This document summarizes a research paper that proposes a two-stage method for enhancing low quality fingerprint images. The first stage uses a ridge-compensation filter in the spatial domain to enhance ridge pixels and reduce non-ridge pixels. The second stage uses polar coordinates and separates filters into radial and angular domains. Local orientation and frequency are estimated based on learning from images. Frequency band pass filtering is then applied using the estimated local orientation and frequency maps. The two-stage approach enhances fingerprint images in both the spatial and frequency domains to improve low quality images.
This document discusses image deblurring techniques. It begins by introducing image restoration and focusing on image deblurring. It then discusses challenges with image deblurring being an ill-posed problem. It reviews existing approaches to screen image deconvolution including estimating point spread functions and iteratively estimating blur kernels and sharp images. The document also discusses handling spatially variant blur and summarizes the relationship between the proposed method and previous work for different blur types. It proposes using color filters in the aperture to exploit parallax cues for segmentation and blur estimation. Finally, it proposes moving the image sensor circularly during exposure to prevent high frequency attenuation from motion blur.

Comparison of Segmentation Algorithms and Estimation of Optimal Segmentation ...Pinaki Ranjan Sarkar
Recent advancement in sensor technology allows very high spatial resolution along with multiple spectral bands. There are many studies, which highlight that Object Based Image Analysis(OBIA) is more accurate than pixel-based classification for high resolution(< 2m) imagery. Image segmentation is a crucial step for OBIA and it is a very formidable task to estimate optimal parameters for segmentation as it does not have any unique solution. In this paper, we have studied different segmentation algorithms (both mono-scale and multi-scale) for different terrain categories and showed how the segmented output depends on upon various parameters. Later, we have introduced a novel method to estimate optimal segmentation parameters. The main objectives of this study are to highlight the effectiveness of presently available segmentation techniques on very high-resolution satellite data and to automate segmentation process. Pre-estimation of segmentation parameter is more practical and efficient in OBIA. Assessment of segmentation algorithms and estimation of segmentation parameters are examined based on the very high-resolution multi-spectral WorldView-3(0.3m, PAN sharpened) data.

AN ENHANCED EDGE ADAPTIVE STEGANOGRAPHY APPROACH USING THRESHOLD VALUE FOR RE...ijcsa
The document summarizes an enhanced edge adaptive steganography approach using a threshold value for region selection. It aims to improve the quality and modification rate of a stego image compared to Sobel and Canny edge detection techniques. The proposed approach uses a threshold value to select high frequency pixels from the cover image for data embedding using LSBMR. Experimental results on 100 images show about a 0.2-0.6% improvement in image quality measured by PSNR and a 4-10% improvement in modification rate measured by MSE compared to Sobel and Canny edge detection.
The document discusses image segmentation techniques. It begins by defining segmentation as partitioning an image into distinct regions that correlate with objects or features of interest. The goal of segmentation is to find meaningful groups of pixels. Several segmentation techniques are described, including region growing/shrinking, clustering methods, and boundary detection. Region growing uses homogeneity tests to merge neighboring regions, while clustering divides space based on similarity within groups. Boundary detection finds boundaries between objects. The document provides examples and details of applying these segmentation methods.

AN OPTIMAL SOLUTION FOR IMAGE EDGE DETECTION PROBLEM USING SIMPLIFIED GABOR W...IJCSEIT Journal
Edge detection plays a vital role in computer vision and image processing. Edge of the image is one of the
most significant features which are mainly used for image analyzing process. An efficient algorithm for
extracting the edge features of images using simplified version of Gabor Wavelet is proposed in this paper.
Conventional Gabor Wavelet is widely used for edge detection applications. Due do the high computational
complexity of conventional Gabor Wavelet, this may not be used for real time application. Simplified Gabor
wavelet based approach is highly effective at detecting both the location and orientation of edges. The
results proved that the performance of proposed Simplified version of Gabor wavelet is superior to
conventional Gabor Wavelet, other edge detection algorithm and other wavelet based approach. The
performance of the proposed method is proved with the help of FOM, PSNR and Average run time.
The document proposes a hybrid technique using Anisotropic Scale Invariant Feature Transform (A-SIFT) and Robust Ensemble Support Vector Machine (RESVM) to accurately identify faces in images. A-SIFT improves upon traditional SIFT by applying anisotropic scaling to extract richer directional keypoints. Keypoints are processed with RESVM and hypothesis testing to increase accuracy above 95% by repeatedly reprocessing images until the threshold is met. The technique was tested on similar and different facial images and achieved better results than SIFT in retrieval time and reduced keypoints.

In recent years due to advancement in video and image editing tools
it has become increasingly easy to modify the multimedia content. The
doctored videos are very difficult to identify through visual
examination as artifacts left behind by processing steps are subtle
and cannot be easily captured visually. Therefore, the integrity of
digital videos can no longer be taken for granted and these are not
readily acceptable as a proof-of-evidence in court-of-law. Hence,
identifying the authenticity of videos has become an important field
of information security.
In this thesis work, we present a novel approach to detect and
temporally localize video inpainting forgery based on optical flow
consistency. The proposed algorithm comprises of two stages. In the
first step, we detect if the given video is inpainted or authentic and
in the second step we perform temporal localization. Towards this, we
first compute the optical flow between frames. Further, we analyze the
goodness of fit of chi-square values obtained from optical flow
histograms using a Guassian mixture model. A threshold is then applied
to classify between authentic and inpainted videos. In the next step,
we extract Transition Probability Matrices (TPMs) by modelling the
optical flow as first order Markov process. SVM based classification
is then applied on the obtained TPM features to decide whether a block
of non-overlapping frames is authentic or inpainted thus obtaining
temporal localization. In order to evaluate the robustness of the
proposed algorithm, we perform the experiments against two popular and
efficient inpainting techniques. We test our algorithm on public
datasets like PETS and SULFA. The results show that the approach is
effective against the inpainting techniques. In addition, it detects
and localizes the inpainted frames in a video with high accuracy and
low false positives.
Filtering Based Illumination Normalization Techniques for Face RecognitionRadita Apriana
The main challenge experienced by the present face recognition techniques and smooth filters
are the difficulty in managing illumination. The differences in face images that are created by illumination
are normally bigger compared to the differences in inter-person that is utilized to differentiate identities.
However, face recognition over illumination has more uses in a lot of applications that deal with subjects
that are not cooperative where the highest potential of the face recognition as a non-intrusive biometric
feature can be executed and utilized. A lot of work has been put into the research and development of
illumination and face recognition in the present era and a lot of critical methods have been introduced.
Nevertheless, there are some concerns with face recognition and illumination that require further
considerations which include the deficiencies in comprehending the sub-spaces in illumination pictures,
problems with intractability in face modelling and complicated mechanisms of face surface reflections.

This document discusses various image processing and analysis techniques. It describes image segmentation as separating an image into meaningful parts to facilitate analysis. Common segmentation techniques mentioned include thresholding, edge detection, color-based segmentation, and histograms. Thresholding involves separating foreground and background using a threshold value. Edge detection finds edges and contours. Color segmentation extracts information based on color. Histograms locate clusters of pixels to distinguish regions. The document provides examples of applying these techniques and concludes that segmentation partitions an image into homogeneous regions to extract high-level information.
Performance of Efficient Closed-Form Solution to Comprehensive Frontier Exposureiosrjce
This document discusses boundary detection techniques for images. It proposes a generalized boundary detection method (Gb) that combines low-level and mid-level image representations in a single eigenvalue problem to detect boundaries. Gb achieves state-of-the-art results at low computational cost. Soft segmentation and contour grouping methods are also introduced to further improve boundary detection accuracy with minimal extra computation. The document presents outputs of Gb on sample images and concludes that Gb effectively detects boundaries in a principled manner by jointly resolving constraints from multiple image interpretation layers in closed form.

extraction of the image of the brain is pretreated with the Non Local Means filter. A theoretical approach is

Intelligent indoor mobile robot navigation using stereo visionsipij
Majority of the existing robot navigation systems, which facilitate the use of laser range finders, sonar
sensors or artificial landmarks, has the ability to locate itself in an unknown environment and then build a
map of the corresponding environment. Stereo vision, while still being a rapidly developing technique in the
field of autonomous mobile robots, are currently less preferable due to its high implementation cost. This
paper aims at describing an experimental approach for the building of a stereo vision system that helps the
robots to avoid obstacles and navigate through indoor environments and at the same time remaining very
much cost effective. This paper discusses the fusion techniques of stereo vision and ultrasound sensors
which helps in the successful navigation through different types of complex environments. The data from
the sensor enables the robot to create the two dimensional topological map of unknown environments and
stereo vision systems models the three dimension model of the same environment.

Comparative study on image segmentation techniquesgmidhubala
A new hybrid method for the segmentation of the brain mrissipij
The magnetic resonance imaging is a method which has undeniable qualities of contrast and tissue
characterization, presenting an interest in the follow-up of various pathologies such as the multiple
sclerosis. In this work, a new method of hybrid segmentation is presented and applied to Brain MRIs. The
extraction of the image of the brain is pretreated with the Non Local Means filter. A theoretical approach is
proposed; finally the last section is organized around an experimental part allowing the study of the
behavior of our model on textured images. In the aim to validate our model, different segmentations were

another models. This results show the effectiveness and the robustness of the suggested approach.

Franky and Fobert were fishing by a lake when Fobert suggested playing football instead. When Franky threw the football, it frightened a flock of flamingos, causing them to fly into a frenzy. The flamingos' chaotic behavior resulted in feathers flying through the air and some of them falling over or freezing in fear. To make amends, Franky and Fobert fed the flamingos fried fish by the fire, and they all became friends.

Face detection using the 3 x3 block rank patterns of gradient magnitude imagessipij
Face detection locates faces prior to various face-
related applications. The objective of face detecti
on is to
determine whether or not there are any faces in an
image and, if any, the location of each face is det
ected.
Face detection in real images is challenging due to
large variability of illumination and face appeara
nces.
This paper proposes a face detection algorithm usin
g the 3×3 block rank patterns of gradient magnitude
images and a geometrical face model. First, the ill
umination-corrected image of the face region is obt

using the brightness plane that is produced using t
he locally minimum brightness of each block. Next,
the
illumination-corrected image is histogram equalized
, the face region is divided into nine (3×3) blocks
, and
two directional (horizontal and vertical) gradient
magnitude images are computed, from which the 3×3
block rank patterns are obtained. For face detectio
n, using the FERET and GT databases three types of
the
3×3 block rank patterns are a priori determined as
templates based on the distribution of the sum of t
he
gradient magnitudes of each block in the face candi
date region that is also composed of nine (3×3) blo
cks.
The 3×3 block rank patterns roughly classify whethe
r the detected face candidate region contains a fac
e or
not. Finally, facial features are detected and used
to validate the face model. The face candidate is
validated as a face if it is matched with the geome
trical face model. The proposed algorithm is tested
on the
Caltech database images and real images. Experiment
al results with a number of test images show the
effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
Extraction of spots in dna microarrays using genetic algorithmsipij
DNA microarray technology is an eminent tool for genomic studies. Accurate extraction of spots is a
crucial issue since biological interpretations depend on it. The image analysis starts with the formation of
grid, which is a laborious process requiring human intervention. This paper presents a method for optimal
search of the spots using genetic algorithm without formation of grid. The information of every spot is
extracted by obtaining a pixel belonging to that spot. The method developed selects pixels of high intensity
in the image, thereby spot is recognized. The objective function, which is implemented, helps in identifying
the exact pixel. The algorithm is applied to different sizes of sub images and features of the spots are
obtained. It is found that there is a tradeoff between accuracy in the number of spots identified and time
required for processing the image. Segmentation process is independent of shape, size and location of the
spots. Background estimation is one step process as both foreground and complete spot are realized.
Coding of the proposed algorithm is developed in MATLAB-7 and applied to cDNA microarray images.
This approach provides reliable results for identification of even low intensity spots and elimination of
spurious spots.

Design and implementation of video tracking system based on camera field of viewsipij
The basic idea of this paper is to design and implement of video tracking system based on Camera Field of
View (CFOV), Otsu’s method was used to detect targets such as vehicles and people. Whereas most
algorithms were spent a lot of time to execute the process, an algorithm was developed to achieve it in a
little time. The histogram projection was used in both directional to detect target from search region,
which is robust to various light conditions in Charge Couple Device (CCD) camera images and saves
computation time.
Our algorithm based on background subtraction, and normalize cross correlation operation from a series
of sequential sub images can estimate the motion vector. Camera field of view (CFOV) was determined and
calibrated to find the relation between real distance and image distance. The system was tested by
measuring the real position of object in the laboratory and compares it with the result of computed one. So
these results are promising to develop the system in future.
Image Deblurring Based on Spectral Measures of Whitenessijma
Image Deblurring is an ill-posed inverse problem used to reconstruct the sharp image from the unknown
blurred image. This process involves restoration of high frequency information from the blurred image. It
includes a learning technique which initially focuses on the main edges of the image and then gradually
takes details into account. As blind image deblurring is ill-posed, it has infinite number of solutions leading
to an ill-conditioned blur operator. So regularization or prior knowledge on both the unknown image and
the blur operator is needed to address this problem. The performance of this optimization problem depends
on the regularization parameter and the iteration number. In already existing methods the iterations have
to be manually stopped. In this paper, a new idea is proposed to regulate the number of iterations and the
regularization parameter automatically. The proposed criteria yields, on average, an ISNR only 0.38dB
below what is obtained by manual stopping. The results obtained with synthetically blurred images are
good and considerable, even when the blur operator is ill-conditioned and the blurred image is noisy

IRJET- Robust Edge Detection using Moore’s Algorithm with Median FilterIRJET Journal
The document proposes a robust edge detection method using Moore's algorithm with median filtering. It performs foreground detection on input images to segment the foreground from background. Moore's neighbor algorithm is then used to trace boundaries and detect edges. Median filtering is also applied to remove noise while preserving edges. The method is tested on BSD dataset images and evaluated based on metrics like PSNR, SNR, RMSE, etc. Results show the proposed method performs better edge detection compared to modified Moore's algorithm, Canny Moore, and Sobel Moore approaches.
NEW LOCAL BINARY PATTERN FEATURE EXTRACTOR WITH ADAPTIVE THRESHOLD FOR FACE R...gerogepatton
This paper represents a feature extraction method constructed on the local binary pattern (LBP) structure.
The proposed method introduces a new adaptive thresholding function to the LBP method replacing the
fixed thresholding at zero. The introduced function is a Gaussian Distribution Function (GDF) variation.
The proposed technique uses the global and local information of the image and image blocks to perform
the adaptation. The adaptive function adds to the on-hand im-age’s features by preserving the information
of the amplitude of the pixel difference rather than just considering the sign of the pixel difference in the
process of LBP coding. This feature improves the accuracy of the face recognition system by providing
additional information. The proposed method demonstrates a higher recognition rate than other presented
techniques (%97.75). The proposed method was also tested with different types of noise to demonstrate its
effectiveness in the presence of various levels of noise. The Extended Yale B dataset was used for the
testing along with Support Vector Machine (SVM) as classifier.
A common goal of the engineering field of signal processing is to reconstruct a signal from a series of sampling measurements. In general, this task is impossible because there is no way to reconstruct a signal during the times
that the signal is not measured. Nevertheless, with prior knowledge or assumptions about the signal, it turns out to
be possible to perfectly reconstruct a signal from a series of measurements. Over time, engineers have improved their understanding of which assumptions are practical and how they can be generalized. An early breakthrough in signal processing was the Nyquist–Shannon sampling theorem. It states that if the signal's highest frequency is less than half of the sampling rate, then the signal can be reconstructed perfectly. The main idea is that with prior knowledge about constraints on the signal’s frequencies, fewer samples are needed to reconstruct the signal. Sparse sampling (also known as, compressive sampling, or compressed sampling) is a signal processing technique for efficiently acquiring and reconstructing a signal, by finding solutions tounder determined linear systems. This is based on the principle that, through optimization, the sparsity of a signal can be exploited to recover it from far fewer samples than required by the Shannon-Nyquist sampling theorem. There are two conditions under which recovery is possible.[1] The first one is sparsity which requires the signal to be sparse in some domain. The second one is incoherence which is applied through the isometric property which is sufficient for sparse signals Possibility
of compressed data acquisition protocols which directly acquire just the important information Sparse sampling (CS) is a fast growing area of research. It neglects the extravagant acquisition process by measuring lesser values to reconstruct the image or signal. Sparse sampling is adopted successfully in various fields of image processing and proved its efficiency. Some of the image processing applications like face recognition, video encoding, Image encryption and reconstruction are presented here.
Image Deblurring using L0 Sparse and Directional FiltersCSCJournals
Blind deconvolution refers to the process of recovering the original image from the blurred image when the blur kernel is unknown. This is an ill-posed problem which requires regularization to solve. The naive MAP approach for solving the blind deconvolution problem was found to favour no-blur solution which in turn led to its failure. It is noted that the success of the further developed successful MAP based deblurring methods is due to the intermediate steps in between, which produces an image containing only salient image structures. This intermediate image is essentially called the unnatural representation of the image. L0 sparse expression can be used as the regularization term to effectively develop an efficient optimization method that generates unnatural representation of an image for kernel estimation. Further, the standard deblurring methods are affected by the presence of image noise. A directional filter incorporated as an initial step to the deblurring process makes the method efficient to be used for blurry as well as noisy images. Directional filtering along with L0 sparse regularization gives a good kernel estimate in spite of the image being noisy. In the final image restoration step, a method to give a better result with lesser artifacts is incorporated. Experimental results show that the proposed method recovers a good quality image from a blurry and noisy image.
The document describes an image fusion approach that uses adaptive fuzzy logic modeling for global processing followed by Markov random field modeling for local processing.
It begins by introducing image fusion and its applications. It then discusses existing fusion approaches and their limitations. The proposed approach first uses an adaptive fuzzy logic model to minimize redundant information globally. It then applies Markov random field modeling locally for fusion. Experimental results showed the proposed approach improved the universal image quality index by 30-35% compared to fusion with Markov random field modeling alone.
Survey on Image Integration of Misaligned ImagesIRJET Journal
The document discusses methods for integrating misaligned images to improve image quality under low lighting conditions. It reviews previous works that combine images like flash/no-flash pairs to transfer details and color, but have limitations when images are misaligned. The paper proposes a new method using a long-exposure image and flash image that introduces a local linear model to transfer color while maintaining natural colors and high contrast, without deteriorating contrast for misaligned pairs. It concludes that handling misaligned images remains a challenge with existing methods and further work is needed.

The majority of applications requiring high resolution images to derive and analyze data
accurately and easily. Image super resolution is playing an effective role in those applications.
Image super resolution is the process of producing high resolution image from low resolution
image. In this paper, we study various image super resolution techniques with respect to the
quality of results and processing time. This comparative study introduces a comparison between
four algorithms of single image super-resolution. For fair comparison, the compared algorithms
are tested on the same dataset and same platform to show the major advantages of one over the
others.
A Pattern Classification Based approach for Blur Classificationijeei-iaes
Blur type identification is one of the most crucial step of image restoration. In case of blind restoration of such images, it is generally assumed that the blur type is known prior to restoration of such images. However, it is not practical in real applications. So, blur type identification is extremely desirable before application of blind restoration technique to restore a blurred image. An approach to categorize blur in three classes namely motion, defocus, and combined blur is presented in this paper. Curvelet transform based energy features are utilized as features of blur patterns and a neural network is designed for classification. The simulation results show preciseness of proposed approach.
Novel Iterative Back Projection ApproachIOSR Journals
This document presents a novel iterative back projection approach for single image super resolution. The approach combines iterative back projection with an infinite symmetrical exponential filter to improve edge preservation. Iterative back projection can minimize reconstruction error through back projecting errors iteratively but suffers from ringing and chessboard effects without edge guidance. The infinite symmetrical exponential filter provides edge smoothing by adding high frequency information. The proposed approach integrates these methods by back projecting the error and high frequency components estimated from the exponential filter. This improves visual quality with fine edge details compared to other interpolation methods. Simulation results on different image types show the approach achieves higher peak signal to noise ratios than existing methods.

The objective of this paper is to present the hybrid approach for edge detection. Under this technique, edge
detection is performed in two phase. In first phase, Canny Algorithm is applied for image smoothing and in
second phase neural network is to detecting actual edges. Neural network is a wonderful tool for edge
detection. As it is a non-linear network with built-in thresholding capability. Neural Network can be trained
with back propagation technique using few training patterns but the most important and difficult part is to
identify the correct and proper training set.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

ABSTRACT
Many improvements on image enhancemen have been achieved by The Non-negativity And Support
constraints Recursive Inverse Filtering (NAS-RIF) algorithm. The Deterministic constraints such as non
negativity, known finite support, and existence of blur invariant edges are given for the true image. NAS-
RIF algorithms iterative and simultaneously estimate the pixels of the true image and the Point Spread
Function (PSF) based on conjugate gradients method. NAS-RIF algorithm doesn’t assume parametric
models for either the image or the blur, so we update the parameters of conjugate gradient method and the
objective function for improving the minimization of the cost function and the time for execution. We
propose a different version of linear and nonlinear conjugate gradient methods to obtain the better results
of image restoration with high PSNR.

1. INTRODUCTION
In image restoration field, A prior information such as the PSF of the imaging system and the
observation noise [1]. When the blur effect is yielded on the objects, the PSF and the observation
noise are unknown a priori. The identification and the restoration of the blurred images is a
challenging problem in the world. The algorithm based on NAS-RIF [2,3] is proposed in order to
identify and restore the images.
The scene which consists of a finite support object against a uniformly black, grey, or white
background has been restored by The NAS-RIF technique. The restoration algorithm of NAS-RIF
includes Recursive filtering of the blurred image to reduce a convex cost function.
The different versions of linear and nonlinear conjugate gradient methods are used for
minimization of the NAS-RIF cost function. The conjugate gradient depends on gradient of an
image at determine parameters. We update the CG’s parameter and compare the results to

parameters show that the restoration effect is improved obviously.

2. HISTORICAL REVIEW
2.1 Image Restoration
Most of images can be modeled by using the standard degradation model as the following:
݃ሺ,ݔ ݕሻ = ℎሺ,ݔ ݕሻ ∗ ݂ሺ,ݔ ݕሻ + ߟሺ,ݔ ݕሻ ሺ1ሻ
Where,
1- ሺ,ݔ ݕሻ discrete pixel coordinate of the image
2- ݃ሺ,ݔ ݕሻ image which has been blurred
3- ݂ሺ,ݔ ݕሻ original image
4- ℎሺ,ݔ ݕሻ the point spread function (PSF)
5- ߟሺ,ݔ ݕሻ additive noise
6- 2ܦ convolution operator
The above model shows that the degraded image݃ሺ,ݔ ݕሻ, the original image݂ሺ,ݔ ݕሻ, and the noise
ߟሺ,ݔ ݕሻ, are linearly combined and as a result the linear image restoration problem is the
problem of retrieving the image from degraded image.
The form of bandwidth reduction of an ideal image owing to the imperfect image formation
process is known as blurring. Relative motion between the camera and the original scene, or an
optical system that is out of focus is caused this problem. Atmospheric turbulence, aberrations in
the optical system and relative motion between the camera and the ground are caused blurs when
aerial photographs are produced for remote sensing purposes. The optical images are not the only
example of blurring, for example spherical aberrations of the electron lenses corrupted the
electron micrographs, and X-ray scatter corrupted the CT scans suffer.

In addition to these blurring effects, any recorded image has been corrupted by noise. The
medium may introduce the noise through which the image is created (random absorption or
scatter effects), by the recording medium (sensor noise), by measurement errors because of the
limited accuracy of the recording system, and by quantization of the data for digital storage.
The reconstruction or estimation of the uncorrupted image from a blurred and noisy one is
concerned by the field of image restoration which also known as image deconvolution or image
deblurring. Essentially, the inverse of the imperfections in the image formation system operation
is performed on the image by the image restoration. A priori information are known about the
characteristics of the degrading system and the noise in the use of image restoration methods. In
practical situations, however, one may not be able to obtain this information directly from the
image formation process. blur identification aims at estimating the attributes of the imperfect
imaging system from the observed degraded image itself prior to the restoration process. The
blind image deconvolution is combination of image restoration and blurs identification [4].
The purpose of the blind image deconvolution[5] is to obtain a reliable and effective estimate for
the original image from the degraded version. To achieve this task, we use the partial information
about the imaging process as a reference to deconvolve the true image and the PSF from the
blurred image.
Existing blind deconvolution[6] methods include:
1) A priori blur identification methods.
2) Zero sheet separation methods.
3) ARMA parameter estimation methods.
4) Nonparametric methods.
A priori blur identification methods perform the blind deconvolution by identifying the PSF prior
to the restoration. Typically, the PSF to be of a known parametric form is assumed by these
methods. The unknown associated parameters must determine before restoration. For certain
PSFs, the frequency-domain zeros of the PSFs determine the parameters uniquely. Once the zeros
of Hሺu, vሻ are identified, the parameters associated with hሺx, yሻ can be estimated accordingly.
The a priori blur identification methods are relatively simple to achieve and require low
computational complexity. But they have three major drawbacks. (1) They require the knowledge
of the form of the PSF. (2) some PSFs (such as Gaussian PSF) simply don’t have frequency
zeros. (3) Additive noise can mask the frequency-domain nulls of and then degrade the
performance. The lack of sufficient 2D polynomial algebra is one of the difficulty problems in
the blind deconvolution.
The zero sheet separation algorithm [7] is such a factorization scheme. The valuable insight into
the blind deconvolution problems in multiple dimensions is provided by the method of zero sheet
separation. However, it suffers from several major problems. The First problemof this method is
highly sensitive to noise. The Second problem, the method is prone to inaccuracy for larger
images.
The true image as an autoregressive (AR) process and the PSF as a moving average (MA)
process are modeled by Blind deconvolution using ARMA parameters estimation. The blurred
image is therefore modeled as the autoregressive moving average (ARMA) process. The
advantage of the ARMA parameter estimation methods is that they are less sensitive to noise
because the models already take into account the noise. The major problem of these methods has
the risk of ill-convergence to local minima. In addition, the total number of parameters cannot be

very large for practical computations. Usually, the restoration by these methods is not uniquely
decided unless additional assumptions are made about the PSFs. They are therefore referred to as
the nonparametric methods. Belongs to this category, there exist many algorithms including:
1) Iterative blind deconvolution (IBD) method.
2) Simulated Annealing (SA) method.
3) Nonnegativity and support constraints recursive inverse filtering (NAS-RIF).
In this paper, we consider the following details about the imaging process, the true image, and the
PSF:
1- The linear model of the degradation as shown in Figure 1.
2- The grey, black, or white background of the image is uniformly.
3- A priori such as the nonnegative of the true image and its support; the smallest
rectangle encompassing the object of interest known as the support (the region of
support shown in Figure 2).
4- The inverse of the PSF exists, and both the PSF and its inverse are absolutely
summable.
5- When the image background is black, the sum of all PSF pixels is assumed to be
positive, which occurs in almost all image processing applications.
2.2 NAS-RIF Algorithm
The assumption of non negativity on the true image is marked by NAS-RIF algorithm [8] that is,
the algorithm supposes the true image pixel intensity values will be nonnegative. The knowledge
of a known support is as well assumed. The only assumptions made on the PSF however, is that it
is absolutely summable and that it has an inverse ℎିଵ
ሺ,ݔ ݕሻ which is also absolutely summable.
This method has an advantage is that it does not require the PSF to be of known finite extent, as
do the other methods; this information is often difficult to get. The NAS-RIF algorithm is shown
in Figure 3. It consists of a variable FIR Filter uሺx, yሻ with the blurred image gሺx, yሻ as input. The
estimation of the true image ݂መሺ,ݔ ݕሻ. Represents the output of this filter this estimate is passed
through a nonlinear filter, which uses a non-expansive mapping to project the estimated image
into the space representing the known characteristics of the true image. The error signal to update

the variable represents filter uሺx, yሻ the difference between the projected image ݂ேሺ,ݔ ݕሻ and
݂ሺ,ݔ ݕሻ.
If the image assumes to be nonnegative with known support, the NL block of Figure 3 shows the
projection of the estimated image onto the set of images that are nonnegative with given finite
support. Then, the negative pixel values within the region of support must be zero, and the
background grey-level, ܮ ݅ݏ the pixel values outside the region of support. The cost function ܬ
used in the restoration procedure is defined as:

Where ܦ௦௨ suppose to be the set of all pixels inside the region of support, and ܦഥ௦௨ suppose to
be the set of all pixels outside the region of support. Replace fመ in equation (2) leads to

sum of all the PSF coefficients assumed to be positive,i.e.

Also the filtering doesn't cause any loss of total image intensity because the sum of inverse filter
coefficients is supposed to be 1, the only method for constraining the parameters is normalized

function which known as a penalty method. The overall function is then represented by

The cost function consists of three components. The negative pixels of the image estimate inside
the region of support has been affected by The first component, the pixels of the image estimate
outside the region of support that are not equal to the background color have been affected by the
second component. The first component inhibits the pixels of the intermediate restorations from
becoming highly negative. The detail algorithm is shows in Algorithm (1).
