PRESENTATION ON
“FARM POND AND ITS COST ESTIMATION”
•It is excavated below ground level to harvest,
filter and store the water for short period
1) FARM POND
2) SUNKEN POND
3) DUG OUT POND(DOP)
1) FPONDARM :-
 It may be made on 5-10% total farmer
land.
2) SUNKEN POND:-
 It is dug for purpouse of infiltration of water
into ground .
 Its normaly dug at gully course.
3) DUG OUT POND:-
• Pond dug adjacent to the drainage line to
store water.
 To harvest and store the rain water.
 To divert the water from drainage line
and store in ponds.
 To provide life irrigation facility to plants
crop.
 For the water availibility to livestock
during non rainy seasoon.
 For fish production.
 In common property resourcess.
 In the incultivated land.
 In the agricultural fields where farmer are
willing.
 A DOP should be made in a farm or near
to it so that protection can be given to
crope in needy period.
 Along the stream where the stream is flat
and space available to excavate the pond
 At the site where DOP built should not
have slope more than 2%.
 DOP is built where watershed area
should not more than 5 hectare.

F. Dry stone packing for key trench
Main pond
 Its use for store the water.
Inlet
 Its place from where water comes in to
the main pond.
Outlet
 Its use for remove excess water from
main pond.
Silt trap
 Its use for trap the cut soil which comes
from the upstream side so its help to
maintain the storage capacity of the main
pond.
Key trench
 Its provide stability for pitching of main
pond
Dry stone packing for key trench
 Stone size:- 9 inches(225mm)
 Mark the layout
 Excavation for main pond , silt trap , inlet
and out let
 Made the bund
 Stone revetment for inlet , outlet and silt
trap

FARM POND DESIGN AND ITS COST ESTIMATION

  • 2. •It is excavated below ground level to harvest, filter and store the water for short period
  • 3. 1) FARM POND 2) SUNKEN POND 3) DUG OUT POND(DOP)
  • 4. 1) FPONDARM :-  It may be made on 5-10% total farmer land.
  • 5. 2) SUNKEN POND:-  It is dug for purpouse of infiltration of water into ground .  Its normaly dug at gully course.
  • 6. 3) DUG OUT POND:- • Pond dug adjacent to the drainage line to store water.
  • 7.  To harvest and store the rain water.  To divert the water from drainage line and store in ponds.  To provide life irrigation facility to plants crop.  For the water availibility to livestock during non rainy seasoon.  For fish production.
  • 8.  In common property resourcess.  In the incultivated land.  In the agricultural fields where farmer are willing.  A DOP should be made in a farm or near to it so that protection can be given to crope in needy period.  Along the stream where the stream is flat and space available to excavate the pond
  • 9.  At the site where DOP built should not have slope more than 2%.  DOP is built where watershed area should not more than 5 hectare.
