Familiar Essay Topics
Writing an essay on the topic of "Familiar Essay Topics" might seem deceptively easy at first
glance, as it appears to offer a broad canvas for exploration. However, the challenge lies in
navigating the fine line between maintaining a casual, conversational tone (characteristic of
familiar essays) and providing meaningful insights into the chosen topics.
The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between personal anecdotes and universal
themes. It requires the writer to seamlessly weave their experiences, observations, and reflections
into a narrative that engages the reader while also addressing broader subjects. This delicate
equilibrium is often easier said than done, as it demands a deep understanding of the chosen
topics and the ability to convey that understanding in an accessible manner.
Furthermore, the term "familiar" in familiar essays implies a sense of intimacy and personal
connection. This means that the writer must be willing to open up, sharing their thoughts and
experiences in a way that resonates with the audience. Achieving this level of intimacy while
maintaining a level of professionalism in the writing can be challenging.
Another hurdle in writing an essay on familiar topics is avoiding clichГ©s and tired tropes.
Given that familiar essays often explore common, everyday experiences, there's a risk of falling
into the trap of predictable narratives. Originality and a fresh perspective are key to keeping the
reader engaged and making the essay stand out.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on familiar topics demands a nuanced approach that balances
personal expression with broader insights. It requires skill in storytelling, a keen understanding of
the chosen subjects, and the ability to connect with readers on a personal level. Despite its
challenges, successfully navigating these intricacies can result in a compelling essay that captures
the essence of everyday life.
If you find yourself struggling with such assignments, it's worth considering seeking assistance.

Under Able Guidance of Mr. S.S. Soam Department of Computer Science
Engineering Institute of Engineering Technology, Lucknow Institute of Engineering
Technology Lucknow Abstract We propose a system that shall enable a SCHOOL
MANAGEMENT SYASTEM interfaced with a computer to be managed remotely
using personal computers. A client running on the user s computer would connect to
a central server, over an Internet connection. The user could then use a HTTP
protocol from a personal computer to connect to the central server, and issue
requests for borrowing books. In this report we describe a system the web enabled
software that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When people have a good connectivity at their disposal, with tremendous power of
distributed computing to supplement the same, we can think of connecting their
personal computers to the real world applications of managing school or any
institute . With this, people would be able to connect and disconnect, and manage
the handling of school at their home even from a distant place. One of the very
basic examples of a utility of this is there is no old file system now, every task is
now online. Students can deposit their school fees online now either by credit/debit
cards or by internet banking via bank gateway.Student registration will be
online,Hostel allotment,Mess bills,Libray management will all come under this. 1.1
Few Terms This Project is a web application developed for managing Institute of
Engineering Technology. This project will work as an interface between the
students and faculty members of the college . It will be able to keep the records of
all the students, their attendances, salaries of faculty members, mess bills of
students, data about hostels, and will allow them to register themselves on our site to
seek for the study materials from library even. This Project chiefly focuses on:

River Padma Personal Statement Of Purpose
River Padma, the biggest and most turbulent river of Bangladesh, is around twenty
kilometers from my village where I grew up listening about the accidents of
Steamer sinking (one kind of vessel that made locally and used to cross the river)
from my childhood. In later years I also had some real acute experience of Steamer
accidents. Every year around thousands of people lost their lives because of these
accidents which take place for several times in each year. Crossing river Padma is
must for the people of South Bangladesh as it is the only way to reach to the
capital city, Dhaka. In my childhood I just always asked myself why this type of
accident happens. We live in the ages of modern technology and people have
already explored the universe. So isn t it possible to make safe water vessels for
carrying people? This question revolved in my mind and it was the core point why I
chose Naval Architectureand Marine Engineeringas my expected subject in university
level.
In my academic life when I was getting familiar with shipbuilding, ship design I
really found these very interesting. In third year of my undergraduate life I was taught
some subjects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though I have interest and inclination in the subject, my lack of profound knowledge
seems to be detrimental in contributing significantly to the field of structural
engineering.
My undergraduate program has given me a wide and comprehensive exposure to
numerous courses that I found interesting namely, Mechanics of Structure; Ship
Structure; Motion and Control; Heat Transfer; Theory of Machines; Shipbuilding
Materials; Optimization etc. I strongly believe in learning practically by doing; it is
the hope of coming up with path breaking results through experimentation that I find

Introduction. Unions Have Played A Big Role In Protecting
Introduction Unions have played a big role in protecting employees, but we have
come a long way from the lessons we have learned of the past situations. In the 19th
century the US became a new world for immigrants to produce a new life, working
conditions required hard work, fighting, long hours for little pay, but most
importantly, the unsafe conditions and manual labor that was bestowed upon these
workers. This created labors to start a union, but there have been some major issues
that ended badly such as the Haymarket riot, the homestead strike, and the Pullman
strike, but it took these problems to form a better working conditions for the labor s.
We have learned from the past that employers try to get away with such acts, that laws

This riot was planned to be a peaceful riot for a strike on an 8 hour day, ended up
turning into a battle between protesters and the police. Before the Haymarket Riot,
there were unions formed such as the Knights of Labor and other unions, which
this riot ended up hurting them after. When these unions formed, they were
relatively radical since they included women, blacks, immigrants and unskilled
workers and for that they wanted workers to have more control over the factories
where they worked. Employers did not like this and did not want the employees to
have any control over the factories so this caused factories to close and people lost
their jobs. But when the strike began it was to be a peaceful strike that ended up a
battle between the police and strikers and loss of life. Homestead Strike The
Homestead strike was considered among one of the most violent labor disputes in
history as the union wanted contracts and Management locked out workers from
their jobs, which owners wanted to open up jobs to non union workers. The
Homestead Strike, however, was organized and purposeful, a harbinger of the type
of strike that would mark the modern age of labor relations in the United States
(Boundless, 2017). Owners were out to make profit so they ended up closing
factories and hired workers that were nonunion. You still see this today or if unions
strike, the company will bring in non union members to work, until a deal is made,
but what we learned in the past is hopefully
Episodic Memory In Fowler s The First Run-In Fern
Episodic memory is the ability to remember incidents in one individual s life with
detached information and then recall it later as conscious re experiences. It is said
that this trait is unique to humans, acting as a distinguishing criteria between human
beings and other animals. Many use this information to justify some of the studies
and experiments that use animals as subjects, such as the chimp raising studies like
the one written about in Fowler s we are all completely beside ourselves. However,
Fowler s character, Fern the chimp, displays the ability to remember pieces of her
early life with the Cooke family, and reacts to multiple family members later on the
novel. It is also no secret that animals who are rescued often show signs of PTSD,
occasionally having flashbacks when put in situations that remind them about their
life before rescue.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, Fern reacted in a slightly violent manner, grabbed Lowell and pulling him
against the bars and held Lowell s hand in her mouth. However when another one of
the chimps, a large male came over, Fern bit him and then endured numerous
wounds inflicted by him in what seemed like an effort to keep herself between the
male and Lowell. She signed to Lowell numerous things including that she was good
and that she wanted to be taken home. It finally took a cattle prod to get Fern to let
Lowell go, though she continued her signing, growing more and more
Themes In Amazing Grace
The film Amazing Grace tells the story of William Wilberforce a member of the
English Parliament in the late 18th century and the early 19th, with emphasis on his
passionate pursuit of abolishing the slave trade in England. This pursuit began in
earnest after having an encounter with God, which caused him to deliberate whether
to continue in politics or follow become a monk and live a life of solitude. John
Newton the priest of his childhood and the author of the song Amazing Grace
convinced him to serve God by serving in Parliament. I recommend this movie to
anyone interested in the abolitionist movement or someone looking for a model of
how to serve God while working outside of ministry. Two themes with a total of five
questions have been posed that relate to this movie and to life in general.
Theme: The First to Care
1.Among the first people to be heavily involved in the abolition movement in Great
Britain and the US were members of religious groups like the Quakers. Why do you
think this was so?
2.Why would this have been important to a young politician like Wilberforce and to
the world of politics itself?
Theme: What about you? Could you do it?
3.What skills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why do you think this was so? I pray also for those who will believe in me through
their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am
in you John 17:20 21 (International Bible Society, 1995, p. 842). This verse and
many like it were the driving force behind the Quakers changing from acceptance
of slavery to fighting to end it. The abolition campaign in Britain was started by the
Society of Friends, known as the Quakers. Quakers believe that all people are
created equal in the eyes of God. If this is the case, then how can one person own

The Effects Of The Forbidden City And The Forbidden City
A 7.8 Million square foot city, the Forbidden City home to 24 emperors was built by
the Ming Dynasty in the 15th century. Building such a massive palace and city calls
for many different ideas to build such city. This may consist of the symmetry of the
city, as well as the strategically placed palaces and homes throughout it. While the
Forbidden Citywas closed off too most people, anyone that did have the amazing
opportunity to enter the Forbidden City were thoroughly impressed by the
astonishing architecture and extravagant art work that filled the palaces to the
brim. Those that were allowed in were required to dismount their horses and
proceed on foot into the courtyard, where they were all greeted by the five marble
bridges giving them passage across what was called the Golden River. While the
Forbidden City has been built upon symmetry and power it also shows the
separation of the public and private sectors very well, and while this architecture is
quite extravagant it provides and shows different effects on the socialization
between the public and private sectors of the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City
has been built upon symmetry, shown in figure 1 the city is surrounded by a wall,
approximately 30 feet high. There is only one entrance and one exit, in the front of
the city, The Meridian Gate. Upon entering the Meridian Gate at the front of the
Forbidden City, a common area is presented to the guests, where a small river moves
quietly and peacefully throughout
Speech About Push-Up
Muscle up is an exciting movement to be seen and studied. But, do not
underestimate this one movement. Although already fluent perform such other
bodyweight pull up and dip, you will not necessarily succeed doing this movement
in one try, you know. Well, if you have already been to understand how to train and
strengthen the movement of pull ups, this time we will try to control the movement
of bodyweight is more difficult but prestigious, the muscle up. Let s consider the
following steps: Step 1. Pull Up Explosive Image credit: www.muscleandfitness.com
Image credit: www.muscleandfitness.com First of all, you should be able to do at
least 10 pull up perfectly before preparing to train the muscle up movement. It is
important to establish the form of pull ups are good as foundation up muscle
movement. If so, the next step is to make your pull up more quickly and explosively.

In order to do pull ups explosive, lift your body as fast and hard as possible using
the whole body to build up the force. After feeling this explosive style, try to
release your grip on the bar just at the peak of the movement. If you do not have
trouble, try clapping pull ups, ie clapping your hands at the top of the movement.
Later, pull ups you will be explosive enough to pull the body until your elbows at
the top of the bar. Thereafter, only a matter of time until you learn to put your
chest on the bar to the next step. Step 2. Dip the Bar Straight Image credit: www.t
nation.com Image credit: www.t nation.com As well as pull ups, you also have to
master the dip before you train the muscle up. Parallel bars used to train the dip is
not enough, you should try to dip over the bar straight. But, if you are accustomed
to dip in the parallel bars, you just need a bit of practice to master the dip over the bar
An Interview By Roger Ebert
An interview is a form of nonfiction a text that tells the truth. Do you think Jones is
being truthful in his observations of Roger Ebert? Do you Ebert is being truthful in
his statements about himself? Are you more likely to believe when someone else
says about a person or what the person says about himself or herself? Explain your
reasoning. I do not know anything about Roger Ebertbeyond these articles, but I
assume Jones is being truthful about his observations of Ebert. I do not believe
there is any reason to be anything, but truthful about his observations. Again, I do
not see any reason to not be truthful, so I am sure Ebert is being truthful as well
about himself. I think it depends on the person to believe what they have to say
about themselves opposed to what others may say because some people know
themselves more than others and might know who they are better than someone else,
but in other cases others may know the person more deeply than the person knows
themself, so I think it is just picking and choosing what you want to believe.
How are emotional pain and loss different from physical pain and loss? Can the
two be compared fairly? Emotional pain and loss lingers in people s minds and
often stays with them for a lifetime and can often cause distress on people s
character while physical pain and loss is strictly present I think because if you hurt
somewhere physically it is often temporary and if you lose a loved one on the
physical world that person s

Lab Report: Ohm s Law Series Circuits Introduction
Theory:
Ohm s law defines the relationship between three important electrical properties
namely: voltage, current and resistance. Mathematically, ohm s law is expressed as:
V=IR. By understanding the importance of conduction, one is able to determine the
total resistance and visualize how resistors are connected in parallel circuits. In
parallel connection, each resistor provides a separate path for current [I] so that the
total resistance of a parallel circuit is reduced as more resistors are connected in
parallel. In contrast, the resistance in series circuits increases when more resistors are
introduced into the circuit. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In effect, the resistor was aligned horizontally with the first end. A black wire
extension (from the negative polarity of the power supply) was connected vertically
from one end of the last resistor plugged into the first set of holes just below the
blue line albeit aligned differently from the red wire (Figure 1). Figure 1: Circuit

A digital multimeter was used to measure voltage by connecting it in parallel and
series with the components.
Analysis
Resistors connected in series are observed to share one current path. A breadboard
effectively builds a testing electrical and electronic system model. It also holds
electrical components together conveniently for practical applications.
Part 2: Measuring Resistors in Series A multimeter was connected across individual
resistors and resistance measurements were recorded. The multimeter was then
connected across all the resistors whereby measurements recorded. The values are
tabulated in Table 1:

Introduction
Information Technology Proposal
Kris Corporation is a prominent company that deal with manufacturing parts utilized
by the automotive industry. The organization s Active Domain infrastructure
comprises of two main domains. The parent domain is kris.local and the child domain
is corp.kris.local. The AD infrastructure of the organization is running on Server
2008. The company has five branches located in five cities namely, Chicago (IL),
Baltimore (MD), Atlanta (GA), Seattle (WA) and San Diego (CA). Its manufacturing
plants are located in Seattle and Atlanta.
Recently, the company has developed a number of concerns relating to its
information system. First, the corporation is concerned about adopting multiple
domains in its information systems. Secondly, some automobile manufacturing
companies have approached the corporation and requested it to use a single identity
in the process of procuring orders. Kris Corporation is also concerned with disaster
recovery of its systems and physical space of servers especially at the Atlanta branch
since it is the corporation s headquarter. File sharing is also a big concern to the
company since the locations are connected to the internet independently.
This proposal focuses on identifying and analyzing various changes in the information
technology department of the company and developing solution recommendations for
information technology problems experienced by the company. The proposal will
discuss various benefits the corporation will acquire from updating and changing the
current information systems to the modern systems.

Evaluation of the Usefulness of Selected Examples of...
Within this paper, I shall evaluate the usefulness of selected examples of Foucault s
theories from a feminist perspective. To begin, a short introduction will outline the
era in which Foucault wrote, as this has been seen as influential to his work,
inspiring him to move away from the former ideological ways of thinking about the
world (Taylor and Vintges 2004, Mills 1997). I shall then go on to consider the
changing nature of feminism, which has moved on from viewing patriarchy and men
as the oppressors of women, and is persistently developing more complex analyses
of the ways in which gendered power relations operate. I wish to discuss the ways in
which Foucault s theorisation of power and his methodology of discourseanalysis
have been... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Foucault felt it necessary to dispense with ideologies such as socialism, communism
and liberalism, which had all made claims to absolute truth and which had resulted
in widespread devastation (Taylor and Vintges 2004: 2). Foucault s work focussed
on the ways in which power operates throughout society. In his earlier work this was
on the ways in which societies govern their subjects; his later focus was on the ways
in which humans are subjectified within society, and the ways in which conduct is
guided by self governance (Mills 2003). He wanted to move beyond an analysis of
behaviours and ways of thinking that relied on the concept of ideology, and
throughout his work he highlighted the oppressive function of truths and the effects
of norms , when they are adopted unquestioned and uncritically (Mills 1997:30).
Although Foucault openly refused the label of sociologist, poststructuralist, or
postmodernist, his work has been aligned with these disciplines, and he has had a
significant impact within these schools of thought (Smart 2002).
Traditional feminist theorisation focussed on the notion of patriarchy, that male
dominated society serves the needs of men, while oppressing women (Walby
1990). However, the view that all men oppress all women is now widely seen as
inaccurate and oversimplified. While some women are indeed victims of male
oppression, this is not the case for all women, as some may be in positions in which
they exert
The Rule Of The Franciscan Order
The Rule of the Franciscan Order
Francis of Assisi is an icon of poverty and reform in the Catholic Church, because
his lifestyle encouraged the Church and especially the hierarchy of his time to
change almost entirely. He can be perceived as a prophet of his time who
revolutionized from his very being a drastic change, because with his life as an
example he went from words to actions. Francis was born into a wealthy family in
Assisi; he had everything a boy of his time could ask for. Francis experienced some
time alone in a prison cell, it was after that time that he begins to feel dissatisfaction
with kind of life he was living and began to grow a spiritual maturation.
Francis received a revelation about his mission and found that the key to his life was
his uncompromising attempt to imitate Christ through absolute poverty, humility and
simplicity.
Medieval Sourcebook: The Rule of the Franciscan Order is a source found at
Fordham University online sourcebooks. The source has as the main focus The
Rule of the Franciscan Order . It gives details in regards to the history of the
founding of the order and what was the major contribution of St. Francis in
establishing the order of the lesser brothers . St. Francis was the lead figure which
made him a venerable personality in the Middle Ages. The Franciscan order was
founded by St. Francis of Assisi. Although there were other movements created at the
time, almost unwittingly Francis became the leader of this Christian
Leo The Lion
Leo the Lion is a horoscope animal and famous constellation. The word Leo means
lion in Latin. But not everyone sees a lion in those stars. The Incas of Peru see a
puma and the Chinese see a horse. But to the Greeks it was a lion. To locate Leo,
look for a backward question mark and a triangle. The question mark is called the
sickle or scythe and is the front of Leo. The dot of the question mark is the star
Regulus. First find the Big Dipper in the constellation Ursa Major (The Great
Bear). It will lead to Regulus. Find the two stars near the handle of the Big Dipper.
Make a straight line through the Bear s paws. The line should hit the first star in Leo
s shoulder. Keep going and the line will hit Regulus. This star is 100 times brighter
The Problem Of Desertification
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE CONCERNS Desertification is an environmental
and socio economic problem. Environmental justice is characterized by the equal
sharing of risks and benefits, distributed equally without discrimination. The land
affected falls in rural areas beyond the mainland which are primarily occupied by
non Han ethnic minorities. These areas include the autonomous regions of Inner
Mongolia, Xinjiang, and Tibet, which have historically been oppressed. The social
component of the problem creates a cycle in which poverty exacerbates
desertification, and in turn, desertification aggravates poverty. The cycle will
continue until the wellbeing of people living in desertified areas is considerably
improved to the point where they no longer rely on degraded land for survival.
Only then will they be able to limit their impact on desertified land. Chen and Tang
further explain For degraded land, withdrawal of farmlands and enclosing pastures in
order to exclude grazing are undoubtedly the most effective ways to prevent further
desertification. These measures would deprive local people of their sole livelihood.
Attempts to reduce desertification have neglected the human component of the
problem. As a solution, Wang et al. suggest that outward migration with a carefully
considered relocation policy is an important choice for desertified areas that are
judged to be beyond ecological carrying capacity. Miao et al. echo this idea,
explaining that reclamation efforts
Becoming A Dancer
The life of a dancer
In 1938 Jerome Robbins stated that the dance industry is plagued with difficulties
after his poor experiences with the Dance Centre, linking to this I will be
discussing whether these difficulties have been addressed or if they are still
prominent in the life of a dancer today. To do this I will be comparing the lifestyles
of performers from a range of different styles, to see what boundaries they face and
how they differentiate to one another.
To have the life of a dancer it is important to become established in the industry, after
looking at case studies from the Royal Ballet I have discovered a correlation,
displaying that a dancer is to start at the bottom and then needs to get noticed to
progress.

However if we go back to the statement above suggesting that jobs are based on a
person s reputation, my concern is would they risk speaking out if they are being
over worked or paid inadequately. I would not commit to a solely performance based
carrier in dance as it would give me little financial stability, the career project
supports this by stating only a small percentage of dancers can actually find steady
work in this area . This is dependent on the type of contract the dancer was given as a
long term contracts offers stability for a longer time period, however to achieve this
a dancer must secure a position in dance companies such as The Royal Ballet or
motion house and short term contracts are more a accessible.
I feel that to live the life of a dancer the vital thing to have determination to battle
many of the obstacles they will be facing, as it is clear that dance is in a low
ranked compared to other art forms as a professional dancer falls into the category
of a highly skilled, sought after employee in a high risk profession but yet is still not
paid as much as an actor who has a stunt double to perform any parts deemed
dangerous .Despite these setbacks a dancer should always remember why they got
into dance in the first place and let that be their momentum to push them further in

A Sense Of Hopelessness And Sufferance Therapy
They don t have a clue what to do...the system is just full of major disparities
(Neumann, 2012, para. 1). With a sense of hopelessness and sufferance, Alena
Neumann expresses her feelings about health care and its under reported gaps in
mental health services for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT)
population. Many LGBT persons experience a life of torment and cruelty which leads
to adverse outcomes that commonly begin during adolescence and transpire into
adulthood. Dating back to the 1950s and 1960s, LGBT persons were thought by
mental healthprofessionals to be suffering from a mental illness; solely due to their
sexual identity. This often led to adverse treatment against their will such as: forced
hospitalization, aversion therapy, and electroshock therapy (NAMI, 2016). These
experiences result in isolation, embedded trauma, and self hatred, which have been
linked to the development of mental health disorders. A Boynton Health Service
(2012) survey reports more than 43 percent of gay and lesbian students have been
identified having three or more mental health stressors in comparison to almost a
quarter of heterosexual students. Additionally, a study conducted by Largent (2012)
echoes these disparities, finding 44 percent of LGBT adults reported having ever
been diagnosed with depression, almost twice that of heterosexual adults. These
outcomes and findings speaks volumes to the mental health disparities experienced
by this population and creates a
What Factors During The Colonial Period Essay
ESSAY QUESTION:
What factors during the colonial period led to American colonists declaring
independence from the British Empire? Be sure to discuss the economic, political,
and cultural aspects of the American Revolution.
PROVISIONAL HYPOTHESIS:
The structure of America revolution to address a various issue, which has great
impact on America It, was the procedure where the thirteen colonies of North America
became independent of Great Britain also then formed a new integrated government.
The major reasons of America revolution are cultural, economic and political.

SUB SECTIONS:
The Americans fought beside the British for a figure of reasons, but the mainly
important reason was economic in nature. The American Revolution was fought for
diverse ideas that were significant in those times. The economy in America was not
the greatest, and people had to sustain all the instructions from Great Britain as this
was their home country. Consequently, the British prohibited the economy of North
America. Several Americans thought that the British were building injustices through
the American economy and this was the major reason for the revolution. The
American Revolution had their standard figures in the moderate people, who thought
that Great Britain was doing prejudices within the colonies. One of the liberal
citizen s major points was never supposed that everybody should be the same
economically (McKay 692). The difference connecting rich as well as poor in esteem
The Coming Anarchy, by Robert D. Kaplan
Robert D. Kaplan s article The Coming Anarchy, is best summarized by the following
quote, which identifies the different factors that he evaluates throughout his article,
To understand the events of the next fifty years, then, one must understand
environmental scarcity, cultural and racial clash, geographic destiny, and the
transformation of war. (Kaplan, 1994) This is the framework that he uses to make
his supporting arguments and thus this summary will be broken down into these
four main parts. One of the major points that Kaplan makes and he focuses on

As we have seen recently within Egypt and Libya it s the Generation Z that are the
ones who are most connected and spurring these social changes that Kaplan had
predicted uncannily. Even though both these countries had a substantially large
standing army the shear size of those involved within the revolt minimized any
significant advantage that those in control had. Even though many within our
culture have access to technology on a daily basis it is greatly unavailable to the
majority of the world especially in those areas that are the most affected by these
cultural clashes. As technology becomes more readily available expect social
change to stem from online engagement in which people will be able to rally
behind anonymity to push social change forward. Geographic destiny as laid out
by Kaplan is going to play a major part in the change of the traditional political
map. We can many examples of this as front page news involving the conflict
between Palestine and Israel as well as the Shiite and Sunni conflict. Like we
discussed in class the political map rarely follows any cultural groupings but instead
is deceptive in that without extreme nationalism there is little keeping the populace
of a country in place. We see many internally displaced people fleeing from conflict or
My Organizational Culture Workshop Model
This paper references the Using Biblical Insights And Leadership To Understand And
Improve Your Organizational Culture workshop model. This paper will introduce,
give foundational support for, and walk through the workshop.
Workshop
The intent of this workshop is to help individuals better understand the value of
understanding their organization s culture, how to effectively apply culture change,
and biblical foundations for culture change and leadership during said process. These
topics are importance today because of the tumultuous and rapidly changing
environment that organizations operate within (Hughes, Beatty, Dinwoodie, 2005).
These topics create a strategic mindset for leaders to recognize their current and
desired culture and make the correct steps toward lasting success.
Foundations for the Workshop Because of the world today, Hughes wrote, the best
way for organizations to thrive in the face of this new reality is to become continual
learning engines (Hughes et al., 2005, pg. 3). One of the ways an organization can
become a learning engine is to understand their own culture. This creates direction,
alignment and commitment for the organization as it moves in its desired direction.
This pushes an organization to become agile and resilient, which allow an
organization to meet the demands of a competitive environment (Hughes et al.,
2005). A reason agile organizations need to be able to change culturally is because it
supports the overhead decisions made by
Court Report Essay

The courts of the United Kingdom are institutions there are aim justice to all and

cases along with justice to all . Never the less either convicting someone for
unlawful activity or resolving a civil dispute, the British legal system employs a
variety of courts in its application of the law. It much reminds me of my home
country the United States the different level of courts I mean. Magistrates courts

Due to the late arrival of the defendant, the defense barrister had to apologies on his
behalf, resulting in the judge sanctioning him custody during lunchtime. I was
surprise that see that judge did not say anything more, I am use to judges in
America to be very cross with any party that arrived to the trail late. I had once
witness seen a judge delayed the trail to another day for the lateness of the defense.
But the judge only sanction him so I figure that this may happen more than once.
The defendant s tardiness, as well as his demeanor very nonchalant in court, made
him appear to be unconcerned with the fact that he was on trial. At one point I
thought he was going to fall asleep. This definitely had an impact on his impression
on the jurors as they did not seem happy with his behavior and neither was the judge.
Once the jurors had been sworn in, the prosecuting barrister began with her opening
statement. She reminded the jury of their role, which was to weight up the evidence
in order to decide on the facts of the case. In comparison, the role of the judge was
to interpret the law and direct the jury accordingly. Although there was reference to
statute when the defendant was read his charge, the remainder of the trial was less
concerned with the law and more focused on establishing the facts of the case. The
prosecution called 3 witnesses in total, all of which were police officers. Once they
arrived in the witness stand, they were asked to swear an oath.
What Makes Canada A Good Global Citizen
Something that makes a Canadian a good global citizen is that Canadians support
other countries by helping low income countries and countries that are in the middle
of a crisis or disaster funding. Canada has a good economy and is therefore able to
help poor countries recover from poverty and suffering.
For example Canada provides financial aid of one hundred and eighty six million
dollars towards Ethiopia and many other countries are supported with over one
hundred million dollars such as Afghanistan, the Philippines, Syria and many other
countries. Canada has been distributing money, and goods and services to other
countries in need since the 1950 s. Canada had started providing aid to other
countries following the Second World War, and
TV Watching Impact E-Commerce
The article To buy or not to buy: how increased TV watching impacts e commerce
shows how changes in television viewership and online streaming have affected
marketing strategies. With the increased use of internet streaming, cable television is
quickly diminishing and is forcing a change in how marketing strategies are targeting
various audiences.
While television continues to be one of the top forms of entertainment, the methods
to view television programs are evolving due to new devices. Currently, 83% of
consumers watch television broadcasts at least once a week, however, more people
are beginning to use mobile devices to stream videos and television programs.
Approximately 63% of consumers have indicated that online streaming is more
convenient as they are able to watch what they want when it is best for them. The
number of consumers using mobile devices to watch various types of online
streaming is continuing to grow. The increase in mobile device usage is not limited
to the younger generations, about 41% of 65 69 age group have shifted from
television to watching YouTube. Additionally, over the past several years, about 12%
of television viewers have reduced their televisions packages while an another 11%

The Applications Of The Iot
Whether one is a student or a teacher, he/she will not go through a school day
without being exposed to a device connected to the Internet. The applications of the
IoT in education are endless, and the results are extremely favorable for the student,
teacher, and the university. For example, the emergence of the IoT allows schools to
enhance access to information, keep track of key information and resources, and
improve the safety of their campuses [5]. Professors can spend anywhere from 12 14
hours in a day teaching, working with individual students, and/or grading assignments
and tests. The surge in connected IoT devices does not require professors to manually
grade assignments; therefore, they are provided extra time to use as they please.
Also, devices connected to the cloud allow professors to gather information on their
students; this data can then be used for two things. First, the data acknowledges
which students require the most individual attention, need, and care. Second, teachers
can adjust their teaching strategies or lesson plans for future classes by analyzing the
received data. From a student standpoint, IoT devices and applications allow the
student to capture notes quickly and effectively, eliminating the time to manually
write the notes; this allows the student to focus on the lecture that is being presented
[5]. The transportation sector can also be loosely connected from an education
standpoint. Using IoT devices, students can keep track of buses and
Gathering Blue Character Analysis
Take pride in your pain, her mother had always told her. You are stronger than those
who have none (22 23). Kira, the main character in Lois Lowry s book, Gathering
Blue, has always known pain (23). Her father had been killed by beasts before she
was born and she was born with a twisted leg that makes it terribly painful for her to
walk and labels her as a disabled person which is the same as useless and
unvaluable in her society (4). There is absolutely no question that she has
experienced pain (4). The only question is how much worse could get for her. What
else could go wrong? Well, as it turns out, a lot. When the book opens, Kira is left
without a mother due to sickness, with only one friend, Matt, an ordinary young boy

The elements were used well in this story, but because the story was set in such a
different culture, it was hard to recognize those elements being used. For example,
one of the elements of fantasy is that there is a death involved or the storyline
includes a threat or danger, which are both true about this book. In the middle,
Annabella dies (133). Kira is very surprised at this death and wonders if it wasn t
an accident (141). This book also includes a threat or danger physically and
futuristically. Kira fears the alleged beasts that could physically hurt her and
towards the end, Kira fears her Jamison the power he has and what he is doing
with it which could harm her future (123). During the parts describing Kira s
weaving talent and how it just comes to her, the reader may wonder if that is just
her imagination, when it is really in her brain the whole time (45). This is another
important element used wisely for this story because the reader can understand Kira
s confusion at her weaving talent, the reader can understand why she doesn t even
believe it herself because they have a hard time believing it. Although, it really did
come to her magically, and the reader s skepticality mirrors Kira s own, in a way so
that the reader understands her feelings (29). Another element that was used greatly
throughout the story, was symbolism. For example, the Fen symbolized poverty, and

Comparing the Women in Dubliners, A Portrait of the...
Characterization of Women in Dubliners, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man,

Joyce s depiction of women is characterized by a high degree of literary self
consciousness, perhaps even more so than in the rest of his work. The self
consciousness emerges as an awareness of both genre and linguistic expectations.
contrasting highly self conscious, isolated literary men (or men with literary
aspirations) with women who follow more romantic models, even stereotypes. In

A Painful Case is built on clichГ©s. The story of a misanthropic bachelor who
meets an emotionally frustrated wife, develops a bond, then recoils at intimacy
could not be more formulaic; she even dies of sudden failure of the heart s action
(114). The irony is clear the suddenness really took place four years earlier. Joyce
wrote Dubliners to appeal to both a mass audience and scholars, and A Painful
Case seems particularly driven to the popular reader and, with its tale of
unrequited love, to female readers. James Duffy is skeptical and irritated by
exactly this kind of bland, superficial writing: She asked him why did he not write
out his thoughts. For what, he asked her, with careful scorn. To compete with
phrasemongers, incapable of thinking consecutively for sixty seconds? To submit
himself to the criticisms of an obtuse middle class which entrusted its morality to
policemen and its fine arts to impresarios? (111) Joyce both launches into self
criticism and evades it; by critiquing the method he employs, he demonstrates a self
awareness that lifts his work beyond this middle class production. Duffy, too,
practices this self awareness in conjunction with Joyce. At the end of a token
biographical paragraph, all delivered in the third person past tense, we learn this
tidbit: He had an odd autobiographical habit which led him to compose in his mind
from time to time a short sentence about himself containing a

to unravel his confusion for integrity when the fate of his perfect public and private
life become indistinct. Lord Goring influences Sir Chiltern s outlooks by airily
stating everyone has some weak point. There is some flaw in each of us and that he
must begin by telling your wife the whole thing (2.1). Lord Goring explains that Sir
Chiltern should not be easily influenced by aristocratic morality and accept his

Social Differentiation And Separation Of Latin American...
Cities have been traditionally seen as the breeding grounds for citizenship, the latter
usually framed in terms of dwellers having specific rights, duties, some sort of
political participation and frequent interactions with each other. Yet, urbanization can
also present many challenges that further disenfranchise and marginalize residents.
As the most urbanized region in the world, Latin American cities highlight both of
these sceneries. Industrialization and neoliberal economic policies led to the
continent s rapid urbanization, introducing large developments but also deeply
segregated urban centers, characterised by strong tensions between their formal and
informal dimensions. Latin American leaders efforts to tackle this issue have
presented both setbacks and opportunities to transform the cityinto a more integrated
space, and set the path to recognize every dwellers right to the city: to be in it, to
enjoy it, and to build it.
Social differentiation and separation have been frequent characteristics of Latin
American cities, in both physical, psychological and cultural terms. As Teresa
Caldeira indicates in City of Walls, the pattern of segregation in Latin America
traditionally obeyed the center periphery model where the middle and upper classes
lived in legalized neighborhood in the center of the cities, while the poor inhabited
the mostly illegal precarious fringe. For most of the 20th century, social housing
estates outside of the metropolis were believed to be
The Omnivore s Dilemma Summary
How much do you really know about the food you eat? Reading the book The
Omnivore s Dilemma by Michael Pollan, Getting Real About the High Price of Our
Cheap Food by Bryan Walsh, and the movie Food Inc. gave me an idea of how our
food is made and what is in it. Also reading the books gave me an idea, Michael
Pollanmostly talked about corn and Bryan Walsh talking about high prices of our
cheap food. Robert Kenner explains how we should look into our food to save us
from getting sick or becoming obese.
Michael Pollans argument is how corn is in everything we eat. His claim is, most
of what we eat is corn, in one way or another. Corn is in pills, diapers, charcoal, and
batteries. That s crazy. We don t eat batteries or diapers. When we eat our food it
just doesn t taste like a ball of corn. His evidence is corn feeds the steer that
becomes your steak, the chicken that lays your eggs, the pig that becomes your pork,
the catfish in the catfish farm, and the corn that feeds your dairy cow that becomes
your milk, cheese and ice cream. Everybody thinks since corn is a
Bunn 2 vegetable it s in all of our foods we re eating healthier and getting our
vegetables but were not. Just because corn is a vegetable doesn t mean the corn in
our food is healthy. Most of the corn in our bad foods is High Fructose Corn Syrup. It
s that sweet taste in most of our foods but just because its made out of corn doesn t
mean it s healthier for us. All that extra stuff is doing is adding
Dentistry Major
When I was young, my father asked me about my future job. I answered without a

they are engineers. However, dentistry is a humanitarian major more than a paid job.
Helping people, taking care of them, time management, and creativity are the most
important things to me in my childhood. As a child, going to a dentist was my
strongest fear. To the fact, that the smell of the hospital makes me vomit due to the
panic I get from the dentist. Beating the fear and helping people beat the fear of
dentists makes people love dentists even more.
What makes dentists so special is their ability to help people relieving their teeth pain
such as cavity and wisdom tooth removal. The earlier patients go to the dentist, the
less complicated and shorter the treatment was. Dentistry major is needed everywhere
in the world. As the world population increases, people need more dentists to treat
their teeth. Moreover, it s one of the most respected majors because people need

The Generation Of Generation And Student Loan Debt
Generation X faces many issues unique to their generation, technology was
advancing, and computer were becoming more affordable and widespread. They
faced both social and ecological issues, with advances in medicine that caused the
generation before them to live longer, and being the one of the first generations to
be effected by student loan debt. Generation Xers are often known for their high
level of skepticism and their what do I get out of this attitudes. They are
considered to be the first generation of latchkey kids, or kids without much
boundaries. During the 60 s and 70 s divorce rates were at an all time high, so
many of the children of this generation were exposed to large amounts of divorce
(Schroer). Which might explain for the high levels of skepticism and freedom they
had. It seemed they also didn t care much for politics sense they had the lowest
voting participant rate of any other generation. Generation Xers are often referred to
as the Baby Bust generation. They were born 1965 1976, now many Gen Xers find
themselves having large amounts of responsibility. Having to take care of the now
retiring Baby Boomergeneration and the still young Millennia Generation. At this
point they have all reached middle age and most are at the height of their
professional careers. Gen Xers are the least represented generation, they are often

Slang Is So Popular With The Younger Generations
The way in which we speak changes drastically depending on the situation,
environment we are in and who we are speaking to. The use of slang in today s
society is increasingly becoming more and more common. However, this new,
modern way of speaking also comes with negative connotations. For this reason,
people have had to learn to adapt their speech to their situation. I will be discussing
the reasons behind the use of slang, why some people disapprove of it and I will
analyse how people change the way in which they speak depending on their
situation. Many young people use slang in order to fit in with their peers. Because
slang is mainly spoken by younger people, the use of it almost puts up a barrier
between children and adults. This barrier gives the youth a sense of rebellion. This
may be one of the reasons why slang is so popular with the younger generations,
this feeling gives them a sense of freedom and independence. Additionally, this
may also be one of the reasons why many people disapprove of the use of slang.
Some people believe that the use of slang suggests bad manners and morals, this
leads to them distrusting people who use slang. People also believe that the
common use of slang is causing the deterioration of Standard English. This can
cause many problems in society because it is easy for assumptions to be made about
people because of the way they speak. For this reason, the younger generation have
learnt to adapt the way they speak around different
Iron Deficiency Anemia From Poor Dietary Intake And Or...
Iron deficiency anemia from poor dietary intake and/ or absorption of iron causes
approximately 50% of global anemia. The relationship between HIV and anemia is
not known though at times it is a side effect of some ARVs (Kenyan National
Guidelines on Nutrition and HIV/AIDS, 2007). Persons with HIV who are anemic
progress faster to AIDSthan those without. 2.4.1 Weight loss and wasting in HIV
/AIDS
The relationship between nutrition and HIV/AIDS is best understood by considering
the effect of the disease on body size and composition and the immune system. Body
size and composition are used as indicators of protein energy status, and are
commonly expressed in terms of body weight and height (Piwoz and Preble, 2000).
Wasting syndrome found in adult patients in Africa is the severe nutritional
manifestation of the disease. Wasting is usually precede by changes in appetite,
repeated infections, weight fluctuations and subtler changes in body composition,
such as changes in lean body mass and body cell mass (Babameto and Kotler, 1997).
Weight loss and wasting in PLWHA develop as a result of three overlapping
processes (Piwoz and Preble, 2000):
a)Reductions in food intake
This may be due to painful sores in the mouth, pharynx, and/or esophagus. Fatigue,
depression, changes in mental state, and other psychosocial factors may also play a
role by affecting appetite and interest in food. Economic factors affect food
availability and the nutritional quality of the diet. Side
Silence In Iris Murdoch s Under The Net
In Iris Murdoch s book Under the Net there are several allusions to the theme of
silence. Through these allusions to silence Murdock presents the idea that in
silence truth is found. The first portion of this essay will focus on the clearest
example of this theme: the relationship and the contrast between Hugo and Jake.
Secondly, this paper will look at Jake s discovery of his own voice. Finally this
paper will look at and address the strongest critique to the idea of silence presented
in this essay. Hugo sums up the idea of silence when he tells Jake in chapter 18 that
For most of us, for almost all of us, truth can be attained, if at all, only in silence. It
is in silence that the human spirit touches the divine. This idea that knowledge
comes from the silent is portrayed in the relationship between Hugo and Jake,
especially in the writing of Jake s book, The Silencer. The title of this book even
alludes to silence but the strongest argument for the attainment of truth through
silence is through the fact that though the book was written by Jake all of the ideas
came from Hugo. This reflects Murdock s idea of silence because the substance of the

This is seen in his writings that are all translations of other authors ideas, while his
only published work came from Hugo. Murdock ties this lack of original thought
to a lack of silence by having Jake throughout the story erratically move from place
to place and idea to idea. It is only when Jake moves back to Dave s apartment that
he begins to find his own voice by deciding to work on an original writing. He finds
his voice through isolation and the order provided by consistent work of an orderly
and living alone in his room. Murdoch uses this change from Jake s earlier chaotic
lifestyle to show that to find some truth of oneself one must first slow their lives to a
state of

Security Incidents And Security Violations
In 2013, 50 major global organizations reported that 63,437 security incidents and
1,367 confirmed security breaches had significantly impacted their business. [cite]
Even more staggering, over 100 million Americans that s 1 out of 3 citizens had
their credit or debit card information pilfered by hackers over the course of 4 data
breaches between 2013 and 2014 [cite], with confirmed evidence that breaches of this
type are increasing. These statistics show that there are serious problems now existing
in the realm of information securityand the internet. However, it is undeniable that
society today is largely dependent upon the technology that handles our information
along with many facets of society such as social media that would leave us
completely non functional without technology. Consequently, there is an ongoing
debate about the issues of information security and how to solve them. Some people
believe it is the simple matter of installing security programs on their devices, or using
a network that its proponents have labeled it as ultra secure to solve the problem. On
the other hand, others believe that these are information security issues that, given
technology today and in the future, will never have a permanent solution. The
American military has legitimate reasons for secure communications across the
Internet, especially in the current age of technology. Field personnel and agents in

Essay On The Atomic Bomb
World War II was one of the most devastating wars in history. This war was
drastically different from all of the other wars. The reason being because the atomic
bomb was first used. The atomic bomb had been dropped on the cities of Hiroshima
and Nagasaki in Japan. At the time of the dropping of the bombs, the United States
public had no clue it even existed. This leads to the question, what did the United
States citizens think about the dropping of the bombs? The country was divided
between support for that drastic measure and criticism of the devastation.
Something so devastating can be hard at times to formulate an opinion on. Also, the
United States civilians were not informed of something that could bring such
devastation to the world. At the time, all they knew was that Japan attacked Pearl
Harbor and we had to retaliate. Consequently, this caused a lot of confusion, and
eventual opinions that led down both the paths. The devastation caused division
between public opinion. Opponents of the weapon were sharply critical and came
from all different types of backgrounds.
Those who had opposed it opposed it on moral grounds, and the devastation was
repulsive to them. Opposition was even found from those who helped create the
bomb. On August 2nd, 1939, Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard had written a letter to
President Roosevelt, implying that they should create their own nuclear program
before Nazi Germany. In 1947 however, Einstein had felt completely different after

Character Analysis Of Ellen Foster By Kaye Gibbons
When I was little I would think of ways to kill my daddy. This beginning to the
novel Ellen Foster by Kaye Gibbons, prepares readers to enter the world of one of
the most influential and appealing young woman protagonists in modern fiction.
Ellen Foster, the main character of the book by Gibbons, is, in my view, the most
fascinating and remarkable character in the story. Readers are introduced to the
narrator Ellen, a determined, yet mature and individualistic eleven year old, who
lives in the South during the 1970s. She lives with an alcoholic father and a sick
mother. Ellen must go through many hardships and face much trauma, when she
foreshadows her mother s death and the long journey in front of her by saying that a
storm is coming I can smell the storm and see the air thick with the rain coming.
(p.7). Young Ellen must go through much more than the average child her age, but
she knows that she will get her happy ending. After dealing with her abusive father
and depressed mother, Ellen deserves to go to a happy family, one that will accept
her with smiles on their faces and joy in their eyes. Even if it means jumping from
foster home to foster home, from a cruel grandmother to a condescending aunt and
cousin, Ellen will find the people that will love her, even if it means first having to
go to those who don t. To start with, Ellen wasn t in the best of situations when this

Mortgage Brokers
Buying a house can be complicated enough, but trying to sort out which mortgage is
best, what the different rates are, etc, can be like trying to pick your way through a
minefield. That s why using a mortgage broker is such a good idea, and one that
more and more homebuyers are starting to do.
Whereas previous generations of home buyers were content to simply arrange the
mortgage through their banks, today s buyers are different. With the Internet
offering new ways for people to look for deals on everything from home insurance to
car loans, mortgage lenders are no longer the ones in control. However, using a
mortgage broker is still more advisable than looking for offers by yourself.
Why a Mortgage Broker?
A mortgage broker is a certified professional and someone who has spent years

Authority (FSA), they have a strict set of guidelines that they must adhere to. This

you take it out with. Compare this to banks and building societies, which usually try
and arrange your mortgage solely with them, and the extra cost in using a broker are
more than worth it.
What does a Mortgage Broker do?
Because they are such experts in their field, a mortgage broker can offer a host of
services that you may not have received otherwise. As well as their advice, you can
also expect a broker to:
* Find the mortgage that s right for you
* Access to thousands of different lenders nationwide
* Provide a mortgage calculator that will help you decide how much you can
Examples Of Chillingworth A Man Of Villainy
Chillingworth: A man of villainy? As it stands people in a general consensus seem to
vilify Chillingworth as one of the only negative characters throughout the anti
transcendentalist novel, The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne. However, this
is not necessarily the case and the evils of Chillingworth had been merely just
additions to his persona that were added throughout his life. Namely, this
transformation from a decent and loving husband to a sadistic man who only cares
about finding the other adulterer to something and making his life a living hell, and
then to something no one would expect, and this was all caused by one particular
instance.
The man we know as Roger Chillingworth was living his life happily with his wife
Hester Prynne, they soon stumbled upon the idea of moving to the New World and
becoming settlers there. This idea is what sets the two into the spiral of backlash that
leads into the deforming of Chillingworth s caring nature into that of sadism and
disdain for one singular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He attempts to confront her asking what had happened and, she gives him absolutely
nothing but scowls and rude remarks. Even so he asks her to tell no one about his
being at the colony so that he may find the other culprit of this act of adultery. This is
the first stage that Chillingworth goes through, he gains the desire to find the man
who had lain with his wife. So, in order to achieve his goal, he goes under the alias
Roger Chillingworth as a means of getting in close with the town s inhabitants in
order to find the culprit. This leads him to his housing arrangement with Arthur
Dimmesdale, the newest and youngest priest in the convent. And with this housing
communion, it spikes Roger s suspicion with Dimmesdale this then leads him to his
next stage of his sadistic nature, where he begins his
American Home Buyers Research Paper
Anyone who has read American Home Shield Warranty reviews knows that home
warranty plans are extremely important. Air conditioners are covered by home
warranty plans. There are a number of problems that you may encounter with your
air conditioner. One of the problems that many people run into is dealing with an air
conditioner that will not cool. Fortunately, these problems are often easy to fix.
Below is a list of things that All American Home Buyers recommends doing if you
have an air conditioner that will not cool: Check The Thermostat The first thing you
will need to do if your air conditioner is not cooling properly is to check the
thermostat. Make sure that you have the thermostat on auto. If your air conditioner is
set to on, then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is why All American Home Buyers recommends checking the air filter. A
dirty air filter can also reduce the efficiency of your air conditioner. Check The
Ductwork The ducts are one of the most important parts of your air conditioner.
They are the part that deliver the cooled air to your home. If the ducts are poorly
designed, bent or cracked, then your home cannot be properly cooled. You may
want to consider having a professional inspect the ducts. Check Your Outside Unit
The problem may be with your outside unit. If it is covered with grass, dirt and
debris, then is probably what is causing your air conditioner to not cool properly.
Clean the area. You may also need to trim bushes around your outside unit. You
should call a professional if the outside fan does not work. Many people who have
written American Home Shield Warranty reviews called a professional because
there outside fan did not work. Check The Refrigerant If your unit is older, then it
may leak refrigerant. Your unit will not be able to keep your home cool if it is
leaking too much refrigerant. The refrigerant may have also frozen. You will need to
contact a professional if there is a problem with your
A Wrinkle In Time Movie And Book Differences
A Wrinkle in Time was written as a book and made as a visual movie for all to see.
Both can be compared because both, the book and movie, have many similarities to
each other. But, both also have many differences to come with it. One similarity that
is in both the book and the movie is that Charles Wallace keeps to himself and can
read minds. He doesn t talk to anyone outside the family. The one person that he is
closest to would be Meg because she defends and understands him. Another similarity
is that in both, the book and the movie, Calvin has compulsions. He feels if he should
do something, or go somewhere and the timehe should do so. He also feels if
something is right or wrong in the process of doing so. In this compulsion he had
the feeling of going to Meg and Charles. The last similarity was that in both, the
book and the movie, Meg, Charles, Calvin, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Which, and Mrs.
Who teaser only to be gone for a few minutes. The three witches made it seem to
Meg, Charles, and Calvin that they were gone for a while. But, to... Show more

One difference was the appearance of the characters. Meg was mentioned to have
glasses and braces with acne in the book. However, in the movie she has no
glasses, no braces, and no acne. Charles looks pretty much the same in both. But,
Calvin was said to have red shaggy hair, instead he had brownish blackish hair.
Another difference is that in the book, Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin were led
to the three witches through Charles. In the movie they were lead to the three
witches through a crow. The crow went to Meg s window and Meg had a feeling to
follow it. The last difference is that in the book Meg jumps onto Charles Wallace in
the CENTRAL Central Intelligence building witch causes him to crack his head on
the tile. This scene does not happen in the movie. Instead, Meg just tries to talk to
him through communication, nothing physical happened and no contact was
The Girl With Cobwebs Analysis
The past four papers that we, as class, read and discussed have all focused on
people with a dark and gloomy past. The story about the girl with a zipper in her
throat conveys a lot of meaning through the figurative language the author included
in her writing. A girl with cobwebs in her throat has a hard time communicating her
past and feelings due to the cobwebs blocking sounds from exiting her vocal cords.
The conception of having cobwebs in a person s throat is fictitious, but the author
used cobwebs in her writing to symbolize her dark past. The cobwebs in her throat
were unreachable, but the doctor placed a zipper in her throat for ease of
accessibility to manage them. He gave her control over her problem through an
evaluation session as doctors don t conventionally add zippers to peoples throats....

Cobwebs form in corners that are too far to clean regularly and only get worse
over time until you personally clean them. She cleans the cobwebs from her throat
by regularly visiting the psychologist s office, but this time, he tells her there is a
permanent solution to her problem, he tells her to find love. I also believe the
zipper is a symbol for medicine as the only realistic option that can clean stress and
sadness due to past emotional trauma is drugs. Drugs, although they make a person
temporarily feel better, only cause worse trauma when the high goes down. Most
prescriptions written by psychiatrists are drugs that trigger high levels of
endorphin and leave a person with lower levels of endorphin then before after the
high is down, and this causes the girl to seek love as a permanent solution. The girl
s past is dark and shadowy because her problems often prevent her from living her
life. If her problems didn t affect her daily activities, she would never seek out help

FBI Perspective And Programs On Cyber-Crime
FBI perspective and Programs on Cyber crime According to the Assistant Deputy
Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Thomas T. Kubic addressed members
of the Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection in 2001 on behalf of the entire
Bureau and stated the effort to reduce crime has been a high priority (Federal Bureau
of Investigation, 2001). In Kubic s testimony, he mentioned many valid points such
as: cyber crimes are virtual crimes which made them hard to prosecute and they also
cause a great amount of damage. Research shows that internetusers in the U.S.
reached approximately 65 million in 1998 and over 100 million in 1999 and it is
expected to exceed 200 million this year (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2001).

The purpose of the FBI and cyber criminal activity is to investigate the acts and trace
it back to the source. It is important to remember that even thought a crime has been
committed, it is impossible to determine which crime, therefore hindering the
investigational process. The FBI conducts their fraud investigations with the help

is a non profit organization which is partially funded by the department of justice and
its purpose is to provide a nationwide support system to prevent future crimes,

Ver2 Classroom Environment Analysis
Ver2 s online platform provides technical and high quality training to specialize
radiologists that is sustainable. Their program does not send the radiologists abroad,
as after conducting studies to understand the lack of Ethiopian radiologists, because
radiologists usually fail to return, and two year fellowship programs, where
international educators come and teach in Ethiopia, are ineffective in that they do not
provide a long term solution to the issue. Rather, the program brings highly qualified
JHU professors to the ten SPMMC students, on an online platform. Figure 1 outlines

According to Young (2014), an effective learningenvironment is an environment
[that] provides relevant content, clear learning goals and feedback, opportunities to
build social skills, and strategies to help students succeed . Arbaugh (2000) stated that
instructor(s) effort to create an interactive classroom environment was one of the
most important factors in a classroom environment. Other important aspects to
consider for online higher education classes are how difficult the software course is,
the flexibility of the classroom environment online, and occasionally technological
sophistication is required for ultimate classroom efficacy (Arbaugh, 2000). In an
effective classroom environment, an interesting two parallel process takes place:
there is a transformation in the students into active reflective learners, while both the
students and teachers, through engaging more with technology, become better digital
citizens (Office of Academic Planning and Assessment, n.d), thus this a component
that online classroom environments should try to emulate to reach their effective
potential. Essentially, the accessibility of online classroom, frequency of classes,
consistency of curriculum with digital resources, and pedagogy are some of the most
critical aspects found in effective classroom environments (Office of Academic
Planning and Assessment, n.d; Allan and Clarke, 2007; Arbaugh, 2000). Moreover, a
study conducted by the University of Alberta (Garrison, D., Anderson, T. Archer, W.;
1999) found that there are three elements essential to an education transaction :
cognitive presence, social presence, and teach presence. Furthermore, Allan and
Clarke (2007) stated that the most conducive learning environments include the
following three: the skill oriented outcomes that are expected of
Acetaminophen Is A Common Pain Reliever And Fever
Reducer...
Acetaminophen is a common pain reliever and fever reducer used to treat conditions
such as head, muscle or toothache, as well as colds, fevers, and even arthritis. It is
available in a many tablet form to be ingested. These tablets are manufactured by a
large variety of pharmaceutical manufactures including a great deal of generic brand
companies. These tablets all have the same active ingredient in acetaminophen, yet
each hold different inactive ingredients that can impact the overall performance of the
drug. These inactive ingredients affect the overall chemical stability of the tablets and
can lead to a faster decrease in potency of the acetaminophen tabletover time making
the tablet less viable of an option to treat common aches and pains. Storage outside
the range of the recommended temperature could greatly increase this rate of
degradation.
This is an important experiment for what it means to NASA and the International
Space Station, as it will allow them to more accurately understand whether
acetaminophen is a viable drug that should be taken onto the International Space
Station and on other missions, possibly missions related to Mars, where conditions
are not ideal. Additionally, this research would allow NASA to determine if it would
be safe for their astronauts to take acetaminophen past the expiration date or if the
expiration date even matters, given the conditions that they were stored, and for how
long. Also, it would help NASA determine which brand they
The Rise Of The Peshmerga
Peshmerga means those who are prepared to confront or face death. This military
force began around the 1920 s and have experienced a lot of tension between political
groups. The Peshmerga is currently fighting ISIS which is the biggest terrorist
organization in the world. They are not only the leading protectors of the Kurdistan
Region, but also the entire world.
Initially, the Peshmerga was developed by freedom fighters that were members of
the KDP and PUK, who used guerrilla warfare tactics to regain control of and protect
Kurdistan. After the collapse of the Ottoman and Qajar empires, freedom fighters
created the Peshmerga to regain control over Kurdistan. When the Peshmerga first
started, guerrilla warfare was used to fight enemies and defend the Kurdistan Region.
The Peshmerga had become an effective and powerful guerrilla fighting force at the
time of the Iran and Iraq war in the 1980 s ( Who are the Peshmerga?, 2014). The
KDP and PUK were the governmental powers which influenced the Peshmerga and
its formation. The head of the Kurdish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The members of the Peshmerga battled to keep the region under the authority of
their leading governmental party. The KDP consisted of a conservative political
philosophy that follows tradition. While the PUK consisted of a socialist political
philosophy that is more inclined to the left. The philosophical differences between
the two groups in power of the region and Peshmerga caused a civil war to break
out in the 1990 s. This war caused Kurds to choose sides and hatred increased. The
Peshmerga was used to fight against one another in support of their leading power.
The civil war came to a halt when the leader of the Kurdish Democratic Party,
Massoud Barzani, signed an agreement for peace with Jalal Talabani, the head of the
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan ( Kurdish Peshmerga,
Explain Three Ways To Reduce The Cost Of Buying A New
Home
Three Ways to Reduce the Cost of Buying a New Home Through Builder Incentives
There are many great advantages to buying a new home versus a pre owned home.
But they do tend to cost more, and the location is limited. Although there is not much
that can be done about where the new housing tract is located, there are a few things
you can do to try and get the cost of a home down. Your best options will relate
directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you can do this.
New home purchase rebates
Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may
offer rebates. Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be
slow in a particular state or even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can
take different forms, but most of them are related to a reduced commission from the
real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission, and share it with the home
buyer. The way this works varies. Sometimes it can be a reduction in closing costs,
but it can also be a cash amount paid to you. In this case, it will be the real estate
agent that pays you the rebate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will sometimes do this for the slower moving homes in a new tract. Often
these are the homes that didn t have some of the options other homes in the same
tract had. In order to sell these homes, they may offer free upgrades for one or two
features. This will add value to the home without an increase in the home s price tag.
Examples of these upgrades include a skylight, appliance upgrades, and additional

3. Differences between APV and option valuation
Valuing MW Acquisition by using APV method assumes in practice that exploiting of
all MW s reserves is certain and happens right after the acquisition. In other words, the
APV method excludes the flexibility in future decision making. In this case, Apache
has both an option to defer the exploiting of reserves into future and Apache may
also choose not to exploit the MW reserves at all.
As some of MW s reserves are actually real options, the APV valuation method
actually underestimates the real value of MW acquisition. If Apache defers the
exploiting of the reserves, there exists a possibility for the future cash flows
becoming even more valuable. For example, Apache could have more precise ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is important to remember that the APV valuation and the option valuation
calculations in Exhibit 1 and 3 aren t straight forward comparable, since APV
assumes financing the acquisition with new $300 million debt and real option
valuation is calculated assuming total equity financing. If the tax rate remains
constant, the real option valuation could be performed by taking the present value of
the tax shields into account. In this case the values obtained by real option valuation
would be even higher than the ones presented in the table.
As discounted cash flow method assumes all equity financed acquisition, it presents
more comparable value for the real option values shown. The value of Apache s
possibility to decide whether to exploit the reserves equals the difference between
DCF value and the real option value.
4. Option valuation method
The future cash flows of MW s reserves contain a great amount of risk and have
many possible future outcomes. The real option valuation method takes into account
the flexibility rising from this uncertainty. Real options often are valued using
financial option pricing techniques. However, there are several things to be
considered when treating reserves as options by using more specific Black amp;
Scholes model.
Firstly, there are some simplifications to be done to get all the necessary inputs for
the Black amp; Scholes model. One approximation to be made is the estimation of the
Misinterpretation and Its Consequences
Julius Caesar Theme Analysis Essay Misinterpretations are the root of all tragedies,
especially Julius Caesar. They have severe consequences like the loss of innocent
lives, conflicts between friends, all the way to our inability to discern our friends
from our foes. Each of these misinterpreting concepts is demonstrated in Julius Caesar
. Cinna the poet s death, Brutus s betrayal, and Cassius s misunderstanding of Titinius
s death are all scenarios that portray the theme of misinterpretation and its severe
consequences. First of all, the most important misinterpretation in this play is Caesar
s relationship with Brutus. For example, Caesar is dependent on Brutus as his utmost
loyal companion, but in the end, Brutus ends up killing... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Another misinterpretation happened between Cinna the Conspirator and Cinna the
Poet. For example, Cinna, the poet, was killed because the public thought he was the
conspirator. Unfortunately, the public got the poet and the conspirator confused, and
because of that misunderstanding and misinterpretation, an innocent life was lost. In
addition, the conspirator Cinna was also misinterpreted as a friend by Caesar, when
in reality; he was Brutus s accomplice in his tragic conspiracy. In the end, the
misinterpretation of circumstances and people led to the killing of the innocent poet,
Cinna. Even the people, who betray others, fall prey to the destructive
misinterpretations themselves. For example, Cassius who betrayed Caesar, was
mislead into believing that Titinius was dead, and because he could not take the
weight of this sorrow, he killed himself. However this was a big misinterpretation
because Titinius was not really dead...Cassius had received the wrong message.
Misinterpretations are liable to happen to everyone, and their consequences are tragic.
None the less, whether it is the misinterpretation of circumstances, people, or events,
the result is always destructive. The way Julius Caesar trusted Brutus, but was
betrayed by him shows that people aren t really what they seem. In addition, the
misinterpretation of names and people can cause the downfall of innocents as well,
like the way Cinna the Poet was killed.

However, the challenge lies in navigating the fine line between maintaining a casual, conversational tone (characteristic of familiar essays) and providing meaningful insights into the chosen topics. The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between personal anecdotes and universal themes. It requires the writer to seamlessly weave their experiences, observations, and reflections into a narrative that engages the reader while also addressing broader subjects. This delicate equilibrium is often easier said than done, as it demands a deep understanding of the chosen topics and the ability to convey that understanding in an accessible manner. Furthermore, the term "familiar" in familiar essays implies a sense of intimacy and personal connection. This means that the writer must be willing to open up, sharing their thoughts and experiences in a way that resonates with the audience. Achieving this level of intimacy while maintaining a level of professionalism in the writing can be challenging. Another hurdle in writing an essay on familiar topics is avoiding clichГ©s and tired tropes. Given that familiar essays often explore common, everyday experiences, there's a risk of falling into the trap of predictable narratives. Originality and a fresh perspective are key to keeping the reader engaged and making the essay stand out. In conclusion, crafting an essay on familiar topics demands a nuanced approach that balances personal expression with broader insights. It requires skill in storytelling, a keen understanding of the chosen subjects, and the ability to connect with readers on a personal level. Despite its challenges, successfully navigating these intricacies can result in a compelling essay that captures the essence of everyday life. If you find yourself struggling with such assignments, it's worth considering seeking assistance. When people have a good connectivity at their disposal, with tremendous power of distributed computing to supplement the same, we can think of connecting their personal computers to the real world applications of managing school or any institute . With this, people would be able to connect and disconnect, and manage the handling of school at their home even from a distant place. One of the very basic examples of a utility of this is there is no old file system now, every task is now online. Students can deposit their school fees online now either by credit/debit cards or by internet banking via bank gateway.Student registration will be online,Hostel allotment,Mess bills,Libray management will all come under this. 1.1 Few Terms This Project is a web application developed for managing Institute of Engineering Technology. This project will work as an interface between the students and faculty members of the college . It will be able to keep the records of all the students, their attendances, salaries of faculty members, mess bills of students, data about hostels, and will allow them to register themselves on our site to seek for the study materials from library even. River Padma Personal Statement Of Purpose River Padma, the biggest and most turbulent river of Bangladesh, is around twenty kilometers from my village where I grew up listening about the accidents of Steamer sinking (one kind of vessel that made locally and used to cross the river) from my childhood. In later years I also had some real acute experience of Steamer accidents. Every year around thousands of people lost their lives because of these accidents which take place for several times in each year. Crossing river Padma is must for the people of South Bangladesh as it is the only way to reach to the capital city, Dhaka. In my childhood I just always asked myself why this type of accident happens. We live in the ages of modern technology and people have already explored the universe. So isn t it possible to make safe water vessels for carrying people? Unions Have Played A Big Role In Protecting Introduction Unions have played a big role in protecting employees, but we have come a long way from the lessons we have learned of the past situations. In the 19th century the US became a new world for immigrants to produce a new life, working conditions required hard work, fighting, long hours for little pay, but most importantly, the unsafe conditions and manual labor that was bestowed upon these workers. This created labors to start a union, but there have been some major issues that ended badly such as the Haymarket riot, the homestead strike, and the Pullman strike, but it took these problems to form a better working conditions for the labor s. This riot was planned to be a peaceful riot for a strike on an 8 hour day, ended up turning into a battle between protesters and the police. Before the Haymarket Riot, there were unions formed such as the Knights of Labor and other unions, which this riot ended up hurting them after. When these unions formed, they were relatively radical since they included women, blacks, immigrants and unskilled workers and for that they wanted workers to have more control over the factories where they worked. Employers did not like this and did not want the employees to have any control over the factories so this caused factories to close and people lost their jobs. But when the strike began it was to be a peaceful strike that ended up a battle between the police and strikers and loss of life. Homestead Strike The Homestead strike was considered among one of the most violent labor disputes in history as the union wanted contracts and Management locked out workers from their jobs, which owners wanted to open up jobs to non union workers. The Homestead Strike, however, was organized and purposeful, a harbinger of the type of strike that would mark the modern age of labor relations in the United States (Boundless, 2017). Owners were out to make profit so they ended up closing factories and hired workers that were nonunion. You still see this today or if unions strike, the company will bring in non union members to work, until a deal is made, but what we learned in the past is hopefully

Episodic Memory In Fowler s The First Run-In Fern Episodic memory is the ability to remember incidents in one individual s life with detached information and then recall it later as conscious re experiences. It is said that this trait is unique to humans, acting as a distinguishing criteria between human beings and other animals. Many use this information to justify some of the studies and experiments that use animals as subjects, such as the chimp raising studies like the one written about in Fowler s we are all completely beside ourselves. However, Fowler s character, Fern the chimp, displays the ability to remember pieces of her early life with the Cooke family, and reacts to multiple family members later on the novel. Themes In Amazing Grace The film Amazing Grace tells the story of William Wilberforce a member of the English Parliament in the late 18th century and the early 19th, with emphasis on his passionate pursuit of abolishing the slave trade in England. This pursuit began in earnest after having an encounter with God, which caused him to deliberate whether to continue in politics or follow become a monk and live a life of solitude. John Newton the priest of his childhood and the author of the song Amazing Grace convinced him to serve God by serving in Parliament. I recommend this movie to anyone interested in the abolitionist movement or someone looking for a model of how to serve God while working outside of ministry. Two themes with a total of five questions have been posed that relate to this movie and to life in general. Theme: The First to Care 1.Among the first people to be heavily involved in the abolition movement in Great Britain and the US were members of religious groups like the Quakers. Building such a massive palace and city calls for many different ideas to build such city. This may consist of the symmetry of the city, as well as the strategically placed palaces and homes throughout it. While the Forbidden Citywas closed off too most people, anyone that did have the amazing opportunity to enter the Forbidden City were thoroughly impressed by the astonishing architecture and extravagant art work that filled the palaces to the brim. Those that were allowed in were required to dismount their horses and proceed on foot into the courtyard, where they were all greeted by the five marble bridges giving them passage across what was called the Golden River. While the Forbidden City has been built upon symmetry and power it also shows the separation of the public and private sectors very well, and while this architecture is quite extravagant it provides and shows different effects on the socialization between the public and private sectors of the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City has been built upon symmetry, shown in figure 1 the city is surrounded by a wall, approximately 30 feet high. Do you Ebert is being truthful in his statements about himself? Are you more likely to believe when someone else says about a person or what the person says about himself or herself? Explain your reasoning. I do not know anything about Roger Ebertbeyond these articles, but I assume Jones is being truthful about his observations of Ebert. I do not believe there is any reason to be anything, but truthful about his observations. Again, I do not see any reason to not be truthful, so I am sure Ebert is being truthful as well about himself. I think it depends on the person to believe what they have to say about themselves opposed to what others may say because some people know themselves more than others and might know who they are better than someone else, but in other cases others may know the person more deeply than the person knows themself, so I think it is just picking and choosing what you want to believe. How are emotional pain and loss different from physical pain and loss? Can the two be compared fairly? Emotional pain and loss lingers in people s minds and often stays with them for a lifetime and can often cause distress on people s character while physical pain and loss is strictly present I think because if you hurt somewhere physically it is often temporary and if you lose a loved one on the physical world that person s

Ohm s Law Series Circuits Name Institution Course Instructor 10 February 2017 Lab Report: Ohm s Law Series Circuits Introduction Theory: Ohm s law defines the relationship between three important electrical properties namely: voltage, current and resistance. Mathematically, ohm s law is expressed as: V=IR. By understanding the importance of conduction, one is able to determine the total resistance and visualize how resistors are connected in parallel circuits. In parallel connection, each resistor provides a separate path for current [I] so that the total resistance of a parallel circuit is reduced as more resistors are connected in parallel. To begin, a short introduction will outline the era in which Foucault wrote, as this has been seen as influential to his work, inspiring him to move away from the former ideological ways of thinking about the world (Taylor and Vintges 2004, Mills 1997). I shall then go on to consider the changing nature of feminism, which has moved on from viewing patriarchy and men as the oppressors of women, and is persistently developing more complex analyses of the ways in which gendered power relations operate. Foucault felt it necessary to dispense with ideologies such as socialism, communism and liberalism, which had all made claims to absolute truth and which had resulted in widespread devastation (Taylor and Vintges 2004: 2). Foucault s work focussed on the ways in which power operates throughout society. In his earlier work this was on the ways in which societies govern their subjects; his later focus was on the ways in which humans are subjectified within society, and the ways in which conduct is guided by self governance (Mills 2003). He wanted to move beyond an analysis of behaviours and ways of thinking that relied on the concept of ideology, and throughout his work he highlighted the oppressive function of truths and the effects of norms , when they are adopted unquestioned and uncritically (Mills 1997:30). Although Foucault openly refused the label of sociologist, poststructuralist, or postmodernist, his work has been aligned with these disciplines, and he has had a significant impact within these schools of thought (Smart 2002). Traditional feminist theorisation focussed on the notion of patriarchy, that male dominated society serves the needs of men, while oppressing women (Walby 1990). However, the view that all men oppress all women is now widely seen as inaccurate and oversimplified. While some women are indeed victims of male oppression, this is not the case for all women, as some may be in positions in which they exert

  • 16. The Problem Of Desertification ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE CONCERNS Desertification is an environmental and socio economic problem. Environmental justice is characterized by the equal sharing of risks and benefits, distributed equally without discrimination. The land affected falls in rural areas beyond the mainland which are primarily occupied by non Han ethnic minorities. These areas include the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, and Tibet, which have historically been oppressed. The social component of the problem creates a cycle in which poverty exacerbates desertification, and in turn, desertification aggravates poverty. The cycle will continue until the wellbeing of people living in desertified areas is considerably improved to the point where they no longer rely on degraded land for survival. Only then will they be able to limit their impact on desertified land. Chen and Tang further explain For degraded land, withdrawal of farmlands and enclosing pastures in order to exclude grazing are undoubtedly the most effective ways to prevent further desertification. These measures would deprive local people of their sole livelihood. Attempts to reduce desertification have neglected the human component of the problem. As a solution, Wang et al. suggest that outward migration with a carefully considered relocation policy is an important choice for desertified areas that are judged to be beyond ecological carrying capacity. Miao et al. echo this idea, explaining that reclamation efforts

With a sense of hopelessness and sufferance, Alena Neumann expresses her feelings about health care and its under reported gaps in mental health services for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) population. Many LGBT persons experience a life of torment and cruelty which leads to adverse outcomes that commonly begin during adolescence and transpire into adulthood. Dating back to the 1950s and 1960s, LGBT persons were thought by mental healthprofessionals to be suffering from a mental illness; solely due to their sexual identity. This often led to adverse treatment against their will such as: forced hospitalization, aversion therapy, and electroshock therapy (NAMI, 2016). These experiences result in isolation, embedded trauma, and self hatred, which have been linked to the development of mental health disorders. A Boynton Health Service (2012) survey reports more than 43 percent of gay and lesbian students have been identified having three or more mental health stressors in comparison to almost a quarter of heterosexual students. Additionally, a study conducted by Largent (2012) echoes these disparities, finding 44 percent of LGBT adults reported having ever been diagnosed with depression, almost twice that of heterosexual adults. These outcomes and findings speaks volumes to the mental health disparities experienced by this population and creates a

These topics create a strategic mindset for leaders to recognize their current and desired culture and make the correct steps toward lasting success. Foundations for the Workshop Because of the world today, Hughes wrote, the best way for organizations to thrive in the face of this new reality is to become continual learning engines (Hughes et al., 2005, pg. 3). One of the ways an organization can become a learning engine is to understand their own culture. This creates direction, alignment and commitment for the organization as it moves in its desired direction. This pushes an organization to become agile and resilient, which allow an organization to meet the demands of a competitive environment (Hughes et al., 2005). A reason agile organizations need to be able to change culturally is because it supports the overhead decisions made by

I had once witness seen a judge delayed the trail to another day for the lateness of the defense. But the judge only sanction him so I figure that this may happen more than once. The defendant s tardiness, as well as his demeanor very nonchalant in court, made him appear to be unconcerned with the fact that he was on trial. At one point I thought he was going to fall asleep. This definitely had an impact on his impression on the jurors as they did not seem happy with his behavior and neither was the judge. Once the jurors had been sworn in, the prosecuting barrister began with her opening statement. She reminded the jury of their role, which was to weight up the evidence in order to decide on the facts of the case. In comparison, the role of the judge was to interpret the law and direct the jury accordingly. Although there was reference to statute when the defendant was read his charge, the remainder of the trial was less concerned with the law and more focused on establishing the facts of the case. The prosecution called 3 witnesses in total, all of which were police officers. Once they arrived in the witness stand, they were asked to swear an oath.

The applications of the IoT in education are endless, and the results are extremely favorable for the student, teacher, and the university. For example, the emergence of the IoT allows schools to enhance access to information, keep track of key information and resources, and improve the safety of their campuses [5]. Professors can spend anywhere from 12 14 hours in a day teaching, working with individual students, and/or grading assignments and tests. The surge in connected IoT devices does not require professors to manually grade assignments; therefore, they are provided extra time to use as they please. Also, devices connected to the cloud allow professors to gather information on their students; this data can then be used for two things. First, the data acknowledges which students require the most individual attention, need, and care. Second, teachers can adjust their teaching strategies or lesson plans for future classes by analyzing the received data. From a student standpoint, IoT devices and applications allow the student to capture notes quickly and effectively, eliminating the time to manually write the notes; this allows the student to focus on the lecture that is being presented [5]. The transportation sector can also be loosely connected from an education standpoint. Using IoT devices, students can keep track of buses and

The self consciousness emerges as an awareness of both genre and linguistic expectations. contrasting highly self conscious, isolated literary men (or men with literary aspirations) with women who follow more romantic models, even stereotypes. The story of a misanthropic bachelor who meets an emotionally frustrated wife, develops a bond, then recoils at intimacy could not be more formulaic; she even dies of sudden failure of the heart s action (114). The irony is clear the suddenness really took place four years earlier. Joyce wrote Dubliners to appeal to both a mass audience and scholars, and A Painful Case seems particularly driven to the popular reader and, with its tale of unrequited love, to female readers. James Duffy is skeptical and irritated by exactly this kind of bland, superficial writing: She asked him why did he not write out his thoughts. For what, he asked her, with careful scorn. To compete with phrasemongers, incapable of thinking consecutively for sixty seconds? To submit himself to the criticisms of an obtuse middle class which entrusted its morality to policemen and its fine arts to impresarios? (111) Joyce both launches into self criticism and evades it; by critiquing the method he employs, he demonstrates a self awareness that lifts his work beyond this middle class production. Duffy, too, practices this self awareness in conjunction with Joyce. At the end of a token biographical paragraph, all delivered in the third person past tense, we learn this tidbit: He had an odd autobiographical habit which led him to compose in his mind from time to time a short sentence about himself containing a

  • 31. Social Differentiation And Separation Of Latin American... Cities have been traditionally seen as the breeding grounds for citizenship, the latter usually framed in terms of dwellers having specific rights, duties, some sort of political participation and frequent interactions with each other. Yet, urbanization can also present many challenges that further disenfranchise and marginalize residents. As the most urbanized region in the world, Latin American cities highlight both of these sceneries. Industrialization and neoliberal economic policies led to the continent s rapid urbanization, introducing large developments but also deeply segregated urban centers, characterised by strong tensions between their formal and informal dimensions. Latin American leaders efforts to tackle this issue have presented both setbacks and opportunities to transform the cityinto a more integrated space, and set the path to recognize every dwellers right to the city: to be in it, to enjoy it, and to build it. Because slang is mainly spoken by younger people, the use of it almost puts up a barrier between children and adults. This barrier gives the youth a sense of rebellion. The first portion of this essay will focus on the clearest example of this theme: the relationship and the contrast between Hugo and Jake. Secondly, this paper will look at Jake s discovery of his own voice. Finally this paper will look at and address the strongest critique to the idea of silence presented in this essay. Hugo sums up the idea of silence when he tells Jake in chapter 18 that For most of us, for almost all of us, truth can be attained, if at all, only in silence. It is in silence that the human spirit touches the divine. This idea that knowledge comes from the silent is portrayed in the relationship between Hugo and Jake, especially in the writing of Jake s book, The Silencer. Both can be compared because both, the book and movie, have many similarities to each other. But, both also have many differences to come with it. One similarity that is in both the book and the movie is that Charles Wallace keeps to himself and can read minds. He doesn t talk to anyone outside the family. The one person that he is closest to would be Meg because she defends and understands him. Another similarity is that in both, the book and the movie, Calvin has compulsions. He feels if he should do something, or go somewhere and the timehe should do so. He also feels if something is right or wrong in the process of doing so. In this compulsion he had the feeling of going to Meg and Charles. Another difference is that in the book, Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin were led to the three witches through Charles. In the movie they were lead to the three witches through a crow. The crow went to Meg s window and Meg had a feeling to follow it. The last difference is that in the book Meg jumps onto Charles Wallace in the CENTRAL Central Intelligence building witch causes him to crack his head on the tile. This scene does not happen in the movie. Instead, Meg just tries to talk to him through communication, nothing physical happened and no contact was

The story about the girl with a zipper in her throat conveys a lot of meaning through the figurative language the author included in her writing. A girl with cobwebs in her throat has a hard time communicating her past and feelings due to the cobwebs blocking sounds from exiting her vocal cords. The conception of having cobwebs in a person s throat is fictitious, but the author used cobwebs in her writing to symbolize her dark past. The cobwebs in her throat were unreachable, but the doctor placed a zipper in her throat for ease of accessibility to manage them. He gave her control over her problem through an evaluation session as doctors don t conventionally add zippers to peoples throats.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She cleans the cobwebs from her throat by regularly visiting the psychologist s office, but this time, he tells her there is a permanent solution to her problem, he tells her to find love. I also believe the zipper is a symbol for medicine as the only realistic option that can clean stress and sadness due to past emotional trauma is drugs. Drugs, although they make a person temporarily feel better, only cause worse trauma when the high goes down. Most prescriptions written by psychiatrists are drugs that trigger high levels of endorphin and leave a person with lower levels of endorphin then before after the high is down, and this causes the girl to seek love as a permanent solution. The girl s past is dark and shadowy because her problems often prevent her from living her life. If her problems didn t affect her daily activities, she would never seek out help from a

According to Young (2014), an effective learningenvironment is an environment [that] provides relevant content, clear learning goals and feedback, opportunities to build social skills, and strategies to help students succeed . Arbaugh (2000) stated that instructor(s) effort to create an interactive classroom environment was one of the most important factors in a classroom environment. Other important aspects to consider for online higher education classes are how difficult the software course is, the flexibility of the classroom environment online, and occasionally technological sophistication is required for ultimate classroom efficacy (Arbaugh, 2000). In an effective classroom environment, an interesting two parallel process takes place: there is a transformation in the students into active reflective learners, while both the students and teachers, through engaging more with technology, become better digital citizens (Office of Academic Planning and Assessment, n.d), thus this a component that online classroom environments should try to emulate to reach their effective potential. Essentially, the accessibility of online classroom, frequency of classes, consistency of curriculum with digital resources, and pedagogy are some of the most critical aspects found in effective classroom environments (Office of Academic Planning and Assessment, n.d; Allan and Clarke, 2007; Arbaugh, 2000). Moreover, a study conducted by the University of Alberta (Garrison, D., Anderson, T. Archer, W.; 1999) found that there are three elements essential to an education transaction : cognitive presence, social presence, and teach presence. Furthermore, Allan and Clarke (2007) stated that the most conducive learning environments include the following three: the skill oriented outcomes that are expected of

Acetaminophen is a common pain reliever and fever reducer used to treat conditions such as head, muscle or toothache, as well as colds, fevers, and even arthritis. It is available in a many tablet form to be ingested. These tablets are manufactured by a large variety of pharmaceutical manufactures including a great deal of generic brand companies. These tablets all have the same active ingredient in acetaminophen, yet each hold different inactive ingredients that can impact the overall performance of the drug. These inactive ingredients affect the overall chemical stability of the tablets and can lead to a faster decrease in potency of the acetaminophen tabletover time making the tablet less viable of an option to treat common aches and pains. Storage outside the range of the recommended temperature could greatly increase this rate of degradation. This is an important experiment for what it means to NASA and the International Space Station, as it will allow them to more accurately understand whether acetaminophen is a viable drug that should be taken onto the International Space Station and on other missions, possibly missions related to Mars, where conditions are not ideal. Additionally, this research would allow NASA to determine if it would be safe for their astronauts to take acetaminophen past the expiration date or if the expiration date even matters, given the conditions that they were stored, and for how long. Also, it would help NASA determine which brand they

Explain Three Ways To Reduce The Cost Of Buying A New Home Three Ways to Reduce the Cost of Buying a New Home Through Builder Incentives There are many great advantages to buying a new home versus a pre owned home. But they do tend to cost more, and the location is limited. Although there is not much that can be done about where the new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home down. Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you can do this. New home purchase rebates Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates. Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them are related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission, and share it with the home buyer. The way this works varies. Sometimes it can be a reduction in closing costs, but it can also be a cash amount paid to you. In this case, it will be the real estate agent that pays you the rebate. ... • 54. Case Mw Petroleum 3. Differences between APV and option valuation Valuing MW Acquisition by using APV method assumes in practice that exploiting of all MW s reserves is certain and happens right after the acquisition. In other words, the APV method excludes the flexibility in future decision making. In this case, Apache has both an option to defer the exploiting of reserves into future and Apache may also choose not to exploit the MW reserves at all. As some of MW s reserves are actually real options, the APV valuation method actually underestimates the real value of MW acquisition. If Apache defers the exploiting of the reserves, there exists a possibility for the future cash flows becoming even more valuable. For example, Apache could have more precise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is important to remember that the APV valuation and the option valuation calculations in Exhibit 1 and 3 aren t straight forward comparable, since APV assumes financing the acquisition with new $300 million debt and real option valuation is calculated assuming total equity financing. If the tax rate remains constant, the real option valuation could be performed by taking the present value of the tax shields into account. In this case the values obtained by real option valuation would be even higher than the ones presented in the table. As discounted cash flow method assumes all equity financed acquisition, it presents more comparable value for the real option values shown. The value of Apache s possibility to decide whether to exploit the reserves equals the difference between DCF value and the real option value. 4. Option valuation method The future cash flows of MW s reserves contain a great amount of risk and have many possible future outcomes. The real option valuation method takes into account the flexibility rising from this uncertainty. Real options often are valued using financial option pricing techniques. However, there are several things to be considered when treating reserves as options by using more specific Black amp; Scholes model. Firstly, there are some simplifications to be done to get all the necessary inputs for the Black amp; Scholes model. One approximation to be made is the estimation of the
  • 55. Misinterpretation and Its Consequences Julius Caesar Theme Analysis Essay Misinterpretations are the root of all tragedies, especially Julius Caesar. They have severe consequences like the loss of innocent lives, conflicts between friends, all the way to our inability to discern our friends from our foes. Each of these misinterpreting concepts is demonstrated in Julius Caesar . Cinna the poet s death, Brutus s betrayal, and Cassius s misunderstanding of Titinius s death are all scenarios that portray the theme of misinterpretation and its severe consequences. First of all, the most important misinterpretation in this play is Caesar s relationship with Brutus. For example, Caesar is dependent on Brutus as his utmost loyal companion, but in the end, Brutus ends up killing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another misinterpretation happened between Cinna the Conspirator and Cinna the Poet. For example, Cinna, the poet, was killed because the public thought he was the conspirator. Unfortunately, the public got the poet and the conspirator confused, and because of that misunderstanding and misinterpretation, an innocent life was lost. In addition, the conspirator Cinna was also misinterpreted as a friend by Caesar, when in reality; he was Brutus s accomplice in his tragic conspiracy. In the end, the misinterpretation of circumstances and people led to the killing of the innocent poet, Cinna. Even the people, who betray others, fall prey to the destructive misinterpretations themselves. For example, Cassius who betrayed Caesar, was mislead into believing that Titinius was dead, and because he could not take the weight of this sorrow, he killed himself. However this was a big misinterpretation because Titinius was not really dead...Cassius had received the wrong message. Misinterpretations are liable to happen to everyone, and their consequences are tragic. None the less, whether it is the misinterpretation of circumstances, people, or events, the result is always destructive. The way Julius Caesar trusted Brutus, but was betrayed by him shows that people aren t really what they seem. In addition, the misinterpretation of names and people can cause the downfall of innocents as well, like the way Cinna the Poet was killed.
