Main area of activity
For this project I will be creating a fanzine on Ariana Grande. I will cover everything to do with
Ariana from her childhood to the future. I will also try and include some information about trickier
situations with Ariana for example the hate and blame she received after the Manchester attack
and Mac Millers death. I believe this will create an interesting fanzine full of information that a fan
like myself would be interested in.
Target Audience
My target audience is fans of Ariana Grande aged 16-24. The fanzine will be fully tailored to this
audience by using a title easily linked to her along with including images of Ariana and the topics
on the cover and inside on each page. I will also use colours based around one of her albums or
fragrances to create an even bigger connection to Ariana for by desired audience.
Rationale:
Throughout my first my first year of college I got to work on and improve my layout skills. During a
movie/game design project I had to create a few promotional items. For this I created a movie
poster, bus advertisement and web advertisement. I also had to make an album cover for a music
video I created. To create these, I used photoshop, building up my experience with the software. I
was able to practice my layout and poster planning which I can. I will be able to use the skills I
picked up from this previous work and use them for this project as there is a lot of layout planning
to be done.
Project Concept:
I am going to be creating a Fanzine on the singer Ariana Grande. As this is a factual project, I will
include everything to do with Ariana from her childhood to future projects. The basics of the
subjects I will cover are: Her childhood and leading up to her fame, her discography, her world
tour, her achievements, major life events, her fragrances, possibly her beauty line, and possibly
any future projects. I will also include some interviews in the fanzine. I will be interviewing fans of
Ariana Grande who have personal experiences with her either meeting her or just in concert in
general, I will also interview them about all the other topics I will be including in the fanzine such as
her music. To add to this, I will be including information about some of the hate and backlash she
has revived from certain events. This isn’t that commonly looked at so I believe including this will
make my fanzine a lot more interesting to read. I will be getting people's opinions/ reactions to this
hate/ backlash.
I will be using pinks and purples for my main colour scheme as these colours are commonly linked
with Ariana. This will be used on the background of the pages; I will use my target audience
research to confirm this and discover what other colours people associate with her that I could
potentially use. Ariana’s products are usually simple with layout so I will be using this same simple
style when laying out my pages. I will also be including some designs on the background of the
pages that are inspired by some small designs that Ariana has in her work. This will create a
greater link with the visuals to the artist.
For research I will be looking into each of my sections thoroughly to gather as much information as
possible to write about in the fanzine. I will also be looking at fanzines that already exist and
analysing them to understand more about the importance and effect of creating them in a way that
is easily recognisable to the target audience. This will help me see how detailed I need to go in
terms of styling and layout.

How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I will be doing on going evaluation for my entire project, updating it as much as possible to review
my progress and assess any need for improvement. I will also complete a final self evaluation
once my project is finished and analyse every part of my work while looking back at my proposal
and initial ideas and plans to see how my project developed and how I achieved my goals.
