always
reverse spread the deck when having a card selected, returned, or revealed. This keeps everything
uniform. However, if that notion seems too overwhelming, below you ll find several viable
alternatives that should satisfy your needs. Fanning Cards By pivoting the entire deck around
your thumb, you evenly distribute the cards in a circular shape. It s a beautiful way to have a
card selected, and does not expose the direction in which the deck is spread. A cursory look on
the internet should yield several different methods of fanning. Some are more difficult than
others, but any kind will work. Dribbling Cards One of my favorite ways to have cards selected
and returned is by dribbling them. Hold the deck from above by using the right thumb on the
short inner end, and second, third and little fingers at the outer end (End Grip). Curl your right
first finger on top of the deck. Starting from the face of the deck, allow cards to fall individually
by exerting and releasing pressure with your right thumb and second finger as you apply pressure
with your forefinger from the top. Your left hand waits underneath, catching the falling cards in its
palm. As the cards drop, have someone call stop. As soon as

Beach Mood Analysis
One of my most exceptionally loved spots to go in my free time is the beach. A beach is a
national geographic, nature made landform that is near a body of water. It is usually comprised of
loose particles, which often consist of sand, rock, shingle, stones and, or cobblestone. The
molecules living on a beach are often natural to the shoreline, such as mollusk shells, saltwater
chum, or green algae growth. Shorelines typically appear around territories along the coastwhere
there is a wave or current action. While being at the beach, I adore hearing the sound of the tides,
getting a feel of a light breeze, possessing a reminiscing scent of sea water, listening to the call of

According to the Public Safety Canada, in the year of 2015 there were over 500 offenders who
received special designations and who were serving an indeterminate sentence, twenty one
offenders were serving both a life sentence and an indeterminate sentence. More than 95 percent
of dangerous offenders were held in custody, while close to four percent of dangerous offenders

dangerous sexual offenders remained in custody while three Habitual Offenders were released

already overburdened criminal justice system, but also to the society at large as the risk to re

Effective Communication As An Effective Leader
Communication is critical to the success of any business especially in the field of law enforcement.
As a leader, it is essential to convey operational objectives with clarity and purpose. The challenge is
to communicate in a manner that is effective in meaning and direct in intentions. Time must be
invested along with understanding, communication and the essentialelement of listening to work
towards progression, (Smith, 2011). Through effective communication, a leader can influence
subordinates to follow the vision, therefore leading the organization to future aspirations of success
and longevity. In order to be an effective leader you must be able to relate to others through open
communication, (Bennis, 2009). Effective communication is critical in establishing effective
relationships within an organization, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). In order to add clarity and
acceptance of our vision a leader needs to communicate the steps in getting there. These steps can
be in the form of short termand long term goals. Goals provide direction in obtaining our vision,
they are also instrumental in the success of an organization, (Lawler, 2003). The vision must
incorporate values that are ethical and for the good of the organization driving towards
commitment and dedication to achieve. Without vision we have no direction, we are limiting our
abilities to grasp the future, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). Discipline and direction are very important
in creating a vision with clarity.

Social Disorganization Theory And Crime
Starz Power , Social Disorganization Theory and Crime
Introduction:
In the television show Power , organized crime is the most prevalent form of crime displayed.
Organized crime can be defined as a methodically unlawful activity for profit on a city wide.
interstate and worldwide scale. The act of engaging in criminal activity as a structured assembly
is called racketeering in the United States. The premise of this project is to research social
disorganization theory as it pertains to the television series Power . Power catalogs the life of
James St. Patrick, who is also known as Ghost . Ghost has become a powerful figure in New
York City s biggest drug network. The series follows Ghost as he struggles with living a double
life and his quest for legitimate business ventures. As Ghost gets closer to legitimacy, a string of
violent crimes began to take place within and around his network. My research will incorporate
the first two episodes of the first season. This paper will present an analysis of organized crime
from a sociological standpoint and uncover that social disorganization creates a need for
organized crime i.e drug networks and street gangs which increases the occurrence of violent
crime and other social disparities . I will investigate the relationship between the presence of
organized crime and social disparities n a disorganized society in my analysis of Power .

Masterpieces in art was traditionally known as a work done with extraordinary skill; especially a
supreme intellectual or artistic achievement. The works of Giotto in the Arena chapel are classified
as masterpieces because, these pieces signal the time of Giotto establishing his own style that would
then spread throughout Italy. Many of his contemporaries recognized his talent, Renaissanceartists
and writers insisted that Giotto was their true artistic ancestor. At few other moments in the history

While Masaccio was experimenting with capturing realism of the human anatomy, the
Manuscript emphasizes the blood of Christ rather than the body of Christ. The manuscript opens
with three pages that seem to foreshadow the book s contents. Each is covered with several
bright red drops of blood raining down against a black background (Areford, 76). As shown in
The Five Wounds Of Christ instead of focusing on the body of Christ, the piece focuses on the
wounds in the hands and feet of Christ, with the center containing the heart with a bloody lance
pierced through it. The wounds of Christ are further emphasized by the grain in the wood of the
cross, whose pattern mimics that of wounds. The manuscripts focused on the symbolism of the
blood, Each leaf, is covered in dense layers of carefully painted wounds of varying shades of red,
one on top of the other, each dripping with blood. The painting creates the unsettling impression
that the pages are profusely bleeding. (Areford, 17). The artists used the technique of layering on
thick red paint on vellum (animal skin) to give the texture of wounds and blood, which left a
lasting impact on the handlers of this

graders today, relatable. The events that occur in the plot, are fiction, but they are very relevant and
potentially life like; which makes the narrative realistic fiction. Additionally, many examples from
the story demonstrate the overarching theme, that being open to risk can lead to the
accomplishment of your goals, Victor raised his hand, wanting to impress Teresa... I didn t know
you knew French, she said. That was good. (Soto, 1990). Gary Soto writes in third person
limited, specifically to seventh graders/transitioning middle schoolers. He achieves his purpose,
which is to convey the perspective of seventh graders on daily problems, by using appropriate
language; They shook hands raza style... I ain t making a face, ese. (Soto, 1990). The syntax in this
sentence fits the purpose of the writing; the ain t connects to the fact that Soto is writing for middle
schoolers. Soto not only uses dialogue, diction, and syntax to achieve his purpose but to also...

Mass Media Bias Analysis
The media brings forward information on world issues that could be misleading from the actual
significance of the story. Bias media comes from many media outlets such as: news producers,
social media, and journalists who make false claims to gain more attraction to an audience who
interprets the issues inaccurately. The articles NRA sues Florida over a new gun law in wake of
Stoneman Douglas shooting and Will Parkland Change the Gun Debate? lean towards moderate
bias because it contains the main viewpoint of gun control in Florida, but then moves away from it
with unimportant side stories. Unlike the article Transcript: Stoneman students questions to
lawmakers and the NRA at the CNN town hall contain barely any bias because it states... Show

Ricciotto Canudo s The Birth Of The Seventh Art
For 121 years, film has been an art form which combines architecture, music, painting, sculpture,
poetry and dance according to Ricciotto Canudo s The Birth of the Seventh Art. It is the best way
and latest method for artists to create and share their imagination. I love sharing my imagination in
my films, not only owing to the fact that I am good at telling stories, but I am also a man with the
ambition to change peoples aesthetic view with experimental films. As my passion lies in film

First, the critical thinking courses in both history of cinema and tradition on film making has
been attached a great importance in SFAI s curricula which is vital for me to create an
experimental film. All great experimental works or theories are based on older ones, for
example, David Lynch s film style was obviously affected by the European Avant grade Film
Movement, specifically surrealism. Emphasizing the randomness in dream and the
interpretation of dreams became a significant feature of Lynch s work. Thus, it is important to
learn from classic theorists to find my own style. Secondly, courses at SFAI are based on
enabling student understanding toward the fundamental process of film, especially in a very
unique Wet Lab offering students with 16mm and Super 8mm which will not only teach me the
digital production process, but also the traditional ones. As an independent filmmaker, I
participate in every aspect of my own work from screenplay writing to the background editing

learn a lot, professional training on handling basic concepts of film photography and storytelling
strategies will definitely enable me to become an expert in filmmaking. As a Chinese student, I

Columbine Shooting Essay
On April 20, 1999, two troubled teenagers fatally shot twelve students, one teacher and wounded
twenty four others at Columbine High School. When asked to name a victim of the Columbine
massacre, most people cannot produce a name but can name the shooters: Eric Harris and Dylan
Klebold. Too often do Americans and citizens of the world remember the perpetrators of tragedies
rather than the victims themselves. In an article published by Newsweek written by Max Kutner

Luxembourg started to legally recognize same sex partnerships, commonly referred to as civil

benefits, the partners would also be held liable for each other s debts; however, the rights did not
include joint adoption of children. Luxembourg would also not recognize partnerships that were

Londoners that the flow of creative people from New York to Los Angeles could be sign of

The Challenges of the Dollar Being an Intenational Reserve...
The U.S. dollar index has exhibited a clear long term downward trend since 2002. This is a
cause for concern among emerging markets because a large proportion of their foreign exchange
reserves is held in dollar denominated assets. The dollar accounts for 62 percent of allocated
foreign exchange reserves around the world and for 58 percent of the allocated reserves of
emerging and developing economies . Most central banks would incur considerable losses on their
investments if the depreciation of the dollar continues in the future. Even if the depreciation of the
dollar does not impact the attractiveness of U.S. securities now, it poses a significant challenge to
the exorbitant privilege of the dollar as an international reserve and investment currency.
In the aftermath of the financial crisis and due to fears that the dollar might lose its predominant
status, the search for alternative currencies has intensified. Although it is improbable that a shift
from the dollar will happen in the near future, private investors and central bankers have
highlighted the need for portfolio diversification towards alternative currencies. In the first quarter
of 2013, about 94 percent of allocated foreign exchange reserves comprised of holdings in the 5
traditional reserve currencies: dollar, euro, pound sterling, Swiss francs, and Japanese yen. On the
other hand, other currencies accounted for just 6 percent of allocated foreign exchange reserves .

I carried this with me for decades. And then I decided to become a Warrior instead of a victim
statistic. I broke the cycle (Unknown). Child abuse is the harming of a child that causes extreme
injury, emotional instability, or even death. Neglect is a form of child abuse where a parent
does not provide the proper care that a child needs to successfully grow and develop. Child
molestation is another form of child abuse, and involves an adult or older adolescent using a child
for their own sexual pleasure. There are thousands of cases being reported every year. However,
we may never know the exact number of cases. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is indeed heinous to hear an innocent child cry out and that person continues to harm. All child
molesters, and abusers need to have severe punishments, and to be off of the street. Children who
get molested and/or abused, suffer from long term problems that include depression, and trouble
forming relationships. This tragic incident can also take years to get over, if not, haunt them for the
rest of their lives.
Today, convictions of child molestation can already be severe. This depends on the state.
According to Criminal Defense Lawyer (NOLO), in Georgia, a person accused of molesting a
child can have a sentence of 5 to 25 years for their first offense. Any other similar crimes
committed by the same criminal, can cause them to have a sentence of 10 years to life. The
penal code for any libidinous acts with a child 14 years of age and younger, in California,
includes a sentence of up to 8 years, for each felony count against that person. Every separate act
is its own felony charge. Also, any sexual intercourse with someone under the age of 10, will be
punished with a sentence of up to 25 years to years. In Ohio, any who rapes a child under the age
of 13 is to have time in prison, or a life sentence, even if the person did not know the child s
correct age. Child sexual abusers will also have to register themselves as a sex offender. This
includes, the person s name, and location. Anyone will be able to look this information up.

Introduction. On 06 January 2005, a cargo train carrying a massive amount of chlorine spilled in
Graniteville, South Carolina creating panic and indeed chaos to both citizens and emergency
managers on how to properly respond to the hazardous materials released from the train wreckage.
The people of the small rural town of Graniteville located just outside of Aiken, South Carolina,
where caught in their sleep when Freight train 192 traveling approximately 47 mph struck other

Thus, being the busiest rail and perhaps the most important for both the residents of Graniteville
and Avondale plant, many trains traveled through the town daily conducting business.
Nonetheless, for successfully deliveries, a switch connecting the spur to the mainline railway had
to be manually turned towards the proper route. Failure to do so called for an eventual accident.
Consequently, the train crash happened as a result of someone forgetting to flip the switch
disconnecting the spur from the main line. Causing Freight Train 192 to divert from its route.
Incident Chronology. At approximately 2:39 AM Freight Train 192 traveling at a speed of 47

Cultural Differences In The North And South Korea
The North Korea is dramatically different compared to the South Korea. Unlike China, which is
rapidly developing its economy and diverging from the self contained world, until this day North
Korea still remains undeveloped. Many of those who are not familiar with the affairs in the South
and North Koreas might not understand why both regions, which are so close to one another,
differs so much in terms of lifestyle, economic, and social developments. They were unified for
centuries under the Joseon Dynasty (1392 1910), and share the same language and essential culture.
Yet for the last six decades and North and South Koreahave been divided along a fortified
DMZ(Szczepanski). It has been almost 70 years since both countries lived separates lives. North
Koreais like a hermit isolating its self from the rest of the world while south Koreahas flourished
overtime. South Korea is said to have turned into the Hollywood of the east, churning out
entertainment that is coveted by millions of fans stretching from japan to Indonesia (Schmitt).
There are about 400 independent studios producing content for the entertainment
market(Schmitt). As for north Korea there is nothing much to be said. The only thing the
people are legally allowed to watch are propaganda made by the government, although outsiders
do smuggle thumb drive into the country with movies and tv shows for people to watch, but
they have to watch it secretly. If they are caught they will either be executed or locked up and
may never be let out. In my opinion I believe that the north Korean regime is afraid that foreign
culture will bring doubt to the society therefore leading to the point where the people and

North Korea the government decided where you work at, how you dress, what you wear while
in south you see people dressing how they wanted, no one is being arrested for what they dressed

Software Development And Its Development
As we saw throughout the last forty or so years is that computer systems frequently evolve and that
developmental change is inevitable and software development is no stranger to this, which is where
agile development or the term that some use agile software development comes into play. This is a
concept that searches for alternatives to the traditional way of managing a project and based on the
foundation that change is essential to software development. Throughout this paper, we will look at
the reasons that brought about the change in thinking with regard to software development, discuss
some of the key principles of agile development, methods under agile development and the benefits
of the use of agile development. Let s begin this document with a discussion into what brought
about the change in thinking.
The biggest reason for the change in methodology in software development is due to the failures
realized through the use of traditional sequential development. With these failures an assembly of
individuals developed a declaration of policy that included the following ideologies: Individuals and
interactions over processes and tools, working software over comprehensive documentation,
customer collaboration over contract negotiation and finally responding to change. ( Manifesto for
agile software development, n.d.). Let s continue on with this document and examine at some of the
principles with regard to the concept of agile development.

* Collegial a type of supportive model a body of people working collectively, embodying a team
concept.
* System the result of a strong search for a higher meaning at work by many of today s employees.
They want more than just a paycheck and job security from their jobs.
(Newstrom, 2014, p. 39)
I also agree that management has to be able to change and grow and continue to listen to any
upward communication from the staff. In order to accomplish better communication, management
should provide an open door policy and also informal meetings where employees can either feel
free to go to their supervisors first with any questions or concerns and also raise issues with
resources or basically anything that interferes with their job performance (Newstrom, 2014, p. 70).
I believe that it is also important to support an organization culture including some key values
including the following: integrity, great customer service, unity, respect and compassion and
excellence. (Newstrom, 2014, p. 100).
Lastly, I think that having a fun place to work creates motivated individuals who will have an
increased job satisfaction. A fun workplace doesn t have to be an oxymoron. Anyone can choose to
create a fun workplace. Both qualitative and quantitative data exist to support our belief that a fun
work environment can have a positive impact on productivity, quality,

Issues of Digital Rights Management (DRM) in India
On purchasing an audio book of George Orwell s classic, 1984 from iTunes, the author was
faced with a peculiar problem the audio book had a weird mb4 format, playable only on Apple
products and the conversion to mp3 was impossible because the file was well, encrypted. So, when
section 65A of the Indian Copyright(Amendment) Act, 2012 was notified , a legal analysis seemed
to be pertinent for this provision, introducing Digital Rights Management(DRM) in India, would
indeed have a palpable effect on almost all Indian consumers of digital media. Section 65A of the
Indian Copyright (Amendment) Act, 2012 provides legal protection to technological protection
measures (or TPM e.g. digital locks, encryption), such that the circumvention of such TPM is
prohibited, while tools or devices aiding circumvention may be permitted for the purpose of fair use
. Such use of TPM for the purpose of access control is classified as DRM and can take many
forms limiting number of installations and plays , limiting content to certain file types , limiting
content to be played on particular software etc. We first analyze this provision in comparison
with similar US and EU provisions and try to understand whether it is a favourable addition to
Indian IP law, especially in the context of its political economic background. We then try and
analyze the problems with the provision, especially through the lens of an economic analysis as
well as from a consumer point of view. Since, DRM is

Unlike conventional airplanes, rotary winged aircrafts have a fundamental advantage in that lift
and control are relatively independent of forward speed. Rotary aircrafts do not need a runway
and have much more freedom and maneuverability in the air. Despite early efforts to fly using
rotary winged devices as well as the mentioned advantages, the first successful flight came from a
fixed wing aircraft [2]. The development of rotor technology paved the path for the creation of the
quadcopter. Etienne Oehmichen successfully built the first quadrotor in 1922 called the
Oehmichen No. 2. A single 120 horsepower engine powered the four rotors of this machine.
However, due to a lack of control of individual rotors, the altitude and orientation could not be
varied. To combat this issue, four additional propellers were attached to better direct the movement
of the quadrotor [3]. Modern quadcopters do not rely on additional propellers to maneuver
themselves. Instead, each rotor can be manipulated to perform virtually any aerial move. Today,
quadcopters are used in many areas of industry due to their reliability, cost effectiveness and multi
functionality. The most widely known uses come from photography and the military. Quadcopters
are constantly seen being used in sports media coverage, recreational and professional filming,

Hypothesis Testing The Boiler Room Stats
Hypothesis Testing the Boiler Room Stats According to the manager four aspects require
evaluation from the statistics gathered for the week of calls made in the boiler room. The four
aspects are the basis for the hypothesis testing; the manager s suspicions are a) the null which are
as follows:
1.Hypothesis Test One
a)Null Hypothesis Ho=u Mean sales exceeds 41.5 sales per telemarketer
b)Alternative Ha=u less than 55% receiving online training
b)Alternative Ha=u or= 55% receiving online training
3.Hypothesis Test Three
a)Null Hypothesis Ho=u Mean calls among no training is less than 145
b)Alternative Ha=u or= Mean calls among no training is 145
4.Hypothesis Test Four
a)Null Hypothesis Ho=u Mean time per call ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For hypothesis test two the manager suspects less than 55% of the 100 telemarketers received
online training. Looking at the type of training data; two types of training were offered and none at
all, provides the three options. Therefore, if those receiving either group training or none at all total
more than 45 telemarketers of the 100 sales people then the alternative hypothesis is accepted
because there is sufficient evidence to support it. If the manager s suspicions are true: the null
hypothesis that states there are less than 55% of the sales force who received online training is
true then there must be sufficient evidence to support that statement. 20 of 100 callers have no
training and 30 telemarketers received group training while 50 sales people received online
training according to the Excel data sheet provided. Therefore, 50% either received no training or
group training and 50% received online training. The manager s suspicions are supported. There is
sufficient evidence to support the null hypothesis and therefore the alternative is false. With
hypothesis test three the manager states the mean amount of calls made by those with no training
is less than 145 calls per person for the week of data recorded.
To prove the null; calls are less than 145 per person for those who are listed as no training or
none, the total amount of calls for the week made by the none group are divided by the 20
telemarketers to compute the mean

Bacterial Conjunctivitis Essay
Bacterial Conjunctivitis
Bacterial Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye , is one of the most well known and
treatable eye infections for both children and adults. The name was chosen because it is an
inflammation of the conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is the clear membrane that covers the white part
of the eye and lines the inner surface of the eyelids. It is commonly called pink eye because of the
red color of the eye from irritation and was described as such.
Several different microorganisms cause Bacterial Conjunctivitis, the most common being
Haemophilus aegyptius, the Koch week bacillus. This type of bacterium is gram negative and rod

infections often accompany Bacterial Conjunctivitis.
Bacterial Conjunctivitis has a relatively short incubation period. Most cases are cured in 3 5
daysand there is rarely any permanent damage. The disease is treated with antibiotics that
typically contain Sulamyd and administered as eye drops or an ointment for 7 10 days. Oral
antibiotics can be given for certain types of bacteria. It is important, however, to continue
medication as instructed by the physician, even after the symptoms have cleared. If antibiotics are
not taken, the disease will run its course in fourteen days and a wet washcloth over the eyelids may
help relive some discomfort. An over the counter Saline Solution, artificial tears , can be used to
relive itching and burning, but precautions should be taken so that the bottle never touches the
infected eye. Sunglasses can be worn relieve pain from the bright light.
It should be noted that Bacterial Conjunctivitis is extremely contagious, especially in places with

The Book Of Revelation By John When He Was On The Isle Of...
The book of Revelation was written by John when he was on the Isle of Patmos. This book is
the only book in the Bible that is made up entirely of apocalyptic writing. Revelation appeals to
the imagination and provokes visions of the coming of the Lord. There are many symbols and
numbers found in the scriptures that are significant to end times. This book is revealing to us
what will happen in the latter days when God will bring the world to an end. The judgement is
contained in a scroll that is seven times sealed and only the Lamb is worthy to open and read it
(Knowles 701). The phrase seven sealsrefers to the seven symbolic seals that secure the book and
when the Lamb broke each seal, a judgement is released or an apocalyptic event occurs.
The opening of the first seal is described in Revelation 6:1 2, And I saw when the Lamb opened
one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, come
and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was
given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. (The Thompson Chain Reference
Bible, King James Version, Revelation 6:1 2). According to Matthew Henry, the white horse
signifies purity. It was during a time when the Heavenly Father sent his witnesses to teach all
nations. The crown represents the Divine nature of the religion, while the bow represents being
spiritually armed against their foes. The second seal was

Strasburg s Savior Analysis
The perceived Savior of the Washington Nationals has finally become what everyone expected
him to be coming out of San Diego State in 2010. It made be a slight shock to people that he
ranks this high because of his injury history. However, the reality is he s having a breakout
season and should be recognized for his historic work in 2016 and overall he s been pretty darn
good throughout his career. A big reason for Strasburg s success in 2016 I believe is the new
leadership in the Nationals dugout. Manager Dusty Baker has brought a calming influence to
everybody, including Strasburg telling him to smile more and enjoy going to the mound every
fifth day. I think he s taken that to heart he has a 13 1 record with a 2.83 ERA thus far in 2016.

A Brief Note On Canada And The United States Essay
Accessibility About 80% of Canadian claims that they have a family doctor and 64% of the
population claim to have a dentist. In another word, the healthcare in Canada is considered to be
highly accessible. Unfortunately, the system does have its flaws in situations such as the
aboriginals, the people with disabilities, and for the populations that lives outside the urban areas
have less accessible healthcare providers. For many instances, the dweller of the rural and
reserves areas would have to travel for hours to find a clinic and for others it is simply not
available. Compare to Canada, in the USA, healthcare is currently not accessible to all Americans
but only to certain societal groups that are less fortunate. It is estimated that by 2019, the
uninsured population in the States may increase to 65.7 million people, or 23.2% of the
population. The U.S. population has a constant stable growing rate, which means the U.S.
healthcare systems will have to provide for an even larger population than it already has. The
U.S. population is expected to increase by 325 million by 2020; the population will increase by
about 20%. All this to say that it is crucial that America tries to make healthcare more accessible
and available to the entire population not solely to the indigents and seniors for the better of the
society. If this situation is not resolved, it will only cause more deficiency in the American
healthcare system and making the situation worse than it already is.

The Negative Effects Of Modern Technology
Technology is the distribution of intelligence that deals with the arrangement and use of industrial
means and their relationship with life, society, and the environment. Since the establishment of
modern technology has been entangled with it. On average a smartphone user will check their
phones 150 times a day . And that is just how the people cooperate with their Smartphone.
Technology has a large negative effect on society. Neurologists worry that if unless we wake up to
the catastrophe that the appliance filled, stimulant enhanced 21st century is doing to the human
brain. Humans could be sleepwalking towards a forthcoming in which most of the living things
eventually become artificial. Electricity is the advanced technology that separates the line between
living and nonliving machines, and between our bodies and the outside world. There are several
reasons how today s machinery could be helping the civilization, however it is needed to be
cautioned that there are more considerable cons that come along with technology as well. For
instance, children are becoming too reliable on technology that they have an absence of any
physical abilities thus becoming lazy and overweight. Or having teenagers not have skills in writing
that are mandatory for everyone to effectively communicate with each other exclusively in a
professional environment. Today s civilization lives in a world of artificial intelligence that is
blinded from all of the cons. Modernized technology has played a very important role in affecting
both types of relationships. Although modern technology helps people to connect with the past,
present, and the future, it has subsidized to the eradication of relationships. Examples of modern
technology that has impacted relationships include smart phones, laptops, and computers.
Furthermore, the internet is the most dedicated modern technology used in the form of emails,
Facebook, MySpace, and Snapchat. Modern technology has not accomplished to entitle people to
fully express their feelings. This is because without face to face communication, emotions could be
misunderstood which often results in conflicts. Technology has been a cause to the loss of many

The Decline of the Minoan Civilization
Minoan Crete was a major civilization in its time, but several theories have been advanced to
explain its demise, including speculations associating it with mythical Atlantis. What were the
causes of the Minoan Civilization s decline? State the mystery and provide a brief summary of 2
reasonable scholarly theories. Identify one of the theories as the most plausible and provide at least
two convincing reasons.

Hendrik Bruins took some soil samples which showed sea microorganisms and species, in places
that no known phenomenon could explain their existence. The only way they could have been
deposited on the land of Crete was by a tsunami. The tidal wave caused by Santorini Volcano
travelled and hit the shores of Crete, destroying the plantations, the crops, the ships and commerce,
devitalizing and deviating the Minoan Civilization. The Minoan ports and infrastructures were
destroyed by the 50 feet waves and were never rebuilt. (Minoan Civilization, 2015) Another theory
is that the Minoan civilization on Crete was wiped out due to massive earthquakes and large
amounts of ash that fell on the island from the volcano. It was believed that the earthquakes caused
the palaces to crumble, and the ash choked off light and killed plants, leaving the survivors to
starve. However, recent research suggests otherwise. Most of the ash from the volcano fell in the
opposite direction from Crete, and Crete seems to have suffered only a slight dusting of ash. More
destructive was a massive tsunami that resulted from the eruption and devastated the Minoan
settlements on the northern coast of Crete. Earthquakes associated with the volcanic eruption also
likely took their toll on Minoan urban life, but there

The Prejudice Of Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee

Mrs. Christopher
Honors English One/Period 2
1 March 2015
The Prejudice of Maycomb All men are created equal , one of the most ignored statements that our
founding fathers wrote in the Constitution. People exercise prejudice everywhere in the U.S.
Prejudice is a topic that is constantly revisited in Harper Lee s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. Her
novel focuses on Scout, the daughter of Atticus Finch, living her life in the 1930s of rural
Maycomb, Alabama. Scout witnesses the injustice and prejudice against many people, not only
Negroes. The heat of prejudice rises when Atticus decides to defend Tom Robinson, a black who is
going under trial for allegedly raping a white girl. Despite the clear evidence that Robinson is
innocent, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calpurnia responds that folks don t like to have somebody around knowin more than they do. It
aggravates em. You re not gonna change any of them by talking right, they ve got to learn
themselves, and when they don t want to learn, there s nothing you can do but keep your mouth
shut or talk their language. (Lee 167) Calpurnia s insight offers us a look at the language divide
between whites and blacks. White people dislike a person who speaks like a black and black people
dislike a person who speaks like a white. The fact that the black community despises the way
whites act and vice versa shows the fear of difference. Scout s neighbor, Mrs. Dubose also
dislikes people who act differently, including Atticus, which is shown when, she shouts at Scout.
Yes indeed, what has the world come to when a Finch goes against his raising? I ll tell you. She
put her hand to her mouth. When she drew it away, It trailed a long silver thread of saliva. Your
father s no better than the niggers and trash that he works for! (Lee 135) Mrs. Dubose dislikes
people who act differently than expected. Atticus acted differently than other people earning him
the hatred of Mrs. Dubose. Mrs. Dubose also compares Negroes to trash, showing that she also
hates Negroes, probably because they have different skin color from her. The town of Maycomb

Animal Farm Rhetorical Analysis
An Allegory is, a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning,
typically a moral or political one. Animal Farm is an allegory for the Stalinist era of the Soviet
Union. George Orwell wrote Animal Farm with the intention of helping others understand the
gravity of Stalin s rule. He wrote in an allegoryinstead of a black and white opposition to Stalin
and it worked. Because of the allegorical story, it was understandable to anyone, and it was created
in a simple way that shows not only the evil of the antagonist, but also how understandable it was
that he got there. The story doesn t shame the animals that put Napoleon there, it shows how
maniacal and manipulative Napoleon was and how anyone could have lead him... Show more

The rhetoric in Animal Farm was intended to inform and influence readers on Stalin s coming of
power. For example Napoleon was an allegory for Joseph Stalin, and Squealer has been compared
to Vyacheslav Molotov. Orwell said that this was the only book he consciously wrought with
purpose in mind, this purpose was the rhetoric of the story. Rhetoric is written to persuade an
audience and that was exactly what Orwell intended. Orwell published the book in 1945 when the
British held Stalin in high esteem. Something Orwell hoped he could change, through the rhetorical
components of his story.
Using an allegory as a rhetorical device is intiary different from a synopsis of an historical event.
Using either of these is a more creative way to illustrate complex ideas and concepts in ways that
are comprehensible or striking to readers. Simply putting bullet points of information on the Soviet
Union does nothing to help understand the manipulation and intensity to stalin s rise to power. Not
to bash on history but without sympathy for the events it can be quite boring and mundane to learn.
Animal Farm made me feel for the characters, and understand them, making the history much more

Essay on Technology in the film Tron
Technology in the film Tron
Introduction
The purpose of my project is to discover how technology is represented within the film Tron. To
answer this research question, I viewed and analyzed the movie and incorporated information from
the text and various websites. While studying this film, I took into consideration factors such as
images and language used, how technology is related to society, and what symbols the creator used
to convey certain qualities of technology. In this research paper, I will begin by explaining the
significance of this project and my areas of research. I will then relay the focus of my
investigation, the methods I employed to gain my research, analyze the film, and discuss the
implications of my analysis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This description led me to believe that the outlook of technology at the time, when the Internet was
just being introduced to the public, was fear. People feared the unknown power of the new
technology of computers. Tron is a story of man battling his own creations, which represents
technology as a powerful force with destructive capabilities.
I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to
think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how
technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited
access to computers at that time. I wasn t concerned with the impact of new computer technology
then, but remember hearing people say that machines would someday run the world. For
example, I worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that
new machines were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a
job. I think this movie would probably have a bigger impact now that computers are such a large
part of our everyday lives. Artificial intelligence is still a popular theme for science fiction movies,
so people must like to consider it a possibility. I ve read that there is a possible sequel to the movie

Analysis Of Father And I By Paar Lagerqvist
The short story is about a Sunday walk in the country taken by a young boy and his father.
Written in first person, it appears simple in nature, but it is actually a more complex story that is
depicted by the author. In his story, Father and I , Paar Lagerqvist uses imagery and symbolism
to say that although as children we have unwavering faith in our parents and that our world
basically revolves around them, at some point as we grow, we realize that there is more to life
than this sheltered world. The story begins on a perfect, bright Sunday afternoon. A father and son
wave goodbye to the mother who is preparing supper, and they head into the woods to enjoy the
sounds of the birds and adventure by the railroad tracks. As the young boy and his father are
admiring the beautiful songs of the finches and warblers, a traincomes rushing along the tracks.
Although the train came buzzing by quickly enough to startle the little boy, his father saluted the
familiar conductor and re established the peacefulness of the Sunday afternoon. As dusk begins to
fall, the child begins to feel uneasy about being in the darkening woods. The young boy s fear
grows, but his father remains calm and collected. Then out of nowhere a mighty roar of a black
train tore through the abyss awakening the two out of their quiet state. The black train pierced
through the night at a frantic speed and the father tells his son that he did not recognize the driver.
This added to the son s uneasiness and

  • 2. Essay about Workers Compensation Fraud Workers Compensation Fraud Worker s Compensation is a service that provides reimbursement for lost wages to employees who have sustained injuries from work or work related tasks. It is also one of the services that is most often the victim of fraud. Each of the three types of fraud, claimant, employer, and provider, is defined by the same characteristics, outlined by the Ohio Board of Workers Compensation: #61623; Receiving workers compensation benefits that are not entitled to the claimant; #61623; Making false or misleading statements with the purpose of securing goods or services under the Workers Compensation Act; #61623; Altering, falsifying, destroying, concealing, or removing records needed to assess claim validity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This proves little if any about the real problem, though, because only about 1,000 claims were investigated in Kansas over five years (Lorenz), while over seven times that amount were investigated in New York and California in the same time period ( InsuranceFraud ). Throughout most sources, though, it is clear to see that employer fraud is the most prevalent and costly type of fraud. Employer fraud includes a number of schemes used by employers to reduce the number of workers compensation insurance premiums by underreporting payroll, misclassifying employees occupations and misrepresenting their claims experience. According to the National Council on Compensation, the most common frauds include: #61623; Misclassification of workers. Employers can either classify workers as independent contractor or misrepresent the work performed, which places workers in a less hazardous occupational category. Both of these tactics are intended to avoid or reduce premiums. #61623; Underreporting payroll. Another method of premium reduction is employers not reporting parts of the work force, paying workers off the books, or creating a companion corporation to hide a portion of the employees. #61623; Misrepresentation of claims experience. Employers hide previous claims by classifying employees as independent contractors or leased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Alienation In The Martian Chronicles The feeling of alienation is one that no humans want to experience. In Ray Bradbury s The Martian Chronicles, Bradbury allows the reader to grasp a greater understanding of what alienation is like by bringing the story to a world of actual aliens. By doing so, Bradbury sets a wall between the extraterrestrial setting of the book and humanity s reality on earth. He also creates a sense of separation by never allowing the story s characters to live too far throughout the book. This tactic keeps the reader from gaining a connection between the characters. The state of being alienated is defined as being withdrawn. The way Bradbury writes this book allows the reader to not only read about alienation, but to truly understand it too. Bradbury begins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In today s society, the divorce rate is about 50%. The loss of love in a relationship is shown in The Martian Chronicles. The characters Mr. and Mrs. K struggle to keep their relationship alive. They barely talk and it rare for them to go out into town. When Mr. K finally does request that him and his wife go into town with their odd, birdlike pets, Mrs. K finds that she doesn t want too. Love has to be tended to throughout a relationship, not just in minimal moments. This is something that is true from Earth to Mars. Love is a main topic in this book. There are examples of a loveless marriage, loss of a love one, wanting to meet new love, and the pain of losing a loved one. Love is an emotion that all humans can sympathize with, whether is be because of a partner or family member (Anna Minore). When lines like I thought: Well, here I am, the only lady on Mars, and here is the only man, and, well... (Bradbury 148) are said, the yearning for love is prominent even among characters from another planet. Bradbury shows that there are some traits that carry through no matter the type of life form. Animals feel love, humans feel love, so why should martians not experience the same emotion? Similarities aside, though the need to alienate still shines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Tragedy Of Siddhartha s Life Siddhartha s protected environment could no longer satisfy him when he discovered the unfortunate truths of every person s life. Occasionally, the prince would leave the palace to take trips into the city. His father, wanting to shelter him, would orchestrate these trips to avoid the unpleasantries of life. The story goes that four sights led Siddartha to leave his established life. He experienced these sights on outings he was taken on by his charioteer named Chandaka. Even though care was taken to hide these things the prince saw old age, disease, and death that drastically changed his view of the world. On a fourth outing, he saw a holy man and a practicing ascetic. This is when he first perceived these realities of human life. He suddenly became aware of the causes of suffering in the world. This encounter showed him, what he thought was the way to overcome life s sufferings, the ascetic path. At the age of twenty nine he left his wife, his son, and his palace behind to lead a life of extreme asceticism that he believed could lead him to the answer of overcoming human suffering. For six years Siddhartha Gautama followed asceticism and meditation. He practiced the yoga discipline under two masters, Arada Kalama, and Udraka Ramaputra. Not finding the answers under his two teachers he left to engage in extreme asceticism and was joined by five others; Ashvajit, Vashpa, Bhadrika, Mahanaman, and Kaundinya. These men became followers of Siddhartha. After six years, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Mount Baker in Bellingham, Washington Essay I decided for my project that I would spend the time researching Mount Baker. Mount Baker is located about 30 miles east of Bellingham, Washington. The Cascade Mountain range extends over 140 miles between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, Canada. Mount Baker is a Stratovolcano, which is also known as a composite volcano, it is also the highest peak in the North Cascades and the fifth highest in the Cascade mountain range (Volcano Hazards Programs). Cities located near Mount Bakerinclude Abbotsford, British Columbia and Bellingham, Washington. The closest stream to the mountain is the Nooksack River which runs near the west side of the mountain. As I looked out the window, I saw walls of rocks all over the place. I also saw a lot of good rock exposure on the top of the mountain where the rock was to steep for the snow to stick to. You will notice that Mount Baker has an abundance of all sorts of rocks. From the rocks I examined I observed a lot of extrusive igneous rock, metamorphic rock and sedimentary rocks and you will find few places where you can walk continuously from shale or basalt into well metamorphosed gneiss (Tabor Haugerud). I observed rocks such as gabbro, shale, and types of extrusive and intrusive igneous rock such as basalt. The ages of the rocks range from about as old as the mountain, which is about 140,000 years old. Structures: When you look at a topographic map of Mount Baker, you will notice many different structures and interesting landforms. The first thing I noticed when I was observing the map were all the different peaks within the mountain. From what I have been reading I have found two major faults that are within Mount Baker. These two faults are the Straight Creek Fault and the Ross Lake Fault Zone; these faults are thought to be primarily strike slip. In addition, on the geologic map you will notice the Sherman Crater, which originated from a large hydrovolcanic explosion (Tabor, Haugerud, Hildreth, Brown). This crater is responsible for many of Mount Bakers past lahars that have flowed down the mountain and into Baker Lake. The pattern of hills, valleys, ridges, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Go Set A Watchman, By Harper Lee Prompt #5 In the book Go Set A Watchman , Dr. Finch said not much more than 5% of the South ever saw a slave, much less owned one. to Jean Louise. This statement brings the idea of slavery away from the racist views which are clearly present in characters like Dr. Finch and Grady O Hanlon. Although the validity of this statement is questionable, the impact slaveryhad on society in this country is clear. Slavery impacted many aspects of society, including the people of Maycomb, the views of the Southern/Northern states, and racial tension in today s society. The statement made by Dr. Finch was, in fact, inaccurate. When you look at the results of the 1860 census, you see that the overall percent of families owning slaves is only 8% in the United States as a whole(CivilWar.net). However, in his statement from the book, he specifically said not much more than 5% of the South ever saw a slave, much less owned one. The keywords in this statement were South and Saw . Both of these words can be disproved by the 1860 census. If you were to look at the different states separately, you would see that almost all southern states were at or above 25% when looking at families who own slaves. This proves that much more than 5% of the south owned slaves. However, if you were to look at the data as a whole, you would be mislead by thinking this 8% was a representation of the south. This is most likely what Dr. Finch s error was when saying this. This is why I do believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Words As Sweet As Honey From Sakhambi Short Story The story Words as Sweet as Honey From Sankhambi is a story being retold by a children s book specialist Linda Rode. Sankhambi plays a big part in many Venda folktales and is very alike to Hlakanyana from Zulu Folklore. He takes on many different shapes and sizes in these tales but one thing for certain is wherever he is there is always trouble. This story is about how monkeys became tall, slender, quick, and nimble from being short, and fat. Back in the early days the monkeys were fat, little, pot bellied animals that moved rather slowly. They were not nearly as nimble or quick as they are today, and there body shape was much different. Sankhambi had a lot of fun sneaking up behind the monkeys and pulling their tails. Obviously the monkeys were not too happy about this and would throw seeds and bits at him from high in the tree tops while he lay there basking in the sun. Sankhambi hated the monkeybusiness and one day he decided that he was going to put a stop to it. He approached the monkeys and said in his sweetest voice that he wanted to tell his dear monkey friends a big secret. The eldest monkey called out to the other monkeys not to listen to him, because it was just another one of his wicked tricks. Sankhambi begged and pleaded the monkeys to listen to him for this very special event. Monkeys are naturally curious animals so they slowly began to climb down the tree to listen to Sankhambi. Sankhambi with his voice sweet as honey told them that he would like to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An explosion during the proclamation rally of the senatorial slate of the opposition Liberal Party in Plaza Miranda in Quiapo, Manila on August 21, 1971, prompted Marcos to suspend the writ of habeas corpus hours after the blast, which he restored on January 11, 1972 after public protests. Martial Law (1972 1981) Using the rising wave of lawlessness and the threat of a Communist insurgency as justification, Marcos declared martial law on September 21, 1972 by virtue of Proclamation No. 1081. Martial Law remained in force until 1981, when Marcos was reelected, in the midst of accusations of electoral fraud. Marcos, ruling by decree, curtailed press freedom and other civil liberties; closed down Congress and media establishments; and ordered the arrest of opposition leaders and militant activists, including his staunchest critics Senator Benigno Aquino, Jr. and Senator Jose Diokno. Initially, the declaration of martial law was well received, given the social turmoil the Philippines was experiencing. Crime rates plunged dramatically after a curfew was implemented. Political opponents were given the opportunity to go into exile. But, as martial law dragged on for the next nine years, excesses by the military emerged. • 10. The Comparison Of Godot, By James Beckett There is a vast literature on interpretations of Godot, encompassing Christian and anti Christian religion, Freudian and Jungian psychology, and a kitchen sinkful of esoteric and obscure isms. The undeniable fact is that no one really knows what Godot is about, and the playwright himself clearly believed that the core of his art lay in the ambiguities resulting from the absence of information, saying that everything he knew about the characters was in the text and if he knew anything more about the characters then he would have put it in the text. That Godot is more hole than doughnut has made it an easy target of parody if not outright ridicule. Beckett evolved his unique literary voice by distinguishing his style from that of his mentor James Joyce, whom he assisted during the writing of Finnegans Wake. In almost exactly the opposite way, Joyce grounded his art in fanatically perfectionist control of his work, leaving no missing pieces or rough edges in stuffing his characters full to overflowing so that we the readers know more about them than they could possibly know about themselves. By far the best biography of Beckett, in my opinion, is by James Knowlson of the University of Reading, whose 20 year friendship with the playwright led to the donation of notebooks, manuscripts and other archival material that became the world s leading Beckett archive. Knowlson s title taken from a passage in Beckett s notebooks is Damned to Fame, neatly encapsulating the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Aztecs And The Aztec Religion During what is to be believed around 15,000 years ago, civilization was starting to develop around North and South America. One of the last societies to arise were the Aztecs. The Aztecs originated from groups of people that were migrating from a lake named, Aztlan, towards the valley of Mexico. They transformed from just a small group of explores into a successful empire during this time. Aztecs had a very unique culture, their religion influenced most of their life. Their religion was expressed through their rituals, everyday life, and art. Even before they settled down, the Aztecs depended on their Gods to guide them to choose the perfect location for them. That is an illustration of how much the trusted and respected their Gods. The Aztec religion had a mix of mythology which is seen through the Aztecs God s uprising story and their significance. In the Aztecs religion, the people had multiple gods that they observed and prayed to. Their Gods ranged from nature spirts to supporter of the Gods. One of their Gods, was named Quetzalcoatl. This deity represented the four major aspects of their forces, their creation, virtue, learning and culture. Another influential God was Tlaloc, the God of rain. For the spectators to believe they are seeing the entire deck, you must stretch the spread the distance you would usually spread a deck if you were having an audience member pick a card. Instead of using your fingers to help distribute the cards, let s use friction. The key to expanding your reverse spread is regulated by how much you slide the cards across one another. By simultaneously pulling your hands apart as you push and pull the cards during the action of spreading, you regulate the friction that helps keep the cards together. Pull your hands apart too far, and you will lose your grip and the cards will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whatever the purpose, from now on you must be conscious of how often, and in which direction, you spread cards. If you have a card selected from a reversed spread but reveal it with a regular spread, for example, suspicion might follow. The best course of action is to always reverse spread the deck when having a card selected, returned, or revealed. This keeps everything uniform. However, if that notion seems too overwhelming, below you ll find several viable alternatives that should satisfy your needs. Fanning Cards By pivoting the entire deck around your thumb, you evenly distribute the cards in a circular shape. It s a beautiful way to have a card selected, and does not expose the direction in which the deck is spread. A cursory look on the internet should yield several different methods of fanning. Some are more difficult than others, but any kind will work. Dribbling Cards One of my favorite ways to have cards selected and returned is by dribbling them. Hold the deck from above by using the right thumb on the short inner end, and second, third and little fingers at the outer end (End Grip). Curl your right first finger on top of the deck. Starting from the face of the deck, allow cards to fall individually by exerting and releasing pressure with your right thumb and second finger as you apply pressure with your forefinger from the top. Your left hand waits underneath, catching the falling cards in its palm. As the cards drop, have someone call stop. As soon as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Beach Mood Analysis One of my most exceptionally loved spots to go in my free time is the beach. A beach is a national geographic, nature made landform that is near a body of water. It is usually comprised of loose particles, which often consist of sand, rock, shingle, stones and, or cobblestone. The molecules living on a beach are often natural to the shoreline, such as mollusk shells, saltwater chum, or green algae growth. Shorelines typically appear around territories along the coastwhere there is a wave or current action. While being at the beach, I adore hearing the sound of the tides, getting a feel of a light breeze, possessing a reminiscing scent of sea water, listening to the call of the seagulls, and feeling the sand, underneath my bare feet. Goals provide direction in obtaining our vision, they are also instrumental in the success of an organization, (Lawler, 2003). This tragic incident can also take years to get over, if not, haunt them for the rest of their lives. Today, convictions of child molestation can already be severe. This depends on the state. According to Criminal Defense Lawyer (NOLO), in Georgia, a person accused of molesting a child can have a sentence of 5 to 25 years for their first offense. Unlike China, which is rapidly developing its economy and diverging from the self contained world, until this day North Korea still remains undeveloped. Many of those who are not familiar with the affairs in the South and North Koreas might not understand why both regions, which are so close to one another, differs so much in terms of lifestyle, economic, and social developments. They were unified for centuries under the Joseon Dynasty (1392 1910), and share the same language and essential culture. Yet for the last six decades and North and South Koreahave been divided along a fortified DMZ(Szczepanski). It has been almost 70 years since both countries lived separates lives. North Koreais like a hermit isolating its self from the rest of the world while south Koreahas flourished overtime. South Korea is said to have turned into the Hollywood of the east, churning out entertainment that is coveted by millions of fans stretching from japan to Indonesia (Schmitt). There are about 400 independent studios producing content for the entertainment market(Schmitt). As for north Korea there is nothing much to be said. The only thing the people are legally allowed to watch are propaganda made by the government, although outsiders do smuggle thumb drive into the country with movies and tv shows for people to watch, but they have to watch it secretly. If they are caught they will either be executed or locked up and may never be let out. In my opinion I believe that the north Korean regime is afraid that foreign culture will bring doubt to the society therefore leading to the point where the people and questioning the government. Life in north Korea is very much different from the south. In North Korea the government decided where you work at, how you dress, what you wear while in south you see people dressing how they wanted, no one is being arrested for what they dressed like, you decided your own future. Software Development And Its Development As we saw throughout the last forty or so years is that computer systems frequently evolve and that developmental change is inevitable and software development is no stranger to this, which is where agile development or the term that some use agile software development comes into play. This is a concept that searches for alternatives to the traditional way of managing a project and based on the foundation that change is essential to software development. Throughout this paper, we will look at the reasons that brought about the change in thinking with regard to software development, discuss some of the key principles of agile development, methods under agile development and the benefits of the use of agile development. Let s begin this document with a discussion into what brought about the change in thinking. The biggest reason for the change in methodology in software development is due to the failures realized through the use of traditional sequential development. With these failures an assembly of individuals developed a declaration of policy that included the following ideologies: Individuals and interactions over processes and tools, working software over comprehensive documentation, customer collaboration over contract negotiation and finally responding to change. ( Manifesto for agile software development, n.d.). Let s continue on with this document and examine at some of the principles with regard to the concept of agile development. Issues of Digital Rights Management (DRM) in India On purchasing an audio book of George Orwell s classic, 1984 from iTunes, the author was faced with a peculiar problem the audio book had a weird mb4 format, playable only on Apple products and the conversion to mp3 was impossible because the file was well, encrypted. So, when section 65A of the Indian Copyright(Amendment) Act, 2012 was notified , a legal analysis seemed to be pertinent for this provision, introducing Digital Rights Management(DRM) in India, would indeed have a palpable effect on almost all Indian consumers of digital media. Section 65A of the Indian Copyright (Amendment) Act, 2012 provides legal protection to technological protection measures (or TPM e.g. digital locks, encryption), such that the circumvention of such TPM is prohibited, while tools or devices aiding circumvention may be permitted for the purpose of fair use . Such use of TPM for the purpose of access control is classified as DRM and can take many forms limiting number of installations and plays , limiting content to certain file types , limiting content to be played on particular software etc. We first analyze this provision in comparison with similar US and EU provisions and try to understand whether it is a favourable addition to Indian IP law, especially in the context of its political economic background. We then try and analyze the problems with the provision, especially through the lens of an economic analysis as well as from a consumer point of view. Since, DRM is ... One company in particular that is looking to exploit the use of drones on a massive scale is Amazon through their Prime Air program. Rotary aircrafts do not need a runway and have much more freedom and maneuverability in the air. Despite early efforts to fly using rotary winged devices as well as the mentioned advantages, the first successful flight came from a fixed wing aircraft [2]. The development of rotor technology paved the path for the creation of the quadcopter. Etienne Oehmichen successfully built the first quadrotor in 1922 called the Oehmichen No. 2. A single 120 horsepower engine powered the four rotors of this machine. However, due to a lack of control of individual rotors, the altitude and orientation could not be varied. To combat this issue, four additional propellers were attached to better direct the movement of the quadrotor [3]. Modern quadcopters do not rely on additional propellers to maneuver themselves. Instead, each rotor can be manipulated to perform virtually any aerial move. Today, quadcopters are used in many areas of industry due to their reliability, cost effectiveness and multi functionality. The most widely known uses come from photography and the military. For many instances, the dweller of the rural and reserves areas would have to travel for hours to find a clinic and for others it is simply not available. Written in first person, it appears simple in nature, but it is actually a more complex story that is depicted by the author.
